You Will Forever Remember The First Time You Heard The Latest Gem, “Peaceful Alibi”, From Other Brother Darryl

We were immediately captivated with the latest single, “Peaceful Alibi”, from Boston alt-country and Americana band, Other Brother Darryl. You can listen to “Peaceful Alibi “ Here

Other Brother Darryl, has a style and sound that sounds perfect anytime , anyplace. It is a sound and vibe that is uniquely their own and it is on display front and center on “Peaceful Alibi “

Peaceful Alibi,” an inviting new Americana single from the mighty Other Brother Darryl , today (Friday, March 6. ) A sonic compass for life’s winding navigation, and the determination that ultimately delivers appreciation, it’s the band’s first new music since last year’s acclaimed debut album Roll Shine Roll, and sets a tone for forthcoming sophomore record Hey Yeah Hey, due in June.

Shortly after the release of “Peaceful Alibi,” Other Brother Darryl’s creative road takes them to The Lizard Lounge in Cambridge on March 27, followed by a pair of notable spring festival appearances: The Town And The City Festival in Lowell in May, and a return in June to the New England Americana Festival at Medfield’s Bellforge Arts Center.

Personally, it speaks to how you can feel overwhelmed by all of what’s going on in life,” says acoustic guitarist and co-vocalist Nate Leavitt. “When facing what seems like a mountain of problems, you can either go over or under that obstacle. While going around may seem easier, climbing up that mountain forces us to face challenges head on and builds our character. True, it’s a longer journey getting to the top, but once you’re there, the view is much clearer. This band has always been about appreciating the journey and turning these types of moments into milestones.”

This song is a reminder that a lot can be learned from the process and that we’re no different from anyone else when it comes to facing adversity,” Leavitt notes. “But no matter which road you take, it’s never too far to go.”

Longtime collaborator and Other Brother Darryl co-vocalist, percussionist, and producer Dan Nicklin agrees, adding that the song is about pushing past the hurdles life throws at us to find a certain type of peace, and how we are able to do so because it’s simply the right thing to do.

The players in the room have been shaping the delicate and deliberate Other Brother Darryl sound since their inception the past decade or so, where a group of friends bonded at a long-gone Boston rock club over a shared love of The Jayhawks, Wilco, and true authentic artistry, the type of harmony-driven Americana sound that feels both intimate and personal… not to mention the TV show Newhart, where the group traces its moniker.

Joining Leavitt and Nicklin in the current shape of Other Brother Darryl are Dan Cederholm (drums); Derek Feeney (acoustic guitar); Chad Raleigh (multi-instrumentalist); Jim Collins (bass, vocals); Dave Lieb (piano, vocals); Matt Odabashian (organ); and Dave Mirabella, a co-founder and beloved brother who provides spiritual guidance from the other side after passing away in 2022.

Allow yourself some peace…. And checkout, “Peaceful Alibi “ from Other Brother Darryl.

With their ambitious debut album and roots rock opera set for release in April, Dirt Road Souls have offered up new single “Next To You”, and we happily dove into this melodic gem, head first .

Next To You” is an infectious straight-line swirl of twangy dive bar hillbilly rock, showing off the Boston trio’s knack for yearning Americana, country rock, and Southern gothic wound tightly in melody.

The follow-up to last fall’s, brilliant“Hold On Soul,” this lively and riff-led new single continues to unveil chapters in the band’s forthcoming roots rock opera, (The Life and Times of) Johnny Moonshine

The record follows the mythic arc of Johnny Moonshine — a backroad dreamer, moonshine runner, romantic, and overall tragic figure. It’s a poetic odyssey of freedom, failure, and redemption, all wrapped around an arsenal of memorable hooks and melodic storytelling.

And “Next To You” reveals another side, both thematically and stylistically,  from the trio of Boston music scene veterans Davis Black (The Inebriations), Rick Weden (Shotgun Waltz), and Brian Sargent (Black Cat Crossing).

It’s about that pure youthful joy and optimism about going to the dirt road kegger knowing she’s going to be there and anything might happen,” Black notes. “It’s a country-fried banger that includes a girl and whiskey but no mention of trucks. They are there, it’s just implied!”

Dirt Road Souls are:

Davis Black: Guitars and vocals

Rick Weden: Drums

Brian Sargent: Upright bass and mandolin

We were instantly captivated by the beautiful tones and vibes from singer-songwriter, Lily Fitts . Lily has a fresh yet familiar indie-folk/ alternative country sound that immediately warmed our music loving soul.

Across the 10 tracks on “Getting By”, Lily pairs warm acoustic textures with unflinching lyrical vulnerability, offering a raw and honest perspective on life’s ups and downs.

The one song that stood out to us on “Getting By” was the powerful almost hymn like “Made To Believe It” We literally had goosebumps the whole song – absolutely stunningly amazing.

If listeners take anything from this album, let it be this: it’s okay to not have it all figured out, it’s okay to break, it’s okay to feel like you’re just surviving some days,” says Lily. “But even in the chaos, there’s still strength, there’s still beauty in being vulnerable, and there’s always a glimmer of hope that can pull you through.”

Abbie Callahan, has a fresh vibrant vibe and sound that is a refreshing change in a sometimes mundane musical landscape, and it is front center perfectly on “The Garden”

Her songbird melodies and lyrical depth are unmistakable—delivering a voice that’s as captivating as it is emotionally raw. Nothing is off limits when it comes to Abbie’s lyrical poetry, derived from lived experience and a fearless sense of self.

“The Garden, from Abbie Callahan, is definitely a well crafted melodic gem, that you simply can’t resist. So go find your favorite listening spot and enjoy .

Kier Byrnes & The Kettle Burners Have Uncorked A Magnificent Collection Of Music , With New Ep “Before The Fall”

If the new EP, “Before The Fall” from-based accordion-driven country-rock sextet Kier Byrnes & The Kettle Burners , was whiskey it would be from the best barrel in the land – guaranteed. You can listen to the splendid new EP, “Before The Fall” below

the high-octane sextet, led by longtime Boston music scene veteran Kier Byrnes and the recipient of Americana Act of the Year at the 2024 New England Music Awards, unleashes the stunning new EP , Before The Fall , today, (Friday, April 4.) The spirited and feisty six-track EP, which blends a spectrum of subgenres that bridge alt-folk, gypsy punk, Celtic, old-school country, and whatever else, gets the proper release party treatment a week later at The Plough & Stars in Cambridge come April 11

My hope is to create a unique blend of music from genres I closely identify with; country, rock, Celtic and Bavarian folk music and turn it into something new that defies any genre,” says Byrnes. “You know the joke about what happens if you play a country song backwards – you get your car back, you get your woman back, and you get your dog back. My aim is to take a country song and turn it completely inside out.”

The Before The Fall EP, fueled by potent lead single and opening track “White Russian,” continues a dynamic 2025 for the band, with no immediate signs of a slow down. In the Kettle Burners, co-vocalist and acoustic guitarist Byrnes is rounded out by lead guitarist and co-vocalist Dan DiBacco; accordion player Jason McGorty; washboard player Monica Sager; bassist Joe Miller; and drummer Brian Lilienthal. And the band just banged out seven live shows over a five-day stretch leading up to St. Patrick’s Day, celebrating their also-new In The Key of Guinness EP of Irish music with high-profile gigs at Harpoon Brewery, The Burren, and a massive 10-hour all-day holiday set at The Stockyard in Brighton.

Every song on , “Before The Fall” , felt more like a monumental musical event rather just an average song , we were literally hanging on every word and melody.

Remarkably, for a band with the Kettle Burners’ hustle and all-overdrive ambition, the tracks that make up Before The Fall were all written and recorded last summer, just ahead of the band’s appearance at Outlaw Music Fest in New Hampshire alongside Willie Nelson & Family, John Mellencamp, Charley Crockett, and others. A few weeks before the gig arrived, Byrnes suffered a tumble down a set of stairs, leaving him with severe injury to his legs and requiring surgery. Finishing the songs was placed on the back-burner, allowing Byrnes time to heal and giving the record its title, as the songs were all written Before The Fall.

With its title already ominous, the lyrical material reveals a slightly darker undercurrent than what the upbeat and zestful music would imply.

Some of my favorite country and folk songs are the ones where the music seems really nice and happy-go-lucky, but if you listen to the lyrics, it’s really gory and/or tragic,” admits Byrnes. “It’s fun to sing about darker stuff in an upbeat, energetic way.”

We blissfully sang and danced our way through “Before The Fall” from Kier Byrnes & The Kettle Burners and truth be told we enjoyed every single minute of it. . “When The Money’s All Gone” , “Train’s Off The Rails and “Hurting or Helping “ are absolute gems that we are absolutely over the moon about . Flawless sing along vocals woven between memorable melodies make “Before The Fall” a collection of music to cherish forever. Our favorite track on “Before The Fall” , is without a doubt “Quarter-Life Crisis “ Everything about this song is “stop you in your tracks “ good.

Do yourself a solid and check out “Before The Fall” you certainly will not regret it.
