“‘Can We Talk?’ is the most personal project I’ve ever made,” says elijah. “It’s a collection of late night thoughts and real conversations—things I’ve said, things I wish I’d said, and things I’ll probably never say out loud. For me, it’s about the messy, beautiful parts of trying to connect with people and how easy it is to get lost in miscommunication. At the same time, I was chasing a sense of sonic maturity—finding comfort in letting songs breathe emotionally while still pulling listeners in with production that feels big, bold, and alive. This album feels like finally letting people sit in the room with me while I figure it all out.

We recently had the amazing opportunity to check out the new single, “Broken Promises”, from British multi-instrumentalist, producer, and singer-songwriter Luke Marzec. You can listen to “Broken Promises” Here

Any day we get to listen to the smooth sounds of Luke Marzec, it’s a good day. We were absolutely mesmerized by the otherworldly vocals from Luke Marzec, on “Broken Promises”

“‘Broken Promises’ is about new beginnings. It’s about jumping on a plane, going to the other side of the world, and starting afresh,” Luke Marzec explains about his luminous new single which blends raw reflection and hopeful renewal over warm analog textures and plaintive vocal.

The track feels both bright and cathartic and continues to build momentum for Marzec’s debut album, Something Good Out Of Nothing, set for release on August 18, 2025 via Swift Half Records. He adds, “And although I know that to confront the issues in your life – to learn from your mistakes and to live a better life – I know that that requires introspection and to work on yourself, and it’s a long and steady road, but there’s another part of me that thinks… Sometimes it might just be your surroundings. Maybe you can get bored. Maybe when you’re bored, you end up not living properly, and you end up making mistakes, and accidentally just being a slightly shitter version of yourself. But, if you live life with adventure… if you do jump on that plane, go to the other side of the world, experience a new place, and get excited by life again; maybe that really could be the catalyst that will get you to be excited about life, to smell the roses, and to take life by the horns, and ultimately become a better you. Life really is an adventure.”

The beautifully crafted , “Broken Promises”, from Luke Marzec, further cements the case that Luke Marzec, is a voice you need to pay attention to.

We Can Honestly Say That The Debut Album From The Far Out , “Greetings from The Far Out” , Was Love At First Listen

Artwork by Olivia and Ezra Lowe

We don’t know what we did to be so lucky but, we consider ourselves absolutely blessed to be able to check out the new album, “Greetings from The Far Out”, from rising Boston pop-funk collective, The Far Out. You can listen to “Greetings from The Far Out” on Spotify Here, Apple Music Here

If you have yet to experience the electrifying next level pop funk from The Far Out , you are clearly only vibing at 50 percent. The epic new album, “Greetings from The Far Out “ is the perfect way to get your vibe to 100 percent.

We triple dog dare you to find a weak link on “Greetings from The Far Out “ … trust us you won’t … not even close . Every single song is more drop dead perfect than last . Eight gems that you can let play on repeat for infinity.

Led by a quartet of charismatic singles, including February’sFunkadelic Gas” and May’sLaurel,” the eight-track record from the Boston funk-pop collective welcomes the listener into its blossoming community, where positive vibes and blissful motivation – and an initiation to escape the day’s doom and gloom – are soundtracked by the sextet’s infectious sonic cocktail.

Hard times make for great music,” says saxophonist and guitarist Colin Senechal. “You gotta put your frustration and pent-up energy somewhere. If it can be upbeat to help people find some hope, even better!

With this debut album, a spectrum of styles and sounds that blends together funk, pop, indie, R&B, soul, Yacht Rock, ‘70s AM gold, Motown, and whatever else filtered through The Far Out’s unique sense of forward-motion retro-cool, the “New Act of the Year” recipient at the 2024 New England Music Awards is ready to take things to the next level.

If you have been grooving to the singles , ( “Funkadelic Gas”, “Laurel”, “Packed To Go” and “See Red( You’re Dead” ) those are just the tip of the very funky iceberg.

Some of the other tunes that got us grooving, “Need A Win”, which is the absolute perfect song to kick off such a stellar album. “Lazy Lover” and “Putt Strut” If we were to pick our favorite on the record ( which is almost impossible to do ) we would without question choose, “Long Weekend “ ( the bass line is more decadent than any piece of chocolate we have ever had) “Long Weekend “ is straight up spectacular.

While the sound is varied and genre-hops from one beat to the next, a rare throughline across Greetings from The Far Out extends both in plain sight and lurking just below the aural surface. The record’s title and postcard artwork – as well as the stamp-themed art for the four singles, all designed by Olivia Lowe with design assistance from her brother Ezra Lowe – are a throwback to Bruce Springsteen’s 1973 debut Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J. And Lowe admits there are some overarching lyrical elements at play across the eight tracks, though it takes a dedicated listen to delve deep beyond the upbeat music.

We Are All In On The Magnificent New Single, “Laurel”, From The Far Out

We had the absolutely amazing opportunity, to check out the new single, “Laurel”, from Boston , based high-energy funk and soul-pop group , The Far Out. You can listen to “Laurel” Here

The Far Out, are one of those bands, that make us want scream “We Love Music! “Laurel” is a funky, soulful track that we fall deeper and deeper in love with every time we hear it.

The Far Out’s vibrant new retro-soul single “Laurel,” is the latest slice of high-energy funk-pop from the rising Boston sextet that hits the streams today, (Friday, May 30) . “Laurel” is the follow-up to February’s supercharged single “Funkadelic Gas,” and both infectious tracks will be featured on the “New Act of the Year” recipient at the 2024 New England Music Awards’ forthcoming debut album, set for release this summer.

Laurel,” with its Yacht Rock cool, charismatic swagger, and alluring sax n’ brass sass, also throws it back to the golden era of ‘70s songwriting with clever lyrical wordplay and charming innuendo, juxtaposing the music’s optimistic and upbeat nature with a heartbreak situation just bubbling under the surface.

Laurel’ is deceptively not a love song,” says lead vocalist Olivia Lowe. “It’s about continuing to see someone romantically despite knowing that it’s going nowhere, because they will never commit to being fully or exclusively with you. The chorus ‘rest on my Laurel’ is a play on words, where it’s just easier to stay with this person rather than make the effort to leave them.”

Lowe paints an unfulfilled picture in the lyrics that is deliberately opposed to the overall vibe of the song, which feels like the perfect summer bop to add to all our beach-going and care-free day playlists. But that’s also the point – something that feels sunny and warm on the surface may not be what it seems after a deeper dive into what’s really going on.

“I hope that when people hear it, they dance,” Lowe adds. “But I hope that when they listen more closely to the lyrics, they understand that it’s okay to get out once something stops being fun or isn’t right for them anymore. I was able to easily write this happy-sounding, confident song because I’m firmly on the other side of the exact situation it describes.”

And for Lowe, band life in The Far Out is a happy relationship as well – and that comes out in the effortless cool and creative chemistry displayed by the collective of close friends and multi-instrumentalists, rounded out on “Laurel” by core members Ellie Dolan (trumpet, backing vocals); Ryan Fremont-Smith (bass guitar, backing vocals); Drew Phillips (drums); Colin Senechal (tenor saxophone); and Henry Zagarella (keys, organ, backing vocals).

“Laurel” is a great balance of the sounds of the past mixed with a vibrant energy that points to the future.

Penned by Lowe, Zagarella, and Phillips, “Laurel” flexes what The Far Out does best – it cranks up the energy and creates its own mood through sheer infectiousness and positive vibes. “Laurel” was recorded with Fremont-Smith as engineer at FS Studios, with drums and mixing engineered by Sean McLaughlin at 37′ Productions. The track was mastered by Jeff Lipton at Peerless Mastering with assistant mastering by engineer Costanza Tini

“Laurel “ , from The Far Out, is a track that your ears must hear.

Ana Luna Offers Mesmerizing, Sultry New Single, “Dance In A Trance”

We recently had the amazing opportunity, to check out the new single, “Dance In A Trance”, from emerging singer and songwriter Ana Luna. You can listen to “Dance In A Trance” Here

We were immediately captivated by the smooth and flawless vocals from Ana Luna , “Dance In A Trance”, is an absolute gem.

“Dance in a Trance” , is an ethereal and introspective track that dives deep into the emotional aftershocks of a past relationship. Building on the momentum of earlier releases like “Oxytocin” and “Why Not,” the new single further showcases Ana’s eclectic, genre-blurring sound and distinctive artistic voice.

Guided by her hypnotic vocals and sweeping, cinematic production, “Dance in a Trance” explores how memory and identity shift in the aftermath of love. Through introspective lyrics like “a caged romance, I danced in a trance,” Ana captures the paradox of being trapped in something intense, even beautiful, that ultimately left both people feeling confined. It’s more than a breakup song; it’s an unflinching meditation on transformation, memory, and the quiet unraveling that often follows the end of a relationship.

People will interpret my songs however they want, but this one wasn’t about making anyone the bad guyit was very much about me,” she says. “I’d run into my ex and he wouldn’t even look at me. When we did lock eyes, the energy just felt… different. The line ‘a caged romance’ came from something he once said to a friend of ours about feeling ‘caged’ or trapped, which ironically, is how I felt too. It wasn’t toxic in the way we tend to define toxic nowbut maybe it was in its own way, just because of how intense it all was. This song lives in that duality of: either you’ve always been this person and I was blind, or remind me why I loved you so I don’t feel like an idiot.”

Born in Ukraine, raised in Paris, and now based in Los Angeles, Ana Luna is a natural-born storyteller whose music is as cinematic as it is emotionally raw. Though she’s always known she was destined to be an artist, Ana initially led with acting and kept her songwriting close to the chest. It wasn’t until college, after years of emotional growth and inner work, that she finally gave herself permission to stop overthinking and dive fully into music. Over time, she’s shaped a signature sound that moves effortlessly between dream pop, alt-rock, and moody ballads, creating songs that feel celestial, sultry, and reflective.

Ana Luna, has a style and sound that is simply breathtakingly beautiful. “Dance In A Trance” is a song that will dance within your soul long after the music has faded.

“Stone Cold.” A deeply personal ballad born from pain, self-reflection, and ultimately, healing, “Stone Cold” marks a pivotal moment in Jackson’s journey — both musically and emotionally.

Written in her bedroom in Bali, the song emerged in a late-night haze, the melody coming to life while she was, in her own words, “drunk and overwhelmed with feelings I had buried for years.” Originally laced with expletives, the track evolved into something more nuanced — a powerful, articulate reckoning with the past.

Stone Cold is about the marriage I had to walk away from — one where I experienced domestic abuse and completely lost myself trying to save someone who didn’t want to be saved,” Jackson shares. “It’s been five years since my divorce, and this is the first time I’ve truly unpacked what happened. Music gave me the space to confront the trauma head-on.”

The single explores the heartbreaking truth that love alone isn’t always enough — especially when only one person is fighting to keep the relationship alive. “No matter how much I wanted it to work, it was never meant to be,” she says. “This song helped me understand why I allowed someone to treat me that way — and why I’ll never allow it again.”

With her signature husky, soulful vocals and unflinching honesty, Sydney Jo Jackson delivers a song that will resonate with anyone who’s had to choose themselves over a love that hurt them. “Stone Cold” is more than a breakup song — it’s an anthem of survival.

“Stone Cold”, from Sydney Jo Jackson, is a powerful and important song that needs to be heard.

The Lael Project honors Mental Health Awareness Month with ‘Insidious’; the third posthumous single from Lael Summer, fostering open dialogue around mental health and suicide awareness

The topic and discussion of mental health awareness, is both important and necessary.

Today, (May 16th 2025) , in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, The Lael Project will release ‘Insidious’, via True Groove Records, the third posthumous single from New York soul/pop artist Lael Summer, whose deeply personal lyrics and powerhouse vocals drew early praise from publications such as EarMilk, The Big Takeover, Kings of A&R, PopDose and Soul Tracks before her tragic death by suicide at age 24. The song continues her legacy of encouraging open conversations about mental health, suicide and eating disorders.

In September 2024, writer and artist Marla Mase founded The Lael Project to pay tribute to her daughter’s life and music and to carry out Lael’s wish to ‘help just one person’ by fostering open discussions about suicide, eating disorders, depresson and other mental health challenges. Marla believes that the sharing of stories, music and experiences are a gateway to healing.

By sharing Lael’s story / our story (mental illness is a family ‘disease’), we hope it will give others the inspiration and courage to share their own. To let them know that they are not alone and that it is OK to open up, to speak and that there is no shame or judgement in what they are experiencing. There are billions of u out here ready to listen and to connect and that perhaps together we can pave a way towards healing. I am a firm believer in the power of storytelling. It is a path, I am sure, out of the darkness”, says Marla Mase.

Written and demoed on her iPhone just weeks before her death, Insidious‘ is an intimate and unflinching look inside Lael’s lifelong battle with depression, suicidality and eating disorders. The track, produced and mixed by Tomás Doncker and James Dellatacoma, features Lael’s raw vocal extracted from that original iPhone demo, now restored thanks to the advancement of recording technology. The result is an impassioned plea that sheds light on the pain and confusion that those with mental health illnesses endure.

You can listen to , “Insidious” on Spotify Here and on Apple Music Here

Discussing the creation of the single, Tomás Doncker says, “We built a track that supports Lael’s vision. She already had all of the lyrics when we started writing the tune, and the mysterious and darkly brooding atmosphere was already quite evident. Lael was surely no stranger to intens as far as her lyrical/melodic choices were concerned – always choosing to approach the subject matter of all her songs head on. Fearlessly.”

“Insidious”, has a beautiful soulful melody, that is coupled with a flawless vocal performance from Lael Summer

On her thoughts on the song’s subject matter Lael’s Mother Marla explains, “‘Insidious’ is not just a song, it’s a call for compassion and a mirror for the millions who struggle with the emotional instability and unreliability that comes with having a mental illness. I believe those struggling with mental health will see themselves in this song. You feel you have it under control and then suddenly you don’t. It’s back, full force. Lael would call this insidiousness ‘the murderer’ living in her brain. It helped her personify it, to understand that it was not ‘her’, it was the illness. One of the symptoms of mental illness is to isolate, to make you feel hopeless and defective, a burden, and this song is outing those lies. Lael was not afraid to sing about what she was dealing with, she needed to do it, to express all her fears. She was fearless in that way – brutally honest lyrics about her experiences. She did it for her survival and she did it with the hope that her story would help others recognise themselves, know that they aren’t alone and to seek help.

Noshows Delivers Phenomenal New EP, “Tightrope”

We recently had the breathtaking opportunity to check out the dazzling new EP, “Tightrope” from NYC , indie outfit, NOSHOWS . You can listen to “Tightrope” Here

Full disclosure: up until today we were unfamiliar with the absolutely stunning artistry that is NOSHOWS . ( We are truly sorry it took us this long to come to the party)

NYC’s Max Satow, professionally known as NOSHOWS, is finding a fascinating niche as a singer-songwriter and frontman by fusing explorations of the inner workings of the mind with a wildly eclectic blend of alt-rock, hip-hop, and funk.

From the moment we heard the opening melody on “Use To It” we were immediately captivated. The vocals and melodic tones are so perfect that they are a work of art worthy to be displayed at the finest museums .

NOSHOWS has gained a loyal fan base from its electrifying shows at NYC’s Gramercy Theatre, Mercury Lounge, Sofar Sounds residency, UK’s Great Escape Festival, and most recently, a run of Northeast tour dates with Brass Against.

The EP, artfully makes you not only move your feet but it also makes think, which goes along with Satow’s lifelong fascination with the chaos and psyche of the human mind, and his advocacy of such issues, has its roots in his family’s founding of The Jed Foundation, a non-profit that protects emotional health and prevents suicide for teens and young adults, giving them the skills and support they need to thrive. It was inspired by and named after the singer’s uncle, who took his own life.

Satow has created a mental health hub of his own with Magnify the Mind, a community whose mission is to educate and advocate for those who need emotional support. NOSHOWS Tightrope EP, co-produced/co-written with two-time Grammy winner Marc Swersky (Joe Cocker, Little Stranger) and mixed by Seth Von Paulus (Smashing Pumpkins, Linda Perry)

We found ourselves, especially drawn to the track, “Let Me Sleep” , flawless vocals coupled with a memorable melody , “Let Me Sleep” is an absolute smash hit.

The title track, “Tightrope” has a real dance/ disco feel . We have a feeling that “Tightrope” could be a future dance club staple.

The new EP, “Tightrope” from NOSHOWS, is an absolute musical triumph that you have to experience immediately.

Cameron began singing before the age of two, quickly discovering a passion for performing. Her childhood was filled with music, dance, and the stage. She was a member of the acclaimed Toronto Children’s Chorus, and played lead rolls in various high school musicals including Roxy Hart in ChicagoBelle in Beauty and the Beast, and Young Nala in The Lion King, to name a few.

“She’s Not Me,” is a sun-kissed pop banger produced by Nashville-based Josh Frigo, known for his mixes for Niall Horan and Fletcher. “She’s Not Me” tells the relatable story of unrequited love. The song feels like a diary, detailing the emotional journey of a love triangle. She shares, “I really wanted the feel of ‘She’s Not Me’ to contrast the instrumental with the lyrics. If you dive into the lyrics, it’s quite depressing, but it’s masked by a warm, upbeat instrumental. It’s kind of like how the lyrics say, ‘You have no clue how I feel, and I’d like to keep it that way.’ The friendship feels like a game of pretend in this situation.” The single entices with its colorful synths, lush guitars, and addictive chorus. Cameron’s magnetic vocals take center stage as she sings over colliding beats and breezy soundscapes.

We hanging on every word , from Cameron Sage From , We have a feeling she is just getting warmed up . We can’t to see what she does next.

We were absolutely blown away by the big beautiful sound of “I Can’t Get You Out Of My Mind “ from Luke Marzec . The big beautiful soulful sound on the track is absolutely breathtaking.

When asked to describe the sound , Luke shares “It’s a retro sound. It’s a vintage sound but with a twist,”

Taken from his debut album, Something Good Out Of Nothing which will be released in two parts – Side A (release date: March 28) and Side B (to be released in Summer 2025), the single seamlessly balances the spiky, angular verses – that hearken the jazzy R&B vibe of Amy Winehouse – with Marzec’s warm gruff vocals alongside dreamy, reflective choruses and is his most refined and confident work yet. It marks the first release from Swift Half Records, the newly established London-based label that has signed Marzec.

Written during a summer retreat in the woods, “I Can’t Get You Out of My Mind” explores the emotional turbulence of a breakup, opening with a captivating blend of swirling synth arpeggios, before dropping into a captivating groove that fuses funk, soul, and jazz. “We set up a makeshift studio in the woods—a marquee with speakers, a drum machine, and a fire pit. It was raw, intimate, and incredibly inspiring,” recalls Marzec. Inspired by standout tracks from Amy Winehouse’s Back To Black and Arctic Monkeys’ AM, Marzec’s gravelly vocals and sharp songwriting touch on the emotional complexities of loss and regret, guiding listeners through a soundscape of indecision and longing.

If you are looking for your next favorite song , look no further than “I Can’t Get You Out Of My Mind “ from Luke Marzec. It is absolutely amazingly brilliant.

Artist Of The Day January 11th: Jessica Doolan

The Whole Kameese:Hi Jessica, thank you so much for taking the time for chatting with us at The Whole Kameese

Jessica Doolan:Thank you for having me!

The Whole Kameese: Can you tell us when you started singing? Do you come from a musical family ?

Jessica Doolan: I started singing when I was about 3 or 4! My family are very musical. I have memories of jamming along to my dads guitar making up melodies and random lyrics. My brother plays the piano incredibly well, my mum sings and my dad plays nearly every instrument!

The Whole Kameese: If someone has never heard you sing before, how would you describe your singing style/sound ? .

Jessica Doolan:I would describe it as Soul-Pop. I grew up listening to artists like Nina Simone, Etta James and Amy Winehouse and I was facinated hearing how much passion was in their voices!

The Whole Kameese:

How old were you when you wrote your first song? Do you remember what it was called?

Jessica Doolan: I was 10 when I wrote my first full song. It was called ‘ Mise Sa Todhchai’ which means Dear Future Self in the Irish language. I wrote my first songs in Irish. I love the sound of the language being sung.

The Whole Kameese: If you could do a duet with anyone , who would it be and why?

Jessica Doolan: My dream duet would probably be Alicia Keys. She’s the coolest!

The Whole Kameese:We absolutely love your debut single “Stay Or Surrender “ Can you tell us the story behind the song?

Jessica Doolan:I wrote the song about my first ever heartbreak. It’s quite raw and honest and I knew I had to put it out the minute I wrote it. I was in a relationship that wasn’t very good for me and I didn’t know whether to stay or go. It felt like I could never escape the feeling of being lovesick & that the heartbreak would stay in my system forever. After I put the song out I got so many messages of people saying it resonated with them. It made me feel less alone!

The Whole Kameese: Coffee or Tea?

Jessica Doolan: I’m a tea girl! Nothing better than getting into your pajamas and making a cup of tea

The Whole Kameese: If you could play a show anywhere, where would that be and why ?

Jessica Doolan : I think playing Madison Square Garden is definitely at the top of my dream list! It’s such an iconic venue and so many of my inspirations have played there.

The Whole Kameese: What are artists are you currently listening to ?

Jessica Doolan: I’m listening to a lot of Sade, Sampha and Teddy Swims!

The Whole Kameese : If you could give one piece of advice to young musicians/singers who are just starting out , what would it be and why?

Jessica Doolan: I would say don’t be afraid of failing. It’s always daunting putting yourself out into the world and sharing your art but remember it’s your purpose and you should never let the doubts take over your mind. It’s all about the journey and I always think about a quote I read. It was ‘ The desire to succeed will never be more powerful than having the guts to fail’.

The Whole Kameese: What can we expect from Jessica Doolan in 2024?

Jessica Doolan: A lot more music & a lot more shows!!! I’m hoping to play my first ever headline show this year, I’m so excited.
