We recently had the amazing opportunity to check out the new single, “Broken Promises”, from British multi-instrumentalist, producer, and singer-songwriter Luke Marzec. You can listen to “Broken Promises” Here
Any day we get to listen to the smooth sounds of Luke Marzec, it’s a good day. We were absolutely mesmerized by the otherworldly vocals from Luke Marzec, on “Broken Promises”
“‘Broken Promises’ is about new beginnings. It’s about jumping on a plane, going to the other side of the world, and starting afresh,” Luke Marzec explains about his luminous new single which blends raw reflection and hopeful renewal over warm analog textures and plaintive vocal.

The track feels both bright and cathartic and continues to build momentum for Marzec’s debut album, Something Good Out Of Nothing, set for release on August 18, 2025 via Swift Half Records. He adds, “And although I know that to confront the issues in your life – to learn from your mistakes and to live a better life – I know that that requires introspection and to work on yourself, and it’s a long and steady road, but there’s another part of me that thinks… Sometimes it might just be your surroundings. Maybe you can get bored. Maybe when you’re bored, you end up not living properly, and you end up making mistakes, and accidentally just being a slightly shitter version of yourself. But, if you live life with adventure… if you do jump on that plane, go to the other side of the world, experience a new place, and get excited by life again; maybe that really could be the catalyst that will get you to be excited about life, to smell the roses, and to take life by the horns, and ultimately become a better you. Life really is an adventure.”
The beautifully crafted , “Broken Promises”, from Luke Marzec, further cements the case that Luke Marzec, is a voice you need to pay attention to.

We had the absolutely amazing opportunity, to check out the new single, “Laurel”, from Boston , based high-energy funk and soul-pop group , The Far Out. You can listento “Laurel” Here
The Far Out, are one of those bands, that make us want scream “We Love Music! “ “Laurel” is a funky, soulful track that we fall deeper and deeper in love with every time we hear it.
The Far Out’s vibrant new retro-soul single “Laurel,” is the latest slice of high-energy funk-pop from the rising Boston sextet that hits the streams today, (Friday, May 30) . “Laurel” is the follow-up to February’s supercharged single “Funkadelic Gas,” and both infectious tracks will be featured on the “New Act of the Year” recipient at the 2024 New England Music Awards’ forthcoming debut album, set for release this summer.
“Laurel,” with its Yacht Rock cool, charismatic swagger, and alluring sax n’ brass sass, also throws it back to the golden era of ‘70s songwriting with clever lyrical wordplay and charming innuendo, juxtaposing the music’s optimistic and upbeat nature with a heartbreak situation just bubbling under the surface.
‘Laurel’ is deceptively not a love song,” says lead vocalistOlivia Lowe. “It’s about continuing to see someone romantically despite knowing that it’s going nowhere, because they will never commit to being fully or exclusively with you. The chorus ‘rest on my Laurel’ is a play on words, where it’s just easier to stay with this person rather than make the effort to leave them.”
Lowe paints an unfulfilled picture in the lyrics that is deliberately opposed to the overall vibe of the song, which feels like the perfect summer bop to add to all our beach-going and care-free day playlists. But that’s also the point – something that feels sunny and warm on the surface may not be what it seems after a deeper dive into what’s really going on.
“I hope that when people hear it, they dance,” Lowe adds. “But I hope that when they listen more closely to the lyrics, they understand that it’s okay to get out once something stops being fun or isn’t right for them anymore. I was able to easily write this happy-sounding, confident song because I’m firmly on the other side of the exact situation it describes.”
And for Lowe, band life in The Far Out is a happy relationship as well – and that comes out in the effortless cool and creative chemistry displayed by the collective of close friends and multi-instrumentalists, rounded out on “Laurel” by core members Ellie Dolan (trumpet, backing vocals); Ryan Fremont-Smith (bass guitar, backing vocals); Drew Phillips (drums); Colin Senechal (tenor saxophone); and Henry Zagarella (keys, organ, backing vocals).
“Laurel” is a great balance of the sounds of the past mixed with a vibrant energy that points to the future.
Penned by Lowe, Zagarella, and Phillips, “Laurel” flexes what The Far Out does best – it cranks up the energy and creates its own mood through sheer infectiousness and positive vibes. “Laurel” was recorded with Fremont-Smith as engineer at FS Studios, with drums and mixing engineered by Sean McLaughlin at 37′ Productions. The track was mastered by Jeff Lipton at Peerless Mastering with assistant mastering by engineer Costanza Tini.
“Laurel “ , from The Far Out, is a track that your ears must hear.
We recently had the distinct honor to check out the new single, “Stone Cold”, from London-born, Bali-based soul artist Sydney Jo Jackson. You can listen to “Stone Cold”, on Spotify Here, Apple Music, Here
It is nearly impossible, not to be completely mesmerized by Sydney Jo Jackson, and her absolutely stunning vocal ability. “Stone Cold”, is Sydney Jo Jackson, at her absolute best.
Photographer: Bryan Michael Ham
“Stone Cold.” A deeply personal ballad born from pain, self-reflection, and ultimately, healing, “Stone Cold” marks a pivotal moment in Jackson’s journey — both musically and emotionally.
Written in her bedroom in Bali, the song emerged in a late-night haze, the melody coming to life while she was, in her own words, “drunk and overwhelmed with feelings I had buried for years.” Originally laced with expletives, the track evolved into something more nuanced — a powerful, articulate reckoning with the past.
Stone Cold is about the marriage I had to walk away from — one where I experienced domestic abuse and completely lost myself trying to save someone who didn’t want to be saved,”Jackson shares. “It’s been five years since my divorce, and this is the first time I’ve truly unpacked what happened. Music gave me the space to confront the trauma head-on.”
The single explores the heartbreaking truth that love alone isn’t always enough — especially when only one person is fighting to keep the relationship alive. “No matter how much I wanted it to work, it was never meant to be,” she says. “This song helped me understand why I allowed someone to treat me that way — and why I’ll never allow it again.”
With her signature husky, soulful vocals and unflinching honesty, Sydney Jo Jackson delivers a song that will resonate with anyone who’s had to choose themselves over a love that hurt them. “Stone Cold” is more than a breakup song — it’s an anthem of survival.
“Stone Cold”, from Sydney Jo Jackson, is a powerful and important song that needs to be heard.

Full disclosure: up until today we were unfamiliar with the absolutely stunning artistry that is NOSHOWS . ( We are truly sorry it took us this long to come to the party)
NYC’s Max Satow, professionally known as NOSHOWS, is finding a fascinating niche as a singer-songwriter and frontman by fusing explorations of the inner workings of the mind with a wildly eclectic blend of alt-rock, hip-hop, and funk.
From the moment we heard the opening melody on “Use To It” we were immediately captivated. The vocals and melodic tones are so perfect that they are a work of art worthy to be displayed at the finest museums .
NOSHOWS has gained a loyal fan base from its electrifying shows at NYC’sGramercyTheatre, Mercury Lounge, Sofar Sounds residency, UK’s Great Escape Festival, and most recently, a run of Northeast tour dates with Brass Against.
The EP, artfully makes you not only move your feet but it also makes think, which goes along with Satow’s lifelong fascination with the chaos and psyche of the human mind, and his advocacy of such issues, has its roots in his family’s founding of The Jed Foundation, a non-profit that protects emotional health and prevents suicide for teens and young adults, giving them the skills and support they need to thrive. It was inspired by and named after the singer’s uncle, who took his own life.
Satow has created a mental health hub of his own with Magnify the Mind, a community whose mission is to educate and advocate for those who need emotional support. NOSHOWSTightrope EP, co-produced/co-written with two-time Grammy winner Marc Swersky (Joe Cocker, Little Stranger) and mixed by Seth Von Paulus (Smashing Pumpkins, Linda Perry)
We found ourselves, especially drawn to the track, “Let Me Sleep” , flawless vocals coupled with a memorable melody , “Let Me Sleep” is an absolute smash hit.
The title track, “Tightrope” has a real dance/ disco feel . We have a feeling that “Tightrope” could be a future dance club staple.
The new EP, “Tightrope” from NOSHOWS, is an absolute musical triumph that you have to experience immediately.
We recently had the remarkable opportunity to check out the new single , “I Can’t Get You Out Of Your Mind” , from British multi-instrumentalist, producer, and singer-songwriter Luke Marzec. You can listen to “I Can’t Get You Out Of My Mind “ on Spotify Here and on Apple Music Here
We were absolutely blown away by the big beautiful sound of “I Can’t Get You Out Of My Mind “ from Luke Marzec . The big beautiful soulful sound on the track is absolutely breathtaking.
When asked to describe the sound , Luke shares “It’s a retro sound. It’s a vintage sound but with a twist,”
Taken from his debut album, Something Good Out Of Nothing which will be released in two parts – Side A (release date: March 28) and Side B (to be released in Summer 2025), the single seamlessly balances the spiky, angular verses – that hearken the jazzy R&B vibe of Amy Winehouse – with Marzec’s warm gruff vocals alongside dreamy, reflective choruses and is his most refined and confident work yet. It marks the first release from Swift Half Records, the newly established London-based label that has signed Marzec.
Written during a summer retreat in the woods, “I Can’t Get You Out of My Mind” explores the emotional turbulence of a breakup, opening with a captivating blend of swirling synth arpeggios, before dropping into a captivating groove that fuses funk, soul, and jazz. “We set up a makeshift studio in the woods—a marquee with speakers, a drum machine, and a fire pit. It was raw, intimate, and incredibly inspiring,” recalls Marzec. Inspired by standout tracks from Amy Winehouse’s Back To Black and Arctic Monkeys’ AM,Marzec’s gravelly vocals and sharp songwriting touch on the emotional complexities of loss and regret, guiding listeners through a soundscape of indecision and longing.
If you are looking for your next favorite song , look no further than “I Can’t Get You Out Of My Mind “ from Luke Marzec. It is absolutely amazingly brilliant.
We recently had the opportunity to check out the new single “Wish You Stayed “ from emerging pop singer Julia Raye . You can listen to “Wish You Stayed” Here
“Wish You Stayed” was produced by Bret “Epic” Mazur—known for his work with Crazy Town, Prince, and the Black Eyed Peas—the track follows in the footsteps of her recent hits, “Expectations” and “Give You Up.”
With its tender guitar melody and Julia’s signature soul-stirring vocals, “Wish You Stayed” captures the quiet ache of losing a relationship that once felt perfect. Overflowing with emotional depth, the lyrics tap into those raw moments of reflection when you’re left questioning how everything unraveled.
I wrote this song in the midst of mourning a relationship, so I took inspiration from all of the texts I sent to friends and the little notes I’d written down on my phone,”Julia says. “Ultimately, it’s about cherishing and reflecting on the good moments, even when you know it’s time to let go.”
Soulful, powerful, honest and authentic, “Wish You Stayed “ is Julia Raye at her absolute best .

We recently had the opportunity to check outMassachusetts, singer, musician, actress, and dancer Michelle Forziati, and her amazing new alt-R&B single “Strings” You can listen to “Strings” on Spotify Here and Apple Music Here.
“Strings” from Michelle Forziati, caught our attention right from the start . We love the unique R&B / Alt sound on “Strings” it is a refreshing change of pace that is definitely needed in today’s musical landscape.
Melodically, “Strings” is a mesmerizing melody that Forziati, compliments with a flawless vocal performance.
“Strings” , is the follow-up to April’s “Stranger,” which found the multihyphenate creative – a former ballroom dance instructor who also played the role of Jill Hurley in the 2017 Jake Gyllenhaal-leading biographical drama film Stronger, about Jeff Bauman’s recovery in the aftermath of the Boston Marathon bombing – taking her musical output to new, ambitious heights.
When asked about asked “Strings”, Forziati shared,
“I absolutely love guitars, they just speak to every part of me,”Forziati says. “The sounds they create are mesmerizing and almost put me in a trance. ‘Strings’ is about loving the sound of a guitar so much that the person playing it captivates me and I fall in love. However, it’s manipulative because the performer knows it and he abuses that love.”
The track also features guitar by Michael Strakus and bass by Steve Constantino, two players known in the Boston music scene for their work in Derek Smith and the CosmicVultures. “Strings”, was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Monty Dale at GraybeardRecording
Michelle Forziati has a style and sound that is impossible to ignore, her refreshing and soulful approach on “Strings” is pure musical perfection.

We recently had the amazing opportunity to check out the new single and video “Pilot” from Strange Music artist Jehry Robinson.
You can listen to “Pilot” Here You can also check out the video for “Pilot” below.
From note one “Pilot”from Jehry Robinson, you can sense immediately that you are in for an absolute gem. We love the style and sound of Jehry Robinson, it is exactly what is needed in today’s somewhat mundane musical landscape.
On the track, nimbly plucked guitar gives way to a head-nodding beat kickstarted by simmering cymbals. Jehry alternates between hummable melodies and airtight rhymes on the verses. However, his vocals really take flight on the chantable chorus, “I think we’re going down, so I went to see the pilot cause I been getting tired, let’s turn this plane around.” In the accompanying visual, Jehry assumes the multiple roles of passengers on a commercial flight, breaking through the turbulence as our hero confronts the man at the wheel (who just so happens to be him).
About “Pilot,” he commented, “It’s about being the pilot of your own life and you can always turn it around. You’re in control to follow your destiny.” That’s exactly what he’s doing…
“Pilot”, notably arrives on the heels of his 2023 album, Drink More Water. The latter has already amassed over 2 million streams and counting. Meanwhile, it earned widespread critical acclaim.
We are all in on “Pilot”. and we think Jehry Robinson is just getting warmed up. We can’t wait to see what he does next .

Jessica Doolan has one of those magical voices that once you hear it , you’ll never forget.
We recently had the distinct honor to chat with Jessica and learn more about this incredible up and coming artist.
Artist Of The Day January 11th: Jessica Doolan
The Whole Kameese:Hi Jessica, thank you so much for taking the time for chatting with us at The Whole Kameese
Jessica Doolan:Thank you for having me!
The Whole Kameese: Can you tell us when you started singing? Do you come from a musical family ?
Jessica Doolan: I started singing when I was about 3 or 4! My family are very musical. I have memories of jamming along to my dads guitar making up melodies and random lyrics. My brother plays the piano incredibly well, my mum sings and my dad plays nearly every instrument!
The Whole Kameese: If someone has never heard you sing before, how would you describe your singing style/sound ? .
Jessica Doolan:I would describe it as Soul-Pop. I grew up listening to artists like Nina Simone, Etta James and Amy Winehouse and I was facinated hearing how much passion was in their voices!
The Whole Kameese:
How old were you when you wrote your first song? Do you remember what it was called?
Jessica Doolan: I was 10 when I wrote my first full song. It was called ‘ Mise Sa Todhchai’ which means Dear Future Self in the Irish language. I wrote my first songs in Irish. I love the sound of the language being sung.
The Whole Kameese: If you could do a duet with anyone , who would it be and why?
Jessica Doolan: My dream duet would probably be Alicia Keys. She’s the coolest!
The Whole Kameese:We absolutely love your debut single “Stay Or Surrender “ Can you tell us the story behind the song?
Jessica Doolan:I wrote the song about my first ever heartbreak. It’s quite raw and honest and I knew I had to put it out the minute I wrote it. I was in a relationship that wasn’t very good for me and I didn’t know whether to stay or go. It felt like I could never escape the feeling of being lovesick & that the heartbreak would stay in my system forever. After I put the song out I got so many messages of people saying it resonated with them. It made me feel less alone!
The Whole Kameese: Coffee or Tea?
Jessica Doolan: I’m a tea girl! Nothing better than getting into your pajamas and making a cup of tea
The Whole Kameese: If you could play a show anywhere, where would that be and why ?
Jessica Doolan : I think playing Madison Square Garden is definitely at the top of my dream list! It’s such an iconic venue and so many of my inspirations have played there.

Jessica Doolan: I’m listening to a lot of Sade, Sampha and Teddy Swims!
The Whole Kameese : If you could give one piece of advice to young musicians/singers who are just starting out , what would it be and why?
Jessica Doolan: I would say don’t be afraid of failing. It’s always daunting putting yourself out into the world and sharing your art but remember it’s your purpose and you should never let the doubts take over your mind. It’s all about the journey and I always think about a quote I read. It was ‘ The desire to succeed will never be more powerful than having the guts to fail’.
The Whole Kameese: What can we expect from Jessica Doolan in 2024?
Jessica Doolan: A lot more music & a lot more shows!!! I’m hoping to play my first ever headline show this year, I’m so excited.
