We recently had the absolute honor to check out the debut album , “Everything You Ever Wanted” via Another Year Collective / Financial Records, from Massachusetts Emo/ Alternative band, Lovewell. You can listen to “Everything You Ever Wanted” Here

We listen to a lot of bands, ( we are a music blog that’s what we do) However, and we have talked about this in the past , sometimes we listen to a record that completely moves our heart and soul. “Everything You Ever Wanted “ , from Lovewell, is definitely one of those records.

The singles , on the album, “Less Than Forever, “Make Me Whole” and “Want To Bloom “ appropriately showcase a band who is melodically and socially dead perfect. But… the beauty of “Everything You Ever Wanted, is those songs are only the tip of the iceberg. Lovewell, has constructed 9 beautifully woven songs that are next level.

When we close our eyes and listen to the opening track , “Gloaming” it is easy to understand how Lovewell, have captured 2 minutes and 41 seconds of musical perfection.

The authoritative crunch groove in the beginning of “Go About “ showcases yet another dimension of the band and we are absolutely here for it .

Cape Crush Beautifully Balances Brilliance And Melody With Debut Album, “Place Memory “

Listening to Cape Crush and their debut LP, “Place Memory” feels much more than just listening to a bunch of songs . “Place Memory” is a musical experience. From start to finish the songs on the album tug at your heart and soul and it is absolutely beautiful.

From the moment we heard the glorious and glowing feedback on “I Don’t Care About Anything “ we could feel the amazing energy that flows throughout “Place Memory”

Artfully woven throughout “Place Memory “ are important lyrical themes of grief, single-parenthood, friendship breakups, mental health, neurodivergence, and even a bit of the metaphorical, like tangent universe theory. Cape Crush invites you and layers their message with sonic and melodic perfection as only they can

Part of what I love about these 10 songs is how they demonstrate our range as a band,” says Cape Crush vocalist and guitarist Ali Lipman. “We’ve become known for our big-guitar power-pop meets emo sound, but Place Memory is not just more of the same. We also explore slower tempos, more stripped-down arrangements, and some Americana stylings. Despite the contrast, the sequence of the record flows in a way I really enjoy. There’s something for everyone, but it is a story with a proper beginning and a proper ending.”

The Place Memory story began unfolding with the release of two livewire singles in January’s “Calm & Delivered” and February’s title track, with both music videos surpassing 200,000 plays each on YouTube. Two more singles arrived ahead of the record drop in March’s “Come Shed Your Light on Me” and late-April album appetizer “Train in Motion.”

Each song opens a new storyline, and now Cape Crush bring the overarching themes together by unleashing Place Memory unto the world on the first of May, highlighted by an in-store performance at Wanna Hear It Records’ Watertown location on Saturday, May 2, the official release party July 10 at Deep Cuts in Medford, and a tour with Mallcops right after.

The most challenging aspect of creating the album was simply finding the time to create it,” admits Lipman. “It’s so challenging to find time for making things between full-time jobs, parenting, and other commitments. James [Christopher, guitarist] and I work really hard to make sure we don’t lose momentum on Cape Crush songs we both love by working on arrangements and crystallizing the song structure together. Once we’re in the studio creating together, that’s when things are the easiest. We have a great working rhythm and have so much fun together.”

In Cape Crush, Lipman and Christopher are rounded out by Jake Letizia on bass and Mike O’Toole on drums, a relatively new recruit who recently filled in for former drummer and band confidant Cody Rico, who hung up his sticks due to health issues.

Recorded and produced by Zach Weeks at God City Studio in Salem, Massachusetts, and mastered by Magnus Lindberg, Place Memory is an urgent statement of intent, a whipsmart declaration of purpose, and a sonic edict of a band comfortable enough in its own skin to show off the bumps and bruises collected en route to putting together a record that’s relatable simply because it’s so personal.

Cape Crush’s power-emo sound is complemented on “Come Shed Your Light On Me”, by a slight Americana twang courtesy of lapsteel by Tom Stevens. In the song, Lipman opens up about coming to terms with the regret she felt in her early 20s after her mother was killed by a drunk driver. The tragic incident happened not long after Lipman gave birth to her son.

“I wanted to reflect on the stage of life I was in before her death, recognizing how youth, distraction, and inexperience kept me from fully appreciating the time we had together,” she shares. “The song explores that painful awareness, as well as the disorientation of sudden loss and the struggle to make sense of it all. At its core, this song is about how grief becomes a lasting expression of love, shaping how I move through the world and reminding me to stay present, because nothing is guaranteed.”

We really like the sonic direction of this song, it really shows the inner musical soul of the band.

We generally agree with the description that Massachusetts based band Cape Crush, is power-emo band . However… when you really stop and dive into the melodically and socially pleasing sounds of Cape Crush, you quickly realize that they have a sound that is truly otherworldly and “Place Memory” showcases this sound front and center.

vocalist and guitarist Ali Lipman reflects back on a peaceful day spent with her sister. Together, the two fix up their house, paint it a vibrant shade of blue, and discuss the poetry of Robert Frost before Lipman waves goodbye to her sibling, who then sails out to sea. They wave to each other; Lipman back on the shoreline, and the sister fading from view out on the horizon.

But that day, in fact, never happened. Instead, it’s part of a daydream journey that was the result of some life choices Lipman made along the way, and how the opposite of those choices can exist in a parallel universe with a sense of calm and comfort guiding the way.

“The term ‘Place Memory’ is the supernatural theory that a place can hold an energetic memory,” Lipman says, “like when you hear ghostly footsteps or a disembodied voice, that perhaps you’re not hearing something intelligent, you’re hearing a repeat of that memory played back to you as if on tape. Or maybe you’re hearing your sister on the other side of the veil?”

An urgent swell of emo, post-hardcore, and alt-rock, with lightning guitar riffs wouldn’t sound out of place on an early-aughts Coheed and Cambria album and saccharine sweet vocals that exude an inviting tone and nature, “Place Memory” continues to thematically shape the album – officially out May 1 on digital, CD, and vinyl – that features it.

The track follows September’s “Longsword (4th Place),” which marked the band’s first release in two years and reintroduced them with a sharpened sense of purpose and sonic ambition.

If “Longsword” was about confronting stagnation, “Ordinary Hell” digs deeper — turning inward to explore faith, exhaustion, and the search for meaning amid emotional and spiritual burnout.

We recently had the amazing opportunity to check out the new single, “Painting Of A Tree” , from Boston , based “farm “ emo band, Tiberius. You can listen to “Painting Of A Tree” on Spotify Here and on Apple Music Here

There is a real cinematic feel on “Painting Of A Tree” from Tiberius.

Tiberius was originally a solo outing for Rutland, VT-based songwriter Brendan Wright(they/them), with the project growing to a four-piece band upon Wright’s relocation to Boston. This expanded lineup produces a catchy and cacophonous sound that blends Indie Punk, Alt Country and Psychedelia with confessional, conversational lyrics, which they describe as “Farm Emo.”

Following the more frantic Emo Rock sounds of the “Sag“ and “Felt“ singles, and the rustic Poppy warmth of “Moab,”this new single is an aching, slow-burning sprawl, which takes a left turn into darker territory. Downtempo instrumental breaks clash with pounding percussion and raw distortion, as Wright exorcises demons through introspective lyrics like “I hope they love you / Like I do / At least the way I wanted to / Not the way I did.”

Speaking on “Painting of a Tree,” Wright shares:

“There’s this older man I work with – a kooky gentleman who’s kind of off his rocker – but at the same time can incite this erudite understanding of the human condition. When I asked him if he had any advice for someone really mulling over some heartache, he chuckled. He said, ‘an artist cannot paint a tree, unless they examine all aspects of it.’ I wrote, Painting of a Tree, as an homage to this idea that this kind of hurt was a truly human experience. A kind of pain I wouldn’t wish on anyone, but something that I feel thankful to have experienced. The kind of pain that makes us who we are.” – Brendan Wright (they/them)

Written by lead vocalist and guitarist Ali Lipman, “Blank Wall” is as much a protest as it is a personal reckoning. Sam, returns with his poignant new single, “Long Way Back,”a raw, reflective track that dives into the emotional wreckage of staying too long in the wrong place.

“Long Way Back” blends Sam’s emo-rooted honesty with stripped-down, Americana textures—including a touch of mandolin—that deepen the song’s introspective weight. It’s a story of heartbreak told in hindsight, where clarity only arrives once you’re already lost.

“I was with someone special for a long time, but deep down, I always knew it wasn’t right,” he shares. “One day, you wake up miserable, wondering how you got there. Dress Rehearsal’ sees Our Nameless Boy return to the lyrical themes of introspection and self-analysis which made 2021’s ‘Colour From The Doves’ so unique. Exploring further the deep complexity of the human condition, vocalist Iain Gorrie delves into his learnings for a four-and-a-half minute crescendo of delicate, internally-directed frustration and understanding

On the lyrical content of ‘Dress Rehearsal’, Gorrie says ‘[the track] touches on the idea of reflecting upon a conversation or encounter and wishing you’d done or said something differently. My wife’s ability to think and process new information, as well as her emotions, and ultimately speak her mind with clarity and confidence in the moment is something I envy and try my best to emulate. More often than not though, I feel I need time to process and adequately verbalise whatever instincts I have, and that can be frustrating for me, and perhaps the people I’m with. The ‘Dress Rehearsal’ in question then is the imagining of how a situation could go – getting in the way of being wholly present in that situation.’

As soon as we heard the first note of “Save Me” from Portuguese alt rock trio Treewax, we were instantly mesmerized. The sound and vibe on “Save Me” from Treewax, is next level alt-rock perfection.

“Save Me” , dives into the complexities of love, loss, and the desire for redemption.

The track is the latest to be taken from Portuguese shoegaze/post-metal band ICOSANDRIA and alt-rock trio TREEWAX’s forthcoming split EP, Void Intention, set for release 18th April 2025—a dynamic and emotionally charged collection of tracks that traverses one band’s immersive atmospheres and the other’s raw intensity with confidence.

ColorMeKrazy! Deliver Vibrant And Electrifying EP “Paint The World”

We were first introduced to Raleigh, North Carolina based Hyper-Rock/ Emo band , ColorMeKrazy last March , when we checked out their single “Ex-Friend “ which in case you were wondering we loved almost immediately, saying “We were captivated by “Ex-Friend , by ColorMeKrazy from note one , it was love at first listen.”

We then made ColorMeKrazy, our “Artist Of The Day” for March 7th 2024 . We had a chance to chat with the band and get to know them. Including their beverage of choice. Mia declared they are a healthy bunch, and they are always bringing water to things! But probably a more fun answer is whatever soda they decide to pick up at Cookout!,Zach added: & A few of us enjoy dabbling in all things whiskey!

We then got to check their new single “Fences” in September. remarking, “Fences” from ColorMeKrazy! is a frantic melodic blur of hype rock goodness. We were instantly hooked from note one.

Commemorative Cup , have captured such a dynamic and melodic sound on “For A Limited Time Only “ , that is absolutely breathtaking.

After years of playing largely supporting roles in Boston bands together and separately, Ben Husk (aka Wiggles) and Kevin McGrath have created the project they’ve always talked about.

Every song on “For A Limited Time Only “ is a fascinating well constructed piece of music that stays with your soul , long after the music has ended . “33s” , stands out for the strong vocal performance as well as the overall sonic and melodic goodness on the track .

Ben Husk and Kevin McGrath prove almost instantly on “For A Limited Time Only”, that they are both highly skilled musicians who are not afraid to experiment freely with music to construct sonic and melodic works of art.

On February 4th, 2023, 95COROLLA self-released The Loud Fast Sad EP to all their friends in Nashvilles. It represented the beginning of the band escaping from Kristy Garrett’s laptop and into the world. It was done hastily, and with reckless abandon.

The new EP is louder, faster, and sadder with one more song. LOUDER / FASTER / SADDER is the end of a chapter for the band and an end of a wild year in general.

We recently had the epically awesome opportunity to check out the new album “Dead End Lullabies “ from Pacific Northwest indie punk band Old Cross , and it is a freaking work of melodic punk goodness.

Right from the first note on the title track “Dead End Lullabies “ the hair on the back of our neck stood up and we got major goosebumps. If you are going to listen to one song today it has to be “Dead End Lullabies “ it is hands down one of the best songs we have heard in the almost 5 years of doing The Whole Kameese.

The crazy thing about the new album is, sometimes you only get one song and the rest are fillers. This is not the case with the new record “Dead End Lullabies “ from Old Cross. Every song is a genuine punk masterpiece. We can’t think of a better way to spend 37 minutes of your day .

Frontman Chris Hahn says, “I wrote this album in the midst of losing my dad. That depression took me to the darkest corners of Portland at times. I would find myself in the city until the early morning and would try to write as often as possible when I was out. I met so many people going through similar troubles and found camaraderie and support in some of the most unlikely of places. This record is the city through my eyes in those times.“

This is absolutely an album that you can’t miss. Pristine soaring vocals coupled with incredibly perfect melodies that will simply take your breath away. Run, Don’t walk to your favorite music listening space and get lost in the greatness of “Dead End Lullabies “ from Old Cross.

We love the style and sound of Lovewell (Mark Palladino, Drums/Vocals, Joe Bradshaw, Guitar/Vocals and Jake Watkins,Bass) and it most definitely shines through brightly on “So Close” and “Balancing Act”

“So Close” is a beautifully orchestrated melody with a very flawless vocals that we couldn’t get enough of. We definitely hit repeat on this one . We also may or may not have been singing along instantly.

What we love about Lovewell is how well established the melodies are . The band definitely takes great pride in their craft and it shows.

Ellen May was formed early 2022 in Perth, Western Australia, when Matt Matusik and vocalist Matt Branton connected via a local networking group. Demos and ideas were pinged back and forth, a friendship was made, and a musical bond was forged.

Ellen May’s debut EP ‘A Lonely Way To Go‘ is a 4 song collection of songs themed around the fact that we all die alone, even when surrounded by various relationships.

All 4 tracks on “A Lonely Way To Go” are well crafted songs with strong and catchy melodies coupled with memorable and perfectly placed vocals .

Opening track “How It Came To This” really peaked our interest, as it has an indie rock feel at the start . But, it developed into a stunning well crafted power pop gem . “Misconstrued “ shows of the great chemistry between Matusik and Branton. “Hawthorne” has a sad boy pop feel that the duo flawlessly executes . We had “Hawthorne” on endless repeat . Our favorite track is the closing track “Back To The Start” It is the kind of song that stays with you long after the music stops . We absolutely loved it .

As of late the Pop Punk sound has definitely found its way back into mainstream music. While Munich based Cadet Carter consider themselves very much part of this genre, their sound is much closer to the likes of Jimmy Eat World and Taking Back Sunday than it is to artists like Machine Gun Kelly, Mod Sun and Avril Lavigne

The Munich-based band, fronted by Welsh lead singer Nick Sauter, has made quite an impact on the European music scene since starting out in late 2017. Their 2020 album Perceptions made it to #14 on the European Alternative Rock chart, and before the pandemic stopped all touring, the band played a ton of shows supporting artists like Touché Amoré, The Dangerous Summer, Stand Atlantic and As December Falls.

We absolutely love the latest single “My Favourite Place from Cadet Carter “ featuring Kayleigh Goldsworthy. When the two join forces the results are absolutely stunningly brilliant.

The energy on “My Favourite Place” is absolutely off the charts . Cadet Carter are expert level musicians who craft well written songs with both memorable hooks and melodies that will keep you singing for days .

What began in 2014 as a local punk rock festival in a 1500-capacity club, has grown into a massive stadium-sized 2-day destination event, featuring the punk scene’s biggest and brightest, while keeping its independent DIY roots intact.

Festival founder Rishi Bahl said, “10 years is a long time. Most things that you were into 10 years ago have not survived, so to reach the 10th anniversary of Four Chord Music Fest is something we are very proud of. We really tried to make this one the biggest and best one yet and are stoked to spend the weekend with all of you at our brand new, historical landmark of a location, The Carrie Furnace. Get out the sunscreen and bring the Advil, it is going to be a party.”

This year, Four Chord Fest welcomes the nonprofit partner Biggies Bullies. Established in 2011, this Pittsburgh-centered organization is dedicated to the rescue and rehoming of pitbull-type dogs in both Pittsburgh and its neighboring regions.

Additional sponsors include Monster Energy Drink, Pabst Blue Ribbon, and Captain Morgan.

LA Punk/Power-Pop Band For Closure Find Another Gear With Latest Single “Moon At Noon”

Frontman Gizz Lazlo says, “”Moon at Noon” was written a few days after my dad’s first major heart attack in May of 2018.

I was sitting on my parent’s porch while my dad lay in the hospital in a coma for 6 days. As I sat there confused and worried about what was going to happen, I needed to write something to calm my nerves a bit. Luis had sent me a demo that I’d listened to a few weeks prior.

While I was listening to the music over and over on my headphones, chain-smoking trying to distract myself, certain phrases kept coming back as I was humming melodies over the music.

A few hours later I’d finished these lyrics and just left them alone as I went back and forth to the hospital trying to deal with my mother and relatives who started arriving from Mexico to see my dad. When my dad was discharged from the hospital I couldn’t sleep thinking that this may happen again

. About a week after my dad was home I found myself in my studio wondering what these lyrics would sound like to the music. I spent about an hour behind the mic recording the original demo for this song.

I sent it to Luis and we instantly knew we HAD to record this song. It’s definitely not something we usually write together. That’s the thing I love about writing songs with Luis is that we both don’t care what people are going to think about them.

If “we” like them then let’s record them. Everything we’ve written in the past few years are songs about the dark side of life. Not everything is rainbows and butterflies. As much as we want it to be, it just isn’t. My hope is that whoever listens to our songs finds something that they can hold on to if they ever feel down.

I grew up with songs that helped me through some tough times. Maybe, just maybe we can help someone through their personal trauma with our songs. I’ve been close to the end many times, but I’m still here. So I guess the best advice I can give is to – Never Lose Hope!! You are loved!!”

We are absolutely over the moon for the new For Closure single “Moon At Noon”

Music is by far the best form of expression and For Closure have crafted an absolute gem.

What really makes “ Moon At Noon” shine , is how For Closure artfully works in not only punk and pop-punk elements in to the song , But, you also can also feel the Emo and melodic hardcore elements as well.

We can’t wait for more music from For Closure, “Moon At Noon” is an absolute can’t miss.

We Are Loving The New Video For “This # Is No Longer In Service “ From Swiss Army Wife

We are absolutely loving the new video for “This # Is No longer In Service “ from Portland-based emo/punk rock group Swiss Army Wife. The song and video are from the band’s spectacular debut album “Medium Gnarly”.

Swiss Army Wife collaborated with long-time Touche Amore & Joyce Manor Producer Alex Estrada to deliver their sugar rush of a debut record, Medium Gnarly.

Vocalist, Kade Dale , had this to share about “This # Is No Longer In Service “: “’This #’ is about the toll that being constantly connected and on-call takes on your mental health. It can be hard to find space just to exist when anyone can hit you up at any time for any reason. At some point, even interacting with people you love starts feeling like a chore–which is terrifying. You start turning inward and shutting people out. Eventually, you’re stuck in your head, trapped in a slow panic, and the phone just keeps. fucking. ringing. I think that’s part of why this is the first track on the record–it’s an introduction to the sort of ‘I’m stuck here with my anxieties’ introspection that the rest of the album hovers around.”

Swiss Army Wife, without question , has given us one of our most favorite records of 2023 with “Medium Gnarly “ “This # Is No Longer In Service” is one track we definitely played a million times. We are so psyched to have an awesome visual that we will probably watch a million times.

Nervous Kids Release New Single “ Back To The Start”

We recently checked out California Emo Punks Nervous Kids and their new single “Back To the Start” out now via Wiretap Records. The track is ahead of brand new EP out in early 2024.

Lead vocalist/guitarist Ryan DeMint of Nervous Kids says, “This is a song about experiencing emotional burnout. Doing everything in your power to overcome mental struggles but somehow always ended up right back at the start with nothing changing. I think this is a situation many can relate to, this song definitely helped me cope with that when I wrote it a few years back.”

Although the band didn’t officially form until the summer of 2022, the emo-punk project Nervous Kids began as a solo act during the COVID-19 lockdown of 2020. With live music making a comeback and mandates being lifted, the 4-piece came together with the lineup consisting of Ryan DeMint on lead vocals/guitar, Damian Morales on bass, Arturo Lara on guitar and Rodrigo Rosales on drums. The band’s music takes inspiration from both punk and emo, bringing high energy and fast tempos with lyrics that delve deep into human emotions, ranging from topics such as depression, love, heartbreak and trauma. Since the inception of the band, they have continued to play as many shows as possible around their hometown of southern california. In March of 2023, the band embarked on their first official studio session with producer Alex Estrada (Joyce Manor/Touché Amoré) and released their single ‘Anyone but You’ on June 27th.

Nervous Kids have definitely caught our attention with the well crafted “Back To The Start” . They are without question a band we will be keeping our eye on in 2024
