We found ourselves absolutely mystified by the musical greatness of “Frankie (ON THE DANCEFLOOR) from Laura Pieri

While the original Frankie EP told the story of a woman breaking free from disillusionment and reclaiming her voice in a male-dominated world, Frankie (ON THE DANCEFLOOR) revels in what comes after: movement, confidence, and joy. Turning pain into power and melancholy into momentum, Pieri electrifies her story with pulsing rhythms, shimmering synths, and euphoric pop hooks.

Frankie’ was about rebirth and self-discovery; ‘Frankie (ON THE DANCEFLOOR)’ is about embodiment—less thinking, more feeling,” Laura explains. It reimagines the songs as a constellation of moods, showing different sides of Frankie’s story and letting her release her inhibitions.”

Laura collaborated with LA-based producer/artist YXSH on these reimagined versions. “I’ve worked with him for so many years, and he really understands what I’m thinking,” she shares. “Remixing requires a little destruction, which was scary for me at first. But once I gave myself permission, it became fun to play with textures and moods that weren’t obvious the first time around.”

Born in São Paulo and now living in New York City, Laura Pieri has been chasing music for as long as she can remember. There was never a single moment of realization; music has simply always been part of her identity. Over the last few years, Pieri has carved a distinct path in pop, earning features in outlets like FLAUNT, Mundane Magazine, and Northern Transmissions.

A true multidisciplinary artist, Pieri approaches every project with a fully realized vision. She not only writes and performs her music, but also immerses herself in the visual world surrounding it. In 2024, she created and premiered a short film to accompany the FrankieEP.

Pieri’s work lives at the intersection of sound, story, and spectacle. With Frankie (ON THE DANCEFLOOR)Laura Pieri looks toward a future where art and empowerment collide on her own terms.

Pop singer-songwriter Laura Pieri makes a bold return on April 25th with her new single, “Flown Away,” the latest chapter in her evolving sonic journey. The track arrives as part of her upcoming project, ‘Frankie On The Dancefloor,’ out May 30th.An expanded edition of her 2024 EP, ‘Frankie,’ the project will feature four fresh remixes alongside this electrifying new original track.

Though originally written for ‘Frankie,’ “Flown Away”found its own path. “For a while, she was a misfit,” Pieri reflects. “Sonically, she didn’t quite fit with the rest of the project. But stepping away gave me the space to reimagine her. Frankie’s story wasn’t over, and ‘Flown Away’ felt like the perfect way to keep her spirit alive while pushing the sound forward.”

The single marks a turning point for Pieri as she leans into dance-driven influences. “I love a more traditional pop sound, but lately, I just want to move—to dance!” she shares. “Leaving this song tucked away never felt right. Now, nearly a year after ‘Frankie,’ it finally feels like the right time to share it.”

Released in May 2024, ‘Frankie‘—alongside its accompanying short film—told the story of a woman reclaiming her voice and power. The EP was born at a crossroads for Pieri, as she contemplated walking away from music altogether. What emerged instead was a project of resilience, self-discovery, and artistic revival, co-written with an all-female team and executive produced by Skyler Cocco. ‘Frankie‘ didn’t just mark a creative rebirth—it solidified Pieri’s place as an artist ready to make her voice louder than ever.

Scumbags Deliver Epic New Album “So Many Ways…”

We recently had the opportunity to check out the killer new album “So Many Ways..” from Brazilian punks Scumbags . You can listen to “So Many Ways..” on Spotify Here and on Apple Music Here

If we’re being honest … listening to “So Many Ways..” from Scumbags was probably the best 39 minutes and 56 seconds we have spent in a while .

“So Many Ways..” is the band’s second album and while it has the same melodiand sonic goodness from their first record “Sour Days” there is definitely signs of maturity on “So Many Ways”

I think that since our first album, Sour Days, we have matured a lot in terms of composition and arrangements. We started hearing new references and brought them to our songs.” reports Chris Oliveira, the band’s drummer.

This maturity is already evident in production. Part of the album was recorded at Forest Lab, in Rio de Janeiro, a studio specialized in completely analog recording. And another part was recorded at Eletric Meduza, a recording studio located in Brusque, Santa Catarina, which also works with analogue elements in the recordings.

For Chris, the new songs will bring a different feel to what people are used to hearing in Scumbags. “The upcoming album will bring a new aesthetic to the band, a new sound. No longer the 90s punk rock that we are used to playing, but we are going to bring more risky and different things.”

Right from start, “So May Ways..”delivers … The title track “So Many Ways..” kicks off an album full of pure punk rock bliss.

Scumbags have a familiar sound but they have a style that is all their own, and it absolutely kicks ass .

Standout tracks on the album include “Elected”, “Sticks And Stones” , Through This Sidewalk and “Remedy”

So find a good spot and loose yourself in the punk brilliance of Scumbags.
