We recently had the stellar opportunity to check out Indie Rock Duo, Ray and Paul, and their new single “Scars” that is out now on all platforms. You can listen to “Scars” Here
We were mesmerized with the overall tone and melody of “Scars” in from Ray and Paul. “Scars”, is an honest , heartfelt and poetic track that we simply couldn’t resist. There is a welcomed freshness with Ray and Paul that really stood out to us .
“Scars” is the second single that will be featured on their upcoming EP “Fading“. “Scars” is a heartfelt, mid-tempo track that lingers somewhere between sorrow and resilience. Ray wrote the lyrics during his freshman year of college as “a reflection on the intensity of young love and the difficult process of moving forward when it’s lost.” Now, four years later, the song has come to life and carries the weight of experience and time. Recorded at The Ship in Los Angeles with producer Jarvis Taveniere (Allah-Las, Mild High Club). Ray and Paul are two brothers from the SF Bay Area who formed the band together when they were just 17 and 13 respectively. Their first single “Mystery” in 2019, written when Ray was seventeen, made waves in their Bay Area Community and went on to feature in several Spotify Editorial Playlists, giving them the platform to record their Self-Titled Debut Album. “Butterflies” off the album landed a sync placement in HBO’s The Sex Lives of College Girls. Moving to Santa Barbara for college infused their music with Surf/Garage Rock’s reckless energy and let them cut their teeth while playing shows all over Isla Vista and integrating into the local band scene. In October 2023, the band released the track “Pelican” which is currently their number one track on Spotify. The follow up single “Blue”, which expanded their sound further by featuring vocal melodies over heavier guitars, has quickly become a favorite in the live show. This year Ray and Paul have been touring all over the West Coast, selling out numerous clubs along the way. They also recently played SXSW 2025, Treefort Festival and supported Sun Room on tour. The live band also features Aidan Reese (guitar) and Mac Bihn (bass). Ray and Paul also recorded several new songs with John Goodmanson (Weezer, Pavement, Nada Surf, Hockey Dad) at Robert Lang Studios and an EP with producer Jarvis Taveniere (Mild High Club, Surf Curse, Allah Las) which is set to be released in 2025 via AWAL.
“Scars” from Ray and Paul, is an absolute can’t miss.
