On “NUKETOWN” KTJ&CARLY explore the tumultuous relationship we have with ourselves

We were not even a second in on the opening track “Backfire” and we were already very impressed, at the very very beginning of “Backfire” it sounds like the track is being played on a record player – brilliant! The vocals are front and center on “Backfire” and they are stunning. Backfire,” puts listeners in the center of a vicious cycle of doing your best and facing the worst. It starts with subtle, soft vocals climbing to a robust, synth chorus filled with club-inspired beats and a waterfall of harmonies.

The next track “Body” is a beautifully written track with a powerful message. An autobiographical track pulled from Carly’s real life dissociation disorder, it starts with a gritty guitar and tentative vocals, growing in intensity with the slamming beat of the chorus. “Sitting next to myself while you sweet talk my skeleton / I didn’t hear you / no I wasn’t listening” is just one moment where the lyrics mirror the powerful realization of finding yourself constantly outside of your own body. “Body” has a real haunting vibe that really give the track another dimension.

We were immediately drawn to the track “Shitty People “ when it was released as a single back in March. There is this certain elegance with this track . The vocals are absolutely flawless. We love how the melody has an old time feel that morphs into a futuristic vibe .

While it is always near impossible to pick a favorite track, we are completely over the moon with “In My Ways” You really get to hear the vocals really shine on this track ( they are simply breathtaking) We also love the simplicity of “In My Ways” you can really hear the absolute musical magic between KTJ & CARLY on this track . The lyrics explore the internal battle of holding your tongue when you know it’s going to hurt more than help, flipping the script to focus on something as mundane as the weather, and staying out of trouble.

On the final track “Nosedive “ KTJ & Carly deliver an absolutely electrifying track. On “Nosedive “ they take on the dangers of social media and the algorithm we’re all trapped in. You can’t help but be mesmerized by the incredible synth’s combined with soaring vocals and a “stop and take notice “ chorus – they remind us how important it is to escape the dystopian world of comparison and self-doubt. As they sing of flying away, to a place where none of it exists, they encourage us to turn it all off and escape the dangerous impact social media has on our lives.

KTJ&CARLY are incredible artists who have delivered an absolute work of art with their latest “NUKETOWN “ The best part about KTJ&CARLY is that we have a feeling they are just getting warmed up …. We can’t wait to see what they do next .
