Bicycle Inn Drop Phenomenal New Single, “Ordinary Hell”

We recently had the amazing opportunity to check out the new single, “Ordinary Hell”, from rising Boston emo outfit Bicycle Inn. You can listen to “Ordinary Hell” on Spotify Here and on Apple Music Here

Bicycle Inn, bring power, passion , melody and authenticity on their latest single, “Ordinary Hell” and it is a thing of beauty.

Photo Olivia St. Arnold

The track follows September’s Longsword (4th Place),” which marked the band’s first release in two years and reintroduced them with a sharpened sense of purpose and sonic ambition.

If “Longsword” was about confronting stagnation, “Ordinary Hell” digs deeper — turning inward to explore faith, exhaustion, and the search for meaning amid emotional and spiritual burnout.

Ordinary Hell’ is a critique on the dead-faith culture of today. It’s a deeper look behind the curtain of evangelical emptiness — a gospel presiding over the endless push and pull of suffering, only for those deemed ‘blessed’ and ‘filled’ to realize they are empty,” says the band. “It’s a reflection on the cyclical nature of relying on others to fulfill you, only to immediately empty yourself out again. There’s no rest, no rejuvenation — only the gospel of self; performative holiness.

Recorded over two sessions with Gary Cioni at Soundacres Studio(Hot Mulligan, Free Throw, Prince Daddy & The Hyena) during 2023 and 2024, “Ordinary Hell” features guest appearances from Ryan O’Rourke (Innerlove.), Kyle Kinney(Excuse Me, Who Are You?), and Maggie Ciora, expanding Bicycle Inn’s already rich emotional palette.

With shimmering guitars, soaring vocals, and lyrics that confront the sacred and the hollow alike, “Ordinary Hell” continues Bicycle Inn’s steady climb as one of the most introspective and musically dynamic voices in modern emo.

We have a warm spot in our hearts for bands from Boston. But….it doesn’t matter where they are from …. Bicycle Inn, has sculpted a work of art with “Ordinary Hell”

Beta Trip Shares New Single, “On My Mind”

We recently had the stellar opportunity to check out the new single, “On My Mind”, from Toronto-based multi-instrumentalist Beta Trip, (aka Steve Lewin) You can listen to “On My Mind” Here

Beta Trip ( aka Steve Lewin) create an elegant and music experience, that touches all the senses. This is front and center on the stunningly perfect new single, “On My Mind”

“On My Mind”,is an introspective and melody-rich single that continues the rollout for his full-length debut Superette, arriving September 26 on Having Fun Records, the rock imprint of We Are Busy Bodies. Where “Juliet” introduced listeners to Beta Trip’s layered guitar work and emotionally forward songwriting, “On My Mind” leans into chiming textures and measured dynamics, delivering a song that’s intimate, reflective, and sonically expansive.

Originally written as a quiet acoustic piece, “On My Mind” gradually builds into something far more powerful. “The song achieves a large dynamic payload with supporting instrumentation to bring its intimacy from emotional ballad to forceful drive,” says Lewin. “This sound is embodied throughout the entire album as “On My Mind “became the benchmark sound and reference point throughout the production of Superette.” The result is a track that feels emotionally immediate while setting a high-water mark for the record’s sonic direction.MM

We are 100 percent all in on Beta Trip, and the otherworldly new single, “On My Mind”

INDIE-ROCK BREAKOUT MEG ELSIER RETURNS WITH AN ABSOLUTE GIFT WITH SPITTAKE (DELUXE)

We recently had the opportunity to check out rising indie-rock artist meg elsier, as  returns with spittake (deluxe), via Bright Antenna Records. the expanded edition of her acclaimed debut album, featuring 17 tracks including unreleased demos, raw live recordings, and intimate B-sides.

You can listen to “spittake (deluxe) Here

Blending gauzy shoegaze textures, grungy guitars, and razor-sharp lyricism, spittake (deluxe) gives a more unfiltered glimpse into the messy, uncertain, and deeply human process behind the music. Through candid reflections on love, loss, nostalgia, youth, anxiety, and self-doubt, meg draws listeners deeper into her sonic world with sharp self-awareness and a distinctly self-deprecating edge.

These B-sides, these demos, this deluxe—it’s a celebration of all the little choices that made ‘spittake’ what it is,” meg says. “Creating is such a vulnerable playground. It’s a place to make mistakes. It’s a place to try these characters and voices and performances without anyone watching. I wanted to show how much beauty can exist in the unfinished and imperfect.”

In listening to spittake (deluxe) you can hear the ever evolving artistry of meg elsier.

One of the most exciting and electrifying new voices in the indie-rock scene, meg elsier juxtaposes sweet vocals and opulent melodies with grungy guitars and weighty production. Her 2024 debut LP garnered praise from DIY Magazine, OnesToWatch, and CLASH for its emotionally raw storytelling and distinct sonic identity. Known for her emotionally charged live shows, meg recently wrapped tours with Blondshell and Liz Cooper, further cementing her reputation as one of indie rock’s most compelling new voices.

Our favorite track on Spittake (deluxe) , is “run[old song]”. We are absolutely in love with the sound and vibe on this track. It is meg elsier at her absolute best.

Spittake (deluxe) from meg elsier, is an absolute delight.

The Chelsea Curve Make Us “Kindawanna” Groove Till Dawn

Design by Linda Pardee

We recently had the tremendous opportunity to check out the new single, “Kindawanna”,via Rum Bar Records , from Boston mod-pop trio, The Chelsea Curve. You can listen to “Kindawanna”, on Spotify Here, Apple Music Here and Bandcamp Here

“Kindawanna” packs an electrifying buzz that can be felt on both sides of the Atlantic.

Kindawanna,” an assertive declaration that raises a glass to the good times and the ones we love

“It makes me ‘Kindawanna’ jump on top of a table and scream real loud!” says vocalist and bassist Linda Pardee. “It’s Chelsea 2.0 – bigger, badder, maybe even a bit goofier, too!”

The opening riff on“Kindawanna” , from The Chelsea Curve , hits like the opening salvo of the most brilliant summertime fireworks display you have ever seen.

Flawless vocals and melodies that will dance with you for days, “Kindawanna” is kinda a big deal.

Back in May, the stylish trio returned to the scene with a fresh double A-side single featuring a rousing cover of Mickey Lee Lane’s 1960s Northern soul stomper “Hey Sah-Lo-Ney” and an Andy Lewis remix of “Jamie C’Mon” – with both tracks currently hanging steady for several weeks in the Top 5 of the global Radio Indie Alliance Chart – before the 7-inch arrives this summer on Mod Glass Clear or Sharp Suit Black vinyl. And just last month, the band unleashed through new label home of Rum Bar a reloaded CD re-issue of 2022 debut album All The Things – this one dubbed All The Things (And More) — that collects what the band’s been up to in the time since.

With the band freshly outfitted by 66 Clothing and Mod Shoes, the trio takes “Kindawanna” and both new and classic material out on the road for several shows this summer both near to and far from home.

The slate kicked off July 13 with a party at The Worthen Cafe in Lowell with friends and comrades Corin Ashley, Stop Calling Me Frank, and DJ Sherman, before bouncing down to New York City on July 19, the day after the “Kindawanna” drop, with their familiar DJ in tow to light up The Parkside with Palmyra Delran & the Doppel Gang and The Pin Ups.

From there, The Chelsea Curve then cross the Atlantic for another England mini-tour, a three-show burst that plays Poco Loco in Chatham on August 21 with The Len Price 3, Burntwick Smugglers, and Cream Soda; followed by Concorde2 in Brighton on August 22 with The Jam’d, Sharp Class, Cian Downing; and then linking up with mod-pop brethren and stateside tourmates Sharp Class to play Ryde Pavilion on the Isle of Wight at the world’s largest scooter rally.

We are absolutely stoked about “Kindawanna”, from The Chelsea Curve and.. we know you will be too.

Jonathan Richman Shines With New Album, “Only Frozen Sky Anyway”

We recently had the opportunity to check out the new album, “Only Frozen Sky Anyway”,the 18th album, via Blue Arrow Records (vinyl and CD will be released at a later date TBA), from legendary singer-songwriter, Jonathan Richman, and spoiler alert: it is stunning.

You can listen to “Only Frozen Sky Anyway” on Spotify Here, Apple Music Here

With his longtime drummer and percussionist Tommy Larkins and former Modern Lovers bandmate the inimitable Jerry Harrison (Talking Heads) on keyboards, Richman follows in his longtime tradition of injecting his lyrical wit into indie rock in a fashion that he perfected over the decades.

Kicking off with the rhythmic “I Was Just A Piece of Frozen Sky Anyway,” the album finds Richman better than ever traipsing through acoustic styles effortlessly from track to track. Lifting the melody and chorus from Bee Gee’s eponymous hit single, Richman creates a nostalgic narrative in “Night Fever,” where he takes on a voyeuristic look on typical a Saturday night in Europe. The infectiously propulsive “The Older Girl” sees Richman warning a younger fellow to avoid dating up (“She was a whole year older / And I looked a lot younger / I was too young to know how important those two things were”). The Spanish-inflected “Se Va Pa’volver” captures the thematic thread of departures and returns that permeates the album. Richman explains, “Like many of the songs on this new record, which either existed in a vague, skeletal form or did not at all before we started recording on January 5th of ’25 (and finished by January 10th), this song fits in with the theme that seems to have taken shape during that recording session. The song is about how our friends are leaving, in their dying, on an errand, only to return in another role… with another mission. How do I dare say such a thing? Oh…I don’t know.”

In addition to this album of all new material, Blue Arrow will be releasing his last three albums Ishkode! Ishkode! (2016), SA! (2018) and Want To Visit My Inner House? (2021) as well as the EPs Cold Pizza & Other Hot Stuff(2022) and Yatasamaroun (2023) to streaming services for the first time ever. Previously only available via Bandcamp or for purchase at shows, the rollout of these releases finally makes them accessible to a much larger audience. Of these albums, Richman says, “Jerry Harrison, Nicole Montalbano and I produced [Want To Visit My Inner House?] as well as SA! (2018). To us, the two albums are related in the sense that Want to Visit My Inner House?suggests where SA was starting to head.”

In support of Only Frozen Sky Anyway, Richman has announced a Fall tour that kicks off October 3rd in Boise, ID and circles the continent, hitting Calgary, Winnipeg, Minneapolis, Albany, before wrapping up at Portland, ME’s SPACE Gallery.  Dates and info

Jonathan Richman, is more than your average singer-songwriter, he is a musical institution . “Only Frozen Sky Anyway “ is an absolute triumph from Jonathan Richman.

Insolence” showcases a powerhouse lineup: Neil Hennessy (The Lawrence Arms), Asher Simon (Joey Cape’s Bad Loud)Mikey Erg (The Ergs, The Unlovables), and Jon Snodgrass (Drag the River, Scorpios). Oswald Slain Absolutely Slay With Incredible Debut EP, “Kiss Me On The Mouth”

We recently had the amazing opportunity to check out the debut EP, “Kiss Me On The Mouth”, from Bristol, UK rock band, Oswald Slain. You can listen to “Kiss Me On The Mouth” Here

Oswald Slain, have just right sound and vibe that could quite possibly save the world ( or at the very least make you have the best day ever) “Kiss Me On The Mouth” is about to be your new favorite EP, you just don’t know it yet .

Recored entirely from home in their DIY home studio and mastered by Jason Mitchell at Loud Mastering (PJ Harvey, XTC, Big Special), ‘KISS ME ON THE MOUTH’ reflects a period of introspection and growth for vocalist and lyricist Charlie Fitzgerald. Having reconciled with the chaos of youth and the trials of aging, Fitz channels these experiences into sincere, humorous, evocative songwriting alongside the timeless swagger of old retro rock records, lyrically exploring personal flaws, self-acceptance and the feelings of constant imposter syndrome.

Right from the start there is an ultra cool presence that flows freely throughout the EP.

The opening track, “Ugly” is a total gem. As we stated in our original review, “We love everything about , “UGLY”, from Oswald Slain, we found ourselves singing along instantly. Oswald Slain, have a vibe and an energy that is impossible not to fall in love with”.

You can you check out the fantastic video for “Ugly” below

“Road Runner “ (aka, “Sean Paul”) is the most stunning 2 minute and 46 second dance party we have ever heard . Oswald Slain, have a beautiful habit of creating incredible jams , and “Road Runner “ is no exception.

Discussing the creation of the EP, vocalist and lyricist Charlie Fitzgerald says: We spent a couple of weeks in 2024 writing and recording loads of tunes. Every day I’d get up and write a couple of ideas and some lyrics, then we’d work together to orchestrate it, finishing the song together and tracking everything there and then. It was all pretty quick and it was a great way to make music because everything was pretty much written and recorded on the same day. We ended up with around 18 tunes. The EP was made up of all of the fun little bangers that we loved but couldn’t fit into what we wanted for a future album, which is a very exciting and different beast entirely. A lot of the EP lyric-wise comes from dealing with constant imposter syndrome and confidence loss. It’s important to go through change as a person but also nice to make it into a positive thing that can be fun and joyful. I was lucky enough to have people around me at the time who were keen to make this music and for that I’ll be forever grateful.”

The third track, on the EP, “Mystery Bag”, is a mesmerizing melody that has flawless vocals and a groove that you just can’t escape .

We were immediately attracted to the drum beat and percussive sounds of the title track, “Kiss Me On The Mouth” After listening to the track, we might have to add the title lyrical genius to Charlie Fitzgerald.

The closing track , “Baby Boy” has a real old school feel to it . We heard shades of Bob Dylan, on this track . We can neither confirm or deny that we have listened to this song a million times (freaking brilliant)

If your music loving soul, is aching for amazing music, look no further than the dazzling debut EP, “Kiss Me On The Mouth “ from the mighty Oswald Slain.

To celebrate the release of the EP, Oswald Slain are excited to be embarking on their debut UK tour which commences at Newcastle’s Trillians Bar tomorrow (April 17th). You can check out other dates below.

Real Beaut Has Our Full Attention With Red Hot New Ep, “Politics”

Artwork Credit- Jason Zico

Every day we are giving stunning examples of why we love music so much. Today’s example, is courtesy of Boston alt-rock band, Real Beaut and their epically awesome new EP, “Politics”

You can listen to “Politics” on Spotify Here,

The Boston alt-rock band, composed of all those other rock and roll groups that soundtracked the gritty and messy underbelly of the city’s music scene over the past several years, unleash new EP Politics today, (Friday, April 4) . The official record release party goes down the following night at the band’s unofficial home base, The Middle East in Cambridge, leading a sparkplug bill alongside American Ethos, Dwelley, and Bad at Drawing

And regardless of where one may be on that Saturday night, the might and magnitude of Politics should be audibly heard far and loud. A powderkeg of a four-track record and the follow-up to 2023 debut EP Gentle Messages, it finds Real Beaut’s four members – guitarist Andrew Doherty; drummer and producer Benny Grotto, bassist and vocalist Johnny Northrup; and vocalist Keith Pierce – shifting into creative overdrive and embracing a new creative gear after years of collaboration, chemistry, and friendship.

Our excitement around releasing Politics is fairly boundless,” says Pierce. “We have been trying hard to keep this record under wraps. Creating new interesting guitar-driven music in a relatable, communicative way is difficult but Real Beaut is one of the finest rock experiments I’ve ever been a part of. This new EP is very different from some of our earlier productions but we tried to retain the speed and ferocity of our youth through practice, recording, and respect for the listener.”

An EP, like “Politics ”, is what happens when four next-level musicians get together and make the most spectacular-sounding collection of songs, we have heard in quite some time.

Even with each of the four blistering tracks all assuming its own sonic identity – confrontational opening banger “Politics on the Internet,” abrasively addresses what the title implies; the seismic “Paying Attention,” which hit Bandcamp early as an aural appetizer and has been described as a sort of grunge take on Van Halen; the hypnotic rock murkiness of ”Profane and Pedigree”; and the suffocating guitar assault of closer “Islands” – there is a cohesion that flows across the EP’s breathless and impatient 12 minutes of runtime.

Real Beaut always strives to find ways for building tension and allowing opportunity for release,” says Doherty. “Sometimes this is achieved by riding the line between discord and melody, or by letting the song sit in a sustained, dark pocket… festering or incubating, before breaking through and emerging as something new. These new tracks are a continuation of a process from our early work, but with more identifiable Real Beaut qualities.”

We hope to meet with the members of Real Beaut someday soon so we can personally congratulate them on crafting a stunningly brilliant EP, with “Politics”

Phoneboy Releases New Single “Red Wine” And It Is Absolutely Phenomenal

Phoneboy’s third album, Heartbreak Designer, out in April 25, 2025

We recently had the absolutely divine experience to check out the latest single “Red Wine” from indie rock band, Phoneboy

You can listen to“Red Wine” Here , You can also check out the video below

“Red Wine” is Phoneboy, at their electrifying best , we were captivated from the first note (and we loved every minute of it . Phoneboy takes music and sky rockets it to the next level.

“Red Wine”, is accompanied by a high energy video directed by Lianne Rose Richards that matches the electric energy of the single.

Following the success of Moving Out, the album explores love, loss, and self-discovery, marking a new level of depth in their songwriting and production. Formed in 2018 by Wyn Barnum, Ricky Dana, and James Fusco, Phoneboy started as three college friends making music in a scene with little space for indie rock. What began as campus shows soon turned into packed venues, millions of streams, and a reputation for high-energy performances. After years of playing alongside the band, longtime friend Jordan Torres officially joined on keys and vocals, bringing a fresh dynamic to their sound.

Produced in Brooklyn with Ayad Al Adhamy, Heartbreak Designer builds on the band’s hook-driven style while experimenting with new textures and influences.

We have “Red Wine” , locked on repeat and we can’t wait for more .

Four Faces Deliver Dynamic New Single “Overnight”

Four Faces, is kicking off a series of releases for 2025. As the second track from their upcoming debut EP, ‘Overnight’ builds on the momentum of their late 2024 release, ‘Part Of You’, showcasing the band’s evolving alt-rock sound. ‘Overnight’ captures the signature energy of Four Faces 4-piece line-up while pushing their sonic boundaries with elements of modern pop production and explores the push and pull dynamic of two individuals navigating their relationship.

Four Faces – credit – Eoin Butterfield

Daniel Ffrench mentions that –
Overnight in its earliest form has been an idea that we have played around with for many years. It all began when I introduced the main riff that is heard throughout the track, which we always jokingly referred to as our ‘Swedish House Mafia Riff’ because of  its offbeat and dance inspired vibe. It was only in the last year that the song finally began to take shape, evolving into a fully realized song. It has quickly become a favourite  for both us and our audience, due to its powerful energy and danceability”

The song was recorded and engineered at The Clinic Recording Studio by Cian Synnott and David Anthony Curley and mixed and mastered by Aidan Cunningham.

We were absolutely mesmerized by the melody on “Overnight” from Four Faces. Pristine vocals energize a well crafted song that makes you want to tap along and move your feet.

Do your music loving heart and soul a favor and check out “Overnight” From Four Faces

Nude #9 From Camille Schmidt Is One Record You Absolutely Need In Your Life.

Ever since we first heard “XOXO” , from Camille Schmidt, back in November, we were instantly hooked. Our appreciation grew in December, with the release with equally impressive single, “Stanley”

We now have been given the gift of “Nude #9” , the debut album from by Brooklyn- based indie rock meets folk pop singer/songwriter Camille Schmidt, and it is every we imagined and more.

You can listen to “Nude#9” Here .

The ten track collection is a series of revealing and personal portraits—of herself, her family, and former and future lovers. Seamlessly blending the sounds of synth-pop, folk, indie rock and punk, Schmidt’s debut album is a rapturous portrait of a songwriter realizing her full potential.

From start to finish Nude #9, from Camille Schmidt, is an absolute indie masterpiece. Every song is a beautifully crafted music composition that speaks to the mind the heart and soul.

In addition to the two spectacular singles, “XOXO “ and “Stanley” we enjoyed stand out tracks , “Fish Pills” , “Blood Love & Blessings” and “Heaven” . With a collection of such good songs it is impossible to pick a favorite but, the one track that really stood out to us was “Cult In Denver “, it is one of those songs that you become immediately attached to , featuring a hauntingly beautiful melody and perfectly placed vocals … it is a can’t miss.

You can check out the video for “Cult In Denver” below.

The songs that would become Nude #9 began to take shape last December. Working with LA-based producer Ben Zaidi, Schmidt would write at least a song a week; by the end of a few months, she had quickly amassed over 45 new songs. But realizing these songs in the studio was a new process for Schmidt, who recorded Good Person with a live band, “no headphones, and basically no overdubs,” she recalled. For Nude #9, she brought in a group of equally talented musicians—bass from frequent collaborator Eli Heath, sound sculpting from Michael Haldeman (Mk.gee), additional guitar from Sam Acchione (Alex G) and Jacob Drab (Allegra Krieger), and additional percussion from Kane Ritchotte and W. Alexander.

“A lot of these songs were written completely stream of consciousness,” she said of the album. Writing without self-editing was freeing, allowing thoughts to unspool before she had a chance to doubt her intuition. The result is an album that feels at once familiar and completely new at every turn.

Do yourself and go listen to “Nude #9” from Camille Schmidt, you will be absolutely delighted.

Camille Schmidt Delivers An Indie Rock Work Of Art With New Single, “Stanley”

We recently had the distinct honor to check out the new single “Stanley”, from queer Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter Camille Schmdt. You can listen to “Stanley” Here .

Ever since we heard “XOXO” from Camille Schmidt last month, we have anxiously awaiting new music ….. Well we got what we wished for with her smoking hot new single “Stanley”

Camille has crafted an absolutely indie rock gem with “Stanley “, which is loaded with red hot memorable guitar riffs that Camille weaves perfectly between a flawless vocal performance. Camille shares “I started thinking about my plane ride the night before. This woman in front of me had been texting a friend about her boyfriend, Stanley (who I later discovered was a few rows behind us). I was thinking about the loneliness you feel when you’re alone, but also the deeper loneliness when you’re with someone, and that person doesn’t fill the hole inside you the way you’d hoped. It was a time when I was searching for comfort in anything – overheard conversations, interactions with strangers, little jokes I would make to myself.”

“Stanley” is the latest track from her upcoming new album “Nude #9”

“Stanley” evokes an absurd and poignant image of a woman “going nowhere,” finding strange comfort in the oddballs who seem just as lost as her. Steeped in dream logic—“I walked the plank I mean I went to the bank/ I had a hot matcha and a heart attack”—the song reflects Schmidt’s keen balance of the insane and the quotidian, honed over years of writing fiction and a prior career in comedy television.

Camille Schmidt , is an artist with a message and a voice that needs to be heard , “Stanley” may be one of the best songs we have heard all year.

There is something absolutely divine about Andy Stochansky’s new single “God’s Tree” It’s a no frills song that is brimming with honesty and authenticity. We fell instantly for its simple yet memorable melody . Andy Stochansky who has work with Ani Difranco and The Goo Goo Dolls has an infectious sound that is impossible to resist.

The intimate and natural approach that is present on “God’s Tree, takes center stage on his upcoming album Poetry Of Birds [ENCI Records]. The title effectively speaks to the overarching theme.

It’s easy to be overwhelmed by the modern world,” he observes. “I love electronics as much as anybody else does, but I wanted to show some respect to nature. It can teach us everything we need. Poetry Of Birds is a reminder to look at the beauty of the simple things around us.”

Andy Stochansky is a refreshing artist with a refreshing sound, “God’s Tree” is a beautifully written song that can’t be missed.

Jon Chesbro Delivers Brilliantly Crafted New EP “Outta State Outta Mind”

We were beyond excited to check out the new EP “Outta State Outta Mind” from New England multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and producer Jon Chesbro. You can listen to the stellar EP “Outta State Outta Mind” on Spotify Here, Apple Music Here

Jon Chesbro is the true definition of an artist, he meticulously crafts melodic compositions that are not just songs but, are musical works of art and this is on full display on his latest work of art “Outta State Outta Mind”

Outta State Outta Mind, gives us a unique snapshot into the musical soul of Jon Chesbro. We got to hear and feel the guitar glow in Jon Chesbro on the summer single “Always & Forever” We were then treated to the expressive and experimental side of Jon Chesbro with last February’s album “Dryas”

“Outta State Outta Mind” has a real alt-rock feel . Inside the 5 tracks on “Outta State Outta Mind “ we get an upfront view of Jon Chesbro’s soul and it is magnificent.

Chesbro beautifully charts a course of inspiration across the country and back, touching down on specific moments and memories tethered to locations that led him far from home, returning to Maine, where he now resides, to complete the record.

“I feel like this EP has been two years in the making,” Chesbro says. “Not all on purpose, but through life’s ups and downs I feel like I’ve been granted this perspective that I can only tell through music. That perspective is through the lens of failure, success, heartbreak, friendship and everything in between. After receiving some of my own heartbreak and getting fed up with life, during Covid’s standstill, I decided to leave my hometown and look for something better. I gained new knowledge and experience. After traveling the country for a bit I found myself back home with my tail between my legs. I didn’t know which way was up, I just knew I had to do something.

We knew we were in for a treat from the first note of “Against The Crowd” and we were right . The melody of “Against The Crowd” Is the kind of thought provoking melody that stays with you long after the music has ended .

The vocals on “See You again” have this real really haunting quality to them, it really added another dimension to the song . We were also captivated by the drum sound on “See You again”

Every song on “Outta State Outta Mind “ possesses a beautiful rock and soul that you just can’t resist. The title track“Outta State Outta Mind” has a real bluesy / jazz tone to it that we absolutely love . Do yourself a favor and allow yourself to get lost in the magic of “Outta State Outta Mind “ from Jon Chesbro you will thank us later.

Crow Follow Deliver A Groovy Trip With “I’m In Love With You”

We recently had the extreme privilege to check out the new single “I’m In Love With You “ via Rock Garden Records from Boston based shaman rock and urban cabaret brigade Crow Follow .

You can listen to “I’m In Love With You “ on Spotify Here and on Bandcamp Here and on Apple Music Here

Listening to “I’m In Love With You” from Crow Follow feels like a groovtastic out of body experience which, we highly recommend.

The musical juices are overflowing on “I’m In Love With You “ as they have artfully added low-rock, post-punk, and art-rock vibes to give you a song that you won’t soon forget.

Crow Follow will bring their brilliant live show to The Jungle in Somerville on June 28 with Emily Grogan Band, Catwolf, and Galaxy Cake

Onstage is where seeds of Crow Follow’s latest smoke dance of a single were first planted, as the music that flows through them during live sets helped foster an intimate connection amongst the band members themselves and the audience in the room. Like a cherry bomb lit off a hot summer sidewalk, the rambunctious “I’m In Love With You” fires dueling guitar and saxophone lines, swirling in unbridled loving energy. Providing a magnetic low-end soundtrack for underground dance parties, it opens our hearts in a time of tension and chaos.

‘I’m In Love With You’ is about this vibe I get when we’re playing on stage,” says Crow Follow guitarist and vocalist Tim Sprague. “The music swells up out of me, but it’s not me. It’s something bigger using me to express this passion, this love. Everyone in the room was a collaborator, a co-conspirator when this song birthed itself on stage. That chorus of ‘You know / I’m in love with you’ comes from an authentic emotion. When the music is running through me I am in love with everyone in the room.”

‘I’m In Love With You’ is another statement of determination from a band that relentlessly promotes our drive to live and thrive,” asserts vocalist Agent Judy. “We will not be swayed from our deepest connections to the evolutionary source of our creative forces. That’s where it’s all at. It says that we can engage power from the carnal core to lofty ideals by engaging with love in all its forms. Art is the expression of that experience.”

Find your favorite music listening spot and get lost in the absolute fantastic vibes from Crow Follow and their latest “I’m In Love With You”

Joey Wit Just Released Your New Favorite song with “Point Of No Return”

We recently had the distinct honor to check out the new single “Point Of No Return “which is out via H1 Massive from Connecticut indie and alt-rock artist Joey Wit. You can listen to “Point Of No Return “ Here

In a musical landscape that at times can be somewhat mundane, it is so refreshing to find an artist like Joey Wit. We felt an instant connection to his smartly written infectious new single “Point Of No Return “

“Point Of No Return is introspective earworm, a magnetic song of wistful longing, paints a vivid portrait of a day spent alone in New York City, reminiscing on a lost love. “A Point of No Return” is a buoyant daydream of psych-pop bursts that push and pull, intertwining lyrical wordplay with glistening guitarwork that bridges a flirtatious gap between American and English influences.

Joey Witt comes across as relatable singer-songwriter who is a skill storyteller who carries a hint of intrigue and mystery in his music .

To understand where Wit is now is to understand where he’s come from; a professional baseball career cut short due to injury, an engagement abruptly called off, a life trajectory that has taken him around the country and back again. All of those things are mere footnotes in his story of the now. Delivering his lived-in lyrics with a barstool wisdom and the chords from his guitar with a confident, playful jangle, “A Point of No Return” is a magnetic song of wistful longing, about looking back in order to look forward – and that helps define Wit’s still-unfolding journey.

For anyone who’s been through that, they’ll know the range of emotions from the hope and excitement to the fear and anxiety of being vulnerable again,” he admits. “The chorus is quite literally me trying to express, or really just convince myself, that it was ok to feel these things again for someone and go ‘all in’ – even though it didn’t work out in the end.”

“A Point of No Return” was penned by Wit; produced, engineered, and mixed by Mick Connolly at Red Room Sound Studio in Torrington, Connecticut; and mastered by H1 Massive’s John Eye at Beach House Studios in Weymouth, Massachusetts. Appearing on the track alongside Wit, who in addition to vocals contributed acoustic and electric guitars, bass, and percussion, are  Matt Starr (drums), Mick Connolly (electric guitar, bass, backing vocals, and percussion), Clay Selmont (electric guitar), and Lucinda Rowe (backing vocals and piano). There’s a cohesion amongst the players that speaks to the dynamism and drive at play in the tune.

Joey Wit’s sophomore record “Rose Gold”. It’s a record due out in the fall on H1 Massive that includes contributions from 2015 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame guitarist Ricky Byrd (Joan Jett & The Blackhearts) and drummer Matt Starr (Ace Frehley, Mr. Big).

We are absolutely smitten with “Point Of No Return” and cannot wait for more from Joey Wit.

Artist Of The Day : February 8th 2024: Friendship Commanders

We are so excited to bring you our 3rd Artist Of The Day for 2024 – Nashville based indie rock duo Friendship Commanders, they have recently released epic concept record “Mass” .

We recently caught up with the duo ( Buick Adura, songwriter, vocalist and drummer/bassist Jerry Roe to talk about all things Friendship Commanders and of course all about “Mass” You can listen to “Mass” Here

The Whole Kameese: First off, we are so excited to get the chance to talk about your wonderful album “MASS.”

Buick Audra: Thank you so much! We appreciate you taking the time to talk about our new work!

The Whole Kameese: Can you introduce yourselves and your roles in the band?

Buick Audra: Hello, I’m Buick Audra, the vocalist, guitarist, and primary songwriter in Friendship Commanders.

Jerry Roe: Jerry Roe, and I play drums! I also play bass on our recordings.

The Whole Kameese: Your latest album “MASS” is a well-written and beautifully crafted body of work. Can you talk about the concept of the album?

Buick Audra: Thank you! The album is about my time as a teen and younger adult living in the Boston area. I had some experiences there during that timeframe that were intense and formative, but after I moved away from the area, I packed those memories up and put them away for a long time. When my friend Marc Orleans died, I started to remember my time there. He and I became friends when we were both part of the extended Boston music community and then we remained in touch after we both left. But his suicide took me right back to those days, and when I reviewed my experiences there through my current lens, they looked wild. So, I wrote a whole album about it. Ultimately, the record is about returning to what once almost took you down and being able to name the things that happened. Bullying, abuse, silence, complicity, loss, etc. I felt strongly about opening the album with BLUE because it has a message of hope, of survival, of living to tell. I think the thesis of the album is contained within the lyrical phrase, “If you don’t yet have the language for what you want to say, you will.”

The Whole Kameese: How was the writing process for “MASS”? Did it take a lot of time, or did it quickly come together?

Buick Audra: So, the first two songs I wrote for the record were A RETRACTION and FAIL, and they each unfolded kind of slowly, like over a couple of weeks. I tend to be a quick songwriter, usually completing a song in one sitting, so for it to take multiple days or weeks is uncommon. But those two songs took a while, and as they were coming to me, I became aware that I was writing about my time in Massachusetts. I leaned into that, and the rest of the album was written over a very short period of time. Less than two months total. The process involved a lot of listening to myself; remembering things I had long forgotten; grieving people, places, and things; and letting the music be whatever it wanted to be at first. Also, I tuned my guitars to four different tunings to give my ear some different options and not be stuck in riff or progression ruts. That benefited the writing process greatly.

The Whole Kameese: The album was recorded at God City in Salem, MA (which is right down the street from us) with Kurt Ballou. What was it like working with Kurt at God City in Salem?

Buick Audra: It was productive and fun! We had worked with Kurt as a mix engineer on several projects before we went up to Salem and tracked MASS with him, so we already had some professional and personal camaraderie. But the workflow was good, the vibe was easy, and we were thrilled with the results. He’s the dude.

Jerry Roe: Truly, it was fun, comfortable, and honestly very easy! He created an environment in which we could work with ease and challenged us in all the right ways. I greatly appreciated how much he cared about exploring tones and making sure we were getting all the sounds exactly right and how they should be. That doesn’t tend to happen all the time, and I feel like that’s one of the primary reasons why you’d ever want to record with someone else (versus doing it yourself). He’s the best at it, I think.

The Whole Kameese: Did the city of Salem influence the record at all?

Buick Audra: Not really, but it was a peaceful, safe place to make the record for sure. None of my history with Massachusetts took place in Salem, so it was a respite of sorts. Neutral ground. Loved it, can’t wait to return!

The Whole Kameese: For someone who has never heardFriendship Commanders, how would you describe your sound?

Buick Audra: I tend to say we make melodic heavy music, but if I were to put a finer point on it, I’d say it’s very heavy grunge with pop sensibilities and soulful vocals.

Jerry Roe: I guess I would say we’re sort of a sludgy doom grunge rock band with a big emphasis on songs and song structure.

The Whole Kameese: The album is accompanied by a memoir. Did the memoir come first or was it something that developed while recording?

Buick Audra: I wrote the album first, and then the memoir. The book is there to expand on the story contained within the music.Because the album is autobiographical, it seemed like a natural thing to go into more detail in prose. It was a lot of work to render both, but I’m so glad they exist as a set.

The Whole Kameese: How has it been playing the songs from “MASS” live? Is there a particular song that really stands out when playing live?

Buick Audra: I’ve loved playing the new work live; we toured for almost two months after the album came out last year, and it was so refreshing and empowering to perform the new songs I love all of them, but FAIL is intense for me to play because I wrote it about the death of my friend Marc. Musically, it’s a beast to pull off, but emotionally, it holds so much sentiment and truth for me. And every time we play it, I get to say, “For Marc Orleans.” Feels good to say his name. BLUE is a gift every night, no question.

Jerry Roe: BLUE really feels like an important stake in the ground, and a mission statement of sorts. We’ve been closing our shows with it, and it feels triumphant and heavy as hell all at the same time. Kind of like a big reward at the end of a 45-minute marathon. It’s wonderful to play.

The Whole Kameese: What is next for Friendship Commanders in 2024???

Buick Audra: We’re doing some more touring on MASS, we’re working on some new work that I’ve been writing, and we’re working toward getting the next body of songs together!

The Whole Kameese: Thank you so much for talking with us at The Whole Kameese, today. We hope that 2024 is an amazing year for Friendship Commanders.

Buick Audra: Thank you! Really appreciate your time and attention. Hope your year kicks ass
