Museum Of Light, are the absolute masters of being able to brilliantly sculpt sound in to beautifully sonic and melodic works of art , “Born All Wrong”, is no exception.

Drummer Rob Smith says, As with much of Diviner, “Born All Wrong” is a continuation of all the things that interested us on our first record, just taken further. The heavy stuff is heavier, the pretty stuff is prettier, and the weird stuff is weirder. The song dives into some of the expanded sonic palette that sets this record apart from Horizon. Here, we used a new, lower tuning, replaced some of the synth parts with a human voice (Elissa Alvarez, who is all over this record), and even mixed in some of the crashing waves and sea birds we heard outside the studio window as we worked. The big riff that anchors the first half of the song was written several years ago when we were between bassists. So, we were leaning more on huge, monolithic ideas that sounded good with the guitar running through both guitar and bass amps at the same time. As one of the older songs on the album, we weren’t sure if if was going to make the cut, but as soon as we heard playbacks in the studio, we all had the same thought: ‘well, that’s definitely making the record.”

“Undone” , from Museum Of Light shines like a bright beacon of sound that you simply can not ignore.

Guitarist Ted Alvarez tells RevolverIt’s a bit strange for us to pick singles. Obviously we want people to enjoy each song on its own terms and listen however they desire. But we’re massive fans of the classic LP format, and for “Diviner” we wanted to expand what we started on “Horizon” and really design the record as something that’s hopefully most rewarding when it’s absorbed in one sitting. It might be an old or antiquated idea, but it’s our tiny way of pushing back against everyone’s attention being atomized and split in a million directions. That said, “Undone” has been a set ender for a while, so it proved its mettle as a banger long before the album took shape.”

When it comes to meanings or feelings, I think we’re way more into creating images and suggestions that feel real and true, but opaque enough that the listener is really attaching their own specific story. This one’s maybe a bit more concrete in that I think we tried to bottle the collapse of a relationship when it feels most catastrophic — mountains are crumbling, the earth is literally trying to swallow you up. But even after you’ve been buried, you can see a little light coming through the cracks, if that makes any sense.”

Museum Of Light’s sound brilliantly blends crushing, heavy swagger with ethereal, sparkling melodies, creating a dynamic, otherworldly atmosphere that combines raw intensity with haunting, operatic vocals and poetic, existential lyrics.

Guitarist Ted Alvarez says, ““Blunt Force Drama” is a bit representative of the whole recording experience in that the basic structure existed for a while, but it only really took shape at Ocean Sound. You can spend a lot of time rehearsing and think, “yeah, this could be a cool song,” but it’s largely in your mind until you hear all the unknowns — new bassist, new voices, crazy location — fall into place. In my memory, this one came early and quick. I can recall Scott (Evans) blasting an early mix while staring out across a damn fjord and thinking, ‘alright, we might be on to something.’ Not all the songs came together that easily, but I’m glad this one did because it set a bit of a road map for the giant sounds and moods we were going for.”

The melodic tapestry on “Blunt Force Drama” washes over you as a perfectly balanced wave of sound. We were beyond moved by this stunning musical composition.

Spiders From Uranus Weave Epic Debut Single “It Don‘t Love You”

We recently had the amazing opportunity to check out the debut single “It Don’t Love You” from Seattle band Spiders from Uranus, the new project from former members of 80s PNW punk veterans Young Pioneers

You can listen to “It Don’t Love You” on Spotify Here and on Apple Music Here and you can check out the video below

We love everything about “It Don’t Love You” from Spiders From Uranus. They have a sound and a infectious DIY spirit that rings loud and clear on “It Don’t Love You”

Songwriter Chris Pugh formerly of Young Pioneers, Pet Projects, Creep, Saba, and many more. Pugh tapped longtime collaborators Colm Meek, who played with Pugh in Creep and Saba, as well as in a project called Heliotrope, and Scott Vanderpool, who played in Young Pioneers as well as Chemistry Set, to form Spiders of Uranus.

The album’s single “It Don’t Love You” is a flaming, raucous spin around the streets of a city that is not what you hoped it would be. “It’s about having your city grow and change and not be the place it once was. Having your city become a place that’s too expensive for weirdos and artists to thrive.” Pugh says of the song, which finds its hook in the contagious harmonies of Pugh and Vanderpool: “You love this city but it don’t love you.” Shame and disconnect rear their heads for the briefest moments, ugly truths delivered with fiery rock and roll that doesn’t wait for anything. At the end of it all, we’re left with the sense that in some reality, the weirdos and the artists are thriving; they’re leaving it all on the stage.
