We recently had the distinct honor and privilege to check out the new EP, “Old Notes” , from Boston Indie band, Something Sneaky. You can listen to “Old Notes” Here

From the moment we heard the opening track, “Stevie’s Here” we knew were in for a melodic treat ( we were right) Something Sneaky, has soulful sound that makes them instantly stand out .

“Old Notes” is a well crafted collection of music that is loaded with both grooves and themes that make you think .

As a band, Something Sneaky, a group of multi-generational South Shore friends composed of Justin Iacovino (vocals, guitar, keys), Jeremy Iacovino (drums); Chris Casserly (bass); and Jesse George (guitar), isn’t too keen on over-explaining the meaning of the songs they create, but there are some hints that provide a bit of a lyrical compass through the EP’s 20 minutes.

Each song is a bit of its own story, but there are some repeated themes of ocean tides, gravity, and waves,” Justin Iacovino admits. “There are multiple ‘relationships’ throughout the EP but not always between people – sometimes music or drugs or anxiety

We found ourselves instantly attached to “Gold Notes” flawless vocals coupled with a memorable melodic composition, make it really stand out .

“Depressure (Buried Dust)”, has a dreamy cinematic feel to it that really shows a very artful dimension to the band that really suites them well.

Every song on “Old Notes “ made us fall deeper and deeper with the authentic artistry of Something Sneaky. However, the track that stopped us dead in our tracks, is “Hole Food” , Something Sneaky is most certainly firing on all cylinders on this one. We also hard a real 70’s rock sound on the track that we absolutely loved . From the opening note on “Stevie’s Here” to the last note on “Stoner Kids”, “Old Notes” from Something Sneaky is an absolute blast.
