‘CTRL ALT DEL’ is about the rise of A.I. and where we all fit in as things change with that technology,” says Parts Per Millionguitarist and vocalistPaul Mcsweeney. “It’s kind of a scary feeling to imagine being replaced in areas where we have always been needed. We’re on the cusp of a revolution that actually may hurt humanity as a whole if we don’t also rethink some of our social constructs and just put people out of jobs that may never return. That’s not even getting into the ultra scary idea of this thing sort of going full Skynet mode.”
The powerful“CTRL ALT DEL” was recorded at The Halo Studio in Portland, Maine, produced and mixed by the band’s longtime collaborator Kevin Billingslea (Lamb of God, Trivium, The Pretty Reckless), and mastered by Ted Jensen of Sterling Sound (The Eagles, Green Day, Norah Jones). Mcsweeney brought what he calls “riff salad” to the rest of the band – guitaristS. Brian Bailey; bassistAlex Marks; and former drummerJake French, since replaced behind the kit by Brad Griffen – and the group worked together to flesh out the track, allowing for changes in the studio to develop it into its final form.
The sonic and melodic presence on “CTRL ALT DEL” is absolutely mind blowing. Parts Per Million brilliantly have crafted your new favorite song, you just don’t know it yet.
So find the perfect spot and crank “CYRL ALT DEL “ all the way up and enjoy .
We recently had the distinct honor to check out the new single “Girl With No Name” via Wicked Cool Records from acclaimed singer and songwriter Steve Conte. (New York Dolls, Michael Monroe )
You can listen to “Girl With No Name” on Spotify Here and on Apple Music Here
New York City guitarist, singer-songwriter Steve Conte is back– following the summer release of his single “Fourth Of July” (co-written with Andy Patridge of XTC)– with his latest track “Girl With No Name.”
Conte says, “This is a song of regret…about missed opportunity and lack of skills in meeting someone you’re attracted to.
“When putting my new album together, I was looking for songs that would fit nicely alongside the songs that Andy Partridge and I had written for it and I kept thinking of this one. I wrote it back in 1984 and never forgot it – which was a good sign.
Because it came to me so long ago I can’t exactly remember my process for writing it, except that since I was young & single at that time I was probably experiencing these kinds of situations & feelings on a daily basis!
Musically, I can hear what was influencing me back then; mid 60s Beatles, mid 80s XTC, and that beloved Motown groove from a certain Diana Ross & The Supremes song…”
A follow-up LP to Conte’s acclaimed 2021 solo album Bronx Cheer, is expected in early 2024 via Steven Van Zandt’sWicked Cool Records.
Steve Conte is an absolute guitar legend known for his memorable guitar work as a member of New York Dolls, as well as former Hanoi Rocks frontman Michael Monroe’s band (with whom he still performs), Steve found international fame in recent years via his collaborations with Japanese composer and artist Yoko Kanno on the soundtracks to several hit anime series, including Cowboy Bebop.
We instantly fell for the well crafted and memorable “Girl With No Name” , from Steve Conte . We found ourselves humming and singing “Girl With No Name” everywhere we went whether it was the bank or the grocery store “GirlWith No Name “ is song you won’t soon forget.
We can’t wait for more music from the amazing Steve Conte
We recently had the amazing opportunity to check out rising electronic/rock act SOPHIE SHREDZ and her electrifying new single “EYEZ ON ME” which, drops today (September,29th )
You can listen to “EYEZ ON ME” on Spotify Here and on Apple Music Here .
We were absolutely floored when we heard “EYEZ ON ME”SOPHIE SHREDZ has a style and vibe that is straight up otherworldly. In other words… she flat out rocks .
Blending exhilarating hyper-pop production with infectious pop melodies and classic rock instrumentation, she delivers an explosion of personality with each new release.
Sophie’s new single, “EYEZ ON ME,” is a frantic explosion of vibrant synths, heavy-hitting bass, and distorted vocals.“‘EYEZ ON ME’ is about a time in my life when I was getting a lot of negative attention and it felt like all eyes were on me,” she explains.
Instead of wallowing, she transformed her pain into a rebellious anthem about embracing the attention of the spotlight. “This song was a huge turning point in my life. I realized I didn’t care about what anyone thought about me. It’s about regaining confidence and making the best of bad situations.” To put it simply, “EYEZ ON ME” is the ultimate IDGAF anthem!
SOPHIE SHREDZ is the project of New Jersey-born, Nashville-based vocalist, songwriter, and guitarist Sophie Ruggiero. She was raised listening to classic rock greats like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and Heart, and became an avid guitar player by the age of 7. While her current sound certainly draws influence from the experimental electronic world of hyper-pop, she also imbues her songs with a tapestry of classic rock influences, like show-stopping guitar solos and driving percussive elements.
We 100% need people like SOPHIE SHREDZ filling our ears and souls with amazing music . “EYEZ ON ME “ is so electrifying that we are pretty sure it could bring traffic to a complete stop.
Sophie is redefining what it means to be a modern day pop star — she’s bold, evocative, openly queer, and a fierce advocate for female empowerment. Her music reflects her own personal and artistic growth and experiences, making it both relatable and authentic. She hopes her music will inspire others to pursue their dreams and unlock a new level of confidence within themselves.
There is something truly special about listening to a really really good record…. It is like time is paused , and all you can feel and hear is the music. Boston based Paper Tigers have offered up their extraordinary debut record “Charmer” to the universe and it’s phenomenal.

It is highly appropriate that the treasure trove of wondrous rock music on “Charmer” is being released on a Tuesday. There was a time when all the great and important music was released on a Tuesday. Paper Tigers are a throwbackand their debut is both great and important.
Paper Tigers formed in Allston in 2019 and quickly weathered a global pandemic, a venue crisis in their home city, a growing national hostility to the arts and those who create it, and collective whirlwind of insanity that seems to mark each day. Charmer, and all its furious ambition, is the ultimate release for Paper Tigers, a burning exhale that follows a string of four EPs and several singles, including last year’s breakout “I Wish Someone Would Have Told Me This Sooner” (which secretly contained a snippet of the new album’s title track). -( If you are scoring at home we think containing a snippet of the new album’s title track is absolutely brilliant)
Charmer is a rock record with a pop polish, and a pop record with rock edge; the more the listener peels back each lyrical and sonic layer, tying together the band’s disparate sound that incorporate post-punk, grunge, Britpop, and American indie, the more reality’s grim nature starts to come into view.
If we’re being honest ( and trust we always are ) We are absolutely enthralled with Paper Tigers and their debut album “Charmer “ We haven’t felt this way since we first heard a certain band from Seattle in the 90’s
“We’re proud of this album,” declares PaperTigers. “With each release, we pushed ourselves both in terms of songwriting and production and this was the culmination of everything we learned about both. It represents the very best we’re capable of and we wouldn’t change a thing about it. With every song we write or piece of art we create, we just hope it connects with our audience in some special way. This LP represents our most thought-out and effortful body of work to-date. We’re hoping it elevates our fan’s perspective of the band and that they’re drawn back to it, many times.”
Repeated listens is where the elements begin to shine: The razor-sharp guitarwork and production of Bjarki Guðmundsson; the heavy, absorbing basslines of MatthewHughes; the thunderous drums and atmospheric percussion of Ben “Cutty” Cuthbert; and the sardonic vocals of Michael Medlock, a man with a street preacher urgency hellbent on warning the world both of the dangers within and an optimistic way out.
Paper Tigers are a band that is musically on a different level. Like highly skilled precision craftsmen , Paper Tigers have created an absolute masterpiece with their amazing debut album “Charmer”
From heralding the age of revolution and its dissemination through media (“Pariah”) to ‘90s grunge-era conspiracy theories (“Soft Focus”), Charmer is a lyrically confrontational album as Medlock registers and relays the world around him. As he sings in the swirling, paranoid album track “The Drugs Are Kicking In”: “Modern living made life easy / But it also made us angrier.”
“The lyrics on Charmer are both anecdotal and narrative,” the band admits. “Sometimes Michael is singing from his own perspective and other times he’s writing fiction. His lyrics orbit around love, loss, personal life experiences and his hopes for the future.”
We honestly were consumed almost immediately with this record. Intoxicating melodies mix with flawless vocals , there isn’t a bad track on “Charmer” . We found ourselves singing along almost instantly. Standouts on “Charmer” include “Sandcastle”, “Animals” and the two scorching summer singles “Wedding Cake” and “Into That Good Night”
The storylines that emerge through the calculated noise are plentiful, and remain open to listener interpretation. But one aspect of “Charmer” that was made clear from the start was the ability to convey these songs in a precise and crystalline manner, made possible in part by work done at both Paper Tigers’ home studio at Cataclysmic Records in Brighton, and with recording engineer Alex Allinson at The Bridge Sound and Stage just across the Charles River in Cambridge.
“In the past, we’ve tried to do as much as we can by ourselves,” saysPaper Tigers. “There was a time when we saw it as a way to speed up the learning curve of being a band. It would have been fun to go into a proper recording studio for the first EPs, but we needed to do all that homework and run into all the obstacles to progress as a band and songwriters. We met up with Alex Allinson at The Bridge and pitched the idea of tracking live versions of the songs in the studio, to capture drums. We ended up getting so much more than drums during that one-day session, thanks to Alex. He went above and beyond, made us feel comfortable, and was able to dial in the perfect sound in a matter of seconds. Having those great-sounding tracks from Alex made the process so much easier, and because of that, we could allocate more of our time to the creative side of production than before.”
We strongly feel that listening to music should be a memorable experience. Paper Tigers deliver a memorable musical experience with their impressive debut album “Charmer” that you won’t soon forget.

Crafted over the course of three intense years, DIY, recorded at Humm Studios with Dom Mitchison (Heavy Lungs, The Manatees, Pet Shimmers), mixed by Ky Witney (The Naturals) and mastered by Pete Maher (Pixies, Jack White, The Rolling Stones), is the result of his ambition to produce an authentic album that reflects himself and what he believes in. He explores his own mental health struggles, relationships, substance abuse, and the impact of his religious upbringing throughout the album.
“DIY” is an absolute treat , Ed Jefferson has crafted an absolute gem.
“DIY” opens with the sonically pleasing track “Landlubber” , the track sets the perfect tone for a collection of outstanding songs.
“DIY” is filled with absolutely infectious grooves, one of our favorite’s is “Equator “
“Silencer” is an absolutely blazing track . We found ourselves singing along to this one well after the music stopped.
We try to always pick a favorite track when we do an album review however, with “DIY” we actually have two …. The first one is “Filthy” We can say with absolute certainty that, “Filthy” is one of the best songs we have heard all year ( So Far) “Filthy “ is a brilliantly crafted track that just flat out rocks .
The other track that we couldn’t get enough of is “Menace” sonically and melodically pleasing. We might have scared a few people grooving to this on the highway but , it was well worth it
