We recently had the distinct honor of checking out Fort Worth, TX-raised, Los Angeles, CA-based singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and budding producer Lindsey Rose Black and her cover of Troye Sivan’s “One Of Your Girls “ You can listen to “One Of Your Girls” on Spotify Here and on Apple Music Here You can check out the video below
The key to delivering a good cover is to stay true to the original while making it your own at the same time . Lindsey Rose Black does this flawlessly with “One Of Your Girls
Lindsey Rose Black is an artist in every sense of the word. She is able to seamlessly take in her surroundings of where and draw from the sonic traditions of both regions she has called home ( Texas and Los Angeles ) to craft a singular, twang-kissed dream pop and indie rock sound. Pedal steels mingle with fuzz pedals, fiddles swirl over drum machines, and everything is tied together with Lindsey’s smoky-smooth vocals and vivid storytelling exploring questions of faith, identity, and feminine power.
Growing up in the shadow of the Fort Worth stockyards, Lindsey first turned to songwriting in her early teens as a space to be her
unabashedly honest, queer, and freaky double Aquarius self. Gradually honing her craft in bedrooms and basements across Japan, Brooklyn, Austin, and Los Angeles, Lindsey worked with producer John Velasquez (Zella Day, Vacations, Ella Vos, Gatlin) for her debut EP, Subterra. Her releases to date have landed editorial pop and indie rock playlist features, indie outlet premieres, and radio play. She is currently supporting the EP with shows across the country (a forceful one-woman show where Lindsey crafts live loops and beats while rotating between keys, bass, guitar, and and her beloved Roland 404) and working on her debut record, Star Acres Lucky Boy.
As a queer woman and survivor of a harrowing stalking situation, Lindsey is immensely passionate about everyone’s right to feel safe in their bodies, in their homes, and at her shows. 2024 marks the first year she feels personally safe enough to speak out publicly about her experience to advocate for better resources and protections for both domestic violence survivors and the LGBTQIA+ community at large. Armed with unshakeable resilience, a tender and relentless curiosity for the world, and her rowdy Texas maverick spirit, We can’t wait to see what she does next.
