THUMPER, Unleashes Blistering New Single, “The Drip”

We recently had the privilege to check out the tremendous new single, “The Drip” from Dublin psych-pop powerhouse THUMPER. You can listen to “The Drip” on Spotify Here and on Apple Music Here

THUMPER, comes in red hot with their new electrifying riff fueled new single, “The Drip” and we loved every freaking second of it .

The track is the first of a series of releases across 2025 leading to the release of their sophomore album which follows debut Choice Music Prize nominated Delusions of Grandeur which was an epic introduction to the band’s psych-drenched rumble which juxtaposes walls of distortion with saccharine melody and unabashed hooks.

The Drip is a song about tour burnout and relationship strain. The song was written almost a line at a time, small lyrics jotted down at different moments on tour, in different cities, different head spaces. The title refers to that slow accumulation, drip torture was on my mind, but also an IV drip – something that keeps you alive, hooked to your veins. In this case my deep love for making music, and the people I make it with.

The song has no chorus – no release. But it’s joyous and builds with momentum with each passing section, even as the lyrics seem to become more abstract. This conflict between love for the thing, and that thing destroying you – that’s The Drip. “Poke to find a vein, flick the bag”

The song was recorded with producer Rian Trench in rural Donegal, in a cottage that we converted into a studio. We built a control room in the sitting room, and ran cables into the various bedrooms for guitar amps, even using Alan’s van to house the bass amp outside (as the volume inside the house was making the fillings in our teeth come loose). The double drums were then recorded in Attica Studio in Donegal owned by Tommy McLaughlin ( Soak, Villagers, Ailbhe Reddy). There was no signal, no wifi, no distractions – just friends making music together. We were listening to a lot of DIIV and Wednesday at the time, and we were lucky enough to rope in Alex Ferrar (engineer/producer of Wednesday,MJ Lendermann, Angel Olsen, etc) on mixing duties.’

We can’t believe we are just discovering, THUMPER, and their otherworldly sound (we apologize) Go immediately listen to “The Drip”, You will be absolutely amazed.

SCUSTIN Lampoon Blame Culture On Stellar New Single ‘I’m Never Flying With Ryanair Again’

We recently had the amazing opportunity to check out the new single, “I’m Never Flying With Ryanair Again” , from SCUSTIN You can listen to the new single, Here

Dublin post-funk quartet SCUSTIN are delighted to reveal their new single ‘I’m Never Flying With Ryanair Again’, being released today, May 21st .

We absolutely love the vibrant style and sound of “I’m Never Flying With Ryanair Again” it is a catchy groove that is SCUSTIN, at their very best.

Following the social media buzz around their tongue-in-cheek rage-baiting release ‘The Ick (Don’t Put Blackcurrant In That Pint of Guinness)’, the band continue to win high-profile fans across the arts, includingFontaines DC’s Grian ChattenGurriersDan Hoff, Meditations For the Anxious Mind PodcastUFC’s Meatball Molly, comedian Darren Conway, designer Hephee, and rapper Kojaque.

Already shaping up to turn just as many heads, new single ‘I’m Never Flying With Ryanair Again’ blends infectious pop-groove structures à la Blur and Wet Leg with a grunge-country guitar that wouldn’t feel out of place on aNirvana record. The result? An alternative Irish pop anthem that hits hard and hooks fast.

Commenting on the track, the band say: Lyrically, the song is a satirical deep-dive into the absurdity of blame culture. Channelling the tongue-in-cheek swagger of The Streets, Viagra Boys, and Kneecap, the story introduces a maddeningly self-unaware character who wreaks havoc through his airport routine. It’s a wry observation of a world where it’s easier to deflect responsibility than take it on the chin.

The track is the latest to be taken from their debut album Confessions Of A Pub Talkerwhich will be released on September 19th , 2025 and follows on from early singles ‘Charmerand ‘The Ick (Don’t Put Blackcurrant In That Pint Of Guinness)’

Recorded and produced by Richie Kennedy(The Murder Capital, RIDE, Interpol, Shame) at Black Mountain Studios, forthcoming debut album Confessions Of A Pub Talker is a concept record that tells the story of Larry, a barman in his mid-to-late 20s struggling to find his way amidst the social and economic uncertainties of modern Irish life.

More than just a band, Scustin blurs the lines between crowd and artist. When you step into a Scustin show, you don’t just watch the band—you become part of it. Scustin is a state of mind, a shared love for all things craic. To be “Scustin” is to belong to a group united by this love, where every show is a celebration of connection, culture, and pure, unfiltered fun

We are absolutely hooked on Scustin, and their brilliant new single, “I’m Never Flying With Ryanair Again “

We Are All In With InBetween Honey, And Their New Single, “Hey Ramile”

We recently had the stellar opportunity, to check out the new single, “Hey Ramile”, from Irish indie rock band InBetween Honey . You can listen to “Hey Ramile” Here You can watch the video below

InBetween Honey, create smart and melodic indie rock songs that totally kick ass …. “Hey Ramile” is definitely one of those songs .

InBetween Honey are a fast rising Irish indie rock band who are forming a reputation for delivering hard hitting guitar driven songs. Having twice played Electric Picnic Festival and performed across Ireland they recently made their UK debut at the legendary Dublin Castle in London. With the release of ‘Driving Home‘ the band storm into 2025 and display their intent on it being a year where they go from strength to strength.

Guitarist, JohnPaul, comments about the song : Written in the springtime of 2023 after the realisation that I had fractured my back and the torment it had caused me in the run up to knowing the news. “Hey Ramile?” tells the story of a conversation I had on the phone with a nurse to the endless nights I spent on a hospital ward during that March where frustration, anxiety and amongst it all laughs are experiences i will keep forever.

“Hey Ramile”, is one of those songs that you can listen to a million and one times and never get bored of.

InBetween Honey are Dylan Hickey, brothers Matty & JohnPaul Melady, Ciara McManus and Dan Battigan.

The Butterfly Grave Release Gorgeous New Single “ Setting Sun”

We recently had the amazing opportunity to check out the new single “Setting Sun”, from Irish indie artist, The Butterfly Graveyard.

You can listen to “Setting Sun” on Spotify Here , Apple Music Here.

There is something absolutely breathtaking beautiful about the new single “Setting Sun”, from The Butterfly Graveyard.

Delicate and delicious, Irish alt-rock artist The Butterfly Graveyard is located somewhere between The Blue Nile, Jeff Buckley and the deep blue sea. He makes a fragile music, soft as a butterfly’s wing but sometimes rough and uneven like the underbelly of a leaf, translucent when held up under the light.

The vocals from The Butterfly Graveyard, on “Setting Sun” are magnificently brilliant, we were literally in awe.

Setting Sun is a song about  making the most of the time we are given. It is a song of two halves. The first half is written from an individual point of view where the character is looking forward, trying to get stuff done and at the same time looking back with a sense of loss. The second half is more Universal in the sense it could almost be written by a Major Tom like character, who is looking down from space in complete dismay at the earth’s resources being plundered and pillaged.  This character is seeing raging forest fires,  the earth drowning in flash floods and polar bears being stranded on melting ice caps. So in a way the song is a rallying call to protect the earth in this so called ‘Golden Age ‘ of drilling.  It’s about ‘we’ as a collective, trying to get things done before the human race runs out of road and the sun sets on the earth for the very last time.”

You need to immediately stop what you are doing and get yourself lost in the incredible beauty of “Setting Sun”, from The Butterfly Graveyard.

Four Faces Deliver Dynamic New Single “Overnight”

Four Faces, is kicking off a series of releases for 2025. As the second track from their upcoming debut EP, ‘Overnight’ builds on the momentum of their late 2024 release, ‘Part Of You’, showcasing the band’s evolving alt-rock sound. ‘Overnight’ captures the signature energy of Four Faces 4-piece line-up while pushing their sonic boundaries with elements of modern pop production and explores the push and pull dynamic of two individuals navigating their relationship.

Daniel Ffrench mentions that –
Overnight in its earliest form has been an idea that we have played around with for many years. It all began when I introduced the main riff that is heard throughout the track, which we always jokingly referred to as our ‘Swedish House Mafia Riff’ because of  its offbeat and dance inspired vibe. It was only in the last year that the song finally began to take shape, evolving into a fully realized song. It has quickly become a favourite  for both us and our audience, due to its powerful energy and danceability”

The song was recorded and engineered at The Clinic Recording Studio by Cian Synnott and David Anthony Curley and mixed and mastered by Aidan Cunningham.

We were absolutely mesmerized by the melody on “Overnight” from Four Faces. Pristine vocals energize a well crafted song that makes you want to tap along and move your feet.

Do your music loving heart and soul a favor and check out “Overnight” From Four Faces

The Whole Kameese Artist Of The Day Interview: Jessica Doolan

Today, Thursday, January 11th – We are proud to present our first Artist Of The Day: Dublin based soul-pop singer Jessica Doolan .

We first discovered Jessica Doolan back in December, when she released her stunning debut single “Stay Or Surrender “

You can listen to “Stay Or Surrender” Here

Jessica Doolan has one of those magical voices that once you hear it , you’ll never forget.

We recently had the distinct honor to chat with Jessica and learn more about this incredible up and coming artist.

Artist Of The Day January 11th: Jessica Doolan

The Whole Kameese:Hi Jessica, thank you so much for taking the time for chatting with us at The Whole Kameese

Jessica Doolan:Thank you for having me!

The Whole Kameese: Can you tell us when you started singing? Do you come from a musical family ?

Jessica Doolan: I started singing when I was about 3 or 4! My family are very musical. I have memories of jamming along to my dads guitar making up melodies and random lyrics. My brother plays the piano incredibly well, my mum sings and my dad plays nearly every instrument!

The Whole Kameese: If someone has never heard you sing before, how would you describe your singing style/sound ? .

Jessica Doolan:I would describe it as Soul-Pop. I grew up listening to artists like Nina Simone, Etta James and Amy Winehouse and I was facinated hearing how much passion was in their voices!

The Whole Kameese:

How old were you when you wrote your first song? Do you remember what it was called?

Jessica Doolan: I was 10 when I wrote my first full song. It was called ‘ Mise Sa Todhchai’ which means Dear Future Self in the Irish language. I wrote my first songs in Irish. I love the sound of the language being sung.

The Whole Kameese: If you could do a duet with anyone , who would it be and why?

Jessica Doolan: My dream duet would probably be Alicia Keys. She’s the coolest!

The Whole Kameese:We absolutely love your debut single “Stay Or Surrender “ Can you tell us the story behind the song?

Jessica Doolan:I wrote the song about my first ever heartbreak. It’s quite raw and honest and I knew I had to put it out the minute I wrote it. I was in a relationship that wasn’t very good for me and I didn’t know whether to stay or go. It felt like I could never escape the feeling of being lovesick & that the heartbreak would stay in my system forever. After I put the song out I got so many messages of people saying it resonated with them. It made me feel less alone!

The Whole Kameese: Coffee or Tea?

Jessica Doolan: I’m a tea girl! Nothing better than getting into your pajamas and making a cup of tea

The Whole Kameese: If you could play a show anywhere, where would that be and why ?

Jessica Doolan : I think playing Madison Square Garden is definitely at the top of my dream list! It’s such an iconic venue and so many of my inspirations have played there.

The Whole Kameese: What are artists are you currently listening to ?

Jessica Doolan: I’m listening to a lot of Sade, Sampha and Teddy Swims!

The Whole Kameese : If you could give one piece of advice to young musicians/singers who are just starting out , what would it be and why?

Jessica Doolan: I would say don’t be afraid of failing. It’s always daunting putting yourself out into the world and sharing your art but remember it’s your purpose and you should never let the doubts take over your mind. It’s all about the journey and I always think about a quote I read. It was ‘ The desire to succeed will never be more powerful than having the guts to fail’.

The Whole Kameese: What can we expect from Jessica Doolan in 2024?

Jessica Doolan: A lot more music & a lot more shows!!! I’m hoping to play my first ever headline show this year, I’m so excited.

The Whole Kameese: Thank you very much Jessica, for taking time to chat with us here at The Whole Kameese . We hope you have an amazing 2024.

Jessica Doolan : Thank You! Have a wonderful New Year.

We can’t wait to see what Jessica Doolan does in the new year ! Be sure to check back , as we will have much more on Jessica Doolan in 2024.
