Tolü Makay Delivers Stunning New Single “Mind&Body”

We had the amazing opportunity to check out the new single “Mind & Body” from Nigerian-Irish singer & songwriter Tolü Makay

You can listen to the absolutely mesmerizing “Mind&Body” Here

Sometimes a song can move you beyond words, this is definitely the case with “Mind & Body” from Tolü Makay.

Mind & Body” was co-written with and produced by Steph Marziano (Phoebe Bridgers, Hayley Williams, Odesza) and mixed by Dan Grech-Marguerat (Lana Del Rey, MUNA, George Ezra).

On “Mind & Body,” Tolü’s strong, soulful vocals take center stage, elevated by a lush bed of ethereal production. Speaking on the poignant message behind the song, she says, “’Mind & Body’ explores the anxiety we feel when our body is numb to the moment while our mind is drowning in senses, screaming for us to be present in the here and now. It’s about allowing ourselves to breathe, about taking care of our bodies, about being present even when everything is moving so rapidly. In this cultural moment we are so concerned and cornered by our thoughts, our appearance, our voices and narratives that we tell ourselves. It is so hard to simply just be. ‘Mind & Body’ is a reminder to be present. To come together. Not just with yourself, but with each other. In Mind and Body.”

We found ourselves connecting deeply with beautiful melodies with “Mind&Body” Tölu Makay, has the kind of voice that once you hear it once , it will be next to impossible to forget .

Moving from Nigeria to Ireland at the age of five, Tolü found solace in music as a young girl navigating life in a new country. Music was a way for her to make sense of her emotions, discover her identity, and connect with a wider community. She began singing in church at the age of 8, which led her to enter and subsequently win a national gospel singing competition as a teen.

Tolü strives to create songs that will forever inspire, heal and touch generations to come as she encounters and shares the challenges she faces and growth she experiences in her own life. One of her earliest singles, “Goodbye,” became anthemic across the UK and Ireland, amassing over 2 million streams and counting. With her subsequent singles, she has continued to capture the hearts of listeners everywhere, cementing herself as a strong voice for Black women and artists.

Her first single of 2024, “Mind & Body,” kicks off what is sure to be an exciting year of new music and new experiences for Tolü. On March 1st, she will be making her debut on RTÉ One’s The Late Late Show, one of the world’s longest running late-night shows. She will then be heading stateside to perform for The Ireland Funds at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.

We Are Absolutely Smitten With The Latest Single “Used By You” From Caroline Romano

We recently had the opportunity to check out the new single “Used By You “ from rising Nashville based Alt-Pop singer Caroline Romano.

You can listen to “Used By You” from Caroline Romano Here.

Over the course of her last few singles – “girl in a china shop,” “Tell Her I Said Hi” and “Used by You” – Caroline has unveiled a bolder sound ( Which , we absolutely love) that blends her pop sensibilities with dynamic alt-rock instrumentation. But, as her sound continues to naturally evolve, her authentic storytelling never waivers. On “Used by You,” Caroline tells a relatable tale of unrequited love, set to a backdrop of melodic guitars and anthemic percussion.

“If I had to describe ‘Used by You’ in one word, I think that word would be brutal,” says CarolineIt’s unabashedly honest, blunt, and real. It’s a song about the side effects of unrequited admiration. It’s about loving someone to the point that you’re willing to move mountains for them, even when they’re not willing to move an inch for you. It’s the fear of losing someone so much, that’s you’d rather lose yourself just to keep them. In the name of being honest, no matter how terrifying, this is ‘Used by You.’”

At just 22-years-old, Nashville-based Caroline Romano has established herself as a versatile artist, effortlessly transitioning between misty-eyed ballads and fiery alt-rock anthems. Memorializing the highs and lows of young adulthood with her unflinchingly honest songwriting, Caroline has captured the hearts of fans and tastemakers alike.

Caroline Romano is an absolute musical tour de force, “Used By Use” is another absolute gem of a song from Caroline Romano, We can’t wait to see what she does next.

Päter Delivers Cinematic Gem With “Catching Cold”

We recently had the opportunity to check out the new single “Catching Cold” from Toronto based indie rock artist Päter.

You can listen to “Catching Cold” Here

On swells of cinematic strings, Päter’s latest single the nocturnal “Catching Cold,” chases elusive memories. During the writing process when the song’s pieces finally fell into place, Päter knew it was about their childhood immigration from Iran which left them with the feeling that something intangible was missing. Its sprawling piano offers a peephole into that recollection, the longing it brings, and the “endless itch in my coat” it has left.

In 2020, Parmida emerged as Päter with their first single “Dam, Damn,” a well-received debut that’s amassed 2.4M streams and counting. It opened the doors to the Päterverse, a sonic space inspired by coming-of-age narratives and Päter’s early influences (The Strokes, Kate Bush, Mother Mother) with writing that lives somewhere between Muse and Hillary Duff (yes, really).

The resultant mix’s compelling character and extravagance hint at artists like Neko Case, HAIM, and Fiona Apple with more dissonant forms of melody and harmony derived from the classical Iranian music absorbed during Päter’s youth. After two vibrant EPs, Päter’s forthcoming debut LP 4-7 Company explores the evening hours between work and social life when solitude leads to wandering thoughts.

We love the beautiful and majestic feel of “Catching Cold” Päter, brilliantly has put together a song that is truly a musical gift .

After two vibrant EPs, Päter’s forthcoming debut LP 4-7 Company explores the evening hours between work and social life when solitude leads to wandering thoughts.

During the writing process, which largely took place over their time in a theatre program, Päter was inspired to look inward and confront blocks that lived in their body and mind. It initiated a painful yet positive transition of examining depression and doubts, digging out demons, and charting chaos and cognitive dissonance to arrive at ease in their own company. Päter had long admired Juno-winning Howard Redekopp for his work with Mother Mother (also known for Tegan and Sara, the New Pornographers, Said the Whale) and was thrilled when he jumped on board to co-produce 4-7 Company. A highlight of the recording process was sourcing a vintage upright piano with a magical warm tone that showcased the songs’ intimacy, providing fruitful foundations for them to blossom.

Päter will be taking their upbeat, exuberant live show on tour for the first time, spanning Canada, the US, and eventually beyond. The self-directed video for 4-7 Company’s lead single “Nicotine Hallelujah” was an official selection at the 2023 Austin Under the Stars Film Festival as well as the 2024 Toronto Short Film Festival. 4-7 Company arrives in Spring 2024.

Gramercy Arms Delivers Epic New Single “After The After Party”

We recently had the spectacular opportunity to check out the new single “After The After Party” from NYC based band Gramercy Arms. You can listen to “After The After Party “ Here You can also check out the video for “After The After Party “ below

We are absolutely loving the latest single “After The After Party” from Gramercy Arms, revolving collective, masterminded by DAVE DERBY (The Dambuilders, Lloyd Cole) and producer RAY KETCHEM (Elk City, Guided By Voices, Luna) – presents ‘After the After Party’, a wistful power pop gem about chances missed and taken. Previewing their fourth album ‘The Making Of the Making Of’ (out April 26 via Magic Door Record Label, it features GUIDED BY VOICES’ Kevin March, JOAN AS POLICE WOMAN’s Rainy Orteca, Hilken Mancini (Fuzzy, the Monsieurs) and Mike Errico with video set against the backdrop of late-night footage of Manhattan and Brooklyn

Produced, recorded and mixed by Ketchem at Magic Door Recording in Montclair, New Jersey, award-winning engineer GREG CALBI (John Lennon, David Bowie, Bruce Springsteen, Talking Heads, Patti Smith, Tom Petty) was also involved in mastering.
The Spill Magazine calls this “a fabulous and fresh slice of positivity, wrapped up in a finely-tuned package of upbeat and harmonious pop-rock… Impeccably performed; superbly arranged and produced”.

I had the tune and general structure of the song lying around for a long time. For a long time I had the opening line ‘Do you suppose the door was already closed?” and the general vibe of the song but not much else. The song title and lyrical concept came for me while sitting at a bar in Brooklyn and overhearing a group of people talk about what they were going to do after an afterparty they were attending that night. I thought that that was a great title and general concept to anchor the song around. The song is about two people who’ve been chasing after each other for years but the stars never align until this one fated night where they are chasing after some magic that has been eluding them,” says Dave Derby

We love the melodic bliss of “After The After Party”,  Gramercy Arms have created an absolute gem of a track, that we simply can’t get enough of .

New Single “Shoot The Stars” Is Out Now Listen Here

We just received the best news… Renowned musician Steve Conte, known for his work with the New York Dolls and Michael Monroe, has revealed information about his forthcoming album, The Concrete Jangle,’ which serves as the successor to his 2021 opus ‘Bronx Cheer.’

“My new single ‘Shoot Out The Stars’ is another co-write with my songwriting hero, ANDY PARTRIDGE of XTC,” explains Conte. “When Andy & I got together on Zoom to have our writing sessions I threw out a bunch of titles – and among them was “Shoot Out The Stars.”

He liked it and said, “Oh yeah, we can do something with that” and then immediately started banging out those opening guitar chords and singing that verse melody. I then came up with the chorus and knew how that title should be sung.

We made the song about nihilism – bored teens in Hollywood out looking for thrills. Andy & I had a strong synergy going on…we got into a real groove when writing these songs.

For example, I had a line in the first verse where the kids say “Let’s drive out to the Hills and climb up on our cars…” and then in the 2nd verse Andy added, “The grown-ups are to blame for all the hurt we got – under the hood”. He may have meant it as the hurt kids have hidden inside, but I also see it another way. We never spoke about tying it in with their cars and I didn’t notice it until recently, but there it was. An Easter egg, the Partridge gift that keeps giving. There are a lot of these kinds of things in the songs.

And the song is in one of my favorite rock ‘n roll guitar keys, the key of B – really great for power pop. I went a bit psychedelic with it; using fuzz & backwards guitars as well as playing Mellotron (and my mandolin made an appearance!)

I hope you dig it baby!!”

We are over the moon about the vibe and for the latest single “Shoot Out The Stars “ Steve Conte delivers a stunning rock and roll gem with “Shoot Out The Stars” that you owe it to your rock and roll heart to check out .

The Dick Cavett Show’ Returns… for Five Minutes… And It Is Brilliant!

We recently had the absolute thrill to check out the magical new video for “Dick Cavett” from Marc Ribler’s Story Road. you can check out the video below

First we want just come out and say that this is probably one of the most creative videos we have seen in quite some time . The “Dick Cavett” video from Wicked Cool Record’s Mark Ribler’s Story Road is absolutely genius.

Renowned Rock n Roll figure Marc Ribler, a multifaceted artist (singer, songwriter, musician, and producer) who has served as the
longtime musical director for Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul
is living proof that dreams can indeed materialize.

Ribler explains, Like so many of us, I grew up with the Dick Cavett show. In retrospect it is eminently clear that Dick was one of the most important presenters of the rock ‘n’ roll renaissance, not to mention introducing all the key players in every awe-inspiring and earth-shaking event happening in our culture in the 60s, 70s and beyond.

I had a dream that one fine day I wrote a song called “Dick Cavett”, In some 5th dimension magical, mystical reality, Dick heard the song, loved it and asked if I’d like to come to his house to make a music video. Either I’m in a 60s time warp tripping my ass off, or this dream has come true. Many thanks to Dick and his lovely wife Martha – who also appears in the video.”

The “Dick Cavett” video was directed by longtime Cavett collaborator
Robert Bader and produced by SiriusXM Underground Garage personality
Rich Russo and Bader.

Ribler and his star-studded entourage — which includes Sopranos actors Maureen Van Zandt (“Gabriella Dante”) and Vincent Pastore (“Big Pussy”) — pay a visit to Cavett’s Connecticut residence, proving the old adage that the show must go on…

Featuring vintage clips of iconic guests like Jimi Hendrix, John Lennon and Yoko Ono, Janis Joplin, and many more from The Dick Cavett Show, Ribler’s “Dick Cavett” music video is a nostalgic, affectionate, and irreverent homage to the namesake of the song.

March 4, 2024 will mark 56 years since the culture-defining Dick Cavett Show premiered on ABC. The Emmy award-winning program featured interviews with major figures in pop culture, rock and roll, jazz, politics, art, literature, sports and beyond.

Co-written and co-produced by Ribler and Stevie Van Zandt, “Dick
Cavett” is the latest single off ‘Armageddon’, the new album from Marc
Ribler’s Story Road.

Marc Ribler’s “Dick Cavett” was recently named one of top 10 “Coolest Songs In The World” by listeners of SiriusXM’s The Underground Garage.

His band Story Road, features Ribler on guitar and vocals, Charley Drayton on Drums and Jack Daley on bass. For the latest album ‘Armageddon‘, the trio hunkered down in a rock n roll bunker called Dug Deep Studios and poured their hearts and souls into Ribler’s songs during the cold dark days of the COVID 19 pandemic.

Canyons And Locusts Deliver An Absolute Melodic Gem With “Love Goes Down The Drain”

New EP ‘The Red Angel’ is dedicated to Justine Covault and set for March release

We recently fell head over heels for the new single “Love Goes Down The Drain from Boston and Phoenix based melodic , noise rock duo Canyons And Locusts.

You can listen to “Love Goes Down The Drain” on Spotify Here and on Apple Music Here.

Canyons And Locusts greet the holiday of love , with one big shrug and one even bigger punch. “Love Goes Down The Drain “ delivers quite the sonic punch, clocking in at a 1:44 runtime, it’s gritty and to the point, and unlike a thoughtless Valentine’s Day gift, doesn’t overstay its welcome. vocalist and guitarist Justin Keane and drummer Amy Young offer up a solidarity shrug to all who just roll with love’s freewheeling punches.

Honestly, it’s pretty simple and the first two lines of the song say it all – ‘sometimes it’s out of reach, that’s why love goes down the drain’. Sometimes shit just falls apart and you can’t find the center anymore and that’s when things – relationships, friendships, fandoms, anything – get flushed down the toilet,” admits Keane.

Underneath the title, there’s the message that sometimes it’s out of our control and at the end of the day, that’s okay if you did everything you could,” Keane adds. “I hate hearing people feeling badly on Valentine’s Day and while I don’t begrudge the holiday or a great love song, I also kinda… eh. Sometimes it’s out of reach… that’s ok. You’re ok.”

Canyons And Locusts have a genuine and authentic sound that is a beautifully woven gift of musical energy that will warm your music loving soul. “Love Goes Down The Drain “ is the latest melodic, noise rock masterpieces that is museum worthy.

“YOUR BOYFRIEND SUCKS” marks a new era for Leah as she breaks away from her country roots and embraces a more pop-leaning sound. On her inaugural pop release, Leah collaborated with songwriter Sara Bares and songwriter/producer Simon Jonasson (Summer Walker, HWASA, Alan Walker) to create a catchy and relatable anthem that celebrates the importance of honest and empowering female friendships.

Leah elaborates on the inspiration behind the new song: I have this stunning, gorgeous, smart, outgoing, funny as hell friend that had been seeing this guy for a few months, and it felt like every week I heard her tell me the most awful stories about how he treated her. I was always so confused as to WHAT her infatuation with him was because he… sucked! She is THE best person and friend and she deserves to be treated that way! The song is brutally honest but I believe it’s for the better because that’s what a real friend does.”

Hailing from North Carolina and now based in NashvilleLeah Marie Mason’s sound knows no bounds. Her musical journey began at eleven, belting out iconic covers in a classic rock band. When she found her way to Nashville in 2019 to attend Belmont University, she soaked in the city’s diverse music scene and quickly emerged as a rising star in the country-pop world. Her 2023 debut EP, Honeydew & Hennessy, garnered millions of streams and drew comparisons by PEOPLE Magazine to contemporaries like Taylor Swift, Kelsea Ballerini, and Kacey Musgraves

Breaking away from the familiar, Leah ventured to Sweden last year to create her upcoming album, pushing the boundaries of her artistry and crafting a whole new sound. While undertaking this shift, Leah has still maintained her unique penchant for raw and vulnerable storytelling.

“Your Boyfriend Sucks” is the kind of song , that stays with you long after the music has ended. We are drawn both to the melody and the message of “Your Boyfriend Sucks”

As Leah readies her latest offering, a collection of meticulously crafted tracks set to release soon, she invites you to join her on this musical journey. “My only hope is that it can inspire someone else as well,” Leah declares, as she continues to redefine pop and make her music accessible to all. Get ready for a whole new chapter in the world of Leah Marie Mason.

We have a feeling Leah Marie Mason, is just getting warmed up and we can’t wait for what is next.

It retains the collective’s ability to craft tender, haunting songs that hang free in the gentle air they breathe, and supplies another captivating chapter in this collective’s unfolding story.

Gypsy Girl” is the third official single from Other Brother Darryl, an ever-expanding collective led by music scene veterans Dan Nicklin, Nate Leavitt, and Dan Cederholm. It’s a special song for the Americana and alt-country project, both in stature and spirituality, as it contains the vocals of late bandmate, co-writer, and close personal friend David Mirabella, the Boston Music Award-nominated musician who passed away unexpectedly in the spring of 2022.

‘Gypsy Girl’ is a nostalgic and regretful love story about losing someone you could never really have,” says Leavitt. “Fooling yourself into thinking you could be the one to change her or settle her down. The fascination of being someone we aren’t through someone else. Making promises to her in vain after she’s gone, wishing she would come back home knowing she won’t.”

The identity of this “Gypsy Girl” remains a secret, both by design and by human nature; the sweeping atmosphere that swirls around the track and cradles a heartfelt memory of something lost only adds to the intrigue.

I would love to tell who it is, but I can’t,” admits Nicklin. “Even if we change the names the person would know. So if you think it’s about you – you are probably right.” Leavitt, however, paints a more nebulous tone: “I actually don’t know who she is but I love singing about her. She’s both familiar and mysterious to me.”

It is next to impossible not love “Gypsy Girl” and Other Brother Darryl, The song and band are prime examples why we love music so much . There is this genuine and profound vibe and energy surrounding both the song and band that is simply magical.

Boston Based TELL Delivers A Treasure Trove Of Rock And Roll Greatness With Latest “Life In Reverse”

By: Jay Kameese

There is nothing quite like an amazing rock record . Boston based alt-rock band TELL(David Wildman, guitar and lead vocals, Jay Raffi, bass and vocals, Patrick Crann, drums and Jim Foster, guitar and vocals ) has done just that , with their new release “Life In Reverse” You can listen to the amazing body of work that is “Life In Reverse” on Spotify Here and on Apple Music Here

The Boston Alt-Rock band TELL, is fronted by longtime musician, writer, and novelist David Wildman. Today (February ,9th ) the band releases the amazingly cinematic album , “Life In Reverse, with the release party tonight at The Middle East in Cambridge.

We were absolutely mesmerized by the new single “Owned” , we are now realizing that “Owned” is only the beginning. “Life In Reverse “ was crafted by the band in the studio with producer Benny Grotto of Mad Oak Studios in Allston, MA It serves as a cathartic release of pent-up tension by harnessing the headlines that dominate our newsfeed and filtering them though anthemic and highly-memorable alternative rock. It’s both confrontational and comforting, and underneath its gritty bark is a collection of six shimmering tracks that glow out of the speakers – and may even inspire a dance party.

We were instantly enthralled with “Life In Reverse” from Tell . We were reminded of those records you couldn’t wait to get home to and listen to for hours . “Life In Reverse “ is that good….

Every song has an authenticity and an energy that draws not from the past but also offers a new vibe and sound that is welcomed in today’s otherwise mundane musical landscape.

We were immediately attracted to the addictive melody of “Sweet Life “ vocally “Sweet Life “ is absolutely stunning.

Our personal favorite on “Life In Reverse” is without question “Shell” it is a well crafted gem that has a gorgeous tone to it that gives it a real classic feel that we absolutely love .

“Lyrically, the album is awash in the experience we all have of living through these dark, weird times together, connected mostly through social media,” says Wildman. “It’s nearly impossible to avoid politics for me, so a number of the songs make reference to the cult-like mindset of a huge chunk of the population out there.”David Wildman .

With the honesty of “I wish I can Believe In God “ and the pure brilliant cinematic feel of “Space Time Continuum” – “ Life In Reverse “ from TELL is a musical experience that you cannot miss.

Artist Of The Day : February 8th 2024: Friendship Commanders

We are so excited to bring you our 3rd Artist Of The Day for 2024 – Nashville based indie rock duo Friendship Commanders, they have recently released epic concept record “Mass” .

We recently caught up with the duo ( Buick Adura, songwriter, vocalist and drummer/bassist Jerry Roe to talk about all things Friendship Commanders and of course all about “Mass” You can listen to “Mass” Here

The Whole Kameese: First off, we are so excited to get the chance to talk about your wonderful album “MASS.”

Buick Audra: Thank you so much! We appreciate you taking the time to talk about our new work!

The Whole Kameese: Can you introduce yourselves and your roles in the band?

Buick Audra: Hello, I’m Buick Audra, the vocalist, guitarist, and primary songwriter in Friendship Commanders.

Jerry Roe: Jerry Roe, and I play drums! I also play bass on our recordings.

The Whole Kameese: Your latest album “MASS” is a well-written and beautifully crafted body of work. Can you talk about the concept of the album?

Buick Audra: Thank you! The album is about my time as a teen and younger adult living in the Boston area. I had some experiences there during that timeframe that were intense and formative, but after I moved away from the area, I packed those memories up and put them away for a long time. When my friend Marc Orleans died, I started to remember my time there. He and I became friends when we were both part of the extended Boston music community and then we remained in touch after we both left. But his suicide took me right back to those days, and when I reviewed my experiences there through my current lens, they looked wild. So, I wrote a whole album about it. Ultimately, the record is about returning to what once almost took you down and being able to name the things that happened. Bullying, abuse, silence, complicity, loss, etc. I felt strongly about opening the album with BLUE because it has a message of hope, of survival, of living to tell. I think the thesis of the album is contained within the lyrical phrase, “If you don’t yet have the language for what you want to say, you will.”

The Whole Kameese: How was the writing process for “MASS”? Did it take a lot of time, or did it quickly come together?

Buick Audra: So, the first two songs I wrote for the record were A RETRACTION and FAIL, and they each unfolded kind of slowly, like over a couple of weeks. I tend to be a quick songwriter, usually completing a song in one sitting, so for it to take multiple days or weeks is uncommon. But those two songs took a while, and as they were coming to me, I became aware that I was writing about my time in Massachusetts. I leaned into that, and the rest of the album was written over a very short period of time. Less than two months total. The process involved a lot of listening to myself; remembering things I had long forgotten; grieving people, places, and things; and letting the music be whatever it wanted to be at first. Also, I tuned my guitars to four different tunings to give my ear some different options and not be stuck in riff or progression ruts. That benefited the writing process greatly.

The Whole Kameese: The album was recorded at God City in Salem, MA (which is right down the street from us) with Kurt Ballou. What was it like working with Kurt at God City in Salem?

Buick Audra: It was productive and fun! We had worked with Kurt as a mix engineer on several projects before we went up to Salem and tracked MASS with him, so we already had some professional and personal camaraderie. But the workflow was good, the vibe was easy, and we were thrilled with the results. He’s the dude.

Jerry Roe: Truly, it was fun, comfortable, and honestly very easy! He created an environment in which we could work with ease and challenged us in all the right ways. I greatly appreciated how much he cared about exploring tones and making sure we were getting all the sounds exactly right and how they should be. That doesn’t tend to happen all the time, and I feel like that’s one of the primary reasons why you’d ever want to record with someone else (versus doing it yourself). He’s the best at it, I think.

The Whole Kameese: Did the city of Salem influence the record at all?

Buick Audra: Not really, but it was a peaceful, safe place to make the record for sure. None of my history with Massachusetts took place in Salem, so it was a respite of sorts. Neutral ground. Loved it, can’t wait to return!

The Whole Kameese: For someone who has never heardFriendship Commanders, how would you describe your sound?

Buick Audra: I tend to say we make melodic heavy music, but if I were to put a finer point on it, I’d say it’s very heavy grunge with pop sensibilities and soulful vocals.

Jerry Roe: I guess I would say we’re sort of a sludgy doom grunge rock band with a big emphasis on songs and song structure.

The Whole Kameese: The album is accompanied by a memoir. Did the memoir come first or was it something that developed while recording?

Buick Audra: I wrote the album first, and then the memoir. The book is there to expand on the story contained within the music.Because the album is autobiographical, it seemed like a natural thing to go into more detail in prose. It was a lot of work to render both, but I’m so glad they exist as a set.

The Whole Kameese: How has it been playing the songs from “MASS” live? Is there a particular song that really stands out when playing live?

Buick Audra: I’ve loved playing the new work live; we toured for almost two months after the album came out last year, and it was so refreshing and empowering to perform the new songs I love all of them, but FAIL is intense for me to play because I wrote it about the death of my friend Marc. Musically, it’s a beast to pull off, but emotionally, it holds so much sentiment and truth for me. And every time we play it, I get to say, “For Marc Orleans.” Feels good to say his name. BLUE is a gift every night, no question.

Jerry Roe: BLUE really feels like an important stake in the ground, and a mission statement of sorts. We’ve been closing our shows with it, and it feels triumphant and heavy as hell all at the same time. Kind of like a big reward at the end of a 45-minute marathon. It’s wonderful to play.

The Whole Kameese: What is next for Friendship Commanders in 2024???

Buick Audra: We’re doing some more touring on MASS, we’re working on some new work that I’ve been writing, and we’re working toward getting the next body of songs together!

The Whole Kameese: Thank you so much for talking with us at The Whole Kameese, today. We hope that 2024 is an amazing year for Friendship Commanders.

Buick Audra: Thank you! Really appreciate your time and attention. Hope your year kicks ass

Wayland Delivers An Absolute Gem With “Other End”

Photo : Eric Ahlgrim

We recently had the opportunity to check out the new single and video for Other End” from heartland, country-rock duo hailing from the town of the same name in West Michigan.

You can listen to “Other End” on Spotify Here . You can also check out the video below

Frontman Mitchel Arnold and lead guitar player Phillip Vilenski met when touring the world teaching children music with Bill and Robyn Brawley of Heart Global. They left the UK with their first batch of songs and set off to build a fanbase that nobody could take away from them.

They toured the country independently for seven years selling out venues as a headliner all over the midwest, opening for crossover acts like Shinedown, Lifehouse, Colt Ford, Blackberry Smoke, and Buckcherry, securing slots on major, national rock festivals, and building relationships with radio stations all over the country by singing three part harmony at seven am live on air on radio and television. The band won two official Sixthman Cruise competitions which landed them slots on the Kiss Kruise and Bon Jovi Cruise.

Crafted in the seclusion of a Michigan cabin, “Other End” stands as a testament to Wayland’s evolution amid personal growth, catalyzed by Phillip’s (lead guitar player) transformative journey following a poignant divorce. The serene Michigan woods provided the backdrop for Phillip’s introspection, influencing the emotionally charged single. Returning to Joshua Tree, CA, and collaborating with Mitch, (lead singer) the duo birthed a song capturing the raw essence of personal struggle and growth—a visceral response to seven years of relentless touring, experiencing the toll on hearts and the band itself.

A milestone in Wayland’s career, “Other End” marks the first release solely produced by Phillip. The creative process unfolded in Joshua Tree, California, where the band pushed beyond their comfort zone, seamlessly blending rock, country, and bluegrass influences.

“Other End” from Wayland feels like a perfectly crafted bottle of fine whiskey, carefully constructed and nurtured to give the listener a full and authentic musical experience that they soon won’t forget.

Do yourself a favor and find a comfortable spot and enjoy “Other End” from Wayland , you won’t regret it.

Lonely Leesa & the Lost Cowboys Deliver Powerful Video For “Stayed 2017”

Boston alt-country rock band led by Leesa Coyne delivers a poignant and powerful music video, via Rum Bar Records

We recently had the chance to check out the new video for “Stayed 2017” from Lonely Leesa & The Lost Cowboys. You can watch the video for “Stayed 2017” below

“Stayed 2017 , is the powerful new video from Lonely Leesa & the Lost Cowboys. In the visual, out today, In the visual, out today, Leesa Coyne of the Boston-based Americana rock band confronts issues of domestic violence with a confessional, raw, and vulnerable plea aimed to draw attention to an upcoming Supreme Court ruling that will determine if domestic abuse orders can prevent abusers from owning and possessing handguns.

“Stay 2017 , is an important and powerful video that needs to be heard and seen. It combines something old and something new for Coyne, as she revisits a song first released as a b-side to her “Reckless” single seven years ago and pairs it with an impactful, first-person video directed, produced, edited and shot on an iPhone by the Boston artist and musician herself. A few days after the video goes live, Lonely Leesa & the Lost Cowboys perform live at The Burren in Somerville, on Friday, January 26.

The tender, but tense, alt-country track was first released in 2017, autobiographically written from the point-of-view of a woman unable to escape an abusive relationship. But Coyne revisited “Stayed” for a self-directed and self-produced music video in light of recent events.

For Coyne, who was inspired to pair “Stayed 2017” with her vision for the video after listening to Amicus Podcast’s November 2023 episode titled The Right To Bear Arms and Terrorize Your Partner, the time to raise awareness on this issue – and continue to highlight the perils many women face daily while trapped in abusive relationships and domestic violence situations – was never more important than right now.

While a new album from Lonely Leesa & the Lost Cowboys is set to arrive in the spring via the band’s new home of Rum Bar Records, Coyne is eager to show solidarity with women across the country as the Supreme Court ruling looms just months away.

I hope this video helps someone else who has been suffering in silence to feel less alone and that it raises awareness of the United States v. Rahimi case ruling in the spring and what that could mean for the safety of many,” Coyne says. “Guns in the hands of domestic abusers equals death. One in four women and one in nine men experience severe intimate partner physical violence, and lots of folks in the United States own guns. It is literally a life-or-death situation for many. I am not sure if folks are aware of how common this is… [my goal is] not to normalize it, but just to show that we all have folks in our lives who could surely use some understanding and support.”

Coyne says she has had the thematic idea for “Stayed 2017″ in her head for a few years, dating back to when the song was first released. The track, which is also being re-released by Rum Bar in tandem with the video premiere, was produced, engineered, and arranged by Brian E. King; engineered by Elio DeLuca at the Soul Shop in Medford, MA; and mixed by Josh Cohen at Black Hat Music, also located in Medford.

For the video, Coyne stripped it all down – literally and figuratively – to reflect the raw vulnerability a person must face when confronting an abusive partner. It finds her alone, in the shower, engaging with the camera as the water rains down on her. It’s enough to wash away the day’s makeup, but not the physical marks left behind by physical abuse.

This video I just wanted to be simple,” Coyne admits. “I wanted to shoot it myself on my phone. From a practical perspective to pull the veil back a bit, if I was doing the whole thing myself and the budget was zero dollars and cost only my time. Most importantly, I don’t think I could have been as vulnerable if other folks were around filming me. I also feel like with a lot of things in the arts there are not a lot of women filmmakers, and I really wanted this to come from the voice of a woman without a man’s perspective coming in to edit it or tone it down.”

It is important to stand up and take a stand and champion the things you believe in . Leesa Coyne has done this with a powerful and meaningful visual for “Stay 2017”

Dorian Williams II, known professionally as Skateland, is an American singer, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist based in Austin, TX. After moving from Las Vegas to pursue a degree at the University of Texas, Williams began writing songs and experimenting with various instruments in his bedroom and Skateland was born.

Drawing from a wide variety of musical influences, he combines melancholy lyricism and new wave instrumentation with pop production techniques to create a sound that is equal parts past, present, and future. With Skateland, he often writes about autobiographical experiences, confiding, “I take emotions or feelings that I’ve gathered from certain experiences and package them into a format that’s accessible to anyone who listens. I think that’s why I love writing and recording music in non-traditional places as opposed to a fancy studio, writing a guitar part on my porch, jotting down song lyrics at a bar or cafe, tracking vocals in my bedroom etc., it feels like returning to the scene of that major life event and there’s an emotional power in that!”

His single “Autobahn!” explores the hills and valleys of love and relationships. He confides, “The narrator begins the song with what he presumes is a breakup speech, but somehow along the way concedes that for better or worse he will always love this person, and that the tough parts of loving someone are what make it worth it in the end.”

Skateland is the true definition of an artist, the creative energy that surrounds “Autobahn!” Is absolutely off the charts . You owe it to your ears to give “Autobahn!” a listen, you won’t regret it .

Thomas Nicholas Band Delivers Highly Personal New Single “Better Than Home”

Band Fronted By Musician/Actor Thomas Nicholas of ‘American Pie’ / “Rookie Of The Year” Fame

We recently got a chance to check out the latest single “Better Than Home “ via Sbäm Records from Thomas Nicholas Band .

You can listen to “Better Than Home” Here and you can check out the lyric video below

Thomas Nicholas Band are currently writing original songs for their 7th studio album being produced by Taylor Carroll (LIT, Kemikalfire) in collaboration with artists such as, Jaret Reddick (Bowling for Soup), Ace Enders (the Early November), Tom Higgenson (Plain White T’s) Matthew Kennedy (The Dangerous Summer) Adrian Estrella (Zebrahead), Ajay Popoff (LIT), Andrew Goldstein and more

Thomas says, While I was working in the studio with my producer Taylor Carroll (Kemikalfire, LIT), his friend Zac Barnett (American Authors) decided to stop by and say hello. Taylor grabbed a guitar and played him a chorus we were writing and before I knew what was happening, Zac started singing the melody what would become the opening versus for the song, “Better than Home”

I threw out some lyric ideas and then I tried to retract them because they were too personal … Zac immediately suggested that those were the best kind of lyrics and that I should write about what I’m scared to talk about. So here I am with my heart on my shirtsleeve with this song.

To really drive it all home, the artwork includes a reflection of the first place I lived. A double wide trailer outside of Las Vegas. I will also be heading to my other hometown of Santa Cruz to film in the parking lot of the Catalyst – a venue that I finally got to perform at last year with Bowling For Soup.”

Gab De La Vega Shines Bright With “Northern Lights”, second single off upcoming album “Life Burns” out March 1st

We recently had the distinct honor to check out the single “Northern Lights” from Gab De La Vega . It is the second single off of his upcoming album “Life Burns” which is out March 1st via Sbäm Records.

You can listen to “Northern Lights “ Here

You can also check out the video for “Northern Lights “ below

“Northern Lights” has a very organic and natural feel and sound . Gab De La Vega has carefully constructed an absolutely stunning track .

If this is any indication what to expect on the new album “Life Burns , which comes out March 1st.

Life Burns” is being released by SBÄM Records worldwide, in collaboration with Sell The Heart Records (United States), Epidemic Records, Motorcity Produzioni, and Overdrive (all in Italy).

The first single “Off My Chest” (released in December) delivered a more powerful full-band sound, pushing boundaries with dynamic drum beats and fierce guitar riffs, unveiling De La Vega’s hardcore and punk roots. But “Northern Lights” highlights a different side of the upcoming album, exposing listeners to more balanced, yet still punchy, melodically elaborate and solidly grooved sounds, giving the impression that “Life Burns” profiles as a cohesive but at the same time multi-faceted album.

The feelings evoked by the depth of the lyrics and vocals are amplified by the songwriting of a track that introduces itself with a loose pace, only to astonish the listener as the song unravels. “Northern Lights” is in fact a lively and vibrant track, capable of developing a sonic and emotional climax
amplified by the dreamy arrangement, elaborated in the studio in collaboration with producer and bandmate Simone Piccinelli, guitarist of Gab De La Vega’s backing band The Open Cages.

Gab De La Vega comments: “I wanted to share “Northern Lights” as the second single taken from the upcoming album because it is one of the tracks that most reflects the sense of depth that “Life Burns” will have, both in sound and lyrics. Juxtaposed with “Off My Chest” it definitely creates the kind of contrast that can make you realize how rich this album is in every sense of the word. This album represents the most honest and unfiltered side of myself, not just as musician, but as a person balancing between the negative things of life and the drive towards the positive ones, between being right and being wrong, dreams and reality.

“Northern Lights” is a song that plays with emotions, touching peaks in every direction, transforming for example the concept of solitude, presenting it not as a negative element, but as a companion on the journey toward awareness of one’s condition within the complex design of life. A moment of redemption that explodes in the serenity that comes through a deep and necessary catharsis in the human experience.”

The single comes with a music video that translates in pictures the mood of the song. Gab De La Vega says: The video was an idea of my guitarist and producer Simone Piccinelli. I knew it needed to be something very particular, just like the song. Simone had this vision for this video and he thought we needed something that could visually match the song and its nature. I gave him carte blanche because I knew I could trust his creativity. Joey Gaibina behind the camera did all the rest. I simply had a great time filming this on a cold december day on Lake Garda, which is not far from where I live. I think the visuals match the intensity of the song and the landscapes we used in the video are perfect for the kind of lyrics this song has.”

Gab De La Vega is 100 percent the real deal . We are so ready for “Life Burns” on March 1st.

The Whole Kameese Artist Of The Day Interview: Jessica Doolan

Today, Thursday, January 11th – We are proud to present our first Artist Of The Day: Dublin based soul-pop singer Jessica Doolan .

We first discovered Jessica Doolan back in December, when she released her stunning debut single “Stay Or Surrender “

You can listen to “Stay Or Surrender” Here

Jessica Doolan has one of those magical voices that once you hear it , you’ll never forget.

We recently had the distinct honor to chat with Jessica and learn more about this incredible up and coming artist.

Artist Of The Day January 11th: Jessica Doolan

The Whole Kameese:Hi Jessica, thank you so much for taking the time for chatting with us at The Whole Kameese

Jessica Doolan:Thank you for having me!

The Whole Kameese: Can you tell us when you started singing? Do you come from a musical family ?

Jessica Doolan: I started singing when I was about 3 or 4! My family are very musical. I have memories of jamming along to my dads guitar making up melodies and random lyrics. My brother plays the piano incredibly well, my mum sings and my dad plays nearly every instrument!

The Whole Kameese: If someone has never heard you sing before, how would you describe your singing style/sound ? .

Jessica Doolan:I would describe it as Soul-Pop. I grew up listening to artists like Nina Simone, Etta James and Amy Winehouse and I was facinated hearing how much passion was in their voices!

The Whole Kameese:

How old were you when you wrote your first song? Do you remember what it was called?

Jessica Doolan: I was 10 when I wrote my first full song. It was called ‘ Mise Sa Todhchai’ which means Dear Future Self in the Irish language. I wrote my first songs in Irish. I love the sound of the language being sung.

The Whole Kameese: If you could do a duet with anyone , who would it be and why?

Jessica Doolan: My dream duet would probably be Alicia Keys. She’s the coolest!

The Whole Kameese:We absolutely love your debut single “Stay Or Surrender “ Can you tell us the story behind the song?

Jessica Doolan:I wrote the song about my first ever heartbreak. It’s quite raw and honest and I knew I had to put it out the minute I wrote it. I was in a relationship that wasn’t very good for me and I didn’t know whether to stay or go. It felt like I could never escape the feeling of being lovesick & that the heartbreak would stay in my system forever. After I put the song out I got so many messages of people saying it resonated with them. It made me feel less alone!

The Whole Kameese: Coffee or Tea?

Jessica Doolan: I’m a tea girl! Nothing better than getting into your pajamas and making a cup of tea

The Whole Kameese: If you could play a show anywhere, where would that be and why ?

Jessica Doolan : I think playing Madison Square Garden is definitely at the top of my dream list! It’s such an iconic venue and so many of my inspirations have played there.

The Whole Kameese: What are artists are you currently listening to ?

Jessica Doolan: I’m listening to a lot of Sade, Sampha and Teddy Swims!

The Whole Kameese : If you could give one piece of advice to young musicians/singers who are just starting out , what would it be and why?

Jessica Doolan: I would say don’t be afraid of failing. It’s always daunting putting yourself out into the world and sharing your art but remember it’s your purpose and you should never let the doubts take over your mind. It’s all about the journey and I always think about a quote I read. It was ‘ The desire to succeed will never be more powerful than having the guts to fail’.

The Whole Kameese: What can we expect from Jessica Doolan in 2024?

Jessica Doolan: A lot more music & a lot more shows!!! I’m hoping to play my first ever headline show this year, I’m so excited.

Following “Fool” and “Found My Peace,” her new electrifying single, “Happy Place,” is the third in her trilogy of confessional tracks that explore lingering effects of a toxic relationship: “I tell a story with these 3 songs — the heartbreak, the awakening, and the release,” she says.

“Fool” is about the breakdown of the relationship, “Found My Peace” sees Chloe emerging from the ashes of heartbreak, and, finally, “Happy Place” is about finding freedom in healing. About the song, Chloe elaborates, it’s about that feeling of relief that you experience when you finally get comfortable being on your own. That’s ‘Happy Place.’”

Chloe Star is a Persian and indigenous singer, songwriter, visual artist, and tribal advocate. Growing up she split her time between Los Angeles and her family’s reservation in San Bernardino. With a childhood that was chaotic and often unstable, she found solace in journaling and writing poetry. She taught herself to play piano and guitar and soon started transforming her prose into lyrics.

On “Sundays” the brilliantly crafted melancholic melody is reminiscent of that Sunday evening feeling we call the “Sunday Scaries,” when the day has been free and soft but morphs into frustrated anxiety. Featuring acclaimed guitarist Zane Carney (John Mayer, Thundercat, EVAN + ZANE), the wistful ballad begins with a soft acoustic guitar riff that billows beneath quiet, warm, and whispering vocals. The blooming piano creeps under the surface until the slyly psychedelic arrangement bursts into a frustrated, painful howl. It’s a bleak storyline about relearning yourself when you’ve lost the one thing that brought you comfort, and as the elegant, winding melody meanders through to the finale, listeners can feel the stinging hope and desperate grabs for normalcy.

KTJ&CARLY are like a pair of best selling authors as each song feels like a page turning novel that we can’t resist and , “Sundays” is no exception.

Do yourself and check out the latest gem “Sundays” from KTJ&CARLY, you will be glad you did .

Right from jump… “Girl Of Your Dreams “ from Maddie Regent had us moving and shaking , our office suddenly felt like a dance club . The opening track “Buy Me A Drink”is such an electrifying dance track full of so much energy, that it could power a small town.

Throughout the amazing eight tracks on “Girl Of Your Dreams” you are taken on the ultimate electro-pop experience.

Maddie’s dreamy vocals dance atop driving electronic beats and glittery synths. She effortlessly balances heart-wrenching lyricism with uplifting pop melodies. The EP, which was produced by her boyfriend and close collaborator Cade Hoppe, includes 5 previously released singles and 3 brand new songs: Buy Her a Drink,”Prettiest Please,” and “Hiding Place”

Girl of your Dreams’ is about how bad love conditions you to believe you’re not worthy of good love… so you can’t help but ruin it,” says Maddie. “It’s a cycle of toxic relationships — both with others and yourself.”

“Prettiest Please” really shines a much deserved spotlight on Maddie’s incredible and flawless vocals- Bravo

Hailing from Toronto and now based in New York City, Maddie first started making music at the age of 12. As an introverted child, music became her tool to express herself and work through her anxieties, helping her to find power in her vulnerability. After years of honing her sound, she’s found the perfect balance between escapist pop bops and raw, honest songwriting.

“Girl Of My Dreams “ is one of those EP’s that were made to be on constant repeat. Standouts include “Butterflies “ , “Side FX “ (The lyrics on “Side FX “ are freaking brilliant “ )

When we do a review we like to pick our favorite track . However, Maddie has made it tough because, every song is so good. But, if we had to pick it would be “Hiding Place” We can’t quite put our finger on it but this song is magical. We love the arrangement on “Hiding Place “ the music is perfectly placed and really lets Maddie’s voice shine .

It’s always so fun to find an artist that reminds us why we love music so much, for us Maddie Regent is that artist and, “Girl Of Your Dreams” is the kind of EP you want to share with everyone you know.

Olive Louise Delivers A Phenomenally Well Crafted Gem With Her Latest Single “Special”

We recently had the amazing opportunity to check out the new single “Special” from New York based singer/storyteller Olive Louise .

You can listen to “Special” on Spotify Here and on Apple Music Here

Music is mostly an auditory experience, meaning it is mainly an experience that we hear. However, a really good song or a really good piece of music isn’t something you just hear .. The really good stuff the music and songs that we go back to again and again….. We feel those songs in our heart and in our soul.

“Special” from Olive Louise is no doubt one of those magical songs that you not only hear but, you feel it with your whole heart and soul.

“Special” feels personal , Olive Louise is a gifted and skilled songwriter and storyteller. Her delivery and vocal approach makes the listener feel an instant connection.

My father used to tell me, “you don’t paint apples red or flowers more vibrant” and that is always in the forefront of my mind. I don’t want my imperfections washed out. You can be soft and have grit.” Sporting a Victorian-like disheveled “au natural” look, her visual world is eerily nostalgic. “The events in my life have forced me through so many huge changes. I never could have seen my life going the way it has. It’s had a profound effect on what I resonate with. I understand not fitting in and moving around and trying to make sense of things without time to, and so that’s the imagery I’m drawn to and the music I write reflects my lived experience.”

Special” was written about an amalgamation of experiences where she felt nervous and out of place and had wished she could feel comfortable as herself rather than instantly wishing to leave. Olive confides, “I created this character in the song, this perfect person, that comes along, understands how I’m feeling, and says “let’s go look at the view” because that’s what I had almost always wished for in those times.”

We are absolutely enthralled with “Special” from Olive Louise and see what she does next.

We had the amazing opportunity to check out the new single/video for “Your Angel” from rlyblonde- the project of NYC-based multidisciplinary artist Carina Allen.

You can listen to “Your Angel” Here

We fell instantly for “Your Angel” from rlyblonde. “Your Angel” has this raw and authentic sound that is brimming with emotion. “Your Angel” is rlyblonde taking her sound to a whole new level.

As the saying goes, ‘hell hath no fury like a woman scorned,’ and rlyblonde proves that with her new single, “Your Angel.” It’s a cathartic release of anger packaged into an anthemic alt-rock banger.

“Creating music, for me, was always something fueled partially by anger; an anger at my life not being what I wanted, of being jealous of people around me, of feeling trapped or stuck,” she says. “So this song really sums up all of those angry, rebellious, teen feelings, while also tapping into something a bit darker— what it really feels like to have a trauma response to someone or something, and what to do with those complicated feelings.”

“Your Angel” is released with an accompanying visualizer that’s in-step with the song’s dark, brooding energy. The visualizer was produced by rlyblonde’s own production company, HOT CREATIVE (@rlyhotcreative). Handling the production and direction of all of her own videos, rlyblonde creates an all-encompassing visual world that compliments the music. “It’s one of the most important parts of the whole project,” she says.

You can check out the video for “Your Angel” below

After years of being the go-to photographer, videographer and creative director for New York’s favorite indie acts, rlyblonde stepped into the spotlight earlier this year with her debut EP, ‘Fantasy.’ The EP was met with praise by tastemakers like The Luna Collective, Unpublished Magazine, and Enfnts Terribles Magazine.

We have said it before and it bares repeating “rylblonde is a special artist, with a talent that doesn’t come along every day , we can’t wait to see what she does next …. We know it will be sensational. “

rlyblonde will be celebrating the release of “Your Angel” with a show at Gold Sounds in Brooklyn on November 29th. Tickets are available here.

Paul Nourigat Shines Brightly With New Single And Video For “Will Not Pretend” (featuring John Duncan & Jeff Johnson)

We recently had the opportunity to check out the new single and video for “Will Not Pretendfrom Portland based Americana artist Paul Nourigat.

You can listen to “Will Not Pretend “ on Spotify Here and on Apple Music Here You can also watch the video for “Will Not Pretend “ below

Paul Nourigat has been a “musical bystander” his whole life. Five years ago, however, he picked up a guitar and five thoughtfully-themed albums later he hasn’t looked back. With steely determination and no formal musical training, Paul learned to play ukulele, guitar, sing, write songs, and produce.

New single “Will Not Pretend” is an elegantly essential ballad with Paul’s reflective and warm vocals tastefully accompanied by piano, electric guitar, and cello. The song unpacks how fleeting friendship can be throughout a lifetime.

“Will Not Pretend “ is a well written and crafted song . We really loved the honesty that was center stage in both the instrumentation and in Paul’s flawless vocal performance.

“Will Not Pretend” is a fine example of an artist who gives his whole heart and soul in every performance. We can’t not wait for more from Paul Nourigat.

Babebee photo by Max Durante

Layering dreamy guitars, ethereal synths and unconventional production, the Atlanta based songwriter/producer yields a stream-of-conscious lyricism that speaks to the wisdom beyond their years. Following a string of singles and striking music videos, A PROPHECY spans territories of alternative indie rock, dreampop and shoegaze, with standout moments informed by their stylistic diversity. Referencing bossa nova, trap and plugg in their lead single “VIDEO GAME”, the upbeat song “BUTTERFLY” is one of Babebee’s favorites off the EP. Led by an alluring dance beat and hypnotic vocals sung in their native tongue, they share that the track was inspired by “2000’s indie pop, K-pop, Imogen Heap, and so much more.”

Endlessly ambitious and impossible to define, Babebee is inspired by similarly eclectic and genre-bending artists like Imogen Heap, Björk, The xx, Frank Ocean, SOPHIE, FKA twigs, Blood Orange, underscores, and more. Call them hyperpop, and you’d miss out on their experimental dance signatures, their penchant for bedroom pop melodicism. Call them a singer and you miss out on their expert production work. Call them unconventional, and you’re closer to the truth: it’s the reason you might’ve caught them on Twitch, or on their Discord community, The Honeypot, or featured on a series of all-star Spotify playlists, including New Music Friday, the official hyperpop playlist, and Lorem, with its nearly one million likes.

“A PROPHECY” from Babebee is an absolute must listen.

Casii Stephan Delivers An Absolutely Stunning Performance of Leon Russell’s Famous Love Song “A Song For You”

We recently checked out Minnesota born and Tulsa , indie-pop meets soul-rock singer-songwriter Casii Stephan and her soulful interpretation of the Leon Russell classic “A Song For You” Recorded At Church Studio (Live)

You can listen to “A Song For You” Recorded At Church Studio (live) on Spotify Here and on Apple Music Here You can also watch the video below

Casii Stephan confides, “I believe this song is one of the greatest when it comes to best-written love songs. It’s also just not an easy song to cover. Part of me viewed this as a challenge to myself and the other part viewed it as a way to express my respect for what Leon did as a songwriter and musician. Recorded in one take (It was Take #4), it forced me to accept the performance with all its nuances just like the song describes the acceptance between the two lovers. It ain’t perfect and that’s the beauty of it.”

Recorded in one take at The Church Studio in Tulsa, which he (Leon Russell) founded, Casii’s rendition is deeply soulful and present, giving a stirring take on the timeless song.

Casii Stephan is an authentic songwriter, who writes her songs honestly, from the depths of her emotions, with lyrics that push back on negative societal norms like sexism, ageism and “playing nice” as a woman. She uses writing to deconstruct her own beliefs with an underlying hope that things can change, inviting listeners on their own journey.

We are enthralled with her latest single, which is a timeless and emotional cover of Leon Russell’s “A Song for You” – Casii Stephan’s rendition is a must listen for all music fans

Kill Rock Stars and Asian Man Records release Teens in Trouble / Desert Mambas Split And…. We love it!

They say November is the month to be THANKFUL…. Well we are super THANKFUL for this epic Teens in Trouble / Desert Mambas Split EP via Kill Rock Stars and Asian Man Records.

The amazing split features two electric indie rock tracks from San Francisco-born, Raleigh-based Teens in Trouble and two moody bluesy alt-country jams from Los Angeles-based Desert Mambas.

You can listen to the split EP on Spotify Here and Apple Music Here

We would suggest that if indie-rock is your thing that you immediately listen to the new split EP from Teens In Trouble and Desert Mambas because wicked good music is always a good thing …. And trust us this split EP is wicked good.

Teens in Trouble and Desert Mambasexplore mental spaces and places in their autobiographical and adventurous self-titled split EP, Teens in Trouble / Desert Mambas, out today. Created eight months after an exchange between friends Lizzie Killian of Teens in Trouble and Bailey Moses of Desert Mambas, the split is a playful yet cathartic musical project pulling from the experiences and work of both artists.

My therapist ghosted me for six months. So six times two hundred per session, Four times a month, carry the one… That’s a new guitar. And I don’t need a new guitar, I just need someone to talk to…” ( We here at The Whole Kameese can absolutely relate to therapy and buying musical equipment, so this on really hit home with us) Killian muses on in Teens in Trouble’s Sharon. Desert MambasNotes From Chicago” holds the existential indie rock theme steady, Even the desert will be crying tonight. Even the cacti will be wet with tears… cold and wet with tears tonight…” Tonally and lyrically, this EP provides the alternative rock that grazes punk and surf, the kind encapsulating the feeling we reach for when hitting play on Best Coast, Dum Dum Girls, or Alvvays. We are absolutely smitten with the retro feel/vibe from Desert Mambas

Teens in Trouble, the blazing, guitar-heavy, indie creative project of writer, guitarist, and vocalist Lizzie Killian, brings a follow-up from their debut EP released under Asian Man Records last fall, which has been featured in Alternative Press, BrooklynVegan, Consequence, Stereogum, and more. Teens in Trouble brings another emotionally-driven and self-expressive voice to one half of this EP. Just after recording Teens in Trouble’s debut full-length, Killian messaged Moses about co-writing a song together to which they responded by suggesting recording a split EP, “then one thing led to another, and here we are eight months later!” shared Killian.

The playful and in-the-moment nature of this EP coming together is reflective in the Teens in Trouble side of the split, bringing songs about being present in the moment and mental health, both based on true stories/experiences of Killian. The songs of this half are both emotional and locationally specific, with one of the songs “Winter in The Trap” referring to a small town in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, North Carolina. Teens in Trouble’s tracks were recorded with friends guitarist/bassist/producer Randy Moore(Lektron, Dan Andriano & The Bygones), drummer Henry Chadwick, and guitarist Mike Huguenor (Jeff Rosenstock) at District Recording in San Jose.

Desert Mambas, the project of Los Angeles-based, Arizona-raised Foxx Bodies guitarist Bailey Moses, once again provides a refreshing voice through sun-drenched melodies with country and roots influences bringing in a biographical approach to their half of the EP. Following their debut EP, …But it’s a Dry Heat, a warm and breezy ode to trans joy that was released earlier this summer under Kill Rock Stars, Moses continues to dive further into themes of identity and personal experience while also being able to find a space for previous projects. “For part of this project I revisited some older ideas sonically,” shared Moses. “The song ‘Notes from Chicago’ was written a long time ago, and I’ve always liked it but didn’t know where it fit. Including it in this EP feels like finally getting to play with something that can be its own thing.”

This fuzzed-out, personal, dreamy collection of songs is released by the artist’s respective labels – digitally through Kill Rock Stars and on vinyl through Asian Man Records today, Friday, November 17. Asian Man Recordsstore has a green vinyl variant, Desert MambasBandcamp has red, Teens in Trouble’s Bandcamp has blue, and the KRS site has black. The digital EP can also be purchased on Bandcamp and streamed on major streaming platforms.

Teens In Trouble and Desert Mambas are heading out on a West Coast tour starting December 6 , details below

We know the word “important” can get thrown around incorrectly when discussing music. However, we believe that the split EP between Teens In Trouble (Asian Man Records) and Desert Mambas (Kill Rock Stars) qualifies as an important collection of songs because both in their own way do a brilliant job of exploring the different aspects of the human condition- and we think that is important.

Teens In Trouble and Desert Mambas are heading out on a West Coast tour starting December 6 , details below

US West Coast Tour

12/6 – Long Beach, CA @ Alex’s Bar

12/7 – Los Angeles, CA @ Resident

12/9 – San Francisco, CA @ Thee Parkside

There are No Cracks On Caroline Romano’s Flawless New Single “Girl In A China Shop”

For reasons we have never really have been able to figure out , certain songs just hit different. You hear a song for the first time and instantly connect with it . We definitely felt with the new single “Girl In A China Shop” from Nashville-based alt-pop sensation Caroline Romano.

You can listen to “Girl In A China Shop” Here

The first thing we couldn’t help but notice on “Girl In China Shop” is that it is lyrically brilliant. Caroline Romano effortlessly weaves in and out of song with perfectly placed words , that will literally take your breath away.

I often feel like I break everything I touch. I’ve come to view myself as one major juxtaposition,” says Caroline. “One thing I’ve learned is that as life moves on, things get broken in the process. Whether it’s relationships, or my own heart, I’ve come to realize that it’s all too easy to shatter either one by my own hand. At times it’s left me feeling uncomfortable in my own skin and with my own footing. ‘girl in a china shop is my attempt at acknowledging that, in a way that summarizes the chaotic feeling that is navigating myself and other’s emotions.”

At just 22-years-old, the Nashville-based singer and songwriter has repeatedly demonstrated her ability to create anthems that capture the highs and lows of young adulthood. She memorializes her messy, relatable emotions into buoyant, unflinchingly honest songs.

We feel fortunate to be able to experience the incredible music of Caroline Romano . Every song is a melodic work of art and “Girl In A China Shop” is no exception.

We can’t wait to see what Caroline Romano does next .

Eighty Ninety Delivers Extraordinary New Single “Ruins” & Album Announcement

Self-Titled Debut LP, Eighty Ninety, Out 12/15

Indie-pop duo Eighty Ninety announce their self-titled debut album, out December 15th, and share the album’s opening track, “Ruins,” out on all streaming platforms today ( Friday,November, 17th)

You can listen to “Ruins” Here

Following a slew of singles – “The Hard Way,” “Face Like a Sunset,” “Stay Alive,” and “2 Carat” – “Ruins” arrives as the final single from the band’s highly-anticipated self-titled album. It’s a classic Eighty Ninety song, overflowing with raw emotion, textured indie-pop production, and Abner’s hauntingly beautiful vocals.

“‘Ruins’’ is a reflection the past, the choices we didn’t make and the ‘what ifs’’that still linger,” the duo explain. “We wanted to capture the ache of those missed opportunities and unspoken words, and to reflect on our youth and the ruins we all carry with us. The rest of the album also explores how we shape our lives on the foundations of those ruins and their enduring impact on who we become.”

Eighty Ninety is the project of Brooklyn-based brothers Abner (vocals, production) and Harper (guitar, production) James. They fuse intimate storytelling, sticky melodies, and minimalist pop productions built on acoustic instruments and electronic sounds in a style they call “808s and telecasters” — a shorthand for both their music and their anything-goes mentality in the studio.

We have said it again , we think it is next to impossible to listen to Eighty Ninety and not come away a fan . As we patiently wait for music from Eighty Ninety, do yourself a favor and get lost unforgettable vibe of “Ruins”

Their new album was initially slated for 2022, but Helen and Joe stepped away from music last year to focus on life away from the band – without going into details, it’s fair to say that life can be tough at times.

With that in mind, it’s perhaps befitting that hope is a theme that reoccurs throughout the new record, and that the importance of family is also integral to the album – which is reflected in the artwork for the campaign being built around childhood photos of Joe and Helen.

“Golden” is one of those special albums that you can hit play and simply walk away there is not a bad track to be found on this stunning collection of songs.

From the first note of the title track “Golden” you can sense that Cattle&Cane have recorded more than just an album but, they have given the listener a true musical experience.

We Are Absolutely Loving The New Single “Unfold You”From Psychic Shakes

We recently had the opportunity to check out the third and final single “Unfold You” from Psychic Shakes forthcoming LP, Forever Now out November 17th via Good Eye Records.

You can listen to “Unfold You” on Spotify Here and on Apple Music Here

Max McLellan has been releasing music under the moniker of Psychic Shakes since 2016. Inspired by the hypnotic vocal delivery of Elliott Smith, the punk mystique of Greg Sage, and the eccentric, melodically driven pop of Martin Newell, McLellan has created a genre hopping, era bending project in Psychic Shakes.

In 2022 McLellan and his partner discovered they were expecting, and with fatherhood approaching he began to re-evaluate ideation, creativity, and his identity as an artist in a post-covid landscape. Armed with a cheap guitar and a borrowed iMac with a cracked screen, he set about leaving a diary entry for his daughter- a view into her parent’s lives in the months leading up to her birth: Forever Now.

Jilted drums cutting through slinky, modulated acoustic guitars define the album’s penultimate track “Unfold You.” It is a reflection on romantic relationships, but ones that weren’t right. Highly personal lyrical themes touch on depression, loss of self, as well as a brief reference to McLellan’s struggles with Epilepsy. Arguably the most melancholy track on the album, references to a kind of emotional ‘aphasia‘ highlight the feelings of being caught in love for the wrong reasons.

In a letter McLellan wrote to his partner Maddy he described being around her as similar to ‘coming up for air’ after spending all day underwater, which was the inspiration for the opening lyrics of the song. “Unfold You” fades out of view with a sentimental swell of psychedelic reversed guitars, and romantic string arrangements; A final slow dance for two lovers who unlocked each other.

We are absolutely smitten with the beautiful musical composition that is “Unfold You” There is this beautiful display of love , authenticity and intimacy with “Unfold You”

Do your soul a favor and check out this stunning new track, you will be glad you did .

Lilac Haze is the project name for Bath-based songwriter Katrina Swift. Greatly influenced by bands of the ‘80s/’90s, Swift draws inspiration from The Cure, All About Eve, Eva Cassidy and Fleetwood Mac, combining atmospheric and ethereal textures with a sense of nostalgic romance.

Formed in 2023, Lilac Haze’s debut double singles The Ghost That I Once Knew // Lilac Haze were released in March, championed by the likes of RTE, Music Daily and Noctis Magazine. August saw the release of her EP’s first single Daisy Girl, celebrated by Wonderland, Baby Step Magazine and Northern Transmission, receiving airplay from the likes of BBC Introducing and Islington Radio.

Lilac Haze’s debut EP My Dreamworld was co-produced with Calum Wotherspoon (Nightswimming) at Joe’s Garage in Bristol and mastered by Adam Ayan (Paul McCartney, Lana Del Ray, Carrie Underwood), with guitarist Dylan Osafo and drummer Callum Maloney collaborating throughout. The EP explores change, new beginnings, letting go of fear and living in the here and now.

The music of Lilac Haze is simply otherworldly. My Dreamworld” is a beautifully crafted EP that is brimming with beauty, grace and breathtaking melodies.

Discussing what she hoped to achieve with the EP, Katrina says: I wanted to create something that would transport the listener to another world where dreams and hopes don’t feel like a million miles away or unreachable, and to know that things can get better no matter how bleak the reality may seem.”

Ahead of the release of the EP came its title track My Dreamworld, released on September 29th 2023, a co-write and collaboration with All About Eve’s Julianne Regan.

Reflecting on the process and what inspired the single, Katrina explains: Even though we worked remotely, there was always close communication and so it was still a really warm way to work. Julianne created and recorded much of the instrumentation, and once I had my final vocals done, I sent them to her and she worked her magic with the mixing. I know we both feel it was a joy to collaborate with one another, and we’re excited that we’re continuing to create music together. This is a song that reflects a myriad of subconscious feelings and emotions that come alive in dreams, creating their own reality.”

Cameroonian Afro Futurist Pop Artist Moken Shares Absolutely Breathtaking New Album “An African Island in an American City”

We recently checked out the new album “An African Island in an American City” from Atlanta based Moken ,a Cameroonian Afro Futurist / Avant Garde pop artist with one of the most unique croons you’ve ever heard, is releasing his first new material since 2019’s “Missing Chapters,” which was lauded by Fader, PRI’s The World, Popmatters and more.

You can listen to “An African Island in an American City” on Spotify Here and on Apple Music Here

I have always lived on an island of my own dreams, even back in Africa,” shares Cameroonian, avant-garde, Afro-pop artist and balladeer Moken Nunga. “Today, I am experiencing island life in America, as I’ve been abandoned by many members of my family. If you can stay optimistic in adversity such as this, you can produce your best work. Out of isolation came the best songs of my career.”

The Atlanta, Georgia-based artist is referring to his finely crafted third album, An African Island in an American City. The 15-song record is an imaginative and purposeful collection of songs with a freewheeling melting-pot aesthetic that cements Moken’s artistic identity while it also showcases his versatility.

We were first introduced to Moken back in August, with his amazing single “Glory Days” We have said it before but it bares repeating , “We have been reviewing music in one form or another for 30 years, We can honestly say that “Glory Days “ from Moken, truly took our breath away” .

You can watch the video for “Glory Days” below

An African Island in an American City is personal, political, abstractly poetic, and, at times, playful. We were absolutely mesmerized by the opening track “Island Life” . The track has this vibrant energy that really made the song stand out . Vocally Moken shines every so bright on “Island life” The haunting “Blood River” is a sparse and searing ballad with Moken’s flickering vocals delicately supported by a moody piano track. The song courageously and directly addresses the desertion of his family. Moken sings: now I am free, now I am safe, singing this song, for you to know/blood river, blood river, blood river/I have been swimming in you for fifty years/blood river, river of my blood, river of my bloooode/I have been swimming in you for fifty years.

We were taken by the hypnotic beats on “Mama Africa “ We were especially moved by the moving vocal performance by Moken, you could feel that he was giving his whole heart and soul in the performance.

The majestic, “New Hope Of The Morning,” features an overlay of Moken’s vocals with his crying melodies weaving in and out of his commanding low-register vocals. It’s a stinging political song in the style of Bob Dylan and Van Morrison. The song’s emotional apex is the talk poem where Moken says: O those who believe are running straight on the clashing glow under the sun/under the wave of conflicts/no one is backing up, without believes, without believes/rage rising, clashing, millions running, coming out loose, coming out loose/from their old and new cages. “I know this song captures what is going on in America and the world right now,”

“An African Island In An American City” from Moken , is more than just an album. It is a beautifully brilliant musical experience that you will never forget

Holden Miller Delivers Stunning Debut Album “My Brain Is Fired”

We recently checked out the debut album “My Brain Is Fired” from Los Angeles singer-songwriter Holden Miller.

You can listen to “My Brain Is Fired” on Spotify Here and on Apple Music Here

Holden Miller has a unique vibe and sound that he absolutely rocks. In a musical landscape that can be a little mundane, Holden Miller and his stunning debut album “My Brain Is Fired “ is a welcome change

The title track “My Brain Is Fired “ serves as the opening track to the album and , it is an absolute gem . Highlighted by smartly written lyrics and absolutely perfect vocals we loved every minute.

Holden Miller doesn’t take himself too seriously — but his music is another story. When it comes to singer-songwriters with folk and pop undertones, it takes a lot to stand out from the crowd, and Holden is up for the challenge. He creates music that holds a mirror to the experiences of other young people by approaching his songwriting without pretension.

The track “Teeth” has a unique feel and sound to it and we are still singing along , long after the music has stops

Holden is able to push the boundaries of what a contemporary singer-songwriter can look like: through broad, often impressionistic interpretations of anxiety, the passage of time, and love and heartbreak, his music finds a way to resonate with a wide audience even beyond his own demographic.

“The Messenger” is an absolutely brilliantly written song . Holden , is definitely firing on all cylinders. We had this on repeat … simply amazing.

“My Brain Is Fired “ from Holden Miller is the kind of album that you want to find the tallest mountain and tell the whole world how great it is

“Dig A Hole”, “Break The Rules” and “ILY(I’m Losing You” are all phenomenal tracks that show the extraordinary talent of Holden Miller.

Raised on the classic rock of the 1960s and ‘70s, Holden is the nexus of genre staples like Jack Johnson and Jason Isbell, intersected with more modern iterations like Alexander23 or Adam Melchor. The listener may find his clever lyricism sparking an epiphany once they realize he’s unpacked a feeling they know all too well, but in his own quirky and unique way.

So find your favorite music listening spot and get lost in the musical greatness that is Holden Miller and his fabulous debut album “My Brain Is Fired”

We Found Your New Favorite Singer…. Her Name Is Kenzie Cait, And Her New EP “innocence “ Is Simply Spectacular

We recently had the phenomenal opportunity to check out Nashville based singer songwriter Kenzie Cait and her amazing new EP “innocence”

You can listen to “innocence” on Spotify Here and on Apple Music Here

We listen to a lot of music here at The Whole Kameese (we’re a music blog it’s what we do) but, every now and then we get stopped dead in our tracks from an artist who absolutely blows us away . Kenzie Cait is absolutely one of those artists.

Kenzie Cait makes the kind of music that prompts the listener to think, “How did she put what I’m feeling into words?” As a guitarist and writer who was told she began humming melodies before she could speak, music is truly embedded into Kenzie Cait’s DNA. With more and more people clamoring for music in the vein of Lizzy McAlpine, Olivia Rodrigo, and the blueprint of Taylor Swift, Kenzie has arrived just in time.

However,we think that while Kenzie Cait may have a similar sound like the artist above, We think she has a unique style and sound that is all her own .

She’s an artist who wants to reach people with her music however she can, whether it be through live shows or social media, and is making waves with recordings like the dreamy, urgent, and deeply honest “that girl” in the meantime

We fell head over heels for the EP, right from the first track which is brilliantly written title track “innocenceKenzie writes songs that you can’t help but connect with. On “that girl” we get a real feel for how stunning Kenzie’s voice really is

“innocence” is an Ep that is solid top to bottom. However, our favorite track on the EP is “the worst part “ this is Kenzie Cait at her absolute best .

Above all, Kenzie Cait wants people to feel heard: “When people listen to my music, I want them to know that dramatic emotions are okay, and that they should have grace with themselves. I hope they know it’s ok to react to moments in life in a natural way.” Kenzie Cait makes music to be shared, whether in the form of a live concert or a friend DMing a streaming link. Her music has a communal sense of understanding to it, paramount to Kenzie’s vision for her artistry going forward. She’s a fan’s fan through and through; she herself has spent her life loving those who inspire her. Now, she’s ready to step into the spotlight herself.

Do yourself and check out Kenzie Cait and her new EP “innocence “ it will make your heart and ears very happy.

Humm Unveil Heavenly New single Danced Alone (Who I am When I’m In Love)

We were recently blessed to check the amazing new single “Danced Alone ( Who I am When I’m In Love” from Bath-based contemporary folk duo Humm

You can listen to “Danced Alone (Who I am When I’m In Love” on Spotify Here and on Apple Music Here and on Amazon Music Here

Often when discussing music people comment that band or singer has “It”. Hard to describe exactly what “It” is but, when you hear “It “ You know it immediately.

Humm (Arty Jackson and Carys Lewin) have crafted an absolutely stunningly beautiful musical composition that should shared and heard by all .

Since 2018, Humm have been captivating audiences with their deadly combination of melodic finger-style guitar, lush, ethereal vocals and rich harmonium drones, creating genre-defining tracks that are mellifluous yet anthemic, capturing nature, folklore and Cornish fairytale in every song. They were recently chosen from hundreds as one of four acts to visit, write and perform at Sir Paul & Mike McCartney’s childhood home, 20 Forthlin Road in Liverpool as part of The Forthlin Sessions.

Following up on their recent single Mother Nature’s Lost Love, their new single Danced Alone (who I am when I’m in love), produced, mixed and mastered with Josh Clark at Get Real Audio, blends gorgeous harmonies, delicate, driving guitar lines and poignant lyrics to explore self love, reflection and appreciation for the hard lessons you learn after a complicated relationship.

It is a love letter to the newly lonely, exploring the difficulties of losing yourself within a relationship and finding yourself in the aftermath. This song is a reminder for you to love and appreciate yourself and the beautiful world around you”, the band state.

We are absolutely smitten with Humm and brilliant new single “ Danced Alone ( Who I am When I’m In Love” This is one you can’t miss.

Faunea Gives An Enchanting New Single With “Jellyfish “

We recently had the opportunity to check out multi-faceted artist Faunea

Faunea comes from Danish, Peruvian, and Asian descent.

Faunea’s voice is simply otherworldly. It has been described as a delightful combination of lightly intimate yet with a surprisingly powerful dark side. Her sound is a playful universe, with an eerie electronic vibe. When her light and innocent voice occasionally breaks down in a dark and haunting feeling the contrast becomes clear, and she’s guiding the listener through the maze of a slightly manic character.

You may recognize her voice from the song “Sound Of Breaking “ which, was featured in the American Netflix series Tiny Pretty Things.

“Jellyfish” from Faunea is absolutely mesmerizing. We love the vibe and energy Faunea brings with this well crafted and well written gem.

Jellyfish” is a lyrical exploration of resilience and self-acceptance. Through its verses and chorus, the song conveys the message that Faunea has been labeled and judged by others as soft, lazy, or unintelligent, much like the perceived qualities of a Jellyfish. However, Faunea embraces her inner strength, comparing it to the regenerative abilities of a Jellyfish in the ocean’s depths. This metaphor serves as a powerful reminder that external judgments and criticisms should not define one’s self-worth. The song encourages listeners to go with the flow of life, accepting their uniqueness and ability to adapt to changing circumstances, all while holding onto their true essence. Overall, “Jellyfish” is a captivating musical statement about resilience, self-discovery, and the beauty of staying authentic in a world where everything is constantly changing.

Do yourself and get lost in the beauty that is “Jellyfish” from Faunea

Delilah Brao Delivers Epic New Single “Over The Phone”

We recently got the opportunity to check out the new single “Over The Phone” from Boston born and bred and now Los Angeles based singer-songwriter Delilah Brao

You can listen to “Over The Phone” on Spotify Here and Apple Music Here

First things first , if you are a regular reader of The Whole Kameese then you know that Delilah Brao is automatically cool in our because we are both in fact from Boston.

All kidding aside, we love the vibe and feel of “Over The Phone”. Delilah Brao has this hint of mystery to her that adds another dimension to her music .

In her debut EP, “Since You’re In New York”, Delilah ruminates on long distance relationships, heartbreak and starting over. Produced by Justin Lucas (Khalid, The Revivalists, Alec Benjamin, Wafia) and mixed by Philip Etherington (Lizzy McAlpine, FINNEAS, Laufey, Tiny Habits), this folk-pop EP is sparsely and delicately produced to showcase Delilah’s moving songwriting and ethereal vocals. She’s singing about herself, and you, and it’s still somehow out of reach.

Her leading single “Over The Phone” is a stunning folk-laced pop single all about heartbreak from a long distance relationship. She confides, “Over The Phone is about this guy I dated who broke up with me on FaceTime. The call only lasted 5 minutesit’s like he fit it in between episodes of the series we were watching together. It’s grim. We dated for years. But, long distance sucks and the song kind of speaks for itself in that way.”

We have a feeling that Delilah Brao is just getting warmed up and we can’t wait to see what she does next .

Seth Glier’s New Single And Video For “Mammoth” Proves Why He Is A World Class Singer-Songwriter

We recently had the distinct honor to check out the latest single “ Mammoth “ from Grammy nominated and Western Massachusetts based singer-songwriter Seth Glier

You can listen to “Mammoth” on Spotify Here and on Apple Music Here You can also check out the video for “Mammoth” below

It is always a pleasure to listen to musicians who are top their game. Seth Glier proves without a doubt with his new single, “Mammoth” that he is at his very best.

The song explores questions such as, “what if you were brought back to life and found yourself in a world you could no longer recognize?” and “What if you learned the reason you were resurrected was to save humanity?” Seth shares, “Scientists Sergey Zimov and Nikita Zimov are in the process of picking through the ice and melting permafrost of northern Siberia for the perfect frozen sample of a Woolly Mammoth. Their goal is to take the DNA and bring the mammoth back to the plains it once roamed. There is some merit to this idea as a climate solution. The Permafrost is one of the largest carbon reservoirs we have. In the grazing ecosystems, mammoths trample snow while foraging during the winter. When the snow is packed beneath their significant weight, it allows deeper freezing of the permafrost and thus protects it from degradation. I was struck by this and how strange it might feel for the mammoth & decided to write the song from its perspective.”

A gifted songwriter, is also a gifted storyteller as well , Seth Glier is both world class songwriter and storyteller.

We felt an immediate connection with “Mammoth” We were literally hanging on every note . Seth Glier has brilliantly crafted a song that gently tugs at your heart and soul.

Not only has Seth Glier given us a stunning song but he is also announcing today that his highly anticipated upcoming album “EVERYTHING” which is set for release January 26th. The eight track folk-drenched indie pop full length is a hopeful and important narrative entirely about climate solutions.

Seth is bringing his incredible music on the road . His next show will be this Saturday October 21st in Middleborough, MA @ Studio 84 House Concerts . You can find more information below.

We absolutely love the new single “Mammoth” from Seth Glier and we think you will too .

Acclaimed NYC Guitarist, Singer & Songwriter Steve Conte (New York Dolls, Michael Monroe) Releases New Single “Girl With No Name” And…. We Absolutely Love It

We recently had the distinct honor to check out the new single “Girl With No Name” via Wicked Cool Records from acclaimed singer and songwriter Steve Conte. (New York Dolls, Michael Monroe )

You can listen to “Girl With No Name” on Spotify Here and on Apple Music Here

New York City guitarist, singer-songwriter Steve Conte is back– following the summer release of his single “Fourth Of July” (co-written with Andy Patridge of XTC)– with his latest track “Girl With No Name.”

Conte says, “This is a song of regret…about missed opportunity and lack of skills in meeting someone you’re attracted to.

When putting my new album together, I was looking for songs that would fit nicely alongside the songs that Andy Partridge and I had written for it and I kept thinking of this one. I wrote it back in 1984 and never forgot it – which was a good sign.

Because it came to me so long ago I can’t exactly remember my process for writing it, except that since I was young & single at that time I was probably experiencing these kinds of situations & feelings on a daily basis!

Musically, I can hear what was influencing me back then; mid 60s Beatles, mid 80s XTC, and that beloved Motown groove from a certain Diana Ross & The Supremes song…”

A follow-up LP to Conte’s acclaimed 2021 solo album Bronx Cheer, is expected in early 2024 via Steven Van Zandt’s Wicked Cool Records.

Steve Conte is an absolute guitar legend known for his memorable guitar work as a member of New York Dolls, as well as former Hanoi Rocks frontman Michael Monroe’s band (with whom he still performs), Steve found international fame in recent years via his collaborations with Japanese composer and artist Yoko Kanno on the soundtracks to several hit anime series, including Cowboy Bebop.

We can’t wait for more music from the amazing Steve Conte

We are just going to come right out and say it.. Derek Smith has crafted a stunningly brilliant work of musical greatness with his latest single “Black Angel”

If you don’t get moved to tears of musical joy after listening to “Black Angel” from Derek Smith we suggest you consult your Doctor.

“Black Angel” is a cinematic song that is quite simply otherworldly. Derek Smith has most definitely taken his amazing musical talents to a whole new level .

I am talking directly to God in this song,” Smith says rather matter-of-factly. “Whatever the concept of God is. Real, fake, whatever. I am not flat-out saying what I believe. Though, I am sure people are smart enough to know what and how I feel.”

With its plugged-in, panoramic sound, “Black Angel” didn’t find a home on his two solo records. But it has become a bit of a staple of The Cosmic Vultures’ live sets, and because of its full-band sound, Smith knew the recorded version could be not only an extension of the Vultures, but the beginning of a process to merge the two entities together.

Written by Smith, “Black Angel” was mixed and produced by David Minehan at Woolly Mammoth Sound in Waltham, MA; and mastered by Dave Locke. Smith performs both lead and backing vocals, acoustic rhythm guitar and Hammond organ on the track, and he enlisted a trio of Vultures to round out the sound and give it a full-band feel.

We are over the moon excited about “Black Angel” from Derek Smith . We think this might be your new favorite song that you just haven’t heard yet.

Paul Nourigat Gives Us A Stunning New Single “Bad Cards” Featuring Paul Brainard,Nick Nourigat & Ji Tanzer

We recently had the amazing opportunity to check out Portland,Oregon based Americana artist Paul Nourigat and his new single “Bad Cards”. You can listen to “Bad Cards” on Spotify Here and on Apple Music Here

You can check out the video for “Bad Cards” below

Paul Nourigat,is living proof that it is never too late to make music . Until five years ago was just a musical bystander. However, he picked up a guitar and five thoughtfully-themed albums later he hasn’t looked back. With steely determination and no formal musical training, Paul learned to play ukulele, guitar, sing, write songs, and produce.

We are absolutely loving his latest single “Bad Cards” .The song features Paul Brainard,Ji Tanner & his son Nick Nourigat on guitar.

At the heart of Paul’s songs is his life. Growing up, his family moved around internationally and nationally as a result of his father’s military career, and he lived in 12 homes by the time he graduated high school. This transient existence forced his sense of independence and mindfulness of the world around him. Just after high school, he survived a brutal and humbling motorcycle accident that claimed a few digits on his shattered hands, after which he discounted playing musical instruments. That is, until his wife of 40 years signed him up for a group ukulele session, which led to guitars, writing over 150 songs, and the rest is history.

My songs speak to people who want to hear stories,” Paul says. He crafts each album with well-developed overarching themes, and each song features narratives with classic story arcs, including sweet resolutions. In the future, Paul plans to leverage his vast unpublished lyrical catalog for other artists, and license his works to film and stage productions. Outside of music, over the past decade Paul has been parlaying his literary gifts as a noted author, writing and publishing 10 books, which are distributed around the world, teaching kids, teens, and young adults about life essentials and financial topics. This year, the country of Canada selected one of his graphic novels for use in its ESL program for 50,000 teens for the next 7 years.

The single Bad Cards is a laidback folk rocker featuring hard-earned wisdom.

It’s a darkest-before-dawn type of song with inspiring lyrics such as: Sun comes up each morning/like a washing machine, /Fixes up our messes/ Helps us all get clean/It’s OK to get beaten down/then set yourself free/When I’m down, I remember, there’s a lotta folks worse off than me.

Paul says.“ “As one of my ten life lessons on this album, this song is about how we all get dealt bad cards,—life can really suck for all of us. Most happy people are not in a good place by chance, they get there through perseverance, hope, and perspective.”

The world needs more artist like Paul Nourigat, He is a gifted musician and talented storyteller who has given us an absolute gem with “Bad Cards “ We will definitely be on the lookout for Paul’s fifth album “Smiles That Pass By”

We recently had the amazing privilege to check out the brand new album from Austin based dark rock meets shoegaze artist Lauren Lakis.

You can listen to “A Fiesta And A Hell” on Spotify Here and on Apple Music Here .

We first discovered the brilliance that is Lauren Lakis this past March with her amazing single “Take My Hand “ which is included on “A Fiesta And A Hell”

“A Fiesta And A Hell” is filled to the brim with the raw and haunting musical tones and cathartic storytelling that makes Lauren Lakis such a special and gifted artist .

On the album she confides, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times” There is no better way for me to describe the past few years. In this time, I’ve grappled with intense grief, personally and for the collective, and anger that sometimes borders on rage. It’s hard to be a loving, open-hearted person in a world that can be so cold and alienating. Many facets of life have felt devoid of warmth and care; many people have felt devoid of warmth and care. And yet, because you can’t have hell without heaven, I’ve been simultaneously shown unconditional love on a scale I’ve never before experienced, too. We truly cannot have light without the dark; words to remember when the world is at its most bleak.”

A Fiesta and a Hell was recorded in Austin, TX with Carey McGraw producing (Wild Child, Josie Lockhart), Elliott Frazier mixing (Ringo Deathstarr, Blushing), and Christopher Colbert (Mazzy Star, Starflyer 59, Leon Bridges) mastering.

There is this very cinematic quality that is present throughout “A Fiesta And A Hell”combined with the authenticity and honesty that Lauren Lakis brings with her unique and refreshing point of view , that makes “A Fiesta And A Hell a true musical treat

We fell instantly for “Terror Tears” , the second single is a battle cry against the media propaganda machine, government hypocrisy and lies, that is set to mesmerizing 80s punk/goth rock inspired beats and reverb soaked guitar and vocals.

Kayla Oh Delivers Her Absolutely Beautiful Debut Single “See Through”

We were simply delighted to check out the debut single “See Through” from 19 year old singer-songwriter Kayla Oh. You can check out “See Through” on Spotify Here and on Apple Music Here .

At just 19 years old, she has developed a stark, diaristic writing style that captures the experience of being a teenage girl: navigating first loves, overcoming heartbreak, grappling with insecurity and comparison, and simultaneously never wanting the teenage dream to end. These themes are the heart of Kayla’s songwriting and storytelling, helping her create music that is both achingly relatable and memorable. Her style is inspired by songwriting legends like Joni Mitchell, Phoebe Bridgers, and Stevie Nicks. Kayla admires and strives for the sort of writing that these women embraced, the kind that is unapologetically honest about womanhood while also being free from the pressure to remain “polite” or “ladylike”.

We are big fans of melodies here at The Whole Kameese , and Kayla Oh has crafted a brilliant melody with “See Through”

Kayla is super excited to share her debut single, “See Through”.

Here’s what she had to say about it: I wrote ‘See Through’about a relationship that ended right before we both went to college. It delves into that confusing feeling you experience when trying to move on from a person, where one moment it feels like you’ve fully healed and the next it feels like you’ve taken 10 steps backwards. At the time that I wrote the song, I was kept incredibly busy by the adjustment period that is starting college, and felt as if I’d healed from the breakup. The truth was, I had never really processed my heartbreak- and the healing I thought I’d felt was just the relief of being distracted. Writing ‘See Through was the first time I admitted to myself that I wasn’t as put together as I hoped to be. The result was a cathartic confession, and some of my most stark and relatable writing. Though I’ve come a long way in my healing since I wrote this song, I’m still really proud of what I was able to articulate then and hope the vulnerability I tapped into consoles listeners like it did for me

We can’t wait to see what Kayla Oh does next ,we have a feel it is going to amazing.

Indie Folk Duo Cattle & Cane Deliver Stunning New Single “Icarus”

We recently had the distinct honor to check out the latest single “Icarus” from UK indie-folk duo brother and sister Joe and Helen Hammill .

You can listen to “Icarus” on Spotify Here and on Apple Music Here

Having previously self-released three albums, as well as a mini album of covers, Joe and his sister Helen have cultivated a successful cottage industry with a passionate core fanbase in their native UK. Their new album ‘Golden’, releases on November 17th 2023, sees the Hammills display a confidence and maturity that brings their soaring sibling harmonies and timeless songwriting front and center.

Tours with the likes of The Head & The Heart and Half Moon Run, as well as support slots with Brian Wilson, Tom Odell and Lewis Capaldi, have helped Cattle & Cane establish a reputation as a truly magical live act – which anybody who caught their sets at Canadian Music Week in Toronto, Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg or BBC Radio 2 Live In Hyde Park in London can attest to.

“Icarus” is the kind of song that you will remember long after the music has faded .”Icarus “ is an absolutely beautiful melody with flawless vocals. Cattle & Cane are a duo that we think is just getting warmed up .

With editorial support on playlists such as Very Nearly Nashville, Folk Pop, Feelgood Pop, Your Coffee Break, Fresh Folk, Laidback Acoustic, Feelgood Indie and New Music Fridays in multiple countries, Cattle & Cane have accumulated almost 30m Spotify streams. Over on radio, they’ve picked up praise from legendary tastemakers including Elton John, Dermot O’Leary and Steve Lamacq. Their new album was initially slated for 2022, but Helen and Joe stepped away from music last year to focus on life away from music – without going into details, it’s fair to say that life can be tough at times. With that in mind, it’s perhaps befitting that hope is a theme that reoccurs throughout the new record, and that the importance of family is also integral to the album – which is reflected in the artwork for the campaign being built around childhood photos of Joe and Helen.

Teen Idle Delivers Powerful and Heartfelt Debut Album “Nonfiction”

Recently we got the chance to listen to the absolutely stunning debut album “Nonfiction” via H1 Massive from , New Jersey indie-pop project Teen Idle . Teen Idle is the project of multi-instrumentalist,songwriter, and producer Sara Abdelbarry. You can listen to “Nonfiction” on Spotify Here and on Apple Music Here

We were moved beyond words by the stunning debut album “Nonfiction “ Sara Abdelbarry brilliantly and artfully weaves together 11 emotional and melodically and sonically tracks that literally has us hanging on every word .

We loved the singles that preceded “Nonfiction “ “Birthday Cake,”Norway” and “Saccharine” are beautifully crafted songs that showcase the extraordinary musical talents of Sara Abdelbarry.

“I named the record Nonfiction because it’s literally what it would be like to open up my journal and read my thoughts over these specific few years in my life,” says Abdelbarry. “That being said, I hope whoever listens to this album can appreciate the varied experiences that come with growing up and see my own version of the moments of heartbreak, joy, and anger that come with that. The album is brutally honest and lays it all out on the table without any sugar coating – besides a song literally titled ‘Saccharine’ [laughs]. So, anyone in search of honesty will find a nice companion in these songs.”

We think the honesty that Sara , speaks of is why these songs are so power .

I think each single sounds more different than the one that came before it. They all progressively build up to an idea that’s prevalent on the record, which is that our experiences can be made up of multiple textures that are seemingly different from one another but are really just parts to a whole. As multi-faceted human beings, we have all these different parts to us, identities that might seem to be at odds with each other but ultimately just make us the unique people we are. I’ve never phrased it that way before, but I guess I just realized what I’m actually trying to accomplish by making albums.”

We could help but draw the comparison of the late great Elliot Smith, while listening to “Nonfiction. The songs “Things You Say “ and “Every Night “ were two songs that we had constant repeat , the melodies and imagery in those songs are simply otherworldly.

Do yourself a favor and let yourself fall head over heels in love with “Nonfiction” from Teen Idle.

Teen Idle Gives Us A Sweet New Single “Saccharine “

New album ‘Nonfiction’ set for release by indie label H1 Massive on September 29

We recently checked out the new single “Saccharine” from Teen Idle. It is the third single from New Jersey singer-songwriter,multi-instrumentalist and producer Sara Abdelbarry’s debut album “Nonfiction “ out next month via H1 Massive.

You can listen to “Saccharine” on Spotify Here and on Apple Music Here

We have throughly enjoyed the previous singles “Birthday Cake” and “Norway” from Teen Idle and , we were anxiously awaiting the latest single “Saccharine”

The end-of-summer arrival of “Saccharine” aligns nicely with the track’s lyrical themes, which center around a relationship that’s starting to fade. “Saccharine” follows last month’s “Norway,” a song about being trapped in one’s hometown as an emerging adolescent and needing escape; and July’s “Birthday Cake,” where Abdelbarry watches a friend continue to make bad choices. Her latest offering glides with ease, surveying the fall of a doomed love while recalling contemporaries like Japanese Breakfast, HAIM, and Maggie Rogers.

It seems the layers of sweetness on “Saccharine “ are endless. We found ourselves absolutely mesmerized by the catchy melodies and beats that had us instantly hooked . In our opinion, “Saccharine “ in our opinion is exactly what the perfect indie-pop song should sound like. And… the absolute cherry on top of this sweet song is the amazing saxophone solo. We were so impressed by the saxophone which was brilliantly performed by New York City jazz saxophonist and Bjorkestra maestro Travis Sullivan, who through a magnetic sax performance brings a calm flair to the subtle yet dramatic track, enhancing its low-key dynamism.

“‘Saccharine’ is a song with a title that’s both sincere and sarcastic at the same time,” Abdelbarry says. “Call it a breakup song if you will – every album needs one – but the song reflects on a romance and the realization that things can start off pretty sweet but quickly turn sour if both people don’t put in the work to make a relationship last. The song chronicles the end of a relationship and the feelings of hurt, disrespect, and anger you can experience while still remembering the joyful moments.”

Music is all about painting a picture through notes and melodies. Through Teen Idle , Sara Abdelbarry has crafted an absolute masterpiece.

Drawing inspiration from established artists like Lori McKenna, Phoebe Bridgers, and Joni Mitchell, her unique sound blends elements of country and indie pop, creating an evocative atmosphere that captures the hearts of her listeners. Her talent has not gone unnoticed by her musical heroes, as evidenced by Maggie Rogers joining her for multiple duets on TikTok.

Richard March Delivers A Brilliant Collection Of Song , With Latest LP “Let The Winter Come “

We recently had the pleasure to check out the phenomenal new LP “Let The Winter Come “from Sacramento based singer-songwriter Richard March .

You can listen to “Let The Winter Come” on Bandcamp Here You can also watch the video for “Let The Winter Come” below

We found “Let The Winter Come “ which, is the fourth record from Richard March , to be an extraordinary musical experience.

Richard March has an easy and relatable vibe in his music. While the songs remind us of other artists, such as Tom Petty , Jackson Brown and Jason Isbell , Richard March has his own style and vibe . Currently based in Sacramento, Richard is originally from the Bay Area an influence that also shines through in his songs.

Powerful moments that have shaped his songwriting include the loss of his son Gabriel, to Krabbe’s syndrome, a rare, incurable genetic defect before his first birthday, and the divorce that followed that painful time. March also took time away from performing in 2013 when he joined the Peace Corps and spent 27 months as an education volunteer in Ethiopia. Despite the deeply emotive lyrics and themes explored in his songs, March keeps his tempos bright and his musical language breezy, in keeping with his California, country-soul tradition.

The album opens with the hard-luck heartland acoustic-rocker, “Leaving,” which recalls Steve Earle at his most viscerally vulnerable. March opens up here about losing his son and his divorce. His words speak to a lump-in-your-throat swell of emotion. He sings: Leaving, startin’ new/Heavy feet are hard to move/Taking off ‘fore the glue gets dry/Hope you learned a thing or two/Buddy when this is through/You better not ask why.

On the seething, “Abraham,” March shines a line on the horrors of modern war, recalling Bob Dylan’s “Masters Of War” and, more recently, Jason Isbell’s “Dress Blues.” He points the finger at the politicians, generals, and American Military Industrial Complex, through the metaphor of Abraham. March tackles the world’s deepening climate and economic crises in “Happy New Year” with cinematic writing that paints a stirring portrait of the fallout from our “greed is good” model. “The unregulated American capitalism that took off in the 1980’s, decimated the middle class and has left us with an ever widening gap between the 1% vs the 99%,” he says. “Now, post pandemic, economic despair fuels a drug crisis and unaffordable housing creates tent cities.”

As for the title of album March explains . “I am a winter person—it’s when I feel a strong sense of ‘home,’ and feel ‘held’ by my environment as opposed to threatened. During this time, I am at my most creative,”

“Let The Winter Come “ by Richard March is an album that should be on the top of any music lovers list . We highly recommend this extraordinary record .

This record is very ‘glass half empty’. I have that specific outlook on life,” Smith says. “But I am not always a pessimistic person. I get into my moods and then I write. I don’t think I know what it’s like to write a song in a good mood. But I asked myself how I could tell a story with songs without having a linear storyline. I just wanted songs to fill gaps. If my brain was a puzzle, I needed to find the right pieces to make it feel like one complete thought. That is “Obscura” in a nutshell.”
