Sergeant Thunderhoof Delivers Epic New Folklore Inspired Concept Album ‘The Ghost of Badon Hill’

Be Prepared To Be Absolutely Mystified By Sergeant Thunderhoof’s Sensational New Album “The Ghost Of Badon Hill” which, is out today. ( November 15th)

We recently had the opportunity to check out the amazing new folklore inspired concept album from rock five-piece Sergeant Thunderhoof, “The Ghost Of Badon Hill”

You can check out my new album on Spotify Here , Apple Music Here and on Bandcamp Here

Coming from the historical area of Somerset (UK) Sergeant Thunderhoof have yet again delved deep into local history, mythology and folklore to deliver their most focussed album to date. “The Ghost of Badon Hill” is a true conceptual piece, set in the 4th Century AD and positively charged with raw emotion and Arthurian mysticism. Recorded with Josh Gallop (who recently became an official member of the band) at Stage 2 Studios in Bath and mastered by Tony Reed (Mos Generator), their new LP sees the band exploring wider and more textured sonic landscapes, whilst conceptually delving into Somerset’s famous Battle of Badon.

We were literally hanging on every note and word on “The Ghost Of Badon Hill” Sergeant Thunderhoof have created an absolute masterpiece.

Discussing the lyrical themes explored throughout the album vocalist and lyricist Dan Flitcroft says: This new album feels to me like our most focussed and thoughtful release to date. In the past we’ve not had any limitations when it comes to song lengths and structures as we didn’t have a label calling the shots. But one thing that I knew was needed for this album was to set some boundaries. Foremost of which was the ability to get it onto two sides of vinyl, as opposed to us having to put most of our previous works onto double packages due to the sheer length of the songs.

“So, knowing that we only had 22 minutes or so per side to play with, it forced us to take the songs we had been jamming and sort the wheat from the chaff. Anything that felt unnecessary or superfluous was scrapped, with every moment on the record needing to justify its own place. I came across the theme for the album by sheer accident when out walking with my family. I had no idea that Bath was a possible location for a real-life battle between the Britons and invading Anglo Saxons, on what was known as Badon Hill. There are a few prominent hills in and around our city that have been suggested as possible locations, famously Peter Gabriel sang about Solsbury Hill many years ago, and that is such a special and romantic place to visit”.

Sergeant Thunderhoof does a brilliant job in bringing this epic tale to life . Highlighted by otherworldly vocals and spectacular melodies, “The Ghost Of Badon Hill “ is destined to become an instant classic.

From the breathtaking beginning of “Badon” , the memorable single “Blood Moon” and the mysteriously beautiful “Sentinel “- “The Ghost Of Badon Hill is an absolute can’t miss.

Buzz worthy News : Bumble Bee Radio Is Hosting First Ever Live Show Presenting Count Zero’s Album Release Party November 8th At Sonia In Cambridge And Celebrating Its 5th Anniversary In April 2025

Kristen Eck’s indie radio station presents Count Zero’s record release with Lovina Falls and Singer Mali at Sonia in Cambridge on Friday, November 8th

Ok , We realize that we have probably just wrote the longest headline in the history of the Whole Kameese but, it’s totally worth it.

BumbleBee Radio launched in 2020 as a pandemic project for founder and live host Kristen Eck, it quickly became a way for New England indie and alternative rock bands to get played on air, at any and all hours of the day, alongside more well-known and global acts. Now as the Beverly-based streaming radio station approaches its fifth anniversary in the spring, Eck is keeping its past, present, and future in mind.

Photo

But where the past involves looking back at how BumbleBee has evolved since the lockdown days, catering to a hungry audience eager to find a new alternative to the dusty old FM dial, and the future allows Eck to beam with pride over reaching the five-year milestone in the Boston area’s increasingly competitive digital radio landscape, it’s perhaps the present that is most exciting.

Kicking off a string of celebrations that extend into the spring, BumbleBee Radio first dips into the live show scene on November 8, presenting Count Zero’s Thought So album release party – the theatrical Boston art-rock band’s first new record in 13 years – at Sonia in Cambridge, the former location of T.T. The Bear’s Place. Joining Count Zero on the bill are two BumbleBee Radio mainstays in Lovina Falls, the elegant baroque-pop project from Mistle Thrush’s Valerie Forgione, and Singer Mali of avant-rock mainstays Jaggery.

“I am beyond excited to be working with these three exceptionally talented and creative artists,” says Eck, who spends her days as the WBZ News Radio helicopter reporter. “I don’t believe in doing anything small. I wanted our first official live event to be a musical tour-de-force. So attendees can expect grand, thought-provoking music in a dramatic setting – and hopefully a renewed sense of community in drawing old-school fans of Count Zero, Think Tree, Mistle Thrush, and Jaggery and giving them a night of some new music to remember.”

Not only has the Sonia show brought Eck’s passion for music full circle, but her live BumbleBee Brunch, airing every Friday from 10 a.m. to noon, also connects to her Cape Cod past, as WKKL simulcasts the show live each week.

We love everything about BumbleBee Radio and the amazing work that Kristen Eck does for the music community, and we can’t wait for the show at Sonia and to celebrate BumbleBee’s 5th anniversary in 2025

Be Sure to check out the Count Zero Thought So”record release party , November 8th at Sonia in Cambridge with Lovina Falls and singer Mali. You can get tickets Here and Bee sure to check out BumbleBee Radio Here

Mary Elle Delivers A Stunningly Beautiful And Emotional Single “Movie Ticket”

We recently had the privilege to check out the latest single “Movie Ticket” from Czech Republic based singer-songwriter Mary Elle

You can listen to “Movie Ticket” Here

You can also check out a live version of “Movie Ticket “ featuring Harrison below

Originally from Oklahoma, USA, Mary Elle first came into the music scene after a video of her singing at a school music festival was discovered online by musician and producer Gregory Darling. Sparking the beginning of a musical collaboration, Darling helped guide Mary Elle and at just 14 years old, they co-wrote her first single, “Movie Ticket.”

“Movie Ticket” from Mary Elle is an absolute gem of a song . Mary Elle delivers a powerful and emotionally charged performance that makes “Movie Ticket “ so memorable.

The emotion-fuelled track narrates a sudden yet anticipated break-up. Portraying a message of growing from grief and finding yourself even in the hardest of times, “Movie Ticket” emits a light-hearted, empowering and freeing sound. Mary Elle explains, “It relates to the narrative and how even though letting that person go was painful, it was needed in order for her to find a sense of freedom and find out that she’s the main character of her own story, not someone else’s.”

We were truly captivated by the delicate piano melody that floats gently alongside Mary Elle’s soft, soulful vocals. With a love for storytelling lyrics, every word captivates you, while twinkling synths and ethereal backing vocals cascade, resulting in an all-encompassing release.

“Movie Ticket” is the second single to be released from an upcoming EP due later this year.

Do yourself a favor and get lost in the beauty of “Movie Ticket” from Mary Elle.

Kobra Paige Weaves Brilliantly Beautiful New Single “Dreamer”

We recently had the opportunity to check out the stunning new single “Dreamer” from Canadian singer-songwriter Kobra Paige

You can listen to “Dreamer” Here

“Dreamer”, showcases Kobra’s open heart to the magic of a child’s mind… Kobra takes you on a journey with “Dreamer”, expressing how nurturing the purity and innocence within the children of this world symbiotically nurtures and creates healing of our own inner child.

Kobra wrote this song with her dear friend and collaborator Timo Somers. Timo is featured on several songs on her upcoming project. They met many years ago on a European tour and it’s been a great experience for Kobra to collaborate on her new music and share his versatility both as a guitarist and songwriter.

“Dreamer” has this mythical quality to it that is simply mesmerizing. We were hanging on every word and note from Kobra Paige .You definitely need to check it out. We can’t wait to see what Kobra Paige, does next.

Announcement: The Whole Kameese Is Going On Hiatus

We started The Whole Kameese back in 2020 as a way to keep busy during the pandemic. We are so lucky to have worked with so many wonderful artists, promoters and other music professionals. We were also so blessed to be able to share so much amazing music . We have made the difficult decision to put the blog on the back burner. At this time we need to focus on other important matters. Prepare To Be Amazed, ALT-ROCK BAND OBSERVE THE 93RD EXPLORES PARANORMAL AND EXISTENTIAL BOUNDARIES ON GROUNDBREAKING ALBUM “ETERNALISM”

We recently checked out the brand new record “ETERNALISM” from MECHANICSBURG, PA, based theatrical alt-rock duo Observe the 93rd.

Your ears can fall in love with “ETERNALISM” Here

One of the things that makes “ETERNALISM” so epic , music lovers from spanning My Chemical Romance’s early 2000s emo era to classic rock fans who seek music influenced by The Beatles’ White Album will find something to love amongst the varied tracklist

The piece combines vivacious theatrical rock and influences from rock n roll’s past icons with poignant lyrics exploring the depths of consciousness, the universe, and lifeforms beyond Earth.

Beyond the out-of-this-world themes, the band maintains their humanity with songs about loss, mental health, and the challenges of life. The band continues to weave masterful storytelling and thought-provoking philosophy into everything they do, with this album being their most ambitious themed record yet.

Eternalism is a theory that proposes that the past, present, and future are all equally real and all happening simultaneously. Subject matter revolving around this theory is the main thread of this album. We touch on ideas involving ghosts and how they could be glitches in the timeline, as well as UFO’s, which I suggest may be piloted by dead or future humans who are no longer tethered to linear time and as such can now travel across the entire expanse of existence freely. Ghosts and UFOs will also be the main visual aesthetic, as seen on the front cover art by Caitlyn Grabenstein (@cult.class) and the back cover art by Danielle Marshall (edit by Nate Baer). Mental health and depression are other prominent themes on this album, on display in songs like ‘Stick Around’ and ‘Who Will Find My Body?’. The creative process is therapy and that catharsis is the driving force behind our compulsion to create. Sonically, we scaled back the production and went for a more raw approach than our previous works. Throughout the recording process, our reference points were Nirvana’s In Utero, The Beatles’ White Album, and Joy Division’s Unknown Pleasures. This album feels haunted.” – Derek Henry, Observe The 93rd

Alternative rock band Observe The 93rd was voted the best rock band of 2021 by the Central Pennsylvania Music Awards and for good reason. The name, ‘Observe the 93rd,’ is a reference to the Observable Universe, which is 93 billion lightyears in diameter and constantly expanding, and a Da Vinci quote, “Observation is the key to understanding.” As time passes, more light is able to reach us and more of the universe is revealed to us. This sentiment poetically intertwines with their musical and personal mission statement to collect experiences that broaden our perspectives and allow us to better understand ourselves as time passes, just like the universe.

Each raw, visceral track is guided by feelings, experiences, failures, triumphs, suffering, joy, and any other abstract internal entity that yearns to be expressed through melody. With every Observe The 93rd release comes a new puzzle piece in their musical galaxy that is intertwined with easter eggs and secret hints that tie all of their releases into one expansive story about life. Vocalist/guitarist Derek Henry and drummer Dylan Zepp created more than just a band, it’s a universe for fans to dive into.

Observe The 93rd have given the universe and music lovers everywhere, an absolute gift in the form of their last masterpiece “ETERNALISM” Every track feels like an experience you soon won’t forget.

Girl With A Hawk Has Raised The Bar With Their Brilliant New EP “keep ‘er lit”

CD release party goes down December 8 at The Burren in Somerville

We were beyond honored to check out the new EP “keep ‘er lit” via Rum Bar Records from Boston based rock band Girl With A Hawk .

You can listen to “keep ‘er lit” on Spotify Here and on Apple Music Here

Our first introduction to Girl With A Hawk was back this past January when the band released the absolutely beautiful and heartfelt track “Same Stars” since then we have fallen deeply for the amazing brand of rock that Linda Viens and company bring to the table.

Featuring five tracks, including four prior singles, like last month’s “Feel Me,” the EP is a showcase for Girl with a Hawk’s engaging and infectious brand of rock and roll, which sometimes veers into new wave territory, other times into emotive guitar-pop, Americana, and modern rock. It’s a record of perseverance, and its title, keep ‘er lit, taken from an old Irish expression that loosely translates to “do not stop,” is a reflection of that attitude.

There is this genuine authenticity that seems to be woven deep in the musical DNA of Girl With A Hawk that, we absolutely love. What you get is real music that touches your heart and soul with each memorable note , all of which is front and center on “keep’er lit”

In our opinion “keep’er lit” is proof positive why Linda Viens has one of the best voices out there period. She sings with an energy and passion that is like no other voice in music today.

All the songs on the EP are about surviving the vagaries of fate as well as taking responsibility for choices made, etc., about the search for identity and wholeness (and in some cases; sobriety), and about finding some kind of peace and comfort through knowing one is not actually alone, even though in tough times, we can feel alone,” Viens says. “It’s also about the many ways we are connected to our loved ones, and rooting for them, even if separated in physical time and space. There are a lot of parallel themes with keep ‘er lit and Justine and the Unclean’s record, The Signal Light – addiction, depression, and surviving life’s tough losses and challenges.”

The experience has brought the band even closer together. In Girl with a Hawk, the singer-and-guitarist Viens is joined by keyboardist Richard Lamphear, drummer Nancy Delaney, and guitarist Dan Coughlin. Original bassist Lee Harrington, who appears on the record, has since been smoothly replaced by Daniel Bernfeld. Their shared chemistry is evident across keep ‘er lit – from the emotive draw of “Same Stars” to the pop-rock buoyancy of “The Romantic” to the new wave flair of “Feel Me.” Viens says despite it all, the writing and recording process for this record has been joyous, with the band coming together for the music they’re creating.

If You are a music lover, then you need to listen to “keep ‘er lit” from Girl With A Hawk , it is absolute work of art .

Right from jump… “Girl Of Your Dreams “ from Maddie Regent had us moving and shaking , our office suddenly felt like a dance club . The opening track “Buy Me A Drink”is such an electrifying dance track full of so much energy, that it could power a small town.

Throughout the amazing eight tracks on “Girl Of Your Dreams” you are taken on the ultimate electro-pop experience.

Maddie’s dreamy vocals dance atop driving electronic beats and glittery synths. She effortlessly balances heart-wrenching lyricism with uplifting pop melodies. The EP, which was produced by her boyfriend and close collaborator Cade Hoppe, includes 5 previously released singles and 3 brand new songs: Buy Her a Drink,”Prettiest Please,” and “Hiding Place”

Girl of your Dreams’ is about how bad love conditions you to believe you’re not worthy of good love… so you can’t help but ruin it,” says Maddie. “It’s a cycle of toxic relationships — both with others and yourself.”

“Prettiest Please” really shines a much deserved spotlight on Maddie’s incredible and flawless vocals- Bravo

Hailing from Toronto and now based in New York City, Maddie first started making music at the age of 12. As an introverted child, music became her tool to express herself and work through her anxieties, helping her to find power in her vulnerability. After years of honing her sound, she’s found the perfect balance between escapist pop bops and raw, honest songwriting.

“Girl Of My Dreams “ is one of those EP’s that were made to be on constant repeat. Standouts include “Butterflies “ , “Side FX “ (The lyrics on “Side FX “ are freaking brilliant “ )

When we do a review we like to pick our favorite track . However, Maddie has made it tough because, every song is so good. But, if we had to pick it would be “Hiding Place” We can’t quite put our finger on it but this song is magical. We love the arrangement on “Hiding Place “ the music is perfectly placed and really lets Maddie’s voice shine .

It’s always so fun to find an artist that reminds us why we love music so much, for us Maddie Regent is that artist and, “Girl Of Your Dreams” is the kind of EP you want to share with everyone you know.

Olive Louise Delivers A Phenomenally Well Crafted Gem With Her Latest Single “Special”

We recently had the amazing opportunity to check out the new single “Special” from New York based singer/storyteller Olive Louise .

You can listen to “Special” on Spotify Here and on Apple Music Here

Music is mostly an auditory experience, meaning it is mainly an experience that we hear. However, a really good song or a really good piece of music isn’t something you just hear .. The really good stuff the music and songs that we go back to again and again….. We feel those songs in our heart and in our soul.

“Special” from Olive Louise is no doubt one of those magical songs that you not only hear but, you feel it with your whole heart and soul.

“Special” feels personal , Olive Louise is a gifted and skilled songwriter and storyteller. Her delivery and vocal approach makes the listener feel an instant connection.

My father used to tell me, “you don’t paint apples red or flowers more vibrant” and that is always in the forefront of my mind. I don’t want my imperfections washed out. You can be soft and have grit.” Sporting a Victorian-like disheveled “au natural” look, her visual world is eerily nostalgic. “The events in my life have forced me through so many huge changes. I never could have seen my life going the way it has. It’s had a profound effect on what I resonate with. I understand not fitting in and moving around and trying to make sense of things without time to, and so that’s the imagery I’m drawn to and the music I write reflects my lived experience.”

Special” was written about an amalgamation of experiences where she felt nervous and out of place and had wished she could feel comfortable as herself rather than instantly wishing to leave. Olive confides, “I created this character in the song, this perfect person, that comes along, understands how I’m feeling, and says “let’s go look at the view” because that’s what I had almost always wished for in those times.”

We are absolutely enthralled with “Special” from Olive Louise and see what she does next.

rlyblonde Brings It To A Whole New Level With Latest Single And Video For “Your Angel”

We had the amazing opportunity to check out the new single/video for “Your Angel” from rlyblonde- the project of NYC-based multidisciplinary artist Carina Allen.

You can listen to “Your Angel” Here

We fell instantly for “Your Angel” from rlyblonde. “Your Angel” has this raw and authentic sound that is brimming with emotion. “Your Angel” is rlyblonde taking her sound to a whole new level.

As the saying goes, ‘hell hath no fury like a woman scorned,’ and rlyblonde proves that with her new single, “Your Angel.” It’s a cathartic release of anger packaged into an anthemic alt-rock banger.

“Creating music, for me, was always something fueled partially by anger; an anger at my life not being what I wanted, of being jealous of people around me, of feeling trapped or stuck,” she says. “So this song really sums up all of those angry, rebellious, teen feelings, while also tapping into something a bit darker— what it really feels like to have a trauma response to someone or something, and what to do with those complicated feelings.”

“Your Angel” is released with an accompanying visualizer that’s in-step with the song’s dark, brooding energy. The visualizer was produced by rlyblonde’s own production company, HOT CREATIVE (@rlyhotcreative). Handling the production and direction of all of her own videos, rlyblonde creates an all-encompassing visual world that compliments the music. “It’s one of the most important parts of the whole project,” she says.

You can check out the video for “Your Angel” below

After years of being the go-to photographer, videographer and creative director for New York’s favorite indie acts, rlyblonde stepped into the spotlight earlier this year with her debut EP, ‘Fantasy.’ The EP was met with praise by tastemakers like The Luna Collective, Unpublished Magazine, and Enfnts Terribles Magazine.

We have said it before and it bares repeating “rylblonde is a special artist, with a talent that doesn’t come along every day , we can’t wait to see what she does next …. We know it will be sensational. “

rlyblonde will be celebrating the release of “Your Angel” with a show at Gold Sounds in Brooklyn on November 29th. Tickets are available here.

JESSIE WAGNER (Lenny Kravitz, Chic, Duran Duran, Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul, etc.) Releases New Single “Are You Scared” (ft Scott Martin) And… It Is Otherworldly

We recently had the opportunity to check out the new single“Are You Scared “ from in-demand touring vocalist Jessie Wagner , who has shared stages with the likes of Lenny Kravitz, Chic, Duran Duran, Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul) and is the frontwoman for NYC rock/soul band Army of the Underdog. The single also features Scott Martin.

You can listen to “Are You Scared “ on Spotify Here and on Apple Music Here

She released her critically acclaimed debut solo album ‘Shoes Droppin’ in 2020. Via Wicked Cool Records

It’s been a long journey to center stage for Jessie Wagner. Having gained her greatest exposure to date by singing songs everyone knows the words to, on some of the world’s biggest stages, it’s only now, through sharing her own triumphs and pain, that the spotlight is shining directly on her at last.

Displaying an impressive range encompassing bluesy R&B, neo-soul, acoustic balladry and rock a la John Mayer’s more confessional side, Shoes maintained a unified sound rooted in ’60s and ’70s style production. The songs traced times of darkness and redemption for the Norfolk, Virginia native, now based in New York City, who also fronts the rock/soul band Army of the Underdog.

Recorded during downtime from the Little Steven world tour, ‘Shoes Droppin” was produced by drummer Dave Diamond (Bob Weir, Derek Trucks) with engineer Chris Laybourne, and featured co-writes with seasoned soul guitarist Sherrod Barnes (Beyoncé, Angie Stone, Ashanti, Whitney Houston, Roberta Flack and Queen Latifah)

Wagner will release her sophomore solo effort in 2024.

Jessie Wagner is a remarkable artist with an amazing vocal range and “Are You Scared” is phenomenal.

We Love Everything About My Octopus Mind And Their Magical Third Studio Album ‘Trying To Be Normal’

We are absolutely floating on top of the world because, today (November 3rd ) we finally get to check out the brilliant new third album “Trying To Be Normal” from Bristol’s (UK) experimental psych-rockers My Octopus Mind, released today, (November 3rd 2023 )to vinyl via Drongo Records.

You can listen to “Trying To Be Normal” on Spotify Here and on Apple Music Here and on Amazon Music Here

My Octopus Mind are a high-energy experimental psych-rock four-piece comprised of drums, guitar, vocals and heavily effected double bass. Since their conception in 2017, the band have developed a wild form of experimental rock, taking a tongue in cheek ride through post-punk swagger and dysfunction, wonky riffs, balkan rhythms and moments of haunting grace.

Their glorious Third album “Trying To Be Normal “ is a brilliant display of the magic and beauty of My Octopus Mind. “Trying To Be Normal” is one of those remarkable albums that touches your mind and soul.

Trying To Be Normal” was written socially distanced over the course of 2020 and 2021 in a 1920’s theater and recorded over 5 days with Jake Bright at Giant Wafer Studios in rural Wales with mastering from Shawn Joseph at Optimum Mastering (J Dilla, Portishead). Due to multiple lockdowns there was no pressure to gig, affording team Octopus the time and creative freedom to focus solely on the album, which took shape organically through epic (up to 12 hour) jam sessions. It’s a playful collection of fresh post-pandemic material that marks a turning point in the band’s sound. It’s powerful, silly and immediately danceable.

I came up with the title after a tongue in cheek discussion about making the structures of our songs a bit more approachable. Three or four minute bangers sort of thing. We maybe managed two. Things got out of hand, but the title is still true. We tried”, jokes drummer Oli Cocup.

The album comprises of short, sweet, hard hitting rock bangers, some slightly longer, condensed slabs of prog and post punk, with a cheeky ballad thrown in for good measure featuring vocals from Sang Froid’s Aisling Whiting.

Lyrically “Trying To Be Normal” deals with a lot of heavy subjects; heartbreak, the male identity fusing itself with FEM and rage at rape culture. It’s not without its lighter moments though with nonsensical roleplay as gamblers (High Rollers), thugs (Sabretooth Monkey) and completely inaccurate celebrity critique (Minor Celebrities).

Discussing the creation of the album, the band state: We spent many years making highly tangential, cerebral music. Soundscapes, non-linear song structures, non-repeating metre sequences. This is our best effort to calm down and hide all that cool indulgent stuff in the margins of the earworms. The writing and recording process was much more collaborative and spontaneous, arising from jams that were recorded and then pulled apart for songs to emerge.

Music is art and art is music , and My Octopus Mind have created an absolute musical masterpiece with “Trying To Be Normal “ Part Picasso Part Frank Zappa 100% brilliant.

Beauty,Grace And Gorgeous Melodies Are Over Flowing On The Debut EP “My Dreamworld “ From Lilac Haze

written by : Jay Kameese

We were absolutely blessed beyond belief to check out the stunning new debut EP “My Dreamworld “ from dream-pop artist Lilac Haze .

You can listen to “My Dreamworld” on Spotify Here and on Apple Music Here and on Amazon Music Here

Lilac Haze is the project name for Bath-based songwriter Katrina Swift. Greatly influenced by bands of the ‘80s/’90s, Swift draws inspiration from The Cure, All About Eve, Eva Cassidy and Fleetwood Mac, combining atmospheric and ethereal textures with a sense of nostalgic romance.

Formed in 2023, Lilac Haze’s debut double singles The Ghost That I Once Knew // Lilac Haze were released in March, championed by the likes of RTE, Music Daily and Noctis Magazine. August saw the release of her EP’s first single Daisy Girl, celebrated by Wonderland, Baby Step Magazine and Northern Transmission, receiving airplay from the likes of BBC Introducing and Islington Radio.

Lilac Haze’s debut EP My Dreamworld was co-produced with Calum Wotherspoon (Nightswimming) at Joe’s Garage in Bristol and mastered by Adam Ayan (Paul McCartney, Lana Del Ray, Carrie Underwood), with guitarist Dylan Osafo and drummer Callum Maloney collaborating throughout. The EP explores change, new beginnings, letting go of fear and living in the here and now.

The music of Lilac Haze is simply otherworldly. My Dreamworld” is a beautifully crafted EP that is brimming with beauty, grace and breathtaking melodies.

Discussing what she hoped to achieve with the EP, Katrina says: I wanted to create something that would transport the listener to another world where dreams and hopes don’t feel like a million miles away or unreachable, and to know that things can get better no matter how bleak the reality may seem.”

Ahead of the release of the EP came its title track My Dreamworld, released on September 29th 2023, a co-write and collaboration with All About Eve’s Julianne Regan.

Reflecting on the process and what inspired the single, Katrina explains: Even though we worked remotely, there was always close communication and so it was still a really warm way to work. Julianne created and recorded much of the instrumentation, and once I had my final vocals done, I sent them to her and she worked her magic with the mixing. I know we both feel it was a joy to collaborate with one another, and we’re excited that we’re continuing to create music together. This is a song that reflects a myriad of subconscious feelings and emotions that come alive in dreams, creating their own reality.”

We Found Your New Favorite Singer…. Her Name Is Kenzie Cait, And Her New EP “innocence “ Is Simply Spectacular

We recently had the phenomenal opportunity to check out Nashville based singer songwriter Kenzie Cait and her amazing new EP “innocence”

You can listen to “innocence” on Spotify Here and on Apple Music Here

We listen to a lot of music here at The Whole Kameese (we’re a music blog it’s what we do) but, every now and then we get stopped dead in our tracks from an artist who absolutely blows us away . Kenzie Cait is absolutely one of those artists.

Kenzie Cait makes the kind of music that prompts the listener to think, “How did she put what I’m feeling into words?” As a guitarist and writer who was told she began humming melodies before she could speak, music is truly embedded into Kenzie Cait’s DNA. With more and more people clamoring for music in the vein of Lizzy McAlpine, Olivia Rodrigo, and the blueprint of Taylor Swift, Kenzie has arrived just in time.

However,we think that while Kenzie Cait may have a similar sound like the artist above, We think she has a unique style and sound that is all her own .

She’s an artist who wants to reach people with her music however she can, whether it be through live shows or social media, and is making waves with recordings like the dreamy, urgent, and deeply honest “that girl” in the meantime

We fell head over heels for the EP, right from the first track which is brilliantly written title track “innocenceKenzie writes songs that you can’t help but connect with. On “that girl” we get a real feel for how stunning Kenzie’s voice really is

“innocence” is an Ep that is solid top to bottom. However, our favorite track on the EP is “the worst part “ this is Kenzie Cait at her absolute best .

Above all, Kenzie Cait wants people to feel heard: “When people listen to my music, I want them to know that dramatic emotions are okay, and that they should have grace with themselves. I hope they know it’s ok to react to moments in life in a natural way.” Kenzie Cait makes music to be shared, whether in the form of a live concert or a friend DMing a streaming link. Her music has a communal sense of understanding to it, paramount to Kenzie’s vision for her artistry going forward. She’s a fan’s fan through and through; she herself has spent her life loving those who inspire her. Now, she’s ready to step into the spotlight herself.

Do yourself and check out Kenzie Cait and her new EP “innocence “ it will make your heart and ears very happy.

Fake Dad Gives Us All The Feels With Their Extraordinary New EP “ Yerba Mala”

We recently got the fantastic opportunity to check out Los Angeles based bedroom synth pop duo Fake Dad (Andrea de Varona (she/her) and Josh Ford (he/him) The duo formed in 2020, the two met at a college party in the East Village and have been inseparable ever since. Melting their own unique artistic visions to build a shared sonic shorthand, Fake Dad create an intoxicating and colorful musical fusion complete with quirky synths, catchy pop-laden hooks and sun-soaked layered guitars. With a signature production sound and distinct vocal warmth, the two write and record expansive musical moments from their apartment.

You can listen to “Yerba Mala” on Spotify Here and on Apple Music Here .

What quickly grabs your attention about Fake Dad is that, although Andrea and Josh come from different musical backgrounds, they share a common goal: to create music that understands you.

“Yerba Mala from Fake Dad is a complete musical experience that makes you think and want to dance all at the same time

Yerba Mala, takes a deep dive into interpersonal relationship dynamics in an ever-changing world. In particular, the project explores frontperson Andrea de Varona’s nuanced relationship with a first-gen Latinx identity. Yerba Mala is a Spanish phrase that Andrea’s mother would use in gardening to describe the weeds and vines that needed to be removed so that new flowers could grow every season. “From friends to family to hometowns, these songs explore what it’s like to grow with (or apart from) other people in search of self-betterment. Sometimes relationships change. Sometimes they get stronger, and sometimes they have to be left behind in order for you to heal and grow into the version of you that was always there, waiting to bloom,” confides Andrea. The five-track EP is a genre-bending adventure of sound with elements of rock, pop, synth and electronic all colliding for an unforgettable listen.

We fell instantly for leading eading track “So Dramatic!”, is a bilingual English / Spanish song that lightheartedly teases melodrama and over-the-top theatrics. Brimming with an energetic, vibrant melody and playful multi-layered vocals, Andrea sings, “I’m so dramatic, actin’ like I’m drowning on the Titanic.” She further adds, “Having bilingual lyrics that are never fully in Spanish was very intentional because we’re trying to capture the identity and existing duality of being a Hispanic person in America who may have grown up speaking primarily one language at home but largely another in the outside world.”

We can neither confirm or deny if we sing “So Dramatic “ at the top of our lungs after we drop kids off to school in the morning.

We loved the pop vibe in Souvenir Store”, which demonstrates the band’s ability to create lush and sweeping avant garde pop filled with fresh harmonies. Chronicling inner struggles of fear and anxiety and the effort of always trying to cope, the single is a relatable narrative. With “FASHION GIRL”, Fake Dad crafts a hyper pop meets electronic rock track filled with a bass heavy driving beat and danceable rhythms. The song chronicles issues with body dysmorphia and the dark side of the fashion and entertainment industry, for an important narrative and contemplative listen.

“I Like the Beach” is a slow burning moody left-of-center pop track filled with soul-baring vocals, (seriously the vocals on this track are straight up phenomenal) intense crescendos of percussion, and haunting harmonics. Andrea sings all about desire and connection with an intense and emotional delivery, creating a web of tension that is as cathartic as it is intriguing. Finally, “Momento” draws the listener in with a washed-out riff, siren-like backup vocals, and shimmering iridescent sonics that feel warm and inviting. Sharing an experience of being fully immersed in a precious moment, the lyrics paint a vivid portrait of an intimate time and place.

We double dare you not to sing along with “Momento “ before it ends, it’s virtually impossible.

There is nothing more important to us here at The Whole Kameese then music that is both honest and authentic, Fake Dad do this and then some on “Yerba Mala”

The duo are open with their own struggles of battling anxiety, depression, and body dysmorphia, hoping their transparency will help others know they are not alone. With a unique musical perspective, and an unparalleled communal bond with their listeners.

Do yourself music loving heart a favor and check out “Yerba Mala” from Fake Dad .
