Oswald Slain Deliver Absolutely Gorgeous New Single, “Bucky”

We recently had the distinct privilege to check out the new single, “Bucky”, from Bristol (UK) rock group Oswald Slain . “Bucky”, is the title track to their upcoming debut album, which we be released on October 24th . You can listen to “Bucky” on Spotify Here and on Apple Music Here

Sometimes you hear a song and are immediately drawn to its beauty. This definitely the case with the new single, “Bucky” from Oswald Slain. The song is a splendidly lush melody that we simply could not get enough of.

Discussing what they hoped to achieve with the single, Charlie Fitzgerald explains, “‘Bucky’ is the title track of the album. It ties the record together as an overall expression. It’s a washed out 90’s anthem of nostalgia and escapism; A few minutes away from the constant bombardment of modern day life. When people’s favourite VHS tapes were worn out of love and connection came softer and slower than it does now. It’s a lazy attempt at a cheap holiday. A fuck it all off, delete the lot and be free for a bit kind of tune. Something to bring people together in the moment.”

Formerly known as Little Thief, Oswald Slain’s sound is a rich tapestry woven from the threads of classic Americana, echoing the timeless vibes of Neil Young and The Band, whilst infusing it with the gritty, energetic rock essence familiar from their previous works. Anchored by the driving rhythms and fuzzy guitars, their music offers both reflective depth and an irresistible groove, promising music that resonates with both heart and soul.

What is refreshing about Oswald Slain, is that they have an authentic sound and vibe that they never stray from they always stay true to themselves and the music .

Reflecting on the creation of the album, Fitzgerald says: “Making this record was a massive turning point in our lives. After being a bit unsure of where things were headed and what we were doing, the days spent recording these song in our little studio were the moments of clarity we needed to get the ball rolling with something new and creatively exciting.

We are absolutely loving the new single, “Bucky” and we can’t wait for the debut album.

The sole purpose of doing The Whole Kameese, is to expose the world to amazing music. We feel that Bristol’s (UK) alt-indie quartet Adult Leisure, is a prime example of band that the world needs to know about.

We have been absolutely smitten with Adult Leisure and now that we finally have the opportunity to check out their debut studio album, “The Things We Don’t Know Yet, it feels like Christmas morning.

You listen to “Things We Don’t Know Yet” Here

Their debut, 10 track studio album was recorded a and mixed with long-term producer Ollie Searle at Humm Studios and mastered by the acclaimed John Webber (David Bowie, Duran Duran, Coach Party). ‘The Things You Don’t Know Yet’ is a collection of songs about people, love, loss and the feelings and experiences we carry through life. Each track is instantly memorable, delivering dancefloor energy, warm harmonies, vibrant synths, driving basslines, lush guitars, crisp arrangements and heart-on-sleeve lyrics. The result is 10 songs that walk the edge of contradiction, it’s ‘happy music for sad people’.

On the creation of the album, drummer Nathan Searle says: “‘ Things You Don’t Know Yet’ is our way of saying ‘this is who we are’. We’ve lived through different moments, felt the same weight. We each have our own voice, but this album speaks as one. It’s not just a collection of ideas; It’s a reflection of where we’ve been as friends, as musicians, and as people trying to make sense of things. It’s about the stuff we carry, the things we hide, and the moments we hold onto. Writing these songs helped us feel more connected to each other. Now we hope they do the same for you, we hope you find something here that feels like it was meant just for you. They were ours for a long time. Now they’re yours.”

As soon as we heard the melody on the opening track, “Hold Me Close (Before You Go)” we knew were in for an absolutely extraordinary musical experience. ( We were right) One of the many stand out track, is “Kids Like Us “ , stellar and addictive vocals make this one a can’t miss.

Every song on “The Things You Don’t Know Yet”, are gold star worthy . We found ourselves instantly captivated. The one song that absolutely took our breath away , is the beautifully haunting track , “The River” we got chills for days ( absolutely brilliant)

With standout performances across the UK, The Netherlands, Paris, Sweden and Norway, Adult Leisure have earned a reputation for their memorable, leave it all on the stage live show, and their debut album tour is going to be no different. Their debut, 10 track studio album was recorded and mixed with long-term producer Ollie Searle at Humm Studios and mastered by the acclaimed John Webber (David Bowie, Duran Duran, Coach Party). ‘The Things You Don’t Know Yet’ is a collection of songs about people, love, loss and the feelings and experiences we carry through life. The result is 10 songs that walk the edge of contradiction, its ‘happy music for sad people’.

The album’s final single ‘Boy Grows Old’ , out today ( September 5th 2025) , their second collaboration with The 1975 / Sam Fender Saxophonist John Waugh.

Discussing the single, guitarist David Woolford explains: “Our music often carries a sense of nostalgia, usually viewed through the lens of rose-tinted glasses. While some of our songs romanticise the past, ‘Boy Grows Old’ doesn’t. The lyrics reflect our genuine experiences of youth and the difficulties that accompany growing older. Young people often face immense pressure, and this can be from their families. As we mature, we come to realise that our parents and guardians are not infallible; they are human too. They make mistakes, can sometimes be unkind, and are also finding their own way. This song is a snapshot of childhood, with the luxury of hindsight. It’s a heartfelt message to our younger selves, recognising we can’t change the past but, we can reflect on it and learn from our experiences.”

Adult Leisure, is one of those special bands that you can’t help but wrap your whole music loving heart around. So don’t be bashful and fall in love with the musical goodness of Adult Leisure.

Oswald Slain Deliver One Sweet Groove With Latest Single, “Have You Got What You Came Here For?”

We recently had the amazing opportunity to check out the glorious new single, “Have You Got What You Came Here For?”, from Bristol (UK) rock group Oswald Slain. You can listen to “Have You Got What You Came Here For?” Here

Oswald Slain, have unleashed an all time groove with “Have You Got What You Came Here For ? “ and the world is a better place because of it.

“Have You Got What You Came Here For ?” will be epically featured on their upcoming debut album ‘BUCKY’, arriving on October 24th 2025.

Born from the creative cocoon of their home studio, Oswald Slain is a testament to both personal growth and musical evolution, their music reflecting a period of deep introspection and growth for the band. Having reconciled with the chaos of youth and the trials of aging, lyricist Fitz channels these experiences into sincere, humorous, evocative songwriting alongside the timeless swagger of old retro rock records.

Produced in-house by Ryan Rogers (Mumble Tide) and the band themselves in their DIY home studio and mastered by Jason Mitchell at Loud Mastering (PJ Harvey, XTC, Big Special),Have You Got What You Came Here For?’ is a fun, frenetic and tongue-in-cheek number that serves as a snap shot of the band’s time touring through the French Alps.

On the single, vocalist and lyricist Charlie Fitzgerald says: “Rhii and I spent a couple of months playing in the bars around the French Alps as a little rocky two-piece. It was really fun. Everyone was always super drunk and it was pretty full on. The crowd just wanted to sing along and dance after a day skiing on the mountain so we would play songs people knew and never really played any original stuff. The movie ‘Saltburn’ had just come out and ‘Murder On The Dance Floor’ by Sophie Ellis Bextor was having a major resurgence. So we played a version of that quite a lot. I wrote the lyrics to ‘Have You Got What You Came Here For?’  in the morning after a particularly fun night playing at Cavern bar in Morzine. The track came alive in the studio with Ryan laying down all the incredible bass bits and Rhii just slaying that drum part. It’s angsty, rebellious and one of our favourites to play live. It has a stupidly long title and some pretty risqué lyrics. It’s definitely the terrier on the upcoming album and stands out from the crowd…. Hopefully in a good way.”

Your mission should you choose to accept it….. Go find your favorite listening spot and get lost in the melodic grandeur of “Have You Got What You Came Here For”

We recently had the extraordinary honor and privilege to check out the new single, “The Rules”, from Bristol’s (UK) alt-indie quartet Adult Leisure . You can listen to “The Rules” Here

Following standout shows at VestRock in The Netherlands and Paris’ renowned Supersonic Festival, we find Adult Leisure, doing what they do best…… Releasing a mesmerizing new single , “The Rules” that is so melodically rich and perfect that it is literally taking our breath away.

Seriously, how can you listen to “The Rules, from Adult Leisure, and not want to dance the day away while singing along ? ( We know it is physically impossible)

“The Rules”, is the next single to be taken from band’s debut album ‘The Things You Don’t Know Yet’, arriving on October 3rd 2025.

The track follows ‘See Her’, May’s collaboration with longtime The 1975 / Sam Fender collaborator John Waugh, and the album’s previous singles ‘Dancing Don’t Feel Right’, ‘Kiss Me Like You Miss Herand ‘Borderline’ which saw support from BBC Radio 6’s Indie Forever show, The Line Of Best Fit, Pop Journal, Fresh on the Net and multiple Spotify editorial playlists with ‘Borderline’ being used to open an E4 Made In Chelsea episode, their first national TV sync placement.

The Ruleswas recorded and mixed with Ollie Searle at Humm Studios and mastered by John Webber (David Bowie, Duran Duran, Coach Party) and sees guest vocals from Jess Chivers. The song pulls you in from the very first note, expertly mixing rich, vibrant synths, lush guitar lines, driving rhythms and anguished vocals to deliver the perfect 80’s movie soundtrack, once again showing that this is a band that exists completely outside of time.

On the creation of the single, vocalist and lyricist Neil Scott explains, “Starting off life via an ‘Islands in the Stream’-esque voice-note sent in the band WhatsApp from Dave back in December of 2023, our new single ‘The Rules’ is exactly the pop-soaked song Dolly Parton would be losing her mind at. We were listening to lots of Blossoms at the time and wanted to write a song from both sides of a relationship on the verge of breaking down. Fast forward to earlier this year, when we were lucky enough to work with the talented Jess Chivers who provided backing vocals on the track, the song and emotions we wanted to capture were truly brought to life. This is our take on the 70s golden era of pop duets.”

Every time we hear the sweet sounds of Adult Leisure , we are reminded why we love music so much. “The Rules” , is about to quickly become your favorite song , you just don’t know it yet .

A 12 date headline album tour has been announced, commencing at London’s Sebright Arms and ending at Liverpool’s Kazimier Stockroom including renowned venues such as Manchester’s Night & Day Cafe, and Bristol’s Thekla, their biggest hometown headline to date, tickets are on sale now and available Here

Spin Class Serve Up An Extraordinary Collection Of Songs, With Latest EP, “Dinner At Derek’s

We recently had the extreme privilege to check out the new EP, “Dinner At Derek’s”, from Bristol-based (UK) rock four-piece Spin Class. You can listen to the flawless “Dinner At Derek’s on Spotify Here, Apple Music Here

We hope you have a hearty appetite for mind bending, bone shaking , flawless rock. Because, that is exactly what you are going to get with the spectacular new EP, “Dinner At Derek’s “ from Spin Class.

Formed in 2023, Spin Class’ sound combines proggy riffs and hook-heavy melodies baked in a grunge sprinkled, desert rock confection. Their songs touch on the topic of the mind’s eye, breathing life into an ‘ADHD-fuelled, visually stimulating riff machine’.

Spin Class, released their debut six-track EPWednesday’, in December 2024. We got our first taste of Spin Class, with their delicious single, “Bagel Bagel Bagel” back in April and we have been obsessed ever since.

With the EP, the band wanted to capture the frenetic energy of their live show, opting to record ‘Dinner at Derek’s’ live in its entirety with Josh Gallop (Krooked Tongue, Phoxjaw, Sergeant Thunderhoof) at Stage 2 Studios in Bath. The result is a five-track feverishly moreish adventure through the band’s inner experiences of mental health, intrusive thoughts and addiction.

On the creation of the EP, vocalist Louis Slater says, “Dinner at Derek’s is a 12 minute, 5 course meal that will leave you satiated; Your tastebuds tingling from our next batch of juicy tunes! This EP feels like a new era of Spin Class. We’ve spent a year crafting our tone, writing together all in the same city this time, and playing live. Dinner at Derek’s promises a menu of shorter, yet fuller tunes, chock full of chops and changes, riffs to make your belly rumble and melodies you’ll find yourself singing along to, without even realising. We’ve approached this body of music with feeling rather than thinking, which comes across, especially in the performance as the whole EP was recorded live. This has been a massive fete for us but one we loved and will most likely be our process moving forward. We are very proud of this EP and can’t wait for you to get your fill with Dinner at Derek’s!

On their decision to record live the band explain, “Bands like Soundgarden and Led Zeppelin and how they recorded tracks were a heavy influence for us in the creation of this EP. This live approach has been something we’ve never done before but felt very natural. We’re a live band first at the end of the day, and capturing that raw energy in the production was essential. The result bounces between overstimulated punk intensity with each violent transition amplifying the live feel we’ve wanted to capture at gigs and rehearsals

Every song , feels like a master class in what the perfect rock song should sound like. Flawless vocals , carefully woven between otherworldly melodies. “Dinner At Derek’s “ from Spin Class , is magnificent.

We effortlessly jammed out to every track , However, the one track that stood out to us was the closing track, “Cake” . The song is about intrusive thoughts and feelings, lyrically told through the point of view of those feelings once they’ve become the unwelcome voice inside your head.

the track, Slater says: “Cake for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and more cake for dessert! This track is a different one for us; it’s straighter, more to the point and has a pop-py flair. It’s fast paced and in your face, intended to hook you in and leave you wanting more. The acorn that baked the cake was pooped out by our very own Sonny Gazzard. We then brought it to the rehearsal room and it formed almost as quickly as its 2:21 run time.

“Lyrically, the perspective comes from looking through the eyes of unwelcome feelings. Ones that sink their teeth into you and don’t let go no matter how hard you try to shake them off. In ‘Cake’, those feelings are the song’s protagonist.”

Spin Class, delivers 12 minutes of splendid rock perfection on “Dinner At Derek’s”

Oswald Slain Makes Our Day By Revealing New Single ‘Firing Line’ And Announce Debut Album ‘BUCKY’

There is nothing we love more than good news.. And Bristol (UK) based rock group, Oswald Slain, is releasing their new single, “Firing Line”, today ( July 11th) . You can listen to the glorious new single , “Firing Line”, on Spotify Here, Apple Music Here

You can also check out the lyric video for “Firing Line” below

In addition to the new single, Oswald Slain, is also announcing upcoming debut album, “BUCKY” due for release October 24th 2025.

All of this exciting news, comes on the heels of April’s debut EP ‘KISS ME ON THE MOUTH’,

    GLK Media

We here at The Whole Kameese, freaking loved April’s debut, five-track EP ‘KISS ME ON THE MOUTH’  and we were not alone as it was celebrated by the likes of Asbo Magazine, RTE, Fame Magazine, KUTX, Sirius XM, Rough Trade’s ‘Counter Culture’, Ones To Watch and Apple editorial’s ‘New In Rock’.

Produced in-house by Ryan Rogers (Mumble Tide) and the band themselves in their DIY home studio and mastered by Jason Mitchell at Loud Mastering (PJ Harvey, XTC, Big Special), ‘Firing Line’ is a bustling concoction of sleazy rhythms, blues-tinged guitar riffs,  impeccable percussion and lush harmonies that sees Oswald Slain at their most earnest, lyrically exploring the emotional boundaries of loving someone.

On the single, vocalist and lyricist Charlie Fitzgerald says: “It’s a Ride or Die, deeply romantic tune about supporting and loving someone during their roughest moments. It’s one of our absolute favourite songs off the upcoming album. It was massively satisfying to record and really grounding to write the lyrics. We had been listening to lots of Weezer and Pixies when we recorded Firing Line so that was a huge influence on the recording for sure.

We simply cannot wait for the upcoming debut eight track album, “BUCKY”

Discussing the creation of the album, Fitzgerald says: “Making this record was a massive turning point in our lives. After being a bit unsure of where things were headed and what we were doing, the days spent recording these songs in our little studio were the moments of clarity we needed to get the ball rolling with something new and creatively exciting.

BUCKY is a short eight track album that captures our moments of surrender, growth and hope within a chaotic and cluttered lifestyle. We made the record pretty quickly, writing songs in the morning then recording them in the afternoon, for the most part pretty live using a cheap dynamic mic on the vocals with no separation from the drums. We weren’t seeking perfection but it felt good not to be too precious about anything. We were living with Ryan Rogers at the time who took a lead role in producing it and added some impeccable enthusiasm which was exactly what we needed. It was nice to make something that felt honest, fun and vulnerable, and we can’t wait to get it out into the world.

Oswald Slain has an aura and coolness about them that puts the band in a class all their own . “Firing Line” is the song you needed in your life but you didn’t know it till you heard the first amazing chord. We are definitely putting “Firing Line”, on repeat as we anxiously wait for “BUCKY”

Krooked Tongue Release Radiant New Single, “You Don’t Need A Sun Tan “

We were beyond excited to check out the killer new single, “You Don’t Need A Sun Tan”, from Bristol (UK) alt-rock trio Krooked Tongue. You can listen to “You Don’t Need A Sun Tan”Here. “You Don’t Need A Sun Tan is available today , ( June 20th) The alt rock gem is taken from their debut album , out early next year.

Recorded and produced with long-time producer Josh Gallop (Sergeant Thunderhoof, Mother Vulture, Phoxjaw) at Stage 2 Studios in BathYou Don’t Need A Sun Tan’ delivers an addictive dose of nostalgia, blending driving fuzz-fueled guitar lines, explosive drums and infectious melodies, urging listeners to get out from under the weight of what’s familiar and discover the unknown.

Krooked Tongue, has a robust, electrifying and thunderous sound, that shines brightly on “You Don’t Need A Sun Tan” We really enjoyed the opening to the track as it has a “stick in your soul “ feel that we just couldn’t shake .

On the singles lyrical inspirations vocalist and lyricist Oli Rainsford states, The idea behind ‘You Don’t Need A Sun Tan’ came about after visiting the town I grew up in one summer weekend. Meeting up with your old mates, getting leathered at the pub, and realising that everything is almost exactly how it was when you left. Sure, there’s a new wave of people, the next generation of Wetherspoons patriots, but nothing really changes and it’s a double edged sword. It’s a reminder of why you left to begin with, to see the world, get out of the bubble and head to the city. But there’s also a sense of belonging, being back with ‘your’ people. A certain comfortability that comes with heading back to the old stomping ground. It’s an ode to that message, not one that’s positive or negative, just merely an observation. I think ‘Sun Tan’ also acts as a word of encouragement for people to get out from under the weight of what they know, and discover what they don’t know yet.”

Krooked Tongue, has delivered another absolute smash with , “You Don’t Need A Sun Tan “ that you can’t miss.

Chasing Kites Have Crafted An Absolutely Sparkling Dream -Pop Gem With New Single “Luna”

We recently had the delightful opportunity to check out the new single, “Luna”, from Bristol Indie-Dreampop quartet Chasing Kites. You can listen to “Luna” Here

Produced by Sam Winfield at Studio 91 (Bring Me The Horizon, Amber Run), ‘Luna’ unfurls a rich, atmospheric soundscape of electronics, swirling shoegaze influenced guitar work and tight bass over the driving drums. Led by tender, heartfelt vocals the track is given a central focal point for the musicality to dance around. As the track reaches the chorus, it bursts into an anthemic main melody, pulling the track away from the shoegaze feel of the verse into a more pointed indie feel.

Talking about the track, vocalist Matt Donnelly explains:
“‘Luna’ is the retelling of a dream I had about the end of the world. Although this apocalyptic scenario is inevitably quite crucial, the track is more centred around the protagonist falling in love, overshadowing everything else that is going on. It’s a love letter to the all-consuming power of infatuation.”

Chasing Kites, are eloquently soaring to new heights with their absolutely mystical new single, “Luna” We were literally hanging on every note and lyric .

“Luna” from Chasing Kites, is a song that will stay with you long after the music has ended.

We recently had the splendid opportunity, to check out the new single, “See Her”, from Bristol’s alt-indie four-piece Adult Leisureout today, featuring guest saxophone from long-time The 1975 / Sam Fender collaborator. John Waugh. You can listen to “See Her” on Spotify Here, Apple Music, Here and Amazon Music Here

In addition to the new single, “See Her”, Adult Leisure, is proud to announce, that their debut album ‘The Things You Don’t Know Yet’ will be released on October 3rd 2025.

The new track follows February’s celebrated release ‘Dancing Don’t Feel Right’, championed by The Line of Best Fit, Pop Journal and Ones To Watch. The album’s previous singles ‘Kiss Me Like You Miss Her’ and ‘Borderline’ saw support from BBC Radio 6’s Indie Forever show, The Line Of Best Fit, Fresh on the Net and multiple Spotify editorial playlists with ‘Borderline’ being used to open an E4 Made In Chelsea episode, their first national TV sync placement

See Her’, recorded and mixed with Ollie Searle at Humm Studios and mastered by John Webber (David Bowie, Duran Duran, Coach Party) is a blink-and-you’ll-miss it pocket rocket of vibrant energy. Through nostalgia-laden melodies and singalong choruses that Adult Leisure are fast becoming known for, ‘See Her’ offers a sarcastic take on the breakdown of a relationship and the biting realisation that you’re happier now that it’s over.

As soon as we heard the opening for “See Her” from the mighty Adult Leisure, we knew we were in for an incredible, irresistible musical experience ( We were right!) Adult Leisure, always brings boundless amounts of energy but they bring an extra jolt on “See Her “ and it’s glorious.

On the single’s lyrical inspirations, vocalist and lyricist Neil Scott explains, “We wrote ‘See Her’ towards the end of 2023. In its full form, almost two years later, it’s developed into a song unapologetically soaked in pop, yet true to who we are and the stories we want to tell. Lyrically, ‘See Her’ offers a sarcastic take on the breakdown of a relationship. Far from doom and gloom or sorrow, it’s about that feeling you get when you realise just how much better off you are now that it’s over.

The song features the incredible John Waugh (The 1975, Sam Fender) on saxophone. When we found out that he was interested in joining the project, we were over the moon – he adds the perfect bit of spice this tune has been waiting for since its inception. This song means everything to us, and we cannot wait for people to hear it and sing their lungs out to it.”

We have been absolutely in love with Adult Leisure , from the first time we heard them. We can’t for the rest of the world to fall madly in love with them ( It’s Gonna Happen!)

Our Nameless Boy Release Remarkable New Single & Video – “Dress Rehearsal “

We recently had the glorious opportunity, to check out the brand new single and video for “Dress Rehearsal” , from Bristol (UK) , based alt rock / emo band, Our Nameless Boy . You can check out “Dress Rehearsal “ Here You can watch the video for “Dress Rehearsal” below

We were instantly engulfed by the melodic wonderment of “Dress Rehearsal“, from Our Nameless Boy

Dress Rehearsal’ sees Our Nameless Boy return to the lyrical themes of introspection and self-analysis which made 2021’s ‘Colour From The Doves’ so unique. Exploring further the deep complexity of the human condition, vocalist Iain Gorrie delves into his learnings for a four-and-a-half minute crescendo of delicate, internally-directed frustration and understanding

On the lyrical content of ‘Dress Rehearsal’, Gorrie says ‘[the track] touches on the idea of reflecting upon a conversation or encounter and wishing you’d done or said something differently. My wife’s ability to think and process new information, as well as her emotions, and ultimately speak her mind with clarity and confidence in the moment is something I envy and try my best to emulate. More often than not though, I feel I need time to process and adequately verbalise whatever instincts I have, and that can be frustrating for me, and perhaps the people I’m with. The ‘Dress Rehearsal’ in question then is the imagining of how a situation could go – getting in the way of being wholly present in that situation.’

“Dress Rehearsal”, is a brilliant example of how when used correctly, the melodic and sonic elements of a song can add a spectacular new dimension to a song , this is on full display with “Dress Rehearsal “ , from Our Nameless Boy.

To celebrate the release of ‘Dress Rehearsal’,Our Nameless Boy will be touring the UK this May/June.

    Our Nameless Boy are:

    Ian Gorrie (Guitar/Vocals)

    Ewan Simpson (Lead Guitar/Vocals)

Right from the first sonically perfect note on “Bagel Bagel Bagel, we were absolutely mesmerized by the rock and roll goodness of Spin Class .

Formed in 2023, Spin Class’ sound combines proggy riffs and hook-heavy melodies, with some grunge and desert rock thrown in for good measure.

With Bagel Bagel Bagel’, the band wanted to capture the frenetic energy of their live show, opting to record the track live in its entirety with Josh Gallop (Krooked Tongue, Phoxjaw, Sergeant Thunderhoof) at Stage 2 Studios in Bath.

On the single’s lyrical inspirations, lyricist and vocalist Louis Slater says, Do you ever feel like a bagel? A soft, round but delicious outside with a hole in the middle where all the bits should be? Now times that by three and you get Bagel Bagel Bagel. The majority of our lyrical inspirations are a retelling of our inner experiences and in this belter it’s paired with humour with lines like ‘ain’t the mix that makes the bread, hole in the bagel.’ This song is the perfect way to start the next chapter of Spin Class. It’s punchy and energetic with a layer of frustration, yet it’s a song that’s designed to light you up.”

On their decision to record live the band explain, For this track we wanted to write an intense, in your face punk song and go in the live-recorded direction, bands like Soundgarden and Led Zeppelin and how they recorded tracks being a heavy influence for us. This approach has been something we’ve never done before but felt very natural. We’re a live band first at the end of the day, and capturing that raw energy in production was essential. The result bounces between overstimulated punk intensity with each violent transition amplifying the live feel we’ve wanted to capture at gigs and rehearsals.”

Sometimes, bands decide to hold back and deliver sound that is too polished, while there is nothing wrong with a high quality recording, you can fake the raw frantic energy of a rock and roll band . Hundreds of bands strive to bottle their live sound on a studio recording. Spin Class , not only successfully deliver an amazing studio track with magnificent live energy with “Bagel Bagel Bagel” …. They do it with absolute brilliance.

Krooked Tongue Are Once Again In Full Bloom, With Latest Single “Marigold”

From the moment we hit “Play”, on the new single, “Marigold” from Bristol (UK) rock trio Krooked Tongue, we knew we were listening to what we believe to be the future of rock music. You can listen to “Marigold” Here

Recorded and produced with long-time producer Josh Gallop at Stage 2 Studios in BathMarigold‘ highlights the sophisticated, multidimensional capabilities of Krooked Tongue’s songwriting. A slight departure from the band’s usual gritty, anthemic rock, the track immediately pulls at the heart strings, lyrically exploring the ‘what could have been’s’.

Describing the single, vocalist and lyricist Oli Rainsford states, “‘Marigold’ is a love letter to the ‘what might’ve been’. Do you ever meet someone in passing and wonder where their life is going to end up? What struggles they might have, what their family is like, what they do in their spare time. I’ve always liked to people watch; you can defer so much from just a few seconds of looking at someone, and yet have no idea at all on how valid your assumptions are. Most of the time when we interact with strangers, it never gets a second thought. Maybe a subtle glance, or a smile here and there but mostly it’s a cold and disconnected endeavour. But then there’s those moments where you have instant chemistry with someone, and for a minute it’s electric; the room stops spinning and the chaos fades away. And then you never see that person again. Who knows where a split decision could’ve taken you. ‘Marigold’ is THAT electricity.

It’s a song that tries its best to put into words the love that lies dormant in us, waiting for someone to break open the safety glass. Although I think it’s less of a ‘love at first sight’ cliche and more of a homage to missed opportunities. ‘Marigold’ is a fascination with the high speed pace of everyday life, and how we ebb and flow into each other’s periphery…like atoms. Destined to live separately or destined to veer from the main road and see where a chance will take us. Like a flower, that only blossoms when the time is right.”

Krooked Tongue, is one of those special bands that you want to keep to yourself but also want to share with the universe at the same time. We have a feeling that “Marigold” is going to rule the top of many playlists.

With interest in the band quickly growing, in addition to the announcement of the single, Krooked Tongue are very excited to announce that they’ve signed a publishing deal with Wipeout Music, and have very recently joined TRUST Artists’ live roster, and hope to continue to cement themselves as an emerging band to watch in the UK.

We have known for quite sometime how special Krooked Tongue are….. We can’t wait for the rest of the world to find out as well.

Oswald Slain Absolutely Slay With Incredible Debut EP, “Kiss Me On The Mouth”

We recently had the amazing opportunity to check out the debut EP, “Kiss Me On The Mouth”, from Bristol, UK rock band, Oswald Slain. You can listen to “Kiss Me On The Mouth” Here

Oswald Slain, have just right sound and vibe that could quite possibly save the world ( or at the very least make you have the best day ever) “Kiss Me On The Mouth” is about to be your new favorite EP, you just don’t know it yet .

Recored entirely from home in their DIY home studio and mastered by Jason Mitchell at Loud Mastering (PJ Harvey, XTC, Big Special), ‘KISS ME ON THE MOUTH’ reflects a period of introspection and growth for vocalist and lyricist Charlie Fitzgerald. Having reconciled with the chaos of youth and the trials of aging, Fitz channels these experiences into sincere, humorous, evocative songwriting alongside the timeless swagger of old retro rock records, lyrically exploring personal flaws, self-acceptance and the feelings of constant imposter syndrome.

Right from the start there is an ultra cool presence that flows freely throughout the EP.

The opening track, “Ugly” is a total gem. As we stated in our original review, “We love everything about , “UGLY”, from Oswald Slain, we found ourselves singing along instantly. Oswald Slain, have a vibe and an energy that is impossible not to fall in love with”.

You can you check out the fantastic video for “Ugly” below

“Road Runner “ (aka, “Sean Paul”) is the most stunning 2 minute and 46 second dance party we have ever heard . Oswald Slain, have a beautiful habit of creating incredible jams , and “Road Runner “ is no exception.

Discussing the creation of the EP, vocalist and lyricist Charlie Fitzgerald says: We spent a couple of weeks in 2024 writing and recording loads of tunes. Every day I’d get up and write a couple of ideas and some lyrics, then we’d work together to orchestrate it, finishing the song together and tracking everything there and then. It was all pretty quick and it was a great way to make music because everything was pretty much written and recorded on the same day. We ended up with around 18 tunes. The EP was made up of all of the fun little bangers that we loved but couldn’t fit into what we wanted for a future album, which is a very exciting and different beast entirely. A lot of the EP lyric-wise comes from dealing with constant imposter syndrome and confidence loss. It’s important to go through change as a person but also nice to make it into a positive thing that can be fun and joyful. I was lucky enough to have people around me at the time who were keen to make this music and for that I’ll be forever grateful.”

The third track, on the EP, “Mystery Bag”, is a mesmerizing melody that has flawless vocals and a groove that you just can’t escape .

We were immediately attracted to the drum beat and percussive sounds of the title track, “Kiss Me On The Mouth” After listening to the track, we might have to add the title lyrical genius to Charlie Fitzgerald.

The closing track , “Baby Boy” has a real old school feel to it . We heard shades of Bob Dylan, on this track . We can neither confirm or deny that we have listened to this song a million times (freaking brilliant)

If your music loving soul, is aching for amazing music, look no further than the dazzling debut EP, “Kiss Me On The Mouth “ from the mighty Oswald Slain.

    GLK Media

Sean Paul’ is a track that exudes an effortlessly cool, feel-good swagger, singalong choruses and razor sharp lyrics which humorously highlight a series of personal failures for vocalist Charlie Fitzgerald.

Discussing the single Fitzgerald says, It’s a nostalgic confrontation of personal flaws and failures, dressed up in a pretty little surf smock and a happy-go-lucky pair of shiny loafers. I was trying to write a classic loser song but it ended up all fun and silly and brought a great sense of humour to something that can haunt me from time to time.”

Krooked Tongue Are Laser Focused On Latest Single, “Let ‘Em Loose”

We recently had the amazing opportunity to check out the new single, “Let Em Loose”, from Bristol,UK, rock trio Krooked Tongue

You can listen to “Let ‘Em Loose”, on Spotify Here, Apple Music Here, and on Amazon Here

The new single, “Let ‘Em Loose “, follows 2024’s ‘Nothing Ever Grows’ and ‘Ember Mile’, taken from a longer body of material, with further details to be announced in the coming months. Their previous singles saw support from Apple editorial’s ‘Breaking Hard Rock’, New Noise Magazine, CLOUT, Total Rock, Primordial Radio and Boogaloo Radio, and ‘Nothing Ever Grows’ was used throughout the Bivol vs Beterbiev boxing fight on DAZN Sports.

Krooked Tongue,(Oli Rainsford, vocals, bass, Dan Smith, guitar, vocals, Harry Pritchard, drums) have the amazing ability to take sounds and lyrics and construct songs that appeal to both the mind and soul , “Let ‘Em Loose” is not just a captivating song but it also serves as a powerful point for thought provoking discussion.

Recorded and produced with long-time producer Josh Gallop at Stage 2 Studios in Bath, the track uses playful phrasing, scathing sarcasm and sharp humour to cast a penetrating lens on the damaging toll technology is taking on real life relationships.

Describing the single, vocalist and lyricist Oli Rainsford states, Let ‘Em Loose’ is a song that parallels the technological age we found ourselves in today. We’re all so addicted to screen time that we forget how important it is for us to spend time with each other, really with each other. No distractions.

Let ‘Em Loose’ is a song that reminds us to be a little more present in a world where it seems like being tethered to a plug socket is the norm. Whilst you’re scrolling reels or finding yourself down Youtube rabbit holes all night, you’re missing your kids growing up, you’re missing out on your Grandad’s most compelling stories and you’re eating away at the dwindling hourglass of time. It’s harder now more than ever NOT to be sucked into the world of social media, but in the words of Eddie Abbew… ‘Wake the fuck up.’

Oli continues: The lyrics in the chorus draw inspiration from the Black Mirror episode ‘Metalhead’. I think the way in which technology is represented as these robotic minions hunting people in rural settings is quite a relevant visualisation of the message in ‘Let ‘Em Loose’. Especially now with a sudden push for AI to do everything that’s made us human. Maybe there’s a place for that somewhere, but it shouldn’t be used where it can fragment society more than it already is now. We need to regain our sense of importance. ‘Let ‘Em Loose’ is your warning.”

So drop whatever you have going on and get lost in the musical goodness that is “Let ‘Em Loose” from Krooked Tongue.

Adult Leisure Delivers Pure Magic With New Single, “Dancing Don’t Feel Right”

We recently had the distinct honor to check out the latest melodic gem,”Dancing Don’t Feel Right”, from Bristol(UK)-based alt-indie quartet Adult Leisure. ( spoiler alert : it’s freaking phenomenal) You can listen to “Dancing Don’t Feel Right” on Spotify Here, Apple Music, Here and on Amazon Music Here.

Adult Leisure, has a sound and vibe as red hot and radiant as the sun. “Dancing Don’t Feel Right”, is yet another example of just how fantastically amazing they are.

The track follows November’s acclaimed release ‘Kiss Me Like You Miss Her’, which saw support from BBC Radio 6’s Indie Forever show, The Line Of Best Fit, Fresh on the Net and multiple Spotify editorial playlists. Their August single ‘Borderline’ was used to open an E4 Made In Chelsea episode, their first national TV sync placement.

Dancing Don’t Feel Right’, recorded and mixed with Ollie Searle at Humm Studios and mastered by John Webber (David Bowie, Duran Duran, Coach Party) is a refreshing dose of escapism which feels both incredibly current yet built to last, their signature brand of genre-fluidity ensuring they exist completely outside of time.

The track delivers a blend of dancefloor energy infused with a driving bassline, warm, vibrant synths, catchy percussion and infectious melodies, with Neil Scott’s yearning vocals instructing listeners to leave their inhibitions and responsibilities at the door and lean into the things they shouldn’t.

On the track’s lyrical inspirations, the band says, “We wanted to create a track that asks listeners to step out of line, ditch their inhibitions, and give in to the temptation of doing exactly what they shouldn’t. It’s a narrative of inner conflict, desire and rebellion. The track captures the feeling of being on the edge: stuck in a moment where you know you should hold back, but something – or someone – won’t let you. ‘Dancing Don’t Feel Right’ is our way of ignoring responsibility, silencing the voice of reason, and giving in to the forbidden thrill of indulgence. The song is about the urge to let loose, to break out of the mould and do the bad thing.”

Alongside the announcement of the amazing new single, the band are incredibly proud to reveal that they’ve signed a publishing deal with Wipeout Music , and with an ever growing buzz surrounding their recent output, have announced their biggest headline show to date at Bristol’s Thekla on October 10th 2025.

Last Hyena Deliver An Absolutely Stunning Musical Composition, With New Single , “Make It Sound French”

We recently had the amazing opportunity to check out the new single, “Make It Sound French” , from Bristol’s ( UK) instrumental-rock trio Last Hyena. You can listen to “Make It Sound French” on Spotify Here, Apple Music Here, Amazon Music, Here

You can also watch the video below

Formed in 2016, Last Hyena blend intricate math-rock rhythms with post-rock soundscapes and powerful riffs, creating a musical experience that’s as unpredictable as it is unforgettable. With a reputation for pushing the envelope with their meticulous compositions, Last Hyena prove that sometimes, words aren’t enough.

We couldn’t help but marvel at the amazing musicianship, from Last Hyena , that is on full display on “Make It Sound French” The trio effortlessly weave several intricate melodies that when joined together create a breathtakingly beautiful musical composition.

      GLK Media

Make It Sound French’ follows 2021’s debut album, ‘How Soon is Mars?’which received critical acclaim for its innovative sound and emotional depth, celebrated by the likes of Punktastic, Noizze, At The Barrier, Visions and Everything Is Noise and saw the band awarded slots at festivals such as ArcTanGent, Portals and PWER.

Recorded, mixed and mastered with Mark Roberts (Delta Sleep, Black Peaks, Poly-Math, Jamie Lenman) at Devon’s Middle Farm Studios, Make It Sound French’ blends elements of math-rock, post-rock and ambient noise to capture the experience of adapting to life’s most unpredictable and overwhelming moments.

      GLK Media

Discussing what they hoped to achieve with the track the band explain, With ‘Make It Sound French’, we wanted to explore the emotional weight of complex situations purely through music. It’s a deeply personal piece for us, with the absence of words inviting a more universal experience, where the music itself speaks directly to the emotions we all go through. The track builds from intricate guitar textures, driving rhythms to moments of cathartic release, using dynamic shifts and thoughtful builds to express the tension between disorder and serenity aiming to create a sonic representation of the process of working through inner chaos and ultimately finding clarity.

The title comes from a story shared by a close friend whose father was in a punk band in his younger years. During one of their shows, the band decided to play an impromptu cover of ‘Ça plane pour moi’ by Plastic Bertrand. When the lead singer, our friend’s father, told his bandmates he didn’t know the lyrics, one of them responded with “just make it sound French!”. This spontaneous moment stuck with us because it perfectly embodies the themes we wanted to explore in the track: the idea of adapting to the unexpected, leaning into the chaos and finding a way to make something work even when things aren’t perfect. The title captures that spirit of improvisation and fluidity, much like the journey the music itself takes listeners on. We’re thrilled to share this journey with our listeners, and we hope it resonates with anyone who’s ever had to find peace in the midst of turmoil.”

Music is a beautiful vehicle that is meant to take us on wonderful and beautiful adventures, Last Hyena, are brilliant tour guides, as they deliver a remarkable musical adventure with their latest single , “Make It Sound French”

Oswald Slain Deliver An Instant Classic With Latest Single, “UGLY”

We were beyond excited to check out the new single, “UGLY ”, from Bristol (UK) , rock group Oswald Slain . You can listen to “UGLY” Here

Born from the creative cocoon of their home studio, Oswald Slain is a testament to both personal growth and musical evolution. Recorded over the miserable January of 2024, Oswald Slain’s music reflects a period of introspection and growth. Having reconciled with the chaos of youth and the trials of aging, lyricist Fitz channels these experiences into sincere, humorous, evocative songwriting alongside the timeless swagger of old retro rock records.

      GLK Media

We love everything about , “UGLY”, from Oswald Slain, we found ourselves singing along instantly. Oswald Slain, have a vibe and an energy that is impossible not to fall in love with.

UGLY’ follows the release of November’s debut single Happiness Is Overrated‘, championed by RTE, Fame Magazine, KUTX, Rough Trade’s ‘Counter Culture’ and Apple editorial’s ‘New In Rock’.

Produced in-house in their DIY home studio and mastered by Jason Mitchell at Loud Mastering (PJ Harvey, XTC, Big Special)UGLY‘ lifts the red curtain on the darker side of the 70’s adult entertainment industry.

      GLK Media

Speaking on the inspiration for the song, vocalist and lyricist Charlie Fitzgerald says: UGLY was one of the first tunes we made at home messing about in our little studio. We really enjoyed the slapping drum beat and fuzzy guitars and wanted to make something gross and tacky with some pretty moments. Lyrically it’s inspired by the film Boogie Nights and all the deranged antics that went on behind the glitz and the glamour of the 70’s adult entertainment industry. I like things that aren’t perfect and people who are not afraid to just be themselves; everyone has an ugly side or a bad angle but that only adds to an overall greater beauty in my opinion.”

We are convinced that Oswald Slain, don’t just write songs … No Oswald Slain write freaking ROCK ANTHEMS! UGLY is a freaking ROCK ANTHEM.

Following acclaim from outlets like Revolver, who lauded their “super catchy nu-gaze sound”, the Bristol five-piece returns with another wave of roaring, hypnotic riffs and melancholy grooves. Paired with gritty, emotional vocals and the lyrical content to match, the band explains that the song is “a raw and honest reflection on the courage it takes to choose yourself, even when it means walking away from someone you once trusted.”

Split Chain , offer up an unapologetic and authentic sound that surrounds your senses and leaves you wanting more. We have a feeling that they are just getting warmed up.

Split Chain formed almost 2 years ago as a creative outlet for its members who were all facing different stages of addiction recovery at the time. By channeling their personal struggles into emotionally charged songs, they have connected with a growing fan base drawn to their vulnerability and honesty. “We were writing music as an escape, a  distraction, to create what we wanted to listen to,” they explain. We ended up loving what we had created so much, and from this, Split Chain was formed.”

The band is currently on tour in the U.S. with Silverstein and Thursday you can check out dates below

Adult Leisure’s Authenticity Is Front And Center In Video For Video “Kiss Me Like You Miss Her”

We recently had the extraordinary opportunity to check out the video for “Kiss Me Like You Miss Here” . You can watch the video below

You can also listen to the single on Spotify Here and on Apple Music Here.

Bristol-based alt-indie quartet Adult Leisure artfully deliver a stunning visual for “Kiss Me Like You Miss Here “

The stunning new music video was filmed by the band themselves, on their phones, in its entirety, keeping true to the track’s subject matter, highlighting the everyday anxieties for someone living on the breadline.

Discussing what they hoped to achieve with the music video, drummer Nathan Searle says, To reflect the harsh reality of the cost of living crisis in the UK, we wanted this video to feel simple and genuine. A polished production wouldn’t have felt appropriate for the story we wanted to tell. Instead, we filmed the entire video ourselves, working with what we had and keeping things as straightforward as possible. This approach highlights how creativity and resourcefulness often emerge from limitation. It’s a reminder that art doesn’t need to be extravagant to be powerful, it just needs to be honest.”

Adult Leisure, is a band who truly mastered the art of bringing their music compositions to life . There is a brilliant sense of artistic genius that lives and breathes within Adult Leisure and the fabric of that genius is beautifully captured in the video for “Kiss Me Like You Miss Her”

Krooked Tongue Turn It Up With Electrifying New Single “Ember Mile”

We recently had the stellar opportunity to check out the new single “Ember Mile”, from Bristol (UK) rock trio, Krooked Tongue.

You can listen to “Ember Mile” Here

Every time krooked Tongue releases a new single, it’s as they are trying to top the one before (spoiler alert:Every song Is Amazing) and their latest “Ember Mile” is no exception.

Ember Mile is the follow up to September’s celebrated single Nothing Ever Grows’ which saw support from Apple editorial’s Breaking Hard Rock’, New Noise Magazine, CLOUT, Total Rock and Boogaloo Radio and was used throughout the Bivol vs Beterbiev boxing fight on DAZN sports streaming platform.

Recorded and produced with long-time producer Josh Gallop at Stage 2 Studios in Bath, the track mixes tight, driving drums, scuzzy, distorted guitar lines and Rainsford’s signature lyrical wit and vocal swagger, channelling the rush of excitement of a creative idea coming into fruition, where previous single Nothing Ever Grows encapsulated the negative emotions involved with the feeling of writer’s block.

Describing the single, vocalist and lyricist Oli Rainsford states, In a lot of ways, ‘Ember Mile’ is the more positive cousin of ‘Nothing Ever Grows’. It’s a victory song. The cry of the inner battle when it comes to trying to create. The concept of ‘Ember Mile’ is something that I conjured up that embodied the electricity of a moment. To me it feels like the part of a movie where the hero finally knows what they have to do to save the day. Here comes the triumphant music and the 80s montages. You could say it’s our Rocky 4.

I wanted this song to feel like an internal monologue, breaking the fourth wall and spitting back with a sarcastic tongue. ‘Ember Mile’ refers to a proverbial golden, fiery strip of road where the final idea awaits on the horizon. In my case it’s referring to the final hurdle before finishing writing a song.”

Krooked Tongue and their latest single “Ember Mile “ are a crystal clear reminder of why we love music so much.

Oswald Slain Absolutely Slay With Blazing Bluesy Tune “Happiness Is Overrated”

Ok music lovers , let’s get something out of the way right now. “Happiness Is Overrated “ from Bristol, UK based rock band Oswald Slain absolutely kills . We got major goosebumps from the first note . You can listen to “Happiness Is Overrated “ Here

Formerly known as Little Thief, Oswald Slain’s sound is a rich tapestry woven from the threads of classic Americana, echoing the timeless vibes of Neil Young and The Band, whilst infusing it with the gritty, energetic rock essence familiar from their previous works.

Under their previous moniker, the band toured the UK multiple times, playing slots at esteemed festivals such as Glastonbury, Shambala, Liverpool Sound City, Isle of Wight, Kendal Calling and Greenman Festival, receiving support from the likes of Far Out Magazine, RTE, BBC Radio 6’s Steve Lamacq and BBC Radio 1.

There is an honesty and conviction that runs through the core of Oswald Slain, and it is front and center on “Happiness Is Overrated”

Co-founding members Charlie Fitzgerald and Rhii Williams, who have been writing music together for over 10 years, took the difficult decision to change the band name and move forward in a new direction.

Oswald Slain is a testament to both personal growth and musical evolution. Teaming up with producer and fellow band member Ryan Rogers, their upcoming debut single was produced in-house in their DIY studio. Mastered by Jason Mitchell at Loud Mastering (PJ Harvey, XTC, Big Special), Happiness Is Overrated‘ is a song that pushes back against the pressures of being happy.

Reflecting on the single, vocalist and lyricist Charlie Fitzgerald says: Happiness is Overrated is a rise about misery and a rebellion against the pressures of being ‘happy’. The song came out of a pretty low point in my life: Final lockdown, locked up at home. Everything had kinda fallen apart in my musical world and we were just drinking corner shop wine and trying to keep morale up.  I had been listening to Bob Dylan’s ‘115th Dream’ on repeat and loved the story-telling aspect of the lyricism, so enjoying writing something with lots of words and more of a storyline.

The lyrics sat on my computer for a few years and never really got used until one rainy day in January 2024, they found a final resting place in this big, sad, bar-crawl of a tune.”

“Happiness Is Overrated “ from Oswald Slain is an absolute must listen.

Krooked Tongue Delivers A Musical Experience Of Epic Proportions With Latest Single “Nothing Ever Grows”

We recently had the opportunity to check out the blazing red hot new single “Nothing Ever Grows” from Bristol (Uk) rock trio Krooked Tongue. You can listen to “Nothing Ever Grows” Here

We are absolutely captivated beyond words with the latest single “Nothing Ever Grows “ from Krooked Tongue . We have been fans of the boys ( Oli Rainsford, vocals, Dan Smith, guitar, vocals and Harry Pritchard, drums ) from Bristol, since the first note we heard and with every new song we fall deeper in awe of the mighty Krooked Tongue.

Nothing Ever Grows” was recorded and produced with long-time producer Josh Gallop at Stage 2 Studios in Bath, a brooding number which serves to highlight the importance of a positive mental attitude.

We love the sonic groove/stomp on “Nothing Ever Grows” once you hear it you can’t shake it ( that’s a good thing )

Describing the single, vocalist and lyricist Oli Rainsford states: “‘Nothing Ever Grows’ is a right moody geezer of a song. It was one of those tunes that transpired really quickly and it just captured the essence of the mood perfectly. I think it stems from frustration with yourself when you can’t finish that idea, or that lyric. It’s an ode to the tortured artist. It’s a splash of cold water, a slap across the face followed by a shot of whiskey. A defibrillating wake up call to say ‘Oi, if you don’t get yourself in a better headspace, nothing good or prosperous can come out of it’. Hence ‘Nothing Ever Grows’. And I think that relates to every aspect of life, not just to creativity”

August 2024 saw their biggest support tour to date, supporting Kid Brunswick on his final ‘Dead Forever’ tour across the UK.  They’ve also recently shared the stage with False Heads, Virgin Marys, Phoxjaw, Moriaty, Pulled Apart By Horses, The Soap Girls and Mother Vulture and have played slots at festivals such as Icebreaker, Dot to Dot, The Godney Gathering, Estonia’s Tallinn Music Week and Burn It Down.

We have saying it for a while but it bears repeating…. Krooked Tongue is on the verge of something really big and “Nothing Ever Grows” only reinforces our thoughts about this . So climb on board and strap in because it’s going to be positively amazing.

Adult Leisure Proves They Deserve Your Complete Attention With Their Latest Masterpiece “Borderline”

I often get asked “Why do you love music so much? While there are numerous reasons, The main reason is that it brings me absolute joy to bring attention to bands that need to be heard. Bristol (UK) alt-indie 4 piece Adult Leisure,is without question a band that deserves and needs to be heard .

The latest single “Borderline” is an absolute musical gem that we can’t get enough of . You can listen to “BorderlineHere.

We fell instantly for Adult Leisure and their brilliant alt-indie sound and with “Borderline “ the love affair continues.

Formed in 2020, the band released a string of celebrated singles before unveiling their debut critically acclaimed EP The Weekend Ritual’ in December of 2022, streamed over 60,000 times to date and championed by BBC Radio 1, Variance Magazine, The Independent, RTE and more, which soon saw the band embarking on multiple tours of the UK, earning a handful of rave live reviews along the way.

Borderline”, was recorded and mixed with Ollie Searle at Humm Studios and mastered by John Webber (David Bowie, Duran Duran, Coach Party). Rhythmically and texturally, Borderline is a clear continuation of what they built with their previous EP, yet there’s an added sense of urgency bubbling throughout. Rich melodies, radiant synths and explosive drums come together with Neil’s anguished vocals slicing through the atmosphere like a knife, lyrically exploring the emotions that come after the end of a long-term relationship.

Reflecting on the single the band explain: Dave had sent through a Police-y style demo back last April (2023) and we knew we wanted this to be the next release after our second EP, it felt like a continuation of our sound.

Borderline was inspired by the break-up of a long term relationship around that time for Neil and the feeling of hindsight in the months following it. We always try to write from a personal perspective, however these feelings are so common amongst people that there’s a strange balance of the situation being incredibly personal yet not alone. We allowed ourselves more time in the recording process to try new things and develop our sound, and with thanks to our producer Ollie, we feel it’s sonically our best song to date.”

We are absolutely smitten with “Borderline” and we can’t wait to see what Adult Leisure does next.

I mean we’re all friends here right ? How can you not listen to the opening of “Yours Sincerely and not picture it placed in a summer blockbuster movie.

The Bedside Morale (Tim KazerLead vocals, guitar, Charlie DowzellLead guitar, Kynan ScottBass and Aden Dennis – Drums, Percussion) are a brilliantly assembled music making machine who , have been music together since 2014.

Discussing the single Kazer explains:  Lyrically Yours Sincerely was a really tough song to write. Kynan had come in with the song framework and that beautiful bass line. It felt sad and quiet to me, dejected I guess, and I knew what I wanted to write about, I just had no idea how to do it. I think like a lot of people I dealt with the trauma I had faced by detaching myself from it. I stood in the rafters so to speak. I could say the words and tell people what happened but in some way I was pretending that wasn’t me. But that’s not what felt right for this song. I wanted the song to be in conversation with that person, a chance, albeit not face to face, to say all the things I never knew enough to. So I had to force myself to really feel it. I tried not to shy away from putting it to paper, or wrap it up in clever wordplay, which was hard because it meant accepting the reality of it and how little control I had. There are still some lines in this song that, if I spend too long focussing on, utterly break me. So that’s Yours Sincerely. A song about trying to love, in spite of all the turmoil.”

Their upcoming debut EP ‘Still Life’produced and mixed at Stage 2 Studios with Josh Gallop (Mother Vulture, Krooked Tongue, Phoxjaw), is a four-track snapshot in time of where the band were at creatively, at the beginning of their new musical journey.

We are all in with The Beside Morale , and we can’t not wait for the upcoming EP “Still Life”

Pollyanna Blue Deliver An Absolutely Otherworldly New Single With “Vultures”

For those of you who follow The Whole Kameese on a regular basis, know that when we find an artist or band that we are over the moon about , we can’t help but use our platform to tell the universe about how we feel about the artist or band . Well … there is one band that everytime they release new music we are immediately obsessed with . That band of course, is Bristol-(U.K.) based alt-rock trio Pollyanna Blue . ( Zoe Collins-guitar, vocals, Rich Earle, bass, vocals and Neil Loftus , drums)

We have been big on these guys since we heard their wicked single “Haunted” in October of 2022.

The brand new single “Vultures” is Pollyanna Blue at their absolute best . You can listen to “Vultures” on Spotify Here and on Apple Music Here

We are absolutely smitten with the tone and overall sound of “Vultures “ from Pollyanna Blue. The members of Pollyanna Blue are all highly skilled musicians that bring a high level of energy that is simply magical and it is on full display on “Vultures

Vultures” is a lemonade track. By taking some pretty crappy lemons that life throws your way and squeezing out all of the sour anger, the band have created a ferociously riffy dessert rock track, ready for you to taste. Most people have come across a vulture or two in their lifetime and this song is a way of warning you to watch out for these greedy birds, to run away from them and to let them know they won’t get away from what they’ve done.

“Vultures” is a well crafted song with strong and memorable lyrics that stay with you long after the song has faded.

Lyrically the fearlessness of self expression and narrating themes of mental health and navigating human complexity fits well with the origin of the band’s name, which was influenced by the self help book ‘Feel The Fear and Do it Anyway’. These lyrics are backed by a vocal performance from Zoe, who brings a beautifully soulful yet aggressive power.

Zoe Collins gives a flawless and electrifying vocal performance that is couple with catchy and memorable melodies that make “Vultures “ an absolute can’t miss.

Chasing Kites Soar To New Heights With Beautiful New Single “Collide”

We are absolutely abuzz about the new single “Collide” from Bristol ( UK) based indie four piece Chasing Kites . You can check out “Collide” on Spotify Here and on Apple Music Here .

Recorded with Sam Winfield (Amber Run, Bring Me The Horizon) at Studio 91, the track is one close to vocalist Matt Donnelly‘s heart, telling the story of how his parents met.

writing of Collide took me into unexplored territory in terms of the lyrical content. The track tells the story of how my parents fell in love in somewhat unusual circumstances, in that my dad was already married, and my Mum in a long-term relationship. I find it incredibly romantic how their love for one another was strong enough to overcome this. I’d been keen to incorporate this story into a Chasing Kites track for a while and for whatever reason, this piece of instrumentation felt like the perfect opportunity”,says Donnelly.

In terms of the arrangement, the track was handed over to me by our guitarist Liam in a state where it was essentially fully formed as an instrumental. I lived with the track for a few days and wrote the melody shortly after. As is generally the case with our tracks, the lyrics took a lot longer to take shape. As this story means so much to my family, it was important that I did it justice.”

Chasing Kites were originally founded by frontman Matt Donnelly and guitarist Liam Hope in 2021. After a long search for a rhythm section, drummer James Hunt and bassist Nathan Price were drafted in to complete the band’s electric sound. Hailing from Bristol and named as a BBC Big New Sound, the group intertwine dynamic hooks, 80s synth textures and vivid narratives, capturing reflections on the stories of Donnelly’s youth. With echoes of Catfish and the Bottlemen, The Verve and The 1975, the band have already conjured an arena-ready sound at a tender age.

There is this beautiful emotion of love that surrounds “Collide” from Chasing Kites . We were immediately touched by the stunning orchestral presence on “Collide”, that gives the track a real cinematic feel

We are big fans of lyrics here at The Whole Kameese and “Collide “ is a beautifully written musical composition that is absolutely brilliantly written.

There are pieces of familiarity within the sound and vibe of Chasing Kites. However, there is this vibrant fresh energy that surrounds Chasing Kite and their new single “Collide” that we absolutely love .

“Blood and Blues” is a well written Bluesy, soulful and cinematic track that , literally will take your breath away – spectacular . We love the haunting end line in “Blood and Blues “I hope I die Before I get old”

When asked about how the album came to be , Gav shares : “Everything that’s released now is viewed through the prism of the pandemic, Gavin reflects from his apartment in Bristol. “And in many ways, this is no different. Like everyone else I had been indoors for ages, but once I completed Netflix and finished arguing with the cat, I began to look at the state of the world today. And once I started doing that, I started looking back at my own life. Then before you know it a bunch of songs are sitting on my hard drive.”

Skeletons’ will be available on a limited edition (300) vinyl via Heartbeat Records.

The title track “Skeletons” is a beautiful melody with a flawless and inspiring vocal performance from Gav King .

Gav King Delivers Brilliant New Single “Profiled”

Private Dicks frontman Gav King announces debut solo album ‘Skeletons’ to limited edition vinyl via Heartbeat Records

We recently had the opportunity to check out the new single “Profiled” from the frontman of the legendary Bristol (UK punk band Private Dick, Gav King . “Profiled” is from Gav King’s debut solo record “Skeletons” which, is available March 29th 2024 to limited edition (300) vinyl via Heartbeat Records.

You can listen to “Profiled” on Spotify Here and On Apple Music Here and on Amazon Music Here

Lead single “Profiled”  a song written about Gav’s incredible discovery that he was used as inspiration for movie character Gary King, the main protagonist in Simon Pegg’s 2013 film The World’s End.

Discussing the inspiration behind the track Gav says: Each song on Skeletons is about significant moments that have impacted significantly upon my life. Profied tries to reflect not only the shock I felt upon being told to go and see The World’s End, Simon Pegg’s final part of the Cornetto Trilogy; on one hand feeling used but on the other, flattered, enough to also write a song about it in response. The story itself is worth hearing.”

“Profiled” showcases Gav King at his absolute best . We were instantly mesmerized by the intoxicating melody of “Profiled. Music is meant to jump out of the speakers and into your soul, “Profiled” by Gav King most certainly achieves this and then some.

‘Skeletons’ is due for release March 29th 2024 via Heartbeat Records and will be available on limited edition vinyl and on all major streaming platforms.

Pollyanna Blue Deliver Electrifying New Video For “Strong Enough”

Recently we had the absolute privilege to check out the stunning new video for “Strong Enough “ from Bristol (U.K.) based alt-rock trio Pollyanna Blue.

You can check out the amazing new visual for Strong Enough “ below

You can also check out the trio’s breathtaking debut studio EP “Trials & Tribulations on Spotify Here and on Apple Music Here

We have made it no secret how we feel about Pollyanna Blue, they make the kind of music that you can’t help but want to shout their praises from the mountain tops. The video for “Strong Enough “ is more evidence that Pollyanna Blue is a band on the rise.

Pollyanna Blue was formed in the summer of 2019 by Zoe Collins (guitar and vocals) and Rich Earle (bass and vocals). Their name was inspired by a self help book ‘Feel The Fear And Do It Anyway’, which talks about a nickname ‘Pollyanna’, typically given to a person who is deemed overly optimistic. That ethos, blended with the waves of difficult emotions life throws at you, creates a concept of musical  juxtaposition within a 90s/00s alt rock atmosphere which sees the now-three-piece wield their self discovery, vulnerability and love of music to create something authentic and raw to connect with anyone experiencing some type of hardship.

Their debut studio EP, “Trials & Tribulations” which, was released in June of 2023, and saw the band rightfully celebrated by the likes of RTE, Loudwire, Loud Women, Distorted Sound, Sirius XM and BBC Radio 1.

“Strong Enough “ is one of those songs that stays with you long after the music has ended.

Describing the inspiration behind the single, vocalist and lyricist Zoe Collins explains. “Strong Enough is a song written to defy feelings of doubt and helplessness when working through any obstacle that comes your way. The lyrics were written in a time that Pollyanna Blue were about to go into the studio to record vocals. The creative pressure can sometimes become a challenging place for any artist and this pressure became the catalyst for the lyrics. ‘In times like these, when life gets tough, I’ll show myself I’m strong enough’, I took the pressure of writing lyrics and put my positive Pollyanna spin on it and embellished this alt rock anthem with real meaning.”

The band created a stylised performance video using elements of body movement and production to mirror the struggles and mentality of a creative process, incorporating the frustration and anger of a creative block and the weightlessness of no direction or inspiration. The video serves as a bridge between the debut EP and into the band’s exciting new era. With the addition of newest member Neil Loftus (Drums) and a look at how Pollyanna Blue has grown creatively with their latest video, this is a first glimpse at what is yet to come for the rest of the year.

We don’t know what we did to get so lucky but, not only did we get a phenomenal video for “Strong Enough “ but we will also get new music from Pollyanna Blue in 2024 … We can’t wait .

We Love Everything About My Octopus Mind And Their Magical Third Studio Album ‘Trying To Be Normal’

We are absolutely floating on top of the world because, today (November 3rd ) we finally get to check out the brilliant new third album “Trying To Be Normal” from Bristol’s (UK) experimental psych-rockers My Octopus Mind, released today, (November 3rd 2023 )to vinyl via Drongo Records.

You can listen to “Trying To Be Normal” on Spotify Here and on Apple Music Here and on Amazon Music Here

My Octopus Mind are a high-energy experimental psych-rock four-piece comprised of drums, guitar, vocals and heavily effected double bass. Since their conception in 2017, the band have developed a wild form of experimental rock, taking a tongue in cheek ride through post-punk swagger and dysfunction, wonky riffs, balkan rhythms and moments of haunting grace.

Their glorious Third album “Trying To Be Normal “ is a brilliant display of the magic and beauty of My Octopus Mind. “Trying To Be Normal” is one of those remarkable albums that touches your mind and soul.

Trying To Be Normal” was written socially distanced over the course of 2020 and 2021 in a 1920’s theater and recorded over 5 days with Jake Bright at Giant Wafer Studios in rural Wales with mastering from Shawn Joseph at Optimum Mastering (J Dilla, Portishead). Due to multiple lockdowns there was no pressure to gig, affording team Octopus the time and creative freedom to focus solely on the album, which took shape organically through epic (up to 12 hour) jam sessions. It’s a playful collection of fresh post-pandemic material that marks a turning point in the band’s sound. It’s powerful, silly and immediately danceable.

I came up with the title after a tongue in cheek discussion about making the structures of our songs a bit more approachable. Three or four minute bangers sort of thing. We maybe managed two. Things got out of hand, but the title is still true. We tried”, jokes drummer Oli Cocup.

The album comprises of short, sweet, hard hitting rock bangers, some slightly longer, condensed slabs of prog and post punk, with a cheeky ballad thrown in for good measure featuring vocals from Sang Froid’s Aisling Whiting.

Lyrically “Trying To Be Normal” deals with a lot of heavy subjects; heartbreak, the male identity fusing itself with FEM and rage at rape culture. It’s not without its lighter moments though with nonsensical roleplay as gamblers (High Rollers), thugs (Sabretooth Monkey) and completely inaccurate celebrity critique (Minor Celebrities).

Discussing the creation of the album, the band state: We spent many years making highly tangential, cerebral music. Soundscapes, non-linear song structures, non-repeating metre sequences. This is our best effort to calm down and hide all that cool indulgent stuff in the margins of the earworms. The writing and recording process was much more collaborative and spontaneous, arising from jams that were recorded and then pulled apart for songs to emerge.

Music is art and art is music , and My Octopus Mind have created an absolute musical masterpiece with “Trying To Be Normal “ Part Picasso Part Frank Zappa 100% brilliant.

      MY OCTOPUS MIND ARE:

      Liam O’ConnellGuitar, Vocals and Piano
      Isaac EllisDouble Bass, Vocals
      Oliver CocupDrums, Vocals

PEACH Releases Electrifying Self Titled Debut

We recently got the chance to check out the debut self titled album from Bristol (UK) based desert-rock post-punk four-piece , PEACH . (Spoiler Alert: This Record Absolutely Rocks)

You can listen to the epic self titled album from PEACH on Spotify Here and Apple Music Here and on Amazon Music Here

In 2019, drummer Andy Sutor and guitarist Jean-Paul Jacyshyn (JP) started working on ideas for PEACH. Their shared love of 90’s and early 2000’s desert rock, punk and grunge helped shape up their ideas, citing influences such as Queens of the Stone Age, PJ Harvey and Eleven. Soon after recruiting Tim Cooke on baritone guitar, the initial song ideas started to take shape, but progress was inevitably stifled…

Due to the pandemic delaying progress, the lineup of PEACH finally reached completion in the summer of 2021. Local powerhouse, Ellie Godwin (No Violet), started collaborating on vocals, bringing along writing and vocal influences such as Joni Mitchell and Jeff Buckley. Taking their ideas to the rehearsal room, the band pulled together a hard hitting set of songs. After such a drawn-out inception, they thought it deserved to be recorded.

With a handful of successful singles under their belt, PEACH have been championed by the likes of BBC Radio 1’s Daniel P Carter, Noizze, James Scarlett (Arctangent and 2000Trees festivals) and BBC Radio WalesAdam Walton. They have been awarded support slots alongside bands such as Mclusky, LIFE, Chiyoda Ku, Crows, Skin Failure and CLT DRP as well as a slot in 2022’s Arctangent Festival.

Their debut self-titled album was recorded in Devon at Middle Farm Studios in February 2022 with the incredibly talented and versatile producer Peter Miles (Architects, Dodie, Petrol Girls, TesseracT). Staying true to their original influences, the band opted to record live to tape, using minimal overdubs and capturing the raw energy that now defines their sound.

From the powerful and mesmerizing drum beats on opening track “Dread” it is clear that PEACH are a bunch highly skilled musicians who create powerful and energetic music filled with passion and emotion. We were hooked instantly.

PEACH are not a band who dabble in smoke and mirrors their style and sound is authentic and genuine.

On “Care” we are lured in by the impressive guitar melodies and the electric vocal performance from vocalist Ellie Godwin.

One track that really stood out is the latest single “Already There”

Discussing their influences and meaning behind the song, the band explain:

We are going to lie we pretty much played “Already There “ on continuous loop , definitely one of our favorites.

Alongside the single saw its music video, directed and produced by graphic designer Charlotte Gosch (studio other types) and IDLES’ Lee Kiernan – both part of the film production company Holding Hands with Horses.

You can watch the video for “Already There” below

“Long Mover” is an absolutely stunning track it really showed the incredible versatility of PEACH.

PEACH ( Ellie Godwin, vocals, Jean-Paul Jacyshyn -guitar, Tim Cooke – baritone guitar and Andy Sutor – drums) are one of the most explosive bands we have heard in quite some time . Judging by their phenomenal self titled debut, we have a feeling PEACH is a band that is on the cusp of greatness

Krooked Tongue Are Cinematically Perfect With Epic New Video For “Backseat Therapy”

We made it crystal clear on The Whole Kameese , about our feelings for Bristol (UK) based rock trio Krooked Tongue . Based on their epic new video for their scorching recent single “Backseat Therapy “ , don’t expect our praise to stop anytime soon .

“Backseat Therapy” is taken from the band’s recent EP “Deathproof” You can check out “Deathproof” on Spotify Here and on Apple Music Here

You can listen to “Backseat Therapy “ on Spotify Here and on Apple Music Here

The “Backseat Therapy “ video was filmed with cinematographer Sam East, we absolutely love the Scorsese feel of this video.

Deathproof’s previous singles Lupines and Velociraptor were championed by the likes of Ones To Watch, Loudwire, Louder Than War Radio, Sirius XM and BBC Introducing and saw the band go on to secure slots at festivals such as Icebreaker, Burn It Down and Estonia’s Tallinn Music Week.

Backseat Therapy, taken from the EP, was inspired by an encounter vocalist and lyricist Oli Rainsford had had with a down on his luck taxi driver.

Explaining what happened, Rainsford says,I wrote ‘Backseat Therapy’ after jumping in a cab one day and the driver started venting to me about the shitty day he was having. We were continuously getting stuck in traffic and he kept apologising that he couldn’t get me to where I was going quicker, despite me telling him it was absolutely fine and not his fault. The conversation led to him telling me about how badly some passengers had treated him and that he was considering quitting. I ended up kind of being a life coach for the journey and reassured him that he was a nice bloke and he was doing a good job. Hence ‘Backseat Therapy’. Taxi, this one’s for you!”

Krooked Tongue is clearly a band with their foot on the gas. They are truly gaining speed and recognition with everything they do ( and it is certainly deserved ) . Do your self a favor jump in the backseat and watch the stellar video for “Backseat Therapy “ it may not fix all your worries but…. It definitely rocks

We are fully in love with “Sabretooth Monkey” , My Octopus Mind brilliantly offers up their unique sound that you simply cannot resist.

We were mesmerized by the intoxicating and funky melodies of “Sabretooth Monkey”

The new single is a song so lyrically bizarre, no synopsis could possibly do it justice. Discussing the chaos of the track, the band very seriously explain:

“This is a serious song and it needs to be taken seriously. The demystification of art by explaining the art will now be explained by the art. We think you the listener should befriend a llama, buy a motorbike and take to the open road, drink diesel for breakfast, and headbutt a seagull. I’m a Sabretooth Monkay baby now get your hands off my stash. Also the bass line is fire and the guitar solo is some classic atonal chaos through the Cherry Box fuzz by Lollygagger. shout out to that wizard.”

Crafted over the course of three intense years, DIY, recorded at Humm Studios with Dom Mitchison (Heavy Lungs, The Manatees, Pet Shimmers), mixed by Ky Witney (The Naturals) and mastered by Pete Maher (Pixies, Jack White, The Rolling Stones), is the result of his ambition to produce an authentic album that reflects himself and what he believes in. He explores his own mental health struggles, relationships, substance abuse, and the impact of his religious upbringing throughout the album.

“DIY” is an absolute treat , Ed Jefferson has crafted an absolute gem.

“DIY” opens with the sonically pleasing track “Landlubber” , the track sets the perfect tone for a collection of outstanding songs.

“DIY” is filled with absolutely infectious grooves, one of our favorite’s is “Equator “

“Silencer” is an absolutely blazing track . We found ourselves singing along to this one well after the music stopped.

We try to always pick a favorite track when we do an album review however, with DIY” we actually have two …. The first one is “Filthy” We can say with absolute certainty that, “Filthy” is one of the best songs we have heard all year ( So Far) “Filthy “ is a brilliantly crafted track that just flat out rocks .

The other track that we couldn’t get enough of is “Menace” sonically and melodically pleasing. We might have scared a few people grooving to this on the highway but , it was well worth it

We don’t like to beat around the bush so we are just going to come right out and say it “Spit On The Pavement “ is absolutely brilliant. It’s the kind of song that is meant for big stadiums and big events . By the second time through the song we were singing along ( It’s that good )

Recorded with Dom Mitchison (Heavy Lungs, The Manatees, Pet Shimmers), mixed by Ky Witney (The Naturals) and mastered by Pete Maher (Pixies, Jack White, The Rolling Stones),

Discussing what inspired the single, Ed explains, “’Seeing people spit on the pavement, I’ve always thought it was such a futile act of rebellion. This led me to think about all the other ways we rebel or try and destroy our own paths in similarly pathetic ways. In this track I touch on my own previous relationships and how I have sabotaged my own journey through life. So, how do you spit on your pavement?”

Sonically and melodically pleasing , with flawless vocals. “Spit On The Pavement “ is an absolute can’t miss . We can not wait for the release of “DIY”

We Just Can’t Get Enough Of Little Thief And Their Epic New Single “Geronimo”

We recently checked the absolutely amazing and incredibly addictive new single “Geronimo” from Bristol (UK) -based rock outfit Little Thief. (Charlie Fitzgerald, guitar, vocals and Rhii Williams, drums)

You can listen to “Geronimo” on Spotify Here and on Apple Music Here

The energy from little Thief on their latest masterpiece “Geronimo “ is positively electrifying. In all seriousness Little Thief has crafted an absolute anthem. We challenge anyone to listen to this song and not get pumped up!

“Geronimo” was produced and mixed by Ali Staton at Crossleaze Studio, was written about camaraderie in the face of adversity, inspired by old war films and team sports. The addictively frenetic new single combines thunderous drums, groove-laden basslines and sing-along anthemic choruses, a true crowd pleaser out just in time for the festival season.

Speaking of festival season… Little Thief have slots at Isle Of Wright, Kendal Calling, Greenman, and Shambala festivals.

Discussing the single, vocalist and lyricist Charlie Fitzgerald states: “People do incredible things when up against it and true colours often show when everything falls apart. For me, it signifies sticking together through good times and bad”

Charlie continues: “We spent a few days in the basement of our place on Albany road in Bristol working together on a bunch of new tracks and Geronimo came from that batch. It was one of the first tunes where the music came first and the lyrics followed. I really enjoyed writing the words for this as they are a bit cheesy, fun and simple with a very repetitive nature. We had the demo banging around for ages and really enjoyed playing it live.”

Bands like Little Thief are exactly why we love music so much , they approach music with a fire and passion that is undeniable.

We are so excited for more music from Little Thief .In the mean time , we will continue to bounce around the room listening to “Geronimo”
