We recently had the stellar opportunity, to check out the glorious new single, “Paradise Lost”, from Needham (Ma ) native and front man , for the band, The Teardowns, Steve Geraci, You can listen to “Paradise Lost “ on Spotify Here. And on Apple Music Here
Right from the first note of , “Paradise Lost” it is a clear that Steve Geraci, has crafted a song with a classic soulful sound and a modern vibe .
The soulful sound found on , “Paradise Lost” , can be traced back to Steve’s first love, the saxophone.
“Early on, I was in alto and tenor sax sections where I developed a love for harmony and dynamics,”
says Geraci. “It felt great to bring those early roots forward here.”
“Paradise Lost” showcases another stylistic twist in Geraci’s shape-shifting approach to songwriting —something he fully embraces.
“Alt-pop, glam rock, R&B — they’re all represented on the new EP,” he says. “If you like variety, look no further. As long as the music feels authentic, I’ll bring it to listeners who appreciate different styles.”
Produced and engineered by Dave Westner (Peter Wolf, Dropkick Murphys) and recorded earlier this year at David Minehan’s Woolly Mammoth Sound in Waltham, Massachusetts, the track features Westner on drums, piano, and bass, alongside Geraci’s guitar, sax, and vocals.
With his time split between solo work and fronting The Tear Downs,Geraci has built a collaborative,non-territorial dynamic that allows freedom across projects. Following his well-received singles “VoiceIn My Head” (March) and “Save Yourself” (August), “Paradise Lost” adds a raw and soulful chapter to Geraci’s evolving solo story.
“‘Paradise’ was a risk taker for me — rough and raw, but really emotive and relatable,”Geraci concludes. “When we listened back to the rough mix, we knew we’d bottled pure octane.”
Steve Geraci, is a master class musician who has the incredible ability to bring songs to life with his extraordinary songwriting and storytelling skills. A Steve Geraci song feels like a New York Time’s Best Seller , but in song form and “Paradise Lost” is no exception.

Maggie Kane , is a talented and gifted songwriter/ storyteller that artfully crafts songs that have vibrant pop sensibilities and subtle synth textures. We were literally hanging on every melody and word of “Candied Ginger” as if it were a page turning best selling novel.
Maggie Kane, through her music speaks to the soft-hearted and the overthinkers, with a sound that sits somewhere between the whimsy of Gabrielle Aplin and the wistful intimacy of Lizzy McAlpine. Candied Ginger explores the lingering aftertaste left behind when a relationship ends. It’s for anyone who’s ever held on too long and felt the quiet ache of knowing it’s time to move on.
Speaking about , “Candied Ginger” , Maggie shares : The song was born from a fleeting moment—being handed a ginger candy by someone I knew I had to let go of,” says Kane. “It became a metaphor for the things we keep consuming, even when we know they’re not good for us. When I’m working through something complicated, I always find myself at the piano—and this time, that feeling became a song.”
Kane’s roots are in the theatre—she’s the co-creator and lyricist of “this old haunt”, a folk musical and 2025 O’Neill semifinalist. Previously, it has had an academic premiere at Carnegie Mellon University, workshopped through NYU’s Tisch New Theatre, Fort Salem Theatre, as well as participated in the Latiné Musical Theatre Lab and Prospect Theater Company’s New Musical Mixtape concert. Maggie was a finalist for 2024’s international songwriting competition Write Out Loud Across all her original work, Kane explores coming of age and the female experience with a voice that’s been described as poetic and raw.

Being that it is such an honor to sing on Sly & Robbie riddims, I was initially a bit intimidated, honestly,” says Spaker. “But as I stepped into the booth that first night, a feeling came through that was effortless and full of vibes. When I felt the energy coming from Sly & Robbie’s playing, I just composed the lyrics and melody in one rough take. What an honor to be able to create alongside my musical heroes. Rest in Power to the mighty Robbie Shakespeare.”

For us when it comes to soul soothing punk rock, Nobody hits the sweet spot quite like Sweet Gloom, and on their latest single, “LOUDMOUTHS”, they are firing a thousand percent on all cylinders…. And it’s freaking beautiful.
With vocalist/guitaristJaake Margo’s classic ’50s/’60s pop-inflected vocals against modern punk urgency, the track rockets forward on fuzz-sweet guitars, sugary-silk vocal harmonies, and driving rhythm. Rather than villainizing either partner, “LOUDMOUTHS” traps listeners inside the looping debate.

The song puts the listener smack dab in the middle of a tumultuous relationship,” said Margo. “You ask your partner: if we argue this much, are we ever gonna make it? Are we soulmates or are we destined for failure?”
Everyone always wants to know what’s new ? What’s fresh?….. Look no further than “LOUDMOUTHS” from Sweet Gloom.

Any day we get to listen to the smooth sounds of Luke Marzec, it’s a good day. We were absolutely mesmerized by the otherworldly vocals from Luke Marzec, on “Broken Promises”
“‘Broken Promises’ is about new beginnings. It’s about jumping on a plane, going to the other side of the world, and starting afresh,” Luke Marzec explains about his luminous new single which blends raw reflection and hopeful renewal over warm analog textures and plaintive vocal.
The track feels both bright and cathartic and continues to build momentum for Marzec’s debut album, Something Good Out Of Nothing, set for release on August 18, 2025 via Swift Half Records. He adds, “And although I know that to confront the issues in your life – to learn from your mistakes and to live a better life – I know that that requires introspection and to work on yourself, and it’s a long and steady road, but there’s another part of me that thinks… Sometimes it might just be your surroundings. Maybe you can get bored. Maybe when you’re bored, you end up not living properly, and you end up making mistakes, and accidentally just being a slightly shitter version of yourself. But, if you live life with adventure… if you do jump on that plane, go to the other side of the world, experience a new place, and get excited by life again; maybe that really could be the catalyst that will get you to be excited about life, to smell the roses, and to take life by the horns, and ultimately become a better you. Life really is an adventure.”
The beautifully crafted , “Broken Promises”, from Luke Marzec, further cements the case that Luke Marzec, is a voice you need to pay attention to.

Tomás Doncker has long been a prime mover on the New York music, arts and culture scenes. From the early 1980s, as a member of groundbreaking No Wave and Punk Funk bands The Contortions and Defunkt, international touring, recording and songwriting collaborations with luminaries such as Bootsy Collins, Meshell Ndegeocello, Ivan Neville, The Specials and the legendary Ms. Patti Smith, to helming his own band, The True Groove All-Stars, Tomás has established himself as a cross-genre innovator without peer.
Discussing his decision to cover the single he explains, “Motörhead… Lemmy…Ace of Spades. Who doesn’t love this song? I have since I first heard it many lifetimes ago. A few years back, I was in a car and it came on the radio – and it spoke to me in a very different way than it ever had before. This was the moment when the idea of covering it popped into my head. When I read the lyrics, it became clear to me what it was that was tugging at me…The Blues. I realised that Motörhead had changed the spirit of Son House, Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters, and the Delta Blues storytelling tradition and sped it up to create one of the quintessential rock and roll anthems of all time. It became obvious that I had to sing this song. I saw myself in it.”
We blissfully basked in the absolute soulful perfection of the phenomenal version of “Ace Of Spades”, from Tomás Doncker
The upcoming EP ‘Hard Is Hard’was produced with James Dellatacoma (Bill Laswell, Herbie Hancock) and mastered by Michael Fossenkemper (Paul Weller, LL Cool J, Miles Davis) and includes guest instrumentation from Frank Benbini (UB40, Fun Lovin’ Criminals), Adriano Rossetti-Bonell (UB40) and The Specials Horns. With elements of soul, blues, funk, rock and some jazz thrown in for good measure, ‘Hard Is Hard’ is a five-track masterclass in Doncker’s innate knack for genre fluidity. The EP lyrically explores themes of racial inequality, social injustice and keeping a positive mental attitude through hard times.
Doncker was recently invited to support Fun Lovin’ Criminals on their extensive tour throughout the UK and Europe alongside his band, The True Groove All-Stars, which include members of The Specials Horns.
On the tour, he says, “I’m so honoured, and excited to have been invited to be a part of the upcoming Fun Lovin’ Criminals fall UK/EU tour. Their new EP, “All You’ll Ever Be Good For” , from War Honey, is a well curated collection of music that may just be one of the best EP, of 2025
In our opinion the best music is not pigeon holed in to one genre, but rather is a cornucopia of sounds and styles, War Honey, has accomplished this and then some. On “All You’ll Ever Be Good For”, War Honey ( vocalist Gabrielle Dana, guitaristBen Fitts, bassist David Bloom, and drummerVictoria Smith) are a group of next level musicians, who’s attention to detail on “All You’ll Ever Be Good For”, is both noticeable and appreciated.

We had the absolutely amazing opportunity, to check out the new single, “Laurel”, from Boston , based high-energy funk and soul-pop group , The Far Out. You can listento “Laurel” Here
The Far Out, are one of those bands, that make us want scream “We Love Music! “ “Laurel” is a funky, soulful track that we fall deeper and deeper in love with every time we hear it.
The Far Out’s vibrant new retro-soul single “Laurel,” is the latest slice of high-energy funk-pop from the rising Boston sextet that hits the streams today, (Friday, May 30) . “Laurel” is the follow-up to February’s supercharged single “Funkadelic Gas,” and both infectious tracks will be featured on the “New Act of the Year” recipient at the 2024 New England Music Awards’ forthcoming debut album, set for release this summer.
“Laurel,” with its Yacht Rock cool, charismatic swagger, and alluring sax n’ brass sass, also throws it back to the golden era of ‘70s songwriting with clever lyrical wordplay and charming innuendo, juxtaposing the music’s optimistic and upbeat nature with a heartbreak situation just bubbling under the surface.
‘Laurel’ is deceptively not a love song,” says lead vocalistOlivia Lowe. “It’s about continuing to see someone romantically despite knowing that it’s going nowhere, because they will never commit to being fully or exclusively with you. The chorus ‘rest on my Laurel’ is a play on words, where it’s just easier to stay with this person rather than make the effort to leave them.”
Lowe paints an unfulfilled picture in the lyrics that is deliberately opposed to the overall vibe of the song, which feels like the perfect summer bop to add to all our beach-going and care-free day playlists. But that’s also the point – something that feels sunny and warm on the surface may not be what it seems after a deeper dive into what’s really going on.
“I hope that when people hear it, they dance,” Lowe adds. “But I hope that when they listen more closely to the lyrics, they understand that it’s okay to get out once something stops being fun or isn’t right for them anymore. I was able to easily write this happy-sounding, confident song because I’m firmly on the other side of the exact situation it describes.”
And for Lowe, band life in The Far Out is a happy relationship as well – and that comes out in the effortless cool and creative chemistry displayed by the collective of close friends and multi-instrumentalists, rounded out on “Laurel” by core members Ellie Dolan (trumpet, backing vocals); Ryan Fremont-Smith (bass guitar, backing vocals); Drew Phillips (drums); Colin Senechal (tenor saxophone); and Henry Zagarella (keys, organ, backing vocals).
“Laurel” is a great balance of the sounds of the past mixed with a vibrant energy that points to the future.
Penned by Lowe, Zagarella, and Phillips, “Laurel” flexes what The Far Out does best – it cranks up the energy and creates its own mood through sheer infectiousness and positive vibes. “Laurel” was recorded with Fremont-Smith as engineer at FS Studios, with drums and mixing engineered by Sean McLaughlin at 37′ Productions. The track was mastered by Jeff Lipton at Peerless Mastering with assistant mastering by engineer Costanza Tini.
“Laurel “ , from The Far Out, is a track that your ears must hear.

Hahn was welcomed into the East Iris family when his former band played a show at an East Iris live night. We recently had the amazing opportunity, to check out the new single, “Dance In A Trance”, from emerging singer and songwriter Ana Luna. You can listen to “Dance In A Trance” Here
We were immediately captivated by the smooth and flawless vocals from Ana Luna , “Dance In A Trance”, is an absolute gem.
“Dance in a Trance” , is an ethereal and introspective track that dives deep into the emotional aftershocks of a past relationship. Building on the momentum of earlier releases like “Oxytocin” and “Why Not,” the new single further showcases Ana’s eclectic, genre-blurring sound and distinctive artistic voice.
Guided by her hypnotic vocals and sweeping, cinematic production, “Dance in a Trance” explores how memory and identity shift in the aftermath of love. Through introspective lyrics like “a caged romance, I danced in a trance,” Ana captures the paradox of being trapped in something intense, even beautiful, that ultimately left both people feeling confined. It’s more than a breakup song; it’s an unflinching meditation on transformation, memory, and the quiet unraveling that often follows the end of a relationship.
“People will interpret my songs however they want, but this one wasn’t about making anyone the bad guy—it was very much about me,” she says. “I’d run into my ex and he wouldn’t even look at me. When we did lock eyes, the energy just felt… different. The line ‘a caged romance’ came from something he once said to a friend of ours about feeling ‘caged’ or trapped, which ironically, is how I felt too. It wasn’t toxic in the way we tend to define toxic now—but maybe it was in its own way, just because of how intense it all was. This song lives in that duality of: either you’ve always been this person and I was blind, or remind me why I loved you so I don’t feel like an idiot.”
Born in Ukraine, raised in Paris, and now based in Los Angeles, Ana Luna is a natural-born storyteller whose music is as cinematic as it is emotionally raw. Though she’s always known she was destined to be an artist, Ana initially led with acting and kept her songwriting close to the chest. It wasn’t until college, after years of emotional growth and inner work, that she finally gave herself permission to stop overthinking and dive fully into music. Over time, she’s shaped a signature sound that moves effortlessly between dream pop, alt-rock, and moody ballads, creating songs that feel celestial, sultry, and reflective.
Ana Luna, has a style and sound that is simply breathtakingly beautiful. “Dance In A Trance” is a song that will dance within your soul long after the music has faded.

“Stone Cold.” A deeply personal ballad born from pain, self-reflection, and ultimately, healing, “Stone Cold” marks a pivotal moment in Jackson’s journey — both musically and emotionally.
Written in her bedroom in Bali, the song emerged in a late-night haze, the melody coming to life while she was, in her own words, “drunk and overwhelmed with feelings I had buried for years.” Originally laced with expletives, the track evolved into something more nuanced — a powerful, articulate reckoning with the past.
Stone Cold is about the marriage I had to walk away from — one where I experienced domestic abuse and completely lost myself trying to save someone who didn’t want to be saved,”Jackson shares. “It’s been five years since my divorce, and this is the first time I’ve truly unpacked what happened. Music gave me the space to confront the trauma head-on.”
The single explores the heartbreaking truth that love alone isn’t always enough — especially when only one person is fighting to keep the relationship alive. “No matter how much I wanted it to work, it was never meant to be,” she says. “This song helped me understand why I allowed someone to treat me that way — and why I’ll never allow it again.”
With her signature husky, soulful vocals and unflinching honesty, Sydney Jo Jackson delivers a song that will resonate with anyone who’s had to choose themselves over a love that hurt them. “Stone Cold” is more than a breakup song — it’s an anthem of survival.
“Stone Cold”, from Sydney Jo Jackson, is a powerful and important song that needs to be heard.
We recently had the spectacular opportunity, to check out the new EP, “Temporary Circus: Act 1”, from Boston, singer-songwriter Derek Smith and the Cosmic Vultures.
You can listen to, “Temporary Circus:Act 1” on Spotify Here, Apple Music Here And on Bandcamp Here
The latest EP, from Derek Smith and the Vultures, “Temporary Circus: Act 1 , is a joyous musical treasure trove of brilliantly crafted musical compositions.
Derek Smith and the Cosmic Vultures’ new EP, Temporary Circus: Act 1, is a five-track collection from the prolific Boston singer-songwriter that hits the streams today, ( Friday, May 16. ) This new record arrives about a half-year from the band’s recent album Opus, and marks the start of a new creative chapter with additional acts to quickly follow.
“Sonically, this is an acoustic album to me,” Smith says. “I didn’t use a full drum kit here. It feels different than Opus and that was my intention. I have people asking me why I didn’t make a direct sequel to Opus and it’s because I already did it. It’s time for a new sound.”
Where Opus was a majestic declaration of excess and grandeur, coming off more like a greatest hits compilation in its sweeping production and ambitious drive, Temporary Circus: Act 1 is something far more personal, more raw, and more organic. Intact is Smith’s penchant for melody, and the alarming ease with which he steers his sound through familiar corridors of alternative, pop-rock, indie-folk, psych, Yacht Rock, AM ‘70s gold, funk, and whatever else escapes from his creative mental asylum. The many different stylistic offerings make the EP, a melodic delight. Smith’s sound has always been jovial on the surface, with something a little darker glowing underneath.
Throughout Temporary Circus: Act 1, there is a growing unease and overwhelming sense of malaise that permeates through the five songs, and drawn together serve as a bit of a warning about what the future may hold, with carnival-like interludes and faux news reports acting as segues, similar to how we doom scroll from one app to the next to feed our serotonin needs: “Question everything. Do your research. Whatever hardship you’re going through… it’ll pass. And to hell with toxic people.”
Derek Smithand the Cosmic Vultures have crafted an EP, that flows freely in many melodic directions, while also artfully articulating the state of world . Because, it’s also a proper Derek Smith and the Cosmic Vultures album, so beneath the layers of social awareness, messages both subliminal and obvious, and lyrical wordplay wisdom, is another sparkling and celestial record that glows with Smith’s vivid storytelling acumen. He’s now officially released 73 songs since 2017, both with the Cosmic Vultures and as a solo artist, and the creative tank shows no signs of emptying.
The EP opener and title track immediately set the lyrical theme, a daydream-like composition with a propulsive thump and twinkling demeanor where a certain type of circus comes to town to whisk us away in our own cerebral slumbers. The yearning, campfire glide “Strange Life” explores feelings of self-discovery and our shared end-goal of being comfortable with who we are, despite greater forces influencing us otherwise.
Smith leans into political lanes on the poignant and straight-forward “The Puppets of Hypocrisy,” fueled by a sonic buoyancy and pub sing-along mood while hidden meanings lurk behind the lyrical phrases. The atmospheric and star-gazing “Some Girls” (Our favorite track on the EP) finds a central comfort in the strength and poise of women, with Smith casting admiration for what they provide the world and how much they deal with and are forced to endure.
And EP closer “Indie Darling” was inspired by a dream Smith had walking through Salem, Massachusetts, waking up feeling so connected to the city and feeling free from the circus that had previously dogged his mental state.
“My music is a universe that I created,” Smith concludes. “If someone connects to my music, that is wonderful. But they need to use the info wisely. Use the info to help you put together whatever your opinion is. Bottom line: A famous musical artist (or hell, a local one) spreading their message is fine. But it’s NOT the end all be all. Form your own opinions. I think it’s important that everyone has a platform to express their opinion on the world… but people get obsessed with artists and then they become idols. Just be careful with that stuff. It could be your next Temporary Circus.”
We were absolutely captivated by “Temporary Circus: Act 1 “ from DerekSmith and the Cosmic Vultures, it is a must listen.
The topic and discussion of mental health awareness, is both important and necessary.
Today, (May 16th 2025) , in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, The Lael Project will release ‘Insidious’, via True Groove Records, the third posthumous single from New Yorksoul/pop artist Lael Summer, whose deeply personal lyrics and powerhouse vocals drew early praise from publications such as EarMilk, The Big Takeover,Kings of A&R, PopDose and Soul Tracks before her tragic death by suicide at age 24. The song continues her legacy of encouraging open conversations about mental health, suicide and eating disorders.
In September 2024, writer and artist Marla Mase founded The Lael Project to pay tribute to her daughter’s life and music and to carry out Lael’s wish to ‘help just one person’ by fostering open discussions about suicide, eating disorders, depresson and other mental health challenges. Marla believes that the sharing of stories, music and experiences are a gateway to healing.
By sharing Lael’s story / our story (mental illness is a family ‘disease’), we hope it will give others the inspiration and courage to share their own. To let them know that they are not alone and that it is OK to open up, to speak and that there is no shame or judgement in what they are experiencing. There are billions of u out here ready to listen and to connect and that perhaps together we can pave a way towards healing. I am a firm believer in the power of storytelling. It is a path, I am sure, out of the darkness”,says Marla Mase.
Written and demoed on her iPhone just weeks before her death, ‘Insidious‘ is an intimate and unflinching look inside Lael’s lifelong battle with depression, suicidality and eating disorders. The track, produced and mixed by Tomás Doncker and James Dellatacoma, features Lael’s raw vocal extracted from that original iPhone demo, now restored thanks to the advancement of recording technology. The result is an impassioned plea that sheds light on the pain and confusion that those with mental health illnesses endure.
You can listen to , “Insidious” on Spotify Here and on Apple Music Here
Discussing the creation of the single, Tomás Doncker says, “We built a track that supports Lael’s vision. She already had all of the lyrics when we started writing the tune, and the mysterious and darkly brooding atmosphere was already quite evident. Lael was surely no stranger to intens as far as her lyrical/melodic choices were concerned – always choosing to approach the subject matter of all her songs head on. Fearlessly.”
“Insidious”, has a beautiful soulful melody, that is coupled with a flawless vocal performance from Lael Summer
On her thoughts on the song’s subject matter Lael’s Mother Marla explains, “‘Insidious’ is not just a song, it’s a call for compassion and a mirror for the millions who struggle with the emotional instability and unreliability that comes with having a mental illness. I believe those struggling with mental health will see themselves in this song. You feel you have it under control and then suddenly you don’t. It’s back, full force. Lael would call this insidiousness ‘the murderer’ living in her brain. It helped her personify it, to understand that it was not ‘her’, it was the illness. One of the symptoms of mental illness is to isolate, to make you feel hopeless and defective, a burden, and this song is outing those lies. Lael was not afraid to sing about what she was dealing with, she needed to do it, to express all her fears. She was fearless in that way – brutally honest lyrics about her experiences. She did it for her survival and she did it with the hope that her story would help others recognise themselves, know that they aren’t alone and to seek help.

“These days the world is sad, so I wanted to make happy songs,” says singer/songwriter JON MUQ. “I wanted to write songs that connected with the listener in a very personal way. When someone listens to my music, it’s not just about me and what I’m singing… I think these songs can speak many languages, depending on what you want from them.”
Music is part of a larger conversation Jon Muq is engaging in with the world. Drawing from African as well as Western musical trends and traditions, he creates songs as offerings to the world, designed to settle into everyday life and provoke reflection and resilience. Muq explains, “This song is about the appreciation of my voice being heard as a migrant moving to and navigating a fast-paced new culture. If you have an opportunity, let your voice be heard.”
With heartfelt lyrics and melody, captured brilliantly by producer Dan Auerbach (The Black Keys) and his hand-picked session musicians (Jay Bellerose [drums], Tommy Brenneck [bass/guitar], Tom Bukovac [guitar], Mike Rojas [keys], and Sam Bacco [percussion]), “Hear My Voice” offers a bright, light guitar part and cheerful percussion with a tinge of melancholy in the melody. The song feels like sunlight and love and warmth, and Muq has a talent to create music that can speak to all equally. Auerbach is also behind the production of Muq’s upcoming album Flying Away, to be released later this year.
Hot on the heels of the “Hear My Voice” release, Muq will be embarking on a North America Tour this Spring and Summer, on which he’ll be able to share his universally uplifting craft. Being from such a different part of the world, Muq is looking forward to “discovering more” about the U.S. “It’s always a pleasure to tour with amazing musicians. I’m excited,” he says. Kicking off April 15th in Philadelphia at World Cafe Live with GRAMMY®-nominated Valerie June(who shares the first four dates with him) and wrapping up on August 16th at Steamboat Springs, CO’s Strings in the Mountain, Muq will play his soulful music all over the country, at many incredible venues and festivals, including: Bonnaroo, Smoky Hill River Festival, Woof Stock, Calgary Folk Festival, Red Ants Pants Festival, Rocky Mountain Folk Festival, and more.

We recently had the amazing opportunity to check out the new single, “Me&Vincent” from Side 4 Collective featuring Colm Quearney and Keith Margo.
You can listen to “Me&Vincent” Here You can also watch the video below
Spearheaded by internationally renowned Irish drummer Dave Hingerty, Side 4 Collective brings an eclectic array of Irish and international artists together, sculpting songs from scratch using Hingerty’s pre-written melodic and primal drum patterns. ‘Me & Vincent‘ features the additional writing, performing and production talents of Colm Quearney and Keith Margo.
This song, ‘Me & Vincent’ is a love letter to the urban and suburban communities of Dublin. The youth are the life and soul, humour and character of our beautiful city. The protagonists in the song’s lyrics are on a fun journey that pays homage to how Dublin Youth bring a sense of adventure and colour to our city. The video was edited by Kevin Lynch and filmed in Dublin City Centre and in Poppintree, Ballymun by Dave Hingerty and Niamh O Donnell. The Poppintree Youth Centre were so helpful in allowing us unique access so we could see how everybody there learns about music, express themselves and develop their talents.
Colm Quearney: “When Dave explained his concept for making this album, I honestly never heard of a better idea. Dave is someone who has brought his creative support and patience to so many songwriters compositions. The whole Side 4 Collective project has given his many song writing peers the chance to reciprocate their talents to his creations. The innovative thing about the project is that it turns the song writing process on its head. Dave invited songwriters to compose a song from an opposing perspective. He started out the project by sharing original drum parts with various songwriters and performance artists. Then, they got to enter the process of writing from a rhythmic perspective. The results have yielded an incredible cornucopia of songs, music and spoken word; with the common thread being Dave’s gift for finding an infectious pulse”.
Colm chose one of Dave’s exciting grooves from the Side 4 vaults. This song was recorded between three studios in Dublin and London. Colm and Keith worked back and forth on the music and lyrics responding to Dave’s funkadelic groove. Zach Paradis (pronounced “paradise“), a Cleveland-born artist now based in Los Angeles, has gifted the world an incredible gift with his new single, “Hurricane”

Known for blending pop, hip-hop, and R&B influences, Paradis began his career in Atlanta as a producer and engineer, before embarking on his solo journey. His music emphasizes honest storytelling and dynamic production, promising listeners an engaging experience with his latest track, “Hurricane.” The track showcases Paradis‘ signature emotive vocals and thought-provoking lyrics, drawing listeners into a whirlwind of raw emotion and personal reflection. With a catchy hook and a fusion of energetic beats, “Hurricane” is a testament to his growth as an artist and his ability to create music that resonates deeply with his audience.
Paradis says,“I wrote this song about finding peace in someone when life feels like a storm around you. Some people have a way of bringing a calm to chaos, like the eye of a hurricane. Even if it’s just for a short while, like it was for me in this case, they can make everything ok when they’re with you.”
The youngest of nine, Zach Paradis grew up searching for his place, not just in his family, but in the world. Inspired by the grit and resilience of the working-class people around him and the music that shaped his childhood, classics like Steely Dan, singer-songwriters such as Ed Sheeran, and genre-bending acts like Bryson Tiller, he set out on a journey to find where he belonged.
Atlanta was the first stop. There, Zach honed his craft as a producer and engineer, helping others bring their sound to life. But the deeper he dug into others’ music, the more he realized he had something unique to say too. Equipped with ambition and a hunger to evolve, he made the leap to Los Angeles, not just to make music, but to become the artist he was meant to be.
Zach’s music is the sound of self-discovery–an ever-evolving blend of the influences that shaped him, woven into something uniquely his own. Every lyric, every melody is a step closer to who he is, proving that belonging isn’t about where you are, but about owning who you are.
Zach Paradis, will be going on tour starting April, 3rd , dates are below.

Full disclosure: up until today we were unfamiliar with the absolutely stunning artistry that is NOSHOWS . ( We are truly sorry it took us this long to come to the party)
NYC’s Max Satow, professionally known as NOSHOWS, is finding a fascinating niche as a singer-songwriter and frontman by fusing explorations of the inner workings of the mind with a wildly eclectic blend of alt-rock, hip-hop, and funk.
From the moment we heard the opening melody on “Use To It” we were immediately captivated. The vocals and melodic tones are so perfect that they are a work of art worthy to be displayed at the finest museums .
NOSHOWS has gained a loyal fan base from its electrifying shows at NYC’sGramercyTheatre, Mercury Lounge, Sofar Sounds residency, UK’s Great Escape Festival, and most recently, a run of Northeast tour dates with Brass Against.
The EP, artfully makes you not only move your feet but it also makes think, which goes along with Satow’s lifelong fascination with the chaos and psyche of the human mind, and his advocacy of such issues, has its roots in his family’s founding of The Jed Foundation, a non-profit that protects emotional health and prevents suicide for teens and young adults, giving them the skills and support they need to thrive. It was inspired by and named after the singer’s uncle, who took his own life.
Satow has created a mental health hub of his own with Magnify the Mind, a community whose mission is to educate and advocate for those who need emotional support. NOSHOWSTightrope EP, co-produced/co-written with two-time Grammy winner Marc Swersky (Joe Cocker, Little Stranger) and mixed by Seth Von Paulus (Smashing Pumpkins, Linda Perry)

“Let The Praying Begin” is off upcoming LP ‘Straight Up’
We recently had the honor to check out the fantastic new single, “Let The Praying Begin via Oglio Records, “ from guitarist, singer, and songwriterJamie James. You can listen to “Let The Praying Begin”Here
Jamie James has had a rich and varied musical career, best known for his work with DQ and The Sharks (featuring actor Dennis Quaid), his long-time collaborations with the late Harry Dean Stanton, his role as a touring member of Steppenwolf in the late ’70s, and as the lead singer and founding member of the LA-based rockabilly trio Kingbees—the band behind the hit “My Mistake.”
On his upcoming 10-track solo LP, Straight Up, James reunites with his DQ and The Sharks bandmates—Tom Walsh (drums), Ken Stange (organ), and Tom Mancillas(bass)—with Jamie on guitar and harmonica.
The first single, “Let The Praying Begin” from Jamie James is an absolute religious experience. Jamie James, puts his whole heart and soul into his music and it is a beautiful thing.
Of the single, James says, “I grew up in rock ‘n’ roll in the ’60s—let’s just say I didn’t always live the life of a choirboy. But after a while, you find someone you actually love, and that feels better than anything. The song is about saying, if this relationship is wrong or a sin, or if this woman is too good for me, I’m not stopping—so go ahead and pray for me. In the end, the power of love makes us better”
A true survivor of rock’s ever-changing landscape, Jamie James remains an influential figure whose contributions to rockabilly, rock, and Americana continue to resonate with fans and fellow musicians alike. Straight Up, marks a return to his roots while showcasing his evolution as an artist, blending his signature style with fresh, contemporary sounds. With its raw energy and heartfelt lyrics, the album further cements Jamie’s place in the pantheon of rock’s most enduring voices.
As James, explains, “There isn’t a dishonest word on this record.”

We were instantly attracted to “WHA-GWAAN” which, features guest drums and vocals rom Fun Lovin’ Criminals/UB40’s Frank Benbini. The groove-alicious is being released on Doncker’s label True Groove Records
Tomás Doncker has long been a prime mover on the New York music, arts and culture scenes. From the early 1980s, as a member of groundbreaking No Wave and Punk Funk bands The Contortions and Defunkt, international touring, recording and songwriting collaborations with the likes of Bootsy Collins, Meshell Ndegeocello, Madonna, The Specials and the legendary Ms. Patti Smith, to helming his own band The True Groove All-Stars, Tomás has established himself as a cross-genre innovator without peer.
Doncker’s previous works have seen praise from the likes of BBC, CNN, Huff Post, MOJO, Spin, Brooklyn Vegan and NPR’s ‘All Songs Considered’, Guitar World, All About Jazz, Paste Magazine, Rolling Stone and Blues Matters Magazine where he was a recent main cover feature.
Wha-Gwaan!’follow’s September’s EP ‘The AMPlified Soul Remixes’, Doncker’s most recent collaboration with the late acclaimed, grammy award winning ‘ambassador of funk’ Amp Fiddler, renowned for his performances with the likes of Prince and Seal.
The track serves as a wake up call to the increasing levels of social and racial injustice and the lack of acknowledgement of it.
On Wha-Gwaan!’s subject matter, Doncker says, “The legendary Nigerian Godfather of Afro Beat, Fela Ransome Kuti once said: ‘Music is the weapon of the future’. Well…The future is most definitely NOW! ‘Wah Gwaan’ is a Jamaican Patois greeting that means ‘what’s going on?’ or ‘what’s up?’. The lyric is a modern day riff on Marvin Gaye’s classic ‘What’s Going On’. Through an Afro Beat / Funk-Rebel music lens. It was designed to be a wake up call response to the seemingly increasing presence of social injustice in the world today. The hypnotic dub-funk groove is brought to the boiling point by the legendary Frank Benbini (Fun Lovin’ Criminals/UB40/Uncle Frank), who I’m thrilled makes a guest appearance on drums and hype vocals.”

The musical energy felt with FAKE SUEDE on “Love Don’t Come Easy “ is absolutely off the charts .

We were absolutely blown away by the big beautiful sound of “I Can’t Get You Out Of My Mind “ from Luke Marzec . The big beautiful soulful sound on the track is absolutely breathtaking.
When asked to describe the sound , Luke shares “It’s a retro sound. It’s a vintage sound but with a twist,”
Taken from his debut album, Something Good Out Of Nothing which will be released in two parts – Side A (release date: March 28) and Side B (to be released in Summer 2025), the single seamlessly balances the spiky, angular verses – that hearken the jazzy R&B vibe of Amy Winehouse – with Marzec’s warm gruff vocals alongside dreamy, reflective choruses and is his most refined and confident work yet. It marks the first release from Swift Half Records, the newly established London-based label that has signed Marzec.
Written during a summer retreat in the woods, “I Can’t Get You Out of My Mind” explores the emotional turbulence of a breakup, opening with a captivating blend of swirling synth arpeggios, before dropping into a captivating groove that fuses funk, soul, and jazz. “We set up a makeshift studio in the woods—a marquee with speakers, a drum machine, and a fire pit. It was raw, intimate, and incredibly inspiring,” recalls Marzec. Inspired by standout tracks from Amy Winehouse’s Back To Black and Arctic Monkeys’ AM,Marzec’s gravelly vocals and sharp songwriting touch on the emotional complexities of loss and regret, guiding listeners through a soundscape of indecision and longing.
If you are looking for your next favorite song , look no further than “I Can’t Get You Out Of My Mind “ from Luke Marzec. It is absolutely amazingly brilliant.

We recently had the privilege and honor of checking out the amazing new single #Vote (RockThe Vote) via Rum Bar Records from Girl With A Hawk .A Joan Hathaway directed video arrives October 9th . You can listen to #Vote (Rock The Boat) on Spotify Here and on Apple Music Here
We have always said that great bands can play any style of music. Girl With A Hawk is without question a great band and while they normally bring the rock, they have brilliantly delivered an absolute folk/Americana gem with their magnificent new single #Vote (Rock The Vote)
The message of getting out and voting is without a doubt, one of great importance . Linda Viens delivers a powerful and inspiring vocal performance that is coupled with guest collaborator Jim Fitting of Treat Her Right and Session Americana who gives the track a little extra soul .
The track was first penned by the veteran Boston musician and songwriter 20 years ago when George W. Bush was running for reelection against Massachusetts’ own John Kerry. Now, two decades later, with the Democratic ticket of Kamala Harris and Tim Walz setting their sights on the White House, Viens brought the bones of the track to her Girl with a Hawk bandmates to resurrect its sound and sentiment for what’s shaping up to be the most important election in our lifetimes.
Not since the Civil War has preserving our democracy been so crucially dependent on the American people being active, and voting, as it is right now,”Viens says. “We have to fight as hard as we can for the Harris/Walz ticket, and I hope the song inspires people to recognize the power they hold to affect change and move our country forward. That said, I believe in democracy, and if a candidate I don’t like wins an election fair and square, then the people have spoken.”
In the song, the band is mindful to not be preachy or persuasive in convincing a person to vote one way or another. They just want to get every American man, woman, and person to the voting booth on Election Day.
“The lyrics of ‘#VOTE’ retain a kind of neutrality,” she adds, “in that ‘sides’ are not taken, there is no reference to ‘right’ or ‘left’. But we hope the video underscores the political and cultural ethos inherent in the lyrics in a more direct way; emphasizing the ideas of liberty, justice and freedom for all. We also hope that the video brings a smile, and reflects a collective faith in a world that is more diverse, inclusive, and ultimately joyful, because people are free to choose who they want to be and how they want to live. My work has always been about creating loving and supportive communities, where we lift each other up, think and act for the common good, and lend a helping hand. For me there is no greater way to bring humans together than through the power of music!”
In addition to the enlisting of Fitting on harmonica, “#Vote (Rock The Boat)” brings Girl with a Hawk together in a new capacity and configuration, with Viens on lead vocals, guitar, and backing vocals; Daniel Coughlin on slide guitar and backing vocals; and Richard Lamphear, Dan Bernfeld, and Nancy Delaney all contributing backingvocals, taking a breather from their usual efforts on keyboards, bass, and drums, respectively. The track was co-produced by Lamphear and Viens.
Girl with a Hawk perform acoustically at a Harris/Walz fundraiser at Crystal Ballroom in Somerville on October 10.
Music is a very powerful medium and it is also the perfect medium to get out the importance of voting. Girl With A Hawk beautifully does their part with #Vote (Rock The Vote)
We recently had the remarkable opportunity to check out the new single “Songbird” from Boston rock band Derek Smith And The Cosmic Vultures. You can listen to “Songbird” on Spotify Here and on Apple Music Here

Every song that we get from Derek Smith And The Cosmic Vultures always seems to top the last one . We don’t how they do it but it is a truly magnificent feat. “Songbird” is no exception. DerekAnd The Cosmic Vultures have really created magic with “Songbird”
What is really so freaking cool about “Songbird is that the song is a true treasure trove of melodic wonderment. We hear some jam band elements, some 90’s Alt, county and as with every Derek Smith And The Cosmic Vultures tune there is always the perfect dose of good old rock and roll.

‘Songbird’ is about people,” Smith says. “We sing the same song. We follow similar patterns to each other. We have secrets, ideas, fears. We all eat, sleep, breathe, lie to ourselves, cry, laugh. We all question things. At least the smart ones do. And we are all going to walk that mile. That one last stroll to whatever our ultimate finale is supposed to be, or what we force it to be. Is it a rebirth? Is it a final resting place? We don’t know. So we make up a fantasy of what it could be.”
The new single is a compass for compassion; it’s a way forward, through the highs and lows of life, softening the twists and turns and highlighting the good while snuffing out the bad. It’s a song rooted in 2024, but its sound rings out as timeless as echoes of ‘70s AM radio gold canvas a yearning spectrum that soars through the songs that shaped us before touching down in the modern day.
“We should never stop squinting our eyes at life,” he adds. “We need to keep discovering and keep wondering. But we need to laugh on the way to the finish line. Because life is the perfect blend of ugliness and beauty.”
“Songbird” was mixed at Berlin Audio Productions by Erik von Geldern and Don Schweihofer; mastered by David Locke; and engineered by von Geldern, Schweihofer, and Jon Chesbro, with Rob Countie on as engineering assistant. I think every couple has had those moments.”

the B-side (“the Unknown“), Wagner says, “‘The Unknown’ is a song about realizing how fleeting time can be. “Strings” from Michelle Forziati, caught our attention right from the start . We love the unique R&B / Alt sound on “Strings” it is a refreshing change of pace that is definitely needed in today’s musical landscape.
Melodically, “Strings” is a mesmerizing melody that Forziati, compliments with a flawless vocal performance.
“Strings” , is the follow-up to April’s “Stranger,” which found the multihyphenate creative – a former ballroom dance instructor who also played the role of Jill Hurley in the 2017 Jake Gyllenhaal-leading biographical drama film Stronger, about Jeff Bauman’s recovery in the aftermath of the Boston Marathon bombing – taking her musical output to new, ambitious heights.
When asked about asked “Strings”, Forziati shared,
“I absolutely love guitars, they just speak to every part of me,”Forziati says. “The sounds they create are mesmerizing and almost put me in a trance. ‘Strings’ is about loving the sound of a guitar so much that the person playing it captivates me and I fall in love. However, it’s manipulative because the performer knows it and he abuses that love.”
The track also features guitar by Michael Strakus and bass by Steve Constantino, two players known in the Boston music scene for their work in Derek Smith and the CosmicVultures. “Strings”, was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Monty Dale at GraybeardRecording
Michelle Forziati has a style and sound that is impossible to ignore, her refreshing and soulful approach on “Strings” is pure musical perfection.

“I wrote ‘Expectations’ when I was feeling torn with the relationship I was in at the time,” she says. “I kept feeling so much pressure from both myself and the people around me. This song is my inner monologue as I try to figure out what my expectations are for us while navigating this relationship.”

“Spare Me” is the first single from Ella’s upcoming debut EP, due out later this year.
Built on Ella’s effortlessly commanding vocals, “Spare Me” has an intoxicating raw energy that lures you in. The single weaves a sonic tapestry of pop, soul, jazz, and rock influences in a way that manages to feel both finely-tuned and improvisational.
I wrote this song in one sitting and never changed anything about it. It feels like the most genuine song I’ve ever written,” Ella says. “It’s a sad and bittersweet song about loving someone who is emotionally unavailable, and letting myself have feelings for someone and then thinking… ‘was it worth it? Would it have been better to have never loved to spare myself the inconvenience?’ But, it’s also ultimately about realizing that you don’t have to ‘Spare Me.'”
Taking influence from pop, soul, jazz and rock, Ella’s songs showcase her fondness for experimentation and innovation. She got her start performing in a variety of fusion bands in Boston and New York before branching out with her own solo project in 2022. She’s spent the last few years developing her sound and fine-tuning her live show with performances around New York City.
“Spare Me” is an absolute gem. Ella Galvin, has woven a stunningly brilliant soulful track that is simply breathtaking. We could not get enough.
On her upcoming EP, Ella masterfully combines her genre-blending musical influences with diaristic storytelling that captures the charm, discomfort, and introspection of being a young, queer woman in today’s world. With growing buzz and plenty of music in the pipeline, Ella Galvin is an artist you’re going to want to keep an eye on in 2024.

“We Came To Rock”, is the title track to the soundtrack of They Came To Rock, Executive Producer Norty Cohen’s immersive rock opera about an alien invasion that first debuted in Nashville three years ago, detailing a story about extraterrestrials coming to Earth – which they call The VinylFrontier – in search of the type of music heard through static and noise on their radio. Who are they, and what do they want?
“We Came To Rock “ is an absolute blast. We fell instantly for the vibe and sound of this gem of a track.
Ready to rock out, the aliens have now landed close to home, as the pair of longtime Boston music scene veterans – known for work that spans decades: Baglio first in rock scene pioneers The Stompers; Whitfield dominating stages across New England fronting TheSavages – come together for a fiery and attention-grabbing single that sets a loud tone for the 10-song, eight interlude soundtrack.
“The term rock opera has come to mean different things to anyone’s interpretation,” Baglio says. “There is a lyrical and musical line that follows through the record. Some fantasy, some fact. It is a musical speed rocket trip and the seat belt sign is off!”
“They Came To Rock” is the third single from the forthcoming record, following last fall’s Jen D’Angora-led “Something Went Down” – about the most famous UFO event in England’s history, taking places at Rendlesham Forest on Christmas 1980 – and 2022’s “Space Cadette,” which received heavy airplay and attention on Little Steven’s Underground Garage on SiriusXM, about Betty and Barney Hill’s 1961 encounter of a UFO on a deserted highway in New Hampshire.
Written and produced by Baglio, who also performs guitar, mellotron, glockenspiel, and backing vocals, “They Came To Rock” features Samantha Goddess on vocals; Brad Hallen on bass; Kevin Rapillo on drums and percussion; Tom West on piano; Henley Douglas Jr. on baritone sax; and David Bryce on theremin. But it’s Whitfield who helps take it across the galaxy and back again, hurling through his vocals like a man possessed.
