Boston alt-rock trio unleashes its latest whirling single ahead of live show at The Middle East in Cambridge on June 22
The Rupert Selection are masters in creating the most epic grooves our ears have heard in quite some time and… their latest single “Taking Turns” is no exception.
You can listen to “Taking Turns “ on Spotify Here and on Apple Music Here
“Taking Turns” is the fast follow-up to last month’s “I Saw God,” and lyrically centers around being lost in the void, an out-of-body mental experience spawned by drug-induced anxiety. It was produced by Brian Charles at Mad Oak Studios in Allston, and is another loud piece to the band’s forthcoming album, out later this year.
What we love about The Rupert Selection is they do such a magnificent job of delivering a sound that is very familiar however the band artfully makes it all their own
‘Taking Turns’ started from a verse riff and melody I’ve had forever but for whatever reason could never really find a home for,” says Somach. “One day in practice I just started playing it and Peter and Sam jumped in and it started coming together. I started playing the chorus riff after and 30 minutes later it was done.”

The Rupert Selection are definitely a band who seem musically and creatively locked in and if we’re being honest the results have been freaking awesome.
“Following ‘I Saw God’, this song definitely continues the heavier musical path we’ve been on,” adds Somach. “The theme of this album was definitely to make things bigger, heavier but also emphasize we’re a three-piece. Trying to do more with less. Keeping things simple and not overthinking.”
We can’t wait for more music from The Rupert Selection. Until then we will keep “Taking Turns “ on constant repeat.
The Rupert Selection is:
Reilly Somach – Vocals and guitar
