Across the 11 songs, Can We Talk? blends raw vulnerability with irresistible hooks, affirming elijah as an artist who thrives in the space where honesty and undeniable pop energy meet.

“‘Can We Talk?’ is the most personal project I’ve ever made,” says elijah. “It’s a collection of late night thoughts and real conversations—things I’ve said, things I wish I’d said, and things I’ll probably never say out loud. For me, it’s about the messy, beautiful parts of trying to connect with people and how easy it is to get lost in miscommunication. At the same time, I was chasing a sense of sonic maturity—finding comfort in letting songs breathe emotionally while still pulling listeners in with production that feels big, bold, and alive. This album feels like finally letting people sit in the room with me while I figure it all out.

Chief State Are In The Driver’s Seat With New Single + Video “No Breaks”

Band Shares Story of Near-Disaster on the Road; Announces Tour Dates with Calling All Captains, Violet Night, and Gutter King

We recently had the opportunity to check out the new single , “No Breaks”, via Mutant League Records, from, Vancouver , pop -punk heavyweights , Chief State. You can listen to “No Breaks” Here You can also check out the video for “No Breaks”

The excitement and energy generated by Chief State on their new single, “No Breaks “ is literally off the charts .

No Brakes”, a high-octane anthem born from one of the band’s scariest road experiences.

Frontman Fraser Simpson recalls the real-life inspiration:

Summer 2022 we were sailing down the interstate heading from Houston, Texas, to Austin when all of a sudden the worst thing happened – no brakes. I was driving at the time and so to not create panic, I didn’t mention our predicament to the rest of the guys until I managed to grind the van to a halt with what brake fluid we had left. What happened next was a week of being stranded in Austin (s/o Rare Bloom for letting us crash) while we waited for an out of stock part to arrive to fix our van. The mechanic then said our vehicle was so rusted he wouldn’t advise driving 50 yards down the street, we cancelled shows, we ran out of money, we considered flying home. The poignant lyric “Nothing ever goes our way” repeats throughout the song because honestly, nothing has ever gone our way. But here we are, back again, doing the thing we love because we’re young and dumb and would like another excuse to get in a van and tour the continent. To quote another line from the song: “Nothing like a little bit of latent fear, of dying young and dumb without my loved ones near” – sign us up!”

No Brakes” was produced, engineered, and mixed by Tim Creviston(Spiritbox, Youth Fountain) and mastered by Stu McKillop (Midnight Peg, By A Thread)  at Rain City Recorders, capturing the band’s signature mix of urgency, grit, and bittersweet honesty. Over the years, they’ve released acclaimed records, toured extensively across North America and beyond, and carved out a loyal global fanbase. With “No Brakes,” Chief State prove once again that they’re at the forefront of modern pop-punk—louder, sharper, and hungrier than ever.

We recently had the stellar opportunity, to check out the new single , “How To Sing For Money”, from Alt-pop powerhouse Maggie Andrew. You can listen to , “How To Sing For Money”, Here

We are absolutely in love with , “How To Sing For Money” , from Maggie Andrew, it is the kind of song that you can’t help but sing at the top of your lungs.

How to Sing for Money,” is an anthemic new single that’s as fun and energetic as it is raw, authentic, and emotionally honest. With this release, Maggie doubles down on her signature blend of bold hooks, tongue-in-cheek lyricism, and innovative production, once again proving her ability to push the limits of pop music

On “How to Sing for Money,” Maggie Andrew pulls back the curtain on the emotional toll behind the spectacle of stardom. Over a pounding beat and soaring ‘80s-inspired guitar riffs, her syrupy pop melodies dance atop razor-sharp commentary about the music industry’s commodification of pain. But there’s also another layer of ache: a closer look at the lyrics reveals that Maggie is offering to teach the person who broke her heart—the same heartbreak she’s turning into pop songs!—how to cash in, too. And so, the 15-minutes-of-fame cycle begins anew. “How to Sing for Money” is as ironic as it is irresistible—calling out the absurdity of turning heartbreak into hits, and then doing exactly that with style to spare.

It’s kind of funny how being an artist is mostly just singing about your misfortunes in life and people relating to them,” Maggie shares. “This song is written from the perspective of speaking to someone who did you dirty, and now they’re crawling back to you because you’re famous and make cool songs. So, you go ahead and teach them how to do it too.”

Hailing from Nova Scotia, Maggie Andrew brings a creative and rebellious spirit to everything she does. Her musical journey began with a dream and a leap of faith. After sending her first song to her brother, artist and Olympic snowboarder Trevor Andrew, she was encouraged to fly to L.A. to turn her dream into something real. From there, she dove headfirst into the scene, collaborating with industry trailblazers like blackbear, Ash Riser (Kendrick Lamar, Ab-Soul), Doc McKinney (The Weeknd, Drake), and Yeti Beats (Doja Cat, SZA).

With over 6 million streams and glowing praise from Rolling StoneBillboard, and Alternative Press, Maggie has quickly become a standout voice in the alt-pop space. Over the past year, she won CBC Music’s Searchlight, headlined major stages at SOMMO Festival and the JUNO Block Party, performed at The Great Escape and BreakOut West, and received multiple awards, including back-to-back ECMA awards for African Canadian Artist of the Year (2024 and 2025), as well as Rock/Alternative Release of the Year in 2025.

Go find your favorite music listening spot , and get lost in the magic of “How To Sing For Money” from Maggie Andrew

“Yacht Rock “, is the latest to be taken from her sumptuous forthcomingnew album The Sewing Room, set for release on 25th April 2025 via Mary Yelling Records, with Danny Cross doubling as bassist and the album’s mixing engineer, and mastering by Brock Macfarlane at CPS Mastering.

A slow boil of rage and reflection, ‘Yacht Rock’ spirals from a glare at the patriarchy to a mirror held up to old wounds. It’s about men—the ones who shaped us, hurt us, haunted us—and the strange rituals we invent to survive them.

Credit- @rauniemae

Commenting on the single, Reznek says: Yacht Rock is the opening track of the album—a song that began in a place of fury at powerful men, but ended up mapping the quieter, more personal toll that power imbalances can take. It moves from pointed frustration to something more tender and haunting, asking what we internalise, inherit, or reenact without realising. The title nods to a throwaway reference in the song — an image of detachment and easy listening — but beneath it is something much heavier.”

Alongside the new single, Reznek recently announced a pair of June 2025 Canadian headline dates—a run of September 2025 UK headline tour dates with support from Martha St. Arthur are also on sale now (see below for listings).

“Under A Plastic Bag” From Real Sickies Is A Phenomenal Punk Album

The new album, “Under A Plastic Bag”, via Stomp Records , from Edmonton’s pop-punk powerhouse Real Sickies, is an absolute punk rock thrill that we didn’t want to end. You can listen to “Under A Plastic Bag” You can listen to “Under A Plastic Bag”, on Spotify Here, Apple Music Here you can check out their latest video for “Wild Imagination “ below

We absolutely love the style and vibe of Real Sickies, “Under A Plastic Bag” is an absolute gem.

Known for their relentless touring and infectious melodies, the band channels the spirit of punk’s golden age with a fresh and approachable modern twist. Even Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day has hailed Real Sickies as his favorite Canadian punk band, cementing their status as a standout act in the global punk scene.

Real Sickies, hold nothing back, as soon as we heard the opening track, “Under A Plastic Bag“ ( which is also the title track ) we knew we were about to experience a complete punk rock adrenaline rush.

Described as “the Teenage Bottlerocket of the Great White North” by The Punk Site, Real Sickies fuse the raw power of Ramones-core with melodic hooks that could just as easily resonate in packed punk venues as on alternative FM radio. Written between whirlwind international tours, late-night demo sessions, and chaotic live performances, Under a Plastic Bag is an album brimming with raw, high-energy anthems. Tracks like “Wild Imagination,”Should Have Seen It Coming,” and “Triage” showcase the band’s knack for crafting catchy choruses and sharp songwriting, blending the simplicity of the Ramones with the wild edge of Teenage Head, the melodic urgency of the Buzzcocks, the quirky, off-kilter energy of Devo, and the brooding intensity of The Sound.

The recording process for Under a Plastic Bag was as intense as the themes the album explores. Engineered and produced by Joshua Wells (Autogramm, Lightning Dust), the album was recorded in Edmonton’s Riverdale Recorders during one of the city’s coldest winters. “I was brought in specifically to bring more of the post punk weirdo sound to this record,” said Wells of the sessions. “Josh flew in from Chicago and joined us in our Little Italy studio in Edmonton,” recalls frontman Ben Disaster. “We hunkered down with coffee and sandwiches, sometimes only sleeping five hours a night. It felt right—it was positive, freeing, and creative. We had a lot of songs and big ideas, but everything came together in that short, freezing stretch of time.” The studio itself became a character in the creative process. “We built a fort in the studio to keep warm, drank endless coffee, and powered through long nights,” Ben shares. “The cold and isolation somehow fueled the energy of the recordings. It was a weirdly perfect environment to make a record about chaos, resilience, and piecing things back together.” The result is an album that retains the band’s signature energy while pushing into new sonic territory.

Every song on “Under A Plastic Bag, is absolutely phenomenal, however the one track that stood out to us was , “Wild Imagination “, we love everything about this track . The sound and vibe on “Wild Imagination” is absolutely breathtaking. You can also check out the video for “Wild Imagination

If punk rock is your thing you can’t afford to miss “Under A Plastic Bag “, from Real Sickies.

You can listen to “High School” Here. You can also check out the gorgeous video below.

In 2014, she won a singing competition with her YouTube video submission, to sing backup for Tegan and Sara at the Juno Awards. This was a huge highlight in her life because Tegan and Sara are queer musicians that Chloe has always looked up to and they have influenced her style of music that she creates.

Chloe started singing at age 2 and picked up the guitar at the age of 10. She also plays piano, ukulele, and bass guitar. Chloe wrote her first song at 15 and the process of writing songs helped her figure out who she really was and how she identifies her sexuality.

As a teenager, she struggled with an undiagnosed mental health disorder and has mentioned that music saved her life. Chloe is a strong advocate for the queer community in Toronto and wants to bring awareness towards mental health issues that everyone may struggle with at some point in their life.

I was closeted when it came to my sexuality, and wasn’t confident enough to tell my friend that I was in love with her. I had these intense feelings and at the same time was trying so hard to keep it all a secret from everyone. The music video shows what I was picturing in my mind- writing lyrics, thinking about this friend who I was completely in love with and how I would have wanted our interactions to go if I had been out in high school

High School” from Chloe Mayse is a well crafted authentic and genuine song that is melodically pleasing. This song is an absolute can’t miss.

Close Talker Delivers An Album Full Of Honesty , Truth And Beauty With Latest LP “ The Sprawl”

We have anxiously awaiting the new album “The Sprawl” from Saskatoon, Canada, based indie-rock band Close Talker and , it did not disappoint.

You can listen to “Sprawl” on Spotify Here and on Apple Music Here

From note one on “Burn Out” on “The Sprawl” from Close Talker , we instantly captivated. Close Talker has a vibe and energy in their music that is absolutely mesmerizing. As we listened to each well crafted song on “The Sprawl” , we felt like we were reading a best selling novel .

Will,Matthew and Chris are master level musicians who give an absolutely flawless performance on “The Sprawl“ It is clear in listening to “The sprawl “ , that Will, Matthew and Chris bring the absolute best in each other. From “King George “ , Exodus, and our personal favorite “Tall Boy” there isn’t a bad song to be found anywhere on “The Sprawl”

The project that started as a passion for three friends in 2012 has become formative to their identities. It’s applying the nurture vs. nature argument to now-thirty year olds from the Canadian prairies, a place where change happens slowly and nostalgia holds strong. These are the core themes they dig into in th ‘The Sprawl’. ‘The Sprawl’ accounts for the years 2013-2019 in Close Talker: six years of full-on writing,

recording, touring, rinse, wash, repeat. Those years included incredible highlights and successes, in exchange for burnout and time away from home. Ultimately this period ended with Close Talker needing a break, coaxed by the pandemic into an indefinite hiatus. Taking this break allowed the band to explore other avenues in music. Will dove deep into writing and production and began scoring music for films. Chris built Slow Weather Music, a record label with an expanding roster of new Canadian artists. And eventually, three years later, Close Talker found themselves reminiscing on all the fond memories from ‘The Sprawl’ with the ones causing burn out starting to fade. Memories brought inspiration, and inspiration brought Close Talker back into the studio. They have produced an album that brings together all they have learned over their career; earworm melodies, intricate drums, soaring guitars, and prairie charm.

JESSIA Deliver Heartfelt New Single “Care About Me”

We recently had the opportunity to check out the new single “Care About Me” from Canadian pop singer and songwriter JESSIA

You can listen to “Care About Me” Here

Guided by JESSIA’s signature soul-stirring vocals, “Care About Me” is a beautifully crafted pop ballad that tugs at the heartstrings. Her emotive lyrics perfectly capture the sinking feeling of a relationship slowly falling apart. “I knew it was a special song as soon as I wrote it, but I didn’t know if anyone would relate,” JESSIA says.

“Care About Me” is pure pop brilliance. JESSIA delivers an absolutely flawless vocal Performance that gave us literal chills . “Care About Me” is one of those songs that stays with you long after the music fades .

When JESSIA started teasing “Care About Me” on TikTok and Instagram earlier this year, she was met with an overwhelming response from other people who emotionally resonated with the song’s message. I was terrified to tease it, but as soon as I did, my video comments were flooded with people sharing their stories of feeling unseen or alone in relationships, and other commenters empowering the brokenhearted,” JESSIA says. “I am proud to say it has become another ‘safe space’ anthem for my community.”

With over 375 million collective global streams, JUNO Award-winning pop songstress JESSIA has taken the music industry by storm, capturing the hearts of fans across the world with her raw talent, dazzling pop melodies, and heart-wrenching lyricism. She made her explosive introduction in 2021 with the viral single, “I’m not Pretty.” Racking up hundred of millions streams and views, the single caught the attention of Grammy-nominated artist Bebe Rexha, who later joined JESSIA on the track remix. She kept the buzz going with the release of her debut EP, ‘How Are You?,’ which was met with widespread support from iHeart, SiriusXM, and Billboard.

2023 was a big year for JESSIA. She toured Asia with OneRepublic, supported Dean Lewis on a sold-out Canadian tour, and bravely transitioned to releasing music independently.

We are a thousand percent in on JESSIA and her beautifully crafted new single “Care About Me”

Close Talker Gives Us An Epic Single And Video For “From Dark To Lightness”

We recently checked out the brand new single and video for “From Dark To Lightness “ from Canadian indie rock trio Close Talker

You can listen to “From Dark To Lightness “ on Spotify Here and on Apple Music Here

You can also watch the video below

After now a decade of performing and writing together, Close Talker has been an integral aspect to the individual lives of Will, Matthew, and Chris. The project that started as a passion for three friends in 2012 has become formative to their identities. It’s applying the nurture vs. nature argument to now-thirty year olds from the Canadian prairies, a place where change happens slowly and nostalgia holds strong. These are the core themes they dig into in their upcoming release: ‘The Sprawl’. ‘The Sprawl’ accounts for the years 2013-2019 in Close Talker: six years of full-on writing, recording, touring, rinse, wash, repeat.

There is this inescapable coolness that surrounds Close Talker and their music . We love the authenticity and realness with “From Dark To Lightness “

The Washboard Union Shines Brightly With Latest Single “Neon Needs The Night”

We recently had the outstanding opportunity to check out the latest single “Neon Needs The Night” from Vancouver, British Columbia, based Canadian country group The Washboard Union.

You can listen to “Neon Needs The Night” on Spotify Here and on Apple Music Here

Written by the band and Dave “Dwave” Thomson (Lady A, High Valley & Alison Krauss), this track is a sonic departure from the group’s recent releases with a slower melodic tempo and classic country production that lets the storytelling shine.

For fans of Midland, Jon Pardi, and Old Dominion. This song follows the band’s hit single “I Run On Country” which has over 2.5 million streams and video views and hit #13 at Canadian country radio, and their latest radio track “Gather Round” which is currently climbing the charts.

“One Before The One’ is for the singles this season who are bombarded with pictures of their exes in new relationships. It’s for anyone who felt like they were always used as the ‘practice run’ partner,” she says. “People become reflective and reminiscent this time of year, which can be hard when there are so many songs about love and connection being played everywhere. I want this song to give the brokenhearted a safe space to feel seen. Though the song is subjectively sad, I feel warm every time I listen to it as I wrote it from a place of acceptance and finding power in that. I’m excited to release a scream in your car, cry to your ceiling, breath of fresh air kind of song to get us through the holidays.”

With over 375 million collective global streams, JUNO Award-winning pop songstress JESSIA has taken the music industry by storm, capturing the hearts of fans across the world with her raw talent, dazzling pop melodies, and heart-wrenching lyricism.
