We have made no secret about how much we enjoy the music of Annabel Gutherz, her latest single , “Summer’s Here” is yet another example of her ever evolving artistry.

Emotionally rich and effortlessly nostalgic, “Summer’s Here” blends hazy guitar lines, a laid-back groove, and airy vocals into a sound that feels both spontaneous and sentimental. “It’s a little sonic postcard, if you will,” Annabel shares. “A keepsake for summer love and freckles, for salt-kissed skin and windblown days on the beach—for the tender, aching sweetness of experiences that linger well beyond the moment!”

I wrote this song in the sun-dappled days of June,” she continues. “It started with a simple melody and a looping chord progression—unassuming, but full of potential. I brought those chords into rehearsal and asked the band to play whatever the moment made them feel, without having heard the topline.” That moment turned out to be magic: the song was captured entirely in a single live take. What listeners hear now is that very take—raw, expressive, and alive with the breezy, wistful, and whimsical spirit of summer.

We recently had the amazing opportunity to check out the new single, via Lauren Records, “Days Without”, from Montreal’s-based indie rock quartet frown line. You can listen to the glorious new single, “Days Without” Here

First off, can we just say how much we love the new single, “Days Without”, from frown line… “Days Without “, is one of those songs that grabs you from the opening chord and doesn’t let you go until the last chord has faded.

Written at the height of personal turmoil, “Days Without” channels jagged ’90s alt-rock guitars into a wall of cathartic noise, then anchors it with Annika Devlin’s clear-eyed vocals and a racing rhythm section. “It captures a chaotic stretch of my life that I could only survive thanks to my best friend,” Devlin explains. “Even in its heaviest moments, the song is really a thank-you.”

“Day Without” follows frown line’s studio debut single “Anyway” released last spring. What began as Annika’s 2020 bedroom 4-track demos has grown into a full-bodied Montreal foursome: Devlin (guitar/vocals),Juan Jimenez (bass), Owen Viragos(guitar), and Lucy Grant (drums). Their sound stitches jangly hooks to squalling feedback, pairing Devlin’s deceptively upbeat melodies with lyrics that sit “secretly sad” beneath the surface.

Dutch Nuggets, Have Created A Punk Rock Masterpiece With New Album, “Fishbowl’d!”

We recently had the epic opportunity to check out Montreal skate punk favorites Dutch Nuggets  and their amazing new punk rock masterpiece, “Fishbowl’d!” The band are finally back from hibernation with their long-awaited second full-length album, Fishbowl’d!, via Thousand Islands Records/Bearded Punk Records. The boys teamed up with Thousand Islands Records and Chris Fogal (Cigar, Pears, Counterpunch) to deliver a perfected and matured version of their signature blazing punk/hardcore sound, complete with infectious three-part harmonies, while also exploring some new territories. Dust off your board, old fart—the Nuggz are back at it!

We love every thing about Dutch Nuggets, and their triumphant new record, “Fishbowl’d!” Once we heard the first chord on the opening track, “Ignorance Is Bliss”, we were in Punk Rock heaven.

Fishbowl’d! is available as a 180g gatefold edition LP with 2 Ecomix color variants. 2$ per album sold will be donated to Carbone Boréal, a greenhouse gas offset program through tree planting.

“Dead Tired”, Three Of Clubs and “Plastic Lives” are strong melodic songs that we found ourselves continually hitting repeat on . However, the beauty of “Fishbowl’d! “ is that every track is a phenomenal listening experience.

If we had to pick an absolute favorite it would without a doubt be , “Fishbones” because it really shows the band firing on all cylinders. ( The guitar work is pure genius )

The Last Mile Release New Album, “Holding On To Hope” Is An Absolute Sonic And Melodic Work Of Art

“Holding On To Hope” , from The Last Mile is everything you could ever ask for in a punk album and then some. We truly believe we just listened to 10 tracks of melodic punk greatness.

With the release of their second full length, ‘Holding On To Hope,’ collectively released on Thousand islands Records and Pavones Records, The Last Mile are moving forward and intensifying their sound. The aesthetic of the record was designed and laid out by Stealworks a.k.a. John Yates, known for his genre defining work with bands such as Lifetime, Jawbreaker, Alkaline Trio, Bad Religion, Alternative Tentacles, and so much more.

Recorded in Vancouver by long-time collaborator, Jesse Gander (Brutus, Japandroids, DBS, Daggermouth) and mastered by Jason Livermore at The Blasting Room, these songs are a natural progression of the bands signature heartfelt songs, leaning in a more modern hardcore vein while still retaining their punk rock roots.

We can honestly say with our whole music loving heart that there isn’t a bad song on “Holding On To Hope “ The Last Mile write authentic and heartfelt songs that move your mind and soul as well as your feet.

“Farewell For Now “, “Anything” and “Hot Box” are all solid well written musical compositions that we absolutely loved . The one song that stood out to us on “Holding On To Hope” was “Water Mary” The melodic and sonic tones complement each other perfectly .

Flawless vocals ( which feature both make and female vocals) and next level musicianship make “Holding On To Hope” an absolute can’t miss.

Sometimes all it takes is one listen to a song, and you are instantly hooked . This was definitely the case when we heard “Anything” from The Last Mile.

“Plastic Lives, is Plastic Lives” is the third and final single from ,  Dutch Nuggets ahead of their album Fishbowl’d!. This time, the band delivers a more melodic, mid-tempo punk rock anthem—showcasing yet another side of their sound and proving they still have plenty of surprises up their sleeve.

The fury and speed of “Plastic Lives” had us on the edge of our seats. Dutch Nuggets have their own of melodically and sonically perfect style of skatepunk that is absolutely off the charts .

Reissue of The Last Mile’s highly acclaimed and out of print debut LP ‘Respect The Frequency’. Featuring an alternate artwork and lyric insert and pressed on a beautiful Blue-ish Aside/Bside vinyl. You can 1000% count The Whole Kameese as fans of The Last Mile.

The Last Mile write songs that are rooted in melody and angst, love/hate and an unwavering hope, even in the darkest of times. The current line up has proven to be extremely proficient, arranging and recording all of the drums and bass for 11 songs over a week at The Posicorebox studio in Brooklyn. The guitars and the vocals were recorded in Montreal with Ryan Battistuzzi and feature help from some great friends, including guest vocals from Greg Laraigne as well as Lucas Rupnik (Dirty Tricks, Delta 666), Mathieu Forcier (Oktoplut, Prevenge), and Mike Gabriel (Answers, PL Mafia) on guitar, and Delano Pelletier (Indochine) on saxophone. The record was mixed by Jesse Gander and mastered by Stu Mckillop at Raincity Recorders in Vancouver.

We started The Whole Kameese back in 2020 as a way to keep busy during the pandemic. We are so lucky to have worked with so many wonderful artists, promoters and other music professionals. We were also so blessed to be able to share so much amazing music . We have made the difficult decision to put the blog on the back burner. At this time we need to focus on other important matters. We do not know how long we will be away but, we will return. We thank all of you for your support

We recently had the opportunity to check out Montreal-born, LA-based singer, songwriter, model & actress Kayla DiVenere and her new single “Small Talk” . You can listen to “Small Talk” Here

Following recent hit singles like “Date Myself” and “Jumping the Gun,” the LA-based artist delivers another punchy alt-pop earworm with her new single, “Small Talk.” Kayla created the song with producer/songwriter Jordan Witzigreuter (The Ready Set) and songwriters Maia Kelly and Zach DeGaetano.

At just 20-years-old, Kayla’s catchy yet introspective lyrics perfectly capture the highs and lows of young adulthood. On “Small Talk,” her honeyed vocals tell the story of a secret crush she has on her brother’s best friend. 

I created ‘Small Talk’ in my longing to have more than a fleeting 5 minute conversation with my crush every time he would come over,” she opens up. “My imagination ran wild and I found myself aching for something like a John Hughes romance movie about a secret love, complete with a boombox outside my window and a mixtape of his favorite songs. After rewatching every romance movie I could find, I decided that instead of torturing myself, I should write this song in an attempt to pour my heart out and make sense of my desire for something more than small talk.”

Blending classic rock influences with modern pop sounds, “Eclipse” is a vivid and textured song that showcases an artist who has found her voice. The new single was co-written with and produced by Mikal Blue (OneRepublic, Jason Mraz, Colbie Caillat) and Bret “Epic” Mazur (Crazy Town, Prince, The Black Eyed Peas).

“‘Eclipse’ is about my tendency to compare myself to others and the impact this has on my self-esteem,” Annabel says. “I would rather be concentrated on purpose than consumed by comparison despite how challenging it may be at times, especially given the ubiquitous nature of social media. This single showcases my desire to focus on my own path and nurture my inner confidence.”

It has been a real treat to listen to a new Dead Alright tune every month. But we are totally psyched to have all of the amazing tracks in one spot. These songs are powerful, authentic and flat out rock.

Dead Alright is the solo project of Brand New Lungs/ Never Hit Again frontman Louis-Charles Berthiaume and it is simply amazing.

Every song is a well crafted work of art.

Some of our favorites include “Parasite” featuring Davey Knight , “Groundhog Day “ and we love the intro on “Locker Room Mentality “

Berthiaume says, “It’s been a long time coming, but the whole thing is now available everywhere for you listening pleasure. Thanks to everyone who listened to the songs every month, commented and shared, I am so happy about the reception so far!! Thanks also to Thousand Islands Records who agreed to the stupid plan of releasing one song a month, it’s been a long adventure hahaha. The last song to complete the album, “The Great Ride”, is sort of an ode to life. There are a lot of songs out there that talk about living fast and dying young– me, I just want to die as old as I can, and be able to look back and be able to tell my kids that it was a great ride. Life is beautiful, make the best of it!!’
