We recently checked out the new single from alt-pop meets rock Chinese American singer/songwriter Emei. Entitled “Trust Issues”

The wonderful and very catchy “Trust Issues “ was initially inspired by a dream where Emei shaved her head—apparently signaling a desire to “let go”. Growing up with immigrant parents who over-emphasized independence, Emei has always had trouble trusting others. Now, becoming an adult, she has been forced to face the problems that this self-reliance can cause. “Trust Issues” navigates what it feels like to grow up and the realization that there’s no way to rely on yourself through it all.
