Following her ‘As Written, Vol. 2’ project, a collection of reimagined fan-favorites and new tracks presented in their most stripped-back form, Avery returns with a track that is both achingly personal and powerfully cinematic.

“Rain” opens with delicate strings and gentle piano, a hauntingly beautiful backdrop that allows Avery’s captivating vocals to shine. As the track swells with sweeping, atmospheric production, it pulls listeners deeper into its emotive current. The lyrics feel as if they’ve been ripped straight from the pages of her diary—each word heavy with heartache and longing.

“I wrote ‘Rain’ about a time when my boyfriend and I were broken up and I was asked on a date by someone else,” Avery explains. “It recounts everything I was experiencing—where I was, what I felt, and what I wanted. It means a lot to me and it’s so cool to see how much it means to others, too.”
