We recently checked out Chief State and their new single “22 Reasons “ the next single off the band’s long awaited debut full-Length ‘Waiting For Your Colours,’set for release via Mutant League Records on July 1.

Of the new track vocalist vocalist Fraser Simpson says, “22 Reasons is a song that we’re all really proud of. It’s pretty different to what we normally do so we’re stoked to finally share it! This was the song that started to shape our album, it got the ball rolling and created the momentum needed to push through with this project during what was a difficult time for everyone in 2021. The lyrics are an honest introspection into a breakup I went through, how my perspective had changed from being with someone so closely to then being on the outside looking in. That was the hardest at first, knowing someone for so long to then only being able to see their light from a distance. Looking back I can see it was an essential part of my own growth, the hardship of that time led me to question what I was doing with my life. I had been just waiting for my colours to come through. This album is about my journey over the last few years but it is something we all go through. It’s about trying to find out who you are and who you want to be, trying to find your colours. 22 Reasons is the last single before our album comes out on July 1st, we’re so grateful to everyone that has supported us on this journey! We recently listened to Goldie Vargas and her dream like masterpiece “Moving In Reverse “

Written during the first week of the pandemic, “Moving in Reverse” is a cathartic emotional release. Over dreamy, atmospheric production, Goldie’s honeyed vocals unfurl as she poignantly describes the fear, isolation and uncertainty she was feeling: “Days go by and I’m still trying to find the way to get out alive / Days go by and I’m still trying to get towards the other side.

After writing and recording “Moving in Reverse,” Goldie didn’t touch it again for an entire year. She explains what drew her back to the song: “It took a really mentally challenging period of my life to take me back to the final recording of the song where I discovered an entire new meaning in it. Everything I was going through with brain fog, anxiety and depression was being said through the song and communicated in such a clear way.”

We recently checked out Nashville based Indie-Rock trio Goldpark and their epic new single “Covered in Sunshine “

The song is perfect indie – rock goodness cooked to absolute perfection.

Lead vocalist Wes Hunter expands on the simple yet powerful meaning of the song: “’Covered in Sunshine’ is about the power of stepping outside. All of these problems, anxieties, and fears that have come from a reliance on technology feel a little less heavy when we step into the sunlight. That’s where we realize where ‘real life’ actually lives. Being a ‘part of life’ isn’t being fully connected at all times with the world around us through a viewfinder. It’s being a part of the outside world we forget about so often.”

Covered in Sunshine” is the second single from Goldpark’s forthcoming sophomore EP and follows the lead single, “Lady Lightyear.” The band co-wrote “Covered in Sunshine” with Trent Dabbs (Kacey Musgraves, Ingrid Michaelson, COIN) and Jeremy Lutito (Needtobreathe, Joy Oladokun, Colony House) produced the track.

We recently checked out NY pop punk vets With Punches and their sonically charged new single “Stoneham Blues “ which will be on their new EP “Discontent “ out on May 27th on Mutant League Records .

Of the new track, vocalist Jesse Vadala says, “In the time when we were touring independently and writing our own way around the country, I often felt invincible even if just for a while. Inevitably, the rubber band would snap and bad news would arrive. I would be reminded swiftly of the severity of time and certainty of death. Always mildly obsessed with thoughts of my own.

Vancouver, BC pop-punks Chief State have dropped a new single and video titled “Burning Out.” The track appears on their long-awaited debut full-length ‘Waiting For Your Colours,’ which will be released via Mutant League Records on July 1.

Of the new single, frontman Fraser Simpson says, “I’ve been very introspective over the past year. I’ve asked myself a lot of questions about where I am and what I’m doing with my life. This song came about when I didn’t like the answers I was able to give myself. Approaching 30 with no real direction, no one really teaches you how you should live your life. It seems all we know is to compare ourselves with others and their achievements and comparing myself with others I felt disappointed and disheartened. Words flew out onto the page and resonated with me in those moments. I wrote the lines “I’m finding out that it’s only getting harder. I find it tough ‘cos my body’s getting older, I thought by now there’d be something I’d be proud of” and the rest of the song just developed from there. I’m trying to be positive with my mindset these days. I try to take the time to appreciate what I do have and not focus on what I don’t. I think most of us search for some kind of meaning, some affirmation that we’re doing ok. Really we just need to enjoy the ride, appreciate the small joys we win and strive for more of those happy feelings whatever they might be for each of us.”

We are super pumped to learn that Boston Calling the acclaimed three day festival making it’s much awaited return to Allston MA this Memorial Day weekend May 27th -29

Announced today is the addition of Rock & Roll hall of fame inductees and Grammy award winners Nine Inch Nails as a headliner to this years festival. Making their return to the road for the first time in four years !!!

Nine Inch Nails will close out the first night of the festival on Friday night May 27th .

As previously announced, the festival will be headlined on Saturday, May 28^th and Sunday, May 29^th by alternative rockers, The Strokes, and rock & roll icons, Metallica, respectively. The remarkable sounding record includes the five songs that were included on the Broken Stars E.P. That means we are treated to seven new songs this time around .

The opening track “It Comes as A Friend “ featuring Carey Clayton is a mesmerizing track that shows Jake Benjamin’s voice at it’s absolute best . The vocal power exhibited in the song is just magnificent.

We really enjoyed “Under The lights” featuring Elena Escudero . The song is note perfect and is an elegant and beautiful composition.

There is a very mystical and playful feeling with “Of water and Air “ we especially liked how it felt like it melted into “A sun set too Soon featuring Adelide, and Dominic Ingham.

The delicate “4 Hours “ is a brilliantly crafted love song that we enjoyed completely.

The title track “Broken Stars “ finds Jake Benjamin at the absolute top of his game . He is a master of projecting beautiful and amazing imagery that add a such a wonderful additional dimension to his already outstanding musical compositions.

We listen to a lot of music here at The Whole Kameese and it’s all kinds of music from rock,chant , dance and punk . Sometimes a band and or a song comes along that just really stands out to us . A few weeks ago we listened to “The Glory” by Trenton NJ Alt rockers Old Currents .

“The Glory” is hands down one of the most authentic rock songs we have heard in a while . The song has this grit and honesty to it that you just can’t fake . No magic just a group of musicians who clearly put their hearts and souls into the music .

We can not wait for “The Glory,The Defeat “ to drop we have a feeling it’s going to be one hell of a record .

We recently listened to the amazingly awesome new single “Dangerous New Backgrounds by That Summer .

That Summer who is fronted by Charles Rocha has a major future hit on their hands with Dangerous Backgrounds.

We can only hope some day we get to hang out with Deaf Lingo . I mean their fourth single “Reception “ which will be on their up coming record “Lingonberry “ later this month is about a pool party .

Deaf Lingo’s singer and guitarist Sandro comments:

”The song is about what happened on our way back from a walk in the mountains. That afternoon went to our singer Sandro’s place and there was a pool party without us knowing. Our landlords were away on vacation, and their son was secretly having a party, with pools and lots of free booze. It was a really fun day and Mauro, our drummer, was thrown into the pool all dressed as a hiker.”

We recently listened to Laura Loriga and her remarkable new album Vever. And let me tell you we were blown away .

Laura was born in Bologna, Italy and in the past decade she has been developing her work between her own country and the United States . With Mimes of Wine , her main project until recently , she has written and published three full length records.

Vever is a big record and Laura Loriga has an even bigger voice . All of the sounds and melodies could fill Carnegie Hall as they are robust and full of life

The opening track “Mimi” felt like the perfect primer to get the listener ready for a spectacular music experience. Loriga eloquently weaves her voice around the powerful arrangement of sound .

On “Door Ajar “ we were drawn in by the subtle drum cadence at the beginning then we were lead by haunting vocals that gave the song such a almost mystical feel to it .

“Balmaha” is a stunning sultry track that is simply perfect . We found ourselves singing along with this outstanding tune .

On “Black Rose “ we love how the simple melodic arrangement really made Laura’s voice shine so brightly

“Passes The Flame “ stood out to us as it had both an old world and cinematic feel to it . We could picture seeing the song as the perfect backdrop to a movie on the silver Screen .

The Whole Kameese

We recently checked out Alt/Pop meets Folk duo Loud Forest and their extremely catchy single “Easy To Love “ The song is an amazing blend of Alt/Pop and Folk . We can’t get enough of this song .

The harmonies in “Easy To Love “ are off the charts .Rachel confides on the inspiration behind the release, “I’ve spent a lot of years with a hard heart, trying to be strong and power through. Through my own journey of motherhood and growing, therapy and working through love, I’ve had to really do the hard work of mending this hard heart, learning to listen and let my heart guide how I think and feel. This is not an easy road, but it’s been the best and most beautiful path to working toward a tender heart.”

Loud Forest is based out of Los Angeles and is comprised of husband and wife Bernard and Rachel Chadwick. They collaborate in their experimental project space in Pasadena.

“Easy To Love” will be featured on their next album “Family Tree” which is do out in May 2022.

We recently listened to the latest single “Love,Always” from Essex based rock four-piece Palps. The song is taken from their upcoming album “Black Heart” due later this year.

The creativity is overflowing with this project as , they have turned eight tracks into an amazing eight chapter short film and story which, highlights the daily struggles of someone navigating their poor mental health and how it affects not only them but, those around them .

The raw emotion felt in “Love,Always” is positively stunning . While listening to the song you can’t help but feel the pain and loss that is associated with heartbreak .

Sonically in sync Palps (Alex Gray – Vocals , Guitar , Liam Kelly Guitar , Dan Chapman Bass and Hayden Crease deliver a musical accomplishment in “Love, Always “ that needs to be experienced and celebrated .

We can’t wait for the other chapters in “Black Heart” if they are anything like chapter 2 “Love,Always” then we are in for an epic album .

We recently checked out Portland Post Punk band J.Graves and their excellent new video “Valentine”

The music is fast and fierce and the video is fun and inventive. We are big fans of creativity and J. Graves has a treasure trove of it .

In this concept, new single Valentine is the first stepping stone, leading viewers into a visual world full of piercing music, nice beaches, swords, and chain-mail armor. Under the surface, however, Valentine is a song that brims with barely contained despair; a tumult unfettered by its brighter sound. Buried beneath howling refrains and gaunt overdrives lies something equal parts mournful and angry as Graves reflects on an unhealthy relationship that ended just as harshly as it existed

As Shaylee Portland,Oregon’s Elle Archer delivers an amazing collection of important and meaningful music with Short Sighted Security that is pure genius.

This record is an absolute masterpiece. The opener “Oblivion” is a very hypnotic and rhythmic track that is full of melodic greatness.

“Ophelia” is a timeless well written track that shows off not only Elle Archer’s superb songwriting abilities but also shines a light on the masterful music arrangements that are crafted beautifully in the song .

Elle, who is a queer trans woman, grew up enamored with making music. She cites early experiences as a teen playing guitar on church worship teams as well as in her high school jazz band as heavily formative. She remembers mixing every element she’d hear on stage in her in-ear monitors, and then going home to toy around with what she had learned, in awe of the endless possibilities that come with sitting alone and reimagining sound. Elle also has a history of listening to and loving music, especially turn-of-the-century space rock opuses like Ladies And Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space by Spiritualized, The Flaming Lips’ The Soft Bulletin, Wilco’s Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, and Radiohead’s OK Computer which clearly helped influenced her style as you can feel the deep indie connection and jangled pop sound on Short Sighted Security.

We routinely pressed repeat on multiple tracks on the record . we loved the honesty on “Stranded Living Room “ and the haunting tones of “Save up “ The melody of #1 Destroyer Fan made us smile as we hummed it for days .

Our favorite song on this amazing record is “Danger Decides” It’s absolutely perfect in every way . It has that classic jangly indie pop feel . We hear Shades of the late great Elliott Smith. Elle’s voice is note perfect on this song .We also enjoyed the video as well .

We enjoyed everything about this record, from its DIY spirit to it’s commitment of real and honest music . you need to check it out

The song is a lush guitar layered paradise that allows you to get lost in the sonic greatness that is “Last Chance”

Dog In a Man Suit ( Billie Seeland (guitar, vocals), Anjali Nair (guitar, vocals, synths), Chris Seeland (bass), and Thomas Colgrove (drums) matches the perfect melodic song structure with equally strong and haunting lyrics.

The song was written during a turbulent time in Anjali’s life after she left her first full-time job. For the first time ever, she was free to focus entirely on her own music. Instead of settling into a creative groove, she was plagued with uncertainty. “I want to be free/but I don’t want to break free.”

Unfortunately opening band’s have felt a change as well and aren’t perhaps getting as much attention like before .

MXPX,Zebrahead and Bad Cop/Bad Cop wanted to do something about it . So before their sold out show at The House Of Blues in Anaheim CA. On Friday April 1st they got together and recorded and shot a video for the song “Nothing In The Dark “ by the opening band on the bill Mercy Music. (How Freaking Cool!)

“With how competitive this industry can be, we realize we’re lucky to be doing this after all this time, on our schedule, on our terms, and that most don’t get to that point. I don’t think an opening slot helps a younger band the way they used to. The world is changing and how we learn about music and consume music is changing so fast. So we convinced our friends to try something new with us to help a younger band. This one’s written by the opener of the shows we’re all playing together, we didn’t even tell them we were doing it!!! We recently listened to the highly relatable and danceable “Keep In Touch “ by Love You Later .

Love You Later is the project of Nashville based artist and songwriter Lexi Aviles

“Keepintouch” illustrates Love You Later’s ability to create wholly addictive alt-pop earworms. Co-written with fellow Nashville-based songwriters Bre Kennedy and Kyle Dreaden, “Keepintouch” sees Love You Later confronting her discomfort with being alone and, subsequently, her journey towards finding peace and catharsis in learning to like her own company.

As for how the inspiration for the single came about, she says: “My boyfriend had just left for tour a few weeks prior and my friends were all starting to date people – of course, I wanted to be happy for the people I loved, but in all honesty it was really hard. I almost felt this sense of disconnection from myself like I had forgotten how to be alone. We finally came up with the concept for the song once I came to this strange realization – I felt more connected to myself when I had other people around me, but I knew that I really needed to learn to be alone again in order to truly feel connected with myself. And I also wanted to express the fear of losing the people I loved in the process. It’s pretty much summed up in the tag of the song: I’m losing touch with everyone else / trying to keep in touch with myself

The song is so well put together and the incredible melodies within in the song make it very easy to stick in your head .

We recently listened to the single “Sharp White Teeth “ from Missoula based indie alternative band Catnyp.

This was an enjoyable throwback kind of tune that had us thinking Beatles and Jim Morrison.

The track has this great “traveling feel “ to it we found ourselves tapping along almost instantly. The vocal performance was flawless and stunning. Do yourself a favor and give the very enjoyable “Sharp White Teeth “ a listen . We can almost guarantee you can’t listen just once .

We would be perfectly fine if Chateau Chateau ruled the world . The Tucson based band is led by the DIY duo of Alex and Bleu are the perfect voices of what is needed in the world . The music is an amazing shiny danceable wonderment that needs to be shared with the world . However, beyond the melodic greatness Chateau Chateau is able to address important social issues as well . We recently checked out the third single from Italy’s Deaf Lingo “Push It “

The song will be included on their up coming album Ligonberry which will out in April .

According to Sandro from the band “Push it” is a song about laziness, no ambitions and being ok doing nothing. It’s about stopping trying to be someone society wants you to be. A sort of social disobedience.”

“Lingonberry” will be released on Swedish label Lövely Records on April 29.

Anna Shoemaker is the real deal. Her debut “Everything Is Fine “ ( I’m only on Fire ) is a fiery collection of songs that showcase the greatness that is Anna Shoemaker .

The opening track “Until I die “ is an explosive track that shows that Anna Shoemaker is not fooling around. Her voice is a very powerful and strong instrument. I’m pretty sure she could move the Brooklyn Bridge just on the strength of her voice alone .

“Sorry All The Time” has a very 80’s vibe with big melodic sounds matching Anna’s big beautiful voice .

We love the edgy feel to “On me “ but Shoemaker proves she can confidently mix a classic smooth sounding vocal with an edgy feel and make a perfectly phenomenal track .

“Mariah” is a catchy song that we have had on repeat since we reviewed it . We were impressed not only with song but the video as well . The “Mariah” video was shot in one take sees Anna once again collaborating with visual artist Josefine Cardoni “It was terrifying because at the end I literally throw a guitar into the fire, so it was an incredibly high stakes situation,” Anna quips about the shoot

“Scared of your Ex (Brooklyn Cowboy) This one was like stepping into a futuristic disco. We were feeling the bass line as we danced along .

“Sick!” had our favorite lyric of the record “And if I could drive until I sleep maybe I could get to you inside my dreams” an absolutely brilliant line .

Another gold star track on the record was “It’s Depression “ featuring Middle Part

The track is very well done and the collaboration between Anna and Middle Part is an absolute treat for the listener.

Recently we listened to the new single “Radio Silence “ by the incredibly talented Ceara Cavalieri. “Radio Silence “ is a smart pop punk gem that is radio friendly and extremely enjoyable . Cavalieri appears to be the total package who not only looks the part but can back it up with master class level songwriting skills.

Radio Silence”, Ceara confides “I wrote this song about a guy that I had been dating for about 8 months who randomly ghosted me without saying anything. It is such a weird feeling when you are used to talking to someone everyday and then out of nowhere it’s just complete “radio silence” on their end. I know that most people have experienced something like this and it can really make you feel down on yourself especially without getting that closure. If you’re going through something like this or have experienced something similar then this is definitely a song that you can scream in your car.”

We recently checked out the new single from ROSIE “Next Life” . It is a honest and heartfelt song that is perfectly delivered. ROSIE gives her whole soul and it shows .

Nature has long served as inspiration over the years and Jake Soffer’s magnificent E.P.

“The Tree That remained Standing “ is a prime example of this . While driving through California’s Shasta National Forest — an area plagued by a series of forest fires Jake Soffer was taken aback when he spotted a single tree thriving amidst the charred remains of the surrounding forest. The powerful image evoked in Jake an ambiguous sense of tragedy mixed with hope, and it inspired the title track for his latest EP, The Tree That Remained Standing

Each of the beautifully crafted tracks on the E.P. all have a connection to nature . Jake does a remarkable job of really making each track speak to the listener . I feel as while Soffer plays he is like a new age Bob Ross painting a majestic picture which each note .

As I began listening to “Ruby Red Rose “ I was blown away by the stunning delicate nature of the track . The music gently flowed freely and effortlessly as we were making our way through the melody .

“From Sea To Sky “ has this real “country feel” to it . Jake Soffer is a master at giving each composition so many different dimensions that makes them so complete.

I really enjoyed “Skipping Rocks” This tracking has a very welcoming feel to it . I also felt like this track reminded me of the progressive Bluegrass group Nickel Creek with the groove and feel of the track .

The final track on this impressive body of work is the title track “The Tree That Remained Standing “ This track was wonderfully put together and it had a beautiful poetic flow to it. I feel like this track symbolizes how the Tree survived .

This was a stunning collection of music . Jake Soffer showed pure brilliance throughout this E.P.

We recently checked out the new record from The Minders – Psychedelic Blacktop

The Minders who were one of those great bands who were part of the retro pop movement in the 90’s. The Minders were formed by Martyn Leaper and Robert Schneider in 1995.

Schneider from The Apples In Stereo was the visionary behind the Elephant Six Collective , a swirl of bands who shared an affinity for psychedelia, Brit Invasion Pop-Rock , and charmingly scuzzy bedroom productions .

The Minders latest Psychedelic Blacktop is a treasure trove of well crafted songs that do not disappoint.

The opener “Home” is a well spun folk feeling track that connects with you right away and sets up the album perfectly.

The Brit pop track “Let’s Go Driving “ is a delightful and refreshing tune that has great pop sensibilities that make you want to sing along

We thoroughly enjoyed “It’s All The Same “ the retro lush melodies and harmonies give the song another dimension.

We enjoyed Psychedelic Blacktop by The Minders very much . We can honestly say it was the first record in a long time that felt like a true adventure packed with many different styles and melodies. You can check it out below

Today we listened to the much anticipated debut from the uber talented Caroline Romano. “Oddities & Prodigies “

“Oddities & Prodigies “ are 16 well crafted pop masterpiece’s that promptly announce that Caroline Romano has arrived and is ready to share her melodic brilliance with the world .

The title track “Oddities & Prodigies “ is an electrifying opener that puts the rhythmic genius of Caroline Romano on full display as she sharply weaves in and out in her own distinctive lyrical style .

“Panic Attack “ is a beautiful and delicate song that is relatable poetic honesty . “ Caroline elaborates: “I wrote “Panic Attack’ in a parked car after one of the worst panic attacks I’ve ever experienced. I had just gotten off the phone with my mom, frantic because I didn’t know what to do or how to help myself. The only thing I knew to do was to write it all down. It’s still not something I can fully put into words, but writing this song helped pull me out of my own head. I’m an incredibly anxious person and I’ve struggled with my mental health for as long as I can remember, which is why it felt so important to spotlight ‘Panic Attack’ as a single. The last line of the song is, ‘I think I’m gonna be okay,’ because I truly believe that— I believe it for myself and for anyone listening. We’re going to be more than okay.

What makes this album so good is that there is a genuine “heart on sleeve” honesty with these songs that are extremely relatable. “Grocery Store “ is a prime example of this .

On “I’m Bad” Romano shows remarkable vocal versatility with a solid vocal performance.

On “Ireland in 2009” Caroline shows that she is a high caliber storyteller . “I saw the movie Cherrybomb recently, that was made in Belfast, Ireland in 2009, and I thought it would be a lovely place to write this story,” Caroline explains of the inspiration that led to writing this song. “I’ve never been to Ireland, and I was only 8 years old in 2009, but I’m obsessed with scenarios I know I’ll never experience. I think we all have our own versions and our own times and places of ‘Ireland in 2009.’ I hope this song reminds you of yours.”

One song we that really stood out to us was “Hollister” it’s a pop hit waiting to happen definitely one you need to turn up and enjoy .

We just listened to Gregor Barnett debut album “Don’t Go Throwing Roses In My Grave” The album is a powerful and well crafted body of work . If we’re being honest it’s probably the best 40 minutes and 46 seconds that we have spent in a long time .

“Don’t Go Throwing Roses In My Grave” is honest and gritty and Barnett’s voice is like a well poured whisky that has been carefully aged to perfection. The opening track “ Oh Lord , What do you know? has this great drum sound that welcomes you with open arms . “Driving Through The Night” is a melodic gem that has a great feel to it . We were hooked on the brilliant lyric “ wondering what the government knows, about crash landing Ufo’s “

Gregor shows great vocal range on “The First Dead Body I ever saw “ There is almost a throwback rockabilly feel to this track .

The title track “Don’t Go Throwing Roses In My Grave “ has a bluesy energy that races throughout the song . Barnett really delivers vocally on this one.

“Don’t Go Throwing Roses In My Grave” is Gregor Barnett on top of his game delivering a tremendous record .

Fresh off a North American tour , Mae Krell gives us four beautiful well crafted gem with the release of the EP. Imposter Syndrome.

What stands out with Imposter Syndrome is how real these songs feel . The EP is named after the final single to be released, “imposter syndrome,” but was actually inspired by an experience working on one of the other tracks on the EP. Explaining how it came to be, Mae says, “while working on ‘phantom limb,’ Jakob Leventhal (producer) brought in an incredible pianist to play on the track. While sitting in the studio I had this overwhelming feeling of not being talented enough and feeling like I shouldn’t be there. Imposter syndrome is such a common feeling, especially for people from minority backgrounds, and it really hit me like a truck that day. That was then followed by going home and writing this song. Over the course of the ‘impostor syndrome’ EP, Mae masterfully and heart-wrenchingly dissects the relatable feeling of self-doubt. The songs are melodic, intimate, and packed with cathartic lyricism that will strike a chord

The opening track “Colorblind “ has very eloquent cinematic feelings while lyrically there contains a deep and heartfelt message .

The vocal acrobatics displayed on “Rest Stop” are absolutely stunning giving the song a whole new dimension . Again Mae Krell gently weaves delicate lyrics within carefully placed melodic beauty .

Our Favorite track off of Imposter Syndrome is “Phantom Limb “ As we said when we reviewed “Phantom Limb” The song is a delicate and absolutely stunning track . The song which tells the often painful tale of drug addiction and recovery. Mae bears their soul and the honesty and truthfulness of the song shines through”

Imposter Syndrome is a beautiful collection of music that needs to be heard .

We are absolutely over the moon to learn that the extraordinary talented Cade Hoppe has released a video for his amazing song “Hurts”

Spoiler…… The video just like the song is amazing!

The song (which has been stuck on repeat in our office ) is written from the POV who has recently broken up with their significant other, but the clever accompanying video adds more context to the situation . Using a camcorder to invoke nostalgia, the “Hurts” video shows the relationship from the POV of the other party. “I wanted show the relationship through the other person’s eyes before it all fell apart,” says Cade. “It helps give a little context to the pain I’m singing about because the most painful part of any breakup, I think, is remembering those good moments that made you fall in love with each other in the first place.”

Also, I always thought Mariah Carey putting out ‘Obsessed’ in response to Eminem saying they were together was the coolest move. I think in a lot of ways, as an artist, you can use music to protect yourself. You can put everything into a song and sort of let it float away.”

We recently checked the new single “All About “ from State of the Secretary.

“All About” has a very classic alternative rock feel that is both familiar and welcoming. State of the Secretary mainstay Issac Anderson has achieved master level status with a well crafted song that is both relatable and chock full of melodic sensibilities.

All About is all about those feelings of being left behind as older friends sever ties when they go off to college. “On top of that, I had finally worked up the courage to ask out a female friend of mine (after about 5 years of knowing her). That resulted in me getting completely shot down, and ruining our friendship forever. All these things resulted in an overwhelming sense of loneliness, and a general ‘unwanted’ vibe,” Isaac bravely shares. The song has that spiraling-out feeling of how these painful experiences can rattle your self-esteem.

Forrest Hill wasn’t originally going to write a fourth record . Hill has had a very rewarding career first co-founding the Boston Based Funk Rock Band “Judy’s Tiny Head” then as a successful solo artist. COVID-19 hit, his father passed away, and many existential questions came to the surface.

This record may have been a result of the lockdown however, it has a sound that goes beyond the pandemic.

Forrest Hill is an epic storyteller who has the brilliant gift Of being able to connect to the listener on a personal level .

Only Love is full of melodically smart and well written treasures that stay with you long after the last note.

The opening track “Glide” is a beautifully written breezy easy flowing song that sets a very positive tone . “Life Flows On “ is a timeless folk song that has a joyful heart.

We recently checked out the new record from Kulick “Everyone I know will Die”

We are big fans of honesty and truth here at The Whole Kameese. You definitely get straight up honesty with Kulick . The good the bad and everything in between.

Every track is full of lush melodies coupled with the smartest and sensible lyrics on the planet ( seriously they are that good) As honest as the lyrics are they are also chock full of positivity. ( Let’s face it we could all use all the positivity we can )

The album is a front to back gem but, we really enjoyed “Necessities”,“For once In My Life” The track that really stood out for us is “Don’t Think About Me “ The honesty show in the performance on this track is absolutely stunning – Bravo

Sometimes a song takes a while to be liked however, “I Would Have Given You The Moon” by 19 year old Peach Martine is NOT one those songs . “I would Have Given You The Moon” is a stunning and magnificent track. We were completely blown away .

The power and beauty that is displayed vocally by Peach Martine is incredibly impressive.

Old Currents who hail from New Jersey have a very fresh take on rock that starts with their brilliant brand of story telling

We just checked out Italian alt-rock outfit Deaf Lingo and their new single “Friends” from their upcoming second album “Lingonberry “ due out April 29th

“Friends “ is low-fi indie gem , that is melodic and catchy with masterful songwriting. The way the sounds come together on “Friends “ is most impressive

Sandro from Deaf Lingo about ”Friends”: 
“Friends is the first song we wrote for the upcoming record. Actually, an earlier version is included in our EP Friends/Failures released in 2019. Friends is a pessimistic song and it’s about friends leaving the country and the feeling of being alone in the suburbs with nothing to do.

FUN FACT: the very first chorus we used to sing in the pratice room was: “Madò che buò patat ‘e’ cozz” which means: “holy crap, how good is patate e cozze!” a typical southern Italy dish.”

Friends” is released on all streaming platforms on January 28 via Lövely. ”Lingonberry” is set for release on April 29 on LP, CD, and digital formats

We just listened to “Tired of Being Tired “via Asian Man records by The Moore Family Band ft Dan Andriano on bass from Alkaline Trio

The track (which absolutely rocks! ) does a great job of articulating the nagging feeling of ennui that’s all too common these days in a energetic and catchy 2 minuet anthem.

The video, filmed at The Moore Family Band’s childhood home by Natalia Elise and animated by Eric La Febre (Sad Girlz Club), unfolds over the course of one uninterrupted take and is a joyous counterpart to the song’s overall message.

Alyssa,Randy, and Dylan Moore are joined by Dan Andriano from Alkaline Trio as well as Cam Macbain (Stickup Kid) on drums and Tarif Pappu (Get Married) also providing backing vocals .

The Moore Family Band has a style and sound that is both refreshing and explosive.

Starting with the first track “Melusine “ Moon displays masterful musicianship coupled with a smart vocal performance.

The next track “Housesitting “ is a playful tune that stays with you long after the last note.

“Kinds Of Light “ is an interesting tune as it has both a very radio friendly quality to it . But, it also comes across a very cinematic piece as well .

The final track “Coda” is a haunting track that is a perfect ending track to an E.P. that is other worldly.

We just watched the new video for Bring On The Storm “Decomposed “ spoiler alert….it freaking rocks !!!!

The energy that comes from these guys is electric , they could seriously power a metropolitan area .

The brand new video for “Decomposed “ (filmed and edited by Alan Brennen) was shot at Ill Fated Kustoms in Calgary, Alberta and features the band performing their brand of fast technical punk amazing amongst an array of choppers .

Singer/Guitarist Chris Kreuger elaborates on the heavy message behind the song explaining, “This tune is about an invisible monster that burdens and even sometimes takes life away. We all know victims. We’ve named the monster depression.”

Engineered by Casey Lewis (Belvedere) and mixed/ mastered by John Harcus (PMX), ‘Decompose’ marks the first official release by the Calgary based melodic hardcore band on Thousand Island Records.

We recently checked out the new single “Metaphors ” from Vancouver BC Pop punks Chief State. Spoiler alert….. “Metaphors “ is happiness in your ears .

The stand alone single will hold fans over until their debut full length comes in 2022.

The song serves as an excellent first course before the full length. Chief State are an electrically charge band that delivers both melodically and lyrically basically they kick ass.
