Ana Luna Releases Soulfully Sensational New Single, “Daddy’s Empire “

We recently had the distinct honor to check out the new single, “Daddy’s Empire “, from rising singer-songwriter Ana Luna. You can listen to “Daddy’s Empire “ Here

“Daddy’s Empire “, from Ana Luna, completely took our breath away. This track is rich with vintage-toned guitars, a melancholic piano arrangement, live drums, and a subtle undercurrent of trip-hop, “Daddy’s Empire” is one of the most instrumentally rich tracks on her forthcoming album. Ana’s signature haunting vocals and unflinching lyricism give the track its emotional weight as she explores the heartbreak of watching someone you love get in their own way.

“Daddy’s Empire” captures the ache of recognizing someone’s potential and the disappointment of realizing they’re not ready to rise to it. It’s not a song about resentment, but about the kind of burnout that comes from loving a “man child”—someone whose energy and emotional immaturity begin to quietly take a toll. Sometimes the red flags aren’t obvious, but the imbalance is there, and over time, it begins to erode the relationship.

Reflecting on the relationship that inspired the song, Ana shares: “There was no lack of love between us—but I saw patterns in him that came from immaturity. Not in the way he treated me, but in how he lived: he’d talk about big dreams but never pursue them, complain about toxic friends but stay stuck in the same dynamics, shut down instead of speaking up. I wanted so badly for him to be happy, to grow into who he could be. But he couldn’t see what needed to change, and I couldn’t make him see it. That’s where the heartbreak really lived. This song holds space for that frustration, but also for the truth that we were both still growing. There’s no villain here.”

Born in Ukraine, raised in Paris, and now based in Los Angeles, Ana Luna is a natural-born storyteller whose music feels both cinematic and emotionally unfiltered. After years of keeping her songwriting private while pursuing acting, she fully embraced music in college, developing a sound that fuses dream pop, alt-rock, and moody ballads into something sultry, celestial, and deeply personal. Through her songs, Ana processes emotional wounds, explores human behavior, and invites healing.

Ana Luna has a unique and otherworldly vibe and sound that is needed in today’s somewhat mundane musical landscape. “Daddy’s Empire”, from Ana Luna, feels like we are witnessing an artist who is one the verge of something very special.

Both “Daddy’s Empire” and her recent single “Dance in a Trance” will appear on her forthcoming debut album.

Lovina Falls Have Reached The Top Of The Mountain, With Breathtaking New Single, “Light and Low”

Cover collage art by Lindsey Walker, www.artlwg.com

There is a pure and radiant glow that beautifully flows throughout the simply stunning new single “Light And Low” You can listen to “Light And Low” Here

Lovina Falls has a simple message for those seeking some kind of comfort in this unsteady, overwhelming, and uninspired 2025: “The world is blowing up, so find yourself and your people and move forward together, regardless, and in spite of, the chaos around.”

We couldn’t agree more …. Lovina Falls, the dark and whimsical dream-pop and art-rock project from Boston singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer Valerie Forgione, which returns to the streams with their first new music of 2025 in “Light and Low,” a rousing jaunt of electronic sounds, harpsichord, and dizzying propulsion that hits the streams on Friday, June 13. The track arrives before the official release party later that night, held at Deep Cuts in Medford alongside The Daylilies and RoseR

At its core, “Light and Low” relays an internal vision to keep moving, to push forward, and power through with a sense of community and compassion. It certainly does not hurt that one can dance to it.

“‘Light and Low’ is about recognizing that as time goes on, it’s ok to let go of old and ‘historic thinking’ to create a new path through and out of the Thicket of Now,” Forgione says. “It’s about knowing that when things change, the path is not predestined. Change the change. Move with conviction but head gracefully into the unknown, light and low.”

Light and Low” continues to position Lovina Falls as a collaborative project, where Forgione performs most of the instrumentation in the studio before it blossoms on stage with the live band. What began as a solo outlet to attempt a reconnection into her past as a path forward has now evolved and emerged into a full-fledged ensemble, playing shows routinely and emerging as one of Boston’s most dynamic live on-stage septets.

And live on stage, where the Lovina Falls sound truly emerges, the band swells to a consuming wall of sound and melody, featuring two other fellow Mistle Thrush members in guitarist Scott Patalano and bassist Matt Klain, and joined by Carrie Ingber on keys, Chuck Ferreira on drums, Brenden Cobb also on guitar, and Laura England Klain and Emily Drohan on vocals

On “Light and Low”, Forgione performs vocals, piano, harpsichord, keyboards, bass, and drum programming, and is joined by fellow Mistle Thrush bandmate and drummer Todd Demma, now of Chameleons, alongside Cobb on tremolo guitar and co-producer David Minehan on additional guitar.

There is something very important and worthy about “Light and Low”, from Lovina Falls, it is a much needed message that artfully cuts through the static and beautifully announces its importance.

Ghost On T.V. Delivers A Musical Triumph, Loud And Clear On New Album, “Mister Silence”

Designed by Paul DePasquale

We recently have stellar opportunity, to check out the new album, “Mister Silence “ , from Boston-based alternative project Ghost on TV

The creative greatness behind , Ghost On Tv, is beautifully crafted by songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer, Paul DePasquale . You can listen to “Mister Silence” on Here, Apple Music , Here

There is this beautiful sense of mystery wrapped delicately at the core of “Mister Silence” , from Ghost On T.V. , this sense of mystery and curiosity gives the album a whole new dimension.

The album’s artwork, a photograph of DePasquale and a friend, backs turned, walking through Tokyo’s back alleys in search of a hidden cocktail bar, with elements of bright new technology jostling with old-school decay, reflects a scene like something out of a dystopian film, drawing us deeper into this world.

It’s good to release art into the world,” says DePasquale, known to New England audiences for his work in celebrated alt-rock band Vary Lumar. “I have been making music and releasing it since 2001. Mister Silence feels like the result of many things re-aligning in my creative mindset and delivering something both raw and polished in more ways than just sonically.”

We felt so many emotions while listening to “Mister Silence“, from Ghost On TV , from the opening track , “Beckon” , all the way through to the closing track, “Mister Silence “ It was the one of the more memorable musical experiences we have had in quite some time.

With its seven bass-and-beat-driven tracks that skip across genre lines with ease, Mister Silence was recorded and mixed by longtime collaborator and co-conspirator Sean McLaughlin of 37’ Productions in Rockland, Massachusetts; and mastered by Jeff Lipton at Peerless Mastering in Boston with assistant mastering engineer Costanza Tinti.

DePasquale, brilliantly, explores many sounds and emotions on “Mister Silence “, the abrasive and confrontational “Crashonomics,” which finds DePasquale exploring glitched-out hip-hop bars. “Pictures Of Us” is perhaps the closest sonic composition to DePasquale’s past life in Vary Lumar, blending synth and rock elements, and the sweeping track plays out like a page ripped from his personal diary.

Mister Silence is all about growing older, being a bit wiser, reminiscing and learning from your past, staying true to oneself, taking liberties, while not being so damn aggressive about anything,” DePasquale says. “We live in a world where most people will wear emotions or show everything up front, looking for validation, and sometimes it is best to just be calm, quiet, thoughtful and reflective. Be silent until it makes sense not to be.”

One listen to, “Mister Silence “ and it is clear you are listening to a trip-hop , electro-pop work of musical excellence, this is definitely one you can’t afford to miss.

We had our breath taken away last fall when we heard the first single, “Tryouts For The Human Race,” Our amazement has only grown as we are absolutely over the moon for the title track, “The No.1 Song In Heaven

Chelsea Spear , does an extraordinary of honoring the art rock brilliance of Sparks, with , “The No.1 Song In Heaven” while illuminating the track by adding her own personal musical spark .

The original version of the song feels like a dance party at the end of the world, and the note for my version was that I wanted it to sound like a lullaby,” Spear says. “Releasing it as a single seemed like a good way of letting listeners know what to expect.”

the official music video, filmed at the historic Bellforge Arts Center in Massachusetts, surfaces on YouTube on February 13.

Spear and longtime collaborator Will Hall shot the “Number One Song In Heaven” video at Bellforge Arts Center in Medfield, the historic site of the former Medfield State Hospital that is now a blossoming creative arts hub.

No. 1 in Heaven Starring Travels With Brindle, made possible by a successful 2024 Kickstarter project, recorded at the Boston Public Library, and endorsed by WBUR, Boston’s NPR as one of the most anticipated Boston records of Winter 2025, is both faithful and unfaithful to the original.

There is nothing more beautiful than witnessing the creation of magnificent art, this is fully achieved with “The No.1 Song In Heaven” from Travels With Brindle.

KEG showcase a unique and fresh sound on Skybather that we were absolutely draw to right from the first note. “Skybather”, has a brilliantly bright and fluid melody and tone that is a refreshing change to the sometimes mundane musical landscape. Skybather’ sparks to mind lo-fi art-rock greats like Spoon, EELS and Cake, all while retaining the band’s signature British sound.

Commenting on the track, the band said: “One simply must bathe as much as possible. Cleanse the day’s woes in lavender and enter your mind palace. Canyons and Locusts Offer Up Perfection With Latest “Anna Save A Life”

We recently had the absolute honor to check out the new single “Anna Save A Life” from Boston and Phoenix melodic noise-rock duo, Canyons and Locusts. You can listen to the glorious new single “Anna Save A Life” Here

From the moment we heard the first note on “Anna Save A Life”, from Canyons and Locusts, we knew we were listening to pure melodic greatness. Everything about this song is drop dead perfect.

“Anna Save A Life” , is the first dose of new music from the Boston and Phoenix melodic noise-rock duo since March’s The Red Angel EP, a record dedicated to late Red on Red Records founder Justine Covault that earned mentions in Stereogum, Brooklyn Vegan, and elsewhere. And it’s the attention-grabbing inaugural blast from vocalist, guitarist, and bassist Justin Keane and drummer Amy Young’s forthcoming concept album, The Goal Gigolo, surfacing sometime in the early stages of 2025.

Courtesy Of The Band

To understand the unfolding world of The Goal Gigolo, a discordant, anti-hero record that draws together several storytelling narrators underneath Canyons and Locusts’ unhinged wall of fuzzed-out rock and roll, one must first embrace Anna. Even if our central eponymous character doesn’t quite understand who she may be or how she plays into this universe.

“Anna Save A Life” is a song from the vantage of a guy looking at the pit,” Keane says. “The line at the beginning of the song – ‘neon lights and empty nights, my disgrace’ – is the rosetta stone for this one. This album is the story of a pretty flawed protagonist, himself The Goal Gigolo, who’s made some bad decisions and has gotten himself into trouble trying to help people in his new location. He’s got to go through some shit to get back on his feet again, and he’s looking at that pit he’s about to jump into, but at that same time he’s got enough gallows humor to imagine writing a letter to someone named Anna who might very well save someone’s life – a life, not necessarily his.”

Produced by Keane and Ethan Dussault, and recorded and mixed by Dussault at New Alliance Studio in Somerville, MA, with mastering by Nick Zampiello at New Alliance East earlier this year, “Anna Save A Life” is a tale of desperation. It’s also the first Canyons and Locusts track to feature bass guitar, adding a low-end thunder to the band’s chaotic cacophony of sound.

There is beautiful fiber of kinetic energy that flows effortlessly throughout “Anna Save A Life” It’s a familiar and relatable feeling that lives within all of us and Canyons and Locusts beautifully and loudly bring it to life .

“thought so “ From Count zero Is A Brilliantly Captured Musical Moment

Designed By Will Ragano

We recently had stellar opportunity to check out the new album “thought so” from genre-straddling Boston alternative band , Count Zero. You can check out the otherworldly experience that is “thought so” Here .

“thought so “ from Count Zero is the band’s first taste of new music in 13 years, and it is absolutely glorious . “thought so “ is beautifully bold and grand, all the things we love about Count Zero. Not only do we get a new album with “thought so “ which is out today (Friday,November 8th ) but…. We are also getting a BumbleBee Radio Presents release party later tonight at Sonia in Cambridge.

Our music loving soul is absolutely blissfully overwhelmed with all the musical goodness packed in “thought so” ,from Count Zero

Our music has always been dense – occasionally one might argue too dense,” Peter Moore muses from his home studio. “Now we’re learning to trust sparseness and space more, trusting the hooks, the vibes, the grooves.”

The awaited follow-up to 2011’s Never Be Yourself, thought so finds Count Zero as its most assured, no small accomplishment given the confidence the band weaponized to swerve around most of the pitfalls and landmines of the Boston rock scene. And in a weird way, the dystopia of the world around us has finally caught up to the cacotopia weaved delicately within the Count Zero sound for so long.

Every song on “thought so” plays out like a show stopping theater production. We were mesmerized by the opening track “Never Be Alone” The artful use of sound , really made the track stand out. With so many different styles and vibes on “though so” it is next to impossible to be board . One track that really stood out for us is “You Were You Are” A well written track with a mysterious melody coupled with flawless vocals – Bravo

A new component in this fresh batch of Count Zero compositions is that while most lean on the traditional social observations and dystopian awareness, a few – “South,” “You Were You Are,” and inaugural offering “Overthinking” – serve as more introspective and autobiographical than Moore’s past efforts. Moore was always a performer’s performer, and his persona was never far behind.

There are songwriters that exclusively write autobiographically, but my default has been to fear that sharing The Real Me is burdensome on the listener,” he admits. “I usually get more traction embodying a persona, and finding myself in them. This is more of a Bowie thing. Probably didn’t hurt that when I toured with Blue Man Group we opened up for Bowie every night, and I got to see him from the side of the stage night after night. He channels characters, or personae, but they’re always a part of him.”

Great art hangs proudly in a museum. Great music is heard jolting out of speakers or coming to life on stage . “thought so” from Count Zero is not just a great album but is a true work of art.

Count Zero is:

Shawn Marquis: Drums, backing vocals

Will Ragano: Guitar, vocals

Jude Heichelbech: keys, vocals

Peter Moore: Vocals, guitar

Mike Corbett: Bass, backing vocals

It’s one of those special songs that grabs your soul and doesn’t let go . And… not only is “Slasher Movie Weather” a kick ass tune but there is also an amazing video as well. The video was directed by Glenn and his wife and creative partner Honey Pie.

You can check out the video below

The Final track on “To Be Or Not To Behave” is The Ballad of Felix Moncla (2024 Version)The song is an updated and fully realized version of a song
the band created and released remotely from quarantine during the early days of the
coronavirus pandemic. “Back in 2020, when we were unable to perform or even
assemble in a room together, we were intent on staying creative. As happy as we were
with the results of putting this one together from our respective home studios, it still
has the overall vibe of something recorded in isolation,” Glenn
explains. “Initially, there
was never any plan to re-record this one, but we found ourselves with some extra
studio time and our bass player Mike Leggio suggested we use the time to attempt an
updated version. It was an excellent suggestion on his part because Brian Charles
ended up giving the song the lush production value that it always deserved.”

The song is a brilliant way to close out a beyond stellar EP that shows a band who is a 1000% on top of their game . Do yourself a favor and check out “To Be Or Not To Behave” you will be beyond glad you did .

Maya Ixta Delivers A Beautifully Crafted And Personal New EP “Diary Entries “

We recently had the honor and privilege to check out the new EP “Diary Entries “ from singer, songwriter, and arts advocate Maya Ixta. You can listen to “Diary Entries “ on Spotify Here Apple Music Here

We were first introduced to Maya Ixta this past June with her single “Say Your Mine” (which, is included on “Diary Entries” )

After we heard “Say Your Mine” back in June, we remember being completely enchanted with the style and sound of Maya Ixta… Now that we have heard the rest of the songs on “Diary Entries “ we can honestly say we have fallen deeper in love with the original style and sound of Maya Ixta and it is on full display on “Diary Entries for all the world to hear and… it’s pure magic

The EP opens with the hauntingly beautiful intro ( we had absolute chills ) “First Entry”, an acapella track that sets the stage for the diary-inspired journey. Featuring Maya’s soulful vocals layered with harmonies, the song concludes with the evocative sound of paper tearing from her actual diary—a metaphor for the iterative process of songwriting and self-expression.

We thought that Maya absolutely shined on the EP’s lead single “Time” . On “Time” you really get to see the heart and soul of Maya Ixta’s artistry .  “Time,” marks the first bilingual song off the project. This track features a captivating guitar solo by Maya’s mentor and producer, Daniel Jimenez Alfandor, and evolves into a vibrant mix of instrumentation and Spanish-inspired rhythmic intricacies. With its poignant message about the importance of carving out time for oneself amid life’s demands, “Time” is both a call to live fully and a reminder to nurture mental well-being.

In “Little Things,” Maya reflects on the rapid pace of modern life, urging listeners to appreciate the simple, often overlooked moments. The song begins with whispered, almost oceanic vocals that slowly wash over warm harmonies. As she croons, “Little things are all I ever notice / and simple things are all I never focus on,” the instrumentation morphs. The distorted and chopped vocals warp and intensify before burning out into a sense of calm, fully embodying the song’s message of focusing on the positive to find a sense of peace in life.

Dedicated to her late grandfather, “Too Soon” explores themes of grief and acceptance. The piano-lead track is a poignant tribute to her Abuelito, who inspired her musical journey. Its somber, melancholy progressions get more ethereal as her emotive voice rises and falls with a sense of hopelessness. It’s the haunting simplicity of the track that truly drives home the painful message that she hopes will grant others solace as they navigate the difficult reality of grief. We really like the vocal approach on “Too Soon” it really added another dimension to the track .

Produced by Jimenez-Afanador, “someone is you” is a heartfelt tribute to Maya’s best friend, celebrating the beauty of those special bonds we experience once in a lifetime. The song begins with a tender acoustic sound, building to a powerful bridge with echoing and layered vocals, where she sings to the rafters, “no more searching / no more hurting / on my own.” It’s a stunning ode to those special people in your life who just get it.Someone Is You” is a stunningly beautiful song we feel for this brilliantly crafted song instantly- Bravo

“Diary Entries “ from Maya Ixta is an absolute gem from beginning to end it is a can’t miss so find your favorite music listening spot and get lost in the beauty that is “Diary Entries “ from Maya Ixta

Crow Follow will bring their brilliant live show to The Jungle in Somerville on June 28 with Emily Grogan Band, Catwolf, and Galaxy Cake

Onstage is where seeds of Crow Follow’s latest smoke dance of a single were first planted, as the music that flows through them during live sets helped foster an intimate connection amongst the band members themselves and the audience in the room. Like a cherry bomb lit off a hot summer sidewalk, the rambunctious “I’m In Love With You” fires dueling guitar and saxophone lines, swirling in unbridled loving energy. Providing a magnetic low-end soundtrack for underground dance parties, it opens our hearts in a time of tension and chaos.

‘I’m In Love With You’ is about this vibe I get when we’re playing on stage,” says Crow Follow guitarist and vocalist Tim Sprague. “The music swells up out of me, but it’s not me. It’s something bigger using me to express this passion, this love. Everyone in the room was a collaborator, a co-conspirator when this song birthed itself on stage. That chorus of ‘You know / I’m in love with you’ comes from an authentic emotion. When the music is running through me I am in love with everyone in the room.”

‘I’m In Love With You’ is another statement of determination from a band that relentlessly promotes our drive to live and thrive,” asserts vocalist Agent Judy. “We will not be swayed from our deepest connections to the evolutionary source of our creative forces. That’s where it’s all at. It says that we can engage power from the carnal core to lofty ideals by engaging with love in all its forms. Art is the expression of that experience.”

Kait Warner Has Crafted An Absolutely Mesmerizing Debut Album “Rodeo Clown”

We were first introduced to the spellbinding and beautifully mysterious music of New York City based singer-songwriter and pianist Kait Warner back in May of 2023 with the release of her breathtaking debut single “Over Again” as we said in our original review “Warner carefully weaved images and tones of darkness and magnificently made them shine”.

Now we have been given a musical gift of epic proportion , as Kait Warner delivers her stunning debut album “Rodeo Clown”

You can listen to “Rodeo Clown“ on Spotify Here and on Apple Music Here

On “Rodeo Clown” Kait Warner artfully and authentically examines both the brightness and darkness within the human condition.

The opening track, “Future” has a county/americana soul mixed with a indie pop heart.Warner, effortlessly is able to take many different tones and sounds and create musical works of art. (This a common theme throughout “Rodeo Clown”

On the album’s title track “Rodeo Clown” Kait Warner shows hints of musical brilliance. “Rodeo Clown “ is the kind of song that you remember and it never really fades, always staying with you .

Rodeo Clown is the emotional centerpiece of the album. Here, with almost a whimsical flair, Kait expresses the destabilizing feelings of the album’s core topic of deep meaningful friendships suddenly and dramatically ending. “There also definitely a crush element to this song as well. It’s about making yourself into a fool for the person you’ve fallen for, and the deliciously agonizing back and forth between two people who want each other but whose egos get in the way,” Kait reveals

We love the mysterious feel of “Good Behavior “ In our original review of “Good Behavior we commented “Good Behavior “ has a realness and authenticity that you just can’t fake . Kait Warner is a skilled songwriter who creates songs from the heart .Kait not only wrote “Good Behavior “, she also arranged the song as well”.

One of our favorite songs on the record is the beautifully written “23” We love everything about this song . Kait gives a stunning vocal performance that is otherworldly “23” has all the elements that make Kait Warner stand out in a musical landscape that is at times mundane.

Rodeo Clown was recorded at Business District Recording in Johnson City, New York, a space bursting at the seams with a wild assortment of vintage gear and musical instrument curiosities—many of which were used during the sessions. Joining Kait in the studio is producer Hunter Davidsohn (Porches, Frankie Cosmos, Sheer Mag, and Bethlehem Steel), percussionist and coarranger Spencer McKee, bassist and brass instrumentalist Daniel Thomas, violinist Raina Arnett, guitarist Ryan Sheehan, and drummer Elli Caterisano

“Rodeo Clown” from Kait Warner, is a must listen. If you love music you will love “Rodeo Clown “ from Kait Warner

Lovina Falls celebrates music and movement with debut live performance

An Evening With Lovina Falls’ delivers Valerie Forgione’s art-pop project to the stage December 2 at The Rockwell Theatre in Somerville

We are so excited for Lovina Falls’ upcoming debut live performance at The Rockwell in Somerville on Saturday, December 2. The night features Valerie Forgione’s art-pop project performing debut album Calculating the Angle of Our Descent with an eight-piece band, as well as performances by two notable circus artists in Chels Errante and contortionist Judith as Twisted Elegance. It all helps shape a certain type of mood that is reflected within Forgione’s theatrical and cinematic sound.

Billed as an event to celebrate music and movement, “An Evening with Lovina Falls” marks Forgione’s first appearance on stage with a live band since her former project, ‘90s-era alt-rock luminaries Mistle Thrush, last reunited nearly a decade ago, back in 2014

The show caps off an exciting inaugural year for Lovina Falls, which after releasing Calculating the Angle of Our Descent in the spring, both digitally and on limited-edition vinyl, has released a pair of Joan Hathaway music videos (for July’s “On Your Side” and September’s “Vaulted”). They are followed by a pair of Forgione-created visualizers in November – first for the swirling, piano-led escapade “Today” on November 22, which echoes the slinky song’s exploration of the human psyche; and a vibrant Peter Max-inspired visual for the electronica-driven “Too Bright To Burn,” featuring more than 1,000 hand-drawn illustrated frames set to music, on November 29 – to further highlight deeper cuts on the 10-track record.

Lovina Falls has so far presented these works in recorded versions, but is now excited to allow them to breathe and evolve in a live setting, where her panoramic origins of the songs give way to the feelings of those hearing them. It’s fitting Forgeione has chosen an intimate theater setting for this debut show, which draws on various layers of artistic performance and fosters community between performer and attendees. But with that comes a bit of risk, especially for a project conceived as a solo endeavor.

I am very excited… and I suppose a little nervous, too,” Forgione says of The Rockwell show. “Writing and recording the album was a kind of solitary experience; I’m really looking forward to sharing the music with both the folks on stage and those in the audience.

The artist energy that surrounds Lovina Falls and Valerie Forgione has the vibe and feel of a priceless work of art . We were enthralled by the audio wonderment in “Calculating the Angle of Our Descent” we can only imagine how special and magical the live presentation will be.

Joining Lovina Falls to bring the recorded album to performative life are Forgione’s Mistle Thrush bandmates Scott Patalano on guitar and Matt Klain on bass, as well as Chuck Ferreira on drums (Eddie Japan, The Shang Hi-Los), Laura Klain on backing vocals (The Daylilies), Marnie Hall on violin (Boston Music Award nominee), and Boston music veterans Brenden Cobb on guitar and Carrie Ingber on keys.

December 2nd at the Rockwell with Lovina Falls promises to be a magical musical experience. Be sure to get your tickets Here
