Tiberius Make Our Music Loving Soul Happy With New Single, “Felt”

We were simply over the moon, to check out the new single, “Felt”, from Boston, based farm-emo band, Tiberius. “Felt”, is the second single from the upcoming , ‘Troubadour,’their label debut album, via Audio Antihero. You can listen to “Felt” on Spotify Here, Apple Music Here

The well constructed backbeat on “Felt”, immediately got our attention. Wright’s vocal performance is an absolute thing of beauty , combined with the well formed melodies. Tiberius, have an instant hit on their hands.

Originally a solo project for Brendan Wright (they/them), Tiberius has evolved into a catchy and cacophonous four-piece,
producing what Wright calls “Farm Emo.” This expanded lineup of Wright, bassist KelvenKPPolite (he/him), drummer Sam
Blumenstiel (he/him), and pedal steel player Pat King (they/them) blends Indie Punk, Alt Country and Psychedelia with
confessional, yet conversational and relatable songwriting.

Commenting on the song, Wright shares:

When I wrote Felt, I was fairly fresh out of a breakup and was spending a lot of time looking for distractions. Instead of tackling
some bigger questions and engaging in a healthy recovery, I was tucking away my feelings into compartments and distracting
myself with casual dating. I was spending some late nights slipping into the backstories of strangers’ lives – exhilarating, but
merely theatrical. It never eased the issue at hand. I was alone, and I was terrified to sit with that.“

Tiberius Shines With New Single/ Video For “Sag”

Sag Is Taken From November 14th’s “Troubadour” LP

We recently had the splendid opportunity, to check the new single, “Sag” from Boston based Tiberius. You can listen to “Sag” on Spotify Here, Apple Music Here You can also check out the video below

Originally a solo project for Brendan Wright (they/them), Tiberius has evolved into a catchy and cacophonous four-piece, producing what Wright calls “Farm Emo.” This expanded lineup of Wright, bassist Kelven “KP” Polite (he/him), drummer Sam Blumenstiel (he/him), and pedal steel player Pat King (they/them) blends Indie Punk, Alt Country and Psychedelia with confessional, yet conversational and relatable songwriting.

“Sag is about this dreaded ‘Allston to Bushwick’ pipeline we have in Boston. A lot of musicians end up using Boston to cut their teeth before heading off to New York or LA to pursue their music careers. I wrote ‘Sag’ when I was really playing the ‘comparison game’ in my head and asking myself what role I wanted music to play in my life. It was the first in a batch about looking at yourself in relation to the others around you and trying to decipher who you are without that context.“Brendan Wright (they/them)

“Sag”, will be featured on the upcoming LP, “Troubadour” which will be released on November 14th . Tiberius, will embark on an August tour details below .

Sometimes all it takes is one listen to a song to be instantly hooked, this definitely the case with the glorious new single “Sag” from Tiberius. Mesmerizing melodies with though provoking lyrics that swim effortlessly in your soul, you owe it to your music loving heart to check it out

SUPERWORLD Proves They Are Next Level With Explosive New EP, “Surefire”

We recently had the extraordinary opportunity to check out the new EP, “Surefire” via Lauren Records, from San Jose-based maximalist Emo band  SUPERWORLD. You can listen to “Surefire” Here.

“Surefire” from SUPERWORLD, is 9 minutes of some of the most explosive music we have heard in a long time. Melodic, Powerful, Authentic, and Emotional. SUPERWORLD is absolutely phenomenal.

Featuring members of Spy, Leer, and Stickup Kid, SUPERWORLD mix hi-energy screamo with the likes of math-rockers like Duck, Little Brother Duck and Covet. As longtime members of the San Jose scene, they cite everything from DIY bands like Matsuri and Shinobu to jazz fusion legends like Casiopea as influences, but ultimately pulse to a beat all their own.

The energy and unique vibe coming from SUPERWORLD, is truly electrifying and special. From the moment we heard the first chord on opening track “Surefire” we knew we were in the presence of musical greatness. SUPERWORLD , is able to lay down some of the most tasteful riffs we have ever heard … Then they effortlessly bring a thunderous amount of power and emotion.

The impressive, “Dark Upper” is quickly becoming our new favorite song. We can neither confirm or deny that we may have sung along while in line at our local bank.

The closing track ,”Eraser” literally gave us goosebumps. The musicianship in SUPERWORLD, is next level and it is on full display on “Eraser”

SUPERWORLD is playing  GROWING UP IS DUMB festival in Los Angeles this Saturday, April 5,

Tell your friends, tell the world !!! SUPERWORLD is a band you cannot ignore.

Keeper , Delivers Hyper- Pop-Punk Gem, “Taste It”

We recently had the stellar opportunity, to check out the new single, “Taste-It”, from London’s prince of Hyper-Pop-Punk, Keeper.

“Taste-It”, is the first single from the upcoming 2025, EP, “Cabin Fever”

You can listen to “Taste-It” on Spotify Here, Apple Music , Hete

Taste It’ shows Keeper in a new light. Written alongside As Everything Unfolds’ Jon Cass, and producers Matt Thorne and Song Higginson, ‘Taste It’ offers a deep personal insight into a period of darkness – recovering from a global pandemic, losing loved ones, and escaping an abusive relationship, among other things.

Where there once was frustration and disdain towards the project – and songwriting in general – Emanuel Andrade now displays a sound and feel which is true to himself; pure, genuine, and secure, with a strain of mid ‘00s Emo nostalgia.

On ‘Taste It’Keeper said “I’ve gone back to my roots, but now I’ve added all these new styles and influences I’ve picked up over Keeper’s formative years, so, I’m far more confident with them – happy, even. ‘Taste It’ is fast-paced, loud, in your face, and heavier than most Keepertunes, and the lyrics are incredibly personal, naturally – all break-up material. I had to get SOMETHING positive out of my experiences over the last year.”

We love the high energy vibe on “Taste-It”, from Keeper. We found ourselves absolutely mesmerized with the electrifying melody of “Taste It”

Ben Husk and Kevin McGrath prove almost instantly on “For A Limited Time Only”, that they are both highly skilled musicians who are not afraid to experiment freely with music to construct sonic and melodic works of art.

The stand out track for us is without question- “Layers” Every inch of this well written gem is drop dead perfect , we found ourselves singing along to this one almost instantly.

Ellen May Delivers A Spectacular New EP With “A Lonely Way To Go”

We recently had the opportunity to check out the new EP “A Lonely Way To Go“ via We’re Trying Records from Perth, Australia based duo Ellen May

You can listen to “A Lonely Way To Go” Here

Ellen May was formed early 2022 in Perth, Western Australia, when Matt Matusik and vocalist Matt Branton connected via a local networking group. Demos and ideas were pinged back and forth, a friendship was made, and a musical bond was forged.

Ellen May’s debut EP ‘A Lonely Way To Go‘ is a 4 song collection of songs themed around the fact that we all die alone, even when surrounded by various relationships.

All 4 tracks on “A Lonely Way To Go” are well crafted songs with strong and catchy melodies coupled with memorable and perfectly placed vocals .

Opening track “How It Came To This” really peaked our interest, as it has an indie rock feel at the start . But, it developed into a stunning well crafted power pop gem . “Misconstrued “ shows of the great chemistry between Matusik and Branton. “Hawthorne” has a sad boy pop feel that the duo flawlessly executes . We had “Hawthorne” on endless repeat . Our favorite track is the closing track “Back To The Start” It is the kind of song that stays with you long after the music stops . We absolutely loved it .

Stunning melodies and brilliant lyrics make “A Lonely Way To Go “ from Ellen May an EP that you owe it to your ears to check out.

Artist Of The Day For March 7th, 2024 :ColorMeKrazy!

Courtesy Of ColorMeKrazy

Last Friday, we had the amazing opportunity to check out Raleigh, North Carolina based hype rock band ColorMeKrazy! and their phenomenal new single “Ex-Friend”, which is simply electrifying. You can check out “Ex-Friend on Spotify Here and on Apple Music Here . We recently chatted with ColorMeKrazy! As they are our Artist Of The Day for March 7th 2024 .

The Whole Kameese: Thank You so much for taking the time to chat with us here at The Whole Kameese .

All: Thanks for having us!

The Whole Kameese : Can you please introduce yourselves and your role in the band . Part 2 can you tell us how you all came to be ColorMeKrazy?

Mia: I’m Mia, I’m the lead vocalist and a co-producer for the band. I add beep boops and write lyrics!
Tom: My name is Tom. I arrange songs & play guitar for ColorMeKrazy!
Drew: I’m Drew, I absolutely shred on a variety of spreadsheets and documents to keep the band running smoothly. And I occasionally strum the guitar.
Zach: I’m Zach! I play drums in the band, dabble in running our live sound, and I mix/produce our tracks.

Courtesy Of ColorMeKrazy

Tom: The band came to be in late 2023, after Mia reached out to me online. She’s a bit of an insomniac, so I got a message at like 3:00am asking to start a band. I work nights, so I answered right away, & we practically had plans for this thing solidified by dawn. A few more messages brought the rest of the gang into the mix shortly thereafter.

The Whole Kameese: ColorMeKrazy! has an amazing one of kind sound that we absolutely love ! What are some of the influences that helped shape your sound?

Mia: Definitely for me, I have produced a lot of soundcloud rap and hyperpop over the years, as well as being an avid gamer, so a lot of my influences are really electronic sounding artists like 93FEETOFSMOKE, Grimes, or EDEN.
Drew: It’s a list long enough to put us beyond our word count, but I can speak for both myself & Tom when I say the catchy riffs and melodies are inspired by bands like: A Day To Remember, Yellowcard, Paramore, Story of the Year, The Early November and Jimmy Eat World.
Zach: Yeah, most of my drum parts take great influence from bands like Green Day, Blink-182, My Chemical Romance, and other bands from the warped tour era.

The Whole Kameese: We love the latest single “Ex Friend” , the vibe and sound is absolutely electric. Can you talk about how the song came to be ?

Mia: I actually wrote the lyrics for this song after a really close friend betrayed my trust in a really deep way. Tom sent over this instrumental, I think it was just the chorus bit, and it was so in your face I knew exactly what to take my anger out on!

Courtesy Of ColorMeKrazy

The Whole Kameese : Is there any special meaning behind the band name?

Mia: Me and Tom went back and forth so many times on band names. I kept suggesting names that were too soft, Tom’s names were too dark, I think I let my ghost hunting interest bleed in somewhere. At some point Tom just brought the name up. It sounded like a cool blend of the two of us, I like to think of us as Hot and Cold, Color and Krazy!
Tom: yeah, I was talking to my buddy at work, & he said “Now, color me crazy, but I think…” & I was like “Hold that thought!!” I practically ran away from the man just to write it down. It just felt right.

The Whole Kameese: What Is the band beverage of choice ?

Mia: We are a healthy bunch, we are always bringing water to things! But probably a more fun answer is whatever soda we decide to pick up at Cookout!
Zach: & A few of us enjoy dabbling in all things whiskey!

The Whole Kameese: Can you talk about your writing process as a band? Is one person the main writer or is it a group effort?

Tom: Typically, I’ll make a rough roadmap of how I see a song going in my head. I leave room in the demo for 808s & electronic elements, so that Mia can come in & work her magic. Drew has a wonderful ear for adding little ambient lead parts that compliment what’s already there. Zach, of course, writes his own drum parts. It all comes together in a really beautiful way.

The Whole Kameese: If ColorMeKrazy could play a show anywhere, where would it be?

Drew: A sold out crowd at The Ritz in Raleigh would be amazing.
Mia: I think for me, I’d love to go back north and play a show in NYC. I miss New York a lot.
Zach: Personally, being originally from DC, it would be awesome to play any of the bigger DC clubs like 9:30, The Anthem, Union Stage. But I truly enjoy all live music venues and any chance at being on stage.
Tom: A lot of my early involvement in the music scene also took place in & around DC & Baltimore. The energy surrounding alternative music in that part of the country is unmatched in my experience. So I’d say there.

The Whole Kameese: Finish the sentence… The best part of being in ColorMeKrazy! is?

Mia: My friends! When I first moved to NC I didn’t know anyone. I’m really happy I got to meet all these guys, and can proudly say they are quickly becoming my favorite people to be around.
Drew: Getting to be creative with other creative people.
Zach: The creativity and unique perspectives that all the members bring. We truly do come from differing musical backgrounds and I think it shows in our original music.
Tom: Everything. I spent 10 years out of bands, & I missed it every day. Now that I’m back in the saddle, I love it all. Even the really tedious stuff. It’s all great.

The Whole Kameese: If you could open for any band who would it be ?

Mia: Right now, I’d say Meet Me @ The Altar. I went to their show in Greensboro, and I feel like we would vibe really well.
Zach: To name a few, Pierce the Veil, My Chemical Romance, State Champs, or Knuckle Puck. Have seen most of them live and am a huge fan of their music and live performances.
Drew: A Day To Remember. They bring insane amounts of energy and the crowds at their shows always bring it as well.
Tom: I’d like to open for Senses Fail again. My old band played a show with them back in like 2012, & it was at a point in their career where they were NOT popping, not like they are today. But even with a crowd of probably 60 people in a 1800 cap room, they brought ALL the heat that night. It set a precedent for me as a performer going forward, it’s 100% or nothing. So I’d love to open for them now that they’ve regained their footing & are filling those bigger rooms like they deserve!

The Whole Kameese: What is next for ColorMeKrazy! In 2024

Mia: This is our first year, but it’s jam packed. By the end of the year, we will have a full EP out and hopefully will have played a bunch of shows we can tell you about next time!

We are super excited to see what’s next for ColorMeKrazy they are most certainly a band on the rise.

Impossible Dog Have Crafted A Magnificent New EP With “Specifics”

Graphic Design by Evan Kelley

Last week we had the distinct honor of checking out the latest single Sometimes I Want To Chokeslam My Phone on the Floor”, from Boston based band Impossible Dog. We were so impressed by the song that we literally had the tune in our head all week .I’m not sure if my bank or my local supermarket enjoyed me serenading them with “Sometimes I Want To Chokeslam My Phone On The Floor , but that’s what they got.

Now one week later, Impossible Dog has gifted musical lovers everywhere with the release of their magnificent new EP “Specifics”

You can listen to “Specifics” on Apple Music Here and on Spotify Here

Photography by Rachael Bissonnette , Graphic Design by Evan Kelley

“Specifics” was engineered and mixed by Evan Doherty and Mastered by Dan Coutant at Sun Room Audio

Right from the opening note of “Doggies” it is crystal clear that Impossible Dog are a band that is on the rise.

When listening to “Specifics” you can hear the great care that the band has taken in crafting their EP.

Courtesy Of The Band

On “The Wheel”, Impossible Dog ((Devin Congdon, Evan Kelley, Evan Doherty, and Alex Bachman.) , present a melodic and harmonic work of art, what makes Impossible Dog stand out is their ability to artfully and musically connect the listener with well formed musical compositions. We found ourselves not only enjoying the melodic presentation of “Specifics” but, we were also drawn to the well written lyrics.

Our favorite track on “Specifics” is without question “Sludge” , it is definitely a song that deserves to be on constant repeat ( yep, it’s that good) . The percussive sounding beginning really stood out. We hear shades of Jimmy Eat World and Buffalo Tom, which make the song familiar, but Impossible Dog seem to have a musical secret sauce that makes their sound unique and memorable.

“Long Shot” is a beautiful wall of sound that washes over you and gently finds its way to your soul. “Long Shot” is one of those magical songs that stay with you long after the music had ended .

The final track on “Specifics “ is the highly memorable and highly addictive “Sometimes I Want To Chokeslam My Phone On The Floor” . We absolutely love this song , and it is the perfect way to end such a great collection of songs.

We can’t think of a better way of spending 15 minutes and 35 seconds than listening to the magnificent new EP “Specifics” from Impossible Dog.

LA Punk/Power-Pop Band For Closure Find Another Gear With Latest Single “Moon At Noon”

For Closure (fronted by vocalist Gizz Lazlo (Dr. Know, U.K. Subs, The Freeze)

We recently had the distinct honor of checking out the new single “The Moon At Noon” via Mindpower Records, from LA punk/power-pop band For Closure ( fronted by vocalist Gizz Lazlo (Dr. Know, U.K. Subs , The Freeze

You can listen to “ Moon At Noon” Here

Frontman Gizz Lazlo says, “”Moon at Noon” was written a few days after my dad’s first major heart attack in May of 2018.

I was sitting on my parent’s porch while my dad lay in the hospital in a coma for 6 days. As I sat there confused and worried about what was going to happen, I needed to write something to calm my nerves a bit. Luis had sent me a demo that I’d listened to a few weeks prior.

While I was listening to the music over and over on my headphones, chain-smoking trying to distract myself, certain phrases kept coming back as I was humming melodies over the music.

A few hours later I’d finished these lyrics and just left them alone as I went back and forth to the hospital trying to deal with my mother and relatives who started arriving from Mexico to see my dad. When my dad was discharged from the hospital I couldn’t sleep thinking that this may happen again

. About a week after my dad was home I found myself in my studio wondering what these lyrics would sound like to the music. I spent about an hour behind the mic recording the original demo for this song.

I sent it to Luis and we instantly knew we HAD to record this song. It’s definitely not something we usually write together. That’s the thing I love about writing songs with Luis is that we both don’t care what people are going to think about them.

If “we” like them then let’s record them. Everything we’ve written in the past few years are songs about the dark side of life. Not everything is rainbows and butterflies. As much as we want it to be, it just isn’t. My hope is that whoever listens to our songs finds something that they can hold on to if they ever feel down.

I grew up with songs that helped me through some tough times. Maybe, just maybe we can help someone through their personal trauma with our songs. I’ve been close to the end many times, but I’m still here. So I guess the best advice I can give is to – Never Lose Hope!! You are loved!!”

We are absolutely over the moon for the new For Closure single “Moon At Noon”

Music is by far the best form of expression and For Closure have crafted an absolute gem.

What really makes “ Moon At Noon” shine , is how For Closure artfully works in not only punk and pop-punk elements in to the song , But, you also can also feel the Emo and melodic hardcore elements as well.

We can’t wait for more music from For Closure, “Moon At Noon” is an absolute can’t miss.

We Are Loving The New Video For “This # Is No Longer In Service “ From Swiss Army Wife

photo by Anthony Lopez(@anthonylopets on Instagram)

We are absolutely loving the new video for “This # Is No longer In Service “ from Portland-based emo/punk rock group Swiss Army Wife. The song and video are from the band’s spectacular debut album “Medium Gnarly”.

Swiss Army Wife collaborated with long-time Touche Amore & Joyce Manor Producer Alex Estrada to deliver their sugar rush of a debut record, Medium Gnarly.

You can check out “Medium Gnarly” Here and you can watch the video for “This # Is No Longer In Service “ below

In the new video directed by Anthony Lopez (@anthonylopets on IG), the band indulges in their fun and creative storytelling abilities when a persistent caller breaks up band practice. Who’s on the line? Pick it up and find out.

Vocalist, Kade Dale , had this to share about “This # Is No Longer In Service “: “’This #’ is about the toll that being constantly connected and on-call takes on your mental health. It can be hard to find space just to exist when anyone can hit you up at any time for any reason. At some point, even interacting with people you love starts feeling like a chore–which is terrifying. You start turning inward and shutting people out. Eventually, you’re stuck in your head, trapped in a slow panic, and the phone just keeps. fucking. ringing. I think that’s part of why this is the first track on the record–it’s an introduction to the sort of ‘I’m stuck here with my anxieties’ introspection that the rest of the album hovers around.”

Swiss Army Wife, without question , has given us one of our most favorite records of 2023 with “Medium Gnarly “ “This # Is No Longer In Service” is one track we definitely played a million times. We are so psyched to have an awesome visual that we will probably watch a million times.

Nervous Kids Release New Single “ Back To The Start”

We recently checked out California Emo Punks Nervous Kids and their new single “Back To the Start” out now via Wiretap Records. The track is ahead of brand new EP out in early 2024.

You can listen to “Back To The Start” on Spotify Here and on Apple Music Here

You can check out the official lyric video for “Back To The Start below

Lead vocalist/guitarist Ryan DeMint of Nervous Kids says, This is a song about experiencing emotional burnout. Doing everything in your power to overcome mental struggles but somehow always ended up right back at the start with nothing changing. I think this is a situation many can relate to, this song definitely helped me cope with that when I wrote it a few years back.”

Although the band didn’t officially form until the summer of 2022, the emo-punk project Nervous Kids began as a solo act during the COVID-19 lockdown of 2020. With live music making a comeback and mandates being lifted, the 4-piece came together with the lineup consisting of Ryan DeMint on lead vocals/guitar, Damian Morales on bass, Arturo Lara on guitar and Rodrigo Rosales on drums. The band’s music takes inspiration from both punk and emo, bringing high energy and fast tempos with lyrics that delve deep into human emotions, ranging from topics such as depression, love, heartbreak and trauma. Since the inception of the band, they have continued to play as many shows as possible around their hometown of southern california. In March of 2023, the band embarked on their first official studio session with producer Alex Estrada (Joyce Manor/Touché Amoré) and released their single ‘Anyone but You’ on June 27th.

Nervous Kids have definitely caught our attention with the well crafted “Back To The Start” . They are without question a band we will be keeping our eye on in 2024

Good June Delivers A Well Crafted Gem With Latest “I Tire Of The Storm

We recently had the opportunity to check out the latest single “I Tire Of The Storm” from Boston based 4-piece alt-rock/emo band Good June . (Spoiler Alert: It’s Freaking Amazing)

Good June is a band who is absolutely firing on all cylinders. We were in awe of the past two singles “It’s All About” and “Dark” – as for the latest single “I Tire Of The Storm”Good June has artfully crafted a melodic work of art that is simply breathtaking.

London 4-Piece Burnt Tapes Release First New Song In Nearly 3 Years- ‘Little Sister” (ft. Hannah Hermione Greenwood of Creeper) And… It Rocks!!!

We recently checked out the new single “Little Sister “ from London based punk/emo four piece The Burnt Tapes featuring Hannah Hermione Greenwood of Creeper) via Wiretap Records (US) and Lockjaw Records (UK/EU).

You can listen to “Little Sister” on Spotify Here and on Apple Music Here

Lead vocalist and guitarst Phil L. says, Little Sister is our first song in almost 3 years. It’s a song set to the backdrop of the 2021 COVID lockdowns and tells a very personal tale of loneliness, depression, and family. At a stage where helplessness had taken over and the end was near in my head, my little sister was there for me, took me in, and saved me in many ways. So the song is a tribute to her, to all those close to us who have been there when the days were dark, and a reminder that we don’t have to and should never suffer in silence.

From the get go, we wanted to get a guest vocalist on the track to in many ways represent my sister singing alongside me. We recorded this track at the incredible Ranch Studios, where Creeper have recorded in the past and we were lucky enough that Hannah heard the song, liked it and agreed to come on board. We’re huge fans, and it’s come out better than we could have imagined, so stoked to have made it happen.”

Burnt Tapes will be playing a series of Florida shows around their upcoming appearance at The Fest later this month. See dates below.
