Tickles Release 3 Minutes Of Brilliance With New Single, “Daughters Around”

We recently had the epic opportunity to check out the new single, “Daughters Around “ from Nantes, France-based noise-rock four-piece Tickles , you can listen to “ Daughters Around” on Spotify Here,

On their new single, “Daughters Around “, ( which is the final single, from their debut studio album ‘Sugar & Plastic Plates’ is due for release November 28th 2025 ) Tickles have crafted a unique yet familiar sound that we became immediately captivated with.

Emerging from the vibrant punk scene in Nantes, France in 2018, Tickles have carved out a reputation as one of the country’s most exciting and unpredictable new bands. The four-piece burst onto the scene with their 2020 debut EP ‘I Love You Paul’, a raw, bruising release that immediately drew comparisons to Idles, Fontaines D.C. and METZ and saw them championed by French press for their fusion of noise, punk and post-hardcore, their chaotic live energy, and their sharp sense of humour. Their second EP ‘Ticklesticklesticklesticklesticklestickles’ further cemented their reputation, showcasing a band capable of matching intensity with intervention.

Their debut nine track studio album was recorded with Christophe Hogommat (Mad Foxes, Basic Partner, 20 Seconds Falling Man, Watertank), mixed by Joris Saïdani (Birds in Row, Bops, Fragments) and mastered by Thibault Chaumont (W!zard, Carpenter Brut, It It Anita). The album is still charged with the raw intensity of their noise-punk roots, but the quartet digs deeper to deliver a darker, more furious and visceral full record. Through apocalyptic riffs, thunderous basslines, frenetic rhythms and cynical lyrics, Tickles wrestle with isolation, anxiety, abandonment and the scars of childhood, a sincere first statement from the band.

Ahead of the album’s release comes ‘Daughters Around’, its final single. A song that tackles the complexities of family life and relationships.

Discussing the lyrical inspirations behind the track, Bonfils says, “Daughters Around questions family relationships and their gender dynamics. While the father goes to work, the son fights, and the mother struggles, the daughters remain around, symbols of both gentleness and fragility. Yet behind this seemingly secondary role, it is upon these figures that the balance of our relationships truly rests. Through music that is heavy yet tinged with disco, this ode to the strength of all our daughters takes shape.”

“Daughters Around “ , from Tickles, has a one of a kind vibe that can’t be missed.

You can watch the performance of “I Want To Write A Good Song” below

You can listen to “I WANT TO WRITE A GOOD SONG “Here

Often times when you hear a particular band or a particular song it feels important, as if the universe is saying “Hey check this out!, this is special” We definitely felt this after watching This Will Destroy Your Ears, perform, “I WANT TO WRITE A GOOD SONG”

We were absolutely captivated by the powerful performance from , This Will Destroy Your Ears, we were literally hanging on every note/word

The session comes ahead of the official announcement of a new album due for release in 2025, with further details to be revealed over the coming months

I WANT TO WRITE A GOOD SONG’ is taken from the band’s second album Everybody Knows Mickey, released in 2022 on respected French label À Tant Rêver Du Roi (FR), Cowboy À La Mode (FR) and Brutalist Records (UK).

The album was produced and recorded by Henri D’Armancourt and TWDYE at pARPAINg, Angresse, mixed by Alex Greaves at Nave Studio, Leeds, and mastered by Carl Saff at Saff Mastering, Chicago.

Conceptually, ‘I WANT TO WRITE A GOOD SONG’ is built around a series of song titles the band would have liked to have written, including 31 influences from the Pixies‘ ‘Debaser‘ to the Talking Heads‘ ‘Psycho Killer‘, not forgetting Johnny Cash‘s ‘Man in Black‘, The Murder Capital‘s ‘Green & Blue’ and IDLES‘ fabulous ‘Colossus‘—a noisy anthem to the artists TWDYE love so much.

Filmed by Loula Productions (already responsible for the group’s excellent ‘Coffin For Two’ video on a fishing boat) at the Black Flag in Seignosse in the middle of winter, this live session was conceived as an obvious counterpoint to the exercise. The trio had fun simulating an audition organised by the bar to find a house band for the coming summer, finding themselves in front of a meagre five people who are less than enthused (the zooms on the faces of the protagonists speak for themselves…) while they hammer through the single as if nothing had happened.

If you want to see the band live with more than five people in the room, you can choose between the two French dates in March, or wait until the band announce their Autumn 2025 UK tour dates later this year.

This Will Destroy Your Ears, is a band that you need to pay attention to. We can’t wait to see what they do next.
