We recently had the epic opportunity to check out the new single, “The Flood” via ENCI Records, from Southern California’s genre-defying rock outfit SUNBENDR
“The Flood” from SUNBENDR, is an electrifying, musical gift that feels more like a magnificent musical adventure than a song .
The Flood”, is the second release from SUNBENDR’s powerful five-song session with acclaimed producer George Perks. Recorded between Tom DeLonge’s private studio and Chris Prescott’s Belly of The Whale Studio, the track captures the band at full creative strength.
“The Flood” is SUNBENDR using all of our powers,” says drummer/vocalist Chris Coté. “The theme has a lot to do with making tough decisions and trying to better yourself through that process. It’s got the anthemic moments, the tender moments, the layers, the psychedelic stuff, and a driving feel that hopefully takes listeners on a journey.”
The Flood from SUNBENDR , has all the makings and feels of a classic cinematic moment playing out on the silver screen.

Over the past few months, we have had the extraordinary opportunity to witness the musical brilliance of 22-year-old UK-born, San Diego-based singer-songwriter, Pip Lewis. Today that brilliance reaches new heights as she has released her sophomore full-length album Growing Pains via Enci Records.
Every song on “Growing Pains”, from Pip Lewis, is an amazing gift that we felt deep within our music loving soul.
A sonic autobiography,”Pip says of the album. “It’s basically my journal for the years 2021–23. It’s woven with the fibers of my identity as an artist and as a person, and with pieces of what my life looked like at the time of writing it.”Across ten emotionally resonant tracks, Growing Painsexplores themes of love in its many forms—the presence of love, the absence of love, the loss of love, and the rediscovery of it—as well as the quiet upheaval that comes with change.
It’s grappling with the idea of growing up and sometimes growing apart from familiarity,” Pip adds. “It’s the epitome of ‘it is what it is.’ The lyrics and narratives in the album don’t fight the enormity of the emotions expressed throughout the songs. The emotions are conveyed and left in the lap of the listener. From then on, the listener decides how to interpret the stories, thoughts, and feelings.”

Some of our favorite gems from “Growing Pains” include, “Baby Teeth”, “Safe & Sound “, “Dead Ringer and “Convincingly “
One of the songs that really stands out on “Growing Pains”, is “When It Comes To You,” an intimate and emotional track that began with a prompt Pip gave herself:“trying to write something that sounds like what falling in love feels like.”Originally built around its orchestral-style chorus, the song evolved organically into a dreamy, aching meditation on connection, vulnerability, and emotional surrender. Her latest single, “Funeral,” is a haunting reflection on unrequited love and emotional absence, capturing the uncertainty of growing up through the lens of imagined loss and longing.
Pip says, ““Funeral” is the final track on my upcoming album, “Growing Pains.” It’s a desperate recounting of a yearning, bittersweet love—a sonic clinging at the knees of a lover who is not fully present. As the ending of “Growing Pains,” it reads almost like a eulogy for someone who hasn’t died yet. The narrator is asking morbid questions like… What would my funeral look like? Would this lover grieve my loss? Would he feel guilt? Would he even cry?”
She adds, “Ultimately, “Funeral” dwells in the uncertain—and that is much of what “Growing Pains” is. The album exists across past, present, and future, asking questions both internally (to the self) and externally (to the subject). Growing up is inherently uncertain. It’s about dealing with love and loss and pain and moving on for the first time. “Funeral” is the ultimate epilogue of those emotions.“
Pip Lewis, continues to show why she is an artist that deserves our complete attention. “Funeral” is a hauntingly beautiful crafted song that is simply otherworldly.

Her forthcoming album, Growing Pains, weaves introspective lyrics with ethereal soundscapes, capturing the raw emotions of change and self-discovery. Her latest single, “Baby Teeth,” now streaming alongside a new music video, explores the bittersweet nature of loss and the struggle between holding on and letting go.

Pip says, “The imagery in ‘Baby Teeth’ is all about things that are once important but become neglected over time: a sweet melting and hardening in a car door, a dog-eared book never finished, a takeaway receipt kept for no real reason.”
She adds, “The chorus, with the tooth metaphor, is especially striking. Losing a baby tooth is inevitable, a sign of growing up, but there’s also a choice in how it happens—rip it out quickly or let it fall out slowly. It plays with the idea that the narrator knows that they’re being left behind but is unsure if they should just end it or let the loss drag on. It explores the question as to whether it is more uncomfortable to let go willingly or to suffer until the bitter end?”
Pip Lewis, has a voice. sound and vibe that is welcome change in a sometimes mundane musical landscape. We look forward to her upcoming album, “Growing Pains“

Dead Ringer”is taken from Pip’s forthcoming album, “Growing Pains”
“Dead Ringer” has a haunting presence and tone that makes you immediately take notice. Pip Lewis, gives a flawless and commanding vocal performance . Pip Lewis, uses stunning melodies and meaningful lyric to tell a vivid and memorable story with “Dead Ringer”
Pip says, “”Dead Ringer” was one of the earliest songs written for my upcoming album “Growing Pains” and it has a strong 80’s influence. I first got the idea for the track when I was listening to the iconic drum intro on “Blue Monday” by New Order. I sought out some samples of the iconic Linn drum machine (used on tracks such as “Purple Rain” and “1999” by Prince and “Radio Ga Ga” by Queen) and got to work producing the demo of what became “Dead Ringer.”
The song is an offbeat commentary on the line between the person and the performer. Who is Pip Lewis as a person? Who is she as a performer? Is the struggle of the person part of the allure of a performer?
I had grown up watching Joy Division’s lan Curtis performances with my father. Curtis would often have epileptic seizures on stage and it struck me then that it seemed like sometimes showmanship and suffering were synonymous. Who’s to say what is dancing and what is seizing?”
Pip Lewis, has crafted an absolute work of art with her latest single, “Dead Ringer, we can’t wait to see what she does next.

You owe it to your music loving heart to check out PipLewis , and her new single “Safe&Sound”
“Faded” off the band’s upcoming debut LP ‘Certified’, due out this summer on ENCIRecords.
“Faded” marks the outfit’s first new music since 2022’s ‘Welcome To Confusion’ EP, which was praised by the likes of Alternative Press, Under The Radar, Remezcla, Buzzbands LA, The Honey Popand more.
Guitarist/vocalistAngel Mariscalsays, “’Faded’ is about two people being under the influence too often. It seems like a fun thing, but it’s not healthy. You see how bad it is in retrospect.”
I think this is the most bedroom song in the entire album because i literally made the entire thing in my room and just wanted the song to sound fun and short. I’d call this song a call back to how I started making music which was just that, all in the computer, all in one room next to my bed.”
We love the style and sound of “Faded” from Los Saints. They make music that you can feel in your soul, we can’t wait for more
