Every musical composition crafted by Looking Glass War, is crafted with such a high level of style and “Rock And Roll Elegance”, and the new single , “Seance by the RCA, is no exception, as it the perfect bow on the amazing new EP, “Saints of the Lost and Found “

“Seance by the RCA” leads with hypnotic drums that had us completely entranced.

Drawing inspiration from a topic increasingly relevant in today’s complex world, the song reflects on the legacy of the legendary escape artist Harry Houdini—not just as a performer, but as a fierce skeptic who exposed mediums and spiritualists exploiting grieving families with their deceitful tricks.

One particular debunking of a seance-fraudster took place in the band’s own hometown of Boston, and serves as the subtext for most of the song’s lyrics. A wealthy socialite of the city’s historic Beacon Hill neighborhood had a lucrative hustle of fleecing others with promises of reuniting them with departed loved ones. She was also the spouse of an esteemed surgeon in the area. Taking some creative license with the real life story, Glenn infers that the surgeonhusband–despite being so familiar with the spectre of death as he “opens people for a living”–isironically haunted by his own mortality. In her imagined defense of her fraud, the socialitemedium claims she only engaged in the occult to aleve her husband’s fear of what lies beyond this world.

The EP artwork for “Saints” itself depicts a turn of the century seance taking place.

“Seance by the RCA” kicks off with a commanding guitar riff before breaking into one of the band’s most rhythmically intricate drum and bass grooves to date. Drummer Tony Porter cites a fusion of influences behind the innovative rhythm: “When Pete and Mike first brought the verseriff to rehearsal, I envisioned shifting away from a traditional rock beat toward a breakbeat or slowed-down drum ‘n’ bass feel. Interestingly, it was a Velvet Revolver track that inspired me tosimplify during the choruses, emphasizing just crash cymbals and bass drums. My influences can be eclectic, but ultimately, it’s about serving the song in the best possible way”.

Pete adds, “I was listening to a lot of Mineral (90’s Mid-West emo legends) when I wrote this guitar line. I love the directness of their stuff and how the guitars work so tightly with the drums.I think that definitely came through, but it also keeps to the Looking Glass War sound as well -we can’t help but sound like us in the end.”

Looking Glass War has a sound and vibe that is simply on another level . “Saints Of the Lost and Found” is the kind of EP, that is packed with musical goodness from first note on the first track all the way through to the last note on the last track.

At the end of the day, what makes Looking Glass War , so special is their ability to fuse musical brilliance and cerebral brilliance as one to create an extraordinary musical experience. “Saints Of the Lost and Found “ is an EP, you’ll want to hold on to.

Friday October 13th is the absolute perfect day for the summer radio hit, which has become a fixture on Little Steven’s Underground Garage.

When asked about the amazing visual that is “The Growler” , Smitt E. Smitty commented

I wanted to take the idea of living with ‘reckless abandon’ and add an old-time horror movie element to it. A genuine ‘growling’ protagonist. One-hundred percent Mr. Hyde without any Dr. Jekyll. Plus, we did a live show at The Met in Rhode Island, and I was able to use that footage to capture the energy of our performance for the song. When people come to our live shows, they are always blown away by the energy and passion we put forth. It’s that passion that is captured for this music video.”

The Growler” was recorded at New Alliance Audio in Somerville, engineered and co-produced by Alec Rodriguez, and mastered by Dave Stawecki.

The idea for Smitty’s latest barnstormer came to the multi-instrumentalist and songwriter while he was on a cross-country flight, flying to a gig at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado. The captain spoke over the intercom in a slow, deliberate drawl as he addressed passengers on the flight – “like an idling old motor car engine,” quips Smitty – and soon after, the seeds of “The Growler” were planted.

I took the idea of ‘The Growler’ and crafted lyrics, using a more existential, and less specific mind set,” admits Smitty. “Who truly is… ‘The Growler’? The point of view I used was to imagine myself as a much more rough and tumble, devil may care, living in the moment type of creative. Charles Bukowski in a rock band. Full on untethered, unfiltered, and reckless abandon. Basically me, only hyper amplified to the nth degree. I may have used some past real life experiences and magnified them, for a greater effect. The song was really fun to write. I describe it as decadence on parade.”

Smitt E. Smitty & Fezztones are a musical energy that you can’t ignore . Go check out the cinematic fun that is the video for “The Growler”

The second track “I Can Tell By The Cars “ is so magnetic , we can’t pull away from it. Looking Glass War is firing on all cylinders on this track . The well written lyrics take center stage on “I Can Tell By The Cars”

You can watch the lyric video for “I Can Tell By The Cars” below

A Tsar Is Torn “ is the kind of the song that makes you really stop and listen. We had this one on heavy repeat .

The final track “A Gun On A Wall In A Scene “ has a great 90’s Britpop vibe , that we absolutely love .

When asked about the EP, guitarist Pete Zeigler commented “The song-to-song flow is the real first statement from this band, as this EP shows different sides of the whole Looking Glass War sound. We’re taking classic post-punk and indie sounds and moving them beyond the derivative and into new territory. Familiar underpinnings but with new twists.”

Where Neon Meets the Rain – its title taken from a lyric in “Arrive!” – was produced by Brian Charles, with assistant engineer Adam Hand; recorded in Massachusetts at Mad Oak Studios in Allston and Rare Signals in Cambridge, MA; and mastered by Peter Linnane.

Vocalist Goddamn Glenn, guitarist Pete Zeigler, Mancunian ex-pat bassist Mike Ackley, and drummer Tony Porter have created a musical work of art that could possibly be one of the best EP’s we’ve heard this year . An EP like “Where Neon Meets The Rain “ is what happens when extraordinary musicians get together and create music with their whole heart and soul- Bravo
