The Fool’s Agenda Hit The Jackpot, With Extraordinary New Album, “Fool’s Gold”

We had the distinct honor to check out the blazing new album “Fool‘s Gold”, from Salem and Cape Cod grunge-pop and alt-rock band, The Fool’s Agenda. You can listen to “Fool’s Gold “Here

The Fool’s Agenda, have constructed a one of a kind vibe and sound on their sophomore album, “Fool’s Gold” We are absolutely smitten.

Led by a quartet of singles, including three unveiled just this year in the towering “Feel So High,” the anthemic “Monsters,” and August’s supercharged rock and roll popularity content take down “Dumb (Take Me Out)”, the new album from the Salem and Cape Cod-based powderkeg channels a certain nostalgic optimism that reflects its ‘90s-coded sound, all while aligning the band with a parallel journey that also ties the decade to the two that came before it.

The Fool’s Agenda, consists of a rock solid lineup with , vocalist Rhiannon Raine; guitarist Kyle Erickson; bassist Jon Gray; and drummer and percussionist Kamryn Bode.

This album tells a story of coming home to yourself: Accepting yourself with where you’re at, owning your strengths and your weaknesses, and knowing when to walk away from the things and people that aren’t serving you anymore,” says Raine. “Life is messy as fuck. Own your mess and decide it’s beautiful.”

Erickson agrees, adding: “To me, this album is about independence. Being able to cut through the noise, so to speak, and just focus on things that matter. Recognizing your own faults and those in the world we live in and trying to make something positive of it.”

Where 2021 debut album Reversing The Tower was indebted to a more ethereal ‘70s flair for grandeur, connecting with the more theatrical sounds of Fleetwood Mac and Queen, Fool’s Gold blazes forward with a restless convergence of pop and grunge exemplified by some of the ‘90s’ finest moments.

This album is distinctly different from our previous works; it’s less theatrical and more direct,” says Gray. “We had a clearer message to send through one collective voice, and naturally that changes the sound the band creates. It isn’t really a concept album, but there are themes that tie the songs together lyrically and phonically.”

Along with the powerful rock and grunge sound that is heard and felt throughout “Fool’s Gold” We also heard an addictive groove that is beautifully woven throughout the record, most notably on “Monsters”

Produced by Logan Tichnor, mixed and mastered by Franco Gravante and Tichnor, and recorded in Massachusetts at both Checkpoint East Studios in Orleans and The Record Co. in Boston, The Fool’s Agenda is a cohesive and comprehensive body of work, where each song emerges as a chapter to a larger, unfolding story. It reflects the highs and lows of life, the short bursts of fear or excitement, and the long, drawn-out emotions that soundtrack both the important and the mundane.

You need to go find your favorite music spot and bask in the glow of “Fool’s Gold”, from The Fool’s Agenda.

One Of The Smartest Things You Can Do Today, Is To Check Out The Red Hot New Single, “Dumb (Take Me Out)” From The Fool’s Agenda

Sophomore album set for October release

We recently had the stellar opportunity to check out the new single, “Dumb ( Take Me Out), from Salem, Mass, grunge-pop and alternative rock band, The Fool’s Agenda. You can listen “Dumb ( Take Me Out) Here

The Fool’s Agenda, prove from the very first note of “Dumb( Take Me Out) that they have smart and electrifying grunge pop sound that you would be dumb not to turn it all the way up.

The Fool’s Agenda, poke fun at poseurs in grand brilliantly loud fashion and we love every minute of it.

The follow-up to March’s “Monsters” and May’s “Feel So High,” the latest from the cynically whimsical quartet is a dizzying spell of riff-fueled alt-rock rage and will be featured on their forthcoming sophomore album, due out in October.

Rock and roll has never been about being cool or trendy – it’s always been misfits making art to feel seen by one another,” say The Fool’s Agenda. “Somewhere along the line, it became somewhat of a popularity contest: Who’s got the best content, the coolest outfits; people looking to be adored as a sense of validation through their art rather than looking for a community and to make a difference with it. It’s really easy to fall into that trap when you so badly want to be successful. This song is making fun of that whole mentality.”

And that it does. As songwriter, lyricist, and powerhouse vocalist Rhiannon Raine blasts through the track with a breakneck delivery that shifts from hypnotic deadpan to confrontational fury, the rest of the band – guitarist Kyle Erickson; bassist Jon Gray; and percussionist Kamryn Bode – backs her up with a punk rock ferocity and frenzied urgency.

Dumb (Take Me Out)” should sound as lively on stage as it does on record when The Fool’s Agenda play “Dumb (Take Me Out)” should sound as lively on stage as it does on record when The Fool’s Agenda play Warehouse XI in Somerville with Pearl on release night, August 15, as well as Moon Base One in their native Salem on August 31 in support of Kick Out The Rogue and Super Beef. A few days later, they return to the sober all-ages venue for a headlining gig on September 5. The next day, The Fool’s Agenda take it outside for a free outdoor matinee show at Wakefield Porchfest on September 6, and then play Ralph’s in Worcester on September 27 with Gold Star Boulevard.

Go find your favorite listening spot, and get lost in the absolute melodic goodness of “Dumb (Take Me Out )” from The Fool’s Agenda.

Saturday Pick: Dark Sun Bring Powerful, Electrifying Energy With Latest Single, “Dig Down”

We recently had the incredible opportunity to check out the latest single , “Dig Down”, from Chicago, based hard rock band , Dark Sun.

You can listen to “Dig Down“ on Spotify Here, Apple Music, Here

Dark Sun ( Tristan Sheedlo, vocals, guitar , Luke Sheedlo, drums) brilliantly takes the familiar hard rock/ grunge sound and makes into a sound and vibe that is all their own.

As soon as we heard the opening riff on “Dig Down” we were totally mesmerized. Dark Sun , has crafted an absolute gem .

The soaring vocals are perfectly placed between perfect and memorable melodies that ring in your soul, long after the music has ended . We have a feel that this Dark Sun is freaking phenomenal live and in person.

The level of musicianship with Dark Sun is absolutely off the charts . They are a well oiled rock band that appears unstoppable. We can’t wait to see what they do next

Canyons And Locusts Paint An Absolutely Gorgeous Melodic Masterpiece With “The Goal Gigolo”

All music compositions start the same , a blank undefined thought that finds life and melody , that is then shared with the world . Boston and phoenix melodic noise rock duo , Canyons And Locusts, deliver to the universe and beyond, their striking concept record The Goal Gigolo today, (Friday, February 21) , about a ’70s-era anti-hero who can’t seem to escape his own past misfortunes.

You can listen to , “The Goal Gigolo” on Bandcamp Here

At the core of the beautiful noise and fuzz that is feverishly front and center on “The Goal Gigolo” , from Canyons And Locust , is the cinematic and musical greatness that makes , “The Goal Gigolo , shine.

“The Goal Gigolo” draws together several storytelling narrators underneath the duo’s unhinged wall of fuzzed-out rock and roll. It fully realizes an unfurling narrative from vocalist, guitarist, and bassist Justin Keane and drummer Amy Young that began in November with the release of the gritty, confrontational, and catchier-than-an-attitude lead single “Anna Save A Life” and last month’s anthemic, ebullient, and riff-fueled “Day of the Canyon.”

The Goal Gigolo, tabbed by WBUR, Boston’s NPR, as one of the most-anticipated New England records of the winter, and after a deep listen, we completely agree. There is no reason, why “The Goal Gigolo” should be on a gazillion different “Best Albums” of 2025.

From the opening note on “Have To Fire That Goal Gigolo” , it is crystal clear that Canyons And Locusts have harnessed musical nirvana.

Broadly speaking, The Goal Gigolo is the story of a guy who makes his living solving others’ emotional problems while trying not to get entangled with them romantically,” says Keane. “It’s set in the 1970s, so I guess we weren’t calling those people life coaches yet.”

And like most moments of inspiration, the seeds of the story first came to Keane in a dream.

It sounds made up, but scout’s honor truth here – I had a really vivid dream about a guy named The Goal Gigolo, and the dream was very much sepia-toned and ‘70s feeling, so much so that when I woke up I slapped the details into ChatGPT for fun and asked it to come up with an imaginary show pitch. Then a couple of hours later I was like… wait… an ALBUM!”

The cinematic saga of The Goal Gigolo, like some kind of distant cousin to Robert Altman’s film The Long Goodbye, plays out like the latest hit Netflix drama we all binge-watch over a weekend and talk about with coworkers on Slack or Teams come Monday morning.

Every song on “The Goal Gigolo”, from Canyons And Locusts are energetic sonically perfect gems that feature the thunderous and powerful drumming of Amy Young and the one of kind and authentic voice and fuzzed out guitar genius of Justin Keane.

The well woven story in “The Goal Gigolo” had us literally hanging on every word . Besides the lead single, “Anna Save A life” and the follow up , “Day Of The Canyon “ , we found ourselves gravitating towards other stellar tracks such as , “Trapped In Trigger, “Here Come The Buzzards “, and “Take Me Back Lee’s

It was Justin’s dream, but easy for me to connect with – the songs tell the stories,” Young adds. “It’s a journey, and watching journeys unfold is fascinating. It’s a movie that I see in my mind based on Justin’s words. I got to help add a soundtrack to this guy’s goings-on. What’s not awesome about that?”

Picking a favorite track, on an album like , “The Goal Gigolo “, is next to impossible, however the one track that really stood out to us was…. “Motorwall Oil” , this is Canyons And Locusts, at their absolute best . ( The drum and guitar sounds they were able to create are absolutely otherworldly) Everything about this track is spectacularly magnificent. The one thing that really stood out to us on “Motorwall Oil” , how both Young and Keane were almost cosmically connected.

“I listen to what he’s telling me,Young says. “We’ve known each other and played together for a long time, so generally, I know where his core is at – the nature of where he’s coming from. If not, we’ll talk about it, and then it’s about thinking about how to bring that to life sonically — but also not overthinking it because we leave a lot for the moment when we just play each song and let that give it a lot of its life. And that is really exciting. It starts with him bringing something to me, and then it becomes a glorious conversation.”

“The Goal Gigolo “ , was Produced by Justin Keane and Ethan Dussault. Recorded and mixed by Ethan Dussault at New Alliance Studio in 2023, 2024. Mastered by Nick Zampiello at New Alliance East, 2024

Falsely Accused Flexes Greatness On New EP, “Unbroken”

Artwork by Matt Tavano

New England based alternative rock trio, Falsely Accused, new EP, “Unbroken” , was recently named one of Boston’s most anticipated winter releases by WBUR, Boston’s NPR, and we couldn’t agree more .

You can listen to “Unbroken” on Bandcamp Here

When we pushed play to listen to the new sonically blazing EP, “Unbroken, from Falsely Accused, we felt like we were witnessing the rebirth of authentic genuine electrifying life changing alternative rock.

We can’t say we were completely caught off guard on the well crafted EP,  September’s explosive “A Drink Before The War” and the gritty desert rock of October’s “Witches”, certainly gave clues of greatness coming.

Courtesy Of The Band

The two above mentioned single are only the tip of the sonically explosive iceberg, that is “Unbroken” . In addition to releasing Unbroken, which hits Bandcamp for digital release on Friday, January 31, The band will also unleash a CD unveiling and record release party on Saturday, February 15 at Thirsty First in Lowell, alongside Derek Smith and the Cosmic Vultures and Adios Fatso. Along the way to  the live show, the music video for “A Drink Before The War” debuts on YouTube on Tuesday, February 11.

Falsely Accused ( drummer , Mike Azzolino; bassist and vocalist Matt Tavano; and guitarist Mark Young ) are generating a well deserved buzz, including being mentioned in WBUR, Boston’s NPRWinter Music Guide

It’s been three years since our last record and to say we’re excited to get our new music out into the world would be an understatement,” admits Tavano. “We worked hard to create a record with new ideas, new sounds and concepts, not just rehashing the same sound from Compression. As we evolve, so must the music.”

Recorded and engineered by Steve Aliperta at Kennedy Studios in Burlington, Massachusetts, and mastered by Dominik Honold at Protonaut Studios in Erkelenz, Germany, Unbroken is the sound of a band finding its groove-rock rhythm, but also its lyrical voice. Tavano wrote the lyrics on Compression as a reflection of him facing death and the inner, psychological emotions that come with it.

We found ourselves constantly replaying “Unbroken“ We loved the post grunge groove on “Castaway” between the soul moving vocals and the incredible guitar work , this song is phenomenal.

“Drifting”, showcases Falsely Accused brilliant ability to take a simple melody and build on it to the point where it is a magnificent musical composition.

The closing track, “Soul Crushing “ is a true musical opus, that takes your mind body and soul on an unbelievable musical journey. It is the perfect way to close out a stunningly spectacular EP.
