We think that we can all agree that at times reality bites . However, the new EP “Reality Bites” from Winnipeg, MB based grunge/pop/garage band Mise En Scene does not bite in fact it is quite delightful.
You can listen to the new EP “Reality Bites” from Mise En Scene on Spotify Here and on Apple Music Here
We first became familiar with Mise En Scene when we checked out their single “Burnout” ( which if your scoring at home absolutely rock) So we were pretty stoked to get an EP from Mise En Scene ( Stefanie Blondal-Johnson, vocalist, guitarist and drummer, Jodi Dunlop) to check out .

The opening track “Reality Bites” which also serves as the title to EP, is the perfect opening track as it is a melodic tune that we can’t seem to get out of our head . You can check out the video for “Reality Bites” below
Reality Bites found Mise en Scene working with producer John Paul Peters (Begonia, Comeback Kid) in their shared home city of Winnipeg, and despite its relatively short runtime compared to their acclaimed catalog of full-length LPs, the collection arguably showcases the widest breadth of Mise en Scene’s musical output to date, blending influences from Blondie to the Black Keys to Best Coast into a sonic concoction all their own.
On “You Feel Good “ we are treated to absolute pop good with addicting melody and an ear catching drum beat from Jodi Dunlop , we found ourselves gleefully tapping along to this one .
We will also have a certain fondness for “Burn Out” as it served as our introduction to Mise En Scene . Per our original review of “Burn Out “ –
Burn Out” from Mise En Scene is the kind of song that reminds us why we love music so much .
The melodic garage/indie/garage sound reminds us Letters To Cleo , Liz Phair and a touch of The Breeders . Mise En Scene does a phenomenal job of having a familiar sound while skillfully and uniquely making it flawlessly their own .” You can check out the video for “Burn Out” below
On “Beautiful People “ Mise En Scene gives a beautifully crafted song that features dreamy melodies that were coupled with perfect vocals

Our favorite track off of the “Reality Bites” EP is “Nicer” We love everything about this song . Perfect melodies, catchy beat coupled with artful lyrics make “Nicer” an absolute can’t miss.
The final track on the EP “Stay “ hit us with all the feels ( what can we say we’re an emotional music lover) . We loved the slower tempo on “Stay” as it shows another side of Mise En Scene.
We are absolutely over the moon for Mise En Scene and their stunning new EP “Reality Bites “ it is a must listen for any music lover .
