Frog Announces New Album, “The Count” , Out September 19th And…. Deliver New Single, “BITTEN BY MY LOVE VAR. XI”

When cult New York-based band Frog announces a new album, it should be a national holiday. Frog will announce ‘THE COUNT,’ their seventh album, with the “BITTEN BY MY LOVE VAR. XI” single. The new record will be released on September 19th.

You can listen to “BITTEN BY MY LOVE VAR. XI” Here

BITTEN BY MY LOVE VAR. XI “ from Frog, has an irresistible and mystical spark that we simply can’t ignore.

Following February’s1000 Variations on the Same Song,’ Daniel Bateman and brother Steve (drums/percussion) offer another ten variations, locking into a style and sound, stretching its limitations and exploring the possibilities.

However, ‘THE COUNT’ takes a left turn from even Frog’s most idiosyncratic past material, with Bateman assuming the titular role of a mysterious New Yorker turned piano man for one impromptu and unforgettable performance. While Bateman’s skill for penning songs about love, loss, and lust remains unchanged, this is a Frog album like no other.

The expanded Frog lineup, featuring founding member Tom White on bass, will be touring in October after a September 4th performance at Hopscotch Fest in Raleigh, NC.

Daniel Bateman’s statement on THE COUNT:

In late August of ’25, a peculiar man known only as THE COUNT began to appear at various locales throughout the New York metropolitan area, drinking heavily and raving about various offscreen women. He was tall, skinny, but muscular in a way that only comes from manual labor, and he wore J. Crew slacks with a wife-beater. If you were in his presence, even if only for a moment, you could feel the power that hid behind his dark eyes, eyes that would stare out at you like deep oceans of hazel and blue, beckoning. He was intensely aware of the presence of every woman within a 2-square-block radius and made a lasting impression on all of them that they didn’t completely understand. He was like a black hole that curved all of space, where the trajectory of every object that passed near him wavered and became blurry. He was the kind of man, in short, that you could stare at for ages, if only he wouldn’t stare back. But the Count always stared back.

There were whispers of associations with various underworld figures, and multiple unsubstantiated accounts of past employment as both a mercenary in North Africa and as a seaplane pilot somewhere near Guadalajara, or maybe Guam. You couldn’t really place his accent, which seemed to somehow waver between thick Alabama drawl and rural Minnesotan twang, but his speech was thick with New York area slang that only a native would ever employ. He almost always smelled of sweat, marijuana smoke, and alcohol. He was meticulously groomed, and his face was never unshaven. On first glance, you’d have thought he was in his late 20s, but occasionally there was a deep weariness that showed behind his eyes that only someone older, maybe even a lot older, ever has.

As he walked up to the piano, there was an involuntary hush that fell over the small group of onlookers and corporate workers having lunch. He was unhurried but graceful, each step measured, his hand dragging behind or brushing a strand of hair from his eyes. There was a kind of rhythm to the way he moved, something ritualistic and primal, as if he needed to treasure every millisecond of this experience, to examine it as fully as he was able. His hands eyed the keys like they were ravenous dogs stayed only by a look from an ominous master. As his fingertips brushed the ivory, he exhaled slightly, and a thin smile seemed to come to his lips. He began to play.

The music was stranger than any the audience had ever heard, but it had a strong and captivating rhythm, and his touch was arresting. He opened his mouth to sing, and it became immediately clear to everyone present that not only had he entered some kind of trance, but his voice and even his face had begun to change, had begun twisting and writhing with other people’s features, screaming with other people’s lungs. He was now a drunken lounge singer in a darkened booth, now a penitent in despair kneeling in a wooden pew, now a redneck with ripped overalls and broken banjo strings. The songs wove into one another, and he did not stop for applause. Not a single person who was there when he began moved or left before the performance ended. When he finished, he rose and walked around the corner without looking behind him.

Afterwards, several of the onlookers would swear up and down that he levitated, and that the whole piano, bench, and player had risen above the sidewalk a good six inches or more.”

WYLDLIFE Return With Blazing Hot New Record, “sorted.”

We recently had the phenomenal opportunity to check out the new record , “sorted”, via Wicked Cool Records, from New York City based WYLDLIFE. You can listen to red hot new record, “sorted.” Here

One listen to, “sorted”, from WYLDLIFE, and it is crystal clear that these guys are the epitome of bad ass , loud, perfect rock and roll.

Recorded over three years across half a dozen studio sessions, sorted. is a snarling, swaggering sonic mélange of all things rock ‘n’ roll.

“It’s like dumping out a big box of puzzle pieces,” says frontman and lyricist Dave FeldmanIt’s all over the place — and so are we. But now, it’s sorted.” The title is both a nod to British slang and a tongue-in-cheek reflection on the long road to its creation. But those pieces snap together into ten wonderful, disjointed yet somehow homogenous tracks that hit hard, fast and filthy – delivering WYLDLIFE’s trademark cocktail of catchy, irreverent, and razor-sharp rock with more bite than ever.

“Fast Dreams”, “Little Headcase, and Generate 2 Terminate are strong well written gems that we were absolutely smitten with.

If we had to pick a favorite track off of “Sorted”, it would without question be , “Dizzy” , we simply couldn’t get enough of this track. Perfect melody, flawless vocals – freaking brilliant.

Reflecting on  “Dizzy”, vocalist Dave Feldman says, In writing “Dizzy,” we just wanted people to have that feeling of coming home from school in 1995, turning on MTV and hearing some “choooon” from the UK. Personally, I never want to lose that feeling or exit that headspace. We always told journalists ‘we love BritPop’ and we did it way before it was cool (again). Well here you go, folks: Here’s our love anthem to BritPop.

“Sorted” from , WYLDLIFE, is the rock and roll thrill ride that you didn’t know you needed.

The track arrives as part of her upcoming project, ‘Frankie On The Dancefloor,’ out May 30th.An expanded edition of her 2024 EP, ‘Frankie,’ the project will feature four fresh remixes alongside this electrifying new original track.

Though originally written for ‘Frankie,’ “Flown Away”found its own path. “For a while, she was a misfit,” Pieri reflects. “Sonically, she didn’t quite fit with the rest of the project. But stepping away gave me the space to reimagine her. Frankie’s story wasn’t over, and ‘Flown Away’ felt like the perfect way to keep her spirit alive while pushing the sound forward.”

You can listen to “Flown Away” Here

The single marks a turning point for Pieri as she leans into dance-driven influences. “I love a more traditional pop sound, but lately, I just want to move—to dance!” she shares. “Leaving this song tucked away never felt right. Now, nearly a year after ‘Frankie,’ it finally feels like the right time to share it.”

Released in May 2024, ‘Frankie‘—alongside its accompanying short film—told the story of a woman reclaiming her voice and power. The EP was born at a crossroads for Pieri, as she contemplated walking away from music altogether. What emerged instead was a project of resilience, self-discovery, and artistic revival, co-written with an all-female team and executive produced by Skyler Cocco. ‘Frankie‘ didn’t just mark a creative rebirth—it solidified Pieri’s place as an artist ready to make her voice louder than ever.

Born in São Paulo, Brazil, and relocating to the U.S. at 16, Pieri now splits her time between New York and Los Angeles. Balancing the demands of an MBA program by day and the high-energy world of pop music by night, she is the embodiment of ambition and artistry. With a sound that fuses her Brazilian roots and pop sensibilities, Pieri has captivated tastemakers and fans alike—crafting music that moves people, both emotionally and on the dancefloor.

Before, getting deep into our review, we would like to mention that Fake Dad, is one of our most commented about bands that we cover . Every one wants to know who they are …. And with good reason.

Andrea de Varona (she/her) and Josh Ford (he/him) aka Fake Dad, formed in 2020, the two met at a college party in the East Village and have been inseparable ever since. Melting their own unique artistic visions to build a shared sonic shorthand, Fake Dad create an intoxicating and colorful musical fusion complete with catchy pop-laden hooks, crunchy, 90s inspired guitars, grooving bass lines, and buoyant synths. With a distinctive production sound and a signature vocal delivery, the two write and record expansive musical moments from their apartment.

Their otherworldly new EP, Holly Wholesome and the Slut MachineFake Dad have created characters that live in their made up world of angry, burger-flipping clowns, star-crossed knights, and masked sleep paralysis demons. Throughout the process, Andrea and Josh realized that they were using the fiction to unpack very real aspects of their lived experiences—including their identities and sexualities as romantic partners in a straight-passing relationship.

There are so many amazing moments on Holly Wholesome and the Slut Machine”, from Fake Dad. Every track has this gorgeous and cinematic appeal that we simply can’t look away

The energy on the opening track, “Crybaby” is absolutely electric, we were singing and dancing along almost instantly.

The addictive beat on “Odyssey To Venice” is an intoxicating indie dream that we did not wake up from .

The track that really got our attention was, “WANTO” , the track has a really mysterious vibe that we felt ourselves instantly gravitating to – Bravo

Television Skies Craft A Timeless Gem With New Single, “Time Of My Life”

,

We recently had the amazing opportunity to check out the vibrantly brilliant new single, “Time Of My Life”, from New York City based duo, Television Skies( Spoiler Alert: It Is Freaking Awesome) You can listen to “Time Of My Life” Here

At the risk of sounding too corny , we had the time of our life , listening to “Time Of My Life , from Television Skies.

Television Skies, blend infectious pop rock energy with a vintage, feel-good vibe. Known for their anthemic hooks, raw emotion, and rebellious spirit, they create songs that hit with both nostalgic intensity and punk rock heart. Television Skies is redefining alternative pop music on their own terms — staying true, and free from disguise. Inspired by artists like The 1975, Coldplay and Arctic Monkeys, the duo craft intoxicating songs that speak to universal themes of love, identity, and perseverance.

Their latest single “Time of My Life” showcases the duo’s ability to combine the anthemic energy of classic rock with the storytelling and emotion of alternative pop. Capturing a moment of recklessness, the track details when you’ve gone too far, and there’s no turning back. They share, “There is a strong through-line throughout our music that aims to inspire and draw out the limitless potential of our generation. Turning to a more rock based sound for our new project to try to capture the nostalgic yet hopeful look toward a better and brighter tomorrow. It’s desperate, vulnerable, and raw, a crash in slow motion. All you can do is hope that the people you love will remember your life with a smile. There’s beauty in the wreckage, a feeling that’s both tragic and euphoric.”

Sonically, “Time of My Life” balances motion and reflection. Its fast pace and driving percussion mirror the urgency of pushing forward in life, while the reflective lyrics emphasize its nostalgic tone. Working alongside Cass Dillon (Morgan Saint, Devora, Billy Joel), “Time of My Life” sees the band entering a fresh approach to their songwriting, delving into themes of searching—searching for meaning, searching for identity, searching for a place where we belong.

Television Skies add, “Time of My Life is about making mistakes, losing control, and still finding a reason to keep going. If it inspires someone to take a risk, to chase something they’ve been afraid to go after, or even just to let go of whatever’s been holding them back, then we’ve done our job. There’s a freedom in accepting that life is messy, that you don’t have to have everything figured out, and that sometimes the best thing you can do is just throw yourself into the moment. More than anything, we hope our music gives people that push—to live fully, to love sincerely, and to believe that no matter where they are, they can always find their way home.”

In our opinion, ( feel free to debate us ) you need 3 things for a hit song, Skill, A Good Melody and a little luck. Television Skies, have absolutely hit the jackpot with Time Of My Life” . Run don’t walk to your closest music listening machine and get lost in the magic of , “Time Of My Life” from Television Skies.

At its core, “Turtleneck” is a poignant exploration of post-breakup disorientation—the kind of emotional limbo where the past feels safer than the present. “‘Turtleneck’ is about how lost you can get after getting out of a relationship, Maddie shares. “It’s tempting to ground yourself in the memory of what was, rather than accepting what is.” The track’s whimsical yet raw soundscape perfectly mirrors this tension, pulling listeners into a world where hope and heartbreak intertwine.

Originally from Toronto and now living in New York City, Maddie Regent discovered her passion for songwriting at just 12 years old, using music as a powerful outlet to navigate her anxieties and give voice to her innermost thoughts. Since her debut in 2021, Maddie has released two beloved EPs,MISS REGENTand Girl of Your Dreams, and has earned recognition from tastemakers like Atwood Magazine and EARMILK. Her unique blend of introspective lyrics and infectious indie-pop melodies has established her as a refreshing voice in the indie-pop scene.

Working hand-in-hand with her partner, producer, and songwriter Cade Hoppe, Addie has meticulously honed her craft, creating a sound that effortlessly marries catchy pop hooks with raw, unfiltered storytelling. Now, armed with her most ambitious project yet—her debut album, On the phone with my mom—Maddie Regent is poised to make 2025 her breakout year.

m.w.u. is a vibrant sonic adventure—a maximalist pop masterpiece bursting with infectious melodies, pulsating electronica, and intricate arrangements. The Backfires Create A Brilliant Spark With Brand New Single And Video “Brighter Lights”

We recently had the opportunity to check out the brand new single and video for “Brighter Lights” from transatlantic indie rockers , The BackFires . You can listen to “Brighter LightsHere and you can check out the video below .

The band is known as New York’s most promising bands, this is their first release of music since 2023.

Formed in 2018, when Alex Gomez (vocals) left New York to study in London and met Harry Ruprecht (guitar) and Max Wanduragala (drums). The three of them then returned to the states in 2019 and recruited Matt Walter (bass) before they recorded their debut EP, Consider the Backfires’ in the hazy midst’s of lockdown. In 2021 the band returned to London for a stint where they recorded singles, Blindsided and Reflections On My TV’ and are now permanently based out of New York.

Inspired by the city’s infamous nightlife, “Brighter Lights” is a raucous indie club floor filler, that combines a driving riff with hints of disco and a huge euphoric chorus.

The band says, “We wanted to make a song that sounds like New York” the band explain. “Then we got to recording and made the beginning of the track feel like you were entering a club. The song nods to the dance and club music of New York that we’ve gotten to experience in the past couple of years of living here.”

We love the feel and vibe of “Brighter Lights” , The Backfires have this familiar indie rock sound but then they reel you in with their unique approach that is both refreshing and just the right amount of low key cool

If you like the single, then you are going to love the ingenious/insane video, portraying the band involved in a complex heist with the aim of stealing a disco ball. It’s basically Reservoir Dogs meets Studio 54.

The band continues about the video saying, “The video is this ridiculous spectacle of action and excitement that’s reflective of being in the energy of New York. The bright lights of New York are intoxicating but are shrouded in superficiality. Who would carry out a heist for a disco ball, and drive away in a convertible, all to perform at a nightclub? It’s absurd.”

Do yourself a favor and check out “Brighter Lights”, from The Backfires , you will be glad you did .

Kait Warner Has Crafted An Absolutely Mesmerizing Debut Album “Rodeo Clown”

We were first introduced to the spellbinding and beautifully mysterious music of New York City based singer-songwriter and pianist Kait Warner back in May of 2023 with the release of her breathtaking debut single “Over Again” as we said in our original review “Warner carefully weaved images and tones of darkness and magnificently made them shine”.

Now we have been given a musical gift of epic proportion , as Kait Warner delivers her stunning debut album “Rodeo Clown”

You can listen to “Rodeo Clown“ on Spotify Here and on Apple Music Here

On “Rodeo Clown” Kait Warner artfully and authentically examines both the brightness and darkness within the human condition.

The opening track, “Future” has a county/americana soul mixed with a indie pop heart.Warner, effortlessly is able to take many different tones and sounds and create musical works of art. (This a common theme throughout “Rodeo Clown”

On the album’s title track “Rodeo Clown” Kait Warner shows hints of musical brilliance. “Rodeo Clown “ is the kind of song that you remember and it never really fades, always staying with you .

Rodeo Clown is the emotional centerpiece of the album. Here, with almost a whimsical flair, Kait expresses the destabilizing feelings of the album’s core topic of deep meaningful friendships suddenly and dramatically ending. “There also definitely a crush element to this song as well. It’s about making yourself into a fool for the person you’ve fallen for, and the deliciously agonizing back and forth between two people who want each other but whose egos get in the way,” Kait reveals

We love the mysterious feel of “Good Behavior “ In our original review of “Good Behavior we commented “Good Behavior “ has a realness and authenticity that you just can’t fake . Kait Warner is a skilled songwriter who creates songs from the heart .Kait not only wrote “Good Behavior “, she also arranged the song as well”.

One of our favorite songs on the record is the beautifully written “23” We love everything about this song . Kait gives a stunning vocal performance that is otherworldly “23” has all the elements that make Kait Warner stand out in a musical landscape that is at times mundane.

Rodeo Clown was recorded at Business District Recording in Johnson City, New York, a space bursting at the seams with a wild assortment of vintage gear and musical instrument curiosities—many of which were used during the sessions. Joining Kait in the studio is producer Hunter Davidsohn (Porches, Frankie Cosmos, Sheer Mag, and Bethlehem Steel), percussionist and coarranger Spencer McKee, bassist and brass instrumentalist Daniel Thomas, violinist Raina Arnett, guitarist Ryan Sheehan, and drummer Elli Caterisano

“Rodeo Clown” from Kait Warner, is a must listen. If you love music you will love “Rodeo Clown “ from Kait Warner

Kait Warner is a one of a kind artist who creates from a place of artistic brilliance, which is wonderfully on display in her new video for “Good Behavior “

A lot of artist create their artist visions in almost a one dimensional space . However, Kait Warner is not afraid to throw it out all on the canvas and see what sticks .

Musically, “Good Behavior “ is haunting and mysterious, making the visual treatment of the song very appropriate.

We thought the horror movie approach to the video, was an absolute scream. “ Good Behavior “ from Kait Warner is a an amazing song that now has an equally amazing video to go with it.

Middle Part Delivers Epic New Single “Superstar”

We recently had the pleasure of checking out the new single “Superstar” from NY indie artist Middle Part. You can listen to “Superstar” Here

“Superstar” focuses on the rat race tied to pursuing personal dreams and goals. It tackles the pitfalls of comparison and sticking to your guns when checkpoints seem impossibly far away and the desire to quit hangs heavy. He confides, “Corporate financed content gets the fast track as independent artistry often falls into the shadows. Fame is fickle and vapid amidst an era of hyper individualism and self-promotion. Often we find ourselves climbing over each other in order to grasp a slice of what’s promised with celebrity status and lose ourselves along the way. The rebuttal is that at the end of the day above all compassion and honesty are the virtuous routes.”

We absolutely love “Superstar”, the opening melody is catchy and draws you in to a brilliantly written song . The vocals are drop dead perfect and linger effortlessly in your subconscious.

“Superstar” is off of Middle Part’s anticipated debut album Disruptor. Middle Part has received acclaim from the likes of Ones to Watch, The Line of Best Fit, Wonderland and more.

Middle Part Andy Selkōw’s artist moniker – is hellbent on pouring his heart out and proving that earnest emotion and endless hooks can coexist within the distorted landscape of his nostalgic sound. Drawing inspiration from the late ’90s and early 2000s, Selkōw’s unique brand of unconventional pop music pays homage to the era, resonating with the confessional lyrical prowess of artists like Alanis Morisette, Third Eye Blind, and Michelle Branch.

“Superstar” is Middle Part firing on cylinders. It is most certainly a track you can’t miss.

Spare Me” is the first single from Ella’s upcoming debut EP, due out later this year.

Built on Ella’s effortlessly commanding vocals, “Spare Me” has an intoxicating raw energy that lures you in. The single weaves a sonic tapestry of pop, soul, jazz, and rock influences in a way that manages to feel both finely-tuned and improvisational.

I wrote this song in one sitting and never changed anything about it. It feels like the most genuine song I’ve ever written,” Ella says. “It’s a sad and bittersweet song about loving someone who is emotionally unavailable, and letting myself have feelings for someone and then thinking… ‘was it worth it? Would it have been better to have never loved to spare myself the inconvenience?’ But, it’s also ultimately about realizing that you don’t have to ‘Spare Me.'”

Taking influence from pop, soul, jazz and rock, Ella’s songs showcase her fondness for experimentation and innovation. She got her start performing in a variety of fusion bands in Boston and New York before branching out with her own solo project in 2022. She’s spent the last few years developing her sound and fine-tuning her live show with performances around New York City.

“Spare Me” is an absolute gem. Ella Galvin, has woven a stunningly brilliant soulful track that is simply breathtaking. We could not get enough.

On her upcoming EP, Ella masterfully combines her genre-blending musical influences with diaristic storytelling that captures the charm, discomfort, and introspection of being a young, queer woman in today’s world. With growing buzz and plenty of music in the pipeline, Ella Galvin is an artist you’re going to want to keep an eye on in 2024.

At the tender age of 20, Alesandra has already begun to carve out a niche space for herself in the music world. Her journey began in the quiet suburbs of Gladwyne, Pennsylvania, where she started to write her own songs at the young age of 7. These early compositions were more than mere childhood play: they were the first signs of a burgeoning talent; a raw, innate ability to blend lyrics and melodies into something greater.

As Alesandra grew older, her aspirations stretched beyond the boundaries of her small Pennsylvania town. She set her sights on the bright lights of New York City, a place synonymous with dreams and ambition. Her acceptance into New York University was an important milestone, marking the beginning of a new chapter in Alesandra’s story. At NYU, she chose to major in vocal performance, with a concentration in the contemporary vocal style. This decision wasn’t just about honing her skills as a vocalist; it was a statement of her commitment to her art and her determination to make a mark in the world of contemporary music.
