We recently got a chance to check out the stunning new single “Never Win” from S/J ( the solo project of folk/punk musician Seth Jude Richard featuring Liv Wallace, the singer of breakme!, who is also known for her countless acoustic punk covers which she shares on Instagram and Facebook.

S/J says, “Never win is a song about meeting love and the things we do to keep it, or sabotage it. Some feel maybe we don’t deserve love.”

S/J, Seth Jude Richard, is a south Louisiana boy who now lives in Florida. Growing up in a French rich culture, his grandfather introduced him to Cajun French music and acoustic music at a very young age. By the time he was 9, Seth would pick up a guitar and start to dream big. At the young age of 12, he entered the world of punk rock and started on what would be a long journey of touring and many experiences. Starting his own band, Layden and the Lion, (Little Rocket Records) he would record with Aaron Gillespie of Underoath, who would also produce and play drums on the record, The Lucky Ones. He also played bass for Ten Foot Pole on the Escalating Quickly Tour a few years ago. After Covid, Seth decided to embark on a solo journey to release his upcoming debut album, “Black Magnolias”. With a hectic touring schedule and raising two boys, he sees no end in sight.

Music is in our opinion the most beautiful and honest to express yourself. On “Never Win” featuring Liv Wallace from breakme! , S/J has crafted an emotional ballad that is simply breathtaking.

We think it is almost impossible not to totally love the new single “Lift Me Up” from Cadet Carter , the vibe and energy on the track is so electrifying.

The Munich-based band, fronted by Welsh lead singer Nick Sauter, has made quite an impact on the European music scene since starting out in late 2017. Their 2020 album Perceptions made it to #14 on the European Alternative Rock chart, and before the pandemic stopped all touring, the band played a ton of shows supporting artists like Touché Amoré, The Dangerous Summer, Stand Atlantic and As December Falls. In 2022, the band released another album entitled Anthems For The Weak to great reviews before embarking on their first-ever headline tour, playing highly successful shows throughout Europe and the UK.

CADET CARTER’s upcoming album Self-Maintenance, their first release with Austria-based Punk Rock label SBÄM Records, is a collection of songs bursting with catchy melodies, clever arrangements,and heartfelt lyrics. _“All these songs are like little odes to taking care of yourself and focusing on what’s good in life rather than letting the more gloomy side of your character win,“, says Nick.

Lead single LIFT ME UP is as catchy as they come while its lyrics are a not-so-gentle reminder to focus on the good, even if that means having to leave your comfort zone. STRANGERS deals with feelings of loneliness in relationships, and LET IT GO is the soundtrack to a new beginning. , “To Art Bell” is a noisy, fuzzed-out ruckus of a tune, and the latest from the band’s forthcoming 2024 EP The Red Angel,dedicated to the late radio host and raising a glass to simpler times,.

Clocking in at an economical 134 seconds, “To Art Bell” is a melodic statement of musical thunder

The upcoming EP is dedicated to the late Justine Covault, a staunch supporter of the duo whose label Red on Red Records previously released last year’s Roll The Dice album.

Canyons and Locusts were in the midst of recording the tracks on The Red Angel over the summer when Covault unexpectedly passed away. Left without a label home, Justin Keane (vocals and guitar) and Amy Young (drums and backing vocals) trudged forward, unleashing their new music with the guidance and enthusiasm Covault passed along before leaving us.

Picking up where October’s furious “Buck Dharma’s Eyes” left off, “To Art Bell” is a hazy fever of gritty alt-rock and Midwestern college rock that clocks in at just over two minutes in runtime. And it’s not lost on the band that this chaotic and noisy tune is inspired, in part, by a radio host whose timbre and cadence helped put listeners at ease.

“Somewhere in the late ‘90s when we were all scared of Y2K and the end of the world and there was just that energy – especially in NYC where Amy and I both lived at the time – I discovered Art Bell’s show and would usually listen to that late at night and on into the early AM,” says Keane. “It was this glorious mishmash of chupacabra and Bigfoot and reverse speech and exorcism and not anything like what we think of as ‘conspiracy theory’ today. And his voice was just perfect for the middle of the night.”

Young adds: “I got turned on to Art Bell back in my 20s when I was doing a lot of subcultural exploration and it was among the interesting landscapes to wander. What’s interesting to me is Justin and I having these same thoughts and it being something we never talked about.”

Vinyl Station has this real special almost otherworldly energy about them , and it is certainly present in their latest single “Here Comes Your Ghost “ which, is out today, (December 8th ) via H1 Massive.

For some, the “Ghost” in question could be the band’s past, as a handful of fan-favorite tunes comprise the quartet’s forthcoming EP Answer Slow, set for unveiling in Spring 2024. But it could also be something a bit more pure: A return to the sensation of hearing something truly great, the feeling we once had when we first heard the seminal bands and records that shaped us into the people we became.

Vinyl Station, with its arena-ready, cerebral indie rock that harkens back to the songwriting ambition and grandeur of the likes of U2, Coldplay, The National, Band of Horses, and other luminaries, is ready to take that next step into our hearts and playlists. When asked about “Same Kids”, Thomas Nicholas shared :

The cover art is just about showing the stretch of my career and even though 30 years have passed, I still feel like the same kid. Which I think is true for us all.

The person that pops in my head is my friend from Kindergarten, who recently passed away. We would see each other every 5 years or so, and each time it was like no time had passed. It honestly still feels like he isn’t gone.

The song was a concept that Taylor Carroll had an idea for. Just about writing a song that talked about how we all still feel the same since we were kids. The chord progression and tempo gave me instant nostalgia vibes, so I just started writing lyrics about things I remember from growing up. Mixed tapes, CDs, etc

We actually wrote this song a day before Blink182 dropped their title track for their new album. I remember thinking how weird is it that I haven’t written a slower ballad type song in forever and the day I do, Blink182 is too. It was very symbiotic. The main difference is that Blink’s song is about them and “Same Kids” is meant for everyone to get nostalgic about thieir own life and memories of growing up.”

Following up on the September release of their celebrated debut single ‘Safeword’, indie-rock four-piece The Bedside Morale return with new single ‘Bitter Things’ on December 1st, taken from their upcoming debut EP due in 2024.

The Beside Morale have a sound and vibe that will bring a smile to anyone who loves and appreciates incredible well crafted music.

What we love about The Bedside Morale is they have a bit of a throwback/ 80’s pop sound but, they are able to artfully make it their own unique sound (and frankly we absolutely love it)

‘Bitter Things’, was produced and mixed at Stage 2 Studios with Josh Gallop (Mother Vulture, Krooked Tongue, Phoxjaw) explores the themes of loneliness, deceptiveness and insecurity-led bad habits.

Describing how the song came together, the band explain: “Lyrically with this one we really wanted to draw on a more conversational style that a lot of our favourite musicians do so expertly. That expositional outline of the character of a man. This was the first time we’ve done any real character work in a song. That’s not to say there’s no real world grounding for this person but this man is more of a villain. He uses negativity as a way of manipulation, at some point in his life found that self pity got him what he wanted, and he’ll sink to the absolute depths just to use someone for his own personal gain. So this one’s for that guy. Or, in truth, the deeply insecure, messy reality of that man. We all see you and we all see what you’re doing.”

From the moment you hear the opening guitar part on “Bitter Things “ from The Bedside Morale you just know your in for a spectacular musical experience.

Music is mostly an auditory experience, meaning it is mainly an experience that we hear. However, a really good song or a really good piece of music isn’t something you just hear .. The really good stuff the music and songs that we go back to again and again….. We feel those songs in our heart and in our soul.

“Special” from Olive Louise is no doubt one of those magical songs that you not only hear but, you feel it with your whole heart and soul.

“Special” feels personal , Olive Louise is a gifted and skilled songwriter and storyteller. Her delivery and vocal approach makes the listener feel an instant connection.

My father used to tell me, “you don’t paint apples red or flowers more vibrant” and that is always in the forefront of my mind. I don’t want my imperfections washed out. You can be soft and have grit.” Sporting a Victorian-like disheveled “au natural” look, her visual world is eerily nostalgic. “The events in my life have forced me through so many huge changes. I never could have seen my life going the way it has. It’s had a profound effect on what I resonate with. I understand not fitting in and moving around and trying to make sense of things without time to, and so that’s the imagery I’m drawn to and the music I write reflects my lived experience.”

“Special” was written about an amalgamation of experiences where she felt nervous and out of place and had wished she could feel comfortable as herself rather than instantly wishing to leave. Olive confides, “I created this character in the song, this perfect person, that comes along, understands how I’m feeling, and says “let’s go look at the view” because that’s what I had almost always wished for in those times.”

Having focused on how the patriarchy principally harms women and marginalised genders in Sparkle’s opener “The Ladder”, this time around I needed to vent about the significant toll it also takes on men and boys”, explains West.

It’s been a long journey to center stage for Jessie Wagner. Having gained her greatest exposure to date by singing songs everyone knows the words to, on some of the world’s biggest stages, it’s only now, through sharing her own triumphs and pain, that the spotlight is shining directly on her at last.

Displaying an impressive range encompassing bluesy R&B, neo-soul, acoustic balladry and rock a la John Mayer’s more confessional side, Shoes maintained a unified sound rooted in ’60s and ’70s style production. “Silhouette” has this big cinematic presence about it that simply takes our breath away.

The instrumentation, the vocals….. Everything is perfect . On “Silhouette “ Earthquake Lights is a band who is firing on all cylinders.

We love that their latest single “Silhouette” is about the search for life, penning the question, “What’s the connection between music and space?” Lead singer Myles Rodenhouse shares, “The search for life can be within yourself, within your own world but it would also be within outer space. It can be feeling like you’re always by yourself, but you find out along the way that you’re not traveling alone. EQL is always learning to make music that can be specific to every person’s lens. It is not very literal to how exactly you should interpret this song, it can be seen differently through everyone’s own lens.”

We may be a tad bias when it comes to The Nervous Eaters ( seeing how we are from Boston ) But their latest single and video for “TALKK “ is absolutely wicked amazing .

Nervous Eaters— contemporaries of bands like the Ramones, The Police, Iggy Pop, and The Pretenders— give us the red hot single “Talkk” which comes on the heels of the band’s critically-lauded 2022 return full-length, ‘Monsters + Angels,’on Stevie Van Zandt’s Wicked Cool Records.

We are seriously starting to think these guys are actually getting younger with every new release they put out

Founding member and front man Steve Cataldo says “TALKK is very much along the lines of the NERVOUS EATERS song CHAD, heard on our “Wicked Cool LP – Monsters and Angels”. The narrative explains a boyfriend’s loss of contact with the love of his life. He desperately tries to find her. Endlessly looking through social media, constantly walking the city streets searching the old romantic places they used to hang out, unrelenting in his promise to find her. He finally pleads with all his friends, who knew them both as a couple, to pass on this message should they ever hear from her. “Please tell her I was wrong, that I have changed my ways, and if she comes back home, there will be a brand new man here for her to find”.

In the end, TALKK as with CHAD, despite all the boyfriend’s searching, he never finds her, thus he has to live with the endless regret of realizing, much too late, that each person’s idea of love is unique unto them. That physical love by itself is never enough. That listening, patience and unconditional caring is the “Real Love”, everyone is looking for. Everything else is just TALKK.”

Casii Stephan confides, “I believe this song is one of the greatest when it comes to best-written love songs. It’s also just not an easy song to cover. Part of me viewed this as a challenge to myself and the other part viewed it as a way to express my respect for what Leon did as a songwriter and musician. Recorded in one take (It was Take #4), it forced me to accept the performance with all its nuances just like the song describes the acceptance between the two lovers. It ain’t perfect and that’s the beauty of it.”

The first thing we couldn’t help but notice on “Girl In China Shop” is that it is lyrically brilliant. Caroline Romano effortlessly weaves in and out of song with perfectly placed words , that will literally take your breath away.

“I often feel like I break everything I touch. I’ve come to view myself as one major juxtaposition,” says Caroline. “One thing I’ve learned is that as life moves on, things get broken in the process. Whether it’s relationships, or my own heart, I’ve come to realize that it’s all too easy to shatter either one by my own hand. At times it’s left me feeling uncomfortable in my own skin and with my own footing. ‘girl in a china shop is my attempt at acknowledging that, in a way that summarizes the chaotic feeling that is navigating myself and other’s emotions.”

The band, comprised of four music scene veterans looking to create something new, takes its moniker from an imagined convergence of Boston and London, and its sound echoes the spirit, style, and vitality of both cities.

While the sound of The Magic City , may sound familiar, the band has a unique vibe and feel that is all their own .

“We want to find our people,” says vocalist David Jackel. “Like the community we had with the pill in Boston. I saw them come out to Radio City to see Pulp, the MET and the Orpheum to see Suede and Nick Cave, and they’ll all be at the Darker Waves festival in California. It’s that family tree of music culture that began with the Beatles and Stones, Bowie and Velvets, and then punk, post-punk, goth, new wave, Britpop. Angel Olsen channeling Serge Gainsbourg. Their random playlist could be Kate Bush, Bauhaus, Bat for Lashes, Pixies, and it would all make sense.”

The first in a wealth of new music set for release next year, “Roadrunner Vs. Your Mother” is a provocative debut offering, with roots that stretch from Britpop to post-punk to glam to classic alternative. It’s a seductive and suggestive invitation to what’s to come.

We recently had the privilege to check out “Feel Me” from Boston based band Girl With a Hawk . “Feel Me “ is dedicated Justine Covault, the late Red on Red Records founder and Boston music scene champion. Girl with a Hawk was previously signed to Red on Red, and “Feel Me” channels the raw emotion and sadness the band has felt since Covault passed away unexpectedly over the summer.

We love everything about Girl with a Hawk . We love their sound their vibe . We also love their passion which is front and center in their music, especially on “Feel Me”

We never had the pleasure of knowing Justine Covault However, based everything we have heard about her, she was a true pillar of the Boston music scene . Her music and her love for the Boston music will no doubt be her legacy that will continue to live on.

For Girl with a Hawk, the Boston band led by indie scene veteran Linda S. Viens, the past year has been highlighted by a blur of massive highs and the lowest of lows. It started in December of 2022, when the late Justine Covault asked Girl with a Hawk to join her emerging indie label Red on Red Records, releasing a new single and video for “Same Stars” a few short weeks later. We couldn’t help but be completely enthralled with Mutes and their stunning new musical composition “Mere Slaughter “ which, is our first taste of Mutes upcoming fourth studio album.

Originally conceived as a solo, primarily-ambient project by vocalist and lyricist James, Mutes released their eponymous debut EP in 2014. Things took a decidedly noisier turn with the release of Starvation Age in 2015, a full-band release that embraced the groups love of noise-rock and psychedelia. The group released their debut album No Desire in 2017 through independent label FOMA, celebrated by the likes of DIY Magazine and The Line of Best Fit.

Mere Slaughter is a three minute cacophony of dissonant no-wave guitar, anguished vocals and a balabouring rhythm section. The blistering track’s feral intensity serves as a raw reflection of a nation being slowly exenterated of possibility.

Recorded entirely live, the song is an evident display of the band’s desire to capture the uninhibited intensity of their performances.

Discussing what inspired the single, the band explain: “‘Mere Slaughter; was born from a need to write something ugly and dissonant – somewhat of a sonic exorcism. A lament for a society that is slowly eating itself by means of division and gaslighting.”

Mute’s artfully gives us an absolute gem with “Mere Slaughter” In a musical landscape that can have a lot of unneeded static, it is refreshing to know that we have a band like Mutes that are able to create pure sonic and melodic brilliance.

We are absolutely mesmerized by “Wake The Dead” from impressive indie duo Mighty One

Formed in 2020, Mighty One are songwriting duo Emma Kingston and Mark Stidson. The band blend 90’s inspired guitars and electronics, ambient soundscapes and emotive vocals which have earned them comparisons to Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The National and Phoebe Bridgers. Individually they’ve played alongside the likes of Johnny Marr, Bright Eyes and Alberta Cross and have recently supported both Tom Meighan and The Chesterfields at the prestigious Cheese and Grain in Frome.

Wake The Dead was co-produced by the band and Mercury Prize winning producer Rob Ellis (PJ Harvey, Placebo, Torres), engineered by Dom Monk (Big Thief, Laura Marling, Nick Cave), mixed by TJ Allen (Portishead, Anna Calvi, Bat For Lashes) and mastered by Guy Davie (Björk, Circa Waves, Foals).

Reflecting on the single the band state: “Wake The Dead centres itself around the notions of regret, and all of the emotions that come with it. Sharon Van Etten meets The National, it’s a bittersweet yet uplifting anthem.”

Lockyer Boys is the project of brothers Will and Charlie Lockyer

“Drive” from Other Brother Darryl is a timeless heartfelt track that gently touches both your mind and soul.

The message of the new single “Drive” is simple – even if we live in not so simple times: When you see your friends, tell them that you love them. Because we’ll never know when that last chance comes around.

It’s a sentiment the cosmic canyon rock group knows all too well, and one that swirls with impassioned honesty over its hypnotic new Americana single, “Drive,” set for release on Friday, November 10, with a music video to follow afterwards. It’s the second single from the ensemble band, led by Boston music scene veterans Dan Nicklin, Nate Leavitt, Dan Cedarholm, and one that continues to cherish and maintain the memory of their beloved friend and band member Dave Mirabella, who passed away unexpectedly in in the spring of last year.

“It has a laid- back feel, but still drives forward, which mirrors how the band works,” says Leavitt. “Move at your own pace but get there just the same. A motivational rhythm and tempo. Instrumentally, it covers a wide range of sounds that capture the cosmic canyon rock.”

There is this strong energy that is associated with “Drive” from Other Brother Darryl, It is often said that music can be a great healer of both wounds we can and can not see . We definitely feel this is the case with “Drive”

Other Brother Darryl, its name taken from a Newhart reference, was first conceptualized a decade ago at long-lost Somerville venue Radio, with its members bonding over The Jayhawks, Wilco, and the various projects each had been a part of over the many years spent in the trenches of a local music scene. But time was on their side, and after loose exchanges of ideas it would be seven years before the group began writing music together, crafting the harmony-driven, Americana-leaning sound that their spectral surroundings and sharp songwriting acumen were destined to produce.

Then Covid hit, and the world stood still. And in April 2021, the band’s world collapsed: Mirabella died, leaving an empty space within Other Brother Darryl both as musicians and friends. Suddenly, time, once a casual asset, became anything but, and a common refrain of telling friends and family how much we care for them became an important one.

While Other Brother Darryl captured Mirabella’s guitar parts for “Drive,” he was never able to provide vocals for the track. An important and disappointing turn of event for a band that leans into vocal harmonies so heavily. But remarkably, the band discovered that during one guitar recording session, Mirabella actually counted himself in, whispering “Six… seven… Dave.” That part was added to the very start of “Drive,” giving their late friend a voice that introduces and welcomes the listener.

“Drive” is truly a team effort. It was written by the core Other Brother Darryl team of Mirabella (guitar, count-in), Leavitt (guitars and vocals), Nicklin (vocals), and Cederholm (drums); produced by the band at Henley Row; and recorded and mixed by Nicklin at his aforementioned studio in Stoneham, with mastering by Brian Charles. It expands the Other Brother Darryl collective outward, featuring Jim Collins on bass and vocals; Dave Lieb on acoustic piano; Matt Odabashian on B3 organ; Paul Gallo on conga and percussion; and Jason Meeker on bongo and percussion.

Max McLellan has been releasing music under the moniker of Psychic Shakes since 2016. Inspired by the hypnotic vocal delivery of Elliott Smith, the punk mystique of Greg Sage, and the eccentric, melodically driven pop of Martin Newell, McLellan has created a genre hopping, era bending project in Psychic Shakes.

In 2022 McLellan and his partner discovered they were expecting, and with fatherhood approaching he began to re-evaluate ideation, creativity, and his identity as an artist in a post-covid landscape. Armed with a cheap guitar and a borrowed iMac with a cracked screen, he set about leaving a diary entry for his daughter- a view into her parent’s lives in the months leading up to her birth: Forever Now.

Jilted drums cutting through slinky, modulated acoustic guitars define the album’s penultimate track “Unfold You.” It is a reflection on romantic relationships, but ones that weren’t right. Highly personal lyrical themes touch on depression, loss of self, as well as a brief reference to McLellan’s struggles with Epilepsy. Arguably the most melancholy track on the album, references to a kind of emotional ‘aphasia‘ highlight the feelings of being caught in love for the wrong reasons.

In a letter McLellan wrote to his partner Maddy he described being around her as similar to ‘coming up for air’ after spending all day underwater, which was the inspiration for the opening lyrics of the song. “Unfold You” fades out of view with a sentimental swell of psychedelic reversed guitars, and romantic string arrangements; A final slow dance for two lovers who unlocked each other.

Vilar says, “‘We Talk A Lot’ is a song that dives into that feeling we all feel and have felt, when you’re falling in love with a friend, partner, life, etc… and you just want to take off on an adventure together and have it never end. It’s a wonderful place to be and hopefully, everyone has a chance to experience that at least once in their life. And if it hasn’t happened to you yet, it’s a glimpse into what it could be like and a way to look forward to the day it does happen. The song comes from a sincere place. I had so much fun illustrating and animating the lyric video for this song. I tapped into graphic skills that I hadn’t done in years, so it was truly a fun project from start to finish.”

Formed in 2000, in the suburbs of Glendale, California, they entered the LA scene when they were all teens. Go Betty Go is driven by Betty Cisneros’ big, roaring guitar, singer Nicolette Vilar’s soulful, siren call and the momentous urgency of Michelle Rangel’s bass and Aixa Vilar’s tumultuous drumming.

In 2022, Go Betty Go was hit yet again with their most difficult challenge to date. As the band prepared to enter the studio and record their next album, Betty was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer. The news was hard, but it brought them closer than ever.

They worked around Betty’s grueling doctor visits, chemotherapy, and surgeries, and when she was having her better days, they managed to squeeze out their latest studio recording “Black and Blue”.

There is this beautiful cinematic quality with “CTRL ALT DEL. The song has such a big and commanding sound , that we feel it would fit perfectly on the big screen. Parts Per Million are without question a band on the rise .

‘CTRL ALT DEL’ is about the rise of A.I. and where we all fit in as things change with that technology,” says Parts Per Million guitarist and vocalist Paul Mcsweeney. “It’s kind of a scary feeling to imagine being replaced in areas where we have always been needed. We’re on the cusp of a revolution that actually may hurt humanity as a whole if we don’t also rethink some of our social constructs and just put people out of jobs that may never return. That’s not even getting into the ultra scary idea of this thing sort of going full Skynet mode.”

The powerful“CTRL ALT DEL” was recorded at The Halo Studio in Portland, Maine, produced and mixed by the band’s longtime collaborator Kevin Billingslea (Lamb of God, Trivium, The Pretty Reckless), and mastered by Ted Jensen of Sterling Sound (The Eagles, Green Day, Norah Jones). Mcsweeney brought what he calls “riff salad” to the rest of the band – guitarist S. Brian Bailey; bassist Alex Marks; and former drummer Jake French, since replaced behind the kit by Brad Griffen – and the group worked together to flesh out the track, allowing for changes in the studio to develop it into its final form.

We recently had the opportunity to check out multi-faceted artist Faunea

Faunea comes from Danish, Peruvian, and Asian descent.

Faunea’s voice is simply otherworldly. It has been described as a delightful combination of lightly intimate yet with a surprisingly powerful dark side. Her sound is a playful universe, with an eerie electronic vibe. When her light and innocent voice occasionally breaks down in a dark and haunting feeling the contrast becomes clear, and she’s guiding the listener through the maze of a slightly manic character.

You may recognize her voice from the song “Sound Of Breaking “ which, was featured in the American Netflix series Tiny Pretty Things.

“Jellyfish” from Faunea is absolutely mesmerizing. We love the vibe and energy Faunea brings with this well crafted and well written gem.

Jellyfish” is a lyrical exploration of resilience and self-acceptance. Through its verses and chorus, the song conveys the message that Faunea has been labeled and judged by others as soft, lazy, or unintelligent, much like the perceived qualities of a Jellyfish. It is always a pleasure to listen to musicians who are top their game. Seth Glier proves without a doubt with his new single, “Mammoth” that he is at his very best.

“The song explores questions such as, “what if you were brought back to life and found yourself in a world you could no longer recognize?” and “What if you learned the reason you were resurrected was to save humanity?” Seth shares, “Scientists Sergey Zimov and Nikita Zimov are in the process of picking through the ice and melting permafrost of northern Siberia for the perfect frozen sample of a Woolly Mammoth. Their goal is to take the DNA and bring the mammoth back to the plains it once roamed. There is some merit to this idea as a climate solution. The Permafrost is one of the largest carbon reservoirs we have. In the grazing ecosystems, mammoths trample snow while foraging during the winter. When the snow is packed beneath their significant weight, it allows deeper freezing of the permafrost and thus protects it from degradation. I was struck by this and how strange it might feel for the mammoth & decided to write the song from its perspective.”

A gifted songwriter, is also a gifted storyteller as well , Seth Glier is both world class songwriter and storyteller.

We felt an immediate connection with “Mammoth” We were literally hanging on every note . Seth Glier has brilliantly crafted a song that gently tugs at your heart and soul.

Not only has Seth Glier given us a stunning song but he is also announcing today that his highly anticipated upcoming album “EVERYTHING” which is set for release January 26th. The eight track folk-drenched indie pop full length is a hopeful and important narrative entirely about climate solutions.

New York City guitarist, singer-songwriter Steve Conte is back– following the summer release of his single “Fourth Of July” (co-written with Andy Patridge of XTC)– with his latest track “Girl With No Name.”

Conte says, “This is a song of regret…about missed opportunity and lack of skills in meeting someone you’re attracted to.

“When putting my new album together, I was looking for songs that would fit nicely alongside the songs that Andy Partridge and I had written for it and I kept thinking of this one. I wrote it back in 1984 and never forgot it – which was a good sign.

Because it came to me so long ago I can’t exactly remember my process for writing it, except that since I was young & single at that time I was probably experiencing these kinds of situations & feelings on a daily basis!

Musically, I can hear what was influencing me back then; mid 60s Beatles, mid 80s XTC, and that beloved Motown groove from a certain Diana Ross & The Supremes song…”

A follow-up LP to Conte’s acclaimed 2021 solo album Bronx Cheer, is expected in early 2024 via Steven Van Zandt’s Wicked Cool Records.

Steve Conte is an absolute guitar legend known for his memorable guitar work as a member of New York Dolls, as well as former Hanoi Rocks frontman Michael Monroe’s band (with whom he still performs), Steve found international fame in recent years via his collaborations with Japanese composer and artist Yoko Kanno on the soundtracks to several hit anime series, including Cowboy Bebop.

We instantly fell for the well crafted and memorable “Girl With No Name” , from Steve Conte . We found ourselves humming and singing “Girl With No Name” everywhere we went whether it was the bank or the grocery store “Girl With No Name “ is song you won’t soon forget.

We were instantly hooked on “The Growler” right from the first note. “The Growler” is a well crafted gem that proves that you can rock out and have a blast doing .

We were absolutely mesmerized by the visuals in the video for “The Growler” from Smitt E. Smitty And The Fezztones . It had this creature double feature movie feel with a dash of sideshow/ carnival vibe thrown in for good measure, Absolutely perfect !

Friday October 13th is the absolute perfect day for the summer radio hit, which has become a fixture on Little Steven’s Underground Garage.

When asked about the amazing visual that is “The Growler” , Smitt E. Smitty commented

“I wanted to take the idea of living with ‘reckless abandon’ and add an old-time horror movie element to it. A genuine ‘growling’ protagonist. One-hundred percent Mr. Hyde without any Dr. Jekyll. Plus, we did a live show at The Met in Rhode Island, and I was able to use that footage to capture the energy of our performance for the song. When people come to our live shows, they are always blown away by the energy and passion we put forth. It’s that passion that is captured for this music video.”

The Growler” was recorded at New Alliance Audio in Somerville, engineered and co-produced by Alec Rodriguez, and mastered by Dave Stawecki.

The idea for Smitty’s latest barnstormer came to the multi-instrumentalist and songwriter while he was on a cross-country flight, flying to a gig at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado. The captain spoke over the intercom in a slow, deliberate drawl as he addressed passengers on the flight – “like an idling old motor car engine,” quips Smitty – and soon after, the seeds of “The Growler” were planted.

“I took the idea of ‘The Growler’ and crafted lyrics, using a more existential, and less specific mind set,” admits Smitty. “Who truly is… ‘The Growler’? The point of view I used was to imagine myself as a much more rough and tumble, devil may care, living in the moment type of creative. Charles Bukowski in a rock band. Full on untethered, unfiltered, and reckless abandon. Basically me, only hyper amplified to the nth degree. I may have used some past real life experiences and magnified them, for a greater effect. The song was really fun to write. I describe it as decadence on parade.”

We are just going to come right out and say it.. Derek Smith has crafted a stunningly brilliant work of musical greatness with his latest single “Black Angel”

“Black Angel” is a cinematic song that is quite simply otherworldly. Derek Smith has most definitely taken his amazing musical talents to a whole new level .

“I am talking directly to God in this song,” Smith says rather matter-of-factly. “Whatever the concept of God is. Real, fake, whatever. I am not flat-out saying what I believe. Though, I am sure people are smart enough to know what and how I feel.”

With its plugged-in, panoramic sound, “Black Angel” didn’t find a home on his two solo records. But it has become a bit of a staple of The Cosmic Vultures’ live sets, and because of its full-band sound, Smith knew the recorded version could be not only an extension of the Vultures, but the beginning of a process to merge the two entities together.

Written by Smith, “Black Angel” was mixed and produced by David Minehan at Woolly Mammoth Sound in Waltham, MA; and mastered by Dave Locke. Smith performs both lead and backing vocals, acoustic rhythm guitar and Hammond organ on the track, and he enlisted a trio of Vultures to round out the sound and give it a full-band feel.

Friend Of A Friend formed in the summer of 2020, after a lifetime just missing one another.

The band describes the process as an almost supernatural experience. FOAF’s debut album In Arms, an intimate blend of folk, post and art rock, recorded on tape in Nashville, was independently released in late May of 2022.

Since then, they’ve toured relentlessly throughout Europe and North America, and have gained over 2 million streams on their debut release. The duo is celebrated for their cinematic, fiercely experiential performance that incorporates a distorted Flamenco guitar, a midi controller and intense physicality. Lead vocalist and guitarst Phil L. says, “Little Sister is our first song in almost 3 years. It’s a song set to the backdrop of the 2021 COVID lockdowns and tells a very personal tale of loneliness, depression, and family. At a stage where helplessness had taken over and the end was near in my head, my little sister was there for me, took me in, and saved me in many ways. So the song is a tribute to her, to all those close to us who have been there when the days were dark, and a reminder that we don’t have to and should never suffer in silence.

From the get go, we wanted to get a guest vocalist on the track to in many ways represent my sister singing alongside me. We recorded this track at the incredible Ranch Studios, where Creeper have recorded in the past and we were lucky enough that Hannah heard the song, liked it and agreed to come on board. We’re huge fans, and it’s come out better than we could have imagined, so stoked to have made it happen.”

Paul Nourigat,is living proof that it is never too late to make music . Until five years ago was just a musical bystander. However, he picked up a guitar and five thoughtfully-themed albums later he hasn’t looked back. With steely determination and no formal musical training, Paul learned to play ukulele, guitar, sing, write songs, and produce.

We are absolutely loving his latest single “Bad Cards” .The song features Paul Brainard,Ji Tanner & his son Nick Nourigat on guitar.

At the heart of Paul’s songs is his life. Growing up, his family moved around internationally and nationally as a result of his father’s military career, and he lived in 12 homes by the time he graduated high school. This transient existence forced his sense of independence and mindfulness of the world around him. Just after high school, he survived a brutal and humbling motorcycle accident that claimed a few digits on his shattered hands, after which he discounted playing musical instruments. That is, until his wife of 40 years signed him up for a group ukulele session, which led to guitars, writing over 150 songs, and the rest is history.

“My songs speak to people who want to hear stories,” Paul says. He crafts each album with well-developed overarching themes, and each song features narratives with classic story arcs, including sweet resolutions. In the future, Paul plans to leverage his vast unpublished lyrical catalog for other artists, and license his works to film and stage productions. Outside of music, over the past decade Paul has been parlaying his literary gifts as a noted author, writing and publishing 10 books, which are distributed around the world, teaching kids, teens, and young adults about life essentials and financial topics. This year, the country of Canada selected one of his graphic novels for use in its ESL program for 50,000 teens for the next 7 years.

The single Bad Cards is a laidback folk rocker featuring hard-earned wisdom.

It’s a darkest-before-dawn type of song with inspiring lyrics such as: Sun comes up each morning/like a washing machine, /Fixes up our messes/ Helps us all get clean/It’s OK to get beaten down/then set yourself free/When I’m down, I remember, there’s a lotta folks worse off than me.

Paul says.“ “As one of my ten life lessons on this album, this song is about how we all get dealt bad cards,—life can really suck for all of us. Most happy people are not in a good place by chance, they get there through perseverance, hope, and perspective.”

At just 19 years old, she has developed a stark, diaristic writing style that captures the experience of being a teenage girl: navigating first loves, overcoming heartbreak, grappling with insecurity and comparison, and simultaneously never wanting the teenage dream to end. These themes are the heart of Kayla’s songwriting and storytelling, helping her create music that is both achingly relatable and memorable. Here’s what she had to say about it: “I wrote ‘See Through’about a relationship that ended right before we both went to college. It delves into that confusing feeling you experience when trying to move on from a person, where one moment it feels like you’ve fully healed and the next it feels like you’ve taken 10 steps backwards. At the time that I wrote the song, I was kept incredibly busy by the adjustment period that is starting college, and felt as if I’d healed from the breakup. The truth was, I had never really processed my heartbreak- and the healing I thought I’d felt was just the relief of being distracted. Writing ‘See Through ‘ was the first time I admitted to myself that I wasn’t as put together as I hoped to be. The result was a cathartic confession, and some of my most stark and relatable writing. Though I’ve come a long way in my healing since I wrote this song, I’m still really proud of what I was able to articulate then and hope the vulnerability I tapped into consoles listeners like it did for me

Pen Pin is the new music project from songwriters and multi-instrumentalists Jeni Magana and Emily Moore. The duo met on tour with Mitski and have created a DIY musical project with the two playing almost all of the instruments on the album and self-producing it as well.

“The Boredom” is a song about the perils of low levels of dopamine. Jeni confides, “I hope it serves as a reminder not to be too hard on ourselves when we find ourselves scrolling through our phones yet again, without knowing how we got there. “The Boredom” isn’t necessarily evil, but it’s a character that you might not always want around but seems to show up when you least expect it anyway.”

We think is next to impossible not to fall for this stunning new track. Surf rock drenched guitars underlay layered breezy melodies that extend that summer vibe just a little longer .

SOPHIE SHREDZ is the project of New Jersey-born, Nashville-based vocalist, songwriter, and guitarist Sophie Ruggiero. Lilac Haze is the project name for Bath-based songwriter Katrina Swift. Formed in 2023, Lilac Haze’s debut double singles The Ghost That I Once Knew // Lilac Haze were released in March, championed by the likes of RTE, Music Daily and Noctis Magazine. Recorded with Marc Macnab–Jack and Russell Marsden (Band of Skulls) at Mizpah Studios in Bath, On The Line blends high-octane guitars, hard-hitting drums and potent lyrical introspection to highlight the incredible highs and the bitter lows of life in a touring band.

Discussing the single, vocalist and lyricist Charlie Fitzgerald states: “‘On The Line’ was one of our favourite tunes to come out of a two month writing stint we did on a farm in Wales. The song is reflective of fast paced fun-filled city life. Working, weekends, doing shows, burning the candle at both ends and keeping up with everything. There are times when being in a band is just mental; you’re juggling so many things but kind of keep on going. Music is incredibly addictive to make and I think being a part of it can bring you the most incredible highs and also make you feel fucking terrible. There is a resilience and a true love in people that keep them invested and dedicating their lives to it. I’ve seen it more and more as I’ve got a bit older and I have nothing but admiration and respect for the people that stick with what they love.”

Taking the single live, the band have announced a 11 date UK tour kicking off on October 9th.

We fell instantly for the appropriately and very intentionally titled “All My Friends Are Dead” and “Watch Your Heart Break,” and both are fraught with the lived-in experience that brought them to this moment. It’s a moment of clarity, triumph, and progress, and for downtalker, featuring longtime friends, collaborators, and Massachusetts natives Darin Thompson (lead vocals, synth, bass, guitar), Justin Mantell (synth, guitar, bass, backing vocals), and Matt Freake (Drums, percussion, backing vocals). On Friday, September 22, downtalker make their live show debut, opening Fiddlehead’s record release party at Royale in Boston.

Both of these tracks, mixed by Juan Pieczanski (Small Black, Juan’s Basement) are upbeat in nature but serious in tone, as they lyrically explore the addiction and recovery experienced by downtalker’s Darin Thompson. Some music is so perfect that you can close your eyes and be taken on an amazing musical journey. We were absolutely captivated by The Bedside Morale, “Safeword” is the type of song that stays with you , even after the song has ended.

The band, made up of T, Charlie, Tim and Kynan, have been making music together since 2014. What was immediately apparent was that they’d found something special together, and the pursuit of this close band began in earnest.

Their debut single Safeword, produced and mixed at Stage 2 Studios with Josh Gallop (Mother Vulture, Krooked Tongue, Phoxjaw), explores the idea of escapism through nostalgia.

Discussing the inspirations behind the video, Kazer adds “Like most of my jokes, the fake blood ended up being a joke on myself and only myself. I got so swept up in making something that looked real that I forgot along the way that my mouth was the victim. The result was the most disgusting and disgusted I have been in my life. But it has come out looking great. Maybe too great at times. There’s some truly brutal imagery in there. But then its offset by a group of people having a great day. I think that’s what we wanted to represent. Humour in a horrible place. Kieran Gallop has done such an incredible job of creating exactly that, moments that make you smile and moments that make you wince. Anyway its great, the guys all gave stellar performances and i hope everyone dances away in their cars.”

Laced with brilliant melodies and flawless vocals, “Safeword “ is a song that will literally take your breath away . The Bedside Morale is a band that seems poised for greatness.

“It reflects on the comfort but also the denial that people find hiding behind the rose tinted lense of their youth. We had so much fun putting this song together with our producer Josh Gallop and there are some really special moments which came out of the spontaneity of those sessions. This marks the first single for us as a band and we feel it showcases our intention and solidifies our style. We have throughly enjoyed the previous singles “Birthday Cake” and “Norway” from Teen Idle and , we were anxiously awaiting the latest single “Saccharine”

The end-of-summer arrival of “Saccharine” aligns nicely with the track’s lyrical themes, which center around a relationship that’s starting to fade. “Saccharine” follows last month’s “Norway,” a song about being trapped in one’s hometown as an emerging adolescent and needing escape; and July’s “Birthday Cake,” where Abdelbarry watches a friend continue to make bad choices. Her latest offering glides with ease, surveying the fall of a doomed love while recalling contemporaries like Japanese Breakfast, HAIM, and Maggie Rogers.

It seems the layers of sweetness on “Saccharine “ are endless. We found ourselves absolutely mesmerized by the catchy melodies and beats that had us instantly hooked . In our opinion, “Saccharine “ in our opinion is exactly what the perfect indie-pop song should sound like. And… the absolute cherry on top of this sweet song is the amazing saxophone solo. We were so impressed by the saxophone which was brilliantly performed by New York City jazz saxophonist and Bjorkestra maestro Travis Sullivan, who through a magnetic sax performance brings a calm flair to the subtle yet dramatic track, enhancing its low-key dynamism.

“‘Saccharine’ is a song with a title that’s both sincere and sarcastic at the same time,” Abdelbarry says. “Call it a breakup song if you will – every album needs one – but the song reflects on a romance and the realization that things can start off pretty sweet but quickly turn sour if both people don’t put in the work to make a relationship last. The song chronicles the end of a relationship and the feelings of hurt, disrespect, and anger you can experience while still remembering the joyful moments.”

Already Dead Stand With The Workers With Their Stunning Punk Version Of “Bread And Roses “ Strike Song. Featuring: Felipe & AnnMarie Collazo

We recently had the excellent opportunity to check out Already Dead’s new single “Bread and Roses.” It’s a punk version of the classic 1912 hymn and poem dedicated to the women and children striking for better working conditions in the mill manufacturing city of Lawrence, Massachusetts. In the century since, it has existed as a sign of solidarity and strength with workers worldwide.

In addition to releasing the track today, (Friday, September 1st ) Already Dead will perform the song with collaborator Felipe Collazo at Lawrence’s Bread & Roses Heritage Festival on September 4th.

Already Dead are invested in everyone’s quality of life. Last year’s debut album My Collar Is Blue offered a raised glass to the working class, so it only makes sense that the Massachusetts punk band is standing in solidarity with citizens across the country with a fiery reboot of the classic strike song “Bread and Roses.”

Dedicated to the women and children striking for better working conditions in the Massachusetts mill manufacturing city, “Bread and Roses” was first born as a poem and strike song in 1912, written by James Oppenheim with its title taken from a speech given by American women’s suffrage activist Helen Todd. It has existed as a sign of solidarity and strength for the past century, and now is rebooted with proper punk rock fury as Already Dead teams with Bread and Roses festival producer Felipe Collazo on guest vocals, with the introductory verse provided by his sister, AnnMarie Collazo, a nod to the women who have stood on the frontlines for worker rights and equality for all.

Already Dead’s Dan Cummings has held the idea of giving “Bread and Roses” the punk-rock treatment for the past few years. But as working class issues dominate this summer’s news cycle, from the SAG-AFTRA strike in Hollywood to UPS workers strategically positioning for better wages, the time was right to ignite Already Dead’s take on the classic.

“It aligns with what I hope Already Dead projects as an ethos,” says Cummings, himself a Boston union pipefitter alongside Already Dead bassist and Boston union ironworker Brandon Bartlett. “And that’s standing up for yourself and for your fellow people and to fight for what is fair. In my opinion, there is evidence of that in all class struggles. I picked this song in particular because I have a personal tie to it – volunteering at the festival in the past – and also after learning about its significance. It is a song/poem that was a rally cry for a strike which is considered to be a real watershed moment in the Industrial Revolution and U.S. history.”

It should be noted we have never met Dan Cummings or anyone else from Already Dead , However, we too have a strong belief in fighting for what is right and just . So we are in full support of Already Dead and believe that their version of “Bread and Roses “ is pure punk rock perfection.

On the heals of Labor Day, we should stand tall and proud and crank Already Dead’s epic version of “Bread And Roses”

Good June is Alex Ilyadis, Justin Marion, Jina Moran, and Walker Bristol. Originally a solo project by Alex in the start of 2022, Good June grew to be a full band as it added in Jina and Walker near the end of the year, that has allowed them to begin tapping into the various styles of Emo and the surrounding genres. “It’s All About” is their first release with more music on the horizon.

Good June are a group of highly skilled musicians that play with a high level of emotion that shines brightly on “It’s All About” . We found ourselves tapping along almost instantly. “It’s All About “ is a well crafted song that features stunning melodies that were paired beautifully with flawless vocals.

Cameroonian Afro Futurist Pop Artist Moken Shines With New Single “Glory Days”

We recently had the opportunity to check out Atlanta based Cameroonian Afro Futurist / Avant Garde pop artist, Moken Nunga , and his new single and video for “Glory Days” .

We can honestly say we haven’t been this touched and moved by music in a long time.

His stunning vocal lines dramatically vacillate between mournful falsetto tones and rich baritone singing all set against a musical bed of balmy acoustic-based Afro-pop, slinky grooves, and, sometimes, dissonant musical thematic overlay. His genre-defying songwriting pulls from Afrobeat, Makossa, West African palm-wine music, blues, jazz, rock n’ roll, American folk, EDM, and beyond. He’s influenced by Francis Bebey, Miriam Makeba, Nina Simone, Fela Kuti, Bob Dylan, Van Morrison, James Brown, and Nat “King” Cole.

He is a polymath creative, and in addition to being a singer-songwriter, Moken is an accomplished visual artist, dancer, writer, fashion designer, and poet. As a talented teen, he had his own art studio, and he fell into playing music naturally, sitting in with nearby street musicians playing Bob Marley. “I would join them, making funny noises and mimicking Bob Marley. They encouraged me to keep going and explore music,” Moken recalls. Eventually, Moken did just that; he bought his own guitar and began figuring out how to play.

The single, Glory Days, shines with a gospel sense of hope. Moken’s soulfully weary vocals sing the opening lines: Tell me now/if glory days are gone/if we all work in vain/or time will heal the pain. And the song slowly unfolds with stately piano and folksy acoustic guitar supporting his richly expressive vocals. “Glory Days” dynamically builds up to feature a slowly soaring slide guitar melody with Moken’s fluttery vocals underneath gorgeously quivering. Lyrically, this song is a snapshot of Moken’s days struggling in Detroit trying to make ends meet, always rushing from a 9-to-5 painting job to a classroom. It’s a nostalgic and emotional song, and in it, Moken wonders where the hard work will lead him. “It presents a question to mankind: do we all work in vain, or will time heal the pain? This song is a prayer,” Moken says.

“Glory Days” will be featured on Moken’s third album An African Island in an American City. The 15-song record is an imaginative and purposeful collection of songs with a freewheeling melting-pot aesthetic that cements Moken’s artistic identity while it also showcases his versatility.

When asked about the upcoming album Moken shares: “I have always lived on an island of my own dreams, even back in Africa,” shares Moken “Today, I am experiencing island life in America, as I’ve been abandoned by many members of my family. If you can stay optimistic in adversity such as this, you can produce your best work. Out of isolation came the best songs of my career.”

We have been reviewing music in one form or another for 30 years, We can honestly say that “Glory Days “ from Moken, truly took our breath away . If you love music, this is one experience you can’t miss.

Pen Pin Deliver Absolute Perfection With Latest Single “Fringe”

We recently had the amazing opportunity to check out indie pop duo Pen Pin and their latest single, “Fringe” .

Pen Pin is the new music project from songwriters and multi-instrumentalists Jeni Magana and Emily Moore. The duo met on tour with Mitski and have created a DIY musical project with the two playing almost all of the instruments on the album and self-producing it as well. Both are well known touring musicians with Emily Moore performing and touring alongside Taylor Swift, Dua Lipa, Fun and Gracie Abrams (opening up the TaylorSwift Era’s tour) and Jeni Magana performing alongside Mitski, Ella Vos and more.

So like we’ve said in the past, we get a lot of music to listen too. (We’re a music blog it’s what we do) Some of the music we get is really good, and some of it is outstanding. “Fringe” from Pen Pin would definitely be classified as Outstanding.

“Fringe” from Pen Pin is a beautifully crafted song with a beautiful melodies and flawless vocals.

“Fringe” details capturing a moment in a relationship that is pure joy and recalling that feeling when times get tough. The breezy track features golden-hued vocals, dreamy melodies and nostalgic piano, creating a warm and cathartic musical moment.

We can’t wait for the new LP “Pony Up” which , is set to be released spring 2024.

New Friends — comprised of players from all over Southern Ontario, lead singer Stefan Boulineau (Windsor), guitarist Cole Wilson (St. Thomas), keyboardist/lead writer Ayden Miller (Orillia), Conrad (Waterloo) and Drummer Nico Elias, (Guatemala)

The band has experienced quick success , L.A. management and a top booking agent.

The band went viral with the very first song they ever recorded, “Purple Candy,” in 2019, when they were practically strangers. Now at 8 million streams and counting, they released their new single “Sad Sugar” in July 2023. In 2021, New Friends won Slaight Music’s life-changing “It’s Your Shot” contest. The resulting EP, Camaro, was recorded with the $100,000 studio and promotion prize.

The band had already recorded with producer Brad Delson, Grammy-winning guitarist of Linkin Park, and after the “It’s Your Shot” win, they were able to work with even more outside producers including Finger Eleven drummer and Arnold Lanni protégé Steve Molella (Stuck On Planet Earth, Gus, Kayla Diamond), and TV/film composer Brian Rivlin. Let us start off by saying that “Rumblin’ Tummy” is one those songs that is impossible not to like. Once those drums started at the beginning we were instantly hooked.

Frontwoman Logan Hammon describes “Rumblin’ Tummy” as a song about “staying in love and getting butterflies in your stomach no matter how long it’s been.” Appropriately, “Rumblin’ Tummy” is a fresh re-imagining of a fan-favorite from 2019, “Tummy Rumblin.” Just as the song’s romance has lasted the years, Small Crush built off the old track while injecting a fresh perspective, creating an entirely new and delightful sonic experience. So tonight (August 16th) my daughter, along with her friend and my wife are venturing into Boston to see The Jonas Brothers

So being the music loving dad that I am, I decided to see who the opener for tonight’s show is …. That’s when I discovered Lawrence.

Lawrence is a soul-pop group founded by New York raised sibling duo Clyde and Gracie Lawrence, who have been writing and performing music since childhood.

Now, Lawrence, is an eight piece soul band that has released three studio albums, plus several live and acoustic records.

Discussing what inspired the single, Ed explains, “’Seeing people spit on the pavement, I’ve always thought it was such a futile act of rebellion. This led me to think about all the other ways we rebel or try and destroy our own paths in similarly pathetic ways. In this track I touch on my own previous relationships and how I have sabotaged my own journey through life. So, how do you spit on your pavement?”

Rage Funk

Brought to you by LA-based songwriter and producer Kanwal, Rage Funk is a representation of the meeting of rage, power and passion through music. Kanwal’s unique persona reflects his multi-cultural background, time spent wandering around the world, upbringing in New York, and his transition to LA, and his journey along the way—bonding with a more free sense of self.

“Rage funk is where all the unconventional, unsavory emotions and desires live. It where the raw, odd parts of our psyche get stuffed, beneath layers of constructed identity and social expectation. Kendrick Lamar’s TPAB is rage funk, but so is M.I.A’s arular, Beyonce’s Lemonade, and James Brown’s “Please Please Please”. Raw emotion manifests differently for everyone. For me, it’s about expressing the sides of myself that other people think are outlandish, or don’t fit together. Rage Funk is also about giving a voice to aggression that, for a long time, I didn’t feel comfortable acknowledging.”

Kanwal was born and raised in New York by an Indian/Sikh father and a Russian/Jewish mother. From an early age, he was exposed to a variety of genres including Sufi songs, Bhangra, classic rock, funk, and Hip Hop. His own sound explores the tension between these differing cultural influences, and brings in a rockstar-style edge. Distorted vocals meet dirty bass-lines and rugged, textured synths. His embodiment of rage funk blends funk, hip hop, pop, and rock.

Kanwal’s first studio single —”Tuggin’ Me Back”— is an inverted pop song about the struggle between expressing intense emotions and conforming to social expectations. It features funk drenched soundscapes, heightened melodies, and vibrant synths. Throughout the song, Kanwal sprinkles in oddball elements, like reversed electric guitar slides and realistic sound effects. The song is being distributed by AWAL.

Kanwal comments: “I wanted this one to feel like you’re listening to a radio pop song, but in ‘the upside down’. It’s a song on the edge, and to me it reflects the idea that we always live on the edge of our socially accepted selves.”

Following his debut studio single, Kanwal plans to release three more songs throughout the fall.

Each track is going to come with a visual and bring you further into the world of rage funk. This is just the beginning. My vision is to bring as many artists and music consumers as possible into this new genre.”

The Atom Age Deliver Electrifying New Single And Video

We absolutely love everything about The Atom Age, they have a vibe and sound that is so authentic and electric.

“It took a while for me to realize that you’re gonna drive yourself insane comparing other people’s success to your own. I think writing this song helped me figure that out,” said vocalist and guitarist Peter Niven about the track. The combination of electric vocals, fuzz-out riffs, and moody garage sludge gives the message a powerful base to stand on. The carefully-crafted catharsis that follows pays homage to the sound of decades past and establishes The Atom Age as garage-punk renaissance paragons.

The new single deftly displays The Atom Age’s songwriting prowesses and their meteoric energy. This is only reinforced in the music video where the band lets loose on a rooftop in between shots of Niven playing into the track’s criticism of the overly-serious and prescriptively boring. He dances for the camera, strikes a pose, and eventually finds himself donning a crown and royal mantle.

Peter Niven delivers raw, zealous vocals and guitar alongside guitarist Ryan Perras, drummer Tim Harman, saxophonist Brendan Frye, organist Fred Brott’s organ, and bassist Randy Moore. The sextet bring a groovy, brass-tinged perspective to rock and roll, resonant with sounds like The Hives, The Sonics, The Cramps, and Rocket From The Crypt.

It’s bands like 3LH that fuel our love affair for music . The intoxicating sound of 60’s surf mixed with punk and garage band vibes topped with an amazing guitar sound make 3LH a band you can’t afford to miss .

“Blue Collar Blues “ caught our attention immediately with a sound and style like nothing we’ve ever heard .

Frontman Rafa Heredia says, “This is a song about self reflection after having maybe a pint too many at your favorite divey hole in the wall, it’s a callback to tracks like “Alabama song (Whisky Bar)” by The Doors – the song lends itself to telling a fun twisted story while not taking itself too seriously.”

Elif Dame has one of those voice that once you hear it , it stays with you forever . Her sweet vocals combined with infectious beats from GANZ and hypnotic melodies make “Killing It” an absolute can’t miss

We are absolutely taken by pure beauty of the latest single“Killing It” which, specifically focuses on letting go and starting to feel the benefits of medication, all whilst having doubts about being on the precipice of another manic episode. Sonically, “Killing It” features warm, honey-soaked vocals, vibey beats from GANZ, and hypnotic melodies which create an all-encompassing atmosphere.

Elif Dame (meaning she who brings light) started practicing her creativity at a young age. Having her musical interests initially sparked by the likes of Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder and the gospel genre, it would greatly expand and shift through the realms of countless genres throughout the years. By writing her first songs to beat tapes of MF DOOM, J Dilla and Madlib and experimenting with different sounds, Dame gradually allowed her sound to develop into an eclectic form of alternative R&B through which she touches on topics such as her battles with depression and anxiety, insecure attachment and relationship issues, trauma, family drama and addiction.

After releasing a slew of singles from 2020 – 2021, it became clear to her that her lifelong battle against depression in combination with the pressure to consistently put out new work had taken away the joy she previously felt in releasing and thus decided to go on a long overdue self-care hiatus. In the year that followed, the artist committed herself to prioritizing her own mental health – all while documenting the process.

The result of that hiatus is her upcoming LP, Securely Detached. The release showcases the artist’s journey of learning to take back her own life, differentiate her own feelings from the feelings of her surroundings and also about learning to focus on herself instead of pre-occupying her mind with making other people happy and comfortable. Dame confides, “It’s about reframing my co-dependent relationships and about my time on the waitlist to get mental health care. It’s about the important process of learning what it means to put yourself first.”

The Ghost Inside Unleashes New Single And Video For “Earn It”

We are so excited because, today The Ghost Inside mark their return with a triumphant new single, “Earn It”, produced by Dan Braunstein (Spiritbox, Dayseeker).

Their first new release since 2020’s self-titled record, “Earn It” finds the metalcore heavyweights back with a vengeance. Ushering in urgent guitars and crushing drums, front man Jonathan Vigil shifts from brutal screams to clean vocals with ease. On the message behind the song he ruminates,

“Sometimes people think because of the social status or circumstances they’re born into, they’re entitled to greatness. Nothing worthwhile is ever gonna be handed to you. You gotta Earn It.”

So we get new music new video and…. the band is hitting the road in the US on July 15th they will embark on a co-headlining tour with Underoath, joined by We Came As Romans and Better Lovers as support.
