Dirt Road Souls Deliver Radiantly Epic New Single, “Hold On Soul”

Dirt Road Souls, have composed a sound and vibe, on their latest single, “Hold On Soul”, that will keep your music loving soul happy for days. You can listen to “Hold On Soul” Here

Boston based trio Dirt Road Souls, has “It” You might not know what it is …. But you know “It”, when you hear it…. And, we hear it loud and clear on “Hold On Soul”

Courtesy Of The Band

Acting as a portal to a larger world, “Hold On Soul” and its blend of yearning Americana, country rock, and Southern gothic bring us into Dirt Road Souls’ unfurling tale of (The Life and Times of) Johnny Moonshine, an ambitious 12-track concept album and roots rock opera set for release in early 2026.

Chronicling the rise, fall, and enduring spirit of a small-town rebel with big dreams and a bigger heart, told through the lens of a close friend and narrator, the record follows the mythic arc of Johnny Moonshine — a backroad dreamer, moonshine runner, romantic, and overall tragic figure. It’s a poetic odyssey of freedom, failure, and redemption, all wrapped around an arsenal of memorable hooks and melodic storytelling.

Few new bands would take on something as enterprising and aspiring as (The Life and Times of) Johnny Moonshine to mark their debut album, but Dirt Road Souls – composed of Boston music scene veterans Davis Black (The Inebriations), Rick Weden (Shotgun Waltz), and Brian Sargent (Black Cat Crossing) – felt the time was right to tell the tale.

“‘Hold On Soul’ was first written many years ago when I had left my small town and gone off to start a life in Boston,” Black admits. “After high school and college years I’d often return to my small town to recharge – and get drunk with my friends who didn’t leave town. These lyrics come from the culture shock between the two places. The stress of the city vs. the simplicity of the small town was very real for a little while.”

Heartfelt, authentic and cinematically perfect… We were blissfully hanging on every word on “Hold On Soul” from Dirt Road Souls … and you will be too

Ben Denny Mo’s Authentic And Melodic Sounds Shines Brightly On New EP, “The Norfkl Tapes”

We recently had the incredible opportunity to check out the new EP, “The Norfkl Tapes “, from British, singer-songwriter , Ben Denny Mo . You can listen to “The Norfkl Tapes” on Spotify Here and on Apple Music Here

Ben’s journey has taken him from the Norfolk countryside to the island of Gozo, where the warmth of the Mediterranean seeps into his music. His sound blends acoustic folk, pop, and soul with a storyteller’s touch — often compared to Jonah Kagen, Dave Matthews Band, and John Martyn.

The Norfkl Tapes is an 8-track collection that captures the highs and lows of relationships, from the thrill of new love to the pain of letting go. The record was shaped by Ben’s experience with dyslexia, which first led him to songwriting as a way to express what words couldn’t.

The eight beautifully crafted songs on “The Norfkl Tapes, shine a deserving light on an artist in Ben Denny Mo, who has a one of a kind sound that simply can’t be ignored.

“The Norfkl Tapes, is the kind of EP, that you can press play and let it run all the way through without skipping a single song.

Thematically, The Norfkl Tapes traces the highs and lows of relationships—love found and lost, the thrill of new romance, and the wreckage of toxic connections. Songs like “In The Breakdown” and “You and I” wrestle with the pain of letting go, while “September”  celebrates fleeting love and tender memories, and “Lay Me Down” talks of falling in love, but having to let them go for the good of both of you. Others, like “Asylum”, widen the lens to the struggles of people Ben has observed around him, while the vibrant “Change My Eyes” and myth-inspired “Medusa” bring playful energy to the collection.

The record is shaped by my dyslexia,” Ben shares. “It was the reason I turned to music in the first place. At school, I wasn’t allowed into certain classes because they didn’t understand dyslexia or think I was smart enough. Picking up a guitar showed me that none of that mattered.” The title, The Norfkl Tapes, reflects this part of his story, offering a subtle nod to the misspellings that once defined his struggle, now reclaimed as a source of strength.

When not writing or performing, Ben works as a chef on Gozo, feeding the soul in more ways than one. His story is one of perseverance and self-belief: of turning obstacles into art, and of finding light, rhythm, and connection in the breakdowns.

You owe it to your music loving heart to get lost in the musical goodness of “The Norfkl Tapes” from Ben Denny Mo

Wayward Vines Have Sculpted A Melodic Work Of Art With Their Debut Album, “The Fall”

We recently had the distinct honor and privilege to check out the debut album , “The Fall”, from Boston-based Americana and indie-folk band, Wayward Vine. You can listen to “The Fall” Here

Right from the first note on the opening track “The Fall “ ( which also happens to be the title track) We felt an instant connection to the authentic and heartfelt

Consisting of eight prior singles dating back to last October, including August’s spellbinding “Dancing On Your Basement Floor,” and paired with three new previously-unreleased compositions, The Fall is a declaration of purpose from the project led by Valerie Rachel (vocals, violin, keyboards, Hammond organ, and tambourine) and Greg Lawrence (vocals, guitar, percussion, harmonica), a pair of songwriting partners whose delicate harmonies and gentle rhythms belie lyrical themes of heartbreak, obsession, and the panoramic range of emotions involved in family relationships.

The Fall is not just the title of the album; it’s a snapshot of life, frozen in time. And it reflects something larger for the duo, who balance day jobs, families, and other commitments alongside being in one of Boston’s most exciting new Americana bands.

When you think about the moment when summer shifts to fall, for example, there is often the feeling of being at the edge of a moment when you don’t know what the next moment holds, and that’s often accompanied by melancholy, or sometimes an exciting anticipation,” says Rachel, a classically trained vocalist, violinist, and pianist. “But we also wanted to more broadly incorporate moments of change and evolution as they relate to the feeling of seasons changing.”

She adds: “In choosing The Fall for the title, more than just featuring one of the names of the tracks and a season of the year in which the album happens to be emerging, we thought this was a representation of everything the word can mean that occurs thematically in our songs. The Fall also references a loss of innocence and a shift in mental state, all in one title.”

Subtle references to seasonal themes permeate through the album, where Wayward Vine’s knack for emotionally-driven storytelling and heartfelt narration of life’s tender and most personal moments are soundtracked by a casual encompassing of sound, balancing solemnity and euphoria, that has earned comparisons to The Head and the Heart, 10,000 Maniacs, and The Civil Wars.

Every song on “The Fall” from Wayward Vine, feels like an emotional springboard that settles perfectly into a cornucopia of emotions, that leave the listener full with musical goodness.

The lyrics and theme of the song encapsulate my family’s experience around 2020 and into 2021, when time seemed to go very slowly yet everyone’s emotional experience seemed heightened,” she says. “I found a lot of solace in nature during that time, especially through hours in my backyard where I saw my kids gain a lot of resilience and even though this wasn’t the world or childhood we envisioned for them. I think the melody and lyrics of the song capture both emotional pain and suggest a hopefulness and support system that we as humans need to get through our toughest moments.”

Recorded and mixed by David Minehan at Woolly Mammoth Sound in Waltham, with additional recording, mixing and mastering by Will Holland at Chillhouse Studios in Charlestown, the rest of the album plays out in the same kind of magnetic way. There’s a push and a pull to the music of Wayward Vine, and a certain intimacy in its lyricisms that most new bands generally shy away from.

The one track that really caught our attention, was the closing track, “Imperfect Begins” We were immediately drawn to the phenomenal show stopping melody of , “Imperfect Begins” We were hanging on ever beautiful note and word.

Music is for the soul…. We guarantee that after listening to “The Fall” from Wayward Vine, your music loving soul will be plenty full.

Our Music Loving Soul Has Been Moved Beyond Measure With The Debut Solo Single, “Kneejerk” From Noah Villeneuve

We need to be clear … listening to the debut solo single , “Kneejerk”, from Canadian-born, Bristol-bred, London-based singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Noah Villeneuve is a musical experience that every music lover needs to experience.

You can listen to “Kneejerk” Here

You can watch the video below

Noah Villeneuve, known for his unique brand of melancholic indie-folk, emotive vocal style and achingly honest lyricism.

Villeneuve’s music is marked by a deep vulnerability in his storytelling, crafting melodic earworms and a compelling soundscape that is captivatingly catchy. His acutely introspective yet universally relatable songs blend elements of folk, alt rock, lo-fi pop and emo-americana textures.

With an extensive touring history and many years of experience performing with bands in the UK’s underground music scenes, Villeneuve emerges from a period of quiet, a pause taken to reclaim and focus his personal life, including getting clean and sober, with his first solo project. His forthcoming 2026 album details that journey and the complex lessons learned through intense reflection and personal inventory.

Villeneuve’s writing delves into themes of romanticism, loss, mental health, yearning, memory and self exploration through the lens of codependent modern love. His upcoming debut single ‘Kneejerk’, has been described as ‘beautifully intimate, heartbreaking, mystical, indie-folk brilliance’, reminiscent and clearly inspired by the likes of Cohen, Kozelek, Smith and Berninger.

Describing the lyrical inspiration behind the song, Villeneuve explains, “Have you ever gone through a heartbreak with someone that you shared an arguably unhealthy codependent relationship with? Kneejerk is about grieving those mistakes of the past with a curiosity in the present and hope towards the future. It’s putting a mirror up against some of your wrong footing and acknowledging your flaws. Experiencing deep wonder of where that person is now, what they are doing, and feeling that ‘kneejerk reaction’ to call them or reach out for your phone expecting to see that message that never actually arrives.”

Anaïs & The Hoops Will Make Your Music Loving Heart Extremely Happy With Glorious New EP, “Growing Pains”

We recently had the delightful experience to check out the new EP, “Growing Pains”, from rising Brooklyn – based artist Anaïs & The Hoops. You can listen to “Growing Pains” Here

We here at The Whole Kameese… love music… We live it, breathe it with every fiber of our being. So when we hear something that moves us, we want to scream it from the rooftops and share it with the universe. This is definitely the case with the stunning new EP, “Growing Pains” from Anaïs & The Hoops.

We were immediately taken by the timeless and fresh vibe of Anaïs & The Hoops.

Anaïs & The Hoops is the project of Brooklyn-based, San Diego-raised singer and songwriter Anaïs Lund. She got her start performing in jazz clubs and restaurants before finding her own musical footing in 2019, when she began writing the songs that would shape her project, Anaïs & The Hoops. With her jazz-inflected vocals, sharp yet vulnerable lyrics, catchy pop melodies, and a captivating retro aesthetic,

On Growing Pains, Anaïs channels her signature fusion of indie-pop, jazz, and folk into a collection that’s nostalgic, playful, and brimming with authenticity.

The six-track EP has been three years in the making for Anaïs. Along the way, she brought in producer Ben Coleman, as well as her bandmates and fellow New York musicians, to give each tack its own collaborative imprint. That spirit of collaboration extended beyond the band, with her mother helping refine the lyrics of her first French-language song, “Passe le temps,” and a poem by her friend Alex Brady becoming part of “Cool.” It’s been fun to cobble together,” she shares. “Basically, every song was touched by someone in or around the live band.”

Across Growing Pains, Anaïs explores themes of identity, nostalgia, and self-discovery. The songs capture the tension of growing up while still wanting to hold on to the kid you once were. “These songs were some of the first I wrote that truly felt like me,” Anaïs says. “Most of these songs came together after I moved from California to New York, at a time when I was figuring out who I wanted to be. That chapter of my life gave me the chance to embrace the traits and experiences that now define me as both an artist and a person.”

Every song on , “Growing Pains”, from Anaïs & The Hoops is a heartfelt gem that we absolutely cannot get enough of . However, the on song on the EP, that we absolutely are completely head over heels for is … “Stick to the Script”, we honestly can’t say enough about this flawless and melodic work of art … We are completely and utterly smitten.

You owe it to your music loving heart to check out the brilliant new EP, “Growing Pains” from Anaïs & The Hoops.

“Dancing On Your Basement Floor”, is the latest hypnotic effort from the Boston indie-folk and Americana band, composed of core songwriters Valerie Rachel (harmony vocals and keys) and Greg Lawrence (vocals and acoustic guitar) and a backing band that on this track features Jim St. Pierre on percussion; Boston scene veteran Yoni Gordon on electric guitar; and Jose Downes on bass.

Some songs have a curious way of hanging around long after the music has faded , “Dancing On Your Basement Floor”, is definitely one of those songs .

“‘Dancing On Your Basement Floor’ is the encapsulation of a moment in time that is really beautiful but also short-lived,” says Rachel, a classically trained vocalist, violinist, and pianist. “The story of the song reflects the longing and excitement associated with a newer relationship that isn’t always replicable but usually leaves a mark.”

Lawrence agrees, adding: “It’s about an intense relationship captured at a moment in time where the relationship has come to a crossroads – do we continue and take it to the next level or do we walk away? Like most romantic relationships, there’s a simple and beautiful innocence to it in the beginning before things escalate and become more complicated. At its core, ‘Dancing’ is a pure love song, with notes of desperation, internal conflict, and sexual intensity mixed in for good measure.”

Produced by David Minehan, recorded at Woolly Mammoth Sound in Waltham, and mixed and mastered by Will Holland at Chillhouse Studios in Charlestown, “Dancing On Your Basement Floor” also serves as a compass to Wayward Vine’s debut album, connecting recent releases with new compositions. The long-player will wrangle up the band’s seven prior singles dating back to only last December, including a trio that have emerged so far this year in January’s “History,” March’sImplode,” and May’s “End of May.” Four new tracks round out the album, where snapshots of modern life are filtered through Rachel and Lawrence’s acute songwriting lens.

Commenting on the song, Wright shares:

When I wrote Felt, I was fairly fresh out of a breakup and was spending a lot of time looking for distractions. Instead of tackling
some bigger questions and engaging in a healthy recovery, I was tucking away my feelings into compartments and distracting
myself with casual dating. I was spending some late nights slipping into the backstories of strangers’ lives – exhilarating, but
merely theatrical. It never eased the issue at hand. I was alone, and I was terrified to sit with that.“

Billy Dodge Moody Has Crafted An Instant Classic With New EP, “Ephemera: Part 1”

We recently had the distinct honor to check out the new EP, “Ephemera:Part 1”, from Boston, singer-songwriter, Billy Dodge Moody. You can listen to “Ephemera:Part 1” on Bandcamp Here , Spotify Here, Apple Music Here

Billy Dodge Moody, proves on “Ephemera:Part 1” that he is without question, a true voice of musical importance.

Courtesy Of The Artist

The four-track effort is the first in a series of EPs that will compose his next album, thematically centering around navigating chaos and finding clarity in life. A few months later, Moody takes the record and his magnetic sound to the stage, performing live at The Extended Play Sessions Live From The Fallout Shelter in Norwood on November 15.

Everything on this EP felt like it came from a natural, honest, genuine place in the writing process,” Moody says. “They’re songs I wanted to write, versus what I thought people would like. The themes in the lyrics are pretty universal, so I hope listeners find at least something to connect with.”

Ephemera is Moody’s first extended release since 2022 album Condition, and is led by a pair of singles in May’s cinematic “Meaning to Disaster” and June’s buoyant and summer flavored “Nobody.” Both tracks helped earn the EP a place on WBUR’s Summer Music Preview, billing Ephemera as one of the most-anticipated New England releases this season and noting Moody’s “unbelievable knack for writing folk-pop mini-masterpieces… everything from dramatic chamber folk to appealing sunshine pop…”

The reflective and authentic feel of Ephemera opener, “ Meaning to Disaster” is Billy Dodge Moody at his absolute best , melodically perfect with a vocal performance that you can feel deep in your soul.

“Nobody” has a upbeat/ summer chill feel with indie pop elements , but also explores darker themes, its lyrics warn the listener about how we’re all dealing with internal struggles, and no one really understands what we’re all privately facing each day.

The two new tracks that round out the EP, are beautifully crafted songs that both eloquently show the breathtaking artistry of Billy Dodge Moody.

“Made to Decide,” with backing vocals from Hannah Foxman adding to the aching harmony, centers around making difficult choices, inspired by an ailing pet – his cat Bruce – who became gravely ill, and passed away a day before his euthanasia appointment after Moody and his wife spent weeks painstakingly mulling the decision.

“The title is a bit of a double entendre in that ‘made’ refers to both being, and feeling, forced to choose between two shitty options, and that life in general is decision-making and how the oftentimes difficult choices we make shape who we are and who we’ll become,” Moody admits. “Part of the song is also about that where there are people, pets, and things that come into our lives that we never intended to fall for or develop such a deep connection to. The song was also used as a vessel to talk about other divisive aspects of life that others value and oppose like faith, ideology and overall perspective of mortality.”

The Ep closes with stunningly melodically perfect “Suddenly” , filled beautifully with heartfelt emotion, “Suddenly” left us absolutely speechless , as Moody, reflects on his position as a musician, and explores the highs and lows – and more lows – of being an independent creative at a time when art is seemingly not valued by those who consume it.

It’s mostly about the struggle and perseverance of an artist,” he adds, “maintaining hope and realizing things change when you least expect it, especially when you feel like you’ve been spinning your wheels on something that never comes to any sort of resolution or catharsis.”

Ephemera was produced by Brian Charles, who engineered the EP over several sessions alongside co-producer and engineer Annie Hoffman. Recording the EP began at Guilford Sound up in Vermont, and then completed closer to home at Charles’ freshly-minted Rare Signals studio in Cambridge, Massachusetts

For these songs, the vocalist, guitarist, and keyboardist Moody was joined in-studio by Sam Bouve on bass; Parker Goessling on guitar; Tyler Simko on keyboards; Jon Chapman on drums; and the aforementioned Foxman on backup vocals. And Charles led the way.

“Ephemera: Part 1”, from Billy Dodge Moody is the kind of record that feels timeless the first time you listen to it.

Billy Dodge Moody , Proves He Is Somebody You Need To Know With Latest Single, “Nobody “

We first fell in love with musical goodness of Boston, based singer-songwriter, Billy Dodge Moody, back in May, with his single, ‘Meaning To Disaster’. We are happy to report with his new single, “Nobody” our love for his honest and authentic sound continues to grow.

You can listen to “Nobody” on Spotify Here, Apple Music Here

“Nobody” and “Meaning To Disaster “, will be featured on on Moody’s forthcoming July 11 EP Ephemera, the first in a series of EPs about navigating life’s chaos and finding clarity.

“Nobody”, simply feels like the perfect summer tune . We were immediately drawn to the almost “island” like feel of the song and it is effortlessly flowing in our music loving soul. Billy Dodge Moody, once again proves he is a master singer-songwriter/ storyteller and it is on full display on “Nobody

Sonically, I think it’s good timing with it coming out right before summer since it has an overall summer road trip vibe to it,” Moody says. “It also reflects the tonal ambiguity of the EP being both musically upbeat with a slightly dark, existential message – a theme that echoes throughout the record.”

Billy Dodge Moody continues : “Nobody’ explores the theme of emotional masking and the unseen struggles people carry. More specifically, it’s about watching someone close to you change – someone who once seemed confident and on top of the world suddenly revealing signs of inner turmoil. The song reflects on the difficulty of truly understanding what others are going through beneath the surface and how much can remain hidden, even from those who care most.”

Nobody,” interestingly enough, first came together while Moody was working on a Nirvana cover, and the guitarlines that permeate the track’s introduction call back to the Seattle icons’ Nevermind era. Utilizing a sort-of punk rock palm muting strumming pattern ultimately led to the chord progression heard in the song.

The style was a bit foreign to me, which actually made the writing process a lot more exciting,” Moody admits. “Usually when I have the instrumental foundation ironed out, I’m just trying to find a melody and I do it by mumbling gibberish over the chords. This particular progression and rhythm lent itself to more of a conversational tone so I just started writing a story of someone recognizing a significant change in someone’s personality since the last time they saw them.”

From there, Moody took the music and lyrics to trusted producer Brian Charles, who engineered the track over a few sessions alongside co-producer and engineer Annie Hoffman. Similar to the process for “Meaning To Disaster,” recording got started at Guilford Sound up in Vermont, and then finished closer to home at Charles’ freshly-minted Rare Signals studio in Cambridge, Massachusetts

With Moody performing vocals, guitar, and keys, he’s joined on “Nobody” by Sam Bouve on bass; Parker Goessling on guitar; Tyler Simko on keyboards; Jon Chapman on drums; and Hannah Foxman on backup vocals

Billy Dodge Moody, has a voice and song with “Nobody” that you need to experience…. You just don’t know it yet.

The inspiration for “Lasting Effects” came in the wake of a breakup, when Avery was told no one else would love her the way he had. “At the time, I knew he was wrong,” she shares. “But as I got further from the situation, I realized he was right—but not in the way he thought. I realized I don’t ever want someone like him, and I don’t want to be loved like that.” Instead of falling apart, the experience became a turning point, helping Avery rediscover parts of herself that had been quieted during the relationship. “I think it’s a really positive and hopeful song,” she adds. “I hope it inspires people and leaves a positive lasting effect.”

Known for her emotionally raw lyricism and understated production, Avery once again invites listeners into her inner world with a song that feels both deeply personal and widely relatable. Built around soft keys, ambient textures, and hushed percussion, “Lasting Effects” is a beautifully restrained track that lets its emotional weight breathe through gentle melodies and heartfelt words. Co-produced by Jordan lilvee, Michael Blum, and Avery herself, the song marks an exciting step in her evolution as a producer and storyteller.

Often described as a “happy girl filled with sad songs,” her music is a masterclass in storytelling, inspired by her life experiences, the world around her, and the media she consumes. With praise from tastemakers like Ones To Watch and EARMILK, and a rapidly growing fanbase that’s helped her surpass 400 million streams, Avery continues to showcase her gift for turning raw emotion into intimate, relatable, and quietly captivating songs.

“Lasting Effects”, from Avery Lynch, Will stay with you long after the music has faded.

The new single, a celestial slice of star-gazing alt-rock and psych-pop called “Choices”, hits the streams today, (Friday, May 30) While this new track is the start of a new era for Chesbro, with new singles to follow and a new album arriving later this year, it’s firmly rooted in the path that led him to this moment.

“‘Choices’ is about looking back at what you’ve done, good or bad, and realizing what kind of person it made you,” Chesbro says. “It’s about realizing you’ve grown from those choices and are now a different person altogether. It’s a very self-reflective song, but its theme is universal and I think a lot of people will resonate with it.”

“Choices” has a little bit of a Beatles vibe , mixed in with a pinch of Elliott Smith. However, it is the one of a kind style and sound of Jon Chesbro, that makes “Choices” an absolutely beautiful musical composition.

A slow burn over three short minutes, “Choices” unfurls with reserved confidence and an innocent grandeur, hitting cruising altitude about three-quarters in, where it glides freely through space-rock and even some loose prog territories. It’s the sound of looking up at the night sky and seeing your life played back at you in the stars.

I feel like ‘Choices’ has a perfect combination of etherealness and experimental acoustic rock that the album is going to have,” he admits. “I thought even though this isn’t the most single-friendly, it does capture the entirety of the project very well. Also I’m just impressed with myself when it comes to the songwriting with this song, as well as the production. It took a long time and I wanted to show what I was most proud of first.”

Joining Chesbro on “Choices” and supplementing his vocals and guitar work are Robert Countie on bass; Akiba Davis on keyboards and organ; and Don Schweihofer on drums. The track was mixed and mastered by Erik von Geldern and recorded by Todd Harris, with production, recording, mixing, and mastering at Berlin Sound Studios in Berlin, Massachusetts.

On “Choices”, Jon Chesbro, feels like an artist who is getting ready to soar . We can’t wait to see what happens next.

“Boyfriends” might have just become our new favorite song . We are absolutely obsessed with the melody and flawless vocals on the track . Career Woman (Melody Caudill) and Pacing (Katie McTigue) have created indie music perfection.

Boyfriends” is an ode to the changing nature of friendship in the face of new relationships. Co-written by Caudill and Pacing’s Katie McTigue, the two trade verses, ending in unison with a pop-rock refrain of “me and my friends, we don’t like men / but we got boyfriends.”

What originally started as a duet was then filled in by Career Woman’s full band, reaching the track’s final form. “Everyone in the band loved the song so much that we started playing with the full rock band arrangement at our live shows,” explains Caudill. “It became an instant hit in our local scene, so we knew we had to bottle up that version and release it. This version of the song is so much fun, and I am so glad that Katie was able to sing on it as well, since the song is essentially our musical child.”

Temporary Circus:Act 1 From Derek Smith and tphe Cosmic Vultures Is Positively Magnificent.

Design By Derek Smith

We recently had the spectacular opportunity, to check out the new EP, “Temporary Circus: Act 1”, from Boston, singer-songwriter Derek Smith and the Cosmic Vultures.

You can listen to, “Temporary Circus:Act 1” on Spotify Here, Apple Music Here And on Bandcamp Here

The latest EP, from Derek Smith and the Vultures, “Temporary Circus: Act 1 , is a joyous musical treasure trove of brilliantly crafted musical compositions.

Derek Smith and the Cosmic Vultures’ new EP, Temporary Circus: Act 1, is a five-track collection from the prolific Boston singer-songwriter that hits the streams today, ( Friday, May 16. ) This new record arrives about a half-year from the band’s recent album Opus, and marks the start of a new creative chapter with additional acts to quickly follow.

Sonically, this is an acoustic album to me,” Smith says. “I didn’t use a full drum kit here. It feels different than Opus and that was my intention. I have people asking me why I didn’t make a direct sequel to Opus and it’s because I already did it. It’s time for a new sound.”

Where Opus was a majestic declaration of excess and grandeur, coming off more like a greatest hits compilation in its sweeping production and ambitious drive, Temporary Circus: Act 1 is something far more personal, more raw, and more organic. Intact is Smith’s penchant for melody, and the alarming ease with which he steers his sound through familiar corridors of alternative, pop-rock, indie-folk, psych, Yacht Rock, AM ‘70s gold, funk, and whatever else escapes from his creative mental asylum. The many different stylistic offerings make the EP, a melodic delight. Smith’s sound has always been jovial on the surface, with something a little darker glowing underneath.

Throughout Temporary Circus: Act 1, there is a growing unease and overwhelming sense of malaise that permeates through the five songs, and drawn together serve as a bit of a warning about what the future may hold, with carnival-like interludes and faux news reports acting as segues, similar to how we doom scroll from one app to the next to feed our serotonin needs: “Question everything. Do your research. Whatever hardship you’re going through… it’ll pass. And to hell with toxic people.”

Derek Smith and the Cosmic Vultures have crafted an EP, that flows freely in many melodic directions, while also artfully articulating the state of world . Because, it’s also a proper Derek Smith and the Cosmic Vultures album, so beneath the layers of social awareness, messages both subliminal and obvious, and lyrical wordplay wisdom, is another sparkling and celestial record that glows with Smith’s vivid storytelling acumen. He’s now officially released 73 songs since 2017, both with the Cosmic Vultures and as a solo artist, and the creative tank shows no signs of emptying.

The EP opener and title track immediately set the lyrical theme, a daydream-like composition with a propulsive thump and twinkling demeanor where a certain type of circus comes to town to whisk us away in our own cerebral slumbers. The yearning, campfire glide “Strange Life” explores feelings of self-discovery and our shared end-goal of being comfortable with who we are, despite greater forces influencing us otherwise.

Smith leans into political lanes on the poignant and straight-forward “The Puppets of Hypocrisy,” fueled by a sonic buoyancy and pub sing-along mood while hidden meanings lurk behind the lyrical phrases. The atmospheric and star-gazing “Some Girls” (Our favorite track on the EP) finds a central comfort in the strength and poise of women, with Smith casting admiration for what they provide the world and how much they deal with and are forced to endure.

And EP closer “Indie Darling” was inspired by a dream Smith had walking through Salem, Massachusetts, waking up feeling so connected to the city and feeling free from the circus that had previously dogged his mental state.

My music is a universe that I created,” Smith concludes. “If someone connects to my music, that is wonderful. But they need to use the info wisely. Use the info to help you put together whatever your opinion is. Bottom line: A famous musical artist (or hell, a local one) spreading their message is fine. But it’s NOT the end all be all. Form your own opinions. I think it’s important that everyone has a platform to express their opinion on the world… but people get obsessed with artists and then they become idols. Just be careful with that stuff. It could be your next Temporary Circus.”

We were absolutely captivated by “Temporary Circus: Act 1 “ from Derek Smith and the Cosmic Vultures, it is a must listen.

We had the wonderful opportunity to check out the new self-titled EP, from Midwest based, indie folk duo, aibai&vinny. You can listen to the self-titled EP, Here

Listening to the new self-titled EP, from aibai&vinny is mesmerizing experience that we throughly enjoyed from beginning to end.

The new self-titled EP is a dreamlike fusion of indie folk and ethereal soundscapes. Inspired by themes of nostalgia, introspection, love and personal growth their songs blend celestial soundscapes with raw, heartfelt storytelling, drawing from personal experiences and emotions. Sonically, their sound is influenced by a mix of indie folk artists, and indie electronic artists, blending organic folk elements with lush, atmospheric production. The duo shares, “Our debut EP really captures the sound and style we’ve been working toward. Each song fits together sonically, creating a cohesive sound, yet they all have their own unique vibe. The songs tell genuine stories about love and relationships, and we hope they resonate with people in a way that feels personal and timeless.”

Every song on the EP, felt like it’s own separate experience. The melodies were otherworldly and stayed with us after the music had ended .

The opening track, “Open Space”, feels like an invitation to a whole new universe. We absolutely fell instantly for the intoxicating melodies on “Open Space”

Both, “Still Broke” and “Running Around “ are beautifully written songs that showcase the expert level musicianship, of aibai & vinny.

Our favorite song on the EP, is the closing track, “Story’s good-alt version “ We loved the easy flow of the song . We also heard a lil Neil Young vibe on the track which we really enjoyed.

We Are Completely Hooked On The Debut Album, “New Thing” From Avery Friedman

We were absolutely elated beyond belief, to finally get to check out the stunning debut album , “New Thing”, via Audio Antihero from Brooklyn, based singer-songwriter, Avery Friedman . ( Spoiler Alert…. it is a musical triumph beyond words.)

You can listen to “New Thing” Here

We have been feeling the build up to the highly anticipated release of “New Thing”, every time we got a new single from Avery Friedman,( “Flowers Fell”, “Photo Booth” and “New Thing “( The title track is so divine) we got a little more excited for the debut LP.

Produced by James Chrisman (SISTER. / CIAO MALZ) and featuring Felix Walworth(FLORIST / TOLD SLANT), New Thing’ is a sonically deep and layered album that sees Friedman explore her trauma, resiliency, and sexuality with a raw open-heartedness inspired by by artists like Adrianne LenkerSquirrel Flower, and Babehoven

Right from the introduction track, we were completely smitten.

Every song on “New Thing“, from Avery Friedman, is a well crafted melodic experience that highlights the musical brilliance of a musician (Avery Friedman) who is a rising voice that needs to be heard .

Avery, shares: New Thing is a conduit for emotions too frenetic to hold on your own. This record is a collection of the first songs I’ve ever written, after many years of orbiting the music world, but denying myself my own musicianship. Many of these tracks were born of anxiety – from my turning to a guitar to externalize (and organize) a sense of chaos that otherwise felt trapped inside me. We recorded a bulk of it with a live band, as a means to maintain the raw energy at the center of the record. What results is a time capsule for a year of intense personal expansion in my life – and the layers of warmth, wonder, sensitivity and sharpness that come with growing.”

Stunning Melodies with thought provoking lyrics were found in every song on “New Thing”

We found ourselves captivated with “Biking Standing” , the song has a beautifully unique sound that we found to be timeless and heartfelt.

In our opinion the shining star of the LP, is “Nervous” Avery artfully molds both ambient sounds and melodies combined with thoughtful lyrics, to create an absolute work of art.

Izzy Mahoubi Has Crafted Melodic Perfection With latest Single, “Wanted”

We recently had the distinct honor to check out the new single, “Wanted”, from Phoenix, Arizona, indie Folk/Americana singer-songwriter, Izzy Mahoubi. You can listen to “Wanted” Here

Blending influences from The Beatles and Fiona Apple, Izzy creates her own soulful folk sound with elements of classic rock. She writes her lyrics like she’s talking to a friend- disclosing deepest insecurities and unafraid to share blunt, sometimes comedic, details.

At just 20, Izzy has spent the last few years opening for artists around America such as Adam Melchor, Em Beihold, LAUNDRY DAY, Mt Joy, and more. “Wanted” by Izzy Mahoubi is an indie folk song about unrequited love for the worst person you’ve ever met! Drawing inspiration from Joni Mitchell and Mt. Joy, “Wanted” is a backyard picking, summer song, for the girls. Izzy writes about a man child who, “likes his women the way he likes his light beer-low commitment” with the self awareness that, “there’s something about not being wanted by someone”. Written and recorded in Nashville, Tennessee, the Lumineers-esk song features gang vocals from her best friends creating an anthem for friends to sing with/at each other.

When writing songs, it is paramount to tell the truth . The truth is real , relatable and honest. Izzy Mahoubi, brings all of this front and center on “Wanted” and it is a thing of beauty.

Izzy Mahoubi, has so many layers and dimensions to her music that make her a one of a kind artist with a voice that needs to be heard.

“Wanted is one song you need to listen to immediately.

Kier Byrnes & The Kettle Burners Have Uncorked A Magnificent Collection Of Music , With New Ep “Before The Fall”

If the new EP, “Before The Fall” from-based accordion-driven country-rock sextet Kier Byrnes & The Kettle Burners , was whiskey it would be from the best barrel in the land – guaranteed. You can listen to the splendid new EP, “Before The Fall” below

the high-octane sextet, led by longtime Boston music scene veteran Kier Byrnes and the recipient of Americana Act of the Year at the 2024 New England Music Awards, unleashes the stunning new EP , Before The Fall , today, (Friday, April 4.) The spirited and feisty six-track EP, which blends a spectrum of subgenres that bridge alt-folk, gypsy punk, Celtic, old-school country, and whatever else, gets the proper release party treatment a week later at The Plough & Stars in Cambridge come April 11

My hope is to create a unique blend of music from genres I closely identify with; country, rock, Celtic and Bavarian folk music and turn it into something new that defies any genre,” says Byrnes. “You know the joke about what happens if you play a country song backwards – you get your car back, you get your woman back, and you get your dog back. My aim is to take a country song and turn it completely inside out.”

The Before The Fall EP, fueled by potent lead single and opening track “White Russian,” continues a dynamic 2025 for the band, with no immediate signs of a slow down. In the Kettle Burners, co-vocalist and acoustic guitarist Byrnes is rounded out by lead guitarist and co-vocalist Dan DiBacco; accordion player Jason McGorty; washboard player Monica Sager; bassist Joe Miller; and drummer Brian Lilienthal. And the band just banged out seven live shows over a five-day stretch leading up to St. Patrick’s Day, celebrating their also-new In The Key of Guinness EP of Irish music with high-profile gigs at Harpoon Brewery, The Burren, and a massive 10-hour all-day holiday set at The Stockyard in Brighton.

Every song on , “Before The Fall” , felt more like a monumental musical event rather just an average song , we were literally hanging on every word and melody.

Remarkably, for a band with the Kettle Burners’ hustle and all-overdrive ambition, the tracks that make up Before The Fall were all written and recorded last summer, just ahead of the band’s appearance at Outlaw Music Fest in New Hampshire alongside Willie Nelson & Family, John Mellencamp, Charley Crockett, and others. A few weeks before the gig arrived, Byrnes suffered a tumble down a set of stairs, leaving him with severe injury to his legs and requiring surgery. Finishing the songs was placed on the back-burner, allowing Byrnes time to heal and giving the record its title, as the songs were all written Before The Fall.

With its title already ominous, the lyrical material reveals a slightly darker undercurrent than what the upbeat and zestful music would imply.

Some of my favorite country and folk songs are the ones where the music seems really nice and happy-go-lucky, but if you listen to the lyrics, it’s really gory and/or tragic,” admits Byrnes. “It’s fun to sing about darker stuff in an upbeat, energetic way.”

We blissfully sang and danced our way through “Before The Fall” from Kier Byrnes & The Kettle Burners and truth be told we enjoyed every single minute of it. . “When The Money’s All Gone” , “Train’s Off The Rails and “Hurting or Helping “ are absolute gems that we are absolutely over the moon about . Flawless sing along vocals woven between memorable melodies make “Before The Fall” a collection of music to cherish forever. Our favorite track on “Before The Fall” , is without a doubt “Quarter-Life Crisis “ Everything about this song is “stop you in your tracks “ good.

Do yourself a solid and check out “Before The Fall” you certainly will not regret it.

Levi Robin’s journey of exploration and curiosity has taken him down many roads. The soul-baring folk artist’s distinctive musical style combines deeply personal and transformative lyrics with emotive stirring vocals, creating a sound that is filled with meaning and connection.

Levi Robin, brings so much more than just simple melody. He brings a deep rooted powerful message that is brilliantly beautiful. This is front and center on his absolutely breathtaking new single, “Healing Is Coming”

The song is a song of surrender and courage, to face all obstacles, to face the ineffable truth of life, to face the darkness, to bring forth the light of our unique souls and look the serpent in the eyes,” shares Levi. “Healing Is Coming” features Levi’s unmistakable vocal hues over colliding guitars. Soul-baring delicate harmonies add to the song, creating a folk pop track that is equal parts beautiful and bittersweet.

Growing up in Orange County, California, as a teenager Levi became deeply dissatisfied with what he and many describe as “the conveyor belt trajectory of the school system.” With nothing but a shirt on his back and guitar in hand, he took a chance on a different path – a musical one. Levi confides, “From being a runaway to encountering eastern spirituality, from psychedelia to unearthing my own ancient Judaic roots, songwriting has been a uniquely integrating constant.”  Songwriting became a powerful way to translate his deepest feelings into melody and verse. Taking inspiration from an eclectic array of artists including Bach, Stravinski, Mingus, Hendrix, Dylan, Beck, Gaye, D’Angelo and Radiohead, and more, Levi Robin creates his own mindful and genre-defying musical releases.

Levi Robin is a musical voice that needs to be heard . Do your music loving heart a favor and check out , “Healing Is Coming “ from Levi Robin.

The one word that keeps coming to mind when we listen to Adam Sherman’s new EP, “Nowhere But Here” is ….. “Timeless”

The beautifully crafted and orchestrated tracks are so wonderfully put together that they could thrive in any musical period.

Sherman understands that the destination suggested in the EP title is wherever we may be – or need to be – in order to truly live in the moment, be present, and develop the human connection that dissipates more with each day.

These songs are all about finding the strength to persevere and move towards love and kindness, even when there is loss,” Sherman says. “I would love listeners to feel that joy and sadness will always be present in our lives and that we can learn to embrace both and persevere.

Nowhere But Here, produced by Ken Field and recorded with Robin Lane providing harmony vocals, Sherman’s creative vision crystallizes. Led by last fall’s lived-in and lovelorn “Pure As Yours” and sweeping February single “Gratitude,” the EP is completed by a pair of new tracks in “How Hard I Tried,” which got the music video treatment , just ahead of the EP release;( you can watch the video which was directed and edited by Carissa Johnson below and “Torn And Tattered.” The result is a songwriter fully comfortable in his own skin, and the follow-up to 2021 album Triangle Sky finds him exploring some new sonic territory that feels like a natural progression of his songwriting.

Every song on, “Nowhere But Here “ feels cinematic by nature in that they all draw you in instantly and have you on the edge of your seat. We felt a treasure trove of emotions with each song, which made for a one-of-a-kind music experience.

In addition to the production from Field, Nowhere But Here was recorded and mixed by Jon Evans at Brick Hill Studio in Orleans, MA; and mastered by Mark Alan Miller. It represents a bit of a new chapter for Sherman, who self-releases the EP under his own Haddon Road Music. It’s indebted to his past work, but also clears a new path forward as his artist studio in Cambridge provides the backdrop for his various creative passions, from writing and playing music to painting to graphic design to running a successful voice lessons business for the past 12 years.

Across its four tracks, Sherman provides vocals and acoustic guitar and Lane gives an inspired harmony vocal performance. To execute the full vision Sherman has for the EP, he also enlisted Field (string arrangement); Jon Evans (bass, lap steel, percussion), Mark Usher (guitar); Matthew Hutchinson (piano, organ); Matthias Bossi (drums); Dorothea Samaha (violin); and Eve Samaha (cello) to create the ethereal and expansive sound that emerges poignantly from the speakers.

Nowhere But Here” by Adam Sherman, is an absolute “must-listen”

Sam Robbins Proves He Is Indeed “The Real Thing”

We recently had the delightful opportunity to check out the new single, “The Real Thing” from New England folk singer songwriter Sam Robbins. You can listen to “The Real Thing” Here

We are immediately greeted by Sam Robbin’s authentic and genuine voice which is beautifully woven in a delightful melody. “The Real Thing” is a well-crafted gem that has Sam Robbins at his absolute best.

The third single from So Much I Still Don’t See, the Chet Atkins-inspired, upbeat “The Real Thing”, is the second track on the album and an example of the varied energy across the collection of ten songs. “The Real Thing” began with a lyrical groove – driving out of a certain American city on tour, thousands of miles from home, with a 12 hour drive ahead, the spark of inspiration hit. The groove of the first line, “I’m sailing smooth highway under soft suburb lights/ where an Applebee’s oversees every corner” led to the rest of “The Real Thing” being written all in one night at a hotel in the middle of nowhere, USA. The song is a lighter take on the existential questions present throughout the album. Diving into questions of environmentalism, man’s place in the world, and the writer’s place in the world, “The Real Thing” is the upbeat kickoff to the soft, cutting, inquisitive “So Much I Still Don’t See”.

Sonically, “The Real Thing” is a tribute to one of Robbins’s main influences on guitar, the great fingerstyle player Chet Atkins. With Chet’s signature thumping thumb technique, Robbins built a sonic palette that utilized this classic sound but twisted it with his own modern take. The thumping, western-style groove emulates the vibe of the lyrics – the quintessentially American feeling of driving fast down a dusty highway, to get to anywhere but where you are.

Great music, should be heard and celebrated, this is most definitely the case with , “The Real Thing “from Sam Robbins

The song is a twang-filled anthem about embracing imperfections and letting self doubt roll off your shoulders. It is an ode to her grandma who sipped beer out of a Victorian teacup with a saucer and didn’t give a damn about what people thought about her.

The single is off of her highly anticipated forthcoming album Saltwater Country, an ode to her hometown of Cape Cod and her cranberry growing family. The music is a charismatic blend of folk, country and pop and is produced by Jon Evans (Tori Amos, Sarah McLachlan).

Born and raised on the shores of Cape Cod, Grace Morrison has trademarked a sound she calls Saltwater Country. “I was always too pop for folk and too folk for country. Eventually, I started peeling back the layers of my music to find out what truly made it mine. At the heart of it all was my deep, undeniable connection to the Cape Cod coastline—it’s in my blood, in my voice, in every lyric I write. My music carries the storytelling of country, the twang, but also the raw, unshakable spirit of a Swamp Yankee. That’s Saltwater Country.”

“Beer In A Teacup”, from Grace Morrison showcases a relatable and descriptive songwriting/ storytelling style that really connects the listener with the song .

Levi Robin Delivers A Moving And Soulful New Single “Whole As A Broken Heart”

We recently had the opportunity to check out the new single, “Whole As A Broken Heart” from singer-songwriter Levi Robin. You can listen to “Whole As A Broken Heart on Spotify Here and on Apple Music Here

“Whole As A Broken Heart“, from Levi Robin is a beautifully crafted song that gently lingers in your soul long after the music has ended.

The song features hauntingly stunning vocals illuminated by rich, poignant harmonies and slow-burning instrumentation for a cathartic and compelling listen. Inspired by the wisdom of spiritual master Menachem Mendel of Kotzk and Zohar’s, Levi confides, “‘There’s nothing so whole as a broken heart’ and ‘there is no light like that which comes from great darkness’. In my life, I’ve seen that when I allow myself to take on the bitter and broken, letting the walls of my heart break in humble surrender, then the bitter turns to sweet, and the brokenness turns into fertile soil, in which  ‘those who sow in tears will reap in joy’. Consider this an invitation, to come as you are, whole as a broken hear

Taking inspiration from an eclectic array of artists including Bach, Stravinski, Mingus, Hendrix, Dylan, Beck, Gaye, D’Angelo and Radiohead, and more, Levi Robin creates his own mindful and genre-defying musical releases

Listening to Levi Robin, is a special and uplifting experience, that needs to experienced by music lovers everywhere.

The Butterfly Grave Release Gorgeous New Single “ Setting Sun”

We recently had the amazing opportunity to check out the new single “Setting Sun”, from Irish indie artist, The Butterfly Graveyard.

You can listen to “Setting Sun” on Spotify Here , Apple Music Here.

There is something absolutely breathtaking beautiful about the new single “Setting Sun”, from The Butterfly Graveyard.

Delicate and delicious, Irish alt-rock artist The Butterfly Graveyard is located somewhere between The Blue Nile, Jeff Buckley and the deep blue sea. He makes a fragile music, soft as a butterfly’s wing but sometimes rough and uneven like the underbelly of a leaf, translucent when held up under the light.

The vocals from The Butterfly Graveyard, on “Setting Sun” are magnificently brilliant, we were literally in awe.

Setting Sun is a song about  making the most of the time we are given. It is a song of two halves. The first half is written from an individual point of view where the character is looking forward, trying to get stuff done and at the same time looking back with a sense of loss. The second half is more Universal in the sense it could almost be written by a Major Tom like character, who is looking down from space in complete dismay at the earth’s resources being plundered and pillaged.  This character is seeing raging forest fires,  the earth drowning in flash floods and polar bears being stranded on melting ice caps. So in a way the song is a rallying call to protect the earth in this so called ‘Golden Age ‘ of drilling.  It’s about ‘we’ as a collective, trying to get things done before the human race runs out of road and the sun sets on the earth for the very last time.”

You need to immediately stop what you are doing and get yourself lost in the incredible beauty of “Setting Sun”, from The Butterfly Graveyard.

“The Critic In Me”, from Preston Lydotes, is a song that has a indie folk soul and rock and roll heart . We were hanging on every word and every note.

A sophomore EP, is on the horizon and we absolutely can’t wait to see what Preston, does next .

The mark of a great songwriter is someone who is able to connect with their audience and say what everyone else is thinking but unable to put it into words….. Preston Lydotes, most definitely achieves this with , “The Critic In Me”

From the open note on “Mattering Ram “ , it is crystal clear that Penny&Sparrow ( Andy Baxter & Kyle Jahnke ) have put their whole souls in to their new album “ Lefty”

“Lefty” explores many sounds and feelings making it a cornucopia of musical expression, this can be heard fully on “Even-Keeled “

Aiming to strip away pretense and invite experimentation, they commandeered a garden shed from a friend and retrofitted it to make a twenty-track album that is vast, weird, and wholly unexpected.

Every track is a story and a feeling which through the in depth story telling of Penny&Sparrow come artfully to life .

The cinematic “Arm Candy” , featuring Annika Bennett, is a lush and beautiful track that belongs rightfully on the silver screen.

We found ourselves instantly singing along to “Breakdown” it feels like the kind of song that could be easily sung over a couple of pints .

On an album like “Lefty” it is almost impossible to pick one favorite . but if we had to pick one it would without question be, “Jeopardy” from the first time we heard the song , when it was released as a single we felt such an indescribable connection with the song . Some songs have a special way of finding their way into your heart , this definitely the case with “Jeopardy”

Ski Team Delivers Absolutely Stunningly Beautiful New Single “Islands”

We recently had the incredible opportunity to check out the new single “Islands”, from Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter Ski Team.

You can listen to “Islands” on Spotify Here

Sometimes music is so beautiful and perfect that it can literally take your breath away , this is absolutely the case with “Islands” from singer-songwriter Ski Team. The stunning layered song is a lush hymn and the counterpart to her previous single “Me“.

Ski Team is the solo moniker of Lucie Lozinski, an independent songwriter, singer, producer, and guitarist who’s known for her yearning lyrics, crystalline voice, and gritty instrumentation. American Songwriter has described her music as “… a quasi-Americana sound, combining traditional folk and rock elements with undeniably modern soundscapes.”

She shares, “I wrote “Islands” while producing “Me”—the bass sounded like crickets, and I started looping it and singing over it. The improvised melody and harmony had something so sweet and somber about it. Then we just rapid fire layered harmonies, all unplanned, just whatever I felt like singing. I think that improvised spirit of listening and just doing what feels right—whatever comes out—is what makes this song so special. There was very little planning and designing it. I just sang a song from the soul into the mic, and you can feel that.”

Besides the beautiful harmonies on “Islands” what stood out to us was the brilliant use of subtle ambient noise on the track that added such a wonderful dimension to an already stellar song .

Ski Team collaborated with producer Daniel Knowles (Sharon Van Etten, Cigarettes After Sex) on the new single.

A song like “Islands” from Ski Team , is exactly why we fell in love with music to begin with. – Bravo

Joshua David Thayer Continues To Amaze With Release Of New Single “Beginning To See The Dark” with Acoustic B-Side “Tempest”

We recently had the amazing opportunity to check the new single, “Beginning To See The Dark” from singer-songwriter Joshua David Thayer. Including with the new single is an acoustic version of “Tempest” — which is the lead track on It Will Still Keep Feeling Rough.

You can listen to the two songs on Spotify Here, Apple Music Here and on Bandcamp Here.

You can also check out the video for “Beginning To See The Dark” below

We were beyond excited to get new music from Joshua David Thayer, especially since we are still basking in the glow of his stellar debut album,  “It Will Still Keep Feeling Rough”.

“Beginning To See The Dark”, an outtake from the sessions that shaped the critically acclaimed record. The single is accompanied by “Tempest (Acoustic),” a full acoustic production of the album’s lead track, reimagined with layered textures of acoustic guitars, banjo, slide guitar, and upright bass. This release is particularly meaningful, as it coincides with Thayer’s birthday and marks one year since he debuted his first solo material with the release of “Bird Children” on January 17, 2024.

We were immediately drawn to the haunting and beautifully crafted “Beginning To See The Dark”, the theme of uncertainty that lingers overs the track quietly settles in your soul giving room for solitary reflection.

Beginning To See The Dark” unfolds slowly with a hushed lilting intensity, building subtly until drums enter in the final third, giving way to a slinky and mesmerizing musical ending. The lyrics reflect on themes of struggle and the inevitability of uncertainty, with the refrain, “Now I’m beginning to see the dark in all things,” capturing Thayer’s reflective perspective and voice.

Courtesy Of The Artist

This song came together in an unexpected way, early in the sessions for the album, but never quite fit into the sequence of the record,” says Thayer. “I heard the slide part in my head, rushed out to buy one, watched a video on how to play slide, and recorded the part immediately. It’s a piece that’s all about feeling—something that came through naturally in the moment.”

The brilliant acoustic b-side of “Tempest” offers a vibrant reinterpretation of the lead track of It Will Still Keep Feeling Rough.Far from stripped down, this version delivers a rich, full acoustic production that features intricate layers of acoustic guitars, banjo, slide guitar, and upright bass, creating a sound that is both organic and resonant.  It is also a treat when an artist can add another dimension to a track, Thayer, has definitely done this with “Tempest”

The track’s themes of persistence and transformation remain central, while the new arrangement brings a fresh and dynamic energy.

Both tracks were written, performed, recorded, and mixed by Joshua David Thayer at Brave Tiger in Medford, MA, and mastered by Mark Alan Miller at Radio Valkyrie in Holyoke, MA.

Joshua David Thayer is an artist who’s music and message needs to be heard . Do yourself a favor and check out “Beginning To See The Dark” and the acoustic B-Side of “Tempest” You will be glad you did.

Garrett Vandermolen Delivers A beautifully Crafted New Single”A Million Miles Away”

We recently had the distinct honor to check out the amazing new solo single “Walk A Million Miles “ from singer-songwriter Garrett Vandermolen. You can listen to “Walk A million Miles “ on Spotify Here, Apple Music Here and on Bandcamp Here

Garrett, who is the founder, songwriter, and vocalist for power-pop , rock and roll outfit,  Speedfossil, delivers an absolutely divine new solo track “Walk A Million Miles”, and it is a positively breathtaking musical composition.

We were immediately drawn to the authentic and honest tone and vibe of “Walk A Million Miles from Garrett Vandermolen.

The stunningly beautiful solo effort showcases not only Garret’s multi-instrumental capabilities (he’s playing everything with the exception of the drums and the castanets), but also a different direction- with heavy nods to some of his musical influences that are peripheral to the power pop/rock world he’s been inhabiting.  With shades of R.E.M. and the Byrds, and maybe a little dash of the The Beau Brummels

We especially love the very Americana feel on the track , as it adds another dimension to the track that really makes it stand out .

 “Walk A Million Miles” chimey 12-string guitars and reed organ exude a sense of grace and emotion that match the lyrical content of the narrator’s desire to leave everything behind and go somewhere to start all over again.  As Garret states;

With Speedfossil on an indefinite hiatus, I am going to focus on getting more music out as a solo artist and some other collaborations I have planned for 2025.   I write a lot, and like trying out different things, so I’m excited to do some musical experimentation-I think “Walk A Million Miles” is good first step!”

We absolutely love , “Walk A Million Miles , from Garrett Vandermolen and can’t wait for more music.

You cannot help but be inspired and moved by the music that Crys Matthews creates . It has meaning and purpose that stays with your soul long after the music fades .

Matthews is reclaiming not just of the space Black artists have been denied in Country and Americana music, not just of the space LGBTQ people have been denied in communities of faith, not just of the autonomy women have been denied over their own bodies, she is reclaiming the South that raised her.

The songs on “Reclamation “ are far more than songs… they are important and powerful messages that need to be heard and Crys Matthews is the perfect voice at the perfect moment to deliver them

From the opening track , “The Difference Between” we were hanging on every word and melody . “Reclamation” is the kind of record that you just don’t hear but you feel it as well .

“What A little Love Can Do” from Sam Robbins, is a brilliantly written emotionally filled song that we felt draw to instantly .

Sam shares, shares, “The song was written from a moment. I had spent most of the year on the road, and had just made it back to Nashville from a long run of shows when I heard that there had been a shooting near my house. I was home alone all day after an amazing trip, visiting places that felt so different from where I had grown up in NH, and I started strumming. The song just flowed from there, and I think that’s where the simple, direct nature of the lyrics and message came from – just trying to be in the moment and capture my feelings in a very divided world.”

“What a Little Love Can Do” is the leading single off of his forthcoming album “So Much I Still Don’t See” Sam comments , “It is based around my touring over the past four years – driving 45,000 miles per year, meeting so many people from so many different backgrounds and perspectives than me, a guy in his 20’s from New Hampshire,”

The miles and experience gained along with Sam’s talent as a gifted songwriter/ storyteller make him an artist that is on the rise .

Courtesy Of Artist

On the opening track “Tempest”, which has a brilliant folk rock feel, we were really drawn in by the versatility and tone of Joshua David Thayer’s voice .

After decades of playing bass and collaborating with other artists, Joshua David Thayer stepped into solo work for the first time to explore themes of loss, resilience, and transformation. The project evolved out of spontaneous home recordings and became a way of processing recent events in his life, including the passing of his father.

The album combines indie rock, alterna-folk, and ambient influences, with inspiration drawn from Rick Rubin’s The Creative Act and the creative paths of other artists that Joshua David Thayer admires.

Alongside contributions from Brooklyn-based co-producer Bradford Swanson, drummer Jason Smith, engineer Monte Arnstam, mixer Mark Alan Miller, and mastering by Jonathan Wyner, Joshua shares “this album has been a unique journey into new artistic territory for me.“

Joshua David Thayer has played in the past with Fancy Trash, Love Minus Zero, Hadley Transfer Station, and more. He also performed with artists such as Mark Mulcahy, TW Walsh, Dennis Crommett, Joshua Crane, and Treefort and shared stages with 4 Non Blondes, Juliana Hatfield, The Jayhawks, Langhorne Slim, DeVotchKa, and many more.

“It Will Still Keep Feeling Rough” is a musical treasure trove filled with well crafted songs that touch both the heart and soul.

The subtle groove on “Punch, Crumble And Crawl” really makes the track stand out.

The beautiful,”Peaceful Passing“ is a beautiful moving musical composition with a heartfelt message.

From top to bottom “It Will Still Keep Feeling Rough” is 48 minutes of enjoyable and thoughtful musical compositions. If we had to choose a favorite track (which is so hard to do) it would without question be “Say What You Mean”. This track in our opinion is Joshua David Thayer at his absolute best. ”Say What You Mean” is a unique and melodic gem that has a great story and flawless vocals.

Do your music loving heart a favor and check out “It Will Still Keep Feeling Rough” from Joshua David Thayer.

Bottlemoth Uncorks An Absolute Indie-Folk Masterpiece With Debut Album “Even Us Ghosts”

The debut album “Even Us Ghosts” from indie -folk five piece band Bottlemoth is captivating, melodically mesmerizing and absolutely beautifully put together. ( and we felt all of that in just the first sixty seconds)) Seriously, “Even Us Ghosts “ is a simply spectacular body of music that you can’t ignore. You can listen to “Even Us Ghosts” on Spotify Here , Apple Music Here and on Amazon Music Here

Bottlemoth formed in January of 2024 , and have wasted no time in establishing themselves as one of the premier indie- folk bands of the day.

“Even Us Ghosts” is a well written, well performed body of music that will quickly make its way on to many best of 2024 list .

Their debut full-length was written and produced by the band themselves, with additional recording with Joe Marsh at Orchard Studios and mixing by Adrian Hall (Tori Amos, Bess Atwell, Nova Twins, Cassia).

Lyrically the album explores contemporary themes, digging deep into the complexities of living in your twenties; Coming into your own independence, heartbreak, returning home, navigating mental health and celebrating love, friendships and those who matter most.

Like many of our friends, we’d become twenty somethings living with our families again, and there are a lot of complexities to that; Feeling fortunate to have those people, but the contrasting feeling of becoming a burden. It progressed the themes and images in the writing process, with oceans and ‘the deep’, a direct comparison to sinking emotionally, and tall skylines being the opposite hopes and joy. The album title ‘Even us ghosts’ summarises the record well for just three words. Without speaking for the whole band, across my life I have felt like a ghost in a very loud world. I wouldn’t say I’m spiritual, but the comparison I find inspires a lot of topics for writing. In change and challenge, loneliness in the most crowded places, hoping to always be there for those you care for, the feeling you’re not enough. That last theme manifests a lot. I don’t think we get an answer to the questions of what is enough across our album, but we are talking and that’s something,” says vocalist and lyricist Ethan Proctor.

Every song on “Even Us Ghosts “ feels like a well written passage in a best selling novel. The musical and lyrical details really give the album extra shape, allowing the listener to really connect with the album in very natural and authentic way .

There simply isn’t a bad song on “Even Us Ghosts “, it is truly one those albums that you can let play all the way through without interruption.

The album’s previous singles Tattoo‘, ‘You’ll Always Have Us // Everything Works Out In the End’,  ‘Landslides (people change)” and “Settle In” shine like diamonds on an album that is a treasure trove of stunningly brilliant music . We also loved “Deleted Scenes “ and the beautiful closing track “Hold Me Like You Know Me”

Bottlemoth has delivered an epic debut in “Even Us Ghosts” that simply cannot be missed.

Even us ghosts is out today, (October 17th 2024) and will be available on all major streaming platforms and limited edition vinyl.

Casii Stephan Sings With Purpose On latest Single “Law & Order “ Featuring Crys Matthews And Jay Burgess

We recently had the amazing opportunity to check out the new single “Law&Order from Tulsa based singer-songwriter Casii Stephan featuring social justice warrior, proud black woman and LGBTQ+ folk singer-songwriter Crys Matthews, and acclaimed producer and musician Jay Burgess.

You can listen to “Law&Order” Here

“Law&Order” discusses the perils of racism and polarizing politics.

Casii shares, “In the South, politics takes on a different flavor. We say we’ve progressed and in many ways we have. At the same time, racial slurs shouted from cars and pickup trucks just because they can isn’t abnormal. And that’s not even getting into how our justice system is skewed, bent, and twisted. It seems we keep singing the same song in new ways over and over again. In the middle of 2021, I started writing this song. Then in 2023, I met Jay and Crys and asked them if they would write their perspective about their respective states. This is Law & Order. To those fighting to make our justice system more just and less racist, thank you.”

“Law&Order” from Casii Stephan, featuring Crys Matthews and Jay Burgess is an absolutely beautifully written and performed song. The timely message rings loud and clear as it is gently woven between a perfectly placed melody.

Penny & Sparrow Deliver Absolute Magic with New Single “Country”

We recently had the golden opportunity to check out the new single “Country” from critically acclaimed Austin, Texas indie folk duo, Penny & Sparrow.(Andy Baxter and Kyle Jahnke) “Country” is the third single following “Ketamine “ featuring Tobe Nwigwe and “Mattering Ram” all three tracks will be included on Penny & Sparrow’s upcoming album Lefty to be released January 31, 2025. Catch the band at Austin City Limits on October 4.

You can listen to “Country” Here

Penny & Sparrow have a unique one of a kind sound that warms the soul.”Country” from Penny & Sparrow feels like absolute breath of fresh air.

Penny & Sparrow produced the entire record with  few songs co-produced by their dear friend, Jonathan Oliphant

The band says, “We made Lefty 20 tracks long and gave ourselves acreage of song space to experiment. We wanted to record a double album for the challenge of it, and also for the chance to be sonically rangy and eccentric. The idea of offering all sorts of sounds, structures, melodies, and lyrical approaches in 20 songs was creatively exciting to us, so we did it. We helped build a recording studio in a buddy’s old toolshed and we made most of the record inside it. There were a few field trips to bigger studios in Florence, AL (Portside & SunDrop) but most of Lefty came from that retrofitted garden shed. We wanted to hold genre lightly and take a less curated approach to Lefty, so we followed our noses and made every song we wanted to along the way.”

The album highlights the duo’s ability to craft a distinctive “indie acoustic” sound while seamlessly blending elements from various genres due to their and their exceptional songwriting skills.

Take the single “Country,” for example—it initially comes across as pure country. However, with Penny & Sparrow’s unique touch, it seamlessly merges with indie folk influences. This track is just a glimpse of what fans can anticipate from the full album when it’s released.

We have fallen deep for “Country” from Penny & Sparrow. We are awash in the big beautiful, sweeping melodies and we can’t get enough . Do yourself a favor and go to your favorite music listening spot and get lost in the beauty of “Country” from Penny&Sparrow

You can listen to “Landslides (People Change)” Here

Bottlemoth has such a memorable and authentic sound and that sound is front and center on their latest single , “Landslides (People Change)”

“Landslides (People Change)” is taken from their debut album ‘Even us ghosts’ due for release October 17th 2024.

We love the feel of “Landslides (People Change)” Bottlemoth really hits their musical stride with “Landslides (People Change ) “ perfect vocals with stunning melodies absolute perfection.

The follow up to July’s debut single Tattoo’and August’s surprise double singles You’ll Always Have Us // Everything Works Out In The End”, championed by Fame Magazine, RTE, The Most Radicalist and Spotify and Apple editorial playlists, ‘Landslides (people change)’ is a song about starting over, returning home and tackling the big moments of change.

Discussing what they hoped to explore lyrically with this track, vocalist and lyricist Ethan Proctor explains: “Sometimes change is expected, and sometimes it’s a surprise. It can be terrifying, though more often than not change can be necessary. The last few years have been a bit of a whirlwind, and I first wrote this song when Chess and I moved back to Somerset from London. It was a real period of reflection and change for the band. We can dwell on things, we can hunker down in a rut. Taking some time to look inward is important, and I can forget that. It’s a cool revelation to think we are forever finding ourselves again and again.

Trust me when I say, I know’ is a phrase that felt really prominent at the time and became the last repeating lyric of the song.”

Do yourself self and check the magic of Bottlemoth and their can’t miss new single “Landslides (People Change)”

Crys Matthews Delivers An Authentic And Honest Truth With New Single “The Difference Between “ Featuring Melody Walker And Chris Housman

We recently had the chance to check out the new single “The Difference Between “ from from social justice warrior, proud black woman and LGBTQ+ americana/folk/country singer-songwriter Crys Matthews, featuring Melody Walker and Chris Housman. You can listen to “The Difference Between “ on Spotify Here and Apple Music Here and YouTube Here

We have long said that you can’t fake the truth, Crys Matthews further cements her place as an important voice as she delivers the stunningly brilliant and powerful new single “The Difference Between “ which, features Melody Walker and Crys Matthews .

“The Difference Between”, features three LGBTQ artists, all of whom call Nashville home. Crys Matthews confides, “This is Country too, it looks like you and it looks like me. When I heard Jason Aldean’s “Try That in a Small Town”, I was so offended — not just as a Black woman, but as a proud Southerner. The audacity to think that there would be a South at all without my people is the kind of willful ignorance that keeps folks like me from feeling safe in Country and Americana spaces. There are consequences to that kind of hateful rhetoric.”

She continues , “This is a reclamation not just of the space Black artists have been denied in Country and Americana music, not just of the space LGBTQ people have been denied in communities of faith, not just of the autonomy women have been denied over our own bodies, but a reclamation of the South that raised me.”

A troubadour of truth, Nashville resident Crys Matthews is among the brightest stars of the new generation of social justice music-makers. An award-winning, prolific lyricist and composer, Matthews blends Country, Americana, Folk, Blues, and Bluegrass into a bold, complex performance steeped in traditional melodies punctuated by honest, original lyrics. She is made for these times.

A daughter of the South by way of Nashville now and North Carolina forever, and the self-proclaimed poster child of intersectionality, Matthews is boldly answering those questions on her new album aptly titled Reclamation.

We can’t wait for more music from Crys Matthews in the meantime we will enjoy the beauty of “The Difference Between “ from Crys Matthews featuring Melody Walker and Chris Housman.

The band says, “Have you ever been out in the woods and turned around and not known where you are or how to get where you were going? This is an album about feeling that way in life – lost. It’s about the uncertainty, the dark nights, the scary sounds of the wilderness, the loneliness and the heartache. It’s also about how beautiful and transformative getting lost can be. The smell of new flowers you’ve never seen and the way the sunlight breaks and beams through the forest canopy. When you start hiking up to higher ground, standing on the peak of a mountain and looking at the views of a sprawling valley of trees and rivers. I think we all go through times in our life where we feel the weight of being lost and this album dives deep to explore what it means to find yourself.”

Together with a stellar group of friends and backing musicians, they unwittingly managed to document a major transitional period in the life of the songwriter.

Every song on “Another Year In The Minors” hit perfectly. We loved the authentic and genuine storytelling approach from Wayne Whittaker, especially on the title track.

From “Is Will Soon Be Was” , “Neither Do I” Whittaker, is firing on all cylinders and we absolutely love it . With a collection of such stellar songs it is next to impossible to pick a “favorite” but the one song that really stands out to us is “Pros/Cons” melodically perfect with smartly written lyrics we couldn’t get enough.

Henry and Tom had lots already, and I’d maybe thought too much about the permanence before. Etching memories and art into your skin can be a wonderful thing, and I now have the buzz. Collecting them has become a real hobby now, but I don’t think I’ll ever be covered. I think people that can be fully covered in tattoos must have a strong sense of who they are, and that’s inspiring to me. We can riddle ourselves with doubt, and sometimes it’s hard to just do it.

Tattoo was written and produced by the band themselves across home studios, drums were produced with Joe Marsh at Orchard Studios and the track was mixed by Adrian Hall (Tori Amos, Bess Atwell, Nova Twins, Cassia) who’s experience and expertise helped the band’s vision develop into a unique sound.

Sleepwalker Has Our Full Attention With New Self Titled EP

We recently had the privilege to check out the new self titled EP from Sleepwalker . Sleepwalker is the new EP and project from musican Kevin Harrison.

You can check out the self titled EP from Sleepwalker Here . Harrison fully embraces the freedom of producing and creating music without boundaries. Known for his time on the folk-rock scene with bands Broken Compass Society and Kevin Harrison & True North, the Cranford, New Jersey singer-songwriter found a sense of freedom in leaving behind the constraints of the music industry and pursuing new artistic avenues with his latest creative ventures.

With Sleepwalker, Kevin Harrison has created a one of a kind sound that we can’t turn away from . From the first note on “When The Lights Go Down” all the way through to the fascinating instrumental “Delirium “ we fell deep for the indie-rock/folk/blues sound that is on full display on the self titled EP

We were awash in a beautiful wave of sound on “When The Lights Go Down “ There is a mysterious blusey tone on the track that we can’t get enough of.

“Wake Me Up” which was one of our favorite track on the EP , was the catalyst for the entire Sleepwalker project. It begins with quintessential folk-rock softness before the shackles of standard songwriting constraints fall away amidst the synths, fuzz, and layers of emotive vocals. In the absence of lyrics, there’s a whispering piano floating in the ether, a disorientation that echos the question of “Am I still me?” despite all the changes around you. It was inspired by many sleepless nights as a new parent and the uncertainty that comes with raising the future. (As a fellow parent this one really resonated with us .

Throughout the Sleepwalker EP. Harrison artfully places tones and sounds to really give the EP a unique sound and feel .

Vocally throughout the EP , Harrison puts on absolute vocal clinic. On the title track “Sleepwalker” we literally got chills listening to the flawless vocal performance. “Burn” has a really Smokey feel that stays in your soul , long after the music ends .

From top to bottom there isn’t a bad song on “Sleepwalker” it is truly a work of musical greatness that you can’t afford to miss.

It is always a complete joy to check out the genuine well crafted melodically pleasing music of singer-songwriter Paul Nourigat , and “Assumed It Would Happen “ Is no exception.

Paul’s broad sweep of the Americana landscape recalls such artists as Slaid Cleaves, Guy Clark, The Lumineers, and Jim Lauderdale. Each of his songs occupies its own unique roots-flavored world, and Paul, with his producer and guitarist extraordinaire Adam Selzer—curate just the right mix of musicians for the personality of each track.

Paul Nourigat is a master storyteller, who delivers meaningful and relatable songs that are absolute works of art.

My songs speak to people who want to hear stories,” Paul says. He crafts each album with well-developed overarching themes, and each song features narratives with classic story arcs, including sweet resolutions.

Assumed It Would Happen” hits that sweet spot between country and folk with strummed acoustic guitars, lonesome pedal steel, and plaintive vocals at times gorgeously adorned with female harmony interlace. The chorus refrain speaks to life’s bittersweet transience. Paul sings: Pullin out Memories, when life goes off track/It was what it was, and we can’t go back/Once in a lifetime, but did not know then/Just assumed it would happen, again and again Yeah, again and again.

One of life’s greatest lessons is that special moments are fleeting, and often gone before we know it,” Paul says. He continues: “Early in life, personal challenges taught me to be truly grateful for each good experience that comes my way.”

Close Talker Delivers An Album Full Of Honesty , Truth And Beauty With Latest LP “ The Sprawl”

We have anxiously awaiting the new album “The Sprawl” from Saskatoon, Canada, based indie-rock band Close Talker and , it did not disappoint.

You can listen to “Sprawl” on Spotify Here and on Apple Music Here

From note one on “Burn Out” on “The Sprawl” from Close Talker , we instantly captivated. Close Talker has a vibe and energy in their music that is absolutely mesmerizing. As we listened to each well crafted song on “The Sprawl” , we felt like we were reading a best selling novel .

Will,Matthew and Chris are master level musicians who give an absolutely flawless performance on “The Sprawl“ It is clear in listening to “The sprawl “ , that Will, Matthew and Chris bring the absolute best in each other. From “King George “ , Exodus, and our personal favorite “Tall Boy” there isn’t a bad song to be found anywhere on “The Sprawl”

The project that started as a passion for three friends in 2012 has become formative to their identities. It’s applying the nurture vs. nature argument to now-thirty year olds from the Canadian prairies, a place where change happens slowly and nostalgia holds strong. These are the core themes they dig into in th ‘The Sprawl’. ‘The Sprawl’ accounts for the years 2013-2019 in Close Talker: six years of full-on writing,

recording, touring, rinse, wash, repeat. Those years included incredible highlights and successes, in exchange for burnout and time away from home. Ultimately this period ended with Close Talker needing a break, coaxed by the pandemic into an indefinite hiatus. Taking this break allowed the band to explore other avenues in music. Will dove deep into writing and production and began scoring music for films. Chris built Slow Weather Music, a record label with an expanding roster of new Canadian artists. And eventually, three years later, Close Talker found themselves reminiscing on all the fond memories from ‘The Sprawl’ with the ones causing burn out starting to fade. Memories brought inspiration, and inspiration brought Close Talker back into the studio. They have produced an album that brings together all they have learned over their career; earworm melodies, intricate drums, soaring guitars, and prairie charm.

Remo Drive Deliver Flawless New Indie Pop Album “Mercy”

We recently had the amazing opportunity to check out the new album “Mercy” from the long standing project of brothers Erik and Stephen Paulson – Remo Drive Following a six-year run of pristine emo-influenced rock ‘n’ roll records comes Mercy, the band’s fourth album, out today via Epitaph. It’s the band’s most lyric-focused offering to date, a record about reinvention, trusting yourself, and wearing your heart on your sleeve even when it’s painful or vulnerable. And …. It is giving us all the feels .

You can listen to Mercy Here

The origins of Mercy are based on moving apart, with Erik relocating to the sleepy upstate city of Albany, New York as Stephen stayed back in the duo’s native Minnesota. In this new environment, Erik wrote constantly, playing alone in his room and allowing himself to use his music to think existentially about life. He contemplated the complexities of being in a relationship, of making art and having it be received by a wide audience, and the complexities of finding your footing in a new place (inspiring single “New In Town”).

In addition to the physical distance added between them, the new album introduces a major sonic departure from records of Remo past. Less indebted to the emo and pop punk that foregrounded the duo’s career, instead Mercy is invested in thorny, baroque indie pop by way of Father John Misty and Fleet Foxes. The band thrived under the guidance of legendary Seattle-based producer, Phil Ek (The Shins, Band Of Horses) who helped bring their new ideas to life in the span of ten days. “It was refreshing to work with Phil,” says Erik, “It made music feel like how it did when we were younger. He was like fuck it, let’s go, let’s have fun.”

Returning to their respective home studio setups to finish up the album, remote recording sessions were also something new to the brothers who had gotten used to the comfort and convenience of making music in one room. The band cheekily refers to the experience as toggling between their most legit recording environment and their most scrappy, “It’s like going from Michelin Star to the Dollar Store,” jokes Erik. The record also features touring members Dane Folie who plays keys on “Hold You,” and Sam Becht who plays drums throughout. Tim Houston is also on the record, playing pedal steel

In many ways Mercy is a testament to getting in touch with your mental health, deprogramming what you thought you knew about yourself and using music to unlock inner honesty. It lends to some of Remo Drive’s strongest lyrical work yet – proof that they have found their stride making the art they really want to make.

We found ourselves really connecting to “Mercy” from Remo Drive . The authentic feel and sound makes “Mercy” one of those records we will never get tired listening to.
