The debut album, from Beta Trip, Superette, out September 26 on Having Fun, the rock imprint of We Are Busy Bodies.

The first single, “Juliet,” offers a high-energy introduction to Lewin’s matured sonic vision. Melodic, emotionally resonant, and firmly rooted in the atmospherics of Britpop and the grit of 90s alternative rock, “Juliet” kicks off a ten-track journey that bridges nostalgic textures with fresh perspective. It marks Lewin’s return to his roots under the Beta Trip moniker, drawing influence from Elbow, Radiohead, and Pearl Jam.

Crafted in collaboration with her creative partner and significant other, producer and songwriter Cade Hoppe in their Brooklyn home studio, the album is her most fearless and fully realized work to date. Every track, on , “On The Phone With My Mom “ has us hanging on every word and melody. We felt absolutely captivated by the the title track, “On The Phone With My Mom” It is euphoric melody, that stayed with us long after the music faded . We also loved the energy on , “Any Day Now “

If we had to pick a favorite track, ( which is almost impossible to do) we would absolutely pick, “You Could Break My Heart “ it is Maddie, at her absolute best .

Originally from Toronto and now based in New York City, Maddie discovered her passion for songwriting at just 12 years old, using music as a tool to navigate her anxieties and give voice to her innermost thoughts. Andy Stochansky, has this unique level of coolness in his music that we absolutely love , it shines beautifully on “Like The Sun”

Stochansky explains, “It’s a song about admonishing one’s self for not telling the other person in the relationship that you love them enough. At the end of the chorus, I wanted the feeling of love to be warm and beautiful like the sun.”

Known for his vivid lyrics and organic instrumentation, Andy captures the wonder of everyday life through music. On Poetry Of Birds, he embraces simplicity and the natural world, a response to the overwhelming pace of modern life. “Nature can teach us everything we need,” he shares. “Poetry Of Birds is a reminder to notice the beauty around us.”

Throughout his career, the Toronto native has built an impressive resume: seven years touring and recording with Ani DiFranco, acclaimed solo albums like Radio Fusebox and 5 Star Motel, and co-writing global hits such as “Shine” (covered by Shannon Noll, an eight-week #1 in Australia). His songs have appeared in films, TV shows, and major soundtracks like The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1.

Now based in Los Angeles, Andy has written for artists like Dragonette, Goo Goo Dolls, and Lola Lennox. In 2020, he launched White Elephant Orchestra, with praise from NPR’s World Café.

What really stood out for us on “Like The Sun”, from Andy Stochansky, was the beautiful melodic arrangements throughout “Like The Sun” that gave the track its extra shine.

A hypnotic blend of raw emotion and sonic exploration, “Miss Virgo” showcases Maddie’s mesmerizing vocals floating over a cinematic, dreamlike soundscape. It’s ethereal yet weighty, intimate yet expansive, with thoughtfully layered production enhances her raw songwriting. 

We were absolutely awash in the melodic wonderment that swims freely on “Miss Virgo” Maddie Regent, has truly delivered something special.

One of the album’s most sonically adventurous tracks, “Miss Virgo” also stands as one of Maddie’s most deeply personal songs to date. It unpacks her struggles with body image and the formative time she spent in a recovery center at the age of 17, healing from an eating disorder — a chapter marked by both pain and profound connection

At its heart, the song is a tribute to the unlikely sisterhood she found there. “At first, I just wanted to go home, but I couldn’t. So for a while, my world became that little cabin in the woods, and my family became this group of fiercely strong girls from every walk of life. We bonded over our mutual distrust of the nurses, our collective crush on the one male specialist, crocheting, and watching Pretty Little Liars. Although every day I was there I didn’t want to be there, I really do have fond memories from that place, mostly because of the people I met.”

We were also so blessed to be able to share so much amazing music . We have made the difficult decision to put the blog on the back burner. At this time we need to focus on other important matters. Päter Delivers Cinematic Gem With “Catching Cold”

On swells of cinematic strings, Päter’s latest single the nocturnal “Catching Cold,” chases elusive memories. During the writing process when the song’s pieces finally fell into place, Päter knew it was about their childhood immigration from Iran which left them with the feeling that something intangible was missing. Its sprawling piano offers a peephole into that recollection, the longing it brings, and the “endless itch in my coat” it has left.

In 2020, Parmida emerged as Päter with their first single “Dam, Damn,” a well-received debut that’s amassed 2.4M streams and counting. It opened the doors to the Päterverse, a sonic space inspired by coming-of-age narratives and Päter’s early influences (The Strokes, Kate Bush, Mother Mother) with writing that lives somewhere between Muse and Hillary Duff (yes, really).

The resultant mix’s compelling character and extravagance hint at artists like Neko Case, HAIM, and Fiona Apple with more dissonant forms of melody and harmony derived from the classical Iranian music absorbed during Päter’s youth. After two vibrant EPs, Päter’s forthcoming debut LP 4-7 Company explores the evening hours between work and social life when solitude leads to wandering thoughts.

After two vibrant EPs, Päter’s forthcoming debut LP 4-7 Company explores the evening hours between work and social life when solitude leads to wandering thoughts.

During the writing process, which largely took place over their time in a theatre program, Päter was inspired to look inward and confront blocks that lived in their body and mind. It initiated a painful yet positive transition of examining depression and doubts, digging out demons, and charting chaos and cognitive dissonance to arrive at ease in their own company. Päter had long admired Juno-winning Howard Redekopp for his work with Mother Mother (also known for Tegan and Sara, the New Pornographers, Said the Whale) and was thrilled when he jumped on board to co-produce 4-7 Company. A highlight of the recording process was sourcing a vintage upright piano with a magical warm tone that showcased the songs’ intimacy, providing fruitful foundations for them to blossom. 

Päter will be taking their upbeat, exuberant live show on tour for the first time, spanning Canada, the US, and eventually beyond. The self-directed video for 4-7 Company’s lead single “Nicotine Hallelujah” was an official selection at the 2023 Austin Under the Stars Film Festival as well as the 2024 Toronto Short Film Festival. 4-7 Company arrives in Spring 2024.

“We recorded the sunset sessions at an island on the St. Lawrence river — there’s a beautiful remote cottage there that I knew would be the perfect setting for this project,” he says. “All of the ‘bright orange everglow’ songs were written about specific moments in my relationship, and a large portion of these memories are from the 1000 Islands area. It felt serendipitous to be able to make this project a reality at the place where the songs originated. ‘sunset sessions’ means the world to to me, because I believe the live versions of the songs show the truest form of all these recordings.”
