One Of The Smartest Things You Can Do Today, Is To Check Out The Red Hot New Single, “Dumb (Take Me Out)” From The Fool’s Agenda

Sophomore album set for October release

We recently had the stellar opportunity to check out the new single, “Dumb ( Take Me Out), from Salem, Mass, grunge-pop and alternative rock band, The Fool’s Agenda. You can listen “Dumb ( Take Me Out) Here

The Fool’s Agenda, prove from the very first note of “Dumb( Take Me Out) that they have smart and electrifying grunge pop sound that you would be dumb not to turn it all the way up.

The Fool’s Agenda, poke fun at poseurs in grand brilliantly loud fashion and we love every minute of it.

The follow-up to March’s “Monsters” and May’s “Feel So High,” the latest from the cynically whimsical quartet is a dizzying spell of riff-fueled alt-rock rage and will be featured on their forthcoming sophomore album, due out in October.

Rock and roll has never been about being cool or trendy – it’s always been misfits making art to feel seen by one another,” say The Fool’s Agenda. “Somewhere along the line, it became somewhat of a popularity contest: Who’s got the best content, the coolest outfits; people looking to be adored as a sense of validation through their art rather than looking for a community and to make a difference with it. It’s really easy to fall into that trap when you so badly want to be successful. This song is making fun of that whole mentality.”

And that it does. As songwriter, lyricist, and powerhouse vocalist Rhiannon Raine blasts through the track with a breakneck delivery that shifts from hypnotic deadpan to confrontational fury, the rest of the band – guitarist Kyle Erickson; bassist Jon Gray; and percussionist Kamryn Bode – backs her up with a punk rock ferocity and frenzied urgency.

Dumb (Take Me Out)” should sound as lively on stage as it does on record when The Fool’s Agenda play “Dumb (Take Me Out)” should sound as lively on stage as it does on record when The Fool’s Agenda play Warehouse XI in Somerville with Pearl on release night, August 15, as well as Moon Base One in their native Salem on August 31 in support of Kick Out The Rogue and Super Beef. A few days later, they return to the sober all-ages venue for a headlining gig on September 5. The next day, The Fool’s Agenda take it outside for a free outdoor matinee show at Wakefield Porchfest on September 6, and then play Ralph’s in Worcester on September 27 with Gold Star Boulevard.

Go find your favorite listening spot, and get lost in the absolute melodic goodness of “Dumb (Take Me Out )” from The Fool’s Agenda.

Rum Bar Records, offered up its first Swagger compilation back in Summer 2023, putting a spotlight on the venerable Boston label’s West Coast roster of bands and artists, it was only a matter of time before the comp’s rock and roll ethos spread across the country.

Now, Rum Bar is serving up another round, as the free, 28-track “Swagger: Second Shot” compilation hits the label’s Bandcamp page today, (Friday, March 21). You can listen to “Swagger: Second Shot on Bandcamp Here

Come for the free comp, and stay for a Nice Price of affordable and cost-friendly rock and roll. The swagger15 discount code is good for all Rum Bar’s physical products, bundles, swag and digital releases via its Bandcamp Shop. There’s also an 80% off offer for Rum Bar’s full digital discography, and Mansdorf is applying the new 15% discount to that as well.

I’ve been using the term ‘Swagger’ for the past few years to categorize the music we work with – and our love of dive bar, three-to-four-chord rock and roll,” says Mansdorf. “It’s got a groove with elements of garage, punk, glam and alt-country tossed in. This year we had some new releases and artists we wanted to get heard, mixed it up a little between West Coast and East Coast. We added some more elements of Boston and rebel-rouser Rum Bar acts along with some catalog tracks and came up with a brand new compilation that I think sounds fresh and exciting. I hope listeners will crank up and enjoy it as much as we did putting it together.”

This new Swagger: Second Shot features (in order on the comp): 20th Century Boys, Slamdinistas, Foxy, Joe Jennings MVP’s, Gene Champagne, Brad Marino, Jay Allen and the Archcriminals, The Hellflowers, The Laissez Fairs, Tony Marsico and the Ugly Thingz, Tom Baker, The Ghost Truckers, Miss Georgia Peach, The Hi-End, Junior Varsity, Stop Calling Me Frank, The Lemon Drop Gang, French Girls, The Glimmer Stars, The Hollywood Stars, Watts, Richard Duguay & The Beautiful Decline, The Short Fuses, Tim McCoy, The Cornfed Project, The Legendary Swagger, Mochines, and The Dogs.

We are over the moon for “Swagger: Second Shot”, there is something for every music lover on the planet. Lou Mansdorf has truly outdone himself this time.

But wait… there is more news!

Lou, is excited to share : “We have heard rumblings of new music coming this summer from The Spackles, Stop Calling Me Frank, The Hi-End and The Peppermint Kicks, the collaboration from Sal Baglio and Dan Kopko,” Mansdorf reveals. “We will also be working and supporting the brand new album from Muck and the Mires coming out on Dirty Water Records this year. Our biggest announcement to share is the highly anticipated brand new full length release from The Dogmatics due out in July!! That’s right, a brand new full-length album release from The Dogmatics. All of that plus a few more surprises on tap.”

As always great things are coming from Rum Bar Records, and we can’t wait.
