“Glass Jaw”, From Kat Cunning Is The Perfect Collection Of Music Perfection

We recently had the absolute honor to check out the debut EP, “Glass Jaw”, from the extraordinary Kat Cunning. You can listen to “Glass Jaw” on Spotify Here and on Apple Music Here.

Kat Cunning, is an artist in every sense of the word. They have artfully crafted a true musical gem with “Glass Jaw”, that we simply can’t stop listening to. We danced , we sang …. Our music loving heart was touched beyond measure.

Kat Cunning, has delivered a five-track, cinematic and genre-bending opus that solidifies their place as one of today’s most fearless queer voices. Both anthemic and intimate, the record frames their unmistakable voice—rich, raw, and commanding—which has graced stages and cinemas around the world. Having opened for artists like LP, Verite and G Flip, their career also spans Broadway, Cirque du Soleil, TV & Film. In this bold departure from their lush, romantic early work, Glass Jaw exists in the affair between LOVE and DANGER. Capturing the raw electricity of Cunning’s stage presence with a grittier sonic palette and a masterful visual album.

The EP’s opening track, “Sinderella” had us immediately enthralled. “Sinderella” flips fairytale tropes into a kinky, unhinged anthem of obsession—urgent, theatrical, and unforgettable. It’s also Kat’s drag debut, sung at the top of their range

The flawless vocals on “Dancer”, were positively breathtaking. With muscular production and aching vocals, it invokes the shadows of Depeche Mode and Annie Lennox while exploding into an anthem of delirious persistence. A galvanizing homage to the radical joy and resilience of the queer community, it’s not just a pop song; it’s a rallying cry. Love Lies Bleeding called- They want their theme song back.

Our favorite track on the EP, is without question, “Pinup Boy” . Kat Cunning, is at their absolute best . Sung like a confession, this lonely ballad blooms with nostalgic harmonies and organic strings, reminding us that even in spectacle, Cunning has the instincts of a poet. Pure Perfection.

We are totally in love with the samples on “Rocket the song sent our music loving heart into orbit.

Closing track “My Lady (Tigerlily)” is the stupid-in-love, seal of hope on the EP.  Giddy, bombastic and unabashed, it’s the button on an otherwise darker world—a reminder that queer stories can end in triumph, not tragedy, no matter how many scorpio placements you have in your chart. We’re in pop music to celebrate escapism, maximalism and radical joy, afterall.

“Glass Jaw” from the simply amazing Kat Cunning, is much more than just an EP, it is a beautiful, glorious , inspiring and important body of work that is felt long after the music has ended.

Rayvon Owen Delivers Melodically Strong New Single, “Fragile”

We recently had the amazing opportunity to check out the new single, “Fragile”, from rising artist, Rayvon Owen. You can listen to “Fragile” Here

“Fragile”, from Rayon Owen, is one of those magical songs that you can’t help but love from the very first time you hear it.

Rayvon Owen’s music is a celebration of authenticity, love, and resilience. Each song in his catalog offers a glimpse into his journey, blending lush pop textures with elements of soul, R&B, and incandescent synths. His uplifting and deeply personal storytelling has earned recognition from People MagazineHuPostUSA Today, and Billboard, solidifying his place as a voice for self-expression and connection.

Breaking onto the scene as a top-four finalist on American Idol (Season 14), Owen has since built an impressive career spanning music, television, and high-profile performances. His 2024 single “Enough” was heavily featured in a pivotal scene on All American: Homecoming on The CW, while his music has also been showcased on Love Island Australia. That same year, he delivered a stirring national anthem performance on NBC’s Sunday Night Football for the Washington Commanders’ season return, adding to a growing list of milestone moments.

Melodically catchy and well written, “Fragile”, is ready to be your new favorite song …. You just don’t know it yet.

“Fragile” came out of a fun session with my producer/co-writer buddy RUSS… we were just catching a vibe, feeling good, and the song kind of wrote itself. It’s about giving love another shot… letting someone know it’s okay to feel a little broken, but it’s also okay to try again—with me. I wanted it to feel like a soft nudge to open your heart back up. And honestly, while I was writing it for someone else, I realized I needed to hear it too. It’s a reminder that even when we’re fragile, we’re still worthy of love.

A proud advocate for the LGBTQ+ community, Owen has headlined and mainstaged pride festivals across the country, including World Pride, West Hollywood Pride, Tulsa Pride, and Space Coast Pride, using his platforms to celebrate freedom and visibility. His discography features fan favorites like “Faraway Lover,” “La Locura” (a collaboration with Shaka y Dres, nominated for Billboard’s Best Latin Summer Collaboration), and ‘Las Virginia’, an EP reflecting his personal and artistic growth.

You owe it to your music loving heart to check out , “Fragile” from Rayvon Owen

Cover Art – Lauren Nieves

We recently had the phenomenal opportunity, to check out the electrified new version of Meg Smith’s fan-favorite single “Girls Just Wanna Be Famous”, released through Artist House. Meg, has teamed up with fellow pop powerhouses , Molly Grace, and MARIS. And… it is absolutely amazing!!

You can listen to “Girls Just Wanna Be Famous (er) Here

First released earlier this year, “Girls Just Wanna Be Famous” became an underground anthem – a sparkling, theatrical ode to ambition, stardom, and feminine chaos. Now reimagined with Molly and MARIS, the new version takes on fresh life with three bold voices and a shared sense of tongue-in-cheek honesty. It’s maximalist, emotional, and infectious, the kind of pop song that makes you want to laugh and choreograph a performance in your bedroom mirror.

The second we finished writing ‘Girls Just Wanna Be Famous’, I knew I wanted Molly & Maris to feature on the remix,” says Meg. “This song is a love letter to every girl who’s dreamed of their name in lights and I’m so inspired by Molly and Maris’ hard work and talent. We had so much fun working on this remix!

MARIS, the genre-bending pop star known for her glittery synths and cosmic storytelling, wrote and recorded her verse remotely after Meg reached out via Instagram.

“’Girls Just Wanna Be Famous(er)’ feels like both a celebration and a lament for the path of a creative girl who really just wants to connect with people,” MARIS says. “Meg literally just DM’d me on Instagram and asked if I would be down to write a verse, which I was so excited about because I already loved the song so much! I ended up writing a verse in one sitting and recorded the vocals in my home studio. Seeing everything come to life has been so fun and beautiful, and I’m honored to be on a song with such stunning pop icons!! ❤ I am a Meg Smith and Molly Grace stan forever.”

Molly Grace, whose disco-drenched alt-pop and powerhouse vocals have made her one of the genre’s rising stars, delivers a fiery new verse and irresistible energy to the rework. Already a close collaborator of Meg’s, this marks their first official release together.

A straight up power pop rock and record that all you need to do is press play and… You achieve rock and roll music listening perfection instantly.

Courtesy Of The Band

The Peppermint Kick, ( The Boston duo of Dan Kopko and Sal Baglio) triumphantly return with their first new Peppermint Kicks album in three years in Pop Rocks In My Chewing Gum, a livewire collection of anthemic, retro-kissed power-pop and neo-glam belters out via CD and streaming today, (Friday, August 1 ) on Rum Bar Records.

“Pop Rocks In My Chewing Gum” , from beginning to end, is loaded with every you would ever want in the perfect rock and roll record.

10 tracks – swirling around playful themes of lollipops and candy, crushes and longing, breakups and redemption, all served with a sizable sonic dose of hope and fun – explode out of the speakers with distinct personality and purpose. And the lyrical subject matter is varied, but oddly pointed.

The Peppermint Kicks go international on Pop Rocks In My Chewing Gum – perhaps even unintentionally, but we are not telling!” says Baglio with a laugh. “There are songs about French girls, candy, and trash cans. Twiggy-esque Lollipop Girls in the UK. An Italian female pop star from the ‘60s, paeans to classic Japanese cartoons, NYC, and Boston, too. And it would not be a Kicks record without songs about radio and rock and roll.”

We felt ourselves falling deeper and deeper for the sweet sounds of The Peppermint Kicks, with every song sounding better than the last.

Pop Rocks In My Chewing Gum, its title taken from a lyric in the album’s riff-tastic spotlight single “Too Sweet (Oh Yeah!)” – “Excitations on my tongue / pop rocks in my chewing gum,” We can neither confirm or deny that we may have been belting these lyrics EVERYWHERE.

It is next to impossible to pick a favorite song from “Pop Rocks In My Chewing Gum”. “Little Doll (Piccola Pupa) “ , “Shangri La” and “Lollipop Girl” , had us dancing our hearts out. However, the one song that really hit the sweet spot , was without question- “Number One Record “ we simply could not get enough of this freaking power pop masterpiece.

Both Dan Kopko and Sal Baglio performed all the instrumentation on the record –  Baglio on guitars, piano, vocals and Kopko on guitars, bass, vocals – aside from drums, which were provided by Kevin Rapillo, Chris Anzalone, and Napoleon Hashimoto. The album was mixed and mastered by Kopko’s alter ego, Danny The K.

If it is music you crave…. Then you owe it to yourself to check out “Pop Rocks In My Chewing Gum” from The Peppermint Kicks.

The Gypsy Moths Have Us Wanting More With Epically Pleasing New EP, “Five By Five From Four”

We recently had the absolutely sensational opportunity to check out the new EP, “Five By Five From Four”, via Rum Bar Records, from Massachusetts garage-pop soul shakers, The Gypsy Moths. (Spoiler Alert: This EP Will Make Fall Hopelessly In Love With The Gypsy Moths)

You can listen to “Five By Five From Four “ on Spotify Here, Apple Music Here

Right from the first note on “And You Know I Do”, on – “Five By Five From Four” we were instantly smitten with the one of a kind sound from The Gypsy Moths

The five-track record, which arrives today (July 25th) is a proper primer for the quintet’s ambitious double-album set for release in October.

The EP is perfectly timed , as The Gypsy Moths unveil the record just ahead of appearing at Rum Bar labelmates The Dogmatics’ album release party blowout on Saturday, July 26 at the French-American Victory Club in Waltham, alongside Band 19, Last Stand, Stop Calling Me Frank, and several others.

The title of Five By Five From Four is also a nod to the band – a group of longtime friends, collaborators, and conspirators consisting of Steve O’Brien (vocals); Chris Conway (guitar, vocals, keyboards, percussion); Phil Thompson (bass); Matt Miceli (drums and percussion); and Dave Buckley (keyboards) – and the forthcoming double-LP: Five songs, by five Moths, from four sides of the album.

Courtesy Of The Band

There is an authentic “feel good” sound that is present throughout the EP, that we are positivity over the moon about.

This is probably the most excited I’ve been for any of our releases,” says Conway, who produced the EP. “We’ve pushed the corners further on what the band is all about musically, both with our recordings and in the writing. All five of us have known each other and played music in one form or another with each other going back to the mid-’80s when we were in high school together, so this set of recordings is the first representation of that bond of music, friendship, and creativity that has been coming together for over 40 years now.”

Five By Five From Four, was recorded with Ed Riemer at Edsbarn in Canton, Massachusetts, and mastered by Dave Westner

The record both blooms in several creative directions while oddly continuing in a Gypsy Moths throughline: “Before The Lights Went Out” tugs at jangle-pop heartstrings with an R&B-rock undercurrent; “Cover For Me” is a swagger strut of a tune that wouldn’t be out of place on a long-lost ‘60s best-of comp; and “Fold Up The Air” boasts a piano and guitar riff lead before vividly blossoming into glam and psych daydream territories.

The stellar “Five By Five From Four “ , from The Gypsy Moths, is a can’t miss.

We Can Honestly Say That The Debut Album From The Far Out , “Greetings from The Far Out” , Was Love At First Listen

Artwork by Olivia and Ezra Lowe

We don’t know what we did to be so lucky but, we consider ourselves absolutely blessed to be able to check out the new album, “Greetings from The Far Out”, from rising Boston pop-funk collective, The Far Out. You can listen to “Greetings from The Far Out” on Spotify Here, Apple Music Here

If you have yet to experience the electrifying next level pop funk from The Far Out , you are clearly only vibing at 50 percent. The epic new album, “Greetings from The Far Out “ is the perfect way to get your vibe to 100 percent.

We triple dog dare you to find a weak link on “Greetings from The Far Out “ … trust us you won’t … not even close . Every single song is more drop dead perfect than last . Eight gems that you can let play on repeat for infinity.

Led by a quartet of charismatic singles, including February’sFunkadelic Gas” and May’sLaurel,” the eight-track record from the Boston funk-pop collective welcomes the listener into its blossoming community, where positive vibes and blissful motivation – and an initiation to escape the day’s doom and gloom – are soundtracked by the sextet’s infectious sonic cocktail.

Hard times make for great music,” says saxophonist and guitarist Colin Senechal. “You gotta put your frustration and pent-up energy somewhere. If it can be upbeat to help people find some hope, even better!

With this debut album, a spectrum of styles and sounds that blends together funk, pop, indie, R&B, soul, Yacht Rock, ‘70s AM gold, Motown, and whatever else filtered through The Far Out’s unique sense of forward-motion retro-cool, the “New Act of the Year” recipient at the 2024 New England Music Awards is ready to take things to the next level.

If you have been grooving to the singles , ( “Funkadelic Gas”, “Laurel”, “Packed To Go” and “See Red( You’re Dead” ) those are just the tip of the very funky iceberg.

Some of the other tunes that got us grooving, “Need A Win”, which is the absolute perfect song to kick off such a stellar album. “Lazy Lover” and “Putt Strut” If we were to pick our favorite on the record ( which is almost impossible to do ) we would without question choose, “Long Weekend “ ( the bass line is more decadent than any piece of chocolate we have ever had) “Long Weekend “ is straight up spectacular.

While the sound is varied and genre-hops from one beat to the next, a rare throughline across Greetings from The Far Out extends both in plain sight and lurking just below the aural surface. The record’s title and postcard artwork – as well as the stamp-themed art for the four singles, all designed by Olivia Lowe with design assistance from her brother Ezra Lowe – are a throwback to Bruce Springsteen’s 1973 debut Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J. And Lowe admits there are some overarching lyrical elements at play across the eight tracks, though it takes a dedicated listen to delve deep beyond the upbeat music.

“Conversation Overtime” delves into the emotionally charged space where communication teeters on the edge of conflict. It captures the tension between holding back and speaking up, exploring how unspoken words can weigh just as heavily as the ones that are said in anger. With its mellow groove and introspective lyrics, it reflects the unsettling moment when a conversation stops being productive and starts to unravel.

The track opens with wistful piano, setting the stage for her soft-spoken yet emotionally charged vocals as she grapples with the surreal feeling of losing someone who was once so close. As she explains, “‘Dead to Me’ is about a very close relationship I had with someone that I don’t know anymore. It’s about missing that person but coming to terms with how the version of them that I knew no longer exists. There’s comfort in knowing we’ve both changed, but it’s also strange and surreal to reflect on.”

With its raw confessional tone and bittersweet honesty, every word feels deeply personal yet effortlessly resonates with anyone who has faced the ache of growing apart. Co-producing the track gave Avery the freedom to shape its sound, turning nostalgia and heartache into something beautifully cathartic and universally felt.

We were beyond delighted to check out the new single and video for “Echoes Still Remain “, from  Bay Area electro pop artist Matthew Nowhere. You can listen to “Echoes Still Remain” on Spotify Here on Apple Music Here You can also check out the video below

The stunning “Echoes Still Remain” from Matthew Nowhere , leaves a melodic imprint on your soul that is forever memorable.

Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area and currently residing in California’s Nevada County in the forests of the Sierra Mountains, Matthew Nowhere explores analogue synth-laden sounds of the 1980s with inspired reverence. Emerging from the intersection of old and new, his unique music weaves deep vibes and poetic lyrics with gritty New Wave beats.

“Echoes Still Remain”, is a moody and evocative offering. Ethereal vocals lace through a pulsating soundscape like a brooding rhythmic ghost of celebrated new wave pioneers.

Echoes Still Remain’ comes out of exploring ideas about the artistic process itself – the way in which a lonely whisper of inspiration in an artist’s mind can take flight and become realized as a concrete work. And in those rare cases, something that started as just a personal vision might even become immortal, something that lives on, becoming all these different things to different people,” says Matthew Nowhere.

On May 23, the‘Crystal Heights‘ album, now available for pre-order, will be released digitally and on Limited Edition transparent blue vinyl.

This album is about holding onto the old while stepping into the new. It’s a dialogue between the warmth and authenticity of the past and the stark, often dispassionate realities of our digital age,” says , Luke.

The album is a bold reflection on nostalgia, passion, and the paradoxes of modern life and fuses vintage soul, jazz, and cutting-edge electronic elements to create a sound both timeless and contemporary.

The honest truth is that Luke Marzec, has a timeless classic style that is omnipresent throughout “Something Good Out Of Nothing “ (Part A) . We often talk about listening to a collection of songs that are so good that, you can literally press play and walk away . This is certainly the case with “Something Good Out Of Nothing “ ( Part A)

Arriving with the latest single “Growing Up With You,” Part A sees Marzec crafting deeply personal, emotionally rich soundscapes that examine the tension between memory and change. The track—rooted in vintage R&B textures, hypnotic grooves, and intricate instrumental layering—is a tribute to the relationships that shape us. Inspired by the windswept landscapes of Dartmoor, England, Marzec manipulates a haunting saxophone drone through his Morphagene sampler, layering it with drums, bass, and piano to evoke the bittersweetness of nostalgia and the comfort of lifelong connections. Featuring live drums from David Beauchamp (Johnny Flynn & the Sussex Wit, Jeffrey Lewis & the Junkyard, Dr. Dog), the track captures an intimate, organic feel.

The album also includes earlier single “I Can’t Get You Out of My Mind,” an electrifying fusion of funk, soul, and jazz, delving into the emotional turbulence of heartbreak. Opening with swirling synth arpeggios before dropping into a mesmerizing groove, the song showcases Marzec’s ability to blend classic songwriting with forward-thinking production.

Marzec’s music is deeply intertwined with the places that inspire him. “I’ve been away for a few months, but I always find myself drawn back to London, where my network of musicians and closest collaborators are. At the same time, I can’t stay away from Buckfastleigh, Devon,” he shares. “It was an accident that brought me to Buckfastleigh. Two years ago, I was living on a narrowboat—a fully off-grid lifestyle. It was during this time that my good friend and collaborator Theo Batchelor came to join me and ‘Red Boletes’ was written, channeling the freedom of that we were lucky to feel during that era. When I sold the boat, I needed a change, and fate landed me here, looking after my mum and stepdad’s house while they traveled. And what I found in Buckfastleigh was a rare kind of magic.”

There is so much goodness and soulfulness happening on the new EP, you can tell that this is just the beginning and that there is most definitely more coming and we can’t wait.

Part A of Something Good Out of Nothing is out now, setting the stage for an eagerly anticipated Part B release later this year

We absolutely love the new single“Different People “ , JESSIA has one those voices that totally take your breath away and it is on full display on “Different People “

It’s been a milestone year for JESSIA who bravely transitioned to releasing music independently after parting ways with her label. Taking her future into her own hands, she presents her first independent project, Okay With Every Part. The 6-track EP includes hit songs like”The Woman You Are,” “Care About Me,” and “He’s a 10,” as well as three brand new tracks.

JESSIA opens up about her first independent project: Losing a label and a relationship within the span of 3 months shook me. I felt shame, rejection, anger, and frustration, but also freedom, adventure, passion, and resilience. As much as I didn’t want to, I had to learn to accept and move through these new obstacles. Each song on this project represents a pivotal moment in my journey to finding peace and confidence again. This EP represents me accepting the good and bad parts of life so that I can look back and say, I’m okay with every part.”

Today, we get our first listen of “Different People “ , one of the new tracks from the EP, is an emotionally resonant breakup anthem. “It’s about the no-contact stage of a breakup and all the intrusive thoughts that go along with it,” JESSIA explains of the relatable concept behind the song. “This song is for everyone resisting the urge to pick up the phone and text their ex. Instead of calling him, put this song on at full volume and go for a midnight drive.”

We will have “Different People “ on repeat as we wait for the new EP from JESSIA , “Okay With Every Part”

I’m a pro at masking my emotions and suppressing my feelings until I can deal with them later,” Leah reveals. “But the thing about emotions is they don’t wait for the most convenient time to bubble to the surface. This song is about surrendering to your mind and acknowledging how you’re feeling. Truthfully, that’s the only way to start the healing process.”

Leah Mason has found her place in pop music and she’s here to stay. The Nashville-based singer-songwriter, who People Magazine heralded as “an undeniable talent,” has captured the hearts and ears of millions since she burst onto the scene in 2021.

Determined to continue pushing the boundaries of her sound, Leah broke away from the familiar last year and ventured to Sweden to work with Simon Jonasson on her debut album, HEXED. After two and a half weeks, she emerged from the studio with a collection of meticulously crafted pop tracks. Across the album’s 12 tracks, she takes the intensity of young adulthood and bottles it up into a selection of universally relatable songs, ranging from tongue-in-cheek, angst-driven anthems to heartfelt musings. HEXED is without a doubt Leah Mason’s most confident, raw and real project to date.

We cannot wait to hear “HEXED” on August 9th because, we think it is going to be pretty special.

Wicked Bears- Without A Doubt Shine Bright With Wicked Good New Video +Single “Hypothetically “

New Album “Underwater” via Wiretap Records out March 3rd

Where we’re from “Wicked” is deemed to mean that something is really good .

The same can be said for Salt Lake City pop punk trio Wicked Bears and their new single and video “Hypothetically” both are wicked good.

The band says, “”Hypothetically is not a love song. It is about the perils of love and the hope of love, but it’s not a love song. If, hypothetically, Hypothetically were a love song, it would probably closely resemble this song, but again, it’s not. If Hypothetically were a love song, it would be complicated like love, and moody and sentimental like love, which it is. But it’s not a love song, so don’t even think about it!”

“Hypothetically “ is a perfectly written pop punk gem that we have been running on repeat in the office . It’s the perfect song to hold us over till “Underwater” comes out March 3rd.

Your Wednesday Just Got Better…..joan new single/visual announce debut album via Photo Finish Records

You can listen to the brand new single “Flowers on Spotify and Apple Music

We are so excited that alt pop duo joan today announce details of their long awaited debut album superglue, out April 19th via Photo Finish Records. The twelve-track full length is over three years in the making, following their beloved EPs portra, cloudy, hi and bye, and is an existential journey influenced by the duo’s recent transition into fatherhood.

joan explain: “It’s totally wrecked our world and we both have been going through a lot of the same growth that comes alongside being a parent. It’s changed our whole process of writing, and way more than just like having a kid and making every song about them. It’s made us think more about who we are as people, what we want to put into the world and what we want to get out of it, just reflecting on life way more than I think we ever have. This album as a whole is about the past and the present happening at the same time, it’s about dreams for the future and hoping for a better tomorrow but missing yesterday. It’s by far the best and most meaningful music we’ve ever made, it has something for everyone, and we hope it means something to you too.”

To accompany the news they’ve also shared the record’s second single and video ‘flowers’, the last song joan wrote for the album which became one of their personal favorites. The highly emotive and nostalgic narrative discusses how time is fleeting and how people grow and change, paired with wistful acoustic guitar riffs under cinematic synths and heartfelt melodies. The accompanying video shows captures joan’s riveting performance against bright hues of yellow.

You can check out the video for “Flowers” below

The band share “I remember running around the streets of my best friend’s neighborhood after midnight, skipping around from friend to friends house. I remember rushing to my friend’s house after school to rehearse our new songs in his garage. I remember driving around town after the sun went down just because we could. you make so many memories in those formative years. You never think to yourself, “this won’t last forever”. but then you grow. It happens slow – years go by, seasons change. That’s just life. If you’re lucky, some of those people stick around. but for a lot of us, you’re left asking, “why don’t we talk anymore?”. That’s what this song is to us.”

You can check out the video for “Flowers” below
