Mayzie Belle, has a one of a kinda sound that pulls from many different genres to deliver a vibe and sound that is hard to ignore. “Beach Bum” from Mayzie Belle , might be our new favorite song of the summer.

With shimmering glide guitars layered over tight power chord rhythms, “Beach Bum” captures the blissful weightlessness of summer’s simplest pleasures. The song evokes the melodic rawness of The Breeders, anchored by lead vocalist Chrissy Menfi’s powerful delivery and a chorus that sticks like sand on your feet.

It’s a modern day ‘Summer Lovin’ from Grease,” says Menfi.

Despite its breezy vibe, the song was born from a moment of introspection. Bassist Brandon Malave (also of polka-punk outfit The Dreadnoughts) penned the track after a day spent people-watching on Brighton Beach during a major life transition. The overwhelming sense of freedom he witnessed inspired a song that came together in a single night after bringing the idea to Chrissy.
