Joshua David Thayer Releases His Most Compelling Music To Date, With New Ep “WARMONGER”

We recently had the opportunity to check out the artistic triumph that is the new EP, “WARMONGER “ via Brave Tiger Records , from Boston based indie singer songwriter, Joshua David Thayer. You can listen to “WARMONGER” it all of it’s melodic glory on ScratchStream Here, Bandcamp Here and Subvert Here

“WARMONGER” is so much more than just a 11 minute, three song EP, it is an important recorded time stamp of sound which acts as a strong commentary of the current state of the world.

The choice to release the EP only on Bandcamp, Subvert, and ScratchStream — and not on the larger streaming services — is intentional. Thayer’s framing is direct:

Songs about the corporate machinery of power shouldn’t be feeding that very same machinery.”

ScratchStreamThayer’s own independent high-fidelity streaming platform, built around a one-cent minimum per play and direct artist payouts — is the canonical streaming home for the EP. Bandcamp and Subvert are the canonical places to support through purchases.

The three songs — “Warmonger,” “That’s The Way I Roll,” and “Stay Small” — are each voiced from positions of power. An evil man insisting a horrific scenario will end only when he says it ends. A chronic liar boasting that no one dares name him as a villain. A controlling voice from the top instructing the people beneath him to stay quiet. No empathy, no sympathy, simply command and control.

“WARMONGER”, from Joshua David Thayer, is a perfect example of music artfully and loudly pointing out the much notable cracks in current day.

The songs arrived as a batch over a couple weeks in March and April 2026, while Thayer was exploring other material. “I was sorting through a pile of other demos when these three started pushing their way through, I guess driven by the state of things around us,” he says. “I didn’t sit down to write about any of these topics in particular. I picked up a guitar, started building drum beats, and the material itself coerced these words into place.

Beyond the message of the EP, Thayer shows tremendous growth as an artist. He took the blank canvas that would become “WARMONGER” and created an absolute masterpiece.

The melodic and musical structure of the opening track, “WARMONGER” almost feels like hymn. The sound of Thayer’s voice is drop dead flawlessly perfect. We were instantly enthralled.

There is an effortless groove that freely rolls throughout , “That’s The Way I Roll” may be Joshua David Thayer’s best riff to date .

The closing track, “Stay Small” is a well written gem that will forever stay with you long after the music has ended .

A good song needs a voice to be heard … Joshua David Thayer is the perfect voice for these very important songs. “WARMONGER “ is the definition of “Must Listen To Music “
