Listening to “You Could Break My Heart”, you can really hear and feel Maddie Regent evolving as an artist and it is absolutely beautiful. “You Could Break My Heart” is one of those songs that literally takes your breath away .

Crafted alongside her boyfriend, producer and fellow songwriter Cade Hoppe, and featuring additional production from Harper James of Eighty Ninety, “You could break my heart” merges lush, cinematic soundscapes with Maddie’s ethereal vocals. It’s a cathartic and heartfelt indie-pop number that lingers long after the final note.

“‘You could break my heart’ is about the helplessness that comes with falling in love—how we give someone our heart, knowing full well that they could break it,” Maddie shares. “Sometimes love makes us blind enough to romanticize the heartbreak.”

Hailing from Toronto and now based in New York City, Maddie first started making music at the age of 12. As an introverted child, music became her tool to express herself and work through her anxieties, helping her to find power in her vulnerability. After years of honing her sound, she’s found the perfect balance between escapist pop bops and raw, honest songwriting.
