We recently had the exhilarating experience to check out the new single, “Sugar On My Tongue “, from Bath’s indie-americana four-piece Young Martyrs. You can listen to “Sugar On My Tongue” Here
This is the second single to be taken from their upcoming third studio album ‘Might Just Be Enough’, arriving in the Summer of 2026.
We were immediately taken with the glorious guitar sound on “Sugar On My Tongue “ , from Young Martyrs, it is an absolutely brilliantly crafted song that could possibly be the song of the summer.
This song is one of three on the album written by lead guitaristRich Beeby. Discussing the lyrical themes explored in the single, Beeby says, “The band rocks and rolls in this song so it needed a lyric that’s raw and does most of its thinking from the neck down. It’s about the visceral feelings of unspoken attraction and physical longing, and how those feelings might be suppressed, but can eventually develop into fantasy or obsession. It’s really down to the listener to decide if surrendering to that intoxicating lustfulness should be avoided or celebrated.”
Alongside the single, the band filmed a music video in one of their hometowns of Bristol, deciding to film the video at both local rehearsal studio Firebird Studios and Lick’n Chick’n takeaway near the cities centre. The video stars Lorien Tear and Sadie Evans who recently won Best Actress at the ‘It’s My Shout’ film awards.
The video was shot and directed by Rhys Davies of Furball Films, and follows its two lead actors as they portray the unrequited adoration of one young soul for another, and the object of the unwanted desire starting to warm to the idea. The band chose to record the video on the streets and surrounding areas of Bristol to celebrate their local culture and to tip their hat to the place where they first began to build their reputation.
Without hesitation or question, you need to check out “Sugar On My Tongue “ from Young Martyrs.

Before we get in to the thick of the amazingly crafted (The Life And Times Of ) Johnny Moonshine, from Dirt Road Souls , we just want to acknowledge how lucky we are to be alive and into music when a band like Dirt Road Souls are around. Maybe not today , maybe not tomorrow, but trust us you are going to find yourself reflecting about this treasure trove of an album for a long time.
You can listen to ( The Life And Times Of) Johnny MoonshineHere.
Having the word“Souls” in their band name is appropriate because this album is dripping of soul from start to finish.
Dirt Road Souls have their own tale to tell, and it’s one with a deliberately uncertain sense of reality and a timeline that stretches back to when our ancestors ruled the roads. It’s the story of Johnny Moonshine, the type of reckless Midwestern rebel we all once knew, and the type of kid we, at one point, at least, always wanted to be.
The titular character now finally gets his flowers, and the excesses of his legend are brought into the modern-day through the Boston-based Americana trio’s ambitious and eclectic roots rock opera (The Life and Times of) Johnny Moonshine, out today (Friday, April 3)
The release party, where we all join to raise a whiskey glass to Moonshine’s lost legacy, goes down Saturday, April 18 at The Midway Cafe for a matinee soiree in Jamaica Plain featuring Three At Home, Elisa Smith, Erin Bonnie.
Dirt Road Souls, a new band composed of Boston music scene veterans Davis Black (vocals and guitar), Rick Weden (drums), and Brian Sargent (upright bass, vocals, and mandolin), tell the epic tale of Johnny Moonshine, like only they can.
Across 12 tracks, each with its own chapter and personality, the legend of Moonshine unfurls as a poetic odyssey of freedom, failure, and attempts at vindication, all wrapped around the Boston trio’s knack for yearning Americana, melodic country rock, story-based Southern gothic, and even some ‘50s-era Sun Studio vibes permeating through.
Every song hits like a favorite distilled beverage, the next one a little more powerful than the last.
“Johnny always stays a step ahead of the law and in a short time he’s attained near-legendary status,”Black adds. “A smart kid, who could succeed at anything he wanted, dreams of a life in New Orleans making the myths on the casino boats. His girl Jenny has other plans. What follows are tales of bad decisions, consequences and ultimately a chance at redemption.”
Courtesy Of The Band
We found ourselves immediately drawn by the first track, “Johnny Moonshine “ not only does it serve as an introduction to the story , it really shines the spotlight on what a phenomenal group, Dirt Road Souls truly are. The single, “Next To You “ is probably one of our favorite songs on the planet right now , the groove is almost mythical.
We love the pace and throwback feel of “Dreams “ the vocals are full of emotion and perfection.
To pick a favorite among this sensational group of songs is nearly impossible. However, the one that really stood out to us was “GoingAway” we couldn’t get enough of it .
After listening to (The Life And Times Of ) Johnny Moonshine, from Dirt Road Souls, we believe our ears have experienced musical greatness.
We don’t know how we got so lucky but we had the amazing opportunity to check out the latest single “Attention Span” via Wicked Cool Records, from The Dollyrots.
Helmed by bassist/lead vocalistKelly Ogden, guitarist/vocalistLuis Cabezas, and touring drummerSimon Hancock, The Dollyrots are charging into spring with the release of their new single, “Attention Span,” arriving, today, (March 13 ) via Wicked Cool Records. The track lands alongside the band’s Spring Break From Reality Tour, which launched yesterday (March12 ) in Minneapolis with Keep Flying supporting.
We have said it before and will say till we are blue in the face … If you don’t fall hopelessly in love with music, when you hear The Dollyrots … you need to try harder. The Dollyrots have a vibe and sound that is off the charts . And…. If you add in their epic new single, “Attention Span “ ….. you will realize that you have stumbled upon absolute magic.
“Attention Span” continues The Dollyrots’ legacy of punchy, hook-driven pop-punk, pairing razor-sharp riffs with Ogden’s magnetic vocal delivery. The track balances grit and gloss with distorted guitars fueling the engine while melodies hit with sugar-rush velocity.

“It’s easy to feel overwhelmed with the intensity and rate of information thrown our way every day in this modern life. Important connections with each other and the earth seem to get lost in the shuffle. ‘Attention Span’ is a happy-sounding song about the confusion we feel right now,” shares Ogden.
You need to go find your favorite music and loose yourself in the melodic perfection that is “Attention Span”, from The Dollyrots.

‘A Little More’ follows a powerful cover of The Lumineers’ ‘Salt And The Sea’
We are going to cut right to the chase…..Massachusetts alt-rock band, Jennifer Tefft & The Strange, have caught lightning in a bottle, with their otherworldly , dark and mysterious , “A little More”( Strange Version) You can listen to the amazing track Here
This song was written during a point in my relationship where I felt like it was too one-way,” Tefft says. “Where I really wanted ‘A Little More’ from my significant other — communication, time, emotion, etc. – but I was afraid to say it out loud. I think it is a pretty common theme in relationships.”
Combine the past few years of cultural and societal anxiety bubbling over, an increasingly common feeling amongst us of never being truly satisfied, and The Strange’s newly crystallized lineup – Tefft on vocals and guitar joined by longtime collaborator and guitaristJohn Parrillo; Stephen “Sharky” Beccia on bass; and new recruit Chis Jost on drums, with former drummerTim Provost appearing on the recording of – and “A Little More” evolved into something a little more sinister, a little more fierce, and a little more demanding.
“A Little More” was originally written by Tefft during the Covid lockdown a half-decade ago, but the powerhouse vocalist and acclaimed musician was never satisfied with its overall composition and tone.
“A Little More” also acts as a companion track to “Salt and the Sea,” with a strong bass and drum groove, atmospheric guitars, and a driving chorus led by Tefft’s captivating vocals. It’s a swirl of moods that draws from post-punk and underground indie and alt-rock, while retaining Jennifer Tefft & The Strange’s penchant for hypnotic compositions that straddle a line between grit and glitz.
“The sound of ‘A Little More’ and ‘Salt and the Sea’ is the result of the band’s new lineup,” says Beccia. “The ongoing collaboration and input of each musician and their creative sound is what makes The Strange. It’s like a chemical reaction. You add or subtract new elements and the outcome will be different. Since Strange Beginnings, we continue to explore new possibilities but keep the baseline cemented. Meaning, new and exciting songs coming from a band that still sounds familiar.”
The track, was produced, mixed and engineered by Bob St. John. Its forceful sound was captured 37’ Productions in Rockland, MA, with mastering done by Adam Matza at Magic Ears Mastering.
Sometimes a song is absolutely everything your soul desires, this is absolutely the case with “A Little More” (Strange Version) , from Jennifer Tefft And The Strange .

We recently had the amazing opportunity, to check out the glorious new single, “Cast Out A Line”, from Los Angeles based band, Where’s West?. You can listen to “Cast Out A line” on Spotify Here and on Apple Music Here
It is next to impossible, in our opinion not to be instantly drawn to Where’s West? and their infectious new single, “Cast Out A Line”
The energy generated from , “Cast Out A Line” is a powerful groove filled vibe that we couldn’t help but effortlessly groove along to.
Based in Los Angeles,Where’s West?, have a sound that’s like a musical road trip—think pit stops at rock, indie, dance and a sprinkle of funk— they bring a 70s feel to a modern sound, inspired by the California coast. The band is fueled by love, positivity, and a shared mission to unite people through music.
Where’s West? was born in a small laundry room in the basement of their college house. Inspired by late night jam sessions, the band knew they had something special. With each member sharing a deep rooted passion for creativity and sound, they clicked instantly, transforming the laundry room space into a breeding ground for music. Their infectious energy quickly spread from college backyard shows to school concerts, igniting a fanbase that propelled them to the stages of iconic venues like Sweetwater Music Hall and the WonderfrontFestival. The band continues to push forward with exciting new sounds and energetic live performances. Fueled by love, positivity, and a shared mission to unite people through music, Where’s West? is on their way to make a solid impact in the music scene.
We have a feeling the band (Zan Curleigh (Vocals, guitar), Robbie Cullerton (bass), Aidan Babuka Black (Keys, Vocals), and West Hauser (drums). ) are just getting warmed up and we can’t wait to see what Where’s West, does next.
We recently had the stellar opportunity, to check out the glorious new single, “Paradise Lost”, from Needham (Ma ) native and front man , for the band, The Teardowns, Steve Geraci, You can listen to “Paradise Lost “ on Spotify Here. And on Apple Music Here
Right from the first note of , “Paradise Lost” it is a clear that Steve Geraci, has crafted a song with a classic soulful sound and a modern vibe .
The soulful sound found on , “Paradise Lost” , can be traced back to Steve’s first love, the saxophone.
“Early on, I was in alto and tenor sax sections where I developed a love for harmony and dynamics,”
says Geraci. “It felt great to bring those early roots forward here.”
“Paradise Lost” showcases another stylistic twist in Geraci’s shape-shifting approach to songwriting —something he fully embraces.
“Alt-pop, glam rock, R&B — they’re all represented on the new EP,” he says. “If you like variety, look no further. As long as the music feels authentic, I’ll bring it to listeners who appreciate different styles.”
Produced and engineered by Dave Westner (Peter Wolf, Dropkick Murphys) and recorded earlier this year at David Minehan’s Woolly Mammoth Sound in Waltham, Massachusetts, the track features Westner on drums, piano, and bass, alongside Geraci’s guitar, sax, and vocals.
With his time split between solo work and fronting The Tear Downs,Geraci has built a collaborative,non-territorial dynamic that allows freedom across projects. Following his well-received singles “VoiceIn My Head” (March) and “Save Yourself” (August), “Paradise Lost” adds a raw and soulful chapter to Geraci’s evolving solo story.
“‘Paradise’ was a risk taker for me — rough and raw, but really emotive and relatable,”Geraci concludes. “When we listened back to the rough mix, we knew we’d bottled pure octane.”
Steve Geraci, is a master class musician who has the incredible ability to bring songs to life with his extraordinary songwriting and storytelling skills. A Steve Geraci song feels like a New York Time’s Best Seller , but in song form and “Paradise Lost” is no exception.

Formed in early 2021. The group consists of Mike Scott (vocals/guitars), Jonathan Plevyak (vocals/guitars), Seth Rentfrow (vocals/bass, and Steve Mascarello (drums). “Lombardy’s new single, “I’m A Vibe,” is a pop rock anthem for anyone who’s ever felt like an outsider. We had the distinct honor to check out the blazing new album “Fool‘s Gold”, from Salem and Cape Cod grunge-pop and alt-rock band, The Fool’s Agenda. You can listen to “Fool’s Gold “Here
The Fool’s Agenda, have constructed a one of a kind vibe and sound on their sophomore album, “Fool’s Gold” We are absolutely smitten.
Led by a quartet of singles, including three unveiled just this year in the towering “Feel So High,” the anthemic “Monsters,” and August’s supercharged rock and roll popularity content take down “Dumb (Take Me Out)”, the new album from the Salem and Cape Cod-based powderkeg channels a certain nostalgic optimism that reflects its ‘90s-coded sound, all while aligning the band with a parallel journey that also ties the decade to the two that came before it.
The Fool’s Agenda, consists of a rock solid lineup with , vocalistRhiannon Raine; guitaristKyle Erickson; bassistJon Gray; and drummer and percussionistKamryn Bode.
“This album tells a story of coming home to yourself: Accepting yourself with where you’re at, owning your strengths and your weaknesses, and knowing when to walk away from the things and people that aren’t serving you anymore,” says Raine. “Life is messy as fuck. Own your mess and decide it’s beautiful.”
Erickson agrees, adding: “To me, this album is about independence. Being able to cut through the noise, so to speak, and just focus on things that matter. Recognizing your own faults and those in the world we live in and trying to make something positive of it.”
Where 2021 debut album Reversing The Tower was indebted to a more ethereal ‘70s flair for grandeur, connecting with the more theatrical sounds of Fleetwood Mac and Queen, Fool’s Gold blazes forward with a restless convergence of pop and grunge exemplified by some of the ‘90s’ finest moments.
“This album is distinctly different from our previous works; it’s less theatrical and more direct,” says Gray. “We had a clearer message to send through one collective voice, and naturally that changes the sound the band creates. It isn’t really a concept album, but there are themes that tie the songs together lyrically and phonically.”
Along with the powerful rock and grunge sound that is heard and felt throughout “Fool’s Gold” We also heard an addictive groove that is beautifully woven throughout the record, most notably on “Monsters”
Produced by Logan Tichnor, mixed and mastered by Franco Gravante and Tichnor, and recorded in Massachusetts at both Checkpoint East Studios in Orleans and The Record Co. in Boston, The Fool’s Agenda is a cohesive and comprehensive body of work, where each song emerges as a chapter to a larger, unfolding story. It reflects the highs and lows of life, the short bursts of fear or excitement, and the long, drawn-out emotions that soundtrack both the important and the mundane.
You need to go find your favorite music spot and bask in the glow of “Fool’s Gold”, from The Fool’s Agenda.

We recently had the amazing opportunity to check out the new album, “Salt” from Santa Cruz, California.beach rock project, Trestles
You can listen to “Salt” on Spotify Here and on Apple Music Here
We have said before and we feel it needs to be said again, Trestles, have such a unique sound and vibe that it is almost impossible not to be swept away by their musical wonderment. This is on full display on their glorious new record
Formed in 2021, the new band made a name for themselves playing in the college rock circuit during the major post-pandemic scene resurgence. While Trestles definitely allows the beach town aesthetic of Santa Cruz to seep into their music, the band is more interested in creating a sound that equally criticizes and celebrates west coast garage rock tradition.
By finding a balance between the nostalgia of 1960’s musicianship and the accessibility of modern garage rock textures and pop sensibility, the band’s sound aims to be relentlessly rooted in the present. This attitude is delivered through sarcastic, yet aware lyrics that aim to make living in the moment feel like a study in social politics. Trestles‘ music is plainly meant for whoever who wants to hear it.
After becoming a quintessential new band to look out for, Trestles released their first LP Halfway Up The Hill in 2022. Propelled by the success of local indie anthems Dwell & Rip Curl Sweatshirt the band embarked on a couple of west coast runs, playing numerous sold out shows in college towns. In 2024, Trestles was recognized as Santa Cruz’s “Band of the Year” for their explosive live shows, solidifying them as one to watch.
From the moment we heard the opening track, “Head First” we knew that “Salt” , from Trestles was going to be something special.
“Salt” is one of those magical records that there is not a bad song to be found. You can literally press play and enjoy.
“Babylon”, “Shake My Hand” and “Bones” are all solid well crafted gems that stayed in our soul long after the music faded .
However, the one song that we simply could shake was , “Having A Day” it is an absolutely brilliant song that every music lover needs to hear.
Trestles, are currently on their “Salt” tour . We have a feeling that they are a band that you can’t afford not to see live.
We recently had the amazing opportunity to check out the glorious new single, “Slicked Back Hair”, from breakout pop artist and producer elijah woods. You can listen to “Slicked Back Hair” Here
elijah woods, is an artist with a style and vibe that simply can not be ignored. We are absolutely smitten with the new single, “Slicked Back Hair”
Photos by Austin Calvello
Equal parts playful and heartfelt, “Slicked Back Hair” is a feel-good anthem about growth, vulnerability, and lasting connection. “This song is about meeting someone who changes everything—the kind of person who turns you from a caterpillar into a butterfly,” says elijah.
His debut album, Can We Talk?, marks a defining moment in elijah’s career. Over the past five years, he has built a global presence as a fully independent artist, amassing more than 1 billion streams, cultivating a fanbase of over 5 million followers, and touring the world entirely on his own terms. The record captures the intimacy and emotional depth that define his music, while leaning fully into the clever, infectious pop sensibilities that have fueled his rise.
Originally from Ottawa and now based in Los Angeles, elijah woods is a multi-platinum pop artist, singer, songwriter, and producer. Known for his irresistible hooks, vivid storytelling, and signature production style, he has become one of pop’s most compelling solo acts as well as a sought-after collaborator.
With 4x JUNO Award nominations, multiple platinum and gold certifications, and five EPs released in just the past three years, elijah’s independent ascent has been extraordinary. After selling out his first Canadian headline tour in 2023, he quickly expanded onto the international stage, selling out shows across Asia, opening for Niall Horan in Jakarta, and performing at Seoul Jazz Festival and Japan’sSummer Sonic Festival.
We recently had the distinct honor of checking out the amazing debut album, “MESS I’VE MADE” , from Boston, based alternative rock band, Big Rav “ ( SPOILER ALERT: 🚨 It Is Absolutely Breathtakingly AWESOME )
You can listen to the very epic, “MESS I’VE MADE” Here
We are going to be honest, as soon as we heard the opening note on the opening track, “Another Tomorrow “, on “MESS I’VE MADE” we were instantly enthralled by the one of kind , mind blowing sound of Big Rav
Big Rav will be playing their release show in support of the album Saturday, August 2nd at 7:00 PM at The Burren in Somerville, MA. Tickets are available for presale Here
Big Rav (Maddy Montaquila, vocals, keys, Dan Colvin, guitar, Seamus Winters, bass, and Nick Montaquila, percussion) have a next level musical synergy that feels positively otherworldly.
No stranger to the Boston music scene, Big Rav has been filling local venues andporchfests for the past four years with their unique blend of in-your-face, pop punkinspired vocals, overdriven and melodic guitar riffs and solos, heavy, modal basslines, vintage synths, and foundational, never obvious grooves (think Paramore meets Rush).
Self-deprecating title aside, the band is incredibly proud of this labor of love which came to be over a series of intermittent recording sessions with Sean McLaughlin of 37’ Productions coordinated between the individual members’ “real jobs” (a product manager, a developer, an engineer, and an accountant walk into a bar…) and the obligations that come with adulthood. In a sense, that is the true theme of the album -grappling with the phenomenon of growing up, and the infinite possibilities of lifebecoming casualty to responsibilities, relationship issues, and struggles with mentalhealth. Throw in a wall of layered guitars, thick bass, bombastic drumming, and raw, expressive vocals, and you arrive at the essence of the appropriately labeled “Big Rav” sound.
Every song, on “MESS I’VE MADE”, had us tapping and singing along almost instantly . We found ourselves entranced with “Alien” with its bluesy vibe , showing off the band’s versatility.
Our favorite track on the album, without question is the amazing title track, “MESS I’VE MADE” The combination of the ultra cool melodic groove and the flawless vocals, make “MESS I’VE MADE” , an instant classic.
You owe it to your music loving heart to check out the stunningly brilliant debut album, “MESS I’VE MADE” from Big Rav
We recently had the absolutely sensational opportunity to check out the new EP, “Five By Five From Four”, via Rum Bar Records, from Massachusetts garage-pop soul shakers, The Gypsy Moths. (Spoiler Alert: This EP Will Make Fall Hopelessly In Love With The Gypsy Moths)
You can listen to “Five By Five From Four “ on Spotify Here, Apple Music Here
Right from the first note on “And You Know I Do”, on – “Five By Five From Four” we were instantly smitten with the one of a kind sound from The Gypsy Moths
The five-track record, which arrives today (July 25th) is a proper primer for the quintet’s ambitious double-album set for release in October.
The EP is perfectly timed , as The Gypsy Moths unveil the record just ahead of appearing at Rum Bar labelmates The Dogmatics’ album release party blowout on Saturday, July 26 at the French-American Victory Club in Waltham, alongside Band 19, Last Stand, Stop Calling Me Frank, and several others.
The title of Five By Five From Four is also a nod to the band – a group of longtime friends, collaborators, and conspirators consisting of Steve O’Brien (vocals); Chris Conway (guitar, vocals, keyboards, percussion); Phil Thompson (bass); Matt Miceli (drums and percussion); and Dave Buckley (keyboards) – and the forthcoming double-LP: Five songs, by five Moths, from four sides of the album.
Courtesy Of The Band
There is an authentic “feel good” sound that is present throughout the EP, that we are positivity over the moon about.
“This is probably the most excited I’ve been for any of our releases,” says Conway, who produced the EP. “We’ve pushed the corners further on what the band is all about musically, both with our recordings and in the writing. All five of us have known each other and played music in one form or another with each other going back to the mid-’80s when we were in high school together, so this set of recordings is the first representation of that bond of music, friendship, and creativity that has been coming together for over 40 years now.”
Five By Five From Four, was recorded with Ed Riemer at Edsbarn in Canton, Massachusetts, and mastered by Dave Westner
The record both blooms in several creative directions while oddly continuing in a GypsyMoths throughline: “Before The Lights Went Out” tugs at jangle-pop heartstrings with an R&B-rock undercurrent; “Cover For Me” is a swagger strut of a tune that wouldn’t be out of place on a long-lost ‘60s best-of comp; and “Fold Up The Air” boasts a piano and guitar riff lead before vividly blossoming into glam and psych daydream territories.
The stellar “Five By Five From Four “ , from The Gypsy Moths, is a can’t miss.
We recently had the distinct honor and privilege to check out the new EP, “New, Better Things, from Hudson, New Hampshire, alt-rock trio, Robotic Hawks.
You can listen to “New, Better Things “ on Spotify Here, Apple Music Here
The greatest feeling in the world as a music blogger, is when you listen to a new record, and at end throw off the headphones, and shout , “That was freaking amazing!” , this is without question , how we feel about “New, Better Things , from Robotic Hawks

Robotic Hawks, have unleash a new full-throttle, four-track EP titled New, Better Things , today , (Thursday, July 24,) ahead of a live appearance and performance later that tonight ( July 24th) on WaveRadio just over the state line in Lowell, their “drunk” swell of creativity arrived last spring.
The band had just finished participating in the 2024 Rock and Roll Rumble, and fresh off the release of their All Business EP – whose lead single, “High Maintenance,” was spun as one of The Coolest Songs in the World by Little Steven’s Underground Garage on SiriusXM – banged out a series of successful live gigs around southern New England. Momentum was on their side, and creativity was flowing.
“We stared at the blank page and kept throwing stuff around until we found our spark,” says vocalist and bassistTyler Pollard. “We always write together in the same room. If one of us likes something, we stop to explore and develop. These three songs all popped out pretty quickly – but the refinement took several months.”
The “refinement” Pollard references was another example of Robotic Hawks — Pollard joined, as usual, by Shawn Doherty on guitar and Brian Sturk on drums – stepping out of their comfort zone. The band recorded New, Better Things with Benny Grotto at Mad Oak Studios in Allston, Massachusetts, a departure from the practice space self-recordings of prior work, which was then co-produced and mixed by longtime ally and associate Andrew King. The Hawks then took it to be mixed by Paul Q. Kolderie, the iconic producer, engineer, and mixer known for his work with Pixies, Radiohead, Hole, Dinosaur Jr., Juliana Hatfield, Morphine, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, and countless others.
“New, Better Things “ from Robotic Hawks, sounds like a perfectly tuned 1969 MGB roadster, but in record form. We were completely blown away.
In our honest opinion, opening track, “Andale’”, may be Robotic Hawks, at their very best . The sound , the vibe …. Letter perfect.
The record artfully , showcases the band’s pub rock energy, garage-pop smarts, and power-pop urgency over three new original tracks, led by first single “Heartbeat,” a bass-driven number that shines like glass and cuts with the same intensity, and a cover of CrowdedHouse’s 1980s classic “Something So Strong.” New Better, Things is teeming with anthemic choruses and sing-along verses, and continues to showcase a band growing more confident in its sonic swagger.
“This EP has all of the standard Robotic Hawks hallmarks, but with more attention to vibe and groove,”Pollard says. “Our mission statement has always been ‘As long as it’s rock and roll, it’s us.’ We always just try to write interesting songs, but this feels more measured and well-paced to reveal the personality of each song. These songs just feel looser, but manage to come across as surefooted.”
Through all the spectacular melodies and perfectly places lyrics throughout “New, Better Things”, what stood out most to our music loving ears, is how “riff-tastic” , “New, Better Things “ is . Every song is chock full of show stopping tasteful guitar goodness that we simply could not get enough of.
Go find your favorite music listening spot, and get lost in the musical goodness of “New, Better Things” from Robotic Hawks.

“This second Dance Party groove is from Sam Cooke—who was more than a beautiful face and voice. Brother Cooke used his massive popularity to sway people’s conscience in the struggle for civil rights. He understood the necessity of raising your voice and spirit. Sam Cooke knew why we should dance. Sometimes dancing is a righteous act of joyful defiance.”
Celebrated recording artist and NAACP Image Award-winning author Shawn Amos, best known as joyful bluesman The Reverend Shawn Amos, is an astute storyteller of multiple mediums. Shawn invests his unique creative vision and business savvy in both his own work and the endeavors of countless collaborators. Following a stint at NYU film school, Shawn wrote scripts for A & M films by day, recording and performing original music focusing on race and identity by night.
The Reverend Shawn Amos Dance Party!—an album of originals and 1960s dance classics—is forthcoming.
The Reverend ShawnAmos, artfully gives new life to the classic , “Twisting The Night Away” by honoring the great Sam Cooke , while also adding his own personal touch.

“Gary Busey”, from Arts Fishing Club, is an addictive, catchy well written gem that won’t be forgotten anytime soon.
Arts Fishing Club are not just a band; they are storytellers, explorers of the human condition, and purveyors of living life boldly. An ethos demonstrated by frontman Christopher Kessenich’s first 4.5 month tour in which he walked 1600 miles along the east coast from Maine to Atlanta to Nashville, played 60 shows, and slept in strangers’ living room floors.
The boldness that compelled such an adventure is felt in Arts Fishing Club electrifying live shows where the band weaves the raw energy of rock and the introspective lyrical honesty of folk to create a sound that is timeless and refreshingly original.

We don’t know what we did to be so lucky but, we consider ourselves absolutely blessed to be able to check out the new album, “Greetings from The Far Out”, from rising Boston pop-funk collective, The Far Out. You can listen to “Greetings from The Far Out” on Spotify Here, Apple Music Here
If you have yet to experience the electrifying next level pop funk from The Far Out , you are clearly only vibing at 50 percent. The epic new album, “Greetings from The Far Out “ is the perfect way to get your vibe to 100 percent.
We triple dog dare you to find a weak link on “Greetings from The Far Out “ … trust us you won’t … not even close . Every single song is more drop dead perfect than last . Eight gems that you can let play on repeat for infinity.
Led by a quartet of charismatic singles, including February’s “Funkadelic Gas” and May’s “Laurel,” the eight-track record from the Boston funk-pop collective welcomes the listener into its blossoming community, where positive vibes and blissful motivation – and an initiation to escape the day’s doom and gloom – are soundtracked by the sextet’s infectious sonic cocktail.
“Hard times make for great music,” says saxophonist and guitaristColin Senechal. “You gotta put your frustration and pent-up energy somewhere. If it can be upbeat to help people find some hope, even better!
With this debut album, a spectrum of styles and sounds that blends together funk, pop, indie, R&B, soul, Yacht Rock, ‘70s AM gold, Motown, and whatever else filtered through The Far Out’s unique sense of forward-motion retro-cool, the “New Act of the Year” recipient at the 2024New England Music Awards is ready to take things to the next level.
If you have been grooving to the singles , ( “Funkadelic Gas”, “Laurel”, “Packed To Go” and “See Red( You’re Dead” ) those are just the tip of the very funky iceberg.
Some of the other tunes that got us grooving, “Need A Win”, which is the absolute perfect song to kick off such a stellar album. “Lazy Lover” and “Putt Strut” If we were to pick our favorite on the record ( which is almost impossible to do ) we would without question choose, “Long Weekend “ ( the bass line is more decadent than any piece of chocolate we have ever had) “Long Weekend “ is straight up spectacular.
While the sound is varied and genre-hops from one beat to the next, a rare throughline across Greetings from The Far Out extends both in plain sight and lurking just below the aural surface. The record’s title and postcard artwork – as well as the stamp-themed art for the four singles, all designed by Olivia Lowe with design assistance from her brother Ezra Lowe – are a throwback to Bruce Springsteen’s 1973 debut Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J. And Lowe admits there are some overarching lyrical elements at play across the eight tracks, though it takes a dedicated listen to delve deep beyond the upbeat music.

In the late 1970s and early ’80s, a new wave of surf instrumental revival bands — including Jon & The Nightriders, The Surf Raiders, The Malibooz, Los Straightjackets and others — reignited interest in the genre, setting the stage for events like this. The event brought together original players from the 1960s and the 1980s revival scene, including legendary names such as The Chantays, The Surfaris, Davie Allan & The Arrows, and special guests like Bob Dalley of The Surf Raiders and Bob Demmon of The Astronauts. Supporting the performers was a stellar backline featuring Don Murray (The Crossfires, The Turtles), Pete Curry (The Halibuts, Los Straitjackets), and John Blair (Jon & The Nightriders), who also co-produced the release alongside renowned engineer Mark Linett (The Beach Boys, Los Lobos, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Los Straitjackets).

We recently had the amazing opportunity to check out rising Nashville soul singer, Jonathan Plevyak, and his scorching new single, “Disco Dolly” You can listen to “Disco Dolly” on Spotify Here, Apple Music Here
Jonathan Plevyak, has a one of a kind vintage sound , that we are absolutely positively over the moon about . Right from the first note on “Disco Dolly”, we had literal goosebumps. Jonathan Plevyak, sings like his soul is on fire . “Disco Dolly “ is a well crafted and written song that makes us love music even more.
Jonathan was inspired by artists like Elvis, Johnny Cash, Sam Cooke and Billie Holiday to develop his own retro style, which he ran with. Jonathan’s successful debut EP, “Made In The Shade,” was released last year and sounds just like a vinyl record pulled off the shelf in the ‘50s.
Jonathan will be offering The Jukebox Jam 2 on July 12th at The Basement East in Nashville , tickets and info Here
Silk perfect vocals with melodies that are straight fire . Jonathan Plevyak is an artist with a song , “Disco Dolly” that simply can’t be ignored.
We recently had the opportunity to check out new live album, The Bear Is The Mountain – Live 1979-1985’, from, songwriter, painter, music producer,- Robert Ellis Orrall. You can listen to The Bear Is The Mountain – Live 1979-1985, Here
The new live album, from Robert Ellis Orrall, is a trip ( literally) as t transports listeners back to the acclaimed singer-songwriter’s early-’80s glory days around Boston, showcasing his trusted band of musicians who could conquer any stage at any time, from the seedy dive bars on the outskirts of town to the glossy main stages of posh downtown theaters. But it also brings us forward, planting its flag in the modern day, delivering these four friends and collaborators back to the stage as one cohesive unit, and offering a glimpse – and a sound – of just what is to come.
The Bear Is The Mountain showcases a band at its sweaty, bluesy, breakneck-pace peak – Orrall on lead vocals and keyboards;Kook Lawry on guitar and vocals; Don Walden on bass and vocals; and David Stefanelli on drums and vocals. The record also features Brian Maes (touring keyboards in 1983); Eddie Grenga (tour keyboards in 1984); and a pair of original Robert Ellis Orrall band members in guitaristDouglas Millett and drummerSus.
Reclaiming the magic they first felt decades ago, Orrall, Lawry, Walden, and Stefanelli are all back together again after a 35-year break, coming together during the pandemic, not only to help Orrall unearth and polish up these lost recordings, but also create an exciting new chapter. It started with 2022 collaborative record 467 Surf & Gun Cluband last year’s studio album The War Between Us (recorded in 1986 at Downtown Recorders), continues with the summer live shows, and eventually leads to a new album on the way, Wrong Thing, showcasing the quartet’s first new all-original music in nearly four decades, due out in the fall.
The Bear Is The Mountain pulls from Orrall’s three studio albums for RCA Records: 1981’sFixation, 1983’s Special Pain (his Top 40 debut with Carlene Carter, “I Couldn’t Say No,” is excitedly included here), and 1984’s Contain Yourself, all originally recorded in Wales with producer Roger Bechirian (Elvis Costello, Squeeze). It’s a snapshot in time, one before Orrall relocated to Nashville to become a prolific songwriter, producer, and in-demand collaborator, with five Number 1 songs to his credit across an eclectic and expansive 350-track catalog.
The album kicks off with a manic rendition of “Inspired,” originally recorded in 1979 with former members Millet on rhythm guitar and Sus on drums. The energy from the recording explodes out of the speakers, and sets a brazen tone for the 15 tracks that follow, all offering an odd cohesion for songs that at some points have six long years wedged in between recordings. But it paints a vivid picture of Orrall’s band, and comes across like one compact live concert where the band was firing on all cylinders.
It was finding this recording on a cassette tape that made me search for more,” Orrall says about “Inspired,” perhaps enjoying what the title suggests for this new era as much as the recordings’ quality itself. “I dug deep and uncovered about 30 cassettes, digitized them, and then found the 16 best sounding/slash/best performances. When we got back together to rehearse, we actually pulled up some of those live tapes to remind us of the changes you make when you’ve been playing constantly for years. More reminders than inspiration, because we’re beyond ‘Inspired’ to be playing all these songs again.”
And play them they will. After the Marblehead gig over Fourth of July weekend, Orrall and his band canvass New England for the summer circuit, just like old times (with admittedly a bit more space between gigs), with additional shows July 17 as part of the Wildcat Concert Series in Jackson, New Hampshire; August 22 at The Cut in Gloucester; and September 13 at Two To Lou Music Festival in Sandown, New Hampshire.
The Bear Is The Mountain – Live 1979-1985, from Robert Ellis Orrall , is a beautiful melodic example of how the past can get us excited and energized for the future.
Nate Perry & Ragged Company deliver an absolutely blazing new single, “Tonight” and we can’t stop singing and dancing along. You can listen to “Tonight” Here .
It has been an absolute whirlwind for Nate Perry & Ragged Company, as of late .Boston Calling, over Memorial Day weekend, where they showcased several songs from a pair of EPs: last spring’s debut The Otherside of Everything, and the forthcoming Till The Well Runs Dry. They were also featured on WCVB’s Chronicle and CBS Boston / WBZ-TV’s Road To Boston Calling special.
Now they offer up the electrifying new single, “Tonight” Not only does “Tonight” lead off Nate Perry & Ragged Company’s new EP, set for release this summer, but it provides a slightly more aggressive feel than euphoric May single “Count on You”
Continuing to showcase the Boston collective’s blossoming spectrum of country- and roots-tinged alternative rock, “Tonight” cranks up the bluesy intensity and revs the band’s creative engine, with enough energy to appeal to the rock and roll scene and just enough twang to keep the Americana crowd honest.
“It was a fun song to write and it’s a fun song to play,” says vocalist, guitarist, and band leader Perry. “The creativity that went into the whole song really illustrates how much we’ve been cooking lately. This song is a reminder that this band can blow the roof of the building. It pulls us away from the traditional sound of Americana and towards a harder alt-rock sound while providing the raw rock and roll emotion that we’ve always delivered.”
“Tonight” is precisely the perfect musical jolt to send your summer into high gear. The next level musicianship from Nate Perry& Ragged Company , rises to the occasion to provide an absolute gem that will continue to shine long after the music fades .
“Tonight” has also emerged as a live favorite, just as the young band embraces a series of summer gigs. The first arrives a day after the release of “Tonight,” at the 2025 New England Americana Festival on June 28 at Bellforge Arts Center in Medfield, an all-day, outside, and free 14-band collection of New England’s rising talent.
From there, the itinerary takes Nate Perry and the boys all around Massachusetts for the summer, performing live at the Veterans Rock Music Festival in Hyannis on July 19; the Bradford Common Music Series in Haverhill on July 31; Lobsterfest in Beverly on August 6; Levitate Backyard in Marshfield on August 23; and The Cut in Gloucester on September 20
Perry and the band – rounded out by Sam DeMello on drums; Connor Milligan on bass and backing vocals;Ollie Nash on keys and backing vocals; and Mike Chandler on lead guitar – get fired up every time “Tonight” comes up on the setlist.
“It’s a blast,” he admits. “As soon as the count for the intro starts, we all get a shot of adrenaline and for the next few minutes the band runs wild. It comes out of the gate at full speed. It’s maybe our highest-energy song and the emotions behind it are unique to the rest of our work.”
Whether live or on the recording, “Tonight,” which was produced by Brian Charles at RareSignals in Cambridge, Massachusetts, tends to catch the listener by surprise and manages to hold interest through its nearly-four-minute duration, as an impassioned Perry unleashes his emotions as they roar out of the speakers.
Nate Perry & Ragged Company, are a musical tour de force that can’t be ignored. “Tonight” is an absolute gem.
We recently had the stellar opportunity, to check out the new single, “‘53 Bel Air”, from LA-based songwriter andinstrumentalist Cooper Kenward. You can listen to , “‘53 Bel Air”, Here You can check out the video below
Bel Air,” is the second release from his forthcoming album, haha, now I’m sad, set for release onAugust 29 via Soggy Anvil Records. Anchored by unruly horns and chaotic percussion, “Bel Air” careens through the absurdity of a bank robbery with a wink and a wild grin. It’s a bluesy, cinematic opener to an album that explores the strangeness and hilarity of being human in a crumbling world.
“’53 Bel Air’ is a fun song that came together when I started playing it with the band in the studio. Each take got more and more wild until we all were committing musical crimes,” says Kenward. “The lyrics came from Raymond Chandler and John Fante stuff. I’ve never robbed a bank, but I’ve still got time.”
Cooper Kenward, is squarely in the driver’s seat with the melodically and sonically thrilling , “’53 Bel Air’. This without question a song you can’t miss.
Written the night before tracking began, “Bel Air” sets the tone for the entire record, part character study, part existential spiral. “Money buys a lot of things / But stealing it brings me joy,” Kenward croons with both menace and empathy, cracking open the criminal’s psyche like a car window with a crowbar. It’s storytelling at its most unhinged and tender, reflective of the album’s broader ethos: finding the silliness in sorrow and the sacred in chaos.
We can’t wait for “haha, now I’m sad” But in the meantime we are going to vibe out to the sensational “’53 Bel Air’”
We recently had the amazing opportunity to check out the new single, “Exits”, from Los Angeles-based heavy rock outfit Gale Forces.
You can listen to “Exits” Here You can also check out the b/w “Losing To Win”Here
“Exits”, a track that dives deeper into the band’s evolving sound—melding explosive riffs with eerie spaciousness, lower guitar tunings, and rhythmic angularity. Produced by guitarist Gabe Van Benschoten(Mossbreaker) and featuring drummer Isaac Carpenter (Guns N’ Roses, Awolnation), “Exits” is a gritty, immersive exploration of isolation, inertia, and inner escape.
The track’s concept loosely follows two mechanics drifting through space aboard a freighter, lost in their routine transmissions home—apathic, yet surrounded by the vast unknown. The single’s cover art—a fogged-up car interior—echoes the theme of escapism, suggesting that even the most mundane portals can lead to untapped corners of imagination.
Exits” marks the latest chapter in Gale Forces’ progression from founder Jade Devitt’s solo project into a fully realized band. Formed in 2014, Gale Forces grew from Devitt’s early solo recordings (Gale ForcesEP, 2014; Strawberry Peak, 2017) into a collaborative effort with the 2023 release of Highlights of Existence. Alongside Van Benschoten, Carpenter, and newest member Peter Forslund on bass, the band continues to channel the raw spirit of 90s Seattle underground with a modern edge that leans into the heaviest elements of their collective pasts.
We are absolutely enthralled with the blues/rock flavored groove that gives “Exits”, a whole new dimension. We were moving along almost instantly.
Gale Forces will celebrate the release of “Exits” with a special matinee performance on Saturday, June 14 at 5 PM at The Redwood Barin downtown Los Angeles. They’ll be joined by Museum of Light and If It Kills You for an early evening of immersive, high-decibel rock.
We recently had the otherworldly experience to check out the new single, “RadioWam Bam Boom” , from The Peppermint Kicks . You can listen to “Radio Wam Bam Boom “ Here . It’s a vibe and a sound that you simply can’t ignore.

The Peppermint Kicks are now sending out their own signal with “Radio Wam Bam Boom,” a dynamite new single featuring The Underground Garage’sPalmyra Delran as the voice of radio, set for release today, (Friday, June 13 ) on Rum Bar Records.

We are beyond excited for “Radio Wam Bam Boom” from The Peppermint Kicks. It’s the first new music from the collaborative project of Sal Baglio (The Amplifier Heads, The Stompers) and Dan Kopko (The Shang Hi Los, Watts) since their self-titled 2021 debut album and a one-off Christmas single that arrived later that year. And it sets a restless tone for the Kicks’ sophomore album, Pop Rocks In My Chewing Gum, ready to be unleashed this summer.
With the adrenalized “Radio Wam Bam Boom” and its grandiose momentum, retro-rock swagger, and effortless cool, The Peppermint Kicks are callin’ America, callin’ radio London Town, and callin’ all cars — with a fiery request to turn up the radio. The upbeat and muscular garage rock track emerges from the speakers with a timeless punch, and is sure to shake up the scene this summer.
“‘Radio Wam Bam Boom’ is a big loud bite,” says Baglio. “It’s an eardrum of rock candy about radio past and present, transistor, satellite, vinyl records revolving, guitar licks dissolving, disc jockeys spinnin’ & rock n roll dreamin’.
And there was no better person to extend an invite to than Delran, who as an essential voice of Little Steven’s Underground Garage on SiriusXM has helped countless bands, from Boston and beyond, reach global audiences. Her show, Palmyra’s Trash-Pop Shindig, as well as Bill Kelly’s Blackhole Bandstand, The Rodney Bingenheimer Show, The Mighty Manfred, Michael Des Barres and all the inspired 24/7 programming on the station, has been helping carry the torch for rock and roll radio.
The electrifying energy on “RadioWam Bam Boom” from The Peppermint Kicks, is enough to send a signal into the stratosphere and beyond.
Our music loving heart are beyond full thanks to the rock and roll magic from The Peppermint Kicks
So run don’t walk , to your favorite music listening device and crank – “Radio Wam Bam Boom” , from The Peppermint Kicks .
Tomás Doncker is pleased to reveal that his upcoming EP ‘Hard Is Hard’ is set for release July 4th 2025
We recently had the amazing opportunity to check out the stunningly perfect and soulful cover of “Ace Of Spades” from NYC-based alternative-R&B producer, singer, songwriter and indie label CEO Tomás Doncker. You can listen to “Ace Of Spades” on Spotify Here , Apple Music Here
Tomás Doncker has long been a prime mover on the New York music, arts and culture scenes. From the early 1980s, as a member of groundbreaking No Wave and Punk Funk bands The Contortions and Defunkt, international touring, recording and songwriting collaborations with luminaries such as Bootsy Collins, Meshell Ndegeocello, Ivan Neville, The Specials and the legendary Ms. Patti Smith, to helming his own band, The True Groove All-Stars, Tomás has established himself as a cross-genre innovator without peer.
Discussing his decision to cover the single he explains, “Motörhead… Lemmy…Ace of Spades. Who doesn’t love this song? I have since I first heard it many lifetimes ago. A few years back, I was in a car and it came on the radio – and it spoke to me in a very different way than it ever had before. This was the moment when the idea of covering it popped into my head. When I read the lyrics, it became clear to me what it was that was tugging at me…The Blues. I realised that Motörhead had changed the spirit of Son House, Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters, and the Delta Blues storytelling tradition and sped it up to create one of the quintessential rock and roll anthems of all time. It became obvious that I had to sing this song. I saw myself in it.”
We blissfully basked in the absolute soulful perfection of the phenomenal version of “Ace Of Spades”, from Tomás Doncker
The upcoming EP ‘Hard Is Hard’was produced with James Dellatacoma (Bill Laswell, Herbie Hancock) and mastered by Michael Fossenkemper (Paul Weller, LL Cool J, Miles Davis) and includes guest instrumentation from Frank Benbini (UB40, Fun Lovin’ Criminals), Adriano Rossetti-Bonell (UB40) and The Specials Horns. With elements of soul, blues, funk, rock and some jazz thrown in for good measure, ‘Hard Is Hard’ is a five-track masterclass in Doncker’s innate knack for genre fluidity. The EP lyrically explores themes of racial inequality, social injustice and keeping a positive mental attitude through hard times.
Doncker was recently invited to support Fun Lovin’ Criminals on their extensive tour throughout the UK and Europe alongside his band, The True Groove All-Stars, which include members of The Specials Horns.
On the tour, he says, “I’m so honoured, and excited to have been invited to be a part of the upcoming Fun Lovin’ Criminals fall UK/EU tour. They’ve really made me feel welcome as a member of the international / UK music community, and I am forever grateful for this opportunity. It’s gonna be a lot of fun for sure!“

We had the absolutely amazing opportunity, to check out the new single, “Laurel”, from Boston , based high-energy funk and soul-pop group , The Far Out. You can listento “Laurel” Here
The Far Out, are one of those bands, that make us want scream “We Love Music! “ “Laurel” is a funky, soulful track that we fall deeper and deeper in love with every time we hear it.
The Far Out’s vibrant new retro-soul single “Laurel,” is the latest slice of high-energy funk-pop from the rising Boston sextet that hits the streams today, (Friday, May 30) . “Laurel” is the follow-up to February’s supercharged single “Funkadelic Gas,” and both infectious tracks will be featured on the “New Act of the Year” recipient at the 2024 New England Music Awards’ forthcoming debut album, set for release this summer.
“Laurel,” with its Yacht Rock cool, charismatic swagger, and alluring sax n’ brass sass, also throws it back to the golden era of ‘70s songwriting with clever lyrical wordplay and charming innuendo, juxtaposing the music’s optimistic and upbeat nature with a heartbreak situation just bubbling under the surface.
‘Laurel’ is deceptively not a love song,” says lead vocalistOlivia Lowe. “It’s about continuing to see someone romantically despite knowing that it’s going nowhere, because they will never commit to being fully or exclusively with you. The chorus ‘rest on my Laurel’ is a play on words, where it’s just easier to stay with this person rather than make the effort to leave them.”
Lowe paints an unfulfilled picture in the lyrics that is deliberately opposed to the overall vibe of the song, which feels like the perfect summer bop to add to all our beach-going and care-free day playlists. But that’s also the point – something that feels sunny and warm on the surface may not be what it seems after a deeper dive into what’s really going on.
“I hope that when people hear it, they dance,” Lowe adds. “But I hope that when they listen more closely to the lyrics, they understand that it’s okay to get out once something stops being fun or isn’t right for them anymore. I was able to easily write this happy-sounding, confident song because I’m firmly on the other side of the exact situation it describes.”
And for Lowe, band life in The Far Out is a happy relationship as well – and that comes out in the effortless cool and creative chemistry displayed by the collective of close friends and multi-instrumentalists, rounded out on “Laurel” by core members Ellie Dolan (trumpet, backing vocals); Ryan Fremont-Smith (bass guitar, backing vocals); Drew Phillips (drums); Colin Senechal (tenor saxophone); and Henry Zagarella (keys, organ, backing vocals).
“Laurel” is a great balance of the sounds of the past mixed with a vibrant energy that points to the future.
Penned by Lowe, Zagarella, and Phillips, “Laurel” flexes what The Far Out does best – it cranks up the energy and creates its own mood through sheer infectiousness and positive vibes. “Laurel” was recorded with Fremont-Smith as engineer at FS Studios, with drums and mixing engineered by Sean McLaughlin at 37′ Productions. The track was mastered by Jeff Lipton at Peerless Mastering with assistant mastering by engineer Costanza Tini.
“Laurel “ , from The Far Out, is a track that your ears must hear.
We are absolutely taken with Belfast based quartet Stratford Rise. They have a one of a kind sound that is both powerful and beautiful. Today they offer up their debut eponymous EP. (Which if you are scoring at home, is absolutely brilliant)
You can listen to the debut EP, on Spotify Here, Apple Music, 🎶 Here
We first got to know the mighty Stratford Rise, by their phenomenal single, “Gunshow”, but as we listened to the new EP, we quickly learned that it was only the tip of the iceberg.
The melodic madness of “Prone” , absolutely blew our minds . “Prone” is carefully chaotic and spectacularly stunning. Stratford Rise , is a band who is ready to reach amazing heights and we can’t wait to watch .
“Snowsports” has a very cinematic feel to it with a memorable melody and flawless vocals.
The closing track, “Machine To Water” , showed of the amazing versatility of Stratford Rise.
Their explosive live shows have made them one of the most talked about bands in the Irish live circuit. In a short period of time, they have built an impressive repertoire of performances. From supporting noise rock legends, The Jesus Lizard in Belfast’s Limelight, and a sold out show in Dublin’s The Button Factory, proving their ability to hold their own alongside the greats. At Whelans Ones to Watch Festival the band stole the show, with audience members surfing across the room. In 2024 they also embarked on their own five- date Irish tour. Their stage presence is erratic, theatrical, and visceral, with each members becoming enveloped by the music, offering a visually exciting performance for audiences. Other notable highlights: Just Mustard support slot at Limerick’s legendary Féile Na Gréine, support slots for Crows and Junk Drawer support, and write ups in Hot Press and The Thin Air magazines.
2025 is set to be a big year for Stratford Rise with the release of this debut eponymous EP. The EP delivers a blistering collection of tracks that encapsulate the band’s intensity, a tasting platter of their live staples thus far. It is a collection of songs that explore extremes in music, interlocking rhythms, and combining harsh, noisy ideas with consonant ones. Lyrically, it’s about small fleeting glimpses into characters at crossroads and crisis.
Stratford Rise, is a band that you owe it to your music loving heart to check out , you won’t regret it.
We recently had the privilege to check out the tremendous new single, “The Drip” from Dublin psych-pop powerhouse THUMPER. You can listen to “The Drip” on Spotify Here and on Apple Music Here
THUMPER, comes in red hot with their new electrifying riff fueled new single, “The Drip” and we loved every freaking second of it .
The track is the first of a series of releases across 2025 leading to the release of their sophomore album which follows debut Choice Music Prize nominated Delusions of Grandeur which was an epic introduction to the band’s psych-drenched rumble which juxtaposes walls of distortion with saccharine melody and unabashed hooks.
The Drip is a song about tour burnout and relationship strain. The song was written almost a line at a time, small lyrics jotted down at different moments on tour, in different cities, different head spaces. The title refers to that slow accumulation, drip torture was on my mind, but also an IV drip – something that keeps you alive, hooked to your veins. In this case my deep love for making music, and the people I make it with.
The song has no chorus – no release. But it’s joyous and builds with momentum with each passing section, even as the lyrics seem to become more abstract. This conflict between love for the thing, and that thing destroying you – that’s The Drip. “Poke to find a vein, flick the bag”
The song was recorded with producer Rian Trench in rural Donegal, in a cottage that we converted into a studio. We built a control room in the sitting room, and ran cables into the various bedrooms for guitar amps, even using Alan’s van to house the bass amp outside (as the volume inside the house was making the fillings in our teeth come loose). The double drums were then recorded in Attica Studio in Donegal owned by Tommy McLaughlin ( Soak, Villagers, Ailbhe Reddy). There was no signal, no wifi, no distractions – just friends making music together. We were listening to a lot of DIIV and Wednesday at the time, and we were lucky enough to rope in Alex Ferrar (engineer/producer of Wednesday,MJ Lendermann, Angel Olsen, etc) on mixing duties.’
We can’t believe we are just discovering, THUMPER, and their otherworldly sound (we apologize) Go immediately listen to “The Drip”, You will be absolutely amazed.
We recently had the distinct honor to check out YEARB4 , a new hard rock band from Nashville, Tennessee, that gives you everything you love from 80s hard rock and 90s grunge but with a new, fresh sound. YEARB4 delivers new single, “Rebel Without A Cause” , that is exactly the dose of high energy rock that you need …. You just don’t know it yet.
You can listen to “Rebel Without A Cause “ on Spotify Here, Apple Music, Here
Lucas Blair (lead vocals), Mike Milaitis (lead guitar), and “Pretty Boy” Floyd Fulton (drums), met in Nashville playing in other bands but quickly found chemistry amongst themselves. Upon forming the band, they played Edgeout Record’s “Rockvasion” 2022 showcase where they caught the attention of Universal Music Group’s Patrick Kraus. After recording a collection of EP’s and singles at East Iris Studios in Nashville, the boys found electrifying bassist Abby Chuck, finalizing the band’s stacked lineup. Now with their final lineup, YEARB4 delivers a high-energy, rock-driven sound that’s as timeless as it is electrifying. Their live shows consistently leave the audience in awe with the band’s high-energy stage presence, impeccable musicianship, and face-melting sound. YEARB4 is thrilled to announce that we have officially signed a distribution deal with Virgin and East Iris Records. “This partnership is a dream come true for us and we are beyond thankful for the opportunity to grow alongside such an amazing team. We cannot wait to share all of the music we have been working on the last few months with the legendary Obie O’brien, known for his work with Bon Jovi, and the incredible staff at East Iris Studios including Pat Kraus, Kevin Reeves, Trent Woodman, and Grant Morgan. Stay tuned- this is just the beginning!”
There is so much to love about, YEARB4, and their high adrenaline sound that combines killer riffs/ melodies and flawless rock solid vocals that will leave you absolutely speechless.
So run don’t walk to your favorite music listening device and get lost in the rock and roll goodness of , “Rebel Without A Cause” from YEARB4
We recently had the amazing opportunity to check out the new single, “I’m Never Flying With Ryanair Again” , from SCUSTIN You can listen to the new single, Here
Dublin post-funk quartet SCUSTIN are delighted to reveal their new single ‘I’m Never Flying With Ryanair Again’, being released today, May 21st .
We absolutely love the vibrant style and sound of “I’m Never Flying With RyanairAgain” it is a catchy groove that is SCUSTIN, at their very best.
Following the social media buzz around their tongue-in-cheek rage-baiting release ‘The Ick (Don’t Put Blackcurrant In That Pint of Guinness)’, the band continue to win high-profile fans across the arts, includingFontaines DC’s GrianChatten, Gurriers’ Dan Hoff,Meditations For the Anxious Mind Podcast, UFC’s Meatball Molly, comedian Darren Conway, designer Hephee, and rapper Kojaque.
Already shaping up to turn just as many heads, new single ‘I’m Never Flying With Ryanair Again’ blends infectious pop-groove structures à la Blur and Wet Leg with a grunge-country guitar that wouldn’t feel out of place on aNirvana record. The result? An alternative Irish pop anthem that hits hard and hooks fast.
Commenting on the track, the band say: “Lyrically, the song is a satirical deep-dive into the absurdity of blame culture. Channelling the tongue-in-cheek swagger of The Streets, Viagra Boys, and Kneecap, the story introduces a maddeningly self-unaware character who wreaks havoc through his airport routine. It’s a wry observation of a world where it’s easier to deflect responsibility than take it on the chin.”
The track is the latest to be taken from their debut album Confessions Of A Pub Talkerwhich will be released on September 19th , 2025 and follows on from early singles ‘Charmer’ and ‘The Ick (Don’t Put Blackcurrant In That Pint Of Guinness)’
Recorded and produced by Richie Kennedy(The Murder Capital, RIDE, Interpol, Shame) at Black Mountain Studios, forthcoming debut album Confessions Of A Pub Talker is a concept record that tells the story of Larry, a barman in his mid-to-late 20s struggling to find his way amidst the social and economic uncertainties of modern Irish life.
More than just a band, Scustin blurs the lines between crowd and artist. When you step into a Scustin show, you don’t just watch the band—you become part of it. Scustin is a state of mind, a shared love for all things craic. To be “Scustin” is to belong to a group united by this love, where every show is a celebration of connection, culture, and pure, unfiltered fun
We are absolutely hooked on Scustin, and their brilliant new single, “I’m Never Flying With Ryanair Again “

We recently got the amazing opportunity, to check out the new video for “Stone”, from Boston hard rock band , Cruel Miracle, you can watch the epic video for “Stone” below
You can also listen to “Stone “ , which is on their album “Steadfast” on Spotify Here , Apple Music Here
On its own, “Stone” from Cruel Miracle, is an epic hard rock groove that is straight up phenomenal. Now we get a blazing video to go along with it…… It’s like we won the freaking lottery!!!
Finally getting the video treatment it deserves, the riff-fueled “Stone” is the lead track to Cruel Miracle’s recent album Steadfast, a piledriver of a record that first dropped last summer. The video for “Stone” was created by the band members themselves, featuring the four dudes rocking out in its rehearsal space as colorful and animated visuals bloom with each hook and spin like a hypnotic pinwheel.
The band shares : ‘Stone’ is a story about perseverance – staying strong while remaining true to yourself,” the band declares, speaking on the new release as a cohesive voice of one. “In typical Cruel Miracle fashion, one of us brought some riffs and then we all worked on the structure and arrangements. This was first created as a post-pandemic tune, so the feel was based on the struggles of the time and the battle against our personal demons.”
The DIY video for “Stone” was created by the band members themselves, featuring the four dudes rocking out in its rehearsal space as colorful and animated visuals bloom with each hook and spin like a hypnotic pinwheel. It’s the band’s visual follow-up to last year’s “Wicked Ways [1999]” video, which dropped, appropriately, on the Fourth of July.
But the latest dose of video fireworks from Cruel Miracle is more stripped-down in nature, allowing the song to expand and take hold while showcasing the band doing what it does best – rocking the eff out.
“We spent time looking at videos from the ‘60s all the way to the mid-’90s – where most of us cut our teeth,” they add. “There was no real theme or direction, we just wanted something kind of random and psychedelic. We also wanted to showcase ourselves playing in our own environment. It all goes back to the visuals and feel of that old-school rock scene – capturing that hard rock essence and delivering an accurate representation of what Cruel Miracle is today
Cruel Miracle, is exactly the high octane rock and roll that is needed in today’s musical landscape. Full throttle and full speed ahead . Music needs to be a loud and thunderous experience and Cruel Miracle, is just the right band to lead the charge .
We recently had the stellar opportunity, to check out the new single, “Bagel Bagel Bagel, from Bristol (UK) based rock four-piece SpinClass. The new single, is taken from their upcoming second EP ‘Dinner At Derek’s out later this year. You can listen to “Bagel Bagel Bagel” Here
Right from the first sonically perfect note on “BagelBagel Bagel, we were absolutely mesmerized by the rock and roll goodness of Spin Class .
Formed in 2023, Spin Class’ sound combines proggy riffs and hook-heavy melodies, with some grunge and desert rock thrown in for good measure.
With ‘Bagel Bagel Bagel’,the band wanted to capture the frenetic energy of their live show, opting to record the track live in its entirety with Josh Gallop (Krooked Tongue, Phoxjaw, Sergeant Thunderhoof) at Stage 2 Studios in Bath.
On the single’s lyrical inspirations, lyricist and vocalist Louis Slater says, “Do you ever feel like a bagel? A soft, round but delicious outside with a hole in the middle where all the bits should be? Now times that by three and you get Bagel Bagel Bagel. The majority of our lyrical inspirations are a retelling of our inner experiences and in this belter it’s paired with humour with lines like ‘ain’t the mix that makes the bread, hole in the bagel.’ This song is the perfect way to start the next chapter of Spin Class. It’s punchy and energetic with a layer of frustration, yet it’s a song that’s designed to light you up.”
On their decision to record live the band explain, “For this track we wanted to write an intense, in your face punk song and go in the live-recorded direction, bands like Soundgarden and Led Zeppelin and how they recorded tracks being a heavy influence for us. This approach has been something we’ve never done before but felt very natural. We’re a live band first at the end of the day, and capturing that raw energy in production was essential. The result bounces between overstimulated punk intensity with each violent transition amplifying the live feel we’ve wanted to capture at gigs and rehearsals.”
Sometimes, bands decide to hold back and deliver sound that is too polished, while there is nothing wrong with a high quality recording, you can fake the raw frantic energy of a rock and roll band . Hundreds of bands strive to bottle their live sound on a studio recording. Spin Class , not only successfully deliver an amazing studio track with magnificent live energy with “Bagel Bagel Bagel” …. They do it with absolute brilliance.
We recently had the splendid opportunity to check out Southern Rock band, Holy Roller and their amazing cover of Fleetwood Mac’s“The Chain” that is out now on all platforms. You can listen to “The Chain” on Spotify Here, Apple Music Here
Listening to Holy Roller, is nothing short of a religious experience. We got literal goosebumps listening to the divine cover of Fleetwood Mac’s , “The Chain”
“Holy Roller? More like holy sh**!” That’s the review lo a x laccording to Nashville’s multi-Grammy award winning songwriter, Jim Lauderdale. The Richmond, VA based group is quickly proving that they intend to be the new face of southern rock. Holy Roller has been dominating the east coast, selling out nearly every show over the last year, not to mention some outstanding performances that landed them as festival favorites at Bristol Rhythm & Roots and Red Wing. Their sophomore album, Good Religion is out now and boasts some seriously riff-heavy, yet deeply intimate songs that are best played L-O-U-D. Holy Roller is down home, and damn good at it.

We recently had the outstanding opportunity to check out the new single, “CACO KNIBB”, via Sleep Walk Sounds , from Rosendale, NY. based Ben Basile (pronounced “ba-sill-ee”) Ben, is best known for his work with Big D and the Kids Table. , “Cacao Knibb”the third track from his debut solo album,‘Benergy’, set to drop May 2nd via Sleep Walk Sounds
The vibrant and electrifying sounds of “CACO KNIBB” , from Ben Basile, are like nothing we have ever heard before …. Such sweet , sweet sounds .
Ben says, “”Cacao Knibb” has been in development for a long time and took years to find its final form which appears on the album. The title is a play on words with two of my favorite things: Ska music and Dark Chocolate. Cacao Nib being a piece of a dried cacao bean and Lloyd Knibb was the original drummer with The Skatalites who pretty much created the whole style! I always love when ska is blended with latin rhythms, so that was also a part of the inspiration for this piece. “Cacao Knibb” feature’s the album’s co-producer Jon Degen on saxophone, as well as a piano solo by my longtime friend Sean Morrison.”
‘Benergy’, the album’s title, originated from a lighthearted moment with one of Basile’s bass students. “When I play ska punk, like with Big D and The Kids Table, it’s all about playing on top, playing with momentum and energy. Pushing the music the entire time,”Basile explains. His student’s response? “Benergy?”—a phrase that stuck and ultimately became the album’s name.
We are totally enthralled with the musical stylings, of Ben Basile and we can’t wait to hear what’s next.

Smitt E. Smitty & The Fezztones, are know for first rate oddball fun and that is exactly what we got with the amazing video for “#1 Most Likely”
“We are going to have some FUN with this video,”Smitty concludes. “Since this is not a traditional ‘love song’ by definition, the music video should also not be traditional. We promise to make it very unusual. Turn it on its side. Without giving too much away, we will be doing an homage, of sorts, to a filmmaker we all know and love, but I don’t want to spoil it by saying too much.”
“I love all that oddball stuff, and I love good bad art,”Smitty says with a laugh. “#1 Most Likely” was recorded with Alec Rodriguez at New Alliance Audio in Somerville, MA, and the Fezztones are returning to the studio to prepare additional releases for 2025.

As soon as we heard the opening riff on “Dig Down” we were totally mesmerized. Dark Sun , has crafted an absolute gem .
The soaring vocals are perfectly placed between perfect and memorable melodies that ring in your soul, long after the music has ended . We have a feel that this Dark Sun is freaking phenomenal live and in person.
The level of musicianship with Dark Sun is absolutely off the charts . They are a well oiled rock band that appears unstoppable. We can’t wait to see what they do next
Upcoming Solo LP ‘Benergy’ Out May 2nd; East Coast Shows Announced
We recently had the delightful opportunity to check out the second single , “74 Leonard Street” from acclaimed bassist Ben Basile, best known for his work with Big D and the Kids Table, who is thrilled to share the new single, will be on his debut solo album “Benergy”, set to drop May 2ndvia Sleep Walk Sounds.
“74 Leonard Street” from Ben Basile, is one of those magical melodic melodies that you can’t help but fall completely in love with the minute you hear it
A heartfelt tribute to the legendary KnittingFactory venue in Manhattan, “74 Leonard Street” reflects on the golden era of ska shows that shaped Basile’s musical journey. “I wrote this as a tribute to the old Knitting Factory when it was still in Manhattan in the early 2000s,”says Basile. “It was at this venue that my love and appreciation for the genre grew even deeper. This was where I first saw many artists who would influence my career: The Skatalites, New York Ska-Jazz Ensemble, Pilfers, Westbound Train, and Victor Rice. Fast forward ten years, and I would later have the chance to perform with both New York Ska-Jazz Ensemble and the Pilfers!”
The single features standout performances from longtime musical collaborators Matt Garrison (Saxophone) and Vince Tampio (Trumpet), delivering a vibrant sound that perfectly encapsulates the spirit of the genre.
Benergy’, the album’s title, originated from a lighthearted moment with one of Basile’s bass students. “When I play ska punk, like with Big D and The Kids Table, it’s all about playing on top, playing with momentum and energy. Pushing the music the entire time,” Basile explains. His student’s response? “Benergy?”—a phrase that stuck and ultimately became the album’s name.
“74 Leonard “ from Ben Basile, is an absolute must listen.
We recently had the excellent opportunity to check out the new single, “Voice In My Head” from The Tear Downs frontman , and Needham native, Steve Geraci. You can listen to “Voice In My Head” on Spotify Here , Apple Music Here
Years ago, Boston music scene veteran Steve Geraci had a baseball coach who would often say “You don’t wanna compete against an opponent AND yourself during a game.” While at the time the sentiment was directed to his inner voice that was questioning his own ability – and in this case, his fastball – the message stuck with him through adulthood. Now, the core of that sentiment emerges through Geraci’s vibrant new single, “Voice In My Head,” hits the streams today, ( Friday, March 14. )
We are absolutely infatuated with new single, that is a stunning indie rock cruiser that blooms with an addictive melody that are couple with smart lyrics that ooze with brilliant rock sensibilities. The Tear Downs frontman and Needham native will be rolling out a series of solo material over the course of the year, the follow-up to his 2024 EP Coming From Your Blind Spot.
It’ll lead up to a new EP at some point in the foreseeable future, and possibly a debut solo album late this year or in 2026. But for now, “Voice In My Head” serves as a light-hearted cautionary tale that recalls the new wave glide of Talking Heads and indie-pop buoyancy of Vampire Weekend
‘Voice In My Head’ is about the driving inner voice inspiring us to reach new heights or daring us to fail,” Geraci admits. “It can help build you up, but also quick to knock us down or second guess; solving all your world issues when your head hits the pillow or when you’re out at dinner and it’s scolding you not to take the extra slice of pie or telling you to drive faster as you approach a yellow traffic light.”
That voice in Geraci’s head is also leading him to contribute to societal good, as The Tear Downs will perform live March 29 at Needham Town Hall for the Needham Community Council’s Party for the Pantry food drive benefit.
Geraci says the relationship he has with his Tear Downs bandmates allows him to branch out and take a few musical chances, all while retaining his own creative vision and weaving it into the band’s emerging storyline.
“The Tear Downs are a great group to collaborate with and are very supportive performing my solo stuff along with our originals,” he says. “But, with this EP and specifically ‘Voice In My Head,’ I had a well-defined path regarding arrangements and instrumentation and a small window to record. So, tracking the four tunes came together rather quickly.
Part of that was due to Geraci’s collaboration with producer and engineer Dave Westner, known for his work with homegrown luminaries Peter Wolf and Dropkick Murphys, who provided drums and piano on the track to complement Geraci’s work on guitar, bass, and vocals. “Voice In My Head” was recorded by Westner at Woolly Mammoth Sound in Waltham, where The Tear Downs often recorded with Dave Mineham, and it was mastered by David Lock at JP Masters in Seattle, Washington.
Steve Geraci, brings a refreshing vibe and sound with his latest single, “Voice In My Head” We were singing and dancing almost instantly.

Discussing the single, Doncker says, “We are living in a pivotal time in history…Things are tough for everyone, everywhere. Someone once asked me: “What’s the difference between being ‘The Champ’, and being a contender?'” I had no idea…The answer was: “The Champion has the strength of character to get up off the canvas one more time.” Probably the most difficult thing to do. Hard is Hard. Stay strong, keep gettin’ up. One. More. Time!”

To celebrate the news, the band will releaselead single ‘The Ick (Don’t Put Blackcurrant In That Pint Of Guinness)’ on March 5th, 2025, just in time for the St Patrick’s Daycelebrations at their London headline show on March 17th, 2025 at The Dublin Castle, Camden.
Recorded and produced by Richie Kennedy(The Murder Capital, RIDE, Interpol, Shame) at Black Mountain Studios, forthcoming debut album Confessions Of A Pub Talkeris a modern Irish concept record that tells the story of Larry, a barman in his mid-to-late 20s struggling to find his way amidst the social and economic uncertainties of modern Irish life.
Bracing lead single ‘The Ick’ is a tongue-in-cheek satire of the post-punk genre, embracing its recent resurgence and drawing on influences from early Viagra Boys, Idles, and Irish bands such as Gurriers and The Scratch.
The frantic energy displayed on the new single is simply electrifying, we were immediately captivated.
Commenting on the single, the band said: “Lyrically, the track addresses the sacrilegious attempts to taint Ireland’s most sacred beverage—Guinness—and draws a line between those who attempt such absurdities and those who don’t. The global phenomenon of “The Ick” serves as a fitting metaphor, delivering the message with a sharp edge of satire, and highlighting how trivial annoyances can become outlets for frustration in a world full of more significant issues.”

We recently have stellar opportunity, to check out the new album, “Mister Silence “ , from Boston-based alternative project Ghost on TV
The creative greatness behind , Ghost OnTv, is beautifully crafted by songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer, Paul DePasquale . You can listen to “Mister Silence” on Here, Apple Music , Here
There is this beautiful sense of mystery wrapped delicately at the core of “Mister Silence” , from Ghost On T.V. , this sense of mystery and curiosity gives the album a whole new dimension.
The album’s artwork, a photograph of DePasquale and a friend, backs turned, walking through Tokyo’s back alleys in search of a hidden cocktail bar, with elements of bright new technology jostling with old-school decay, reflects a scene like something out of a dystopian film, drawing us deeper into this world.
“It’s good to release art into the world,” says DePasquale, known to New England audiences for his work in celebrated alt-rock band Vary Lumar. “I have been making music and releasing it since 2001. Mister Silence feels like the result of many things re-aligning in my creative mindset and delivering something both raw and polished in more ways than just sonically.”
We felt so many emotions while listening to “Mister Silence“, from Ghost On TV , from the opening track , “Beckon” , all the way through to the closing track, “Mister Silence “ It was the one of the more memorable musical experiences we have had in quite some time.
With its seven bass-and-beat-driven tracks that skip across genre lines with ease, Mister Silence was recorded and mixed by longtime collaborator and co-conspirator Sean McLaughlin of 37’ Productions in Rockland, Massachusetts; and mastered by Jeff Lipton at Peerless Mastering in Boston with assistant mastering engineer Costanza Tinti.
DePasquale, brilliantly, explores many sounds and emotions on “Mister Silence “, the abrasive and confrontational “Crashonomics,” which finds DePasquale exploring glitched-out hip-hop bars. “Pictures Of Us” is perhaps the closest sonic composition to DePasquale’s past life in Vary Lumar, blending synth and rock elements, and the sweeping track plays out like a page ripped from his personal diary.
Mister Silence is all about growing older, being a bit wiser, reminiscing and learning from your past, staying true to oneself, taking liberties, while not being so damn aggressive about anything,” DePasquale says. “We live in a world where most people will wear emotions or show everything up front, looking for validation, and sometimes it is best to just be calm, quiet, thoughtful and reflective. Be silent until it makes sense not to be.”
One listen to, “Mister Silence “ and it is clear you are listening to a trip-hop , electro-pop work of musical excellence, this is definitely one you can’t afford to miss.

Make It Sound French’ follows 2021’s debut album, ‘How Soon is Mars?’ , which received critical acclaim for its innovative sound and emotional depth, celebrated by the likes of Punktastic, Noizze, At The Barrier, Visions and Everything Is Noise and saw the band awarded slots at festivals such as ArcTanGent, Portals and PWER.
Recorded, mixed and mastered with Mark Roberts (Delta Sleep, Black Peaks, Poly-Math, Jamie Lenman) at Devon’s Middle Farm Studios,‘Make It Sound French’ blends elements of math-rock, post-rock and ambient noise to capture the experience of adapting to life’s most unpredictable and overwhelming moments.
GLKMedia
Discussing what they hoped to achieve with the track the band explain, “With ‘Make It Sound French’, we wanted to explore the emotional weight of complex situations purely through music. It’s a deeply personal piece for us, with the absence of words inviting a more universal experience, where the music itself speaks directly to the emotions we all go through. The track builds from intricate guitar textures, driving rhythms to moments of cathartic release, using dynamic shifts and thoughtful builds to express the tension between disorder and serenity aiming to create a sonic representation of the process of working through inner chaos and ultimately finding clarity.
The title comes from a story shared by a close friend whose father was in a punk band in his younger years. During one of their shows, the band decided to play an impromptu cover of ‘Ça plane pour moi’ by Plastic Bertrand. When the lead singer, our friend’s father, told his bandmates he didn’t know the lyrics, one of them responded with “just make it sound French!”. This spontaneous moment stuck with us because it perfectly embodies the themes we wanted to explore in the track: the idea of adapting to the unexpected, leaning into the chaos and finding a way to make something work even when things aren’t perfect. The title captures that spirit of improvisation and fluidity, much like the journey the music itself takes listeners on. We’re thrilled to share this journey with our listeners, and we hope it resonates with anyone who’s ever had to find peace in the midst of turmoil.”
Music is a beautiful vehicle that is meant to take us on wonderful and beautiful adventures, Last Hyena, are brilliant tour guides, as they deliver a remarkable musical adventure with their latest single , “Make It Sound French”
We were beyond excited to check out the new single, “UGLY ”, from Bristol (UK) , rock group Oswald Slain . You can listen to “UGLY” Here
Born from the creative cocoon of their home studio, Oswald Slain is a testament to both personal growth and musical evolution. Recorded over the miserable January of 2024, Oswald Slain’s music reflects a period of introspection and growth. Having reconciled with the chaos of youth and the trials of aging, lyricist Fitz channels these experiences into sincere, humorous, evocative songwriting alongside the timeless swagger of old retro rock records.
GLK Media
We love everything about , “UGLY”, from Oswald Slain, we found ourselves singing along instantly. Oswald Slain, have a vibe and an energy that is impossible not to fall in love with.
“UGLY’follows the release of November’s debut single ‘Happiness Is Overrated‘, championed by RTE, Fame Magazine, KUTX, Rough Trade’s ‘Counter Culture’ and Apple editorial’s ‘New In Rock’.
Produced in-house in their DIY home studio and mastered by Jason Mitchell at LoudMastering (PJ Harvey, XTC, Big Special), ‘UGLY‘ lifts the red curtain on the darker side of the 70’s adult entertainment industry.
GLK Media
Speaking on the inspiration for the song, vocalist and lyricist Charlie Fitzgerald says: “UGLY was one of the first tunes we made at home messing about in our little studio. We really enjoyed the slapping drum beat and fuzzy guitars and wanted to make something gross and tacky with some pretty moments. Lyrically it’s inspired by the film Boogie Nights and all the deranged antics that went on behind the glitz and the glamour of the 70’s adult entertainment industry. I like things that aren’t perfect and people who are not afraid to just be themselves; everyone has an ugly side or a bad angle but that only adds to an overall greater beauty in my opinion.”
We are convinced that Oswald Slain, don’t just write songs … No Oswald Slain write freaking ROCK ANTHEMS! UGLY is a freaking ROCK ANTHEM.
We recently had the distinct honor to check out the new single, “Born All Wrong “ , from Seattle’s Museum Of Light, “Born All Wrong,” is the third single off their upcoming sophomore album Diviner, set for release on March 14 via Spartan Records.
The 11-track LP was produced by Scott Evans (Sumac, Thrice, Kowloon Walled City)..
Museum Of Light, are the absolute masters of being able to brilliantly sculpt sound in to beautifully sonic and melodic works of art , “Born All Wrong”, is no exception.
Drummer Rob Smith says, “As with much of Diviner, “Born All Wrong” is a continuation of all the things that interested us on our first record, just taken further. The heavy stuff is heavier, the pretty stuff is prettier, and the weird stuff is weirder. The song dives into some of the expanded sonic palette that sets this record apart from Horizon. Here, we used a new, lower tuning, replaced some of the synth parts with a human voice (Elissa Alvarez, who is all over this record), and even mixed in some of the crashing waves and sea birds we heard outside the studio window as we worked. The big riff that anchors the first half of the song was written several years ago when we were between bassists. So, we were leaning more on huge, monolithic ideas that sounded good with the guitar running through both guitar and bass amps at the same time. As one of the older songs on the album, we weren’t sure if if was going to make the cut, but as soon as we heard playbacks in the studio, we all had the same thought: ‘well, that’s definitely making the record.”

You can listen to “WHA-GWAAN” on SpotifyHere, Apple Music Here
We were instantly attracted to “WHA-GWAAN” which, features guest drums and vocals rom Fun Lovin’ Criminals/UB40’s Frank Benbini. The groove-alicious is being released on Doncker’s label True Groove Records
Tomás Doncker has long been a prime mover on the New York music, arts and culture scenes. From the early 1980s, as a member of groundbreaking No Wave and Punk Funk bands The Contortions and Defunkt, international touring, recording and songwriting collaborations with the likes of Bootsy Collins, Meshell Ndegeocello, Madonna, The Specials and the legendary Ms. Patti Smith, to helming his own band The True Groove All-Stars, Tomás has established himself as a cross-genre innovator without peer.
Doncker’s previous works have seen praise from the likes of BBC, CNN, Huff Post, MOJO, Spin, Brooklyn Vegan and NPR’s ‘All Songs Considered’, Guitar World, All About Jazz, Paste Magazine, Rolling Stone and Blues Matters Magazine where he was a recent main cover feature.
Wha-Gwaan!’follow’s September’s EP ‘The AMPlified Soul Remixes’, Doncker’s most recent collaboration with the late acclaimed, grammy award winning ‘ambassador of funk’ Amp Fiddler, renowned for his performances with the likes of Prince and Seal.
The track serves as a wake up call to the increasing levels of social and racial injustice and the lack of acknowledgement of it.
On Wha-Gwaan!’s subject matter, Doncker says, “The legendary Nigerian Godfather of Afro Beat, Fela Ransome Kuti once said: ‘Music is the weapon of the future’. Well…The future is most definitely NOW! ‘Wah Gwaan’ is a Jamaican Patois greeting that means ‘what’s going on?’ or ‘what’s up?’. The lyric is a modern day riff on Marvin Gaye’s classic ‘What’s Going On’. Through an Afro Beat / Funk-Rebel music lens. It was designed to be a wake up call response to the seemingly increasing presence of social injustice in the world today. The hypnotic dub-funk groove is brought to the boiling point by the legendary Frank Benbini (Fun Lovin’ Criminals/UB40/Uncle Frank), who I’m thrilled makes a guest appearance on drums and hype vocals.”
When we listen to “WHA-GWAAN” we are reminded why we love music so much . Tomás Doncker along with Frank Benbini has created a vibrant and stunning track we can’t help but love with every being of our music loving heart . “WHA-GWAAN” effortlessly moves our mind , body ( and feet )

New England based alternative rock trio,Falsely Accused, new EP, “Unbroken” , was recently named one of Boston’s most anticipated winter releases by WBUR, Boston’s NPR, and we couldn’t agree more .
When we pushed play to listen to the new sonically blazing EP, “Unbroken, from Falsely Accused, we felt like we were witnessing the rebirth of authentic genuine electrifying life changing alternative rock.
We can’t say we were completely caught off guard on the well crafted EP, September’s explosive “A Drink Before The War” and the gritty desert rock of October’s “Witches”, certainly gave clues of greatness coming.
Courtesy Of The Band
The two above mentioned single are only the tip of the sonically explosive iceberg, that is “Unbroken” . In addition to releasing Unbroken, which hits Bandcamp for digital release on Friday, January 31, The band will also unleash a CD unveiling and record release party on Saturday, February 15 at Thirsty First in Lowell, alongside Derek Smith and the Cosmic Vultures and Adios Fatso. Along the way to the live show, the music video for “A Drink Before The War” debuts on YouTube on Tuesday, February 11.
Falsely Accused ( drummer, Mike Azzolino; bassist and vocalistMatt Tavano; and guitaristMark Young ) are generating a well deserved buzz, including being mentioned in WBUR, Boston’s NPR – Winter Music Guide
“It’s been three years since our last record and to say we’re excited to get our new music out into the world would be an understatement,” admits Tavano. “We worked hard to create a record with new ideas, new sounds and concepts, not just rehashing the same sound from Compression. As we evolve, so must the music.”
Recorded and engineered by Steve Aliperta at Kennedy Studios in Burlington, Massachusetts, and mastered by Dominik Honold at Protonaut Studios in Erkelenz, Germany, Unbroken is the sound of a band finding its groove-rock rhythm, but also its lyrical voice. Tavano wrote the lyrics on Compression as a reflection of him facing death and the inner, psychological emotions that come with it.
We found ourselves constantly replaying “Unbroken“ We loved the post grunge groove on “Castaway” between the soul moving vocals and the incredible guitar work , this song is phenomenal.
“Drifting”, showcases Falsely Accused brilliant ability to take a simple melody and build on it to the point where it is a magnificent musical composition.
The closing track, “SoulCrushing “ is a true musical opus, that takes your mind body and soul on an unbelievable musical journey. It is the perfect way to close out a stunningly spectacular EP.
We recently had the fantastic opportunity to check out the earth shaking new single “DayOf The Canyon “ from the Boston and Phoenix melodic noise-rock duo, Canyons And Locusts You can listen to “Day Of The Canyon” on Spotify Here, Apple Music Here
It is the second offering from the band’s forthcoming discordant anti-hero concept album, The Goal Gigolo, which boils to the surface on February 21 and was tabbed by WBUR, Boston’s NPR, as one of the most-anticipated New England records of the winter. The album draws together several storytelling narrators underneath the duo’s unhinged wall of fuzzed-out rock and roll, and carries an unfurling narrative that began in November with the release of the gritty, confrontational, and catchier-than-an-attitude lead single “Anna Save A Life.”
There is such a commanding presence on “Day Of The Canyon “ from Canyons And Locusts. The sonic and melodic elements on the track complement each other perfectly.
Courtesy Of The Band
At its magnetic core, stripped of all the meaning and clues buried beneath lyrics and the Canyons and Locusts sound, “Day of the Canyon” is a declaration. It finds vocalist, guitarist, and bassistJustin Keane and drummerAmy Young locked into an adrenalized harmony, crafting their chaotic cacophony of sound – and ultimately, a storytelling vision – that extends far beyond the imagined capacities of two musicians currently situated on opposite sides of the country, leaning on a shared chemistry that belies their physical 2,700-mile separation.
“This is a song of arrival,” says Keane. “That’s the capstone lyric: ‘We have arrived’. Stepping off the plane and into the sun. Take your pictures and flash your bulbs. Game on.”Young agrees, adding: “It truly does come down to those three words. We are comfortable in our skin as a band in a very exciting way. We’ve kept the power from past lessons, shed the rest, and are here for all of what is now and what’s next.”
“Day Of The Canyon” from Canyons And Locusts is a musical triumph that shines the spotlight on impressive musicianship and music at it’s absolute best , find your favorite listening spot and get lost in the musical brilliance of “Days Of The Canyon”
