Commenting on the track, front man Steffan Dafydd says: The song is about life’s inevitabilities, and the feeling that you aren’t in control of your own choices. It depicts an emotional or existential journey—one of letting go, being carried by something greater, and accepting the inevitable return to a previous state. These themes are seen across the entire album, the sense of fatalism and surrendering to some force.”

The line that opens the song is what kicked the writing process off—this powerful, captivating line that hooks you and takes you away. It felt so organic. It became this earworm we couldn’t shake, and we wanted it to be the central part of the song, the thing we always come back to. That hooking effect also inspired a lot of the lyrics, this unseen force capturing you and taking you away.”

The new single is the latest to be taken from their forthcoming second album Y Dwylo Uwchben (The Hands Above), set for release on April 11th, 2025 via Halen Records.

It follows on from lead single ‘Cuddio Tu Ôl Y Llen’ released earlier this year, and the music video for follow up single ‘Paid Trio’ (Don’t Try), which premiered with S4C’s new Welsh music and contemporary culture show Lŵp.

A special album launch show is planned for  April, 17th 2025 at legendary local venue Clwb Ifor Bach in the band’s hometown of Cardiff, and the group recently announced they will support fellow Walsh crew Goldie Lookin Chain on their Autumn 2025 UK tour dates(see below for listings).

Combining the visceral and the vulnerable, Breichiau Hir have distinguished themselves within Cardiff’s vibrant music scene with their distinctive take on Welsh-language rock music.  Their intense live shows invite catharsis through introspection and unbridled energy. Their ability to switch from explosive walls of sound to gossamer ostinato allow the band to resonate from the most intimate of venues to the festival stage.

You need to stop what you are doing and embrace the musical goodness of Yn Tynnu Fi Fel Cortyn’ (Pulling Me Like A Rope) from Breichiau Hir

Bright Light Bright Light And Donna Lewis , Deliver Pop Collaboration With “Enjoy Youth”

We recently had the amazing opportunity to check out the stunning new collaboration with, Bright Light Bright Light and Donna Lewis and their amazing new single “Enjoy Youth” (Welsh Version)

You can listen to “Enjoy Youth” ( Welsh Version) on Spotify Here, Apple Music Here

We were absolutely enchanted by “Enjoy Youth”, from acclaimed LGBTQ+ artist Bright Light Bright Light featuring platinum selling Welsh superstar Donna Lewis. We love the vibe and sound and simply can’t get enough.

The English and Welsh language version features the timeless hit maker known for “I Love You Always Forever” adding her stunning ethereal vocals. Complimenting the production crafted by Bright Light Bright Light and Jon Shave, who was recently GRAMMY-nominated for his work on Charli XCX’s ‘Brat’, “Enjoy Youth” is a must hear collaboration.

The song is partly translated into Welsh by fellow Welsh singer-songwriter Al Lewis, honouring Rod’s own homeland and personal roots growing up in Wrexham, North Wales.

Speaking about the new version, Bright Light Bright Light says: “As a teen growing up in Wales, I feel so absolutely in love with Donna’s voice on ‘I Love You Always Forever’, ‘Without Love’ and ‘Silent World’ from her debut album. When I thought about ways to honour where I’m from, I thought about singing in Welsh and as a deeply 90s child, I immediately heard Donna’s voice on the song. She’s an absolute sweetheart who has kept her ethereal voice somehow exactly the same over the decades. I’m absolutely floored that this artist I’ve loved so long is helping me pay homage to my homeland. It feels so magical.”

Cursive Youth Deliver Epic New Single “Car Crash”

We recently had the opportunity to check out the new single “Car Crash” from Welsh alt-indie duo Cursive Youth. You can listen to “Car Crash” on Spotify Here and on Apple Music Here

We absolutely love the melodic precision of the stunning new track, “Car Crash”, from Cursive Youth.

Car Crash” ( their second single) ,  follows quickly from their well received debut ‘i’m gonna pretend that i’m not sad your leaving’ and delves into the turbulence of a volatile relationship, mirroring the intensity and destruction of a car crash exploring the raw emotions and exhilaration found in a relationship that teeters on the edge of destruction yet remains irresistibly thrilling.

Youth Cursive, does a brilliant job of crafting a great track that vividly paint the picture of a love affair fraught with toxicity and passion, the song captures the paradoxical nature of a bond that is both destructive and exhilarating. Rapidly becoming known for their distinctive blend of introspective lyrics and infectious melodies,

Youth Cursive, without a doubt, is a duo on the rise we can’t wait to see what they do next.
