On new single ‘Howling’, KIN TALA comment:

“The track Howling captures the essence of how I feel about modern life—where there’s a constant worry about what our society is becoming, whether we’re stuck holding down jobs that don’t provide security, or were fabricating our lives and relationships via social media – it all makes me want to go back to the past and live a simpler life. Recorded and mixed independently, we wanted ‘Howling’ to be an experiment of saturated textures and rhythmic energy, conveying that angst and yearning for something easier, simpler and more natural.”

We fell almost instantly for the new EP, “Reach” from Paperwhite.

Nearly a decade after releasing their 2016 debut EP Escape, Paperwhite remain true to the dreamy, synth-driven aesthetic that first captured the internet’s attention, while expanding their sonic palette with organic textures and cinematic flourishes. On Reach, shimmering melodies and atmospheric production underscore themes of self-discovery, perseverance, and quiet wonder—resulting in music that feels at once nostalgic and entirely new.

The ‘Reach’ EP is a reflection of where we’ve been and where we’re going—a collection of songs shaped by longing, nostalgia, and the quiet magic of memory,” the duo share. “We made it for anyone who’s ever felt lost in a dream or found comfort in a feeling they couldn’t quite name. We hope it brings a sense of wonder and a little more light.”

The opening track, “The Space Between “ sets the perfect vibe for an absolutely divine collection of songs. “Unfold” features flawless vocals coupled with perfect melodies.

Both “By Your Side”, and “This Feeling” are two songs that once we heard we simply couldn’t shake, their additive melodies and they stayed with us long after the music faded

Paperwhite, eloquently puts their heart and soul into their music and this is very evident on their beautifully crafted EP, “Reach”

Hallelujah! Soft Skies Inc, Hit The Sweet Spot With Splendid New Single, “Sin Some / Lose Some”

Single Artwork by Lindsay Metivier

We are absolutely thrilled beyond words, to check out the amazing new single, “Sin Some/ Lose Some”, from Philadelphia based , alternative duo, Soft Skies Inc. You can listen to “Sin Some/ Lose Some” on Spotify Here , Apple Music Here

Sin Some / Lose Some”, from Soft Skies Inc, is absolute dream pop perfection. We are blissfully basking in the glorious and divine melodies of a song that has truly captured our music loving soul.

“Sin Some/Lose Some “, is the first dose of new music in 2025 from the duo of identical twin brothers and longtime musical confidants Ryan and Martin Rex, who resurfaced last fall with a pair of releases in the streaming “Sooner or Later” and a Sapphire Goss-directed video for “Your Small Army.”

“At the core, these songs explore chaos, love, darkness, beauty, and redemption,” says Ryan. “Finding meaning in the mess, and light in the shadows.”

This new single and its creative lineage traces a path around the world, taking Ryan from Massachusetts to Australia to North Carolina, all while providing a reminder to stay grounded as life’s tension and instability creep up on us in our most vulnerable moments. Like all Soft Skies Inc compositions, there’s room for the listener to take it to their own emotional shelter, but there also exists a compass for the song to take the listener somewhere, as well.

More than anything, I want people to find their own meaning in the song,” Ryan adds. “But for me, it’s about the chaos of living a life that’s been off the rails for too long – trying to wrestle control over things that were never really in your hands to begin with. There’s a kind of madness in that. The line ‘just come down for a while’ is a plea – almost like someone shaking you awake. It’s a call to ground yourself before you burn out completely. That lyric, ‘you won’t treat those burns in a fire,’ is a warning. You can’t heal while you’re still standing in the flames. At some point, you’ve got to start doing things differently.”

Sin Some / Lose Some,” its title a foreboding twist on the familiar mantra about life’s ups and downs, reflecting on a “can’t win” scenario Ryan describes above, began to take shape after he relocated from Boston, where he and Martin were known for their work in ‘90s-era space rock band Lockgroove, to Sydney, exploring new surroundings and cultures while a significant distance from his best friend and family.

Sonically and melodically, “Sin Some/Lose Some”, is Soft Skies Inc at their very best . We felt like we were on a magical musical journey and we didn’t even leave our office.

The “Sin Some / Lose Some” artwork, utilizing an up-close photograph of a weathered and weary person gazing off, the focus on the eye and what it sees, was created by Lindsay Metivier of Peel Gallery in Carrboro, North Carolina. It feels like it belongs in the record bin alongside other college rock classics, and directs the viewer into the Soft Skies Inc world.

The otherworldly track , was produced by Ryan and Martin Rex with Chris McLaughlin at DeepSpace Studios, Brooklyn, New York . Engineered by Chris McLaughlin  and mastered by Rich Morales at Super Fine Audio, NYC

“Sin Some / Lose Some”, feels like a dream…. So please don’t wake us.

This Feeling” is a shimmering synth-pop track that absolutely shines. It blends lush, layered production with moments of quiet spaciousness. Fueled by kaleidoscopic synths, dreamy textures, and a pulsing, magnetic beat, the track builds with a steady rhythm that moves between tension and release in perfect balance.

At its core, the song is a reflection on uncertainty and inner resilience. “We all have those moments where the world feels unrecognizable and we’re not sure what’s coming next,” Ben and Katie share. “But there’s something inside of us that tells us to keep moving forward. Ultimately, ‘This Feeling’ is about trusting the voice inside that knows that there is still magic in the world.”

Since their debut over a decade ago, Paperwhite have captivated fans and tastemakers alike, earning praise from BillboardVice, and Buzzfeed, and landing spots on numerous Spotify editorial playlists. The New York-based duo became blogosphere darlings, twice named Hype Machine’s Most Blogged Artist, and have shared the stage with the likes of Oh WonderSOFI TUKKER, and Great Good Fine Ok.

After a brief hiatus, Paperwhite returned in late 2024, marking the start of a new chapter. Their upcoming EP, their first in nine years, stays true to their dreamy, synth-driven roots while weaving in organic textures and cinematic depth. Grounded in themes of self-discovery, perseverance, and quiet wonder, Paperwhite are crafting music that feels both nostalgic and entirely new.

Irish electronic duo Barbagianni release hypnotic debut single ‘Punch Drunk‘ featuring indie-pop chanteuse Daire Heffernan. You can listen to “Punch Drunk “ Here

We found ourselves totally enthralled with the musical style and beauty of “Punch Drunk” from Barbagianni, featuring Daire Heffernan.

Barbagianni is a two-piece synth-pop act consisting of Karl McCrone and Matthew Keating. Their debut single ‘Punch Drunk’, featuring Daire Heffernan.

Having worked with artists such as Lydia Ford, Theo Fitzgibbon and Lucy McWilliams, Karl and Matthew are treading new ground with lush electronic melodies over hard-hitting, kinetic drum beats. They will be releasing their debut album later this year

Barbagianni

Punch Drunk feat. Daire Heffernan is the first song we wrote together as Barbagianni. Back then, we would send snippets and ideas back and forth online, building it up slowly. We knew we had something special when Daire lent her voice to the track.
Her swirling, layered vocals complement the relentless groove from the drums and bass and the chorus kicks things into overdrive, with a mixture of crystalline synths and guitars.’

Punch Drunk”, from Barbagianni, featuring Daire Heffernan, is a magical and melodic song that you can’t ignore.

Ray And Paul Release Heartfelt And Authentic New Single, “Scars”

Album Art – @nic.supa

We recently had the stellar opportunity to check out Indie Rock Duo, Ray and Paul,   and their new single “Scars” that is out now on all platforms. You can listen to “Scars” Here

We were mesmerized with the overall tone and melody of “Scars” in from Ray and Paul. “Scars”, is an honest , heartfelt and poetic track that we simply couldn’t resist. There is a welcomed freshness with Ray and Paul that really stood out to us .

“Scars” is the second single that will be featured on their upcoming EP “Fading“. “Scars” is a heartfelt, mid-tempo track that lingers somewhere between sorrow and resilience.   Ray wrote the lyrics during his freshman year of college as “a reflection on the intensity of young love and the difficult process of moving forward when it’s lost.” Now, four years later, the song has come to life and carries the weight of experience and time. Recorded at The Ship in Los Angeles with producer Jarvis Taveniere (Allah-Las, Mild High Club)Ray and Paul are two brothers from the SF Bay Area who formed the band together when they were just 17 and 13 respectively.   Their first single “Mystery” in 2019, written when Ray was seventeen, made waves in their Bay Area Community and went on to feature in several Spotify Editorial Playlists, giving them the platform to record their Self-Titled Debut Album. “Butterflies” off the album landed a sync placement in HBO’s The Sex Lives of College Girls. Moving to Santa Barbara for college infused their music with Surf/Garage Rock’s reckless energy and let them cut their teeth while playing shows all over Isla Vista and integrating into the local band scene. In October 2023, the band released the track “Pelican” which is currently their number one track on Spotify. The follow up single “Blue”, which expanded their sound further by featuring vocal melodies over heavier guitars, has quickly become a favorite in the live show.  This year Ray and Paul have been touring all over the West Coast, selling out numerous clubs along the way. They also recently played SXSW 2025, Treefort Festival and supported Sun Room on tour. The live band also features Aidan Reese (guitar) and Mac Bihn (bass). Ray and Paul also recorded several new songs with John Goodmanson (Weezer, Pavement, Nada Surf, Hockey Dad) at Robert Lang Studios and an EP with producer Jarvis Taveniere (Mild High Club, Surf Curse, Allah Las) which is set to be released in 2025 via AWAL.

“Scars” from Ray and Paul, is an absolute can’t miss.

Wax Owls Have Our Complete Attention With New Single, “The Notice”

We recently had the opportunity to check out the new single, “The Notice “ from Los Angeles-based indie band Wax Owls . You can listen to “The Notice” Here

Wax Owls, blend indie-folk with elements of rock and country. Wax Owls, formed when friends Chris Tsaganeas and Gerry Hirschfeld quit their jobs…as lawyers!…to pursue their dreams and passions. Their music is for fans of The Lumineers, Bon Iver, Zach Bryan, The Shins and Mumford & Sons

Wax Owls explores themes of resilience, self-discovery and finding light in the darkest of times. For Hirschfeld, the impetus was tragically losing a professional mentor to suicide after the immense pressures of a high-stakes legal career. “We don’t want to look back and regret not having the time to do the things we love.”

Wax Owl’s latest single, “The Notice” draws you in with well-written and thought-provoking lyrics that are beautifully and carefully woven between breathtaking melodies. A good song may cause you to smile with acknowledgment. However, a great song stays with you forever. “The Notice”, from Wax Owls is a great song.

Wax Owls’ music has been featured on notable publications including Paste, American Songwriter, Atwood Magazine, Under The Radar, Earmilk, Buzzbands, and Variance.

“Good Day” From KTJ & CARLY Is Pop Perfection

We are absolutely over the moon excited, about the new single, “Good Day”, from Singer-songwriter and producer duo KTJ & CARLY . You can listen to “Good Day” Here

KTJ&CARLY have a one of a kind vibrant sound and style that you simply can’t ignore. “Good Day” is going to be your new favorite song…. You just don’t know it yet .

The opening groove on “Good Day” is your first clue that “Good Day” is going to be positively stunning. Sharp lyrics , couple with pristine vocals, KTJ&CARLY have brought their “A” game and it shows .

There is this brilliant church/ gospel feel to “Good Day” that adds a whole new dimension to a down right spectacular tune .

On “Good Day” KTJ & CARLY transform post-relationship bitterness into a euphoric, windows-down anthem that embraces their most chaotic instincts yet. They take a delightfully unhinged approach to post-breakup catharsis mingling a driving drum beat and a funky 20th-century infused bass line into the mix.

With a mischievous wink and an earworm chorus drowning in their emblematic harmonies, “Good Day” revels in the chaos of revenge fantasies, from the juvenile (TP’ing an ex’s house) to the downright felonious (setting their car ablaze—allegedly). It’s the perfect soundtrack to bad decisions, blending high-octane production with a darkly comedic edge. If “Good Day” is any indication, KTJ & CARLY are about to make heartbreak sound better than ever.

We were hanging on every word and note of “Good Day” and we think you will be as well.

Television Skies Craft A Timeless Gem With New Single, “Time Of My Life”

,

We recently had the amazing opportunity to check out the vibrantly brilliant new single, “Time Of My Life”, from New York City based duo, Television Skies( Spoiler Alert: It Is Freaking Awesome) You can listen to “Time Of My Life” Here

At the risk of sounding too corny , we had the time of our life , listening to “Time Of My Life , from Television Skies.

Television Skies, blend infectious pop rock energy with a vintage, feel-good vibe. Known for their anthemic hooks, raw emotion, and rebellious spirit, they create songs that hit with both nostalgic intensity and punk rock heart. Television Skies is redefining alternative pop music on their own terms — staying true, and free from disguise. Inspired by artists like The 1975, Coldplay and Arctic Monkeys, the duo craft intoxicating songs that speak to universal themes of love, identity, and perseverance.

Their latest single “Time of My Life” showcases the duo’s ability to combine the anthemic energy of classic rock with the storytelling and emotion of alternative pop. Capturing a moment of recklessness, the track details when you’ve gone too far, and there’s no turning back. They share, “There is a strong through-line throughout our music that aims to inspire and draw out the limitless potential of our generation. Turning to a more rock based sound for our new project to try to capture the nostalgic yet hopeful look toward a better and brighter tomorrow. It’s desperate, vulnerable, and raw, a crash in slow motion. All you can do is hope that the people you love will remember your life with a smile. There’s beauty in the wreckage, a feeling that’s both tragic and euphoric.”

Sonically, “Time of My Life” balances motion and reflection. Its fast pace and driving percussion mirror the urgency of pushing forward in life, while the reflective lyrics emphasize its nostalgic tone. Working alongside Cass Dillon (Morgan Saint, Devora, Billy Joel), “Time of My Life” sees the band entering a fresh approach to their songwriting, delving into themes of searching—searching for meaning, searching for identity, searching for a place where we belong.

Television Skies add, “Time of My Life is about making mistakes, losing control, and still finding a reason to keep going. If it inspires someone to take a risk, to chase something they’ve been afraid to go after, or even just to let go of whatever’s been holding them back, then we’ve done our job. There’s a freedom in accepting that life is messy, that you don’t have to have everything figured out, and that sometimes the best thing you can do is just throw yourself into the moment. More than anything, we hope our music gives people that push—to live fully, to love sincerely, and to believe that no matter where they are, they can always find their way home.”

In our opinion, ( feel free to debate us ) you need 3 things for a hit song, Skill, A Good Melody and a little luck. Television Skies, have absolutely hit the jackpot with Time Of My Life” . Run don’t walk to your closest music listening machine and get lost in the magic of , “Time Of My Life” from Television Skies.

We absolutely love the synergy generated from Magic Bronson, we especially felt this on “We Use To Settle”

Title-track “Good Dogs” is a playful dance track that speaks to the push and pull of attraction.  Lieberman explains, “The verses alternate between who’s in charge or metaphorically on the leash in the sense of who’s controlling the relationship at the moment. Musically it’s a 4 on the floor banger with a throbbing bass line and crunchy vintage synths.”

The playful “Show My Teeth” comes to life through oscillating, kaleidoscopic synths, and a fast-paced, move-inducing beat. Known for their experimental approach, the track keeps listeners on their toes, with unexpected twists and turns, including a second verse that serves as a nod to Paul McCartney’s part in The Beatles’ “A Day In The Life.”

Sunday Junkie Elevate Their Sound To A Higher Level, With Authentic New Single “Holy,Holy”

Art design by Tom Martin

We recently had the excellent opportunity to check out the new single “Holy,Holy” from Worcester, Massachusetts, alternative duo , Sunday Junkie. You can listen to “Holy,Holy” Here

“Holy,Holy”, from Sunday Junkie , is the kind of song that effortlessly finds it’s way into your soul and stay with you long after the music has faded.

Holy, Holy” is the third offering from the duo of multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Tom Martin and drummer and percussionist Shawn Pelkey, following the fall release of a pair of striking debut singles in “Vultures” and “Haunted Head.”

Each track will be featured on Sunday Junkie’s forthcoming debut album, due out sometime later this year. But before an overarching storyline emerges, these inaugural Sunday Junkie singles each strike a specific mood. As “Holy, Holy” twists and crawls through a dramatic atmosphere of tension, the duo quickly positions itself as a band with a lot to say and seemingly not a lot of time to say it.

Sunday Junkie, formed last year from the ashes of scene spark plug Not Bad Not Well,

I had issues with drinking in the past, and the lyrics on ‘Holy, Holy’ pretty heavily revolve around using alcohol as a means of self-medicating and ignoring a larger, underlying issue,” Martin adds. “It can be pretty insidious when it seems to provide relief, but the toll it’s taking is more evident to those around you and they just hope you can eventually see it too. The line ‘Honey on our tongues / Sucking on the rind’ is more of a reference to having everything at your fingertips, not realizing it, and choosing to throw it away instead.”

Familiar but deeply unique at the same time , Sunday Junkie have molded sonic and melodic tones to absolute perfection.

There is this real cinematic tone on “Holy,Holy”, that that really makes the track stand out . Martin and Pelkey have undeniable musical synergy that is front and center on “Holy, Holy”

Close your eyes and open your soul to the mystical soul of “Holy,Holy”

Fake Dad Keep It Real With Honest New Single “Machinery”

We recently had the opportunity to check out the new single “Machinery”, from Los Angeles , based indie rock duo- Fake Dad, you can listen to “Machinery” Here

The single is”about the pressure for women in music to package themselves as consumable, f*ckable products just to be taken seriously—and how that pits them against each other and themselves.

We love the style and vibe of “Machinery” from Fake Dad . ( Andrea de Varona (she/her) and Josh Ford (he/him) “Machinery” is a fierce emotional charged track with a powerful message.

This angry, teeth-grinding rock/pop track was written right after an industry showcase where every girl performing wore the exact same spike-studded bra—too concerned with sizing each other up to actually have a good time. As they eyed each other with loathing and borderline obsession, I stood in the corner feeling really sad that nobody was trying to connect, which is what we were all supposedly there to do. This song was written as a response to the way this kind of woman on woman (or more generally, artist on artist) hate perpetuates these spaces while the real culprits—our sick, sad society governed by narcissistic, billionaire white men—totally fly under the radar. In the end, the man is the real one we’re calling out. The one that we’re sick and tired of watching get what they want, while we sit back eating from their palm,” shares Andrea

Fake Dad, has an authentic realness that is felt throughout, “Machinery “ they are a duo who aren’t afraid to express themselves freely and their music shines because of this .

Aiming to strip away pretense and invite experimentation, they commandeered a garden shed from a friend and retrofitted it to make a twenty-track album that is vast, weird, and wholly unexpected.

Every track is a story and a feeling which through the in depth story telling of Penny&Sparrow come artfully to life .

The cinematic “Arm Candy” , featuring Annika Bennett, is a lush and beautiful track that belongs rightfully on the silver screen.

We found ourselves instantly singing along to “Breakdown” it feels like the kind of song that could be easily sung over a couple of pints .

On an album like “Lefty” it is almost impossible to pick one favorite . but if we had to pick one it would without question be, “Jeopardy” from the first time we heard the song , when it was released as a single we felt such an indescribable connection with the song . Some songs have a special way of finding their way into your heart , this definitely the case with “Jeopardy”

At its core “Lefty” is a brilliant display of well crafted music that needs to be shared with the world .

Off of their upcoming album, Good Dogs, their latest single “Show My Teeth” is all about the adventure and highs and lows you experience while on tour. Lieberman shares, “It can be super fun and thrilling but also fairly repetitive and exhausting. We wanted to capture that feeling of rolling from one city to another and the excitement but overall blur it can be waking up in a new city everyday and having 24 hours to experience what it has to offer before you have to hit the road again.”

Along with the vibrant single, the duo has also unveiled a fun video to go along with the track . Magic Bronson will be performing at the Moroccan Lounge on January 28th, as well as an album release party at Echo Bend in Atwater Village on the February 8th

The Whole Kameese: Interview: Royal She

We recently caught up with Los Angeles rock duo Royal She to learn more about the band and their new single “Silent Killer.

Thank you so much for taking the time to speak with The Whole Kameese. The first question is a two part question. Could you introduce yourselves and tell us how you came to be Royal She?

Hi, I’m Alison– the singer for Royal She. We were both in a band prior to this one called My Elysian, and this is our second band together.

I’m Alex, the guitarist. Royal She originally started as Alison’s solo project, but then I joined full-time

2- When listening to Royal She, we hear so many different styles that make up the sound of Royal She. Can you tell us what are your main influences and how would you describe the sound of Royal She .

Alison: Our main influences are all over the place from TLC to Alanis Morrisette to Evanescence, Portishead, Phantogram and the Deftones. We’re both huge music lovers and all the different genres of music that we love have influenced us, so our sound really is a blend of everything we love. I guess if I had to try to label it I would say it’s rock, pop, hip hop, alt, and electronic.

Alex: A polygamous marriage to all our musical influences described by Alison.

3- If Royal She could tour with anyone, who would it be ? and why?

Alison: I would so love to tour with Linkin Park, especially now that Emily is singing with them. But there are so many bands we’d love to tour with like Garbage, Alanis, Paramore, PVRIS, No Doubt.

Alex: I would love to tour with a bad ass female lineup. Pretty much all the artists and bands that Alison mentioned along with up-and-coming artists as well! Actually, that would be an epic festival.

4- How did you come up with the name Royal She?

Alison: We wanted a name that really represented us, our ideals, and the power of women. This name really just hit all of that for us. It’s about connecting to the power of the divine feminine after the world has lived under Patriarchy for so long.

5- Can You talk about the creative process? Does one person come up with the music and or lyrics or is it a joint effort?

Alison: It’s really a joint effort and a beautiful, connected experience. When writing, Alex started playing a riff and I started singing melodies and lyrics. For the most part Alex writes the music and I write the vocal melodies and lyrics. We both are involved in every step of the production and mixing of each song.

6-What is the first record that you bought ?

Alison: TLC Crazy, Sexy, Cool.

Alex: Crazy Sexy Cool was the first CD I bought too!

7- How did the latest single , “Silent Killer “ come to be?

Alison: “SIlent Killer” was one of three or four songs we wrote in one writing session. I was laying on the ground and Alex was playing the guitar on the couch as protools recorded. She started playing a riff and I started singing a siren type melody. From there, the concept of writing a song about a woman that is siren-like became the topic. From there, lyrics flowed and we had a fun little bop.

Alex: After writing some depressing songs, we wanted to liven up the mood and write a dancey tune. Silent Killer is uplifting even though we’re essentially speaking about a woman who eats you up and spits you out, but we kinda like it. Haha. It’s a masochist approach but you can’t help but dance to the beat.

8- The music of Royal She is authentic and honest. What advice would you give to new musicians just starting out ?

Alison: Be authentic to yourself. Say what you need to say and sing and don’t think about how anyone will receive it. This is your art, it has to be for you and your soul.

Alex: Play as much as you can, create, and experiment. Don’t get too drawn to outside critics, especially your own criticism. It’s all a process that’s leading you to authentically express yourself, even if at times you think your music sucks. It’s about being true to yourself and your craft one paint stroke at a time.

9- What is your go to beverage of choice?

Alison: If we’re talking alcohol, I love a good bourbon. If we’re not talking alcohol, I love a strawberry bubbly 🙂

Alex: I have an obsession with kombucha.

10- What can we expect from Royal She in 2025?

Alison: We are releasing songs every 6 weeks until we release our album “Befores and Afters” and playing a big CD release show. Hopefully after that, we go on a summer tour!

Alex: Eat, Love, Play.

Thank you so much for taking the time to chat with us . We hope you have an amazing 2025 .

Royal She: Thank you so much, and right back at ya!

Royal She’s unique slice of synth-rock perfection, is on full display on “Silent Killer”

Known for their genre-blending sound, which mixes rock, pop, and electronic influences, the duo—featuring vocalist Alison Freed and multi-instrumentalist Alexandria Reyes—has steadily captured attention with their bold, empowering music. Canyons and Locusts Offer Up Perfection With Latest “Anna Save A Life”

We recently had the absolute honor to check out the new single “Anna Save A Life” from Boston and Phoenix melodic noise-rock duo, Canyons and Locusts. You can listen to the glorious new single “Anna Save A Life” Here

From the moment we heard the first note on “Anna Save A Life”, from Canyons and Locusts, we knew we were listening to pure melodic greatness. Everything about this song is drop dead perfect.

“Anna Save A Life” , is the first dose of new music from the Boston and Phoenix melodic noise-rock duo since March’s The Red Angel EP, a record dedicated to late Red on Red Records founder Justine Covault that earned mentions in Stereogum, Brooklyn Vegan, and elsewhere. And it’s the attention-grabbing inaugural blast from vocalist, guitarist, and bassist Justin Keane and drummer Amy Young’s forthcoming concept album, The Goal Gigolo, surfacing sometime in the early stages of 2025.

Courtesy Of The Band

To understand the unfolding world of The Goal Gigolo, a discordant, anti-hero record that draws together several storytelling narrators underneath Canyons and Locusts’ unhinged wall of fuzzed-out rock and roll, one must first embrace Anna. Even if our central eponymous character doesn’t quite understand who she may be or how she plays into this universe.

“Anna Save A Life” is a song from the vantage of a guy looking at the pit,” Keane says. “The line at the beginning of the song – ‘neon lights and empty nights, my disgrace’ – is the rosetta stone for this one. This album is the story of a pretty flawed protagonist, himself The Goal Gigolo, who’s made some bad decisions and has gotten himself into trouble trying to help people in his new location. He’s got to go through some shit to get back on his feet again, and he’s looking at that pit he’s about to jump into, but at that same time he’s got enough gallows humor to imagine writing a letter to someone named Anna who might very well save someone’s life – a life, not necessarily his.”

Produced by Keane and Ethan Dussault, and recorded and mixed by Dussault at New Alliance Studio in Somerville, MA, with mastering by Nick Zampiello at New Alliance East earlier this year, “Anna Save A Life” is a tale of desperation. It’s also the first Canyons and Locusts track to feature bass guitar, adding a low-end thunder to the band’s chaotic cacophony of sound.

There is beautiful fiber of kinetic energy that flows effortlessly throughout “Anna Save A Life” It’s a familiar and relatable feeling that lives within all of us and Canyons and Locusts beautifully and loudly bring it to life .

Eighty Ninety Absolutely Shine With Melodically Perfect New Single “Yourself”

We recently had the amazing experience to check out the latest single “Yourself” from Eighty Ninety the indie-pop project of brothers Abner (vocals, production) and Harper (guitar, production) James

You can listen to “Yourself” Here

Anytime we get to listen to the beautiful melodies of Eighty Ninety , we consider it a good day and their latest “Yourself” does not disappoint.

Marking their first release since their self-titled debut album, “Yourself” is a pulse-pounding, emotionally charged track that captures the band’s signature blend of indie-pop energy and introspective lyricism. With its catchy sound and deeply relatable narrative, “Yourself” is set to strike a chord with listeners.

Yourself’ is about the quiet disconnect that can exist between two people, even when they’re physically closeand how easily things slip away when you’re not fully present and when you’re not giving yourself over to something,” Abner says. “We tried to capture those small, unnoticed moments that eventually add up, leaving you wondering what exactly you missed along the way until you realize what you missed wasn’t ‘something’- it was everything.”

Eighty Ninety fuse intimate storytelling, sticky melodies, and minimalist pop productions built on acoustic instruments and electronic sounds in a style they call “808s and telecasters”—a shorthand for both their music and their anything-goes mentality in the studio. The band first made waves in 2016 with their debut EP, Elizabeth, featuring the viral hit “Three Thirty.” Since then, the New York-based duo have amassed over 35 million streams, earned acclaim from tastemakers like Alternative Press and Billboard, and secured sync placements on Netflix and MTV shows.

We love everything about Eighty Ninety, they have a style and vibe that is pure music perfection. Make sure you check out “Yourself” from Eighty Ninety it is a pure musical gift.

Your Small Army” rekindles Soft Skies Inc’s shimmering luminosity, and plays with our notions of chromesthesia as Goss‘ visuals come to kaleidoscopic life. The video finds the Brothers Rex, known for their work in Boston’s ‘90s space rock band Lockgroove, dipping into their musical vault to develop a visual accompaniment to the lush and bittersweet track, bringing back into focus an exploration of a faded relationship and the mental gymnastics we endure to ignore its reality.

I always want people to find their own meaning in the songs, so I don’t want to go too in-depth, but to me this is a relationship song,” Ryan Rex admits. “It’s about that point in a relationship where some of the luster has worn off, and you know you are probably not with the right person, but you’re still holding on to that heady and magical feeling of attraction and connection that brought you together in the first place, all while not wanting to admit the truth that things are starting to disintegrate.”

The visual for “Your Small Army” from Soft Skies Inc. is a lush and dream like experience that, we absolutely couldn’t not take our eyes off of. The collaboration between the brothers Rex and Sapphire Goss is a stroke of artistic genius.

“Your Small Army” was written and arranged by the brothers, with Ryan Rex on vocals, guitar, bass guitar, and keyboards; and Martin Rex on drums, percussion, backing vocals, and keyboards. It was recorded by Chris McLaughlin at 1867 Recording Studio in Boston, co-produced by the trio, and mastered by Heba Kadry at Timeless Mastering in Brooklyn.

Soft Skies Inc Delivers An Absolutely Otherworldly New Single “Sooner Or Later”

We recently had the opportunity to check out the new single “Sooner Or Later “ from Philadelphia brothet duo of Ryan and Martin Rex (known for their Boston work in ’90s space rock band Lockgroove. You can check out “Sooner Or Later” Here

“Sooner Or Later “ from Soft Skies Inc gave us all the feels . The well crafted melodic gem, is a work of art .

For Soft Skies Inc, the Philadelphia-based identical-twin duo and longtime musical confidants Ryan and Martin Rex, their shared sonic compass draws a straight line from the classic alternative of their youth to the modern alternative and dream-pop of today. Both sides of this sonic bliss are on kaleidoscopic display in their vibrant new single “Sooner Or Later,” set for streaming release today (Tuesday, September 17).

That day, perhaps not coincidentally, throws it back to the New Music Tuesday scene we all grew up with, when we’d race to our favorite record stores and acquire and absorb everything that felt exciting. It’s also the Brothers Rex’ birthday, making this track, with its aural Easter eggs for Joy Division and The Cure and tonal DNA – which traces my bloody valentine, early R.E.M., New Order, The Smiths, and Spiritualized – all the more mindful of those wistful and joyful memories.

For some of us here at The Whole Kameese listening to “Sooner Or Later “ felt like taking a blissful trip in the “Way Back Machine “ we loved every moment of it.

“‘Sooner Or Later’ is filled with bittersweet nostalgia for a time in one’s life that was innocent and free,” says Ryan. “I think no matter your circumstances, most can point to a period, usually younger years, where the world feels open, limitless, profound – before ‘real life gets in’. The song both lyrically and sonically reminisces about this time and laments the fact that we all get mangled – even under the best of conditions – and that sooner or later this is inevitable. And that somewhere deep down, we all know it’s inevitable.”

“Sooner Or Later” from Soft Skies Inc is a must listen!

Penny & Sparrow Deliver Absolute Magic with New Single “Country”

We recently had the golden opportunity to check out the new single “Country” from critically acclaimed Austin, Texas indie folk duo, Penny & Sparrow.(Andy Baxter and Kyle Jahnke) “Country” is the third single following “Ketamine “ featuring Tobe Nwigwe and “Mattering Ram” all three tracks will be included on Penny & Sparrow’s upcoming album Lefty to be released January 31, 2025. Catch the band at Austin City Limits on October 4.

You can listen to “Country” Here

Penny & Sparrow have a unique one of a kind sound that warms the soul.”Country” from Penny & Sparrow feels like absolute breath of fresh air.

Penny & Sparrow produced the entire record with  few songs co-produced by their dear friend, Jonathan Oliphant

The band says, “We made Lefty 20 tracks long and gave ourselves acreage of song space to experiment. We wanted to record a double album for the challenge of it, and also for the chance to be sonically rangy and eccentric. The idea of offering all sorts of sounds, structures, melodies, and lyrical approaches in 20 songs was creatively exciting to us, so we did it. We helped build a recording studio in a buddy’s old toolshed and we made most of the record inside it. There were a few field trips to bigger studios in Florence, AL (Portside & SunDrop) but most of Lefty came from that retrofitted garden shed. We wanted to hold genre lightly and take a less curated approach to Lefty, so we followed our noses and made every song we wanted to along the way.”

The album highlights the duo’s ability to craft a distinctive “indie acoustic” sound while seamlessly blending elements from various genres due to their and their exceptional songwriting skills.

Take the single “Country,” for example—it initially comes across as pure country. However, with Penny & Sparrow’s unique touch, it seamlessly merges with indie folk influences. This track is just a glimpse of what fans can anticipate from the full album when it’s released.

We have fallen deep for “Country” from Penny & Sparrow. We are awash in the big beautiful, sweeping melodies and we can’t get enough . Do yourself a favor and go to your favorite music listening spot and get lost in the beauty of “Country” from Penny&Sparrow
