It is always a complete joy to check out the genuine well crafted melodically pleasing music of singer-songwriter Paul Nourigat , and “Assumed It Would Happen “ Is no exception.

Paul’s broad sweep of the Americana landscape recalls such artists as Slaid Cleaves, Guy Clark, The Lumineers, and Jim Lauderdale. Each of his songs occupies its own unique roots-flavored world, and Paul, with his producer and guitarist extraordinaire Adam Selzer—curate just the right mix of musicians for the personality of each track.
Paul Nourigat is a master storyteller, who delivers meaningful and relatable songs that are absolute works of art.
“My songs speak to people who want to hear stories,” Paul says. He crafts each album with well-developed overarching themes, and each song features narratives with classic story arcs, including sweet resolutions.

“Assumed It Would Happen” hits that sweet spot between country and folk with strummed acoustic guitars, lonesome pedal steel, and plaintive vocals at times gorgeously adorned with female harmony interlace. The chorus refrain speaks to life’s bittersweet transience. Paul sings: Pullin out Memories, when life goes off track/It was what it was, and we can’t go back/Once in a lifetime, but did not know then/Just assumed it would happen, again and again Yeah, again and again.
“One of life’s greatest lessons is that special moments are fleeting, and often gone before we know it,” Paul says. He continues: “Early in life, personal challenges taught me to be truly grateful for each good experience that comes my way.”
