Warn The Duke is back with “Angels”, their first new single in over two years. Tomás Doncker has long been a prime mover on the New York music, arts and culture scenes. From the early 1980s, as a member of groundbreaking No Wave and Punk Funk bands The Contortions and Defunkt, international touring, recording and songwriting collaborations with luminaries such as Bootsy Collins, Meshell Ndegeocello, Ivan Neville, The Specials and the legendary Ms. Patti Smith, to helming his own band, The True Groove All-Stars, Tomás has established himself as a cross-genre innovator without peer.
‘Hard Is Hard’ was produced with James Dellatacoma (Bill Laswell, Herbie Hancock) and mastered by Michael Fossenkemper (Paul Weller, LL Cool J, Miles Davis) and includes guest instrumentation from Frank Benbini (UB40, Fun Lovin’ Criminals), Adriano Rossetti-Bonell (UB40) and The Specials Horns. With elements of soul, blues, funk, rock and some jazz thrown in for good measure, ‘Hard Is Hard’ is a five-track masterclass in Doncker’s innate knack for genre fluidity. The EP lyrically explores themes of racial inequality, social injustice and keeping a positive mental attitude through hard times.

Discussing his decision to cover the single he explains, “Motörhead… Lemmy…Ace of Spades. Who doesn’t love this song? I have since I first heard it many lifetimes ago. A few years back, I was in a car and it came on the radio – and it spoke to me in a very different way than it ever had before. This was the moment when the idea of covering it popped into my head. When I read the lyrics, it became clear to me what it was that was tugging at me…The Blues. I realised that Motörhead had changed the spirit of Son House, Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters, and the Delta Blues storytelling tradition and sped it up to create one of the quintessential rock and roll anthems of all time. It became obvious that I had to sing this song. I saw myself in it.”

Every track, on , “On The Phone With My Mom “ has us hanging on every word and melody. We felt absolutely captivated by the the title track, “On The Phone With My Mom” It is euphoric melody, that stayed with us long after the music faded . We also loved the energy on , “Any Day Now “
If we had to pick a favorite track, ( which is almost impossible to do) we would absolutely pick, “You Could Break My Heart “ it is Maddie, at her absolute best .

It’s one of the first of my songs that I truly loved, which is part of why I chose it as the title of my upcoming record. I’m grateful for how this song continues to bring me back into my body.”

It’s the telling of wanting to be more than what we are to someone, with the painful realization that we just aren’t what they ‘need’, wrapped in the telling of what they ‘want’. It’s holding onto hope, knowing that no matter how much it hurts, you’re not chosen and there’s just no coming back from that.”

Reflecting on her collaboration with Will, Nina shares, “I’ve spent a lot of time writing with upcoming artists the past couple of years and I have loved working with Will. When he asked me to feature on Fairweather Friends I was really excited to be involved in one of his first releases. I had the pleasure of writing Will’s last song, ‘Into The Blue,’ with him and Kamille, so it’s nice to be singing on this one! The Backfires are thrilled to release their new single “Turn Off The Lights” that is out now on all platforms.
Turn Off The Lights” is the fourth single that the band has released that will be featured on their debut album This Is Not An Exit” to be released January 24. The three other previously released singles are “Replace It All,” “Brighter Lights” and “Dressed For a Funeral.”

Formed in 2018, when Alex Gomez (vocals) left New York to study in London and met Harry Ruprecht (guitar) and Max Wanduragala (drums).
The three of them then returned to the states in 2022 and recruited Matt Walter (bass) before they recorded their debut EP, ‘Consider the Backfires’ in the hazy midst’s of lockdown.

Julia Raye has a soulful R&B-Pop sound that is absolutely stunning. and on full display on her latest single “Expectations” The new single, which was produced by Bret “Epic” Mazur (Crazy Town, Prince, Black Eyed Peas), is an alluring R&B-pop gem that highlights Julia’s impressive vocal range.
“I wrote ‘Expectations’ when I was feeling torn with the relationship I was in at the time,” she says. “I kept feeling so much pressure from both myself and the people around me. This song is my inner monologue as I try to figure out what my expectations are for us while navigating this relationship.”
Hailing from Long Island, New York, 23-year-old Julia Raye has been performing for as long as she can remember. She grew up taking dance classes, singing, and performing in local musical theater productions. By age 17, she had performed in over twenty musical theatre shows along with performances with the New York All State Choir and ACDA All National Choir. She went on to study vocal performance at the University of Michigan where she was able to learn from George Shirley, a pioneer in the opera world who became the first African-American to perform at the Metropolitan Opera.

Melodic New York punk band Such Gold is thrilled to announce their signing with Mutant League Records.
Today (June 13th ) they are also releasing their new single, “Talk Loud ,” which is now streaming on all digital platforms. This marks the band’s first new music since 2017, signaling a powerful return to the scene.
“Talk Loud” was produced by Such Gold’s bassist Jon Markson at The Animal Farm (The Story So Far, Drug Church). The single is accompanied by a high-energy music video produced by Alex Zarek.

An important part of every set, it’s been a crowd favorite forever. With Better(er) Days we really wanted to capture the live energy and the chaos of a song with less than two chords, one line of lyrics, and a one-note guitar solo”.
In addition to Staub (bass/vocals,Bad Mary is Amanda Mac (vocals), Bill Mac (drums), and David Henderson (guitar). Their songs have been a staple in rotation on SiriusXM’sUnderground Garage, they garnered the New Music Spotlight and Coolest Song In The World in 2023, and “Forget About It” is already getting airplay on Rodney Bingenheimer’s SiriusXM show. This tight-knit unit uses humor and the power of music to push back on all the negativity going on in the world.
