The Final Clause Of Tacitus Bring Their Electrifying Brand Of Funk Rock With Their Remarkable New EP “The Oxygen Is Killing You”

We recently had the extremely good fortune to check out the brand new EP “The Oxygen Is Killing You” from the Reading (UK) based funk rock four-piece The Final Clause Of Tacitus .

You can listen to “The Oxygen Is Killing You” on Spotify Here and on Apple Music Here

We listen to a lot of music here at The Whole Kameese (We’re a music blog it’s what we do) However, we can tell you that we haven’t heard anything quite like The Final Clause Of Tacitus. “The Oxygen Is Killing You” may only be 18 minutes and 40 seconds but… there is so much power and energy in those 18 minutes and 40 seconds… It is a thing of beauty.

Right from the opening track , which is the title track “The Oxygen Is Killing You” you can feel the power and expert musicianship of The Final Clause Of Tacitus as they wield their musical goodness for our ears to enjoy. We found ourselves pressing repeat constantly on this EP

The Final Clause of Tacitus have been mixing up their own brand of funk, rock and groove-heavy riffs since their formation in 2016, which has seen the band go on to collaborate and share the stage with the likes of Hactivist, We Are Scientists, (Hed) P.E., Electric Six and Crazy Town.

The second track on “The Oxygen Is Killing You” – “I Know You Are, You Said You Are, But What Am I “ has a real hip hop/ 90’s nu-metal feel . You get a real a chance to really hear the genius of The Final Clause Of Tacitus.

The self-recorded and produced EP is a masterclass in musical shapeshifting. Massively influenced by old school 90’s skate hip hop music, the band mix groove-laden basslines, funky riffs, metal breakdowns and rap vocals with the odd skate-punk shout along thrown in for good measure.

We are a huge fan of the track “Everybody Makes Mistakes, I Create Disasters” , from when we first reviewed the track 2 weeks ago

From our original review “We are not going to beat around the bush on this one…. The Final Clause Of Tacitus absolutely bring it with “Everybody Makes Mistakes,I Create Disasters,” You can check out the video for “Everybody Makes Mistakes,I Create Disasters “ below

Speaking about the track lyricist and vocalist Matt Dunne comments This song is a self-declaration and acceptance that I mess up sometimes and that I’m far from perfect, but this is me and what you see is what you get,” explains lyricist and vocalist Matt Dunne.

The fourth track on the EP “The Sniper” packs quite the punch . Lyrically this song is absolutely on point . We found ourselves coming back to this one quite often.

The final track on the EP not only has an incredible bass but, “One To Blame “ flat out rocks . “One To Blame” combines many different elements and style to make this a real standout.

We are all in on The Final Clause Of Tacitus and their amazing new EP “The Oxygen Is Killing You “ This is one you can’t miss
